Beyoncé ‘Mrs Carter Show’ Australian Tour 2013 Dates Leaked

By James Arnold-Garvey

Beyoncé looks set to bring her Mrs Carter Show World Tour to Australia late 2013 after tour dates were leaked earlier today. The leaked dates, expected to be announced tomorrow, show Beyoncé making stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in October and November 2013. UPDATE: The Australian tour has officially been announced!

There are three tell-tale tip-offs that this leak is legit. One, we’ve known for months that Queen Bey was planning on coming Down Under after the first leg of her world tour, yet when the second round of tour dates were revealed recently there was a noticeable Australia-shaped gap in her schedule during October and November between her South American and North American shows.

Two, global touring powerhouse Live Nation , who are promoting the Mrs Carter Show worldwide, have been teasing a big announcement with the date 07/07/13 on their Australian Facebook page for the past couple of days.

Three, Ticketek just this evening removed the waiting list for tickets on the Australian leg of the Mrs Carter tour from their site.

There you have it – along with the tour dates, there are three big golden arrows all pointing to the second coming of Beysus, a force not seen on our shores since a whirlwind tour in September 2009. The full list of dates is below, and those with a keen eye will see that there’s plenty of room for extra shows in between the ones already leaked.

Beyoncé has been absolutely killing it this year (all in preparation for her Australian tour, obviously) with Mrs Carter shows taking in just about everywhere in Europe – including a massive sold-out run at the O2 in London – as well as pretty much ruining American football forever with a Superbowl halftime show that will be nigh-on impossible to top.

Check out the full dates below, as well as the Mrs Carter World Tour teaser vid and Beyoncé’s Superbowl performance, which is sure to get you in the mood. Australia is waiting, O golden skinned goddess – take us into your honeyed arms and show us who run the world.

UPDATE: More new dates have been announced!

The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour is the fourth tour by Beyoncé. Following her Super Bowl XLVII halftime show, tour dates were released in Europe and North America. The tour began on April 15, 2013 in Belgrade, Serbia, and concluded on March 27, 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Background [ ]

During a press conference for Super Bowl XLVII on January 31, 2013, Beyoncé revealed that she would make an announcement after her performance at the halftime show and added that "fans should just stay tuned to see". Beyoncé announced the tour and its name after her performance at the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show on February 3. The tour's title refers to her marriage with Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter. However, the official poster of the tour with the name written on it was leaked on the ticket's website Live Nation prior to the official announcement. [2] It shows Beyoncé wearing a Victorian golden royal top and a crown, referencing Queen Elizabeth I. Rosie Swash of The Guardian described it as a "visual stamp of authority". Along with the tour's name, initial dates in Europe and North America were announced, and later more were added in Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. Following the announcement of the tour's title, Beyoncé was criticized by several critics and feminists alike for entitling it after her husband's name as she has been regarded as a feminist. Questions were raised about how Beyoncé agreed to be known as a bride of another celebrity person. During an interview with Vogue , Beyoncé described herself as a "modern-day feminist" and further spoke about her decision to reference her husband's name: "I feel like Mrs. Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I've ever been..... It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, 'OK, this is what you were born to do'. The purpose of my body became completely different." After the second European leg was announced on December 11, 2013, a new poster was revealed and used for the promotion of all the newly added shows. [8]

Broadcasts and recordings [ ]

Professional footage from the tour was officially released on April 22, 2013 through Beyoncé's YouTube channel and website. It showed the opening moments of the show and performances of "Run the World (Girls)", "Love on Top" and "Halo" during the first concerts. A series of eight behind-the-scenes footage of the rehearsals and preparations for the tour were released on Beyoncé's website on May 21, 2013.During "The Sound of Change Live" charity concert held at Twickenham Stadium in London on June 1, 2013, various clips and performances were broadcast worldwide to over 150 countries which were believed to have reached over 1 billion people.

A thirty second trailer for the tour was released on June 24, 2013 containing live vocals of Beyoncé's "Get Me Bodied" and a dubstep audio mix. It showed footage from the tour's commercial and multiple snippets of live performances from the show. On August 29, 2013, Beyoncé posted a video titled "Bey Good" on her official website showing scenes of her with fans backstage and during the concerts. [100]  During Beyoncé's performance at the Made in America Festival, the two opening songs—"Run the World (Girls)" and "End of Time"—were streamed live via YouTube. Beyoncé's performance at Rock in Rio was broadcast in its entirety, and also streamed via YouTube. [102]  On August 22, 2013, Beyoncé released a black-and-white promotional retro video for the tour dates in Brazil. It was set to Frank Sinatra's version of the song "The Girl from Ipanema". The video featured the singer in a bikini swimming in the water, writing Brazil in the sand and relaxing on a hammock as well as various shots of the city.

In March 2014, a new promotional video was released midway through the second European leg and first leg of the 2014 tour. This was the first venture of the tour to include new performances and songs from Beyoncé's recently released self-titled fifth studio album. The video showed professional clips from some new performances and also featured a variety of backstage activity from the revamped tour. A video titled "Goodbye to The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour" was uploaded by the singer on her official YouTube channel on March 27, 2014 showing portions of live performances from the final leg of the tour, behind the scenes moments and visits to cities as "XO" was played in the background. In June 2014 it was announced that HBO will air  Beyonce: X10 , a 10-episode series of four-minute segments of concert performances debuting weekly before new episodes of  True Blood  starting June 29. The performances were captured in various cities during the tour. They are included on a bonus disc in the platinum edition release of Beyoncé's 2013 self-titled album, which was released on November 24, 2014.

Live Nation also announced today that Beyonce’s North American Tour begins on June 28 in Los Angeles, California. The tour will travel to over twenty cities throughout North America this summer, including Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center, Atlanta, Georgia, at the Gwinnett Center, Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center, Toronto, Ontario at Air Canada Centre, and Boston, Massachusetts at TD Garden.

On June 28, Beyonce returns to Los Angeles, California as part of the BET Experience At L.A. Live at the Staples Center. She is set to headline the first of the three-night STAPLES Concert series. And continuing her successful run at international music festivals, following a headlining night at Glastonbury in 2011, she is confirmed to headline at the world’s largest music festival, Rock in Rio, on its first night, September 13 at the “City of Rock” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rock in Rio has set records for its massive crowds and its powerful media drive.

The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour promises to be the entertainer’s most ambitious undertaking to date. It is expected to be bigger in scope than any of her previous shows. Slated to run for almost one year, the second wave of the tour is planned for Latin America, Australia and Asia.

Following her historic performance tonight at the Pepsi SuperBowl XLVII Halftime Show, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Beyonce officially returns to a full-time touring schedule, her first since the I AM…WORLD TOUR in 2009, with a new, bolder state-of-the-art production.

Beyonce’s last tour, the critically acclaimed and incredibly successful, I AM…WORLD TOUR was ranked #1 on Billboard’s Hot Tour chart. The show thrilled more than 1.1 million fans at more than one hundred shows in 32 countries and six continents across the globe.

Beyonce is one of the most widely recognized and highly respected women in pop culture. A solo recording artist, actress, philanthropist and businesswoman, she has released four #1 solo albums and has sold over 75 million albums worldwide. Her work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including 16 Grammy Awards. Billboard named her the Top Female Artist and Top Radio Songs Artist of the 2000s decade. The Recording Industry Association of America also recognized Beyonce as the Top Certified Artist of the 2000s.

The critics have consistently praised her energetic stage shows likening her to the best entertainers of the past with her own brand of sass and class that makes her the artist of the future. “Beyonce has a breathtaking need to entertain,” said Ben Ratliff of the New York Times and Chantal Eustace of the Vancouver Sun summed it up writing, ‘Beyonce twisted all the theatrics into her musical performance flawlessly, demonstrating her many talents as an artist.”

On February 16, HBO will premiere Life Is But A Dream , an intimate feature-length documentary film directed and produced by Beyonce for Parkwood Entertainment. The film provides unprecedented access into the on and off-stage world of the entertainer.

The North American tour is promoted by Live Nation Global Touring and is produced by Parkwood Entertainment.
