14 King Bed Travel Trailer Floor Plans: Sleep Like Royalty

Travel Trailer King Bed

Getting a good night’s sleep in a travel trailer isn’t always easy, as RVs aren’t exactly known for their comfy sleeping accommodations.

In fact, one of the most common complaints about travel trailers is their often uncomfortable sleeping arrangements.

Now to be fair, this often has more to do with the RV mattress than anything else, as standard RV mattresses are typically very thin and lack any kind of support.

Which is why they’re often the first thing to be replaced.

However, another contributing factor has to do with the size of the bed, as most travel trailer floor plans offer either a full, queen, or RV queen mattress .

Which can feel a little cramped, especially if you’re used to a king-size bed at home.

The good news though, is there are many travel trailers today that offer king-size beds.

So to help you find all the best travel trailer floor plans with king beds , we’ve highlighted some top choices below.

Travel Trailer Floor Plans With King Beds (Smallest to Largest)

1. forest river rockwood geo pro g15tb.

Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB Floorplan

Quick Specs

  • Average Cost : $24,000
  • Length : 15 Feet 8 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 2,846 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 2
  • Bathroom : 2-Piece Wet Bath
  • Slide-Outs : None

One of the most surprising travel trailers to offer a king bed is the Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB , due to its small size, as it’s only 15 feet 8 inches long.

Making it the smallest travel trailer to offer a king bed and one of the smallest travel trailers overall .

You might be wondering though, how a camper that’s under 16 feet is able to fit a king-size bed.

Well, there is a bit of a catch.

Because the Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB does not offer a standard king-size bed.

In fact, the bed setup in the G15TB is anything but standard, as the trailer offers the rare twin-bed floor plan .

As a byproduct of this twin bed setup though, the twin beds can be converted into a king-size bed with the included king bed insert.

Transforming the camper from a twin bed trailer to a king bed trailer in just a few seconds.

  • Sleeping Capacity : 4
  • Bathroom : 2-Piece Dry Bath

Another travel trailer that offers a twin bed setup that can be converted into a king-size bed is the KZ RV E20 Hatch.

Amazingly though, this isn’t even the most stand-out feature on the trailer.

Thanks to its one-of-a-kind rear hatch floorplan, which combines the benefits of a travel trailer with the utility of a toy hauler .

As the floorplan offers standard travel trailer amenities at the front, including a bathroom and a kitchen, while the rear offers a large flip-up hatch, fold-up rear bench seats, and D-ring tie-downs.

Allowing you to load and secure outdoor gear into the back of the camper, such as bikes and kayaks.

Best of all, for those looking for a travel trailer floor plan with a king bed, the front twin beds in the camper can be converted into a king-size bed, with the included king bed insert.

The Dutchmen Astoria 2203RB offers big travel trailer features in a small package.

As this 26-foot travel trailer offers features typically only found on much larger rigs.

Including features like a private bedroom, a spacious three-piece dry bath, and a fireplace.

Most importantly for this list though, the Astoria 2203RB floorplan offers a fixed king-size bed.

Making it one of the smallest campers to offer a walk-around king bed .

Dutchmen Astoria 2203RB Front Bedroom

Even though this camper has big travel trailer features though, it still offers a surprising amount of interior space.

Thanks to its living room slide-out, which contains the trailer’s chaise lounge and 10 cubic foot refrigerator.

Forest River Salem 22RBS Floor Plan

  • Length : 26 Feet 11 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 5,928 Pounds

Another 26-foot travel trailer that offers a king-size bed is the Forest River Salem 22RBS.

Just one inch longer compared to the Dutchmen Astoria, this Forest River Salem has a very similar floor plan.

In fact, when comparing the two floorplans side-by-side, it’s hard to find any differences at all, as both offer a private front bedroom with a king bed , a fully-equipped kitchen, and a three-piece dry bath.

As well as an entertainment center with a built-in fireplace and a large chaise lounge with a removable table.

However, one major difference that separates the Salem 22RBS from the Astoria 2203RB is cost, as the Salem 22RBS has an average price of $27,000, while the Astoria 2203RB has an average price of $37,500.

Making the Forest River Salem over $10,000 cheaper, and the go-to choice for those shopping for a king-bed travel trailer on a budget .

Crossroads RV Sunset Trail SS222RB Floor Plan

The final 26-foot camper on this list to offer a king bed is the Crossroads RV Sunset Trail SS222RB.

Which has an overall length of 26 feet 11 inches and a king-size bed in the trailer’s front bedroom.

Unlike the first two 26-foot trailers on this list though, the Sunset Trail SS222RB does offer a slightly different layout.

The most notable of which is its flipped living room setup.

While all the same features are there, they’re flipped from front to back, which makes a small but noticeable difference.

This isn’t the only difference though, as the Sunset Trail SS222RB also has a front entrance instead of a rear entrance.

In addition, the SS222RB also offers a slightly smaller bathroom, to make room for a rear outdoor kitchen.

Which neither the Astoria 2203RB nor the Salem 22RBS have.

  • Length : 29 Feet 10 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 6,830 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 6
  • Bathroom : Split 3-Piece Dry Bath
  • Slide-Outs : 2

Lance travel trailers are primarily known for their premium construction and four-season capability.

However, many of their travel trailers also offer very comfortable sleeping accommodations as well.

For example, the Lance 2465 offers an east-to-west king bed on a slide-out, which provides ample space and comfort for a restful night’s sleep .

The east-to-west orientation of the king bed on this 30-foot floor plan does have its drawbacks though.

Lance 2465 King Bed

Because while it does allow for more room and storage in the bedroom, including a full wall of cabinets with a desk and a televator, it also limits the functionality of the bed.

As the bedroom slide has to be out to fully utilize the bed, which can be problematic if you’re overnighting in a parking lot.

For more info on the Lance 2465 and to take a 3D tour of the floor plan, check out Lance’s website by clicking here .

7. Coachmen Freedom Express Ultra Lite 259FKDS

  • Length :  29 Feet 10 Inches
  • Dry Weight :  6,494 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity :  4
  • Slide-Outs :  2

The Coachmen Freedom Express Ultra Lite 259FKDS offers an east-to-west king bed on a slide-out , just like the Lance 2465, but this is where the similarities end.

Because these two 30-foot king-bed travel trailers have very different layouts.

Starting with their kitchens.

As the Lace 2465 features a standard campside mid-kitchen, while the Coachmen 259FKDS boasts a unique front kitchen.

Which really makes the floor plan stand out.

As front kitchen layouts are very rare on campers, due to their added hitch weight.

If your tow vehicle can handle the extra hitch weight though, and you love to cook while traveling, the Freedom Express Ultra Lite 259FKDS is one of the best options available.

This isn’t the only unique feature on the 259FKDS floor plan though, as the trailer also offers a built-in fireplace , a massive slide-out, and even an exterior camp kitchen.

Which gives you dedicated office space to get all your work done while camping and traveling.

There’s more to this versatile floorplan than just dedicated office space though, as it also offers a large rear entertaining area.

Complete with an oversized slide-out, lots of seating, and a well-equipped kitchen with a massive island and a walk-in pantry.

One of the best features of the floorplan though has to be its private front bedroom, which contains a walk-around north-to-south king bed , as well as plenty of storage.

9. East to West Alta 2810KIK

East to West Alta 2810KIK Floorplan

  • Average Cost : $38,000
  • Length : 33 Feet 8 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 7,228 Pounds

Another travel trailer that offers a very similar floorplan to the KZ RV Connect is the East to West Alta 2810KIK.

In fact, the two floorplans are so similar it’s hard to tell them apart, as both offer a large rear entertainment area, a mid bath, and a private front bedroom.

The similarities don’t stop there though, as both offer the same amenities as well.

Including a well-equipped kitchen with a center island, a rear desk, an entertainment center, a fireplace, and a king-size bed .

They even have around the same price, as they’re only a few thousand dollars apart.

So if there so similar, why did we include both on the same list?

These two trailers offer a great example of how RV manufacturers can take the same general layout and make it unique and different.

Because despite being practically the same trailer, both campers have a very different look and feel.

Due to the different design choices made by KZ RV and East to West.

Moving forward, the high-end features don’t stop, as every other space inside the trailer is also loaded with premium features.

For instance, the bathroom offers a dedicated linen closet, plenty of counter space, and one of the largest showers you’ll find in a travel trailer.

In addition, the private front bedroom offers not only a full-size king bed on a slide-out but also a dresser with a TV and a full wall wardrobe with prep for a washer and dryer.

Sharing is caring!

It’s funny how meaningful travel trailers with a king-size beds are. Finding a perfectly sized RV with a gigantic mattress is often so challenging. Who doesn’t love an enormous bed? Especially those who have to fight their significant others for a scrap of space on the edge or accommodate the family dog.

Whether you have a large family, are a couple just starting off, or are long-term RVers, our list of travel trailers with King sized beds should cover everyone wanting a king-size bed. Whether you have dogs or you just like to sleep diagonally, this article is just for you.

15 Best Travel Trailers With King Beds

1. cherokee wolf pack gold series toy hauler 23gold15.

Cherokee Wolf Pack Gold Series Toy Hauler 23GOLD15 Exterior

Our Pros and Cons

✅Dual-roll-over sofas in the garage beneath a rising bunk

⛔Bathroom cabinetry isn’t very deep

  • Length: 33′ 5″
  • UVW: 6,806 lbs
  • GVWR: 11,352 lbs
  • CCC: 4,546 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,152 lbs

It’s not often you get to see toy hauler travel trailers with a king-size bed. The garage space takes up a lot of space, with the rest of the RV subject to the constraints of what’s left over. However, the Cherokee 23GOLD15 is an example of how a king bed can be successfully added to a toy hauler RV.

This Gold-Series Cherokee toy hauler also has 15 feet of garage space, a rear canvas screen, and a patio deck railing system for a party patio conversion. The forced air-heated underbelly creates a layer of heat that will prevent the cold from seeping up into the king-size bed, which will help keep you warm on those cold nights.

No concessions were made in the bathroom either, and it’s as sizeable as many of the larger RV bathrooms with a surprisingly large shower. Speaking of showers, if you need to wash the mud off your boots after parking the four-wheeler in the garage space, there’s an exterior ‘garden shower’ as well.

2. Coachmen Freedom Express Ultra Lite 259FKDS

Coachmen Freedom Express Ultra Lite 259FKDS Exterior

✅ The front kitchen has plenty of counterwork space

⛔ The elbow room on the commode may be tight for some

  • Length: 29′ 10″
  • UVW: 6,494 lbs
  • GVWR: 9,000 lbs
  • CCC: 2,506 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 752 lbs

Sub-30-foot travel trailers with a king-size bed aren’t common, and the Coachmen Freedom Express Ultra Lite 259FKDS pulls it off in style. It makes sense to place the kitchen up front, naturally flowing into the dining and entertainment areas, making the living room large. There’s even room to walk around the king, with even more space for a TV shelf, two large wards, and overhead compartments.

In fact, Coachmen is known for being meticulous and unique about their storage placement, and there’s hardly a place on the RV where there isn’t some kind of storage space. With over 2,500 lbs of cargo carrying capacity, you definitely have the freedom to store a ton of stuff.

The exterior features a ‘full camp kitchen’ with an 18′ awning, rear storage, and front pass-through storage. There’s a reason that the Coachmen Freedom Express series is extremely popular in the RV market, and it’s not all about the storage capabilities.

3. Cruiser RV Radiance R-25BH

Cruiser RV Radiance R-25BH Exterior

✅Double over double rear bunks

⛔ The pull chords on the windows are a little aggravating

  • Length: 29′ 11″
  • UVW: 5,727 lbs
  • GVWR: 7,736 lbs
  • CCC: 1,961 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 736 lbs
  • Sleep: 7 to 8

The Cruiser RV Radiance R-25BH is known for its luxurious features at an affordable price. The fact that it’s one of the travel trailers with a king-size bed on our list means it’s already halfway there. The tri-tone, gloss-dipped, Azdel sidewalls, plywood floor, and aluminum roof make for a sealed, highly durable environment. As another sub-30-foot travel trailer with a king bed, this Cruiser takes it to the next level with a sliding king bed feature.

They already accomplished much through maximizing space and cramming in a king. However, Cruiser installed a patent-pending king bed slideout to exploit the master bedroom’s space fully. They also went with plywood flooring over the OSB material, improving the impact and vibration resistance of the rig.

The Fully open Belly feature frees up more space on the interior by providing their RVers with a viable and large storage option in the underbelly of the RV (which his also heated). Pretty nifty. The dual-ducted air conditioning is highly convenient for simpler temperature control.

4. Flagstaff Classic 832RKSB

Flagstaff Classic 832RKSB Exterior

✅Perfectly situated entertainment/TV setup

⛔Glossy, exterior grill is a dust magnet

  • Length: 36′ 8″
  • UVW: 9,444 lbs
  • GVWR: 11,130 lbs
  • CCC: 1,686 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,130 lbs

The Flagstaff Classic 832RKSB is the perfect travel trailer for couples living the full-time RVer lifestyle. The kitchen in the rear is incredibly spacious, with the ideal theater seating and entertainment center setup for evening leisure time. It helps that two of the three slides are in the rear and directly opposite each other.

Thanks to the forward slide-out, you get a large, king-size bed in the master bedroom, with enough additional space for a washer/dryer combo, a dresser, and a sizeable wardrobe. The dual-access bathroom is also fairly spacious and includes a linen closet.

In addition to the excellent interior space, there are plenty of reasons to enjoy the outdoors as well, with a nice outside kitchen, an adjacent slide-out grill, and two awnings (10′ and 16′) for plenty of shade on hot afternoons.

5. Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS

Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS Exterior

✅Excellent control panel layout with bypass valve and water control

⛔Dinette could use a little more cushioning

  • Length: 37′ 11″
  • UVW: 9,443 lbs
  • GVWR: 11,295 lbs
  • CCC: 1,852 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,099 lbs

Grand Design RVs are some of the most popular in the country, and, of course, any trailer with a king-size bed will appease the bigger is better crowd. As far as Grand Design is concerned, why not have the best of both worlds? Out of the travel trailers with king-size beds, the Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS is one of the most acclaimed. It also comes factory-ready with a 165-watt solar setup.

Theater seating adjacent to a tri-fold sofa and a swiveling HD TV is part of an exciting package. Throw in a free-standing dinette, a large pantry, and you can see a pattern of spacious design intentions. Even the kitchen island, which sits almost directly in the middle of everything, doesn’t detract from the roomy and luxurious-feeling interior.

Regarding the king bed, it’s important to mention it’s not a standard feature from the factory. But, Many RV dealers do order the Reflection 315RLTS with the King Bed from the manufacturer. So you may be able to locate the Reflection 315RLTS at an RV dealer in your area.

6. Heartland Mallard M251BH

Heartland Mallard M251BH Exterior

✅Hideaway storage in redesigned entertainment center

⛔Glow feature in the cabinetry is a little too dim

  • Length: 29′ 7.5″
  • UVW: 6,040 lbs
  • GVWR: 7,820 lbs
  • CCC: 1,780 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 820 lbs
  • Sleep: 5 to 6

This Heartland Mallard M251BH features a rare combination in the RV industry—two full-size bunk beds with a king mattress in the master bedroom. Usually, if you see two doubles, you get a queen in the master to save some of that crucial space. Heartland saved space and gave RVers the best of both anyway.

Better yet, the double bunks are directly adjacent to a surprisingly large bathroom with a shower that offers plenty of standing room. The U-shaped dinette is luxury personified, with thick, black cushioning around a table more than large enough to accommodate a large family.

The kitchen has plenty of counter space, and the pantry is exceptionally large, big enough to walk into. The hideaway storage is really nice and can be used as a gear storage closet since the door is next to the RV’s entry door.

7. Jayco Eagle 330RSTS

Jayco Eagle 330RSTS Exterior

✅Standard, dual whisper-ducted A/C at 30,000BTU total

⛔Dinette is smallish for a 6-sleeper travel trailer

  • Length: 40’ 1”
  • UVW: 10,665 lbs
  • GVWR: 12,250 lbs
  • CCC: 1,585 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,360 lbs

The Jayco Eagle 330 RSTS is one of the more laid-back, relaxing, and luxurious travel trailers on the list. With the king-size bed being a part of the slide-out, the amount of space in the master bedroom is fantastic. It’s about as close as you can get to the feeling of being in a master bedroom in a residential home.

Even the shower has a seat, surrounded by a fairly large bathroom. The 330RSTS feels even more open thanks to several overhead storage compartments—one over the tri-fold sofa, one over the kind bed, and one over the entertainment center.

Jayco also focused on durability and longevity in the manufacturing of the 330RTS. A magnum truss roof rests on top of Stronghold VBL laminated walls. The tech is just as nice as the comfort, including the JayCommand Smart RV System, a Helix Cooling System, Climate Shield weather protection, and LED illuminated universal docking station.

8. Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 30BHS

Keystone Cougar Half Ton 30BHS Exterior

✅Hyper deck flooring (high-performance, water-resistant)

⛔Too much RV for a true, half-ton truck

  • Length: 34’ 5”
  • UVW: 7,339 lbs
  • GVWR: 9,500 lbs
  • CCC: 2,161 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 790 lbs

Outside of the ‘half-ton’ moniker (it won’t take much in the way of additional weight to make it un-towable with most half-ton trucks), the floorplan on the Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 30BHS is excellent. It can easily accommodate 6 to 7, both space-wise and for sleeping.

As one of the mid-size travel trailers with a king-size bed, the Cougar half-ton offers plenty of space around the bedroom. You don’t have to turn sideways to walk around three sides of the bed.

The rear bunk section is designed to flow into the living room/kitchen area without a problem. If you have a child on each bunk and another sleeping on the convertible dinette, the kids can still have their own spaces near each other.

The dual-entry bathroom is large, spacious and acts as a separator between the master bedroom and the rest of the RV. With two sliding doors, the kids can use the bathroom at night, while mom and dad can keep their door locked on their side. This way, privacy can be maintained.

9. KZ Connect C292RDK

KZ Connect C292RDK Exterior

✅Large desk for a work-from-home office

⛔Desk is at a 90° angle from the dinette, creating a potential space issue

  • Length: 32’ 5”
  • UVW: 7,170 lbs
  • GVWR: 9,175 lbs
  • CCC: 2,005 lbs

The KZ Connect C292RDK has excellent counter space, especially when you include the island. This KZ Connect model also features a walk-in pantry and a decent-sized desk area for those who want to live and work remotely through the RV lifestyle. The dinette and a sizeable 70′ sofa are situated opposite the entertainment center, which is almost always the best arrangement.

The master bedroom is also very spacious, with enough room for two. The master bedroom has an opposing wardrobe with a washer and dryer prep installed. The dual-opposing slide-outs really add to the roomy feel of the living room area and galley.

If you prefer to take things outdoors, the 20′ awning offers plenty of shade over a mini-kitchen with a slide-out griddle. You also have access to pass-through storage on the exterior front of the RV. Though it’s designated to sleep 5, there is still more than enough space throughout to host guests for dinners, get-togethers, or parties.

10. Lance 2465

Lance 2465 Exterior

✅ Incredible lighting potential with window placement and LEDs

⛔Tieback straps on the pocket doors could be a little stronger

  • Length: 29’ 10”
  • UVW: 6,830 lbs
  • GVWR: 8,900 lbs
  • CCC: 2070 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 930 lbs

If there’s one thing that really extenuates space, it’s light. The Lance 2465 has a lot of natural light going for it, thanks to the windows. This is especially true in the J-lounge, a nice, J-shaped couch surrounded by windows, specifically a very large front window. It’s the perfect spot to relax and take a nap on a warm, lazy afternoon.

The mid-bathroom serves two functions—a place to go to the bathroom, and it separates the master bedroom from the rest of the RV. The middle bathroom not only grants privacy to the master bedroom but also adds a few extra layers of soundproofing.

The galley is perfectly integrated into the living space with a sizeable dinette, some decent counter space, and a TV that’s strategically positioned to be out of the way. You won’t have to worry about knocking yourself out when standing up from one of the cabinets.

For those that are looking for a great RV to work on the road, the Lance 2465 has an amazing desk in the master bedroom. It has both house-type 110V and USB outlets for your computer and all of your peripherals. You’ll have plenty of daylight to work from with the window against the wall.

Remember to put your office devices away if you want to lay in bed later that night and enjoy the TV on the elevator rising from the back of the desk.

11. Palomino Puma 31FKRK

Palomino Puma 31FKRK Exterior

✅ Two entrances with LCI aluminum solid step system

⛔ Old school, non-digital thermostat

  • Length: 37’ 10”
  • UVW: 8,693 lbs
  • GVWR: 9,995 lbs
  • CCC: 1,302 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,195 lbs

Though travel trailers with a king-size bed are nice, that’s not even the standout feature on the Palomino Puma 31FKRK . The counter space in the galley is fantastic. King beds as a part of the slide-out are always a good idea, adding much more room to the master bedroom.

In this case, there is plenty of extra room for a very large wardrobe, a washer and dryer prep area, and a dresser. Though the bathroom is located at the midway point, it doesn’t entirely divide the master from the rest of the RV.

The dual recliners and the large dinette provide plenty of sitting and lounging spots, especially if you have an average-size family and want to host a few more guests. Speaking of guests, you can choose an optional exterior package that includes an outside kitchen with a griddle.

12. Prime Time Lacrosse 3375FE

Prime Time Lacrosse 3375FE Exterior

✅Large bathroom counter with dual sinks

⛔Entertainment seating is 90° from the TV

  • Length: 38’ 2”
  • UVW: 8,839 lbs
  • GVWR: 11,280 lbs
  • CCC: 2,441 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,080 lbs

Couples looking for a lot of space in a travel trailer will enjoy the Prime Time LaCrosse 3375FE . The dual sink is a huge draw for couples looking for the ultimate RVing experience. Two sinks in an RV bathroom are not very common, especially within the range of travel trailer sizes on our list. It’s very convenient, especially for those couples who ignite world wars over sink space.

The entertainment area is exceptional, with a theater sofa opposite a hide-a-bed sofa and a large 50″ HDTV between them. Since the bathroom is on the end with the master bedroom beside it, the overall design caters to couples.

The kitchen space is roomy, with an island that features a dual-well sink. The dinette is fairly standard and straightforward, while the counter space is more than adequate.

13. Starcraft GSL 321BHS

Starcraft GSL 321BHS Exterior

✅Dual-mode, dual-zone speaker system with Bluetooth

⛔Very dark aesthetic

  • Length: 38’
  • UVW: 8,445 lbs
  • CCC: 1,550 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,005 lbs

If you love technology, arguing with the Starcraft GSL 321BHS is hard. This travel trailer features the TraveLINK Smart RV System, a dual-mode, dual-zone speaker system with Bluetooth, miZONE technology, and a JBL Aura Cube stereo. Some of those listed technologies are integrated, but each stands on its own.

With the TraveLINK Smart RV System, you have smartphone control over much of the RV, including the awnings, various music zones throughout and outside of the RV, the thermostat, the lights, and the slides. Its simplification through technology places most of the RV’s major features in your hand.

If you like a visually dark aesthetic, you’ll love the interior design, which is also very roomy, with enough to support up to 10 throughout the day and at bedtime. The master bedroom isn’t a tight squeeze either, though it doesn’t close off from the rest of the house.

14. Venture RV Sporttrek Touring Edition STT343VIK

Venture RV Sporttrek Touring Edition STT343VIK Exterior

✅Full-blown exterior kitchen looks incredible

⛔The oven space in the kitchen is a little tight

  • Length: 37’ 5”
  • UVW: 8,970 lbs
  • GVWR: 10,785 lbs
  • CCC: 1,815 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,150 lbs

Venture RV Sporttrek Touring Edition STT343VIK is a pretty big name. Fortunately, we’re covering travel trailers with king-size beds and not names. Besides, the STT343VIK has a lot to offer. It’s one of those travel trailer designs where not a single square inch of space is wasted.

The high-strength, low-alloy construction material has one of the best strength-to-weight ratios in the industry. The kitchen and living spaces are large and roomy, with a natural, polished wood aesthetic that screams luxury design.

This is also another example of a king bed with extra space augmented by a third slide-out. It makes so much sense with beds these large and leaves a lot of room for other amenities.

15. Winnebago Voyage V3538BR

Winnebago Voyage V3538BR Exterior

✅Full windows and a large dinette make for a spacey dining area

⛔Only two small windows in the bedroom

  • Length: 38’ 11”
  • UVW: 9,582 lbs
  • GVWR: 11,000 lbs
  • CCC: 1,418 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 1,018 lbs

Last but not least, in our list of the best travel trailers with a king-size bed, we have the Winnebago Voyage V3538BR. Winnebago has a long and illustrious history with the luxury side of RVs. The Voyage is a nice compromise among space, design strategy, and luxury.

As you can see, the above floorplan suggests a queen bed, but you can choose the king bed as an option as well. Wired for 50-amp service, the V3538BR includes a washer/dryer hook-up and multiple wardrobes in the master.

You’ll also enjoy the fantastic storage or sleeping options in the bunkhouse. Use it for your family or turn it into an office space. The incredibly spacious kitchen has plenty of counter space for preparing meals. The living space and entertainment center are great for relaxing on the theater seats.

What is the Difference Between a Residential King and an RV King Mattress?

The difference between a residential king and an RV version is that the RV King and RV Short King can be shorter and narrower by a small amount. RV designers did this to make sure the mattresses fit in some of the more narrow slideout boxes or other narrower situations.

There are a few fundamental differences within that shorter versus longer spectrum. Just like residential kings come in standard and California kings, RV kings have differences too. There are four RV king mattress sizes :

  • RV Short King – 75″ x 72″
  • RV King – 80″ x 72″
  • Eastern King – 80″ x 76″
  • RV California King – 84″ x 72″

Can You Put a Residential King Mattress in a Travel Trailer?

In some cases, it’s possible to place a residential king mattress in a travel trailer that uses an RV king or Queen mattress. However, you need to do a few things first. You have to measure how much additional space the new bigger mattress will take up in your RV’s master bedroom and see if it will fit between the side furniture and still leave you walking space around it.

You may have to replace the platform that the mattress will lay on to support it. Modifying the existing one may work, but if the dimensions of the plyboard isn’t wide enough, you will have to replace it.

This may also include adding stronger lift arms to hold the increased weight of the new mattress and a bigger platform. To give you an idea, here are the dimensions for all of the available residential king mattresses on the market.

  • Standard King – 76″ x 80″ (A.K.A. Eastern King)
  • California King – 72″ x 84″
  • Texas King – 80″ x 98″
  • Wyoming King – 84″ x 84″
  • Alaska King – 144″ x 84″

What is the Smallest Travel Trailer with a King-Size Bed?

The smallest travel trailers with a king-size bed are the Cruiser RVs (insert a variety of models here). They use a patented sliding system known as the King Bed Slide System. The only exception to the rule is Cruiser RV’s slideouts, which don’t need the sliding system.

Also, if you’re looking into the smaller, teardrop-side of travel trailers, the Harriet 6 x 10, the Casita Liberty, and the Coachmen Clipper Classic 1285SST all feature king-size beds.

Is the Best Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living a King-Size Bed Model?

Well, the best travel trailer for full-time living comes with a bed that works for you. If you have a lot of dogs or a combative significant other that loves to wiggle and roll all night, a king should probably be in your RVer future.

However, queen beds are often quite enough. With no dogs and still, quiet sleeping, there’s more than enough room for a queen.

What Kind of King Mattress Can You Get for Your Travel Trailer?

The kind of mattress you get for your travel trailer depends on your personal needs. For instance, a mattress is needed to help with spine or allergy problems. There are generally four types: Latex, spring, memory foam, and air. Each has its advantages and drawbacks.

Spring mattresses are often airier, but the springs are susceptible to rust in hot and humid regions, especially if your RV goes into storage and the mattress is unused for an extended period. Memory foam is great for lower back pain but isn’t very airy. It’s also heat-sensitive, so the elasticity will wear out over time. Even with the cooling foam technology, a stored RV that heats up can affect the elasticity.

Air mattresses are great economical choices, but all it takes is a single leak to ruin the experience. Latex mattresses are probably the most comfortable, but these mattresses are the most expensive of the four. People can also be allergic to them too.

Final Thoughts on Travel Trailers with a King-Size Bed

From small to mid-size travel trailers, a king-size bed is not out of the realm of possibility. There are even more offerings than what we’ve presented, but these travel trailers stand out as some of the best on the market today.

If there’s one thing that’s difficult to associate with king beds in travel trailers, it’s space. The above travel trailers do a fantastic job of incorporating king-size beds without sacrificing everything else to the altar of space (or lack thereof). If you’re looking for a little more comfortable room in your master bedroom, any of the above will do the trick and offer much more for the prospective RVer.

We have a king sized bed in our RV and we love it! So we certainly understand why so many people are looking for the best travel trailers with a king bed too!

There are more travel trailers with king-size beds on the market than ever before! For RVers seeking a king-size bed in a travel trailer, the options are limitless.

We are asked all the time by our viewers on YouTube if we can show RVs with king-size beds for RVers who are big and tall. So, we wrote this article and made a YouTube Video all about travel trailers with king beds!

What Are the Dimensions of a King Bed in Travel Trailers?

King mattresses come in a variety of sizes and dimensions, so you will need to look around to find the perfect one for you. However, you can usually assume that king-size beds will range from 74 to 76 inches wide by 76 to 80 inches long.

California King beds are approximately 72 inches wide by 84 inches long. So for you taller folks out there a California King may be the perfect king-size bed for you but we have never seen a travel trailer with a California King bed yet. And we have toured and reviewed thousands of trailers.

It’s also important to remember that RV mattresses have different dimensions compared to residential mattresses. And many manufacturers do not list the actual bed size in their specs. Some just say King Bed but who knows what size the bed is.

RV mattresses are usually smaller than the ones you use at home. So be sure to bring your tape measure like I do when we tour RVs to make sure you know exactly what you are getting.

The bathroom is a split affair, but there’s more than enough space, with a large shower and plenty of legroom. The king bed is part of a slide, offering more space in the master bedroom, with a second, large window for plenty of natural lighting throughout the day.

Regardless of which entertainment seating arrangement you elect to go with, the TV is directly across from it, which is always a very welcome feature. King bed or queen, you still get dual, flanking wardrobes for hanging clothes or extra storage space.

The bathroom is split but, again, this allows for more counter space and legroom in each room. The king bed may be large, but you’ll still have plenty of room to walk around it. Also, if you work remotely, there’s enough room at the foot of the king for an extensive office space, with plenty of drawers and a telescoping TV.

The rest of the kitchen forms an L. So, you get the best of both worlds, with plenty of kitchen counter space and a whole bathroom. If you like spending most of your time outside, there’s an optional, exterior dinette, centered under an 18′ awning.

4 Things to Consider When Buying a Travel Trailer with a King-Size Bed

When you are shopping for a new trailer, there are several things you need to consider when looking at the bed it comes with.

These factors will have a serious impact on which RV you purchase, so it is important to take your time with the process. By taking your time you will ensure that you purchase the best RV possible.

1. How Many People Will Be Sleeping in the Travel Trailer?

The most important thing to figure out before you purchase an RV or travel trailer is how many people will be sleeping in it at a time. This affects the size of the trailer you are going to purchase, and it affects how many beds you are going to need. It will also have an effect on the types of beds you want in your trailer.

If you are planning on traveling with your spouse, then it might be a good idea to get a king-size bed. It is large enough for both of you to sleep in and is more space-efficient than two twin beds.

However, if you are planning on mostly traveling with your friends, it might not be in your best interest to purchase a king-size bed. Instead, you might be better off getting a trailer with several twin beds to save space. If you are the only one that will be sleeping in the king bed, then it is a waste of space.

2. Overall Design of the Travel Trailer

You also need to consider the overall design of the trailer. RVs and trailers can have significant variations in their designs. As a result, a bed that fits in one trailer may not fit in another. Therefore, you will need to factor in the design of your trailer before you purchase your bed.

If you have a smaller trailer it might not even be possible to fit a king-size bed in the trailer. Other trailers might be big enough, but you may have to give up the night tables on each side of the bed to increase from a queen bed to a king bed.

3. Storage Space Under the King Bed

The first time you pack for an RV trip, you will quickly realize that it is hard to fit everyone’s things into the trailer. Along with the things you need for certain activities like fishing gear, it can be hard to pack everything into the trailer.

So, you need to learn what to bring and what to leave behind. However, there are things you can do to give yourself a little bit more storage space. One of those things is to purchase a king bed with storage space underneath it.

Several beds go into an RV and take up an entire section of the room, taking away all available storage space. There is no space under the bed, making it almost impossible to store things in the master bedroom. However, you can purchase a trailer with a king bed that has storage space under it.

This will give an immense amount of extra storage because all that space underneath your bed becomes storage space. You will be getting extra storage without taking up any extra space in the trailer. By doing this you will give yourself the ability to bring a few extra things with you on your trip.

4. Is There a Separate Bedroom?

One more thing to consider is if you need a trailer with a separate bedroom so it is closed off from the rest of the trailer. For example, if you and your spouse have different sleep schedules, like one of you is a night owl and the other is an early riser, then a separate bedroom may be worth considering.

Are There Any Travel Trailers With 2 King Beds?

travel trailers for sale with king size bed

There are travel trailers with king beds, however, they are pretty rare and difficult to find. The Keystone Outback 343DB is one of them and it’s surprisingly lightweight, leaving the factory at 8,265 lbs UVW, with a hitch weight of 1,165 lbs.

If you’re looking for something smaller, there are some travel trailers out there with a king and queen, or a queen and queen. For instance, the Cherokee Grey Wolf 29QB features two queen-size beds. The Grand Design Solitude 391DL comes with two queens, but a king in the primary bedroom is an option.

Final Words About Travel Trailers With a King Bed

Travel trailers with a king bed are surprisingly common, as the ten on this list attests. Plus, there are many more options out there as well, such as the above-listed Grand Design and Cherokee options.

Some RVers just love that extra sleeping space and, if you’re simply used to sleeping in a king and looking to dive headlong into the RVing lifestyle, you don’t necessarily have to sacrifice your sleeping accommodations.

  • Dry Weight 6,915-pounds
  • Payload Capacity 1,885-Pounds
  • GVWR 8,800-pounds
  • Hitch Weight 810-pounds
  • Freshwater Tank 60-gallons
  • Gray Water Tank 60-gallons
  • Black Water Tank 30-gallons

Keystone is one of the more trusted RV manufacturers . The Cougar Half-Ton 29BHS was designed with traveling families in mind.

This also means a spacious master suite with a king-size bed designed to give parents a little bit of extra space from the kids.

Keystone also understands that families prioritize long-term value and that they want to invest in an RV that won’t rapidly depreciate.

Especially, if they are thinking about selling or downsizing after the kids are grown and off to college.

To that end, the Cougar 29BHS was designed with Keystone’s Tru-Fit™ slide construction as well as their extra-durable RoadArmor™ suspension.

This makes this camper trailer it easy to pull, even over rough terrain, without suffering the wear and tear that shortens the life of lesser travel trailers.

Yet it can also expand to provide you the kind of interior living space you would expect to find in a larger fifth-wheel camper.

Inside there are the amenities and features a family wants to see in a high-quality travel trailer.

This includes a 60-gallon freshwater tank to supply the toilet shower and kitchen. With a 60-gallon gray water tank and a 30-gallon black water tank.

Sleeping accommodations include a master suite in the front with a king-size bed.

In the back, there’s also a bunk bed set up, each with double mattresses. For extra-large families or a family that travels with a friend or two, there’s also a tri-fold couch that opens up into a spare bed.

2.  Palomino Puma 31FKRK Travel Trailer

Palomino Puma 31FKRK

  • Sleeps up to 6
  • Dry Weight 8,693-pounds

  • Hitch Weight 1,195-pounds

  • Gray water tank 67-gallons
  • Black water tank 32-gallons

Palomino is another one of the stronger RV brand manufacturers. The Puma is available in a variety of floor plans and amenity packages.

The 31FKRK is tailored more to RV traveling couples and small families who still want a spacious king-size bed with the privacy of a master suite in their travel trailer.

The main living area is nicely appointed with a pair of recliners as well as a modest-size couch, which folds out into a double bed.

It also has a large kitchen with copious storage and a dinette area that doesn’t leave you feeling cramped.

It’s also worth noting that since the kitchen is in the front of the travel trailer, you get a better look at the surrounding scenery out of the large windows.

The Palomino Puma 31FKRK has a 51-gallon freshwater tank, as well as a 67-gallon gray water tank and a 32-gallon black water tank.

These are impressive numbers for a travel trailer that was designed to technically sleep only up to 6 people.

This makes it attractive to small families who like to get off the grid for a boondoggling adventure.

Just bear in mind that the large 67-gallon gray water tank gives you plenty of storage for handwashing and shower water.

The black water storage tank though might fill up first, depending on how often you flush.

So, if you are going to take this travel trailer off the beaten path for a few days you might want to also invest in a portable waste water tank.

3. Jayco White Hawk 32KBS

Jayco Whitehawk 32KBS

  • The master suite in the front with a king-size bed
  • Dry Weight 7,545-pounds
  • Payload Capacity 1,430-pounds

  • Hitch Weight 780-pounds
  • Freshwater tank 42-gallons
  • Gray water tank 61-gallons
  • Black water tank 30.5-gallons

Jayco White Hawk 32 KBS travel trailer   was designed to cater to couples who need a lightweight travel trailer but still prioritize a king-size bed.

This particular travel trailer floor plan has a modest-sized master suite in the front, which includes a comfortable window bench and an electric fireplace as well as a king-size bed.

There is also a tri-fold sofa bed in the relatively large living room area.

This technically gives the Jayco White Hawk 32 KBS the ability to sleep up to six, though four campers might be more realistic.

Especially on a longer trip where people might want a little more elbow room.

The entertainment center in this travel trailer is something that stands out. You get a large screen TV as well as another electric fireplace.

This means you can connect this RV to a generator or an RV park’s shore power for additional heating on a cool summer or fall evening.

It’s a great way to keep warm on a cool evening, without necessarily having to tap into your travel trailer’s propane supply just to fire up the furnace.

The bathroom in the rear is arguably a little bit on the small side. Still, there’s enough room in the shower stall to not feel cramped.

The toilet, shower, bathroom sink, and two-basin kitchen sink are all fed by a 42-gallon freshwater tank.

There is also a 61-gallon gray water tank and a 30.5-gallon black water tank. This is a little on the small side for a couple that wants to boondoggle off the grid but should be just fine for life in an RV park.

4. The Heartland North Trail 33RETS Travel Trailer

The Heartland North Trail 33RETS

  • Master suite with king-size bed
  • Sleeps up to 4
  • Dry Weight 8,669-pounds
  • GVWR 9,600-pounds
  • Hitch Weight 799-pounds
  • Freshwater tank 52-gallons
  • Black water tank 42-gallons
  • Gray water tank 42-gallons

Heartland North Trail is another travel trailer RV that is designed to cater to couples and small families who want the comfort and luxury of a king-size bed when they travel .

It has a king-size bed in the front with an adjacent bathroom, which gives it the feel of a master suite. Though you could argue that the sleeping accommodation is a little tight.

This is a minor trade-off for the fact that you get a very large living area. It includes a nice size kitchen with a three-burner range/stove combo, a two basin sink and an extended counter or island space.

In the living room area, there is a large couch that converts into a hide-a-bed for kids or times when you have a guest couple sleep-over for a night.

The bathroom is a decent size with a fair amount of elbow room in the shower.

The freshwater tank measures in at an impressive 52-gallons, which makes the Heartland North Trail 33RETS a good option for couples who occasionally like to boondoggle or camp off the grid.

Both the gray water tank and the black water tank are 42-gallons each, and the freshwater tank rings in at 52-gallons.

This kind of overall capacity allows you to stay off the grid for longer, or at the very least it minimizes your need to run to the RV park’s dump station.

Just make sure that you invest in large-capacity portable wastewater storage tanks . That way you can empty the tank in one or two trips to the dump station.

5. The Prime Time RV La Crosse 3299SE

The Prime Time RV La Crosse 3299SE

  • Master suite with a king-size bed
  • Dry Weight 8,149-pounds
  • Payload Capacity 1,601-pounds
  • Hitch Weight 950-pounds
  • Black water tank 34-gallons
  • Gray water tank 30-gallons

Prime Time is an RV manufacturer that prides itself on units that have the feel of “Luxury” blended with high-quality materials and durability.

The result in an RV or travel trailer that holds its long-term value, while making you feel like you have all the comforts of home.

The La Crosse is one of Prime Time’s most popular lines, and as a luxury RV manufacturer, it’s no surprise that they found a way to fit a king-size bed into it .

The master suite sits in the front where there aren’t any slide-out sections. While this certainly provides added stability in the front cap, it does leave the bedroom feeling a little cramped for walk-around space.

Still, this travel trailer was designed to cater to couples and small families. So, the master suite itself is just a large sleeping chamber, while the rest of the living area is posh and expansive with two slide outs.

Prime Time made it a point to design the La Crosse 3299SE to feel like a home. Instead of a bench seat dinette, there is a freestanding dining table with four chairs.

The entertainment area also has theatre seating and a sofa that folds out into a bed for children or guests.

It has a 48-gallon freshwater tank that supports the large kitchen sink as well as the bathroom with a full-size toilet and a roomy shower stall.

The gray water tank measures in at 34-gallons and the black water tank can hold up to 30-gallons before needing to be purged.

6. The Venture RV’s SportTrek Touring STT322VRL

The Venture RV’s SportTrek Touring STT322VRL

  • Sleeps between 4 to 6 people

  • Payload Capacity 1,220-pounds
  • Hitch Weight 1,010-pounds
  • Freshwater tank 40-gallons
  • Gray water tank 32-gallons

The Venture RV’s SportTrek Touring line is available in up to 10 different floor plans. In this line, the STT322VRL stands out as the best option for a travel trailer with a king-size bed.

It has a modest master suite in the front with a king-size bed that is incorporated directly into the front slide-out section.

It also has a fold-out couch that turns into a bed. All things considered, you technically you can sleep up to six people in the SportTrek Touring STT322VRL.

Still, you could argue that 4 people is a more reasonable number for a longer trip, where people often prioritize having a little extra space.

SportTrek Touring STT322VRL floor plan

Being able to sleep one or two extra people is still handy for those times when you might want to accommodate overnight guests.

The main living area is spacious thanks to another large slide-out section. The kitchen is well appointed and the bathroom is larger than you might think at first glance. Both are supported by the 40-gallon freshwater tank.

The Venture RV SportTrek Touring STT322VRL also has a 32-gallon gray water tank and a 32-gallon black water tank.

This rides the line between being an RV for boondoggling off the grid and fits better for RV travelers who want to stay connected to the services of an RV park.

7. Cruiser RV – Radiance R-26 KB

Cruiser RV – Radiance R-26 KB

  • A master suite with a king-size bed
  • Dry Weight 5,856-pounds
  • Payload Capacity 1,740-pounds
  • GVWR 7,644-pounds
  • Hitch Weight 644-pounds
  • Freshwater tank 44-gallons
  • Black water tank 30-gallons

Cruiser is another well-established name in the RV industry, though still not as popular as the titans like Jayco, Palomino, or Keystone.

The Cruiser RV – Radiance R-26 KB was designed to appeal to couples and small families with a tight budget, or simply those who want to have as much money on hand for travel expenses as possible.

With that in mind, the Cruiser RV – Radiance R-26 KB floor plan has a complete king size bed mounted in the front near the nose cap of the travel trailer.

It fits snuggly in the modest master suite. The main living area also includes a fold-out sofa bed and seating that can also double as a sleeping space.

This means you can technically sleep up to six people in this travel trailer. Though four is more realistic.

The bathroom is larger than you might think for an economy travel trailer with a king-size bed.

There is enough space for one person to shower while the other gets ready for the day at the sink.

The kitchen is also rather large with an above-average amount of counter and storage space as well as a convenient trash shoot.

Both the kitchen and the bathroom are supplied by the Cruiser RV – Radiance R-26 KB’s 44-gallon freshwater tank.

This travel trailer also has a 30-gallon gray water tank as well as a 30-gallon black water tank.

This is enough to support a small family or a couple for more than a few days off the grid, or simply spare you having to make a quick run to the RV dump station every day or two

It’s also worth noting that the Cruiser RV – Radiance R-26 KB only has a GVWR of 7,644-pounds and a hitch weight of 644-pounds.

This means it is comfortably in range for most half-ton pickup trucks to tow. Still, it’s probably a little too large for a mid-size SUV.

8. Dutchmen Kodiak Ultimate 3321BHSL Travel Trailer

Dutchmen - Kodiak Ultimate 3321BHSL

  • Sleeps up to 8 people
  • King size bed in a separate master suite
  • 2 convertible sofa beds
  • 3 bunk beds
  • Dry Weight of 7,368-pounds
  • Payload Capacity of 2,312-pounds
  • Hitch Weight of 894-pounds
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 50-gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity of 78-gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity of 28-gallons

Dutchmen are one of the stronger names in the RV industry with a long-standing reputation for providing campers, fifth-wheel campers, and travel trailers to suit just about every need.

Their Kodiak Ultimate 3321BHSL was designed to sleep large families or to serve as a base camp for groups of people.

At a glance, it almost whispers to you that it was meant to sleep a fall hunting party.

The spacious master suite sits in the front nose cap of the camper and is separated by the large bathroom.

There’s also a traditional door separating it from the rest of the travel trailer’s living space. This gives it a greater sense of privacy for a couple.

There isn’t a slideout in the front, so the storage space around the king-size bed is a little sparse, but you can make the most out of what is there.

The main living area relies on three different slide outs to provide enough space to sleep up to six more people.

This comes in the form of two convertible sofa beds, as well as three spacious bunk beds.

The bunkhouse area even converts into a large dinette section for times when everyone needs to eat at the same time. It’s a great option for families who want to share a communal meal.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Ductmen Kodiac Ultimate comes with a 50-gallon freshwater storage tank as well as a 78-gallon gray water tank and a 28-gallon black water tank.

This 1:2 ratio means that you could potentially bring additional water with you in a separate storage tank for an extended stay off the grid.

It’s a great idea for hunting parties that want to boondoggle for a week or more, without having to rely on the resources of an RV park.

9. The Forest River RV Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8335BSS

The Forest River RV Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8335 BSS

  • Dry Weight of 8,140-pounds

The Forest River RV Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8335BSS was designed to sleep a large number of people.

This includes a living area with two convertible sofa beds, as well as a large kitchen, and a separate bathroom with a private feel to it.

Each of the dual slide outs also has its access door. This means that the master suite in the rear has its door for a truly private feel.

Since it slides out and it’s in the rear, it also has copious storage space including plenty of room for clothing as well as other essential items.

Technically, on paper, this travel trailer can sleep up to 8 people. However, I think you could argue that 5 to 6 is a more comfortable range. Especially if you are going to be traveling with teenagers.

The Forest River RV Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8335BSS has an impressive 60-gallon fresh water storage tank, as well as a very large 90-gallon gray water tank.

Even the 33-gallon black water tank that supports the toilet is large.

This all means that this travel trailer can support a family or small group of people for multiple days without having to connect to an RV park’s services or making a run to a certified dump station.

10. KZ Sportsmen LE Toyhauler 291THLE

KZ Sportsmen LE Toyhauler 291THLE

  • King size bed
  • Cargo Area Length is 11-feet
  • Area Heigh 82-inches
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 38-gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity of 32-gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity of 32-gallons
  • Full kitchen
  • Bathroom with toilet and shower

The KZ Sportsmen LE Toyhauler 291THLE is technically a “Toy Hauler” that was designed to carry snow machines or ATVs for adventures into the bush.

It’s especially popular with hunters who want to bring their UTV with them for extended fall hunting trips.

Though it is also appealing to tradesmen and construction workers who need to work on off-the-grid job sites.

Depending on the make and model the large rear cargo bay can potentially hold two snow machines or two ATVs.

When you get to where you are going the rear hatch door opens, and you back out your equipment.

The interior space is then converted into a spacious living quarters. There’s even a front slide-out section for the dinette.

The front nose cap area of this toy hauler trailer holds a king-size bed. Though there isn’t a defining door or partition to make it feel like a true master suite.

However, the bathroom near the rear does separate the aft sleeping area, which does provide for more nighttime privacy.

With the dual convertible sofa beds, you can comfortably sleep up to 6 people, though KZ states 8 on paper.

This particular toy hauler has a 38-gallon freshwater storage tank, as well as a 32-gallon gray water tank and a very large 32-gallon black water tank.

This means you could support the bathroom and kitchen off the grid for up to a week or longer.

Depending on whether or not you also haul additional freshwater supplies with you.

11. Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series

Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series

  • Dry Weight of 9,670-pounds
  • Payload Capacity of 1,610-pounds
  • Hitch Weight of 1,420 lbs.
  • Sleeps up to 7 people
  • 3-slideouts

Dubbed a “Destination Trailer” the Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series   comes lavishly appointed with sleeping space for up to 7 people.

This includes a pair of convertible sofa beds in the main living quarters as well as a bunk bed arrangement and a king-size bed in the rear master suite .

All this living space and sleeping area are thanks in large part to three slide-out sections.

When you get to your destination the sidewalls expand and you can deploy the interior as you see fit.

In the king-size master suite, the Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series has a surprising amount of floor space to walk around.

There are also cabinets and other innovative storage features that make it feel like you truly do have all the comforts of home at your fingertips.

One possible downside to the Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series is the overall weight and the towing dynamics.

You truly need a three-quarter or even a one-ton pickup truck to tow this monster.

It is meant to be something you take from Point A to Point B and then you stay for a while at your destination.

It’s probably not the right travel trailer for you if you’re an RV traveler who likes to explore multiple locations on a trip.

It’s meant to appeal more to snowbirds or tradesmen who need a home away from home while working on a remote job site.

Things To consider When Choosing RVs with King Size Beds

This buyers guide will help identify key characteristics to consider when shopping for the best travel trailer with a king-size bed.

This includes factoring in how you are most likely to use it, as well as other important things like the number of people that will sleep in your home-away-from-home.

Important Luxury Travel Trailer Characteristics

RVs are designed to let you take the comforts of home with you when you are on the road.

This leads many couples and traveling families to relatively lightweight travel trailers with a king-size bed.

Of course, not all travel trailers are the same, and some merely wedge the biggest bed possible into whatever corner of the RV it will fit into.

Finding the best travel trailer with a king-size bed for you requires a keen eye for a few important characteristics.

The Number Of People The Travel Trailer Sleeps

A king-size bed is typically reserved for the master suite where a couple or the parents of the family will sleep.

If you have children, you need to take into account the sleeping accommodations. Especially if you are planning on having more in the future! It’s also worth bearing in mind that their current ages can also influence the size of the bed they prefer.

A small child, for instance, might be completely enthralled at the idea of sleeping on a tri-fold couch all by themselves.

Yet a teenager will likely want to have a little private space of their own and may even demand a double bed or a double bunk bed.

Bathroom Size And Water Tank Capacity

Most travel trailers are designed with floor plans that will only accommodate a shower stall.

Still, there are a few that might have a bathtub available as some part of an upgrade package.

In general, a traveling couple will need less freshwater, gray water, and black water storage than a family of four.

The more children you have and the older they are the larger you want the storage tanks to be.

Not only does this equate to having more water on hand for bathing and washing extra dishes, but it will also spare you from having to take multiple runs to the RV dump station.

Which can be a major factor if you don’t happen to have a portable RV waste tank .

When it comes to travel trailers with a king-size bed, space is often at a premium.

For some manufacturers, this translates into designing models with one or more slide-out sections.

While it isn’t an absolute must for your travel trailer to have them, it’s handy and at a glance speaks to a more spacious interior.

They are especially nice if the slide-out is incorporated into the master suite.

Since most king size mattresses measure in around 76-inches by 80-inches a slide-out can provide you with the walk-around and storage space that makes the difference between a “Master Bedroom” and a “Master Suite.”

Gross Weight And Hitch Weight

By design, travel trailers tend to be lighter than their fifth wheel and motorhome big brothers.

This often puts them in range for half-ton and three-quarter-ton pickup trucks to tow them .

Still, it’s worth taking the time to make sure that the GVWR and the hitch weight of the trailer are in in the specs stamped in your truck’s driver side door well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a toy hauler.

Toy hauler’s sort of ride the line between being a camper-travel trailer, and being an equipment trailer.

Most have a large rear entry door that often doubles as a loading ramp. You can then adjust the interior of the trailer to hold a snow machine, ATV, or UTV.

They are especially popular with hunters who want to bring their all-terrain vehicles with them but don’t want to invest the money and fuel cost in a separate equipment trailer.

When you get to where you’re going the rear door opens again, the machines are backed out and you can convert the interior space into convenient living quarters.

With some toy haulers, the cargo bay might also house a king or queen size murphy bed.

Can I Upgrade From A Queen Size Mattress To A King?

Let’s say you’ve fallen in love with a particular RV travel trailer, but it only has a queen size bed in the master suite.

Whether or not you can upgrade to a king-size mattress depends a little bit on the manufacturer, the dealer you are getting the bed from, and the way the master suite or bedroom area was engineered.

In some cases where the master suite is large enough to accommodate it, the dealer might offer an upgrade package via the manufacturer or their in-house staff.

If you happen to already have a travel trailer, but the queen size mattress it came with isn’t enough anymore, you might be able to D-I-Y a king-size conversion.

Just pay attention to how the bed is installed. In some cases, the underlying frame will need to be mounted to act as a box spring. Of course, this is always a case of measure twice and cut once.

Are There Travel Trailers With A King Size Murphy Bed?

They are very rare when it comes to being in a travel trailer’s “Standard Package.”

This is due mostly to the overall size of the mattress and the robust hardware needed to both hold the king size murphy bed in place as well as lower it down.

However, there are some manufacturers and dealers who do offer an aftermarket conversion kit as part of an upgrade package. Unfortunately, most RV murphy beds are limited to queen-size mattresses.

Do I Need A Travel Trailer With A Slide Out?

Slide-out sections are very nice for RV travelers who want to fit a king-size bed in their travel trailer.

A few are even designed so that the king size mattress and underlying frame move with the slide-out itself.

So, while it’s not a hard and fast requirement, a travel trailer with one or more slide-out sections is certainly convenient.

What Are The Dimensions Of An Average King Size Bed?

The average king size bed measure in at 76-inches wide by around 80-inches long. Thickness can vary depending on the type of mattress.

A single pillow top mattress might only measure in at a little over 12-inches thick.

A plush king size mattress with dual pillow tops could be as much as 16 or even 18 inches thick.

The advantage of the dual pillow top is also that you can periodically flip it and use the other side, which extends the lifespan and overall comfort.

Conclusion

While a king-size bed might seem like a simple luxury, it’s not always the sort of thing you find in a travel trailer.

Though you shouldn’t let this lure you into thinking that king-size beds are just made for fifth-wheel RVs and luxury motorhomes.

As you can see, there are a few manufacturers who offer travel trailer campers with a king-size bed or the ability to host a king-size bed.

The best travel trailer with a king-size bed for you and your family can vary depending on how large your family is, and how you will most often use the camper. Not to mention your overall budget.

If you have a larger family of more than four people or you want to occasionally host overnight guests during your trip, then you might want to lean toward the Keystone RV Cougar Half-Ton Series 29BHS.

This travel trailer has a king-size bed in the master suite, but it also has enough sleeping accommodation to handle up to 10 people.

The dual, double bunk beds are also a nice touch if you have teenagers who need to feel like they have their own space.

On the other hand, couples and small families who want to travel with a bit of luxury might want to lean toward the Prime Time RV La Crosse 3299SE.

Not only is it tastefully appointed and made from high-end materials and design, but this travel trailer also has a king-size bed made for comfort.

Small families and couples who like to boondoggle off the grid in their travel trailer, might want to give a good hard look at the Heartland North Trail 33RETS.

This travel trailer has a king-size bed as well as the storage capacity and features to support you for multiple days without having to break camp for water or a trip to the nearby RV dump station.

12 Best Travel Trailers with King Beds + Video Tours

Sleeping in your huge king bed at home may feel like a big luxury, but sleeping in a king bed in a travel trailer feels even nicer.

Especially after a long day of hiking, biking, or swimming, nothing feels better than coming home to your comfy king bed.

There are tons of travel trailers out there with large, king sized beds so you don’t have to sacrifice your sleeping comfort just because you’re in a trailer.

Whether you want to sleep 3 in a single bed, or you just want to sleep by yourself starfish-style, there are plenty of travel trailers with king beds to choose from…

Why a Travel Trailer with a King Bed?

  • More sleeping room: Of course, this is the obvious one. If you have a king bed at home and don’t want to downsize, you don’t have to! King beds mean you can fit one more person in your RV since three people can sleep relatively comfortably in a king bed.
  • Bedroom suites: Many travel trailers with king beds have enclosed, private bedrooms. This means if you’re traveling with family, you’ll be able to escape to your bedroom suite that’s usually separated from the living area and other sleeping areas.
  • High-end trailers: A travel trailer with king bed is definitely considered a luxury amenity. This means that trailers with king beds generally have “fancier” amenities overall. If you pick a travel trailer with a king bed you’ll likely have other amenities that are just as luxurious as a king bed.

Are Camping Trailer King Beds the Same as Regular King Beds?

A residential king bed is 76 inches wide, and 80 inches long. They’re the same length as a queen bed but they’re over a foot wider.

In travel trailers with king beds, it’s very rare to find a bed that’s 76 inches wide. Typical travel trailers will have an “RV king” which will be between 70 and 74 inches wide.

King size beds in travel trailers are not as wide as residential beds simply because there’s only so much space to work with inside a travel trailer.

  • Tri-folding sofa
  • Sleeps up to 6
  • Exterior speaker system
  • Underbelly storage space

At just 25 feet, the Cruiser RV Embrace is on the smaller end of travel trailers with king-size beds.

Cruiser RV markets the Embrace EL210 as a “couples coach”, but it can sleep up to six people with the tri-fold sofa.

The Embrace has a couple of pretty unique features, like a full underbelly storage system, as well as exterior speakers.

Cruiser RV Embrace EL210 interior

The most unique feature of the Cruiser RV travel trailers is the patent-pending sliding king-size bed.

The system allows you to slide the bed over to one side. This creates 12 inches of extra floor space in the bedroom whenever you need it.  The bedroom, though, isn’t much of a “master bedroom” since it’s basically in the same room as the kitchen and living room area.

So, this Cruiser RV travel trailer will definitely work better for just two people who may occasionally bring friends or family along.

In the bedroom, you get three large windows, an electric fireplace, and an entertainment center. Plus overhead storage cabinetry, LED lighting, and two wardrobes.

The pullout offers lots of extra floor space and natural lighting from the windows above the entertainment chairs and booth dinette. The kitchen in this trailer has maybe the most countertop space I’ve seen in any travel trailer.

What Types of King Mattresses Can You Get for Your Trailer?

Although many RV manufacturers claim that their mattresses are ultra-comfortable, this isn’t always the case. RV mattresses are notoriously thin and uncomfortable, so many people opt to purchase a mattress separately.

If you do want to pick your own mattress, there are a few different options out there. I’ll explain them and why I’d recommend (or not recommend) any of the following options.

Air Mattress: Not Recommended

Air mattresses are one option for a king mattress in travel trailers. However, I really do not recommend them because they can be really uncomfortable. Plus, you have to inflate them pretty often.

If you’re going to invest in a king sized bed for your travel trailer, invest in a quality mattress as well. An air mattress doesn’t really cut it unless it’s just temporary use.

Blow Up Competition GIF by Channel 7

Residential Memory Foam Mattress: Comfortable But Might Not Fit

Memory foam mattresses like the ones you buy online and are shipped to your house in a box are super comfortable. (If you have one, you know).

These are a super comfortable option for an RV king mattress, but you’ll have to make sure they will fit in the given space.

Since some RV king beds can be as small as 70 inches wide, the extra 6 inches on a residential mattress just might not fit in the layout of the RV.

Mattress Toppers: Great to Boost Comfort

Memory foam mattress toppers are a great option if you find your mattress is a tiny bit uncomfortable. A mattress topper will not fix all your problems, but it’ll just boost the comfort of a thin mattress a bit.

These are inexpensive and can be cut to fit the size of your mattress. You can also order a custom-sized topper from Mattress Insider .

However, they might slide around a bit and aren’t a permanent solution to a highly uncomfortable mattress.

Custom RV Mattress: My Recommendation

You’re already going all-out for comfort by getting a travel trailer with a king bed, why not purchase a custom, super comfy mattress to go with it?

With a custom RV mattress, you’ll get the comfort of a residential gel/memory foam mattress, and the fit of a mattress that’s custom made for your travel trailer.

Are there king-size murphy beds?

There aren’t currently any travel trailer manufacturers that offer king-size murphy beds. This would be an upgrade you’d have to take on yourself.

Can I use a regular king mattress in my travel trailer?

Yes you can, though it might not be a perfect fit.

Typical king bed dimensions in a travel trailer are between 70 and 74 inches wide whereas a residential king mattress is 76 inches wide.

What is the smallest travel trailer with a king bed?

The Cruiser RV Shadow Cruiser might be the smallest travel trailer out there with a king bed at just 22 feet long.

Can I put a king bed in a queen sized space in my travel trailer?

If your travel trailer has a queen size bed and you want a king, it is possible to put a king bed in the travel trailer.

You’ll need to make sure, most importantly, that there’s enough room on either side of the queen bed for a king bed to fit in the space.

Then, you may have to add some extra supports for the overhang of the mattress.

A king bed in a travel trailer may seem like a big luxury, but it’s not really such a huge reach.

The Simpsons Winter GIF

You don’t necessarily have to shell out a ton of cash or purchase a huge rig to find a travel trailer with a nice comfy king bed.

Fortunately, there are plenty of options out there, from large trailers with king beds in master suites and tons of extra sleeping room, to studio-style couple’s trailers.

And why not amp up the comfort even more by adding a custom mattress to replace the thin mattress that usually comes with travel trailers??

If you’ve done some shopping and you’re completely unsure which trailer is right for you, you can always test-drive any of these trailers and more on RVShare .

Just a FYI for would-be buyers of new travel trailers (and any other type), make sure the PDI is complete and ALL warranty repairs conducted before you leave the lot. Especially if you are not from that area and plan on taking it home in another state.

The dealers in your home state may not conduct warranty work on your trailer since you didn’t buy it from them and can’t be bothered with you. Service work may not be available as well if you didn’t buy it from them. They prioritize service techs for people that bought from them. Lastly, they may perform warranty repairs, but make you pay for the warranty work upfront and YOU then have to make your case to the Manufacturer for reimbursement.

Just my experience in my area. Your experience will vary. Find out if you can get warranty work for your trailer in your area IF you bought it elsewhere.

Wow, that was a super helpful comment! Thank you for the tip! – Stacy

The Importance of a King-Sized Bed in a Travel Trailer

A comfortable king size bed in a spacious travel trailer, offering luxurious sleeping arrangements for travelers.

When talking about comfort in a travel trailer, a king-size bed certainly takes the cake. There’s an undeniable advantage to spreading out on a king-size bed at the end of a long day of adventuring.

Compared to conventional travel trailers, those that offer a king-size bed bring a new sense of luxury and convenience typically reserved for home or high-end hotel stays.

This extra bed space allows for more comfortable sleeping arrangements, particularly for those traveling as a couple or with small children.

Comfort: A Key Part of the Caravan Experience

Travel trailers are designed to hit that sweet spot between the mobility of a camper van and the spaciousness of a larger RV, and their beds are no exception.

Having a king-size bed in a travel trailer significantly levels up the comfort factor, offering a nearly unmatched sleep experience on wheels.

The additional square footage allows travelers to stretch out and rest without feeling cramped, leading to better rest and rejuvenation for the days ahead, filled with travel and exploration.

The Responsive Design of Travel Trailers with King-Size Beds

The design of travel trailers with king-size beds is often responsive to the needs of travelers. Many models can fold or transform the bed to create additional space during the day, thus maintaining the functionality of the living area.

This flexibility can greatly enhance the convenience of your travel setup, offering the best of both worlds: plenty of room for daytime activities and a spacious and comfortable sleeping area to look forward to when the sun goes down.

Impact on Family Travel

Travel trailers equipped with a king-size bed can significantly enhance family trips. As a parent, you can comfortably share the bed with your younger children or allow for more sleeping space for older children.

This added convenience prevents you from having to invest in additional bedding solutions or deal with the discomfort of cramped sleeping arrangements.

Enhancing the Off-Grid Experience

The presence of a king-size bed in your travel trailer can also improve the quality of any off-grid experience. Exploring remote areas often means leaving behind the conveniences of civilization, but with a king-size bed, you can ensure you’re not compromising on a quality night’s sleep.

This affords you the ability to wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day’s challenges, something not to be underestimated when tackling the great outdoors.

Investment Worth: Weighing the Benefits and Costs

Travel trailers outfitted with king-sized beds may be priced on the higher end of the spectrum, but for many campers, the added comfort and expanded space make the investment valuable.

Having a bedroom setup akin to what you’d have at home can elevate a typical journey into an extraordinary travel experience. Consistent, peaceful sleep on the road is a major plus.

So, if your checklist for an ideal travel experience includes comfort, spaciousness, and convenience, a trailer boasting a king-sized bed could indeed be your ideal match.

Best Travel Trailers with King-Size Beds

Travel trailers with king-size beds offer a fantastic feature for RV enthusiasts who want extra comfort while on the road. Especially if you’re living in your RV full-time .

Here are some of the most common and best travel trailers with king-sized beds you should consider for your full-time RV escapades.

1. Spotlight: Grand Design Reflection 150 Series 295RL

Grand design reflection provides one of the best travel trailers with king sized bed in the market

Rising to the forefront of king-sized bed-equipped models is the well-reputed Grand Design Reflection 150 Series 295RL . With a floor plan expanding up to 33.5 feet, this trailer shines for lengthy travels and offers prime living space.

Despite its larger size, it ensures manageable mobility and is relatively simple to tow with a half-ton pickup.

Comfort akin to a resident setup is the model’s unique selling proposition, complemented by meticulous interior design. The king-sized bed is nestled within a designated master suite, gelling well with ample wardrobe storage and a strategic window to infuse a sense of spaciousness.

Its versatile offerings extend to include a free-standing dining area, well-crafted seating spaces, and a vibrant lounge area.

On the flip side, the model’s longer size could lead to a lesser cargo carriage capacity, and the fusion of top-notch amenities might cause additional upkeep costs down the line.

2. Forest River Flagstaff Super-Lite 27BHWS

Forest River Flagstaff super-lite floor plan with king sized bed area

Compact yet luxurious, the Forest River Flagstaff Super-Lite 27BHWS offers a king-size bed in a relatively smaller and lighter model. The unit is 32.7 feet long and weighs 6,800 pounds, making it a viable option for those with smaller towing vehicles.

The king-size bed lies within a separate bedroom area with convenient wardrobe spaces and nightstands on two sides. The trailer boasts a unique floor plan featuring two bunk beds, a dinette that converts into a bed, and a sofa bed, catering to larger groups or families.

A potential distinction is its limited luxury compared to larger models. However, for compact trailer enthusiasts, this could be the perfect blend of comfort, flexibility, and practicality.

3. Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 32RLI

An illustration of the Keystone cougar half-ton 32RLI floor plan, one of the best travel trailer with king sized bed

At almost 36 feet in length, the Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 32RLI provides an ample amount of space and comfort. The travel trailer incorporates a decent-sized kitchen, a tri-fold sleeper sofa, and a theater-seating area. The model’s highlight, of course, is the king-size bed inside the master suite.

Additional features include a 50” LED HDTV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor grill, creating an enjoyable holiday atmosphere, whether indoors or outdoors.

The only downside to this trailer could be its comparatively heavier weight—around 8,244 lbs, requires a robust vehicle for towing.

Discovering the Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow 40 Loft

Explore the exceptional Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow 40LOFT , a travel trailer that spans an imposing 40 feet in length. You’ll experience sheer comfort with its king-size bed and extra loft area—a versatile space that can double as an additional slumber or storage corner.

This model is highly regarded for its home-like features, which encompass an 18-cubic-foot refrigerator, a generous kitchen, and a cozy living area.

Transport yourself into opulence with the secluded master suite that flaunts not only a king-size bed but also a walk-in closet, offering a moving home ambiance.

The larger dimensions and significant weight (11,445 lbs) predicate the need for a powerful towing vehicle. This makes it ideal for extensive travel or full-time RVers.

Despite its grand size, it promises unrivaled comfort, making it a worthy investment for devoted travel connoisseurs.

Steps to Installing a King-Size Bed into Your Travel Trailer

An interior of luxurious travel trailer with queen sized bed for a relaxing and enjoyable trip.

Deciphering the Size of Your Travel Trailer and The Required Tools

Successfully fitting a king-sized bed into your travel trailer begins with meticulous measurements of the interior dimensions. A conventional king-sized bed spans approximately 76 inches in width and 80 inches in length.

Hence, it’s of utmost importance to confirm that your travel trailer accommodates this size. For this venture, arm yourself with basic tools like a measuring tape, a power drill, a table or circular saw, screws, and a hammer.

Having all the necessary tools at your disposal before the commencement of your project can help avoid any discontinuity.

Step-by-step Guide to Retrofitting a King-Size Bed

  • Draw out a plan: Based on your prior measurements, sketch a plan for your bed frame. Map out where the bed will be placed and make sure there’s enough room for access and movement.
  • Build the base: The base is critical for the stability of the bed. Start by cutting two pieces of plywood to serve as the longest sides of the box base. Then, cut two more pieces for the shorter sides. Screw these all together to form a box.
  • Add support: To give the base more stability, cut additional pieces of plywood to install as a center and diagonal bracing inside the box. Screw them into the middle and across the corners.
  • Build the platform: The platform where the mattress will sit can be a single sheet of plywood cut to the same dimensions as the base. Place this on top of the base and secure it using screws.
  • Install the bed: Place the frame at your preferred location in the travel trailer. Make sure it fits properly and does not obstruct any access points or pathways.
  • Add the mattress and bedding: Finally, place the king-size mattress on top of the platform and dress it up with your preferred sheets, covers, and pillows.

Safety Tips and Measures

  • Always wear protective gear. This includes safety glasses, work gloves, and suitable footwear.
  • Use your tools correctly and carefully to avoid accidents. Make sure all tools are in good working condition before you start.
  • Ensure your working area is well-lit and ventilated. Never work in cramped or uncomfortable positions.

Installing a king-size bed in your travel trailer is a great way to enhance comfort during your travels. It requires careful planning, the right tools, and adherence to safety measures.

However, with the right skills, patience, and guidance, you can successfully retrofit a king-size bed into your travel trailer.

Embracing the Upgrade

Having installed a king-size bed in your travel trailer, take time to relish the added comfort it offers. However, bear in mind that caring for your DIY king-size bed is of the utmost importance.

Make it a routine to inspect the screws and supports of your bed frame for any signs of wear and tear, making sure to make the necessary adjustments or replacements when required. Your road trips are about to get a whole lot more enjoyable with the addition of a luxurious king-size bed in your travel trailer.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Using King-Size Bed in a Travel Trailer

The Best Practices for a King-Size Bed in a Travel Trailer

After installing your king-size bed, it is important to maintain it. Knowing how to maintain your king-size bed in a travel trailer is key to making your bed last.

Regularly inspect your bed frame and mattress for signs of damage or general wear and tear. If you’re on the road frequently or carry heavy loads, vibrations from the trailer might loosen bolts and screws. Make sure to tighten these periodically.

Smart space utilization in your travel trailer can significantly enhance comfort. With your king-size bed taking up a good chunk of the trailer’s interior, it’s crucial to implement clever storage solutions.

Generally, beds equipped with built-in storage drawers can be space-saving wonders. Additionally, consider using the space beneath your bed to stow away items that you don’t need access to on a regular basis.

Choosing the right bedding for your king-size bed is equally vital for a good night’s sleep. Always opt for sheets and comforters that fit your bed just right. Picking bedding of the right size ensures that your sleep isn’t disturbed by sheets and comforters that could potentially come loose.

The Don’ts When Using a King-Size Bed in a Travel Trailer

When you have a king-size bed in your travel trailer, it must not block access to exits. It’s a key safety consideration. If the bed obstructs paths to the trailer doors or emergency windows, you should reconsider its placement.

Avoid adding excessive weight to your mattress. Keep in mind that although it’s a king-size bed, the load it carries affects the weight distribution of your trailer. Overloading it with heavy blankets or using it as extra storage space might affect the stability of the trailer and lead to performance problems.

Ignoring the quality of your mattress is another common mistake to avoid. It’s tempting to cut costs by selecting a cheaper mattress, but investing in a high-quality mattress can significantly improve your sleep and overall experience in the travel trailer.

Remember, you’ll be spending roughly a third of your time on the road sleeping, so it’s an area worth investing in.

Lastly, don’t neglect ventilation for your king-size bed in your travel trailer. A well-ventilated bed area helps keep the mattress fresh and prevents the buildup of mold and humidity. This can be prevalent in small, enclosed spaces like trailers.

You can maintain good ventilation by using breathable bed sheets and ensuring the bed is not against walls on all sides.

Summary of the Travel Trailers with King-Size Beds

Bringing homely comfort to the roads, king-size beds are undoubtedly transformative elements for travel trailers. Spotting the right model equipped with a king-size bed, or even installing one yourself, brings a notable difference to your travel experiences.

It’s not just about the comfort but also the luxury and lifestyle statement it makes. In contrast to conventional setups, the addition of a king-size bed elevates the entire ambiance of the trailer, ushering in an unmissable and quintessential change.

Furthermore, using it in the right way by keeping up with maintenance and space maximization ensures longevity and consistent luxury. After all, the adventure on wheels need not be any less comforting than your home, right? Keep these points in mind, embrace the change, and make every journey in your travel trailer a memorable escapade.

Travel Trailers With King Bed (the Best Ones!)

Published on January 17th, 2020 by Charles Joseph

RVing is one version of the downsize lifestyle that people choose to live every day. Many think that this type of living involves selling your possessions and sleeping on a tight full-size mattress. While some find this appealing, this usually isn’t the truth.

Larger RVs have square footage that rivals some apartments. There are models of towables and motorhomes that are big enough to have king-size beds. Living the RV lifestyle can be a very comfortable existence.

A king-size bed allows more room for you and your partner to get a good night’s rest. This mattress size gives taller people a chance to stretch out. If you allow your four-legged children to sleep on the bed, this should give all of you more real estate to be comfortable.

Our topic of discussion is an exploration of travel trailers with king beds as a factory-installed feature. Since this feature has wide appeal, RV manufacturers have found ways to place them in coaches. A surprising feature is how affordable they can be.

Defining a King-Sized Bed

Defining a King-Sized Bed

In the residential mattress industry, you can go to a furniture or mattress store and find a standard or California King bed. Residential furniture companies have accepted these standardized measurements. Standard kings are 72 x80 and California kings are 74 x 84.

In the RV world, mattress measurements are more fluid . Sometimes designers of RVs have to shave an inch or two off of the mattress size to allow for optimum spacing. Issues arise where they need to make sure the consumer can walk around the bed or the slideout can completely close.

Generally, you’re going to see four measurements. They can be (in inches):

  • 76 x 80 (Eastern King)
  • 72 x 84 (California King)

Using a Residential Mattress In Your RV

If you are going to replace your RV mattress with a residential mattress, take a moment to consider a few things. The designers of these mattresses construct them to keep their integrity within homes. While they may fit in your RV, it may not work optimally for you.

Many residential mattresses work in conjunction with a matched box spring. In your RV, your mattress will lay on top of a wood platform. The comfort and support the mattress company promises may be different.

Using your mattress without the box spring could void the warranty because you are not using it the way the manufacturer recommends. The mattress could feel different than it did in the store. As it loses integrity from continued use, you could start having back or joint issues in extreme cases.

The mattress in your RV is also exposed to humidity and more variant temperatures than a residence. Innersprings can begin to rust, and memory foam weakens with heat. You may find yourself replacing your mattress about every five years as a full-timer.

Our Search For The Best Variety of King Bed RVs

Residential Mattress In Your RV

When searching for the best travel trailers with king beds, we took a different approach. We wanted to find those models that would appeal to different audiences. Many manufacturers design king bed coaches for full-time RVers that are in the empty-nest phase of their life.

This isn’t necessarily the case. There are over 10 million RVs on the road, and each one has its own story. There are some common elements that this category of travel trailer shares. They include:

  • Lengths between 35-40 feet
  • Unloaded Vehicle Weights (UVW) between 8,000-12,000 pounds
  • Top-end interior features
  • The largest storage and holding tanks in the industry
  • Multiple slideouts
  • Many have mirrored fifth wheel versions from their manufacturers
  • Faux LED fireplace this gives off heat

If you are thinking of buying one of these towable RVs, you will want to look into having the right vehicle. You will need tow vehicles that can handle the heaviest load sizes. Full-size SUVs and one-ton trucks may be your best bet.

The Best Examples of King Bed RV Models

Forest river surveyor luxury 33krlok.

  • 36.11 feet in length
  • 7,614 pounds UVW
  • Sleeps up to 4
  • $31,995-$41,467

Forest River (floorplan here) describes this series as “affordable elegance.” They do this by carefully crafting this coach with deluxe features and still keep it around $40,000. This coach may not have a washer/dryer, but the tradeoffs more than make up for it.

This travel trailer has a focus for those that need to relax. Both the bedroom and living room have fireplaces. There is nothing better than watching the flames of a good fire to help your mind slow down.

While you are watching the fire in the living room, you can kick your legs up and lounge in the theatre seats. If the fireplace isn’t your thing, you can always find something to watch on the 50-inch LED TV. For something more natural, take a look through the panoramic windows to enjoy all nature has to offer.

In the bedroom, if you don’t want to lay down on the king-sized 72 x 80-inch bed, you can sit on the three-seater window retreat sofa. Here, you can enjoy the fire, TV, or read a good book.

When you are ready to eat, you’ll have plenty of space in your kitchen with your island countertop. If it’s a nice evening, take your meal outside to utilize your two-burner stove, small refrigerator, and grill with the propane hookup.

Dutchmen Kodiak Ultimate 3321BHSL

  • 37.11 feet in length
  • 8,754 poundsUVW
  • Sleeps up to 8
  • $32,490-$33,065

This bunkhouse model ( floorplan here ) is another reason why Kodiak uses the word “Ultimate” correctly. It’s a king bed model that also has a bunkhouse. Everything about this travel trailer is family-friendly.

Kodiak thought through this coach even down to the logistics. The weight is light enough so a full-size SUV can tow it. This way, everyone can come on the family adventure in one vehicle.

The master suite has a shorter-than-standard 70 x 80-inch king bed. The three bunks in the bunkhouse measure 28 x 74 inches. The two-seater dinette folds down to a twin size bed and the main dinette measures to a full-size.

When you have a travel trailer that can sleep up to 8 people, you need a lot of storage. That’s why the Kodiak designers added:

  • A closet-sized pantry
  • Big wardrobes
  • A pass-through outdoor storage bay
  • Many overhead cabinets throughout the coach

To feed everyone, the RV has a ten cubic foot refrigerator with a full kitchen. If it’s a nice day, you can use your outdoor kitchen . It has a small fridge, two-burner propane stove, sink, and outlets to plug in whatever else you may need.

To seat everyone, the booth dinette seats four, and there is a two-person dinette in the bunkhouse. For full-time RVers, this provides a lot of room for homeschooling books and laptops. When you are ready to relax in front of the TV, you can kick your feet up on the two-person theatre sofa.

Grand Designs Transcend 31RLK King

  • 37.9 feet in length
  • 9,276 poundsUVW
  • $39,558-$46,450

The Grand Designs Transcend 31RLK ( floorplan here ) is a perfect travel trailer for couples of any age range or economic demographic. Like many of their coaches, they find ways to cater to their customers’ wants and needs, to make their products more appealing.

The coach comes standard with a queen-size bed, but many of the RVs come with the optional 70 x 80-inch king. With the king bed in place, there is still plenty of walking room around the bed. Grand Designs builds its products to have the optimal use of space and functionality without feeling claustrophobic.

The bedroom features his and her closets on either side of the bed. The closet closest to the front of the RV is a walk-in that has a shoe rack and positions for a washer and dryer . A shared six-drawer dresser faces the bed with a tv mount above it.

The living room area features a tri-fold sofa that folds out, theatre seating for two, and a freestanding dining table with four chairs. If you are entertaining guests, you can still participate in the conversation with the kitchen island in the middle of the action. While you are preparing your meal, you can also catch all the action on the 40-inch LED TV.

Grand Designs keeps your four-legged friends in mind when they build their products. Underneath the refrigerator is a pet drawer. This is where you can keep their favorite toys or other essentials. To prevent claws from catching in heat vents, Grand Designs place them on the walls for safety.

KZ Sportsmen LE Toyhauler 291THLE

  • 33.8 feet in length
  • 6,410 pounds UVW
  • Sleeps up to 6
  • $25,995- $26,626

A common misconception about toy haulers is to sacrifice living space for the garage. KZ disagrees with that idea based on its Sportsmen LE 291THLE travel trailer. This coach has plenty of independent living space and a 72 x 80-inch king-size bed.

If you look at the whole series of Sportsmen LEs, you’ll see that they all have king beds in them. In this particular toy hauler, the pass-through bathroom acts as the barrier between the living space and an 11-foot garage. The U-shaped dinette booth is on a slideout, giving enough room to slow dance in front of the fireplace.

The garage has two rollover sofas that turn into beds and two removable tabletops. If you want to dine al fresco , a screen door lowers at the garage entrance. The ramp door can also double as a patio to enjoy the day or act as a fishing dock.

Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series

  • 40.3 feet in length
  • 9,670 pounds UVW
  • $30,000- $32,000

For those who don’t move around much, a destination trailer may be an option for you. They offer taller ceilings, residential sizing, and more of a home-type style. The tradeoffs can be perfect for your type of RV lifestyle.

Destination trailers, like the Gulf Stream Kingsport Lodge Series 40DEN ( floorplan here ), need a one-ton truck or better to pull. They don’t have holding tanks, so full hookups are a requirement. You won’t need special permits to haul them, but plan your route carefully for clearance considerations.

The great feature about the 40DEN is the designated workspace for full-timers that work from home. The den has a real desk and doors to give you the solitude you need to work. The den also doubles as a TV room or guest bunkhouse for two.

The master bedroom’s 70 x 80-inch king bed fits nicely in the room, giving some walk around space. Opposite of the bed is cabinetry that has wardrobes and drawer space. There is also a position for your LED TV to finish your evenings with your favorite shows.

The front living room/kitchen area has a tri-fold out sofa, freestanding dinette, and a residential refrigerator. There is a lot of counter space to prepare your meals without having to remove your coffee pot. The entertainment center next to the couch has a big LED TV and fireplace to enjoy.

This type of RV is not made for a lot of travel, but if you like to snowbird between two destinations regularly, this could be the right RV for you. They are bigger than conventional travel trailers, but not quite park models. This type gives you the best of both worlds.

Newmar Dutch Star 4362

  • 43.9 feet in length
  • 8.9 liter Cummins diesel 450 hp
  • 6 speed Allison transmission
  • $493,358- $493,966

Our focus is on towables, but we couldn’t walk away without presenting an example of a motorhome with king beds. Many of the lightweight technologies and upscale features seen in towables are used for drivable RVs. You’ll find that king-sized beds in motorhomes fit nicely within the floorplans .

Newmar has been providing the American Public with the best motorhomes since the 1980s. One of their oldest brand names is the Dutch Star. The 4362 model ( floorplan here ) is a great example of the coach and a king bed floorplan.

The Class A diesel features a bath and a half, two fold-out sofas, and a walk-in closet. The master bathroom has a tiled 50 by a 34-inch shower with a fold-up bench. The closet has a washer/dryer strategically placed. When your clothes are dry, you are right there to put them away.

The master suite has a 72 x 80-inch king bed with a built-in dresser on the other side. Above the dresser, on either side are wardrobes to hang your clothes, with a TV in between. Next to the bed on each side are nightstands.

The kitchen sports a residential refrigerator. The kitchen table adjusts to make it small for two or pull it out to accommodate four people. For additional counter space, there is a pull-out cabinet that doubles the size.

Behind the loveseat sofa is a televator to give you the option to enjoy your favorite program on your big LED TV. If there’s nothing on, you can always close up the TV and enjoy what nature has to offer through the large window. In the driver’s area, a magnetic docking station allows you to charge and Bluetooth connects your mobile device to the coach’s sound system.

Top 6 Travel trailers with King size beds

travel trailers for sale with king size bed

If your holiday or weekend plans entail sleeping in the very same area as your spouse, or you’re just past the time of life when you’re happy to fit into a tiny nocturnal space, it might be challenging to find solutions in certain camper trailers.

Even though most trailers with the master bedroom layout come equipped with a queen-sized bed, that just does not always correspond to a residential-style queen which can be up to 5 inches smaller. If you or your spouse are near to six feet tall (or higher), it can be a serious problem.

Particularly if you’re familiar and comfortable sleeping on king-size beds, switching to a much smaller bed during your trip might be tricky. King beds add an extra foot to the breadth of the bed and make a huge difference whenever you want to stretch out.

Of course, switching to a king is a possibility in certain camper trailer types, but that frequently provides an extra price and makes the sleeping room seem small.

RVing is one variation of the downsizing lifestyle that many would like to live every day. Many imagine that this sort of living implies selling your stuff and sleeping on a cramped full-size mattress. Whilst others find this enticing, this typically isn’t the truth.

Larger RVs feature square footage that matches some residences. There are versions of towables and campers which are big enough just to feature king beds. Living the RV lifestyle may be a pretty nice living.

King-size beds give extra area for you and your companion to obtain a good night’s rest. This mattress size allows taller folks an opportunity to spread out. If you let your four-legged offspring sleep on the bed, this should provide every one of you a more residential feel to be comfortable.

The subject of discussion is an investigation of travel trailers featuring king beds as its factory-installed feature. Since this feature has tremendous popularity, RV manufacturers have devised methods to install them in coaches. A surprising characteristic is how inexpensive they may be.

In the home mattress sector, you may go to a furnishings or mattress shop to find a regular or California King bed. Residential furniture producers have recognized these standardized standards. Ordinary kings are 72 x 80, meanwhile, the California kings are 74 × 84.

Inside the RV lifestyle, mattress dimensions are more flexible. Oftentimes architects of RVs have to cut an inch or two out of the bed size to accommodate for appropriate spacing. A problem may develop if it is not possible to move around the bed or close the slideout entirely for the customer.

If you are considering changing your RV bed with a residential mattress, take some time to consider a few things. The creators of these mattresses develop them to preserve their integrity within households. Although they may suit your RV, this may not operate optimum for you.

Many home mattresses function in combination with a matching box spring. In your RV, your mattress will rest on top of a wood platform. It’s possible that the mattress company’s claims of support and comfort aren’t accurate.

Using your mattress alone without a box spring might void the guarantee since you are not using it in the method the manufacturer suggests. The mattress might feel strange than it did at the showroom. In severe circumstances, you may develop back or joint problems when its integrity deteriorates as a result of extended use.

The bedding in your RV is also subjected to dampness and more varied temps than a house. Innersprings can tend to corrode, and memory foam diminishes with heat. You might find yourself renewing your mattress around every five years as a full-timer.

The other two slides are carpeted in the main living room. The entry slide contains a free-standing table and chairs, as well as theater seating with cupholders. Next to the theater chairs and galley is the entertainment center with a fireplace. Also in the galley are two (yes, TWO) double-door residential-style refrigerators. The dual sink is at the center island, which also has storage and counter.

travel trailers for sale with king size bed

Heartland North Trail is another travel trailer RV built for couples and small families that wish to travel in style and comfort. It features a king-size bed and an attached bathroom, so it seems like a master suite. Even if the sleeping quarters are a little cramped.

This is a slight trade-off for a vast living area. A spacious kitchen island or counter space and a three-burner range/stove combo complete the kitchen. The living room has a huge couch that may be used as a hide-a-bed for kids or a guest couple.

The bathroom is large, with plenty of elbow room in the shower. The Heartland North Trail 33RETS has a 52-gallon freshwater tank, making it ideal for couples who like to boondock or camp off-grid. The gray and black water tanks are each 42 gallons, and the fresh water tank is 52 gallons. It also reduces the need to run to the RV park’s disposal station. Invest in large-capacity portable wastewater tanks. So you can get to the disposal station in one or two journeys.

travel trailers for sale with king size bed

Entertainment center with fireplace, kitchen island with sink, enclosed bedroom with bathroom access The North Trail features three slide-out portions, which is very normal. The dining and seating area, the kitchen, and the bedroom.

travel trailers for sale with king size bed

The North Trail includes a large kitchen island with a sink. The eating area also features normal chairs that can be moved around. Having conventional chairs in the dinette is rare in RVs. Regarding seats, there are two alternatives (or the built-in fireplace). Two recliners flank the TV, while a sofa flanks it on the side. This king bed travel trailer offers an enclosed bedroom and its own bathroom. Lastly, there is a large wardrobe beside the bed, so plenty of storage room can be utilized.

What to Look for in a Travel Trailer with a King Bed

When buying a new trailer, there are various factors to consider when looking at the bed. These considerations will heavily influence your choice of RV, so take your time. Taking your time will ensure you get the best RV.

How many companions will you be having?

Before buying an RV or travel trailer, determine how many people will be sleeping in it at any given moment. This determines the size of the trailer and the number of beds required. Which beds you want in your trailer will depend on your budget.

If you are traveling with your spouse, a king-size bed may be best. It’s big enough for both of you and uses less space than two twin beds.

However, if you plan to travel largely with your pals, a king-size bed may not be necessary. Instead, acquire a camper with multiple twin beds to conserve room. The king bed is useless if you are the only one sleeping in it.

Total Travel Trailer Layout

You must also analyze the trailer’s overall design. RVs and trailers come in a wide range of designs. So a bed for one trailer may not fit in another. So, before you buy a bed, consider the trailer’s design.

A king-size bed may not fit in a smaller trailer. Other trailers may be spacious enough, but you may have to give up the night tables to have a king bed.

Underneath the King Bed Storage

When you first pack for an RV trip, you will notice that it is difficult to fit everyone into the trailer. It’s difficult to put everything into the trailer, including rv gear.

So you must learn to bring and leave. But there are things you can do to increase your storage capacity. One of them is a king bed with storage underneath.

Several mattresses in an RV take up a full area of the room, removing all storage space. The lack of storage space under the bed makes the master bedroom difficult to organize. However, a trailer with a king bed and storage underneath is available.

This will provide you with a lot more storage because the space underneath your bed is now storage. Additional storage without eating up extra trailer space. This will allow you to bring a few extra items on your trip.

A secondary bedroom

Consider if you ever need a camper with a separate bed from the remainder of the trailer.

Q. What is the smallest travel trailer with a king-size bed?

A. The Keystone Cougar 22MLS is a great option for families. With a length of under 26 feet, the Cougar is one of the shortest travel trailers on the market today. When compared to other travel trailers with king-size beds, this travel trailer has fewer facilities and only sleeps four people, which is a significant disadvantage. In such a case, this rig would suit couples or small families well.

Q. Can you fit a king-size bed in an RV?

A. Yes, it is possible. As long as you opt for a larger vehicle such as a Class A motorhome, a huge Class C motorhome, or a 5th wheel trailer, you should be fine. The majority of manufacturers of these larger recreational vehicles (RVs) provide floorplans with King-sized beds. Bear in mind that RV mattresses are available in a variety of sizes that differ from residential mattresses.
