Traveling Around Europe With Full Protection Through Schengen Visa Insurance from Traveloka

Everyone must be happy to have the opportunity to tour Europe. However, some of them are not when planning trips across continents. The thing that usually makes people think twice about going there is definitely a matter of long preparation.

To be able to get around Europe, we are not only required to have sufficient funds. There are various other administrative requirements that we must fulfill and to deal with them often require a long time. One of them is of course a visa.

Fortunately, there are 26 countries in the European Continent that are members of the Schengen region. This area is a number of popular European Union international travel destinations that eliminate passport policies and control of border areas. The regional agreement makes tourists able to get around the European Union countries, such as the Netherlands, France, Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Spain with only a Schengen visa.

When arranging a Schengen Visa, tourists must equip themselves with travel insurance. Travel insurance is very important to provide protection as long as you are in this country. Without adequate travel insurance, your Schengen Visa application will be refused.

Speaking of security, travel abroad certainly requires more attention. Many unexpected things might happen. We cannot even anticipate it quickly and easily like when in our own country. Things like canceling a flight abroad can cause significant financial loss if you are not covered by insurance. Not to mention if your luggage is lost in a foreign place, or you have an accident and need medical treatment at the hospital.

For this reason, Traveloka is ready to be your protector when traveling around Europe. After completing your international trip with various flight features, Traveloka now presents sales services for Schengen Visa Insurance. This latest service is available directly in the latest version of the Traveloka App, precisely on the "Travel Guide & Add-on" menu.

The presence of Schengen Visa Insurance at Traveloka certainly makes planning trips throughout Europe more practical. After buying an airplane ticket, completing flight and airport services, booking a hotel room, or buying a ticket to a top tourist attraction, you can directly purchase Schengen Visa travel insurance without having to change the site or application.

The purchase process of Schengen Insurance at Traveloka is as easy as when you use the best range of services at this one online travel agent. With only the touch of a finger, without using the old method such as the troublesome procedure of filling out a long list of forms.

Regarding prices, Traveloka always guarantees the best prices for its services. Schengen Traveloka Visa Insurance comes with a complete package at an affordable price. Although it comes in affordable prices, the benefits of protection provided are very comprehensive. Insurance credibility is guaranteed because Traveloka only offers products that have received recognition from official visa centers such as VFS and TLScontact.

Introduction

Are you a Singaporean planning a trip to Europe?

With stunning landscapes, rich history and culture, Europe is a dream destination for many travelers. However, before you embark on your Eurotrip adventure, it’s important to understand the visa requirements.

Getting a Schengen visa can seem complicated, but it doesn’t have to be with proper preparation and documentation. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know about getting a Europe visa from Singapore, from application tips to post-visa trip planning.

Overview of Schengen Visa

What is a schengen visa.

The Schengen visa is a short-stay visa that allows holders to travel freely within the 26 Schengen area countries in Europe for up to 90 days within a 180 day period. These countries include:

  • Czech Republic
  • Liechtenstein
  • Netherlands
  • Switzerland

Some key things to note:

  • The Schengen visa is valid for tourism, business, transit, medical treatment, etc.
  • You can enter and exit Schengen countries as many times as you want within the validity period.
  • The 90/180 day rule still applies no matter how many countries you go to.
  • Schengen visas are issued as uniform “Category C” short-stay visas.

Why Get a Schengen Visa from Singapore?

As a Singaporean, there are several benefits to getting a Schengen visa before your Europe trip:

  • No need for multiple visas:  With one Schengen visa, you can visit multiple countries easily.
  • Better approval odds:  Singaporeans enjoy a high Schengen visa approval rate of over 95%
  • Shorter processing time:  You can get a Schengen visa from Singapore in as little as 2-10 days.
  • Lower hassle:  Getting visas on arrival in Europe can be tedious and risky.

Overall, having that Schengen visa in your passport before your trip makes travel smoother and more convenient.

Schengen Visa Requirements for Singaporeans

To increase your chances of Schengen visa approval, you need to meet the following requirements:

Valid Passport

Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended date of departure from the Schengen area. It must have at least 2 blank pages to affix the visa.

Return Ticket

You need to show proof of a return flight booking from Europe to Singapore. Make sure to only buy the ticket and not pay for it fully yet.

Travel Insurance

Have travel insurance with validity throughout the Schengen area and minimum coverage of €30,000.

Proof of Accommodation

Provide confirmed hotel bookings for the duration of your stay in Europe. If staying with family/friends, get a signed invitation letter.

Financial Means

Have a bank statement showing you have sufficient funds to cover trip costs. The required amount is around €90 per day. Employment documents can also help if employed.

Visa Application Form

Fill out the Schengen visa application form completely and accurately. Sign it at the end.

Passport Photos

Supply 2 recent passport-size photos according to Schengen photograph standards.

Additional Documents

Employed applicants should provide a leave approval letter from work. Students need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their school/university.

Meeting all these requirements proves you have strong ties to Singapore and are likely to return after your Eurotrip. This reassures visa officers to approve your application.

How to Apply for a Schengen Visa in Singapore

Here is a step-by-step guide to applying for your Schengen visa from Singapore:

1. Determine Your Schengen Reference Country

This is the country where you will be spending the maximum number of days on your Europe visit. Apply at their embassy/consulate in Singapore.

2. Check Processing Time

Some embassies/consulates process faster than others. Avoid slow processing times hampering your travel plans.

3. Book Appointment and Pay Fees

Schedule an appointment for visa submission online or via phone. Fees are €60 for adults, free for children under 6.

4. Prepare Your Documents

Use the visa requirements checklist above to get all your documents ready before the appointment. Neat and organized documents make a good impression.

5. Attend Your Visa Appointment

Show up on time for your appointment at the Schengen embassy/consulate. Submit your completed application form, passport, photos, and supporting documents. Be cooperative if asked any questions about your trip.

6. Wait for Processing

Normal processing is 2-10 days. You can opt to pay extra fees for faster processing in 3-5 days if in a hurry. Collect your passport with visa once ready.

7. Check Your Visa Carefully

Verify all details are correct once you get your passport back- name, validity dates, number of entries allowed. Contact the embassy for any corrections needed.

And you’ve got your Schengen visa from Singapore! Well done.

Tips for Hassle-Free Schengen Visa Approval

Here are some pro tips to boost your chances of quick and easy Schengen visa approval:

  • Avoid submitting too close to your travel date, at least 3 weeks in advance recommended. Last minute applications can get rejected.
  • Be conservative with your requested trip length and countries. Don’t seem overly ambitious.
  • Use a visa agent if you have a complex application to reduce mistakes.
  • Be truthful on your application. Any lies may lead to a ban.
  • Include more funds than the minimum in your bank statement to show financial security.
  • Book refundable or flexible hotel and flights, in case plans change.
  • Keep copies of all documents in case you need to reapply or appeal a rejection.
  • Have a clean passport with few or no immigration stamps from prior visits to Europe.
  • Remain calm and patient during the whole visa application process.

Planning Your Europe Itinerary with a Schengen Visa

Once you get your shiny new Schengen visa, it’s time to plan your dream Europe itinerary!

Choosing Your Destinations

Decide which of the 26 Schengen countries to visit based on your interests. The most popular options include:

  • France  for the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, cafes, and more in Paris.
  • Italy  for history and culture in Rome, Venice, Florence. Don’t miss the food!
  • Germany  for beer halls, castles, and vibrant nightlife.
  • Spain  for Gaudi architecture and beach vibes in Barcelona and islands.
  • Switzerland  for the majestic Alps, medieval towns, and scenic trains.

You could also consider less touristy places like the Nordic countries, the Baltics, and Central/Eastern Europe for something different.

Getting Around

Rail passes like the Eurail pass offer an affordable and convenient way to travel freely between multiple countries by train. Budget airlines like EasyJet and RyanAir also have cheap flights between cities.

Accommodation Tips

Hostels are great for solo travelers and students on a budget. AirBnbs or vacation rentals allow you to live like a local. Hotels give full service but may have smaller rooms.

Managing Your 90-Day Allowance

Carefully plan your itinerary length to avoid overstaying your 90-day limit. You can split up your Schengen travels into multiple trips with visits home in between.

With some smart planning using your Schengen visa, you can have an unforgettable Eurotrip experience. Enjoy all the amazing sights, food, and culture that Europe has to offer!

A Schengen visa opens up the doors to amazing travel opportunities across Europe’s beautiful and historic countries. While the visa application process may seem daunting, Singaporeans have high approval chances if they follow the right steps.

Use this complete guide to breeze through your Schengen visa application and planning. With visa in hand, get ready for the iconic sites, world-class cuisines, festive cultures and endless adventures awaiting you across Europe.

How to retrieve Singapore Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass)?

Published: April 26, 2024 Leave a Comment

Retrieve Singapore Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass)

Since 11 March 2022, Singapore has stopped issuing physical entry stamps in passports. The Electronic Visitor Pass or e-Pass is the replacement of the physical entry stamps.

In this article, you will learn everything about the e-Pass, how to retrieve it and why you should save a copy for your records.

If you have landed on this article but haven’t been to Singapore yet, read the Singapore Visa Guide for various visa options for tourists, their eligibility and requirements.

Table of Contents

What is singapore electronic visit pass or e-pass.

Singapore Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass) Sample

Singapore Electronic Visit Pass or e-Pass is a digital endorsement that governs how long a visitor is allowed to stay in Singapore. The e-Pass includes the following three crucial pieces of information.

  • Your date of entry in Singapore
  • The maximum days of stay granted and
  • The last day of your allowed stay

The e-Pass is issued and sent to your email after clearing the arrival immigration in Singapore. It will be sent to the email address that you have declared in your SG Arrival Card.

The e-Pass can also be retrieved on the ICA website using the Disembarkation/Embarkation (DE) Number from the SG Arrival Card.

If you retrieve your e-Pass after leaving Singapore, you will see a remark in your e-Pass that you have already left Singapore. See the remarks in “red” in the above sample.

Your e-Pass will be available for 1 year from the date of arrival in Singapore. If you like to retrieve a copy for your records, you must do so within 1 year of entry.

Why you should retrieve Singapore e-Pass?

It’s a good idea to save a copy of your Singapore e-Pass for your records. You might need a copy of your e-Pass for various reasons. Here are some of the reasons I can think of.

Reason 1: To prove your entry and exit from Singapore

You may have to prove that you have entered and exited Singapore for certain visa applications.

For example, when applying for Malaysia eVisa, you must upload proof of entry and exit stamps from your last visited country.

If your last visited country was Singapore, you must upload a copy of your Singapore e-Pass as proof of entry and exit from Singapore.

Reason 2: To demonstrate your travel history

You are required to upload your travel history for some visa applications. For example, when applying for a Canada visa, you must upload your travel history as a supporting document.

Your travel history is all the visas and entry and exit stamps in your passport. If Singapore was one of the countries in your travel history, attaching a copy of your Singapore e-Pass along with visas and stamps from your passport will help include Singapore in your travel history.

Reason 3: To prove that you have “used” your Singapore visa

A Singapore visa can be used as a substitute visa to enter certain countries.  For example, you can travel to Panama using a Singapore tourist visa .

One of the requirements to enter Panama is that your Singapore tourist visa must have been used to enter Singapore at least once. To prove that you have entered Singapore with your Singapore visa, you must present a copy of your Singapore e-Pass. The e-Pass will confirm that you have entered Singapore on your Singapore tourist visa.

How to retrieve your Singapore e-Pass?

Email Notification of Singapore Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass)

An e-Pass is issued and sent to your email after you clear immigration in Singapore.

The email is sent to you within 5 minutes of clearing immigration. But there have been reports that it took longer than that for some. If you haven’t received the email, check your spam or junk folders.

This email would be the one you have declared in your SG Arrival Card submission.

If you haven’t received the email or misplaced it, you can retrieve your e-Pass on the ICA website.

Follow the below steps to retrieve your e-Pass online.

Step 1: Search

Retrieve Singapore e-Pass - Search by DE Number

  • Go to the Singapore e-Pass Enquiry Portal
  • Enter your Disembarkation/Embarkation (DE) Number

Click on the blue “Retrieve e-Pass” button.

Where can you find Disembarkation/Embarkation (DE) Number? You can find the Disembarkation/Embarkation (DE) Number in your SG Arrival Card acknowledgment email. If you have downloaded a copy of your SG Arrival Card PDF, it will be on the first page of the PDF.

If you do not remember your Disembarkation/Embarkation (DE) Number or misplaced your SG Arrival Card acknowledgment email/PDF, you can also retrieve your e-Pass using your passport information.

To retrieve your e-Pass with passport details, click on the link “Retrieve with passport information” on the search page.

Retrieve Singapore e-Pass - Search by Passport Information

Then, enter the following information.

  • Date of Birth
  • Nationality/Citizenship
  • Passport Number
  • Date of Passport Expiry

Your Singapore e-Pass information will be displayed on the next page.

Step 2: View e-Pass

Retrieve Singapore e-Pass - View e-Pass

On the e-Pass information page, you can check the day you have entered, your granted stay and the last day of your allowed stay in Singapore.

Click on the blue “PDF Download” button to download a PDF copy of your e-Pass.

IMPORTANT For your records, retrieve a copy of your e-Pass after leaving Singapore. This copy will say that you have already departed Singapore. This works as proof of entry as well as exit from Singapore.

That’s it! If you are having trouble retrieving your e-Pass, let me know in the comments below. I will see if I can help in any way.

Travelling to Europe has become much more convenient for GCC and Indian visitors. The European Commission has approved new regulations for the issuance of Schengen visas to citizens of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and India who live in their home countries.

Under the new system, Saudi, Bahraini and Omanis will now have access to multiple-entry visas, allowing them to travel to 29 European countries using the same visa within five years.

Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.

This implementation has significantly simplified the process of obtaining a Schengen visa, making it much more convenient for eligible applicants, even first-time applicants. They can now look forward to receiving a multiple-entry visa that remains valid for up to five years, relieving them of the stress of frequent visa applications.

"The European Commission has adopted new rules for the issuance of Schengen visas for Saudi, Bahraini and Omani nationals residing in their home country. It is an important step promoting people-to-people contacts and facilitating exchanges between the EU and GCC citizens," the delegation of the European Union in GCC posted on X.

Kuwaitis can be issued with long-term, multi-entry Schengen visas valid for five years. UAE nationals enjoy visa-free travel to the Schengen nations, permitting stays of up to three months at a time. However, a Schengen visa is a must for UAE residents.

Additionally, the European Commission adopted specific rules on issuing multiple entry visas to Indians. Under the new regulations, Indian travellers are now eligible to obtain a two-year Schengen visa, a significant enhancement compared to the shorter validity periods previously offered.

To qualify for this extended visa, applicants must have obtained and used two Schengen visas within the last three years in accordance with the regulations. Upon successfully utilising the two-year visa, travellers can typically anticipate eligibility for a five-year Schengen visa, subject to the maintenance of sufficient passport validity.

This decision comes in the context of strengthened relations under the EU-India Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, which seeks comprehensive cooperation on migration policy between the EU and India, with the facilitation of people-to-people contacts being a key aspect due to the importance of India as a partner for the EU.

These changes ease the visa application process and facilitate smoother travel experiences.

Schengen visas allow the holder to travel freely in the Schengen area for short stays of a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period. The visas are not purpose-bound, but they do not grant the right to work. The Schengen area consists of 29 European countries (of which 25 are EU states): Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden, along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

You should submit your Schengen visa application at the consulate of the country you plan to base yourself in. If you normally reside in Singapore, for example, you should lodge your application with the consulate or embassy of your destination in Singapore.

If you plan to visit several Schengen states, you should apply for your visa in the country you plan to arrive in first.

A 'short stay' Schengen visa allows you to stay in the Schengen area for 90 days in a 180-day period.

The exact length of validity of your visa is shown under the heading Duration of visit. '01' indicates a single-entry visa; '02' a double-entry visa, and 'MULT' a multiple-entry visa.

As a rule of thumb, it will take 15 calendar days to process your visa application. However, it may take between 30 and 60 days in some cases.

Due to the possibility of a longer processing time, you should apply for your visa as early as possible.

A Schengen visa might be ideal for people who live, work or study in Singapore, but do not hold a Singapore passport (and therefore do not benefit from visa-free entry to the 27 Schengen nations).

For example, those working or studying in Singapore with a Thai, Filipino or Vietnamese passport would need to apply for a Schengen visa to visit the Schengen area.

Allianz Travel Insurance offers travel cover for different needs:

Single Trip cover:  Designed for people who are only likely to make one or two trips in the next year.

Annual cover:  Coverage for a full 12 months, unlimited trips (maximum 90 days per trip).
