Kicking off Mercury Studios 4K initiative, the first release on April 5, 2024 will be Mötley Crüe: The End – Live In Los Angeles on 4K UHD for the first time.

Mötley Crüe: The End – Live In Los Angeles fully captures the energy and emotion of the evening on December 31, 2015 when legendary rock icons Mötley Crüecompleted their 35-year touring career as a band with a spectacular final concert, “The End” at Staples Center in their hometown of Los Angeles, CA, just 10 miles from the Sunset Strip where the band’s infamous and decadent career first launched. Previously released on DVD & Blu-ray and now available for the first time in 4k Ultra HD, the band thrilled the sold-out arena with performances of such mega-hits as “Kickstart My Heart,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Home Sweet Home” and “Dr. Feelgood.” While not everyone was able to see their Final Show live, Crüe fans can now relive all the action for the first time in 4K. In addition to the epic concert footage, audiences will be treated to behind-the-scenes footage of the band’s FINAL TOUR.

Known for their over-the-top production, Mötley Crüe did not disappoint for their “The End” show on New Year’s Eve 2015: from massive, cutting-edge pyro, including Nikki Sixx’s bass guitar spitting fire over 30 ft. into the air, and Tommy Lee’s “Crüecifly” drum roller coaster, amongst many other spectacular elements. Lead singer Vince Neil delivered an emotional, “thank you” speech to the audience, while the band supplied next-level, high-octane fueled energy, ringing in the New Year on stage with thousands of balloons raining down on the crowd. The grand finale of the show included a blow-out performance of their hit single, “Kickstart My Heart” with Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil floating above the audience in far-reaching “cherry-pickers.” Leaving fans in tears, the show concluded with an emotional encore rendition of “Home Sweet Home” from the second stage riser in the center of the audience. Additional 4K titles to be released later in 2024 include Black Sabbath The End, Eric Clapton Slowhand At 70 Live At The Royal Albert Hall and Steven Wilson Home Invasion In Concert At The Royal Albert Hall.

Motley Crue Will Tour Again, Eyeing Third Las Vegas Residency

This past Friday night (Sept. 9), Mötley Crüe finished the 2022 portion of their expansive “ Stadium Tour ” with a show at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. Beyond drummer Tommy Lee cheekily announcing that he’s joined OnlyFans, vocalist Vince Neil  newly declared that in addition to touring internationally with Def Leppard next year, the quartet plan to resume traveling across the U.S. in 2024.

In a recent (Sept. 8) chat with the Las Vegas Review-Journal , Neil told interviewer John Katsilometes that the band has been reinvigorated by their re-emergence. “I am kind of sad, because it’s been so much fun. We just played SoFi Stadium in L.A. and it was great,” he added.

Actually, he continued, Mötley Crüe have been having such a great time on stage this year – and are so excited about their 2023 shows – that they’re planning to play the States when they come back: “We’re far from being over. When we come back in ‘24, we’re going to do it all over again.”

While he didn’t allude to any particular dates or number of shows, he did say that their return will almost certainly include a third Las Vegas Residency (to follow the ones they did at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in 2012 and 2013).

“We have definitely talked about doing it, and everybody loves to do the residencies, so I say, ‘Yeah, we’re gonna do it.’ We just have to look at sometime in ‘24, to be back in Vegas. But we will be back,” he specified.

Last night (Sept. 10), the group took to Facebook to show their appreciation for everyone involved in the “Stadium Tour”:

Don’t get your hopes up about Mötley Crüe going back into the studio, however, as Neil clarified that they’re “strictly a touring band” now.

Of course, the promise of more Crüe concerts is reason enough to celebrate.

Mötley Crüe tell us about ‘Dogs Of War’ and being rockstars in the age of social media

Nikki Sixx and new guitarist John 5 tell NME about the inspiration behind their first new music in five years, and what the band have in store for 2024

Mötley Crüe, 2023

Mötley Crüe have shared ‘Dogs Of War’ – their first new single since 2019 and first official music with new guitarist John 5. Check it out below, along with our interview with  Nikki Sixx and John 5.

  • READ MORE:   The Dirt film review – forget passing the Bechdel test, this wouldn’t even pass a literacy test

The glam metal veterans first shared news of new music earlier this week, when they confirmed that Friday (April 26) would see them drop ‘Dogs Of War’. Not only does the single mark their first new music since 2019, it also sees their first official release with John 5 ( Marilyn Manson , Rob Zombie ), after he joined the touring line-up in 2022 and eventually went on to replace Mick Mars as the band’s lead guitarist last year .

Kicking off with a brash, uptempo riff, the song ultimately delivers exactly what you’d expect from the rock icons, retaining their old-school glam roots with frontman Vince Neil belting out a chorus of “ Don’t let those bastards get you down” .

The track was recorded remotely last year with the band’s longtime collaborator Bob Rock, and first teased towards the end of 2023 when Crüe played a secret set at The Underworld in Camden, going by the alias Dögs Of War .

“There was no plan to actually record ‘Dogs Of War’,” bassist and founding member Nikki Sixx told NME . “We were in the studio doing demos, and it always happens where we have a vision of a song but then other riffs come out from there. So while we were working on a song, this riff came out.

“We had a ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ [ The Ramones ] cover that we were talking about doing, but essentially we were just getting together to be creative. Then ‘Dogs Of War’ came out, as well as a couple of other ideas,” he added. “At the end of that day I went home and was watching A Handmaid’s Tale on Netflix, and here’s a saying in the show, ‘Don’t let the bastard grind you down’. So I wrote it down, then I wrote a lot of the lyrics pretty much from there.”

Recommended

John 5 continued, recalling what it was like to be writing new music with the members and Bob Rock for the first time. “It was a really cool thing that happened, especially because Nikki and Tommy [Lee , drummer] and Vince had recorded with Bob Rock for so long. But when I went in there, we all got in one room and that was so unorthodox to me because I haven’t recorded that way in so long.

“We all got in one room and just knocked it out, and that’s how everything was tracked. I thought that was so special because nowadays you don’t really see that kind of very organic way of recording.”

After releasing their last studio album ‘Saints Of Los Angeles’ in 2008, the band told NME about the changes that Mötley Crüe have gone through since then – including John 5 joining as a full-time member, and their recently signed deal with Nashville’s Big Machine Records.

However, they reassured fans that while it may seem like the start of a new chapter, the influence from the guitarist is by no means a new development that will see them deviate from their roots.

Nikki Sixx and John 5 of Motley Crue perform at Marvel Stadium.

“We’ve already written so many songs together because me and Nikki have known each other for decades now. There have been times where we talk like six or seven times a day,” John 5 explained, with Sixx going on to insist that he was “the one that gave him the grey hair” before he even joined the line-up.

“We were working together even back with that Meatloaf song, ‘The Monster is Loose’,”, Sixx recalled, referring to the 2006 track that the two co-wrote for ‘Bat Out of Hell III’.

“We were writing while the Dirt movie was being finished,” he added, going on to share how the band ended up writing multiple new songs around the time of the film.

“If I remember correctly, there were four songs called ‘The Dirt’ because we were trying to zero in on one song, but we ended up releasing all four of them. [Working with John 5] has always been a nice creative process, we’re always having a good time.”

Sixx also went on to share his thoughts on the huge success of the biopic in 2019, as well as the hit 2022 series Pam & Tommy , which saw Mötley Crüe exposed to a new generation of fans – over four decades after they first formed.

“For us, the only constant in our career has been that we constantly change and that comes with hills and valleys,” he explained. “We’ve ridden it out over 43 years and sometimes we’re not cool, sometimes we’re the coolest band, sometimes we can’t even get a phone call back.

“We’re just living in our own little bubble and doing what we want to do. Obviously it feels great when people really love what you’re doing, but I don’t necessarily think we’ve ever thought that we should do something to be liked or for the public reception. We do what we do, we’re passionate about it and we hope that people like it. Also, if they don’t, we get that, we understand it. It’s just part of our creative process.”

Speaking of being introduced to a new generation of fans, the bassist went on to recall what it was like for the band – who are famed for their controversial, hedonistic image – to be now releasing music in today’s landscape, where a different level of responsibility is placed on those in the public eye.

Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe performs live for the "The World Tour" at Sheffield Bramall Lane on May 22, 2023 in Sheffield, England.

“I don’t really feel that I have any connection to trying to sell myself as something that people want, I just use social media the same way that I’ve used interviews since 1981. I speak from my heart and talk about what I’m actually doing in my life,” Sixx said, elaborating on how his larger-than-life front has been replaced with a more family-oriented image in recent years.

“I have almost a five-year-old daughter and she’s a big part of me and my wife’s life so I share a lot about my family life and about my creative process now. I think that’s the best way to be as an artist, to be transparent.”

As for whether or not fans can expect to see more new music on the way, Sixx confirmed to NME that ‘Dogs Of War’ is one of three new tracks that the band have recorded, although there are no plans for a bigger release any time soon.

“We don’t know when they [the other two tracks] will come out, but we’re really proud of all of them so they’ll probably all come out over this year,” he said. “As far as next year is involved, we’re just not that far down the road in terms of recording songs and deciding what we’re going to do.”

While it looks like the follow-up to ‘Saints Of Los Angeles’ is still a while off, Crüe are set to embark on a run of live shows this summer, including festival appearances at Summerfest, Welcome To Rockville, Festival d’été de Québec and more. Visit here for remaining tickets.

Meanwhile, Mötley Crüe co-founder and former lead guitarist Mick Mars recently shared news of his debut solo album ‘The Other Side Of Mars’ last October . The release marked his first new music since he departed from the glam rock line-up in October 2022, following his struggle with Ankylosing Spondylitis (A.S.).

"We're the bastards": listen to Mötley Crüe's spidery comeback single Dogs Of War

Exclusive: Vince Neil tells us all about Mötley Crüe’s first single since 2015

Motley Crue studio portrait

Having announced their new deal with Nashville’s Big Machine Records earlier this week, Mötley Crüe have shared their first single in nine years, Dogs Of War . Kicking off with a spidery riff, the uptempo rocker spirals through an eerie verse, before a bulldozer chorus finds frontman Vince Neil on defiant form, singing ‘I will stand my ground/I will not back down ’, and urging ‘ Don’t let those bastards get you down ’.

“I think it’s classic Crüe, if you go back and listen to the first record [1981’s Too Fast For Love ],” Neil tells Louder. “To me, it goes back to our roots. I think the fans are going to dig it. It’s a rock‘n’roll tune for partying, screamin’ and yellin’ along. That’s what Mötley Crüe is about anyway. It doesn’t seem like any time has passed. We’re still just a good rock ‘n’ roll band.”

So who does the song title refer to?

“We’re the Dogs Of War ,” nods Neil. “We’re the bastards. We’re in battle with everybody, all the time.”

Recorded remotely last year with producer Bob Rock – and heard as a snippet on social media when Crüe played London's Camden Underworld last year billed as Dögs Of War – the track is the first single from the Los Angeles veterans since 2015’s apparent swansong, All Bad Things . While Neil recalls that he “just wanted my voice to sound rough and tough”, the track is notable as the first studio showcase for John 5, who replaced long-standing guitarist Mick Mars in 2022 and announces his presence with a scalded virtuoso shred solo.

“Wow,” enthuses Neil, clearly impressed by the band’s new blood. “John is such a great guitar player. People love him. The band loves him. He basically made me a better singer. I get to focus on just my singing. He knew all the songs before we even hired him. He can play anything. He’s an exciting, creative guitar player and he’ll definitely be involved in the new music. It'll be really neat to listen to his ideas.”

On the subject of new music, Neil hints that a three-track EP is in the works for release later this year, while the Crüe’s first full studio album since 2008’s Saints Of Los Angeles will remain on the drawing board until the band clear their live diary.

“What stage are we at?” muses the singer. “We’re at no stage right now. We gotta start writing new songs, but we leave in two weeks and you can’t write an album on tour. We’ll get back in the studio at some point – maybe next year.”

While further new material remains under wraps, all signs suggests Crüe will keep flying the flag. “I don’t like the state of music these days,” says Neil. “You get Taylor Swift and Beyoncé now, and that’s it. I’m a classic rock kind of guy. I like the old stuff. We want to show a new generation of fans what rock ‘n’ roll is all about.”

AEROSMITH And MÖTLEY CRÜE To Team Up For 'Route Of All Evil Tour'

AEROSMITH — "America's greatest rock' n' roll band" — will return to the road September 14 with MÖTLEY CRÜE — "America's most notorious rock band" — to spawn what is the ultimate must-see rock event of 2006: a massive North American tour of predominantly outdoor amphitheatres. Bigger, louder, faster, and harder than what rock fans have experienced before, the tour gets underway in Holmdel, NJ and lasts through November 24 in West Palm Beach, FL. With each band featuring all their original members, this marks the first time that rock's bad boys have embarked on a tour together.

The first few dates of the Live Nation -produced tour — Camden, NJ, Boston, Washington, Tinley Park, IL, East Troy, WI and Detroit — go on sale June 24. Two more shows (Holmdel, NJ and Jones Beach, NY) go up June 26. Other on-sale information is TBA.

For the tour, AEROSMITH — Steven Tyler , Joe Perry , Brad Whitford , Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer — will thrust themselves into the middle of the audience, turning the seats along the 70-foot-long ramp into one big front row experience that will enable fans to get up close and personal with rock's quintessential live act. AEROSMITH were most recently on the road with their hugely successful and wildly acclaimed "Rockin' The Joint" tour, which packed arenas from October '05 through February '06 in what critics called "an exultant return," "a wet, wild and totally sweat-filled night" and "a testosterone-charged set of their patented blues-soaked rock."

Coming off one of the most successful tours of 2005, MÖTLEY CRÜE is bringing a whole new bag of tricks out this year, with massive production and pyro, determined to out-do themselves in the decadent MÖTLEY fashion. Major surprises are in store from the world's most infamous rock band. "As comebacks go, this one is monstrous," Rolling Stone said of their wildly successful Red, White & Crue tour, and this year proves to be even bigger.

Mötley Crüe promises there’s more where its brand new song “Dogs of War” came from.

The track and video, both out Friday (April 26), are the first releases under a new deal with Nashville’s Big Machine Records. It’s also the Crüe’s first new song since the Machine Gun Kelly collab “The Dirt (Est. 1981)” from the soundtrack for the 2019 Netflix biopic of the same name and the band’s first recording with new member John5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie), who replaced original guitarist Mick Mars last year.

John5 confirms that “there’s gonna be more music to come out, that’s for sure. [Bassist] Nikki (Sixx) calls me all the time and says, ‘Hey dude, check this out’ and it sounds like it could be a demo from, like, the Too Fast For Love album or the Shout at the Devil album. He just has that inside him; he’s created this music and it sounds just like that era because that’s who the guy is.”

Neil describes the fiery-tempoed “Dogs of War” as “like old school meets new school. It’s got that old school vibe about it, but it’s new music. Nikki came up with it and he sent me the music and I thought it was really cool. So I started singing it and we got in the studio and it turned into the song I think the fans are really gonna like it.” The song was produced by frequent Crüe collaborator Bob Rock , which Neil says was a source of comfort for the band.

“He’s great,” the singer explains. “He’s  a lot of fun. He’s smart. He’s creative. He knows what the wants. He knows what to get from each guy to make them be their best. That’s what a good producer does, takes what you have and makes it better – and that’s what (Rock ) does to Mötley Crüe. That’s what we love about him. We know he’s not gonna change and we didn’t want any change. We wanted to do it just the way we always recorded with him.”

In making the new label deal announcement, Big Machine Chairman and CEO Scott Borchetta — the driving force behind the 2014 Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute to Mötley Crüe compilation — says that, “Growing up in Southern California, I was in Hollywood when these new sheriffs showed up and took over the city. It was loud. It was powerful. It was game changing. (The band has) reignited the flame with ferocious new Crüe Music.”

Neil, who resides in Nashville, calls Borchetta “a good friend … and a good friend of the band’s. They’re just a smart company that knows how to market songs and how to get them on the radio and do all the stuff you gotta do. They’re perfect for us.”

BMG remains the band’s home for catalog releases, however. This year it’s already released a Dolby Atmos remaster of The Dirt Soundtrack to celebrate its fifth anniversary as well as a Record Store Day re-release of the rarities compilation Supersonic and Demonic Relics on vinyl for the first time. Since this year is the 25th anniversary of the band’s legendary Dr. Feelgood album, fans have been speculating about some sort of release to commemorate that later in the year.

Back in 2014, of course, Mötley Crüe famously signed a “binding” contract for its The Final Tour farewell trek stipulating that support act Alice Cooper could cut their heads off if they broke it. Then, however, came The Dirt, which despite overwhelmingly negative reviews was a rating success, while the soundtrack hit No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and Top 5 on the Top Rock Albums and Soundtrack Albums charts. “The Dirt (Est. 1981)” single was also a Top 10 Mainstream Rock hit.

“John brings a lot,” Neil says. “He’s an amazing, creative guitar player. He hears stuff us normal people don’t hear. He brings a lot to the song and a lot to the band, and we’re just so happy to have him.” The feeling is mutual according to John5, who collaborated with Sixx on Sixx A.M. projects and co-wrote the three new songs on The Dirt Soundtrack .

“I love Motley and I’ve known Mick, Tommy (Lee) and Nikki for so long, it’s just like playing with your friends,” the guitarist says. “Their music is something I care about. I care about the history and I care about the future of this band, so I want to do things with the utmost respect and make sure everything is done right and execute it to the ability it deserves.”

What Easter Eggs We Found in Motley Crue’s ‘Dogs of War’ Video

Motley Crue just revealed their new video for “ Dogs of War ” and for longtime fans of the band, there’s plenty of fun hidden in plain sight easter eggs as well as a few moments that have us asking a few questions.

First, have a look at the new Motley Crue video for “Dogs of War” for yourself and see what you can pick up.

Motley Crue “Dogs of War” Easter Eggs

Eagle-eyed fans will spot Motley Crue Shout at the Devil -era logo pentagrams scattered throughout the video. One of the first comes :05 into the video with a pentagram right in the middle of the airplane dashboard. There’s also one barely visible on a cup just almost out of the screen. See how many pentagrams you find in the clip.

Nikki Sixx Signature

Well, lookie there. Nikki Sixx ‘s penmanship can be spotted just above the sex doll in the cockpit. Also clearly visible is a “I Heart Porn” sticker and an X’d out sad face. No fun there, eh?

Snakes on a Plane

Clearly visible on one of the Motley Crue plans is a distinctive looking snake. Anyone getting Dr. Feelgood vibes?

READ MORE: The Lyrics to Motley Crue’s New Song “Dogs of War”

Dating back to the Crue’s early days, there were plenty of devilish references. It’s notable that the plane carries a MC-666 number. And look, another pentagram.

No Fun on This Flight

The smiley face stickers on the plane might take some fans back to the “No Fun” tour era.

“Girls Girls Girls”

One of the dog-faced characters seems to be having a rough time outside the establishment with the neon sign denoting “Girls Girls Girls.”

The “Swine” Stripper

There are multiple Generation Swine -era nods, with this stripper with the pig snout nose being among the first of them.

The ‘Holiday’ Hotel

This may not be a place you want to stay, but the “Holiday” does signify a nod to the Hooligan’s Holiday era.

Tommy Lee’s Meditation

There’s plenty to play into with the band members’ personas, and here we get Tommy Lee ‘s fascination with meditation, as he levitates amidst bonsai trees. How very zen. Maybe you can join Tommy in working on your trees like he once did.

John 5 Electrocuted Alive

What’s going on with John 5 there in the corner? Looks like he’s being electrocuted, which some fans have speculated is a reference to Motley’s song “Live Wire.”

Posters and Masks

In the home of one Motley Brew guzzling TV viewer, we also see his room decorated with the Dr. Feelgood poster while the Theatre of Pain masks are left dangling next to it.

Mo’ Swine, Mo’ Problems

Yeah, the Generation Swine nods are back in effect, as a number of pig-faced protestors dish out their catchiest slogans shouting out their disapproval.

Well, hello pigs. The cops mowing down the Motley members are in a car with the license plate “Swine 69.”

A Crue and Their Crown

Vince Neil raises the Motley Crue crown to the sky, a reference to their recent Stadium Tour.

That Spider’s Got Legs

That fast moving spider has the stockinged legs of the dancers from the “Girls Girls Girls” video, but some are also feeling this is a reference to the song “Black Widow.”

Strait to the Point

Motley Crue’s straitjackets appear to be a reference to the Dr. Feelgood era.

We’ve Got Questions

About these polaroids.

It appears apparent that the polaroids are of the members of Motley Crue in the airplane cockpit, but they don’t really ever show up in focus. Has anyone gleened anything from the photos?

Who’s Terry?

Yes, the joke is there. The lawyer is a pterodactyl, aka Terry, and he’s identified as a “threat identified” early in the video. But is there a deeper meaning behind “Lawyer up, call Terry.” Is this a nod to an actual person, or just a joking play on the pterodactyl name?

Drumming Up Business

There’s no doubt that’s a cool image Tommy Lee has on his drum. But is the toothy image signifying something more. Lee certainly liked it, which is probably why its also the cover of the “Dogs of War” vinyl picture disc .

What else did you find in the video? Let us know in the comments.
