I used eSky to book a RyanAir ticket

I used eSky to book a RyanAir ticket. Not only did they charge about £40 above RyanAir's own prices for the exact same journey (I checked within a few minutes), I received an email from RyanAir saying there was no commercial relationship between them and eSky, so the booking was blocked subject to my confirmation. This made me uneasy and I decided to cancel. But even though RyanAir have a 24-hr grace period, eSky refuse to give me a refund. AVOID.

Esky shouldn’t not even get one star

Esky shouldn’t not even get one star. My wife booked a ticket last night and realized this morning that the flight she booked for our daughter in June was during her finals. She called to change the flight (less than 24hrs) and they wanted to charge us and $431. She tried to cancel, they said we couldn’t cancel and get the airline credit. I’ve booked airlines for years and never had such a worse experience in my life. Be careful who you book with because Esky is a scam artist. Their websites states it is $33 fee to cancel or change your flight and that is a lie! Do not use them to book travel!!!!

We are meant to be flying to Murcia…

We are meant to be flying to Murcia tomorrow with RyanAir and booked flights via esky. We have been unable to check in online as the verification process on RyanAir does not work and is not recognising the booking ref given by esky! Feel very stressed as do not know if we will be boarding a flight tomorrow or not. Have tried to contact esky and RyanAir and can't get hold of anyone to sort. This is not how you should start a well needed holiday!! I would not recommend booking through esky.

This was kind of a last minute type of travel situation and eSky Travel had an incredible price that I took a chance on. This was the first I knew of this company. AVOIS THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY - Double fees for petrol taxes and airport fees!!!

This company exists because of misled people. The final payment sum is not visible in the payment summary, but becomes known after payment has been approved! In this case, the airport fee and petrol taxes are invoiced from the user. They are of course already paid by the airliner, but eSky invoices them in addition from the user. The final paid sum only becomes visible AFTER the accident has happened and transaction made. Hence, the user pays more than advertised and summarized on the screen. AVOID IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES!!! Update 28.3.2024 14:48 EST: eSky refused to refund fully. A breakdown invoice not provided, which would details the cost areas and would be easier to depict the issue. Margaret replying like they would care or handle this case, but trust me - they do not. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE TEAM!

Excellent experience. I had been searching for months for flights for our family of 4. It was to/from our cruise vacation so not a ton of flexibility with dates. A bit of research before you booked would have kept you away from them

A bit of research today would have found you that thread.

No one is hearing from them, they seem to be totally incompetent. Please read that other thread for advice

As Northern_Traveler mentioned, there have been quite a few threads about eSky having less than stellar service, even before COVID19. They have a presence here that sometimes responds and is very apologetic,, but doesn't really seem to resolve issues. I wouldn't rely on being able to get hold of Esky, so it makes to see what you can find out yourself without going anywhere near them.

Low-cost airlines

Most low-cost airlines sell non-refundable tickets for cheap flights. Except for a few clearly-defined situations, which in most cases are limited to the unpleasant circumstances of the passenger’s death or the death of a person closely related to the passenger, low-cost airlines don’t reimburse people for tickets sold.

In the case of the death of a passenger or a person related in the first line, it is necessary to provide the ticketing agent with a death certificate before reimbursement can be considered.

In the case of the death of a passenger when that passenger made payment for the ticket, a potential refund becomes an inheritance matter and can be paid out only after a court judgement or a settlement is reached.

If a passenger requests a ticket refund before the flight, reimbursement of taxes and airport fees is included, as those taxes and fees are not paid by the airline. However, in most cases low-cost airlines do not refund those amounts, as they usually charge an administrative fee for processing the request for reimbursement of taxes and fees which equals the value of the taxes and fees.

Can you return your ticket due to illness?

Low-cost airlines provide for returns of flight tickets only in specific situations, but if you declare inability to travel due to sickness, your case should be considered individually. Even if the Terms and Conditions do not provide for any reimbursement in a given situation, it is worth checking if the carrier might try to accommodate the passenger’s needs.

When requesting a reimbursement, you have to provide specific documentation confirming your inability to travel. When this data is sent to the eSky office our employees then deal with contacting the airline.

Scheduled flights

The Terms and Conditions of tickets purchased for regular scheduled flights strictly define situations in which it is possible to resign from your seat and what reimbursement is owed in such cases.

For most – but not all – airlines, even if the Terms and Conditions do not provide for reimbursement of fare for the flight, you can still try to recover taxes and fees. This is usually only possible when you do not use the entire flight. When using only part of your connections, reimbursement of the unused part of taxes and airport fees can be difficult, if not impossible.

• For seamless return of airport fees and taxes, your inability to board the flight should be reported before its scheduled departure.
• Apart from reimbursement of airport fees and taxes, some airlines also provide for return of fare for carriage – either full or partial.
• Inability to board a flight can be reported through the contact form.
• Return of a ticket on the day of its issuance is possible in some airlines. This operation requires contact with our consultants. From the next day on after the ticket has been issued, tickets for regular scheduled flights can be returned only in cases provided for in the fare’s Terms and Conditions.
• Some fares on specific routes provide for a full refund in case of denial of a visa. To learn if a ticket you are interested in offers such a reimbursement, use the contact form.

Please keep in mind that each request for reimbursement due to inability to board a flight is considered on an individual basis, and airlines can refuse to refund your fare.
