Philadelphia Reds baseball academy in King of Prussia, PA

Welcome To The Philadelphia Reds

The Philadelphia Reds baseball academy training program in King of Prussia, PA 19406 specializes in the development of young men. We provide an elite club travel team and skill development program. We provide an atmosphere in which our members will receive the greatest opportunity to achieve their potential. Our staff will make every effort to provide the resources necessary to realize both team and individual goals. Our program is based on young men with a strong work ethic and exceptional character. Every member of our program is expected to place a high priority on academic, as well as athletic achievement.

The most significant reward of our program is that of opportunity. The opportunity, not only to play baseball, but to acquire all of the fundamentals and skills necessary for success, both on and off the field. Our program endeavors to teach problem solving skills in baseball that can be directly applied to the challenges that one will face in the classroom and in life. In general, characteristics such as responsibility, discipline, preparation, and teamwork, when utilized beneficially in baseball, will foster the same benefits in the classroom. This proficiency at problem solving in a variety of areas will make one not only more qualified, but also more competitive in an interview, and more employable in industry. We provide a roadmap and an environment for serious young men who are passionate about baseball and who want to reach their full potential.

Approximately five hundred thousand young men play high school baseball each year. Of these, approximately two percent, ten thousand, will play Division 1 baseball. Approximately eleven percent, fifty-five thousand, will play baseball at any level. It is our fervent endeavor that each one of our players has the opportunity to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level should he have the desire to do so. To that end, our program stresses the importance of consistent hard work and is for highly motivated young men who possess the desire to excel in the classroom and in the athletic arena.

Welcome To The Philadelphia Reds Baseball Training Academy in King of Prussia, PA 19406

The Philadelphia Reds is a College Development Program. We provide student-athletes who aspire to play collegiate baseball with the opportunities for skill and personal development and exposure to reach their goals. We do this by providing devoted instructors and competing against outstanding competition. The program is integrally involved in the recruiting process, guidance, and school placement with players and their families.

We seek highly motivated young men of strong character and work ethic who are serious students striving to excel in the classroom as well as on the baseball field. Together, our staff evaluates and selects players to the program. We do not hold or conduct tryouts. We add new players each year to a solid core of returning players.

Our players are encouraged to prepare most diligently in practice and to hold themselves to a higher standard of excellence both on and off the field. They are successful because of the ways in which they conduct themselves.

Our commitment is to advance the development of our players each year by building on the experiences, skill development, and principles from the previous year. To this end, few programs commit a higher portion of their operating budget on the development of their young men than The Philadelphia Reds. We provide a club travel team, personalized training, and pitching and hitting skill instruction.

13U to 17U Travel Teams

Mission statement.

The mission statement for our travel baseball program at Complete Game of PA is to provide highly competitive tournament experiences that develop athletes, teaches good character, have an environment that encourages players to be good citizens and future leaders. Complete Game’s professional coaching staff provides a positive learning experience where players develop their skills through teamwork and with experienced role models.

Our Travel Teams represent Complete Game of PA and themselves with the highest degree of sportsmanship and good conduct from all: Players, Coaches and Parents. The goal for our Baseball and Softball Programs is to prepare our players to play at the highest level of their athletic ability while preparing each individual to effectively navigate the college recruiting process.

Travel Baseball & Softball Team Tryouts: What To Expect For Players and Parents

Travel baseball and softball teams are some of the most competitive youth sports’ organizations in America, and tryouts can be equally as stressful for the parents as they are for players. With only a small window of time to show off your talent and such small margin for error, a good tryout for an elite team could put a child on a trajectory for college-level play. Enrolling your kid in an elite baseball and softball academy is the best way to ensure your young athlete will make the team.

So, what are some other things players and parents can do to make the most of these travel baseball and softball tryouts ?

What Coaches Look For During Baseball & Softball Tryouts

  • Players – This means showing up 15 minutes before tryouts begin and with proper attire. While it may sound silly, some players do not show up in proper baseball attire, which is a clear indicator that these aren’t serious players.
  • Parents – This means getting your child to the tryout on time and that they have the correct equipment they need for tryouts. Players who show up to baseball and softball tryouts without the correct gear are unlikely to be considered.
  • Coaches look for raw athleticism in players; they know their job is to teach them technique, and they want to see that players have the speed, throwing ability and hitting power to apply that technique.
  • Players – Travel baseball teams are full of some the most talented young players in the area. But if these constantly showboat and appear to be self-centered, coaches will likely overlook them for a more team-centric player. Remember, you’re trying out for a team , not a lead role.
  • Coaches are looking for a player that is listens and therefore is coachable
  • Parents- Remember to stress to your child that baseball and softball are team sports, and that coaches look for players who are going to improve the team as a whole.
  • Players – Coaches want to make sure you have the basic skills of the sport. It’s up to you to practice the basics of throwing, catching and hitting in the weeks leading up to your tryouts .
  • Parents – While playing catch with your kids is great, enrolling them in an elite baseball academy where they can get expert advice will give them the biggest chance for success.

Philadelphia Parks and Recreation League

PAYSA players currently participate in the Philadelphia Parks & Rec League "travel" program at the 12 & Under (12U) and 10 & Under (10U) levels. PAYSA's participation in this program provides opportunities for players with the skill and commitment needed to thrive in a more competitive environment.

PAYSA holds open tryouts for all travel teams as necessary. Travel team tryouts are typically conducted in the Fall for the following Spring with the selected teams kept intact through the end of the Fall Season. So tryouts for the upcoming 2023 12U and 10U Rec League Teams were held in the Fall of 2022 and Spring of 2023.

Tri-State Elite League

In the past, PAYSA has had various teams participate in the  Tri-State Elite League ( http://www.tsebaseball.net ) against teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.  This is a very competitive league, and requires significant organization and participation from all player families. PAYSA tries to schedule as many home games as available field time permits.  Registration costs for players on the travel teams will be significantly higher than that for in-house participation, however PAYSA will use best efforts to try to ensure that cost is not a barrier to playing on a travel team.

While the philosophy of the Mike Matheny Manifesto pertains primarily to the travel teams at PAYSA, the message is applicable across all youth sports.
