Travel | travel troubleshooter: expedia said it would refund my tickets four years ago. help.

I waited a few months, but the refund never showed up on my credit card. I contacted Expedia in early 2022, and they told me to contact Air Transat for my refund. I did, and an Air Transat representative said the airline had already sent my refund to Expedia.

I’ve contacted both Expedia and Air Transat on numerous occasions since then, and I’ve also asked my credit card company for help. It says that there’s no record of a refund from Expedia or Air Transat.I would love to get my refund. Can you help me?

ANSWER: Expedia should have refunded your money four years ago. I believe this is a new record for the longest airline refund case. (Congratulations, Expedia!)

Air Transat is a relatively small charter airline, so that might explain the initial delay. But at some point, Expedia should have taken ownership of this problem and helped you get a refund. Instead, it looks as if you bounced between Expedia, Air Transat and your credit card company for years. Literally, years. You must be exhausted.

What happened? It looks as if Air Transat refunded part of your purchase with a check, which appears to only cover taxes and fees. This left an outstanding balance of about $1,002. Air Transat claims it sent the money to Expedia, but Expedia said it never received the money.

Here’s the thing: When you buy an airline ticket through an online travel agency, it is responsible for the refund. It doesn’t matter if the airline refunds it or not. So, if Expedia says that you’re entitled to a refund, and it promises to process a refund in a few weeks, it’s on Expedia.

You were way too patient with your airline and online agency. You should have received the promised refund promptly, and if you didn’t, you should have filed a credit card dispute to recover your funds.

I list the names, numbers and email addresses of the Expedia executives on my consumer advocacy site, Elliott.org . A brief but firm email to one of them might have motivated Expedia to find your missing money.

I contacted Expedia on your behalf. In response, the company apologized and admitted that there was “an error with the refund.””The refund has been processed,” a representative said. Expedia also added $200 worth of points to your loyalty account as an apology for the delay.

A Federal Emergency Management Agency administrator said Tuesday that “our heart aches for the loss of life” in tornadoes that left four dead and about 100 injured in Oklahoma.

FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell joined Gov. Kevin Stitt and Sen. James Lankford in surveying the damage in Marietta that was caused by the Saturday night tornado that struck the town about 100 miles (161 kilometers) south of Oklahoma City, killing one person.

“We're going to work through the day to get a better understanding of what the impacts are across the state,” Criswell said. “I'll give an update to the president on what I've seen and make sure we get the right federal resources” to each area.

The National Weather Service rated the tornado as an EF4 with wind speeds of up to 170 mph (274 kph). It was one of at least 25 tornadoes the weather service confirmed having struck Oklahoma and north Texas Saturday night, 22 of them in Oklahoma.

Criswell will also survey damage in Sulphur, which was hit by an EF3 tornado with winds of up to 165 mph (266 kph) that left one dead. Another EF3 tornado with winds of up to 145 mph (233 kph) struck Holdenville, killing two people.

Stitt said the initial focus of recovery efforts is on people who were uninsured and helping businesses rebuild.

The governor noted that the state Legislature is currently meeting. “We're still in session ... so if there is some kind of gap that we need to do on funding, we can absolutely get that across the finish line,” Stitt said.

The tornadoes, part of an outbreak of severe weather across the middle of the U.S. , followed dozens of tornadoes that raked Iowa and Nebraska on Friday, killing one person.

We just stayed at a home with Global Resorts, we were vacationing for Spring break. The home was perfect! Everything we needed was there. We were surprised by the pool and clubhouse, the pool was the perfect size for amount of people that shared it and the club house had so many activities.

Stayed at 8976 Amelia Trail ( Solara) in Kissimmee recently and was very unhappy to find mold in the downstairs bedroom and closet along with the air vents coming from the ceiling! The smell in the bedroom made it completely unusable and since the air conditioner blew through the ceiling vent we were constantly breathing this in! We paid extra for the pool to be heated and that gets shut off at 8 p.m each night and not turned back on until 8 a.m therfore the pool gets cold. Do not recommend and would not use again! To high priced to have to deal with the issues that come with the house!

Fantastic stay in Punta Gorda, FL. The house had absolutely everything we needed and more. Plenty of towels, all the kitchen supplies and even pantry items. My suggestion is to arrive and see what's available before you go to the store. Most likely will not need items like salt, pepper, spices. The home was immaculate and beds/furniture were all very comfortable. We had technical and plumbing issues during our stay and Global was very fast to respond and resolve. It did not affect our vacation at all. Do not hesitate to book with Global if they have a house you are interested in.

Disclaimer: I am only on day 3 of my stay. I will update if anything changes. I wanted to highlight the great experience I have had with this resort because it needs to be said looking at these reviews. Booking: I called and booked at the beginning of this whole covid mess at a time when people were canceling. I cancelled a trip to Mexico and decided to go somewhere that I could drive. I called and spoke to Cheryl. She was so very polite. She expressed how appreciative she was of me making the booking. They altered their policy for covid and allowed late cancellations with full refunds because it was so new at that time. This was a great move by the company to provide top notch customer service. If I am ever looking to stay in Orlando again or am asked I will definitely refer this company. The place: The resort is beautiful (Windsor Hills) and not far from Disney. The house we stayed in is just as beautiful. See pictures. It was easy to check in also. We called on our second day to have heat turned on in the pool and have them look at sliding glass door. It was extremely hard to open and close. Someone was at the house within 30 minutes. They needed to replace the door which couldn't be done until the next day but it only took like 30 minutes. Not a bother at all it works perfectly. Everyone that I have talked to have been so nice and I wanted to recognize that. Again if I am ever looking to stay in Orlando these are who I would use. I should mention we stayed in a 3/3 two level townhouse with a splash pool.

We stayed at Windsor Hills this past week and the home we were in was fantastic. It was spacious, clean, and had our private pool. It was also walking distance to the main pool along with other resort amenities. The area was very safe and the house itself had lots of locks and gates to help with water safety. The area was also close to Disney, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Having two small children, we loved the stay and will definitely look at using Global Vacation Rentals in the future. The only reason that I did not give it a 5 out of 5 was we paid extra for pool heat, and I am not sure that the pool was actually heated; however, we really did not need it as the weather was so hot anyways.

I've stayed at Global Resorts (Story Lake) year after year because it's my favorite. The homes I've stayed in were very nice, clean and close to everything I needed. The customer service is very good and if there is any minor problem they always send someone quickly to resolve it. If I have any down side it's that they don't rent houses past 6 bedrooms. I really look forward to my stays here each year!

My family and I have been renting with Global Resort Home for many years and we love it. Very affordable, beautifully decorated homes for small to large groups most in gated communities with security, so you feel safe. There are many resorts to choose from in the Disney area and most of them have great amenities to keep everyone entertained. We love getting a private pool/jacuzzi. The only downside is you have to pay extra to heat the hot tub and BBQ grill, which would be great if it was included in all the homes. The upside is if you are a returning guest they might give you complimentary pool heat upon request. Check them out! You won't be disappointed. My favorite resort is Champion Gate

Our stay was very nice. We had a spacious home in South Cove on one of the canals. The home was just as it was in the pictures. Clean and comfortable. We were close to Boca Grande which has a beautiful beachs with tons of shells to take home. During our stay the beaches had sea turtle egg nests protected which was very cool for our teenager to experience. Our home was in the middle of all the areas to experience. A little bit of a drive to see everything but worth it. Really great places to eat at in the area. The only complaint was I wish the house had a grill. Great vacation.

I am a property owner and used Global Resort Homes for just under one year. They are dishonest and can not be trusted. We discontinued our contract with them on November 1 2022. It is now December 19 and they owe us 2500K and will not release the funds to us. They require owners to keep a 2000K reserve fund, they gave us 1000K of the reserve fund after we ended the contract, we are now asking them to give the rest of the funds to us to no avail. They also owe us rental income for a guest check out on November 1st and will not give it to us. I have more to say about how horrible this company is as a property manager, but I will end it here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AS A PROPERTY MANAGER.
