Getting a good night’s sleep in a travel trailer isn’t always easy, as RVs aren’t exactly known for their comfy sleeping accommodations.

In fact, one of the most common complaints about travel trailers is their often uncomfortable sleeping arrangements.

Now to be fair, this often has more to do with the RV mattress than anything else, as standard RV mattresses are typically very thin and lack any kind of support.

However, another contributing factor has to do with the size of the bed, as most travel trailer floor plans offer either a full, queen, or RV queen mattress .

Which can feel a little cramped, especially if you’re used to a king-size bed at home.

You might be wondering though, how a camper that’s under 16 feet is able to fit a king-size bed.

Well, there is a bit of a catch.

Because the Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB does not offer a standard king-size bed.

In fact, the bed setup in the G15TB is anything but standard, as the trailer offers the rare twin-bed floor plan .

The east-to-west orientation of the king bed on this 30-foot floor plan does have its drawbacks though.

Because while it does allow for more room and storage in the bedroom, including a full wall of cabinets with a desk and a televator, it also limits the functionality of the bed.

As the bedroom slide has to be out to fully utilize the bed, which can be problematic if you’re overnighting in a parking lot.

Which really makes the floor plan stand out.

As front kitchen layouts are very rare on campers, due to their added hitch weight.

It’s about as close as you can get to the feeling of being in a master bedroom in a residential home.

The rear bunk section is designed to flow into the living room/kitchen area without a problem. If you have a child on each bunk and another sleeping on the convertible dinette, the kids can still have their own spaces near each other.

The dual-entry bathroom is large, spacious and acts as a separator between the master bedroom and the rest of the RV. With two sliding doors, the kids can use the bathroom at night, while mom and dad can keep their door locked on their side. This way, privacy can be maintained.

If there’s one thing that really extenuates space, it’s light. The Lance 2465 has a lot of natural light going for it, thanks to the windows. This is especially true in the J-lounge, a nice, J-shaped couch surrounded by windows, specifically a very large front window. It’s the perfect spot to relax and take a nap on a warm, lazy afternoon.

The mid-bathroom serves two functions—a place to go to the bathroom, and it separates the master bedroom from the rest of the RV. The middle bathroom not only grants privacy to the master bedroom but also adds a few extra layers of soundproofing.

The galley is perfectly integrated into the living space with a sizeable dinette, some decent counter space, and a TV that’s strategically positioned to be out of the way. You won’t have to worry about knocking yourself out when standing up from one of the cabinets.

For those that are looking for a great RV to work on the road, the Lance 2465 has an amazing desk in the master bedroom. It has both house-type 110V and USB outlets for your computer and all of your peripherals. You’ll have plenty of daylight to work from with the window against the wall.

Remember to put your office devices away if you want to lay in bed later that night and enjoy the TV on the elevator rising from the back of the desk.

What is the Difference Between a Residential King and an RV King Mattress?

The difference between a residential king and an RV version is that the RV King and RV Short King can be shorter and narrower by a small amount. RV designers did this to make sure the mattresses fit in some of the more narrow slideout boxes or other narrower situations.

There are a few fundamental differences within that shorter versus longer spectrum. Just like residential kings come in standard and California kings, RV kings have differences too. There are four RV king mattress sizes :

• RV Short King – 75″ x 72″
• RV King – 80″ x 72″
• Eastern King – 80″ x 76″
• RV California King – 84″ x 72″

Can You Put a Residential King Mattress in a Travel Trailer?

In some cases, it’s possible to place a residential king mattress in a travel trailer that uses an RV king or Queen mattress. However, you need to do a few things first. You have to measure how much additional space the new bigger mattress will take up in your RV’s master bedroom and see if it will fit between the side furniture and still leave you walking space around it.

You may have to replace the platform that the mattress will lay on to support it. Modifying the existing one may work, but if the dimensions of the plyboard isn’t wide enough, you will have to replace it.

This may also include adding stronger lift arms to hold the increased weight of the new mattress and a bigger platform. To give you an idea, here are the dimensions for all of the available residential king mattresses on the market.

• Standard King – 76″ x 80″ (A.K.A. Eastern King)
• California King – 72″ x 84″
• Texas King – 80″ x 98″
• Wyoming King – 84″ x 84″

What is the Smallest Travel Trailer with a King-Size Bed?

The smallest travel trailers with a king-size bed are the Cruiser RVs (insert a variety of models here). They use a patented sliding system known as the King Bed Slide System. The only exception to the rule is Cruiser RV’s slideouts, which don’t need the sliding system.

Is the Best Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living a King-Size Bed Model?

Well, the best travel trailer for full-time living comes with a bed that works for you. If you have a lot of dogs or a combative significant other that loves to wiggle and roll all night, a king should probably be in your RVer future.

However, queen beds are often quite enough. With no dogs and still, quiet sleeping, there’s more than enough room for a queen.

What Kind of King Mattress Can You Get for Your Travel Trailer?

The kind of mattress you get for your travel trailer depends on your personal needs. For instance, a mattress is needed to help with spine or allergy problems. There are generally four types: Latex, spring, memory foam, and air. Each has its advantages and drawbacks.

Spring mattresses are often airier, but the springs are susceptible to rust in hot and humid regions, especially if your RV goes into storage and the mattress is unused for an extended period. Memory foam is great for lower back pain but isn’t very airy. It’s also heat-sensitive, so the elasticity will wear out over time. Even with the cooling foam technology, a stored RV that heats up can affect the elasticity.

Air mattresses are great economical choices, but all it takes is a single leak to ruin the experience. Latex mattresses are probably the most comfortable, but these mattresses are the most expensive of the four. People can also be allergic to them too.

What Are the Dimensions of a King Bed in Travel Trailers?

King mattresses come in a variety of sizes and dimensions, so you will need to look around to find the perfect one for you. However, you can usually assume that king-size beds will range from 74 to 76 inches wide by 76 to 80 inches long.

California King beds are approximately 72 inches wide by 84 inches long. So for you taller folks out there a California King may be the perfect king-size bed for you but we have never seen a travel trailer with a California King bed yet. And we have toured and reviewed thousands of trailers.

It’s also important to remember that RV mattresses have different dimensions compared to residential mattresses. And many manufacturers do not list the actual bed size in their specs. Some just say King Bed but who knows what size the bed is.

RV mattresses are usually smaller than the ones you use at home. So be sure to bring your tape measure like I do when we tour RVs to make sure you know exactly what you are getting.

If you prefer to cook outdoors, there’s an outside kitchen, which includes a refrigerator and a slide-out griddle beneath a 22′ awning. The kitchen is spacious too, with an L-shape counter that provides plenty of space for meal prep.

You only get the neckbreaker deal if you’re watching TV from the sofa unless it’s just you and you can kick back with your head on one end. There are windows everywhere, especially around the dinette, so there’s plenty of natural light pouring in, even on a rainy day.

4 Things to Consider When Buying a Travel Trailer with a King-Size Bed

When you are shopping for a new trailer, there are several things you need to consider when looking at the bed it comes with.

These factors will have a serious impact on which RV you purchase, so it is important to take your time with the process. By taking your time you will ensure that you purchase the best RV possible. 

1. How Many People Will Be Sleeping in the Travel Trailer?

The most important thing to figure out before you purchase an RV or travel trailer is how many people will be sleeping in it at a time. This affects the size of the trailer you are going to purchase, and it affects how many beds you are going to need. It will also have an effect on the types of beds you want in your trailer. 

If you are planning on traveling with your spouse, then it might be a good idea to get a king-size bed. It is large enough for both of you to sleep in and is more space-efficient than two twin beds.

However, if you are planning on mostly traveling with your friends, it might not be in your best interest to purchase a king-size bed. Instead, you might be better off getting a trailer with several twin beds to save space. If you are the only one that will be sleeping in the king bed, then it is a waste of space. 

2. Overall Design of the Travel Trailer

At a glance, it almost whispers to you that it was meant to sleep a fall hunting party.

The spacious master suite sits in the front nose cap of the camper and is separated by the large bathroom.

There’s also a traditional door separating it from the rest of the travel trailer’s living space. This gives it a greater sense of privacy for a couple.

There isn’t a slideout in the front, so the storage space around the king-size bed is a little sparse, but you can make the most out of what is there.

The main living area relies on three different slide outs to provide enough space to sleep up to six more people.

This comes in the form of two convertible sofa beds, as well as three spacious bunk beds.

The bunkhouse area even converts into a large dinette section for times when everyone needs to eat at the same time. It’s a great option for families who want to share a communal meal.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Ductmen Kodiac Ultimate comes with a 50-gallon freshwater storage tank as well as a 78-gallon gray water tank and a 28-gallon black water tank.

This all translates to superior access to materials and high-quality engineering throughout their line. Including travel trailers with multiple floor plans, and high-end design cues.

The Forest River RV Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8335BSS was designed to sleep a large number of people.

This includes a living area with two convertible sofa beds, as well as a large kitchen, and a separate bathroom with a private feel to it.

Each of the dual slide outs also has its access door. This means that the master suite in the rear has its door for a truly private feel.

Since it slides out and it’s in the rear, it also has copious storage space including plenty of room for clothing as well as other essential items.

Technically, on paper, this travel trailer can sleep up to 8 people. However, I think you could argue that 5 to 6 is a more comfortable range. Especially if you are going to be traveling with teenagers.

The Forest River RV Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8335BSS has an impressive 60-gallon fresh water storage tank, as well as a very large 90-gallon gray water tank.

Even the 33-gallon black water tank that supports the toilet is large.

This all means that this travel trailer can support a family or small group of people for multiple days without having to connect to an RV park’s services or making a run to a certified dump station.

10. KZ Sportsmen LE Toyhauler 291THLE

The KZ Sportsmen LE Toyhauler 291THLE is technically a “Toy Hauler” that was designed to carry snow machines or ATVs for adventures into the bush.

It’s especially popular with hunters who want to bring their UTV with them for extended fall hunting trips.

Though it is also appealing to tradesmen and construction workers who need to work on off-the-grid job sites.

Depending on the make and model the large rear cargo bay can potentially hold two snow machines or two ATVs.

When you get to where you are going the rear hatch door opens, and you back out your equipment.

The interior space is then converted into a spacious living quarters. There’s even a front slide-out section for the dinette.

The front nose cap area of this toy hauler trailer holds a king-size bed. Though there isn’t a defining door or partition to make it feel like a true master suite.

However, the bathroom near the rear does separate the aft sleeping area, which does provide for more nighttime privacy.

With the dual convertible sofa beds, you can comfortably sleep up to 6 people, though KZ states 8 on paper.

This particular toy hauler has a 38-gallon freshwater storage tank, as well as a 32-gallon gray water tank and a very large 32-gallon black water tank.

This means you could support the bathroom and kitchen off the grid for up to a week or longer.

Depending on whether or not you also haul additional freshwater supplies with you.

11. Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series

This includes a pair of convertible sofa beds in the main living quarters as well as a bunk bed arrangement and a king-size bed in the rear master suite .

All this living space and sleeping area are thanks in large part to three slide-out sections.

When you get to your destination the sidewalls expand and you can deploy the interior as you see fit.

In the king-size master suite, the Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series has a surprising amount of floor space to walk around.

There are also cabinets and other innovative storage features that make it feel like you truly do have all the comforts of home at your fingertips.

One possible downside to the Gulf Stream Kingsport 40DEN Lodge Series is the overall weight and the towing dynamics.

You truly need a three-quarter or even a one-ton pickup truck to tow this monster.

It is meant to be something you take from Point A to Point B and then you stay for a while at your destination.

It’s probably not the right travel trailer for you if you’re an RV traveler who likes to explore multiple locations on a trip.

It’s meant to appeal more to snowbirds or tradesmen who need a home away from home while working on a remote job site.

Things To consider When Choosing RVs with King Size Beds

This buyers guide will help identify key characteristics to consider when shopping for the best travel trailer with a king-size bed.

This includes factoring in how you are most likely to use it, as well as other important things like the number of people that will sleep in your home-away-from-home.

Important Luxury Travel Trailer Characteristics

RVs are designed to let you take the comforts of home with you when you are on the road.

This leads many couples and traveling families to relatively lightweight travel trailers with a king-size bed.

Since most king size mattresses measure in around 76-inches by 80-inches a slide-out can provide you with the walk-around and storage space that makes the difference between a “Master Bedroom” and a “Master Suite.”

By design, travel trailers tend to be lighter than their fifth wheel and motorhome big brothers.

They are very rare when it comes to being in a travel trailer’s “Standard Package.”

This is due mostly to the overall size of the mattress and the robust hardware needed to both hold the king size murphy bed in place as well as lower it down.

However, there are some manufacturers and dealers who do offer an aftermarket conversion kit as part of an upgrade package. Unfortunately, most RV murphy beds are limited to queen-size mattresses.

Do I Need A Travel Trailer With A Slide Out?

Slide-out sections are very nice for RV travelers who want to fit a king-size bed in their travel trailer.

A single pillow top mattress might only measure in at a little over 12-inches thick.

A plush king size mattress with dual pillow tops could be as much as 16 or even 18 inches thick.

The advantage of the dual pillow top is also that you can periodically flip it and use the other side, which extends the lifespan and overall comfort.

Especially after a long day of hiking, biking, or swimming, nothing feels better than coming home to your comfy king bed.

There are tons of travel trailers out there with large, king sized beds so you don’t have to sacrifice your sleeping comfort just because you’re in a trailer.

Whether you want to sleep 3 in a single bed, or you just want to sleep by yourself starfish-style, there are plenty of travel trailers with king beds to choose from…

Why a Travel Trailer with a King Bed?

• More sleeping room: Of course, this is the obvious one. If you have a king bed at home and don’t want to downsize, you don’t have to! King beds mean you can fit one more person in your RV since three people can sleep relatively comfortably in a king bed.
• Bedroom suites: Many travel trailers with king beds have enclosed, private bedrooms. This means if you’re traveling with family, you’ll be able to escape to your bedroom suite that’s usually separated from the living area and other sleeping areas. 
• High-end trailers: A travel trailer with king bed is definitely considered a luxury amenity. This means that trailers with king beds generally have “fancier” amenities overall. If you pick a travel trailer with a king bed you’ll likely have other amenities that are just as luxurious as a king bed.

Are Camping Trailer King Beds the Same as Regular King Beds?

A residential king bed is 76 inches wide, and 80 inches long. They’re the same length as a queen bed but they’re over a foot wider.

In travel trailers with king beds, it’s very rare to find a bed that’s 76 inches wide. Typical travel trailers will have an “RV king” which will be between 70 and 74 inches wide. 

King size beds in travel trailers are not as wide as residential beds simply because there’s only so much space to work with inside a travel trailer.

Heartland North Trail 25RBP

Key features:

The Heartland North Trail is a mid-sized travel trailer with residential-style features. Seriously… the inside of the trailer really looks like you’re inside a luxury condo.

The king sized bed is gel-infused and it’s located at the front of the trailer. The bedroom area has overhead cabinetry storage surrounding the bed and led lighting. 

On either side, you’ll get a small shelf that acts as a nightstand, underneath two nicely sized windows. There’s a sliding privacy door that separates it from the kitchen area.

In the kitchen and dining area are a four-person dinette, and a large lounge. At the back of the trailer, you get a large bathroom with TWO sinks and a large walk-in shower.

Altogether, the Heartland North Trail sleeps four people.

Venture RV SportTrek Touring STT333VMI

The floorplan of the Venture RV SportTrek Touring has some great privacy that gives the bedroom a true master bedroom feeling. 

The 70” x 80” king-size bed is located all the way at the back of the trailer, and there’s an electric fireplace right in the bedroom!!! Plus, you get washer/dryer prep right in your bedroom closet.

Separating the bedroom from the living area is a large bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The kitchen has tons of floor space with an island in the middle and a residential-style dining table.

The tri-fold sofa sits at the very front of the trailer and adds extra sleeping room.

The Venture RV SportTrek Touring also has an outdoor “campfire kitchen” with a griddle, sink, and refrigerator all underneath one of two awnings.

At just 25 feet, the Cruiser RV Embrace is on the smaller end of travel trailers with king-size beds. 

Cruiser RV markets the Embrace EL210 as a “couples coach”, but it can sleep up to six people with the tri-fold sofa.

The Embrace has a couple of pretty unique features, like a full underbelly storage system, as well as exterior speakers.

The most unique feature of the Cruiser RV travel trailers is the patent-pending sliding king-size bed. 

The system allows you to slide the bed over to one side. This creates 12 inches of extra floor space in the bedroom whenever you need it.  The bedroom, though, isn’t much of a “master bedroom” since it’s basically in the same room as the kitchen and living room area. 

So, this Cruiser RV travel trailer will definitely work better for just two people who may occasionally bring friends or family along.

The Winnebago Voyage V3235RL is a larger travel trailer with a king bed and residential-style amenities. The two slide outs in the living area make the space feel very large. The kitchen area comes with an island and a large sink surrounded by counter space. 

Plus, there’s a four-person dining area, reclining theater seats, and a tri-fold sofa. Sweet!

The master bedroom offers tons of privacy as it’s separated by a door from the rest of the trailer. Winnebago offers an upgrade to a king-size bed in all of the Voyage floor plans for a few hundred bucks.

The bedroom has a wardrobe and nightstand on either side of the 72” x 80” king size bed. You’ve also got washer/dryer prep in the closet of the bedroom. The bathroom is between the living area and the bedroom and has a really nice large walk-in shower.

Jayco White Hawk 30FLS

The Jayco White Hawk is a very popular travel trailer with a king bed. The bedroom itself really feels like you could be in a master bedroom at your house. 

The 72” x 80” king size bed is tucked under overhead storage cabinets and faces a wardrobe with a TV. On one side of the bathroom, you’ll also get two large wardrobes and a bench in between them.

(The master bedroom also has its own private entrance!)

In the middle of the trailer is the large bathroom area, which has two sinks and lots of counter space. 

The living area in the Jayco White Hawk has a u-shaped dinette and a tri fold sofa, along with a large double basin sink.

The entertainment center in the living area faces the tri-fold sofa and has an electric fireplace underneath.

Dutchmen Kodiak Ultimate 2921FKDS

• Hinged cabinets cover entryway
• Electric fireplace in master bedroom
• Tons of counter space
• Booth dinette
• Electric reclining seats
• Heated underbelly

The Dutchmen Kodiak has one of my favorite floorplans I’ve seen in a travel trailer. The king bedroom is completely private, separated from the living area by the bathroom with doors on either side.

In the bedroom, you get three large windows, an electric fireplace, and an entertainment center. Plus overhead storage cabinetry, LED lighting, and two wardrobes.

The living area is completely closed off by a hinged door, so you can’t even tell you’re in an RV when you’re hanging out in the kitchen.

The pullout offers lots of extra floor space and natural lighting from the windows above the entertainment chairs and booth dinette. The kitchen in this trailer has maybe the most countertop space I’ve seen in any travel trailer. 

So, this kitchen is great if you love to cook when you’re on the road and find you need to use a lot of counter space for prepping.

Cruiser RV Shadow Cruiser 215RBS

• Sliding king size bed
• Work from home desk space
• Just 22 feet in length
• Curtain for master bedroom privacy

Cruiser RV’s Shadow Cruiser is the smallest travel trailer with a king bed I’ve found. It’s just 22 feet long!

The Shadow Cruiser is another couple’s coach from Cruiser RV. It’s made for two but can sleep up to six. The king size bed is enclosed by a curtain and has Cruiser RV’s sliding system for extra elbow room on either side of the bed.

The living area has a u-shaped dinette and an L-shaped kitchen with lots of kitchen space.

At the back is a space that’s designed for you to use if you work from home–half the back wall is a desk with some storage underneath. Next to the work area is a mid-sized bathroom with lots of counter space.

If you don’t have the towing capacity to lug around a huge 40 foot trailer, the dainty 22 foot Shadow Cruiser is a great option for you.

It’s especially great if you plan to travel by yourself, with a partner, and you really need a good workspace with you. Plus, there’s lots of extra sleeping room in case you want to bring friends and family with you.

Palomino Puma 31FKRK

The Palomino Puma is a large trailer with a large living space and a private master bedroom. The living space is a large room with a tri-fold sofa, a dinette, and reclining seats that face the entertainment center.

The kitchen area has a three-burner stove and an overhead microwave. You’ll also get a large kitchen sink with a high-rise faucet and tons of counter space.

The king-size bed is located in one of two pull-outs in the trailer, which makes the room feel very spacious. 

There isn’t any room on either side of the king bed, but you do get overhead cabinet space and a large wardrobe. Plus, there’s a closet with washer/dryer prep in the corner of the bedroom.

The bathroom in the Puma is pretty standard. It separates the king bedroom from the living area and has a shower, sink, toilet, and small linen closet.

But the biggest plus? The whole trailer has heated floors so you can have nice warm feet on cold mornings. YES!

Forest River’s Vibe 28RB has tons of fancy amenities and built-in features that might catch your eye if you’re looking for a trailer that feels like home.

The bedroom is totally private and has a 72” x 80” king size bed with storage underneath. There are nightstands with USB charging ports on either side of the bed, and overhead storage above.

Plus, panoramic windows wrap around the living area. And the whole thing comes with solar in the standard package.

The Cougar Half-Ton is a mid-sized trailer from Keystone RV with a really gorgeous interior. The travel trailer has hardwood cabinetry throughout, and heated flooring. 

In the kitchen, you’ll get a large double basin stainless steel sink with a high-rise faucet. Plus a booth dinette with a TV above it, and a large pantry. 

The bathroom is pretty standard, with a toilet, sink, shower, and sliding door. 

The king bedroom is separated from the rest of the space by a curtain. You’ll get underbed storage in the 70” x 80” king bed, and nightstands on either side.

The nightstands are set up with USB charging ports. The bedroom comes fitted with a “platinum series” king mattress which Keystone claims is very comfortable.

This travel trailer also comes with some pretty sweet extras, like a shoe cubby right when you walk in the door, and solar panels in the base package.

The Highland Ridge Open Range is a larger travel trailer with a king suite and tons of living space.

The king bedroom is pretty roomy for a travel trailer bedroom. It has lots of storage space, plus nightstands on both sides of the bed.

The bedroom also has a laundry chute, which is a super unique feature I haven’t seen in any other travel trailer. You’ll also get a wardrobe with washer/dryer prep inside.

The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, a sink, and a toilet, and is enclosed by a sliding door. The living area has lots of floor space because of the two opposing pullouts.

On one side are two theater seats and a dinette, and on the other are all your kitchen appliances, an entertainment center, and an electric fireplace. There’s also a kitchen island in the center of the space. In the very back, you’ll get a tri fold sofa for extra sleeping space.

The Lance 2465 is a great mid-range travel trailer perfect for couples.

The king size bed is located in a pull out, which makes the bedroom feel super spacious. The large windows in the bathroom add a lot of natural light to the space. 

There’s a huge entertainment center in the bedroom, with a 40” TV, and wardrobes on both sides. The second pull-out is located at the dinette, and has wrap-around windows.

The underbelly of the trailer is totally enclosed and heated, so this trailer is perfect for winter camping. 

The standard package also comes with a roof rack for hauling kayaks, skis, or whatever outdoor equipment you have!

What Types of King Mattresses Can You Get for Your Trailer?

Although many RV manufacturers claim that their mattresses are ultra-comfortable, this isn’t always the case. RV mattresses are notoriously thin and uncomfortable, so many people opt to purchase a mattress separately. 

If you do want to pick your own mattress, there are a few different options out there. I’ll explain them and why I’d recommend (or not recommend) any of the following options.

Air Mattress: Not Recommended

Air mattresses are one option for a king mattress in travel trailers. However, I really do not recommend them because they can be really uncomfortable. Plus, you have to inflate them pretty often. 

If you’re going to invest in a king sized bed for your travel trailer, invest in a quality mattress as well. An air mattress doesn’t really cut it unless it’s just temporary use.

Residential Memory Foam Mattress: Comfortable But Might Not Fit

Memory foam mattresses like the ones you buy online and are shipped to your house in a box are super comfortable. (If you have one, you know).

These are a super comfortable option for an RV king mattress, but you’ll have to make sure they will fit in the given space. 

Since some RV king beds can be as small as 70 inches wide, the extra 6 inches on a residential mattress just might not fit in the layout of the RV.

Mattress Toppers: Great to Boost Comfort

Memory foam mattress toppers are a great option if you find your mattress is a tiny bit uncomfortable. A mattress topper will not fix all your problems, but it’ll just boost the comfort of a thin mattress a bit.

These are inexpensive and can be cut to fit the size of your mattress. You can also order a custom-sized topper from Mattress Insider .

However, they might slide around a bit and aren’t a permanent solution to a highly uncomfortable mattress.

There aren’t currently any travel trailer manufacturers that offer king-size murphy beds. This would be an upgrade you’d have to take on yourself.

Can I use a regular king mattress in my travel trailer?

Yes you can, though it might not be a perfect fit.

Typical king bed dimensions in a travel trailer are between 70 and 74 inches wide whereas a residential king mattress is 76 inches wide.

What is the smallest travel trailer with a king bed?

The Cruiser RV Shadow Cruiser might be the smallest travel trailer out there with a king bed at just 22 feet long.

Can I put a king bed in a queen sized space in my travel trailer?

If your travel trailer has a queen size bed and you want a king, it is possible to put a king bed in the travel trailer.

You’ll need to make sure, most importantly, that there’s enough room on either side of the queen bed for a king bed to fit in the space.

Then, you may have to add some extra supports for the overhang of the mattress.

A king bed in a travel trailer may seem like a big luxury, but it’s not really such a huge reach.

You don’t necessarily have to shell out a ton of cash or purchase a huge rig to find a travel trailer with a nice comfy king bed.

Fortunately, there are plenty of options out there, from large trailers with king beds in master suites and tons of extra sleeping room, to studio-style couple’s trailers.

Just a FYI for would-be buyers of new travel trailers (and any other type), make sure the PDI is complete and ALL warranty repairs conducted before you leave the lot. Especially if you are not from that area and plan on taking it home in another state.

The dealers in your home state may not conduct warranty work on your trailer since you didn’t buy it from them and can’t be bothered with you. Service work may not be available as well if you didn’t buy it from them. They prioritize service techs for people that bought from them. Lastly, they may perform warranty repairs, but make you pay for the warranty work upfront and YOU then have to make your case to the Manufacturer for reimbursement.

Just my experience in my area. Your experience will vary. Find out if you can get warranty work for your trailer in your area IF you bought it elsewhere.
