Ratatat’s E.VAX Announces New Album, Shares Video for New Song: Watch

E.VAX —aka Ratatat ’s Evan Mast—has announced a new solo album. The self-titled LP arrives August 27 via Because Music . Today, Mast has shared “Karst,” the second single from E.VAX . Watch the trippy visual for the song below; plus, find the video for the album opener “ Rabindra .”

Mast recorded E.VAX at his home and in a friend’s art gallery in Montana. “One of my favorite moments over the past few years was riding on a scooter with my brother through a landscape of karst mountains in southern China,” Mast said of his new song and video. “I wanted this track to sound the way that felt. I started recording it in Brooklyn during the most intense part of lockdown last spring, and finished it a few months later in a barn at a friend’s place in Montana.”

Since his days as one half of Ratatat, Mast has produced for the likes of Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and JAY-Z. Of his new album, he said: “I used to be way more precious. A lot of this stuff on the record is about trying to skip the brain processes that can get in the way of making something that really feels sincere.”

ABC, CBS and AXS TV will televise Vax Live at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with streaming on YouTube TV and ABC News Live streaming it at that time. iHeartMedia radio stations also will carry at the show at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Fox will replay the show at 11 p.m. ET/PT, and AXS TV plans multiple replays through Monday.

Global Citizen Announces “VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World”

International advocacy organization Global Citizen today announced VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World, a global broadcast and streaming special that aims to inspire vaccine confidence worldwide and help get the COVID-19 vaccines to everyone, everywhere. During the special, Global Citizen, will call on philanthropists and corporations to donate enough “dollars-for-doses” to vaccinate more than 27 million heroic health workers, that are serving on the global frontlines, in the world’s poorest countries everyday. The special will also encourage global development advocates and changemakers to call on world leaders to prioritize the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines for everyone, everywhere.  

VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World will be pre-taped at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Airing and live streaming on Saturday, May 8, 2021 on ABC, ABC News Live, CBS, YouTube, iHeartMedia broadcast radio stations and the iHeartRadio App, VAX LIVE will start at 8:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CT. The concert will also air on FOX at 11:00 PM ET/PT. The special, hosted by multi-platinum recording artist, actress and producer Selena Gomez, will include a night of musical performances by Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J Balvin and H.E.R.

Music has helped people around the world get through the turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic and generate hope for the future. 

In that spirit, Global Citizen is announcing VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World , a global broadcast and streaming special that will call on world leaders, philanthropists, and corporations to ensure global vaccine equity , as well as encourage people to get their vaccinations as soon as they’re able.

Hosted by multi-platinum recording artist, actress, and producer Selena Gomez, the event will feature a star-studded lineup of artists and changemakers who will both convey urgent public health messages and perform some of the world’s most compelling music.

A global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic depends on global herd immunity, which means everyone must have equal access to vaccines, tests, and treatments around the world. If wealthy countries continue to hoard vaccines, the pandemic will evolve for years to come as new COVID-19 strains emerge. 

As part of the broadcast, Global Citizen, artists, partners, and more will ask countries to support the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator; urge philanthropists and corporations to donate enough “dollars-for-doses” for health workers on the front lines in the world’s poorest countries; push for financial commitments to regional responders supporting health, education, hunger, equity, and climate efforts; and call on pharmaceutical companies to commit to fair and equitable pricing for COVID-19 vaccines.

VAX LIVE will air on Saturday, May 8, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC, CBS, YouTube, and iHeart broadcast radio stations and the iHeartRadio App, and at 11 p.m. ET/10 p.m. CT on FOX. YouTube will stream an extended version of the concert on Global Citizen’s channel , which will include additional performances and appearances.

Here's a rundown of some of the amazing artists who will be performing as part of VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World . 

Jennifer Lopez

Singer and actor Jennifer Lopez will return to the virtual Global Citizen stage after having performed at the One World: Together At Home broadcast special in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past year, Lopez has been an advocate for the COVID-19 vaccine and equitable health care.

Eddie Vedder

Pearl Jam frontman and Global Citizen Advocate Eddie Vedder has performed at numerous Global Citizen festivals and events, and he participated in the One World: Together At Home special that raised a total of $127.9 million for COVID-19 recovery efforts. Vedder is a longtime champion for women’s rights and ending poverty worldwide.  

J Balvin 

The reggaeton star previously performed as part of the Global Goal: Unite for Our Future broadcast special in June 2020, which built upon the momentum of One World: Together At Home and mobilized a total of 6.9 billion pledged for COVID-19 relief. J Balvin recovered from a difficult bout of COVID-19 last year, during which he called on all of his fans to follow best practices for stopping the spread of the virus. 

Foo Fighters

The award-winning rock group Foo Fighters will return to the Global Citizen stage to perform some of their greatest hits during the broadcast and build solidarity for the global recovery effort. In 2020, lead singer Dave Grohl brought together a group of artists to sing a cover of “Times Like These” to raise money for COVID-19 relief.  

H.E.R. 

H.E.R. performed at the Global Citizen Festival in 2019 and participated in One World: Together At Home . The R&B singer-songwriter has used her platform over the years to call for women’s rights and health care equity. 

As part of Global Citizen’s  Recovery Plan for the World  campaign,  VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World  will bring together artists, entertainers, world leaders, and more to ensure equitable vaccine distribution around the world, tackle COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, and celebrate a hopeful future.

"People [are] getting false information. It's scaring people and it's circulating on all these different sites, and I see these heads of companies not doing anything about it," Selena, 28, said during an appearance on Extra .

What Is Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World ?

The benefit concert, which was actually pre-recorded a week in advance at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, has already raised over $53 million to secure 10+ million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, per reports .

The Saturday night telecast will push more corporate donors and others to raise even more funds for more doses. It will feature appearances from international leaders to help pledge upwards of $22 billion to "get two billion COVID-19 vaccine doses, tests, and treatments to the world's poorest countries by the end of 2021," People reports.

Who will be appearing and performing at Vax Live ?

Viewers will be treated to more than a few musical performances throughout the broadcast, with Eddie Vedder , J Balvin , the Foo Fighters and H.E.R. all taking the stage.

The main draw of the program may be multiple performances from Jennifer Lopez, who was photographed performing on stage with her mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez , for a touching rendition of Neil Diamond 's "Sweet Caroline." The 20,000+ vaccinated healthcare workers in attendance reportedly sang along to Guadalupe's adapted version for J.Lo, "Sweet Jennifer."

While the event is hosted by Selena, it's unclear if she's performing at this point. That said, late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman are slated to appear as special guest speakers, as are film icons Sean Penn and Ben Affleck . Chrissy Teigen is also participating in the event and shared behind-the-scenes tidbits on her Instagram profile earlier in the week.

For the first time since the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip last month , Prince Harry will appear at the concert to honor healthcare workers publicly. The concert's organizers also have teased an appearance from Meghan Markle .

The program will also feature speeches from world leaders — including President Joe Biden , Vice President Kamala Harris , Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada , President Emmanuel Macron of France, and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic — around their plans to accelerate vaccinations across the globe.

The pre-recorded concert will air on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT | 7 p.m. CT. It's being broadcasted by ABC and all of its local cable affiliates across the nation. You can also stream the event using ABC's free streaming app on Fire TV , Apple TV , Roku , Android TV and more.

Evaxion receives fda fast-track designation for personalized cancer immunotherapy.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Jan. 19, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Evaxion Biotech A/S (NASDAQ: EVAX) (“Evaxion” or the “Company”), a clinical-stage biotechnology company specializing in the development of AI-driven immunotherapies, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) has granted fast track designation for the Company’s personalized cancer therapy, EVX-01, in combination with KEYTRUDA ® .

In December 2022, Evaxion received FDA approval to proceed with its Phase 2b clinical trial, where EVX-01 is given in combination with KEYTRUDA ® to patients with metastatic melanoma. On January 17, 2023, Evaxion furthermore received fast track designation for the vaccine candidate. The fast track is designed to expedite the FDA’s review of innovative, new drugs that demonstrate the potential to address an unmet medical need.

EVX-01 is a peptide-based cancer immunotherapy and is Evaxion’s most advanced clinical asset. Under the program, a unique drug is generated for each patient based on gene analysis of their tumors and on matching with their immune system. This process is made possible by the Company’s proprietary AI platform, PIONEER.

The ongoing Phase 2b study is conducted at clinical sites across the United States, Europe, and Australia. It is carried out in collaboration with Merck, supplying its PD-1 inhibitor KEYTRUDA ® .  The trial was initiated in Australia with the enrollment of the first patient in September 2022. The COVID-19 crisis can only be defeated together, and what better way to unite the world than through the power of song? 

International advocacy organization Global Citizen presents VAX LIVE: A Concert to Reunite the World,  co-chaired by  Prince Harry and Meghan Markle , brought out Hollywood's biggest names to emphasize the need for COVID-19 vaccine distribution. The special concert was recorded on Sunday, May 2 at the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and will be televised on Saturday, May 8.

The star-studded  VAX LIVE was hosted by Selena Gomez  and highlighted performances by Jennifer Lopez , Eddie Vedder , Foo Fighters , J Balvin and H.E.R.  The concert was taped in front of a live audience consisting of vaccinated frontline healthcare and essential workers. President Joe Biden   and First Lady   Jill Biden also made a special virtual appearance as part of Global Citizen's partnership with the White House's "We Can Do This" vaccine initiative. 

The  VAX LIVE  campaign raises funds for doses, asks pharmaceutical companies to offer medicine at not-for-profit prices and urges governments to share excess COVID-19 vaccines with nations in need. The internationally-focused organization works with the World Health Organization (WHO), European Commission and leaders around the globe. 

Prince Harry already  made headlines  with his empowering speech calling on citizens to be vaccinated. "The virus does not respect borders, and access to the vaccine cannot be determined by geography," the Duke of Sussex explained. "What we do in this moment will stand in history, and tonight, we stand in solidarity with the millions of families across India who are battling a devastating second wave."

Vedder lamented on his monumental return to the stage. "This is a feeling we haven't had for quite some time," he told the crowd before launching into Pearl Jam 's "I Am A Patriot" song. "There's a microphone, there's a crowd. It feels good."

The 30th anniversary of the original animated film version of “ The Lion King ” will be celebrated at the Hollywood Bowl next month with a live-to-film concert/screening that will include cast members from both the movie and theatrical versions — and beyond — including Jeremy Irons , Nathan Lane , Billy Eichner, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver and Bradley GIbson.

The shows will take place at the Bowl May 24-25 and be produced by Disney Concerts, Fulwell 73 Productions, AMP Worldwide and Live Nation-Hewitt Silva.

The general on-sale begins Friday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster, with an American Express cardholder presale starting Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Coming to the stage from the 1994 version will be Irons (who originated the sinister role of Scar), Lane (who played the comical Timon), Ernie Sabella (the first Pumbaa) and Jason Weaver (who played Young Simba). Gibson will represent the Broadway incarnation (he played Simba on stage), and Eichner will bring memories of the 2019 remake (he voiced Timon on screen).

Hudson has not previously been associated with the various incarnations of “The Lion King,.” But even though any voice cast will be mostly male, the opening number calls for a strong female voice, so it’s not difficult to begin the guessing game of where she might fit in.

It’s especially easy to make some educated guesses about what she’ll do knowing that Hudson sang “The Circle of Life” when she came to fame competing on “American Idol” during season 3.

The event precedes the release set for this coming Dec. 20 of a prequel from Walt Disney Studios, “Mufasa: The Lion King,” which like the 2019 version is being described as “live-action” (which, in this case, means a particularly photorealistic brand of animation — not actual singing lions). Eichner is reprising his role as Timon from the five-year-old remake in the forthcoming prequel; Barry Jenkins is directing. The trailer was described as going over well last week at CinemaCon.

Disney and Fulwell 73 previously teamed for “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium,” a livestreamed concert on Disney+ that went on to win an Emmy, and “Disney’s Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl,” a 2022 concert at the venue that was also turned into a Disney+ special. It would seem likely similar plans might be in the offing for May’s “Lion King” anniversary concerts, although no filming intentions have been announced.

Masters 2024: Jon Rahm tells Spanish newspaper he noticed 'hostile attitudes' from former tour acquaintances at Augusta

J on Rahm did not have a very fun time at this past week's Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. And it wasn't just because he barely made the cut and struggled his way to a T-45 finish.

Yes, Rahm failed to post a singe round under par, and at times looked miserable doing it, but there was another reason the Masters was unsettling for the defending champion. In an interview with Spanish newspaper El Mundo, the 29-year-old said he wasn't exactly feeling the love from some of his former PGA Tour acquaintances whom he had not seen since making the move to LIV.

"Yes, I have noticed hostile attitudes," Rahm said. "But I expected it, my friends have continued to be my friends, but some with whom I had a very cordial relationship have not even looked at my face."

Rahm gave no indication of who he was referring to. Though one man we can definitely rule out is Scottie Scheffler, who Rahm was chuckling with during the green jacket ceremony following Scheffler's victory. No ill will there, it would appear.

Rahm says he was much more surprised by who it was that iced him as opposed to the icing in general.

"If someone changes their opinion [of me] it's your issue, not mine," he said. "I knew what was going to happen but I didn't know who."

The writer of the El Mundo article, Hugo Costa, alluded to the fact that Rahm did have a "good relationship" with both Max Homa and Patrick Cantlay prior to leaving for LIV and that those two "could have had gestures of contempt" toward the Spaniard at the Masters. Rahm did not call out anyone by name.

Rahm won't play again for two more weeks, when LIV returns to Australia for LIV Golf Adelaide at The Grange Golf Club. As for when we'll see him again against the PGA Tour's best players, that won't be for another month, when the PGA Championship returns to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., May 16-19.
