Peter Gabriel’s five-decade-long career includes nine studio albums, film scores for the likes of Martin Scorsese, six Grammy Awards and two separate inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a solo artist and founder of ’70s prog-rock pioneers Genesis). As a solo artist, Gabriel has sold an estimated 16 million albums worldwide, with his fifth studio album — 1986’s So — going five-times platinum in the U.S. and producing the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Sledgehammer.” Gabriel’s catalog of hits also includes ballads like “In Your Eyes,” which was featured in an iconic scene from the 1989 teen rom-com, Say Anything . Gabriel has performed in front of countless sold-out crowds on world tours that often include large-scale performances and conceptual set design. In May 2023, Gabriel embarked on i/o – The Tour, his first world tour in seven years, which features songs from his forthcoming 10th studio album, i/o — his first full-length album of new songs in over two decades.

Outstanding.
We weren't highly familiar with Peter's music. We knew a few of his popular songs. We were gifted with tickets. Let me tell you - we had one of the Greatest Evenings. What an Outstanding Musician! What made it even better was the fact that he is so involved in efforts to save our eco system, rain forests, Planet. I was in Awe of the entire evening!
Unmatched artistry
You just won’t see a major artist produce such an artful, creative and engrossing performance as Peter Gabriel. I saw him 10 years ago he was just as much of a pure artist then. His voice still sounds excellent and his fertile mind has developed another brilliant show this go round. It’s almost like performance art. Recommended to the absolute fullest extent.
Peter Gabriel @ Kia Forum
Peter Gabriel is back on top! A collection of new songs paired with amazing visuals, there's not much more you can ask for. Glad to have been able to experience seeing Peter live.
Incredible!!!
A masterpiece from start to finish... the best sound I've ever heard at that venue and maybe ever... band, performance, stage show, effects and lighting as well as the music set was amazing... Mr Gabriel and crew have done it once again!
Watching thus guy is like watching art
Id seen him before and was struck by the purity of the artistry that he brought to the show. Peter is on his own planet and is on his own algorithm. Thank God; this guy is the realest of deals. Unavoidably and fundamentally creative. Yet he still maintains the ability to connect with the audience, and his voice has remained intact. He also has a terrific sense of humor. Honestly, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen from a creativity and authenticity point of view. Peter does not give you the wink-wink performance. There is absolutely nothing ironic about his show. So glad I saw him again. A true artist. Go see him.
It's PETER!!!
One of my bucket list items was to see Peter Gabriel in concert. After surviving end stage renal failure in 2010, I didn't think Peter would ever come on tour in the USA. Fast forward to 2023 and I was able to secure tickets to see PETER GABRIEL in Austin Texas! His concert was phenomenal from beginning to end. I highly recommended seeing his concert to any Peter Gabriel fan.
Over my life I think I have attended every Peter Gabriel tour. He really has out done himself this time. This is one of the best concerts ever! Amazing integration of music, storytelling, and art. Great mix of new and old songs. Played for 3 hours! Absolutely amazing performance. Perfect!
Excellent spectacle
Peter Gabriel must know of a different water source than me. I grow up singing his songs, and I am way older than him :-) amazing, amazing vocals, amazing songs and an amazing band as always. Must see!!!
The best never disappoints
Peter Gabriel is one of my favorite artists of all time. This is my third time seeing him, and he still sounds amazing. The musicians are extremely talented, and the visual experience of the tour exceeded my expectations. I will go see him again and again. He is such a giving artist. Thank you, Peter!
Great staging, horrible sound
PG has the clearest studio in the planet. I am sure his road gear is the same. Vocals were mud/buried and bass was a blur. When he talked at the beginning I was shocked at how thin it was - I thought something was wrong. The mix was all over the place - guitar barely audible a lot of the time. My other two other shows at the Mood (James Taylor and Billy Strings) were not better. Sat on the side balcony for JT and the slap back bounce off the back wall was so bad I had to plug one ear then both to hear anything clearly. Sat at the back straight on for Billly and it was a little better but vocals were still muddy. The arena needs some serious acoustic remodeling. If PG vocals sound bad then all is pretty much lost. Will not be returning for anyone I care to listen to with precision.

Peter Gabriel Opens 2023 Tour, His First in 7 Years
Peter Gabriel (r) with Tony Levin, on opening night, May 18, 2023
Peter Gabriel opened his 2023 “i/o the Tour” on Thursday in Kraków, Poland, with a 23-song set that included much of the new album. The May 18 concert kicked off his first tour since he and Sting played their lengthy “Rock Paper Scissors” run in 2016. It represents his first solo tour since 2014’s “Back to Front” tour.
Produced by Live Nation, the 22 shows in Europe continue through June 25. It resumes with a North America tour that begins on Sept. 8. The touring band includes Gabriel veterans Tony Levin (bass), Richard Evans (guitar, flute), Manu Katché (drums), and David Rhodes (guitar), plus newcomers Ayanna Witter-Johnson (cello, piano, vocals), Marina Moore (violin, viola, vocals), Don McLean (keyboards), and Josh Shpak (trumpet, french horn, keys, vocals).
Gabriel had announced the tour six months’ earlier and began releasing tracks from the album on Jan. 6. As of opening night, Gabriel had shared five songs—all of which he played—yet, surprisingly, the album is still not available for pre-order. The evening’s set included nine songs from i/o …

The concert omitted several of his well known tracks including “Games Without Frontiers” and “Shock the Monkey.” Fans hoping Gabriel would resurrect any of the material from his years as Genesis’ frontman would have gone home disappointed.

The European dates mark his first shows outside of North America since 2014. “It’s been a while and I am now surrounded by a whole lot of new songs and am excited to be taking them out on the road for a spin. Look forward to seeing you out there,” Gabriel said in the original Nov. 8 tour announcement.
The second set ended with “Solsbury Hill.”
Gabriel’s first encore was “In Your Eyes.”
“This is for all those willing to stand up for what they believe in.” Gabriel closed the show with “Biko.”

Peter Gabriel’s “i/o” Tour: A Night of Iconic Music and Timeless Performances
A few words that come to mind when you think of Peter Gabriel are icon, legend, visionary, genius, and pioneer. Last Saturday night, on October 14th, Gabriel’s “i/o” tour made a stop at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, CA. This particular show was an addition to the tour schedule, as initially, the tour was announced to conclude at the KIA Forum in Inglewood, CA, the night before, back in March. Before Gabriel made his way to North America, he toured across Europe and the UK, then made his way to Canada in early September. The tour originally consisted of just seven U.S. shows, and less than two weeks after the tour was announced, it was expanded to include 13 more. This show was the second-to-last West Coast date, with the remaining shows taking place in Denver, CO, Austin, Dallas, and Houston, TX. This is Gabriel’s first tour since 2016 when he toured with Sting, who just played the same arena a week earlier. “i/o” is the title of Gabriel’s upcoming album, and it’ll be his first release since “New Blood” (2011). It has been a work in progress since 1995 when it was intended to follow “Up” (2002). This will be Gabriel’s first album of all original material since “Up.” The album is scheduled to be released in December.
When Gabriel tours, he brings out a one-of-a-kind show that only he could put on. Gabriel played a crucial role as the lead singer in the legendary prog-rock group Genesis from 1967 to 1975, while Phil Collins joined the group as its fourth drummer in 1970. With Genesis, Gabriel was known for his elaborate costumes, such as Slipper Man, Lawn Mower, Fox’s Head, Magog, and Flower Mask. Following Gabriel’s departure from Genesis, he released four self-titled solo albums (1977-1982), and his fifth album, the groundbreaking “So” (1986), was the first to feature drum legend Manu Katché, who has also recorded seven albums with Sting, as well as records by Joni Mitchell, Jeff Beck, Tori Amos, and more. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of “So,” Gabriel put together the band from the album for a tour in 2012-2014. “So” reached number one in eight countries and was certified RIAA 5x Platinum, including three of Gabriel’s biggest hits: “In Your Eyes,” “Sledge Hammer,” and “Don’t Give Up,” a duet with Kate Bush. Since “So,” Katché has played on “Us,” “Up,” and “i/o.” For 47 years, bassist Tony Levin (King Crimson, Stickmen) has been performing with Gabriel, and guitarist David Rhodes has been with Gabriel for 44 years. The band also includes guitarist Richard Evans, keyboardist Don-E, Josh Shpak (Trumpet), cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson, and violinist Marina Moore. The crew members, from sound engineers to lighting technicians and camera crew, were all dressed in orange flight suits. Going back to the 80s when Gabriel’s band consisted of Levin, Rhodes, Katché, and keyboardist David Sancious. His band wore trench coats and wireless headsets. There has always been a futuristic aspect to Gabriel’s shows. There were a few times during the show when Gabriel, Rhodes, and Levin all stood and danced together, which was quite special, as it’s something they’ve done since his historic 80s performances.
Following a 20-minute intermission, set two began with “Darkness,” with Gabriel and the band performing behind a screen, which they also used for the following song, “Love Can Heal.” “Don’t Give Up” was performed on a riser behind the band, with Gabriel and his cellist/backing vocalist Witter-Johnson singing Bush’s parts. If there’s one song in particular where Katché went all out, it was “Red Rain,” which he played intensely while keeping the volume relatively low. The second-to-last song was “Live and Let Live,” from “i/o,” in which Gabriel talked about South African President Nelson Mandela (1994-1999), who the song is about, and how he stood with those responsible for his imprisonment and the death of his friends. How he shared the lesson of forgiveness. Set two came to an end with one of Gabriel’s biggest hits, “Solsbury Hill.” Gabriel would return for a double encore, with the first consisting of “The Tower that Ate People” and “In Your Eyes.” During “In Your Eyes,” the multiple screens in the back showed half of each member’s face and would do a closeup of their eyes. The show finished with “Biko,” which was written after the death of South African anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko in police custody in 1977. As the show came to a close, each member, one by one, walked off the stage as they chanted “Oh, Oh, Oh,” and Katché was the final member to walk off as he kept the beat going through the end. As always, Gabriel gave a performance like no other.

Peter Gabriel’s ‘i/o The Tour’ is All About the Dynamics
- By: Kevin M. Mitchell
- November 2023 , Production Profile
- November 6, 2023

If you’re remotely familiar with Peter Gabriel’s music, you can probably guess what his audio crew says is their biggest challenge: “His music is very dynamic, both within a song and between songs,” says FOH engineer Richard Sharratt. “I enjoy the whole show but dynamically it’s hard — I’m pushing and pulling Peter’s vocal all the time, constantly riding it. But it’s really satisfying.”
The artist’s recent i/o – The Tour has “great new material, and a great band,” Sharratt notes. The lineup not only spotlights Gabriel’s usual bandmates — bassist Tony Levin, guitarist David Rhodes and drummer Manu Katché — “but new elements as well, including violin, viola, cello, trumpet and French horn that add a different flavor and texture to the old songs and define the characters of the new ones.” It’s a bit of dream gig too: “I’ve been a huge Peter Gabriel/Genesis fan since my teens, and here I am mixing FOH for him.”

The concert, Gabriel’s first solo outing since 2014, begins on a quiet note. He comes out alone and starts talking to the audience, who are already on their feet. After telling them to sit, he “lights” a campfire center stage, and introduces longtime bass player Tony Levin for a duet. Soon the rest of the band is in a semi-circle beneath a large round video screen showing a full moon and he plays songs from his early career. “Peter and [keyboardist] Don-E have wireless MIDI keyboards,” Sharratt explains. Gabriel also has a wireless DPA 4288 headset mic; the rest are on Shure 98/HC headsets.
“Peter is very particular about the sound, and wants everything to be just right,” says band monitor engineer Damon “Dee” Miller. “He will spend a lot of time on the details.”

By Way of Orchestra
Sharratt was born in Dorking, southwest of London. “I went to a Quaker school that had a good drama facility,” he says. In 1978, he left high school with a desire to work in theater lighting. He worked a couple of local theaters, and then moved over to sound, transferring to the West End with the original production of the musical Blood Brothers. In October of 1986, he found himself behind the console at the opening of Phantom of the Opera . His ability to mix orchestras well was duly noted, and soon he was mixing BBC’s Proms in the Park , Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Montserrat Caballé and arena operas. In 2010, Peter Gabriel needed an engineer for his New Blood tour, and Bryan Grant of Britannia Row put Sharratt’s name forward for that orchestra-rich gig.
He was there again for the Gabriel/Sting Rock Paper Scissors tour of 2016, which he mixed with Sting’s engineer, Howard Page. Both earned FOH Mixer of the Year Parnelli Awards for their efforts. He also mixed for Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul for a few years, and since the end of the pandemic, he’s been back with Gabriel.

Britannia Row Productions, a Clair Global brand, supplies L-Acoustics’ K1, K2, K3 and KS28 concert sound system for both legs of the tour. “I’m loving mixing on K1 for this tour as it gives the mix a great warmth, depth, and clarity that really draws the audience in,” Sharratt says. “K1 makes me feel like I’m listening to everything on a set of audiophile nearfield monitors, even at the back of the room.” He says with the L-Acoustic rig, he “gets to walk the room in virtual soundcheck and during soundcheck, and, thanks to system engineer Ben [Webb], the coverage is always great.”
Sharratt works his magic on an SSL Live L550 and has been using SSL consoles since 2014. “It’s very visual, and the colors and icons make it easy to be hands-on. And everything is onboard; it has great, smooth compression and EQ.” He uses light compression on each of the music and vocal stems and the matrix outputs. For Gabriel’s vocal inserts, he uses the onboard de-sser, multi-band compressor and a noise gate to minimize spill. There are four i/o racks, 68 mono inputs, 39 stereo inputs, 12 stereo groups, 13 mono auxes, 19 stereo auxes and 24 matrix outs. Outboard are four MIDI-controlled Bricasti M7s reverbs with M10 remote, SMAART and a full Pro Tools recording rig.

He uses parallel compression on the drums consisting of two stems, one essentially uncompressed and one hard compressed. “All the drum mics are timed back to the overhead mics which are rigged as an XY coincidental pair,” he says. There are also 10-band group EQ inserts for “squeaking” Gabriel’s vocals to maximize gain before feedback. “I use channel comps to catch the big stuff and to smooth out those dynamics.”
A wide variety of mics are employed. Some of these include Sennheiser E901 and Shure B52 on the kick drum; Shure B56 and B57 on the snare; and Sennheiser E904s on the toms. On overheads, ride and hi-hat are Schoeps CMC6/MK4s “which I’m still using from my orchestra days – these are expensive but are lovely, open, uncolored mics.” The violin, viola and cello are double inputs with DPA 4099s and pickups on the viola and violin, and there is a 4099 and Schertler Stat C on the cello. The trumpet and horn have Shure Beta98s, and there is a Neumann KM184 on flute. After the “campfire” set, Gabriel and the band use Audix OM6 vocal mics.

Present and Future
“I’m the past, he’s the future,” band monitor engineer Damon “Dee” Miller likes to say of his monitoring partner, 24-year-old Dom Shaw. Miller is being self-deprecating, though he makes a case for Shaw, who is Gabriel’s monitor engineer. Plucked from a recording studio, this is Shaw’s first tour. Miller, having been on the road for 39 years, has logged a few more miles. He has worked for Robert Plant and Jeff Beck among others. “Peter is always pushing the boundaries,” states Miller, who first worked with Gabriel in 2003. Miller says he was also the first person to use an SSL live in 2012 and notes that Gabriel was one of the major stakeholders in the company and had a hand in developing the console. Miller has a good relationship with all the band members. “There are challenging moments, because it’s complicated music, but they are all great people and amazing musicians.” Apart from a wedge for the drummer, the bandmembers all receive monitor mixes via IEMs.
Shaw’s story is just getting started. Four years ago, he began working at Gabriel’s recording studio, and got to work on the i/o album. Shaw was then asked to come out and mix monitors for Gabriel on this tour. “[Live] is a completely different animal,” he says. He adds that Gabriel wants his in-ear mixes to sound as close to the recording as possible, so Shaw provides a similar mix to what they heard in the studio.

The Systems Approach
System engineer Ben Webb describes the typical P.A. setup: 14 L-Acoustics K1 over four K2 down per side for mains; a center hang of two A15 (one Wide, one Focus); and left and right arrays of eight KS28 subs flown in a cardioid configuration. Twelve K1 over four K2 per side serve as the outfill hangs, while 16 more K3 per side cover the 220° seating sections. Twenty-two ground-stacked KS28 subs are deployed in a cardioid array, with four A15 per side for out-fill and four A10 as lip-fills. For the North America tour, four hangs of eight K3 are flown for delay. The full system is powered by 66 LA12X amplified controllers and processed via two P1 Milan-AVB processors using M1 for tuning. Sharratt also has two X8 and a SB15 sub as a reference system at FOH.
“On the recent European run, we were playing quite a range of venues, from amphitheaters to outdoor fields to arenas,” Webb says. “Getting a consistent sound from the very front row to the top back seat is critically important.” Most of his designs are done in advance, where he relies on a mixture of CAD drawings and knowledge gained from touring through the venues before. “Every morning, I verify my design with the stage and rigging positions and then make any final tweaks. In my initial designs, I rely a fair amount on [Soundvision’s] Autosplay and Autofilter functions as they give me a very good starting point to work from. And with the mixture of venues we are playing, especially the outdoor shows, L-Acoustic’s P1’s Autoclimate tool for temperature and humidity compensation is particularly helpful.”
Webb began his career as an audio tech for local companies in Southampton, England before becoming a freelancer for Britannia Row. This is his first tour with Gabriel, and along with his efforts to achieve consistent coverage from front to back in a variety of venues, he must also factor in Gabriel’s wide dynamic range. “We want people in the back to be able to understand what he’s saying, and there’s a lot of delicacy in the songs. That’s the hardest part.” The initial design of the system was done at Britannia Row by Josh Lloyd, and Webb adjusts to fit whatever room they are playing in. “There’s a lot of getting the timing right, and also just listening and doing what feels right.”

Crew chief Fergus Mount began working audio on the London theater scene and ended up working the 2012 Olympics held there. That’s where he met Dave Compton, who is now a Britannia Row account manager. This is Mount’s first time out with Gabriel. “The show has been well received,” he says. Gear-wise, the North American leg is similar to the European leg with the exception of additional delay speakers for the larger rooms on this leg. “That’s why we have some additional crew members, too, including Taylor Samuel.” (Samuel was “borrowed” from Eighth Day Sound, also part of the Clair organization.) He says the overall resources of Clair make moving back and forth easier; not all on the European crew had visas. This worked out well for Samuel, and she was grateful for the opportunity to get more experience on a tour this size.
Compton, who has been with Britannia Row since 2013, is handling the account. There is a lot of history with the artist: “Peter became a client of the then-newly formed Britannia Row Productions in 1979, with Bryan Grant looking after the account for 43 years until 2022,” he says. “We have had the privilege of providing the audio for most of his tours, both in Europe and the U.S.” The tour’s move to North American production shifted the control from Europe, picking up the L-Acoustics P.A. and three U.S.-based techs to join the three others that came over from the UK. “It was all very easy to maneuver alongside tour manager Dave Taraskevics and production manager Gary Trew. It’s a tough gig with very high expectations, and everyone has pulled together to give the audience an exceptional experience.”
After starting out with the European leg this spring, the North American leg of “i/o — The Tour” wrapped up Oct. 21 at Toyota Center in Houston, TX.

Peter Gabriel Announces 2023 Tour
by Tina Benitez-Eves November 8, 2022, 11:20 am
For the first time in nearly a decade, Peter Gabriel announces an official solo trek outside of North America. The singer returns to Europe and the U.K. in 2023 for his “i/o The Tour,” which supports his forthcoming album of the same name.
Videos by American Songwriter
The tour, which kicks off on May 18, in Krakow, Poland, and concludes on June 23, in Dublin, Ireland, consists of 22 shows across U.K. and Europe.
“It’s been awhile and I am now surrounded by a whole lot of new songs and am excited to be taking them out on the road,” Gabriel said in a statement. “Look forward to seeing you out there.”
Gabriel previously teamed with Sting on the road in 2016 for the pair’s “Rock Paper Scissors” trek. He last toured solo in 2014 with the “Back to Front Tour,” which commemorated the 25th anniversary of his fifth album, So . He released his most recent album of new, original material in 2002 with Up . In 2010, Gabriel unveiled a covers albums Scratch My Back , followed by 2011’s New Blood , a collection of orchestral re-recordings of songs spanning his career.

Though a release date for i/o hasn’t been announced, more details of the album are forthcoming. Earlier in 2022, Gabriel said he had a number of new songs he was “trying to get finished” and initially planned to release something by the end of 2022. In 2021, Gabriel posted a series of photos featuring himself with longtime drummer Manu Katché, guitarist David Rhodes and bassist Tony Levin, at his Real World Studios in Wiltshire, England.
Gabriel also shared that he and his band worked on 17 songs in 10 days.
“I’m excited by what is being cooked at the moment,” said Gabriel when he first began teasing new music in 2020. “I have been slowed down quite a lot by lockdown. We’ve not been able to have Dickie [engineer Richard Chappell], but I have enough songs that I like, to make a record I’m proud of.”

Live from Studio D: Paula Cole is 'stretching out her wings and getting back to work'
Paula Cole will be the first to affirm that most musicians don't start their careers performing in stadiums before tens of thousands of fans.
But when Sinead O’Conner suddenly departed Peter Gabriel’s 1993 world tour, that’s exactly what happened. Peter had heard Paula Cole’s yet-to-be-released debut album "Harbinger" — he called her up, and asked her to join him for the rest of his multi-continent run.
Paula Cole recently stopped by NHPR’s Studio D to talk with Morning Edition's Rick Ganley about her formative years as an artist, and share new music from her 11th studio album “Lo."
Paula Cole, great to have you live in studio at NHPR. Thank you so much for coming in.
It's an honor to be here. Thanks for having me.
How remarkable to be on tour with Peter Gabriel before you even have a first record out.
To be in enormous arenas as your very first tour is abnormal, and wonderful and educational. And, yeah, that was my first touring experience— and it was a very unique tour experience. Five star everything and all downhill from there [laughs].
And then of course, through the mid 90s, [you have] incredible hits like "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" and "I Don't Want to Wait" — and Lilith Fair. You're in pop-stardom at that point, but um, feeling disillusioned. Is that the right term for it?
There's so much to say about all that. I think I needed to leave the music business. It was an ill fitting snakeskin I was growing out of. And also, it did happen too fast. And I was an introvert. I didn't honestly like the way my career was moving. [It was] very hits focused and record companies kind of pressuring me to be a certain way.
I'm worshiping at the altar of music. I am here, I love it, and I want the good work.
I would have liked a slower build and a longer build. So I took about seven years off. I had my daughter and then kind of quietly picked up again, releasing albums starting in 2007.
But this was my return to writing all my music. It's highly personal. It's called "Lo." It was just the right time in my life to be introspective. Like, literally going back to therapy and kind of looking at myself again. And songwriting is so amazing that way. It's like a dialog with your subconscious and you find truths about yourself, and the next thing you know, you're singing them to thousands of people. It's a very naked feeling.
Yeah, it's a very personal record. One of the songs you played Live in Studio D today, "The Replacements and Dinosaur Jr."— now to some of us of a certain age, including me, those bands are huge. And if you're from Massachusetts, Dinosaur Jr. was a big Massachusetts band. Tell me about that song. The lyrics are very personal, about someone who's very close to you, obviously, and very, seminal to your development.
The song was from my friend Mark Hutchins. We were together early in the 90s. We drove across the country and we set up in San Francisco, and we lived over a gas station with two roommates on the corner of 17th and South Van Ness, where I wrote a lot of songs. I mean, I wrote "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" there, and he taught me so much about music, about production, even engineering.
And he also exposed me to music that I would never in a million years have listened to. I mean, growing up in Rockport, Massachusetts isolated musically— I just was not hip in a way —and then he exposed me to all that beautiful alternative rock and kind of bohemian left hip hop, early hip hop.
I miss Mark so much. He left behind two kids. He's from Hanover, New Hampshire. And here's a shout out to Rick and Betsy, his parents. I just wish he were here because we were picking up the thread again of our friendship. I needed to write a song for him, and it needed to be fun and kind of irreverent like he was.
So yeah, you know, my life is in these songs. My songs are like Polaroid snapshots.
You're about to start another tour with these brand new songs. How does that feel to be, you know, playing these very personal songs in front of an audience?
I get a little nervous, and I — there was one song I forgot some lyrics, like— they're still new, and that's the beauty of it; that it gives you an immediacy and a little anxiety, and it makes your heart beat.
So it's feeling good and you're feeling hopeful for more writing, more [touring] in the future?
I'm feeling really good about my career. My kids are 22 and about to graduate college. I've got two kids graduating in May, and this mother is stretching out her wings and getting back to work.
And even though I've had periods of dormancy in my career for sure, and I've been up and I've been down and I've been cool and I've been uncool, the people who have been with me—and even like Gen Zers who have now are following me on TikTok—it feels really good. Like people are kind of understanding what "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" is really about now. And the songs hold up well over a couple of decades, and... I'm worshiping at the altar of music. I am here, I love it, and I want the good work.
I want to be thought of. So it's lovely to be thought of. I'm really grateful.
Paula Cole, I can't thank you enough for coming and playing Live in Studio D. This has been a wonderful performance.
Thank you.

J. Geils Band’s Peter Wolf announces summer tour dates around New England
It’s been a minute since Peter Wolf hit the road, but that’s about to change. The former J. Geils Band singer has announced a string of New England dates that’ll give longtime fans a chance to see the Hard Drivin’ Man do what he does better than most: Perform live onstage.
Wolf, who celebrated his 78th birthday last month, is doing a series of unplugged shows he’s calling the “Waiting On The Moon Tour: An Acoustic Evening of Stories and Songs.” He’ll be joined on the July dates by two frequent collaborators — guitarists Duke Levine and Kevin Barry.
Though best known as the electrifying frontman of the J. Geils Band, Wolf has released eight well-reviewed albums under his own name, including 2002′s “ Sleepless ,” which Rolling Stone ranked No. 427 on a list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
Lately, Wolf, who grew up in the Bronx but has lived in Boston for several decades, has been keeping a low profile while he writes a memoir. Anyone familiar with the singer’s backstory knows the book could be fascinating. In his late teens, Wolf lived in an apartment around the corner from Club 47, the Harvard Square coffeehouse that became Club Passim, and hung out with the likes of Mose Allison, Bill Monroe, Otis Spann, Howlin’ Wolf, and Muddy Waters.
The first of the seven shows are July 5 and 6 at Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Maine. Wolf will also perform in Fall River July 12, Westerly, R.I., July 13, Natick July 18, Norfolk, Conn., July 19, and Rockport July 25. Ticket info can be found at peterwolf.com .

US warned Russia after steady stream of intelligence that ISIS-K was determined to attack, source says
From CNN’s Alex Marquardt, Natasha Bertrand and Jennifer Hansler
Starting in November, there has been a steady stream of intelligence that ISIS-K was determined to attack in Russia, according to two sources familiar with the intelligence.
It was “fairly specific” intelligence, rising to the level of a duty to warn and the US intelligence community did indeed warn Russia, one of the sources said. But it’s not clear if this is directly tied to the March 7 warning by the US embassy in Moscow.
Russian state media reported on March 7 that the FSB prevented an ISIS attack on a synagogue in Moscow, according to Reuters. The ISIS attackers were killed in a gunfight, the reports said.
A US official told CNN that the US is working to determine who is culpable for the attack at a Moscow concert venue.
Adrienne Watson, National Security Council spokesperson, issued a statement Friday on the US warning Russia about an attack.
"Earlier this month, the US government had information about a planned terrorist attack in Moscow – potentially targeting large gatherings, to include concerts – which prompted the State Department to issue a public advisory to Americans in Russia. The US Government also shared this information with Russian authorities in accordance with its longstanding ‘duty to warn’ policy."

From CNN's Richard Roth and Mia Alberti

"The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Russian people, and they wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured," the UNSC said in a statement.
The members of the UNSC urged all States to cooperate with the Russian government to "hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice."
"The members of the Security Council reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed," it said.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned "in the strongest possible terms today's terrorist attack at a concert hall outside Moscow," according to a statement released by deputy spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Farhan Haq.
