Rob Zombie Concert Setlist Info

Rob Zombie has continued to keep fans on the edge of their seats with two completely unique setlists between the two previous runs of the Freaks on Parade Tour . Although his 2022 performances featured mainstay covers of The Beatles (“Helter Skelter”) and Ramones (“Blitzkrieg Bop”), the 2023 successor strictly focused on original material aside from the can’t-miss hits from his White Zombie days, “Thunder Kiss ‘65” and “More Human than Human.”

Elsewhere in 2023, Rob Zombie unearthed deep cuts like “Meet the Creeper” from his 1998 debut Hellbilly Deluxe as well as “Demon Speeding” and “Scum of the Earth” from 2001’s The Sinister Urge . As for the singer’s more recent fare, the 2020 single “The Triumph of King Freak (A Crypt of Preservation and Superstition)” and “Shake Your Ass – Smoke Your Grass” have become electrifying additions to live shows.

I had tickets 3 other times to see Rob since 1994. Something always happened and I didn't get to the shows. Unfortunately he didn't live up to my expectations. His vocals were not great and the guitarist seemed a little off as well. THe stage show and videos were good. He was not bad but he wasn't as good as expected, and playing after Korn had a killer show just made him look worse. 22 years of waiting and all I can do is :(

Rob Zombie killed yet another show last night. Every time I see his show it is a that my voice will be gone. What make his concerts even better for me is taking my son to his shows. I think he was hooked the from the start of his very first zombie concert. Pop Evil did a great job warming up the crowd, and Disturbed put on such a great concert, but there is a good reason I have been a Zombie fan since 1992. Rob Zombie has to be on of the great live concert performers of all time. If you haven't had a chance to see him perform treat yourself to a great show.

Rob Zombie’s Freaks On Parade Tour sets off in St. Louis

rob zombie past tours

Rob Zombie brought a packed lineup of artists to the opening show of his Freaks On Parade 2022 tour in Saint Louis. Teaming up with the ever-elusive heavy metal legend Mudvayne , this show is guaranteed to be a high octane thrill of a time.

Starting the show was late 90s rock staple, Powerman5000. The band brought insane energy to the first set of the night, getting the crowd ready with headbangers like “When Worlds Collide”. It’s obvious that the 95-degree heat in Saint Louis is not slowing down the bands or the crowd, as the moshing began almost instantly.

Following PM5K was another metal powerhouse, Static X.

This band took the baton from Powerman5000 and turned the energy up to another level. They had the crowd screaming and shoving as they moshed their cares away. Next up was a much anticipated event — the return of Mudvayne to the touring circuit. The heavy metal band from Illinois broke a decade-long hiatus which started in 2010; playing only a handful of festival shows in 2021, tonight was their first stop in the Freaks On Parade Tour in which they are co-headlining with Rob Zombie . The band certainly returned with a bang. Exploding onto the stage (and soon after into the crowd), Mudvayne’s members all sport some degree of mask/face makeup and their vibe is gruesome, to say the least. Heavy guitars soften in comparison to the gritty bellows emitted by the band’s lead vocalist, Chad Gray. The throaty notes he holds throughout the entire show make you wonder how his vocal chords manage to function at all. The crowd is clearly aware that this is a bit of a historical moment for the band, as their energy seems to be boiling over with intensified moshing.

Last, but not least, second co-headliner Rob Zombie took the stage.

Starting the show from the top of a giant mechanical skull, the scale and intensity of the show’s production matched the heavy vibes of the music and insane energy of the crowd. All of this combined into what can only be described as a blend between horror and metal that few bands in the genre manage to achieve. Joining Zombie onstage was a legendary guitarist by the name of John 5, who was known for playing with David Lee Roth and Marilyn Manson prior to becoming the guitarist for Rob Zombie. John 5 and the rest of the band absolutely shredded on their respective instruments, leaving Zombie free to charge aggressively from one side of the stage to another, delivering his often menacingly dark lyrics.

If you’re a metal fan, the Freaks On Parade Tour is a can’t miss affair, especially considering that this is the first good chance to see Mudvayne in the last 10+ years. The tour continues through the summer and fall across most of the US, so any and all headbangers should be able to find a date that’s in their area. Just don’t forget your ear plugs… and maybe line up a neck brace for the aftermath…

ABOUT ALICE COOPER:

Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. Alice Cooper brings his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Twenty-plus years into the new millennium, Cooper is always very productive and busy, touring worldwide year-in and year-out while also writing, recording and releasing new albums like 2021’s “Detroit Stories,” which entered the Billboard Album chart at #1, and finishing up TWO new albums planned for 2023, while also continuing to do his nightly “Nights With Alice Cooper” syndicated radio show.

Rob Zombie

A few years back, Rob Zombie sat down with the Rotten Tomatoes blog to discuss his favorite horror films. Not surprisingly, all of the director’s picks are pre-code pictures that push the envelope. Amongst Zombie’s faves is Edgar G. Ulmer’s The Black Cat . The film delivers an impressive cast that includes the likes of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. Moreover, the narrative has an occult angle sure to appeal to anyone who enjoys a bit of witchery.

Zombie spoke to his fondness for the 1934 picture at length, saying: “Lugosi, but with Karloff, who also is demented, as a Satan worshiper. David Manners, who is in Dracula , again giving another bizarre, stiff, wooden performance, except this time it’s more obvious, because you have two guys who are amazing surrounding him. It’s always weird watching these sort of straight-up leading men being destroyed by these freaks. I don’t know, it’s kind of weird. I guess these guys don’t really get the credit that they deserve for their acting, because they were always in horror movies, but Lugosi and Karloff are just incredible. I mean, they create these iconic moments that define what cinema is, and they’re sort of brushed off. But I guess that’s the way it goes.”

The setup goes like this: After a road accident in Hungary, the American honeymooners Joan and Peter and the enigmatic Dr Werdegast find refuge in the house of the famed architect Hjalmar Poelzig, who shares a dark past with the doctor.

That’s all we’ve got for the time being. Stay tuned to the site for more recommendations from Rob Zombie and other cult filmmakers as we uncover them. And be sure to follow @DreadCentral on Twitter so you never miss an update.
