Incredible adventure and organization. The staff, equipment, accommodation and food was spot on. Just exactly what was needed and wanted! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, ensures everyone’s needs were accommodated. Perfect trip.
Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire (with Materuni waterfalls, coffee tour) - 6 Days
The safari to Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation Area was excellent. The guide, Lewis, was quite knowledgeable, the accommodation better than other camp sites, and the meals very delicious. It also helped that we saw all five of the Big 5! In addition, we saw baby elephants rolling about in the mud, a pack of spotted hyena dealing with a carcass, and a male and female lion attempting to mate. Lake Manyara was a little disappointing because the heavy rains had stirred up the mud in the water and discouraged the birds from feeding there. I also felt that the guide was not as informative as Lewis. The visit to Materuni Falls was good although very muddy because of the wet weather. The food was excellent and the coffee tour very lively and entertaining.

Serengeti Safari - (PRIVATE TRIP)
We had an amazing safari tour and guide with One Seed Expeditions! Our guide worked so hard to get us the best views of the beautiful animals! He knew how to get ahead of the crowds so we had time to enjoy the natural beauty. I highly recommend One Seed for safari!
Big Five Luxury Safari in Tanzania **Sustainable Approach to Travel
Our safari trip was beyond expectations, witnessing the great migration and many wonderful viewings of wildlife. Our driver and guide Issa was exceptional in his professionalism and attention to our needs, becoming a friend during our time together. The ballon ride was a wonderful experience! All contact with World Adventure Tours has been courteous, professional and timely. Thank you Joyce!
Tanzania Safari Experience National Geographic Journeys
The guide Zuri, and driver Hamdani were the BEST! They were fun, knowledgeable, professional, helpful, handled all our needs and requests efficiently, and were so enthusiastic about making the trip a great experience for the group. Zuri especially, is a gem - a superb professional and a great asset for the G Adventures company. They should find and hire others like her.
5 Days Tanzania Enticing Explorations
We were with Steppe Dogs Adventures for 5 days on safari in the Lake Manyara, Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater. Our driver Joseph Mashine was one of the best you can ever find out in the bush. He drove us safely through all muddy waters while others got stuck. And he is a fantastic spotter. We could see with him all big 5 and above all the Serval cat which is a rarity on its own. The whole trip was perfectly organised and they found for us the perfect stays in the tented camps. As the non plus ultra they organised for us a balloon safari with the most experienced balloon pilot Paco. It was the once in a lifetime experience. 2 million wildebeests as far as you can see. Unbelievable. If you really want a safari out of the common tracks Joseph is the man. He managed to be on spots nobody was there. Asante sana Mashine.
7 Days Tanzania Classic Safari
I can only highly recommend Steppe Dogs Adventures. From the very beginning they were very professional and efficient. We were in touch via mail and any question I would ask was answered immediately. They also took care of all my suggestions and in the end we had a safari exactly like he hoped to have. My mom and I went on Safari for seven days. We had a very good car which we only shared with our lovely driver/guide/friend Godbless Marick. He was a perfect driver so we felt safe all of the time even though die to the weather it was sometimes quite hard to drive. He also knew everything about animals (especially birds) and nature as well as historical facts about the places. The lodges/ "tents" Steppe Dogs Adventures chose for us where almost more than we had expected. We felt very comfortable and could enjoy these great experiences even better. The food and drinks were also excellent there. In total it was worth every dollar and we can only highly recommend to go with them. Enjoy :)
5 Days Tanzania Budget Safari
A wish that has come true I did the safari with my wife and a couple friends. From the first contact to the end everything was super organized and you felt safe in every situation. Every staff member on this tour was very accommodating and not only took care of everything for us, but also put a smile on our faces. It has always been a dream of mine to get to know the heart of Africa and my dream was fulfilled by our tour guide Aboh. His 10 years of experience was felt in every moment. Chasing the Bug Five, he told us everything about the nature, the animals and the land. We could not have had a better man at our side. In addition, the luxury camp in the Serengeti Park is absolute madness. The quality is outstanding and unforgettable. The private dinner is incredibly romantic. I can only recommend to everyone to do this tour.
5 Days Big Five Tanzania Camping Safari ( Tarangire, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area ) (all accommodation and transport are included)
warm greeting offered by joseph and with raphael expert driving, we knew our Spider tours and safaris interactions were going to be most enjoyable. Charles was patiently awaiting our Kilimanjaro international airport arrival and, as we drove to our first night's lodging, provided to us helpful acclimating information and reviewed with us our upcoming daily activities. Traveling many hours and feeling the affects, it was physically and psychologically helpful to be well received by them. Following our first night, we spent the next five adventure-filled days with, in our opinion, Spider tours and safaris best game driving professional, we saw the Big 15 (plus) except for wild dog (South Africa) and crocodile (not within the game reserves we visited with . Throughout our travels with our guide , he was accommodating with appropriate stops and assured we were aligned with our thoughts and timelines. Our guide "adventure travels" included Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge and game drives in the central and northern Serengeti. We were thrilled by the sights. An extraordinary experience! Highly recommend! Spider tours and safaris

We had an amazing experience at Africa Natural Tours and Safaris during 5 days Serengeti safari. The safari guides at Africa Natural Tours and Safaris were very friendly during our safari. On behalf of my group, I recommend Africa Natural Tours and Safaris as the best tour operator in wildlife safaris with friendly driver guides.

I would highly recommend Migration Venture Africa to anyone considering a safari in Tanzania. Trusting them with my safari was one of the best decisions I made, and I will forever be grateful for the remarkable memories I created under their guidance.

Tanzania Safari Tour Reviews
After a Kili climb we went on Safari. The arrangements at the lodges and the experience of our guide, Peter, made the trip memorable and unforgettable. We recommend using Oneseed for Safari and letting them take care of all of the plans from a hot air balloon ride to birthday celebration. It was a wonderful experience all the way around. We so treasure the trip and seeing the animals in their natural environment.

- Float gently above the plains of the Serengeti National Park and Tarangire National Park on a hot air balloon safari. Witness the African sunrise and the Great Wildebeest Migration, and capture breathtaking photographs from a unique perspective on this one-of-a-kind Serengeti safari experience.
- Trek to spot chimpanzees in the remote mountains of Mahale National Park .
- Photograph herds of elephants and giraffes while on your safari to Tarangire National Park in the dry season of June to October.
- Embark on a Tanzania camping trip where you also cover the vast savannah plains of the Serengeti National Park, so you can also indulge on a wildlife safari.
Tips for Tanzania Safari Tours
- Visit Tanzania in September to experience both the Great Wildebeest Migration and embark on a climbing expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro simultaneously.
- Pack lightweight, breathable clothing in neutral colors that blend with the environment, making it easier to watch wildlife up close without distracting them.
- Guided walking safaris and night drives can be costly, so plan your Tanzania safari tour in detail. Compare Tanzania luxury tours and Tanzania budget tours to compare and contrast your likings.
- Carefully vet your safari tour operators to see if they are experienced and are members of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO). All our Tanzania tours are run by TATO-verified safari operators.
- While going through your itinerary, be sure to ask important questions about the lodging situation on the safari, amenities, activities, destinations covered, etc. It is advisable to do your research on Tanzania safaris to ensure you have a comprehensive understanding of what to expect.

Tanzania is located in East Africa and is home to some of Africa’s most pristine wildlife sanctuaries, the second highest mountain in the world - Kilimanjaro, a massive volcanic crater, and gorgeous white sand beaches with warm turquoise waters. The plains of the Serengeti National Park offer an exhilarating safari experience with phenomenal game viewing opportunities which includes the “Great Mammal Migration” and the famous “Big Five” (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), whilst the tropical island of Zanzibar is a marine wonderland with its untouched coral reefs and gorgeous climate. Tanzania has a strong cultural heritage and offers visitors the rare opportunity in northern Tanzania of meeting with the fascinating Maasai people who have a great understanding of how to live in semi-arid and arid lands.
The question of when is the best time to visit Tanzania is best determined by what you wish to experience.
Tanzania has a temperate climate with relatively comfortable temperatures all year round. The main variation to the impact of the temperature is the humidity and annual rains.
Traditionally, the annual rainfall arrives around the beginning of April and continues until the end of June. The second, slightly less strong, rainy period, is from the beginning of November (around 2 weeks later on Zanzibar) to the middle of December, roughly speaking.
Although the Serengeti offers fantastic game viewing all year round, there are particular months that are deemed as the best time to visit the park. The dry season months of June through October are the most popular time of the year for a safari in Tanzania, with animals congregating near water sources and the vegetation thining; improving the visibility of animals. If you aspire to see the annual Mammal Migration , then it is best to travel during the months of June and July . In the months of December to March , the migration herds are located down in the very southern region of the park. April and May is a good time to book a safari in the northern parks of Tanzania, as the game is still good, crowds are minimal, and the prices are at the lowest of the year.
The best time to visit Zanzibar is from June to October during the cool, dry months of spring. Another popular time to visit this tropical island is from December to February when it’s hot and dry. The ocean temperatures are perfect for swimming, diving or snorkeling expeditions.
Mount Kilimanjaro is best climbed either between July and October or January to March .
Tanzania is a country located in East Africa and is renowned for its vast wilderness areas.
The plains of the Serengeti National Park offer an exhilarating safari experience with phenomenal game viewing opportunities which includes the “Great Mammal Migration” and the notorious “Big Five” (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), whilst Kilimanjaro National Park is home to Africa’s highest mountain. Offshore lie the tropical islands of Zanzibar, with Arabic influences, and a marine park which is home to whale sharks and beautiful coral reefs.
Also on the coast is the bustling city of Dar es Salaam, where Swahili culture meets a modern tropical metropolis. In the north, Olduvai Gorge is one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world; an asset in understanding early human evolution. Olduvai is next to Ngorongoro Crater, a massive volcanic valley that’s a major wildlife conservation and safari area, inhabited by the indigenous Maasai, who still pursue traditional tribal practices. Lake Tanganyika is the location of Jane Goodall’s primate research center, where visitors can track chimpanzees along the shoreline.
Serengeti National Park
Located in northern Tanzania, this World Heritage Site and most celebrated wilderness area known as the Serengeti is a photographer and filmmakers dream, especially during the massive annual migration of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. The crocodile infested Grumeti River is a top attraction during this remarkable event; with hungry Nile crocodiles awaiting their opportunity to strike as the herds frantically cross the river. The reserve has an abundance of wildlife with the numbers estimated to be well over 3 million. There is even an active volcano within the Serengeti National Park; the only volcano to eject carbonatite lavas that turn white when exposed to air.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a protected area and a World Heritage Site located 180 km (110 miles) west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within the area. The crater is 610 meters (2,000 feet) deep and its floor covers 260 square kilometers (100 square miles). Approximately 25,000 large animals, including the Big 5, live in the crater. The crater also has one of the densest known population of East African lions which are particularly strong in the Ndutu Lake area. It is important to note however that the Ngorongoro Crater does get very busy so we do recommend a two-night stay here.
Tarangire National Park
Often regarded as Tanzania’s most underrated national park, Tarangire is a must on a northern circuit itinerary. It is Africa’s best-kept secret, boasting a variety of wildlife and diverse landscapes. The name originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park. The river is the primary source of freshwater for wild animals in the Tarangire ecosystem during the annual dry season (July to October). Visitors to the park in the dry season can expect to see large herds of thousands of zebra, wildebeest and cape buffalo. Tarangire is notorious for its large elephant population - the largest in Tanzania. During the dry season, herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen digging in the dry riverbed of the Tarangire River looking for underground streams.
Boasting some of the finest tropical beaches in Africa, as well as world-class scuba-diving sites, we rate Zanzibar as an ideal destination for travelers seeking a blissful, barefoot-luxury holiday. Whether you want to spend your days relaxing on a tropical beach, exploring the cultural attractions of Stone Town, or enjoying the many water sports on offer, this island has something for every traveler.
Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park is a smaller park located both in Arusha Region and Manyara Region of Tanzania. The park is strikingly diverse with barren lands, forest, and a salt lake. Lake Manyara National Park is renowned for the flamingos that inhabit the lake. During the wet season, they can be found at the edges of the lake in flocks of thousands but they are not so present during the dry season. More than 400 species of birds inhabit the park making this the ideal location for bird watching. Leopards, East African lions, cheetahs, elephants, hippopotami, several antelope and many more wild animals inhabit this park and many can be seen throughout the year.
Located below Mount Meru in northern Tanzania, the charming city of Arusha is a gateway to the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Arusha National Park on Mount Meru. As it rests at the base of the twin peaks, Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, the city serves as an ideal base for hikers eager to conquer Africa’s highest mountain. Arusha is known for its vibrant nightlife, Masai Market, National Natural History Museum, and traditional Tanzanian cuisine.
Mount Meru is the fifth highest mountain in Africa and second highest in Tanzania, standing at 4 566 meters. The dormant stratovolcano is located 70 kilometers west of Mount Kilimanjaro and is often considered by hikers as a warm-up trek for Kilimanjaro. The fertile slopes rise above the surrounding savanna and support a forest that hosts diverse wildlife, including nearly 400 species of birds, as well as monkeys, giraffe, bushbuck and leopards.
Kilimanjaro National Park
Kilimanjaro National Park covers an area of 186 749 acres, protecting the largest free-standing volcanic mass in the world and the highest mountain in Africa, with its peak at 5 895 meters. The mountain is encircled by mountain forest. Numerous mammals, many of them endangered species, live in the park. Climbing Kilimanjaro is a lifelong dream for many, with an estimated 25 000 people attempting the climb each year. In the lower-lying areas such as the forest zone there are a multitude of birds, blue monkeys, colobus monkeys and olive baboons. Civets, leopards, mongooses, elephants and Abbott’s duikers also live in the mountain’s forest, but sightings are extremely rare. The alpine and arctic zones are too harsh for any animals to survive comfortably.
Dar es Salaam
Dar es Salaam, meaning “haven of peace” is Tanzania’s largest and busiest port city.
Loved amongst travelers for its seaside setting and eclectic vibe, Dar es Salaam bustles with fish markets, dhow boats, museums and striking architecture. Dar es Salaam is a diverse city with a mix of African, Arabic, and Indian cultures. Popular day trips include the beautiful Mbudya Island where you can bask on the island's white-sand beaches, snorkel, and swim in the turquoise waters. Bongoyo Island is a much-loved island getaway, lying off the Msasani Peninsula, about four miles north of the city. Located about six kilometers north of the city on the Msasani Peninsula, is the popular Coco Beach, where you can savor street food and listen to live music. The Oyster Bay Shopping Center here is a popular attraction, with farmers markets, art galleries, and boutique shops.
Lake Tanganyika
Lake Tanganyika is an African Great Lake and the second oldest freshwater lake in the world. Lake Tanganyika is home to Nile crocodiles, various turtle species, the Storms water cobra, and more than 80 species of non-cichlid fish of which about 60% of these are endemic. Most visitors choose to base themselves in the lovely lakeside town of Kigoma which serves as a gateway to the two rainforest reserves bordering the lake: Mahale Mountains National Park and Gombe Stream National Park, both of which offer unforgettable up-close chimpanzee encounters and an astonishing variety of birdlife.

Anja, our agent, was very kind and helpful all the time to organize the perfect trip. She did it quickly and efficiently. The amount of days we spent in every place was perfect to really enjoy the hotels and the different activities they proposed (in general the hotels are very nice but we don’t have the time to really experience the place but here we did). Also the selections of hotels was very very nice. Nice infrastructure, excellent service (very professional) and outstanding places to visit (all the parks were great). Tanzania is a world class safari destination
Boasting the iconic Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and the vast Selous Tanzania is a top safari holiday destination
Tanzania is a safari destination without equal, boasting the big names that have become synonymous with some of the best game viewing experiences on the continent. From the world-renowned plains of the Serengeti and the vast Ngorongoro Crater , to the dramatic slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and the wild Selous Reserve , tailor made Tanzania safari holidays are amongst the best in all of Africa.
Tanzania is East Africa's largest country and over a quarter of its surface area is taken up in national parks and game reserves which, collectively, are home to over 20% of Africa's large mammal population. During the great migration, Tanzania is also home to over a million migrating wildebeest and zebra - one of the most incredible wildlife spectacles on the planet.
Yet there is much more to a Tanzania luxury tour than just safaris. In the north the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, overlook the distant Lake Victoria, the second largest freshwater lake in the world. Over on the Indian Ocean coast, Zanzibar and its sister islands of Mafia and Pemba are the highlights of a Tanzania beach holiday, with pristine beaches, stunning diving and mysterious ruins to discover.
Holding the keys to Tanzania's treasure trove of natural riches are its ethnically diverse, relaxed and overwhelmingly friendly people. The country became independent from Britain in the early sixties to become the stable fully-fledged democracy it is today. The population of about 40 million live mostly in the highlands around Kilimanjaro and the coast.

January is mixed when it comes to weather, temperatures rise whilst the chance of rain and humidity increases. It is still a good time to go, as the rates are lower yet the game viewing is still excellent.
- During this time migratory herds are in the Serengeti for calving season, meaning the Ndutu plains are busy.
The weather remains hot with a chance of rain in February.
- Meanwhile in the Ndutu Plains the migration is still occurring.
March is the calm before the storm, before heavy rains and humidity builds. Visitors can take great advantage of lower rates during the low season.
- Migrating herds start to leave Ndutu, heading West towards Grumeti.
April experiences continued periods of heavy rain, we would advise against travel due to the conditions.
During may there is periods of heavy rain, we would advise against travel due to the conditions.
June heralds the wet season, bringing lush green vegetation which can make spotting game more difficult. It is a particularly great time for birders as parks become populated by migratory birds especially in the South.
- Migration is still in the Grumeti area, heading north.
July is the start of peak season, temperatures reach up to 30 degrees and the surrounding land becomes drier and spotting game is becoming easier.
- The migration is in the Northern Serengeti moving towards Kenya.
August is peak season, with bush land drying out game spotting becomes much easier. If you want to experience Tanzania game at its best, August is the time to travel.
- The migration still remains in the north.
Peak season continues in September, the Northern circuit can be very busy, if you want to avoid crowds it's best to visit the southern parks.
- The end of the migration is still in the north with herds on both side of the Kenyan and Tanzanian borders.
Peak season continues into October with good game viewing in the Serengeti and southern parks.
- The migration has now crossed over into Kenya.
November is the start of the rainy season, the rains tend to be overnight so it is still a popular time to travel. During this month you can take advantage of low season rates.
- Migration crossing over into the Serengeti can be seen a the Tanzania and Kenya border.
Rains continue in December, whilst the temperature and humidity start to build. Venturing out on safari is generally good, with large game still easily spotted.
- Migrating herds in the north travel south back to Ndutu.

7 Questions About Combined Kenya & Tanzania Safaris
Answered by
Anthony ham.
Why is Kenya and Tanzania an ideal combination?
“Kenya and Tanzania go very well together for a number of reasons. Partly it’s geography. An international border may separate southern Kenya from Tanzania’s north, but together they form one of the most prolific wildlife territories on earth. In Kenya’s south you have the Masai Mara, Amboseli and the two Tsavos. Not far away across the border is Tanzania’s Northern safari circuit of the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Lake Manyara, not to mention Africa’s highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. And both countries have stunning Indian Ocean beaches. Making it all so much easier is the regular schedule of commercial and charter flights that connect Nairobi (Kenya) and Arusha (Tanzania), or the airstrips in Kenya’s parks with those in Tanzania: it couldn’t be easier to get between the two. This allows you to pick and choose between some of Africa’s best parks and reserves, safe in the knowledge that there are many excellent safari tour operators ready to take you there.”
What can I expect from a trip to Kenya and Tanzania?
“On a Kenya and Tanzania safari, you can expect to see lots of wild animals against a backdrop of numerous beautiful landscapes. This is some of the richest wildlife terrain on the planet. Which wildlife you see will depend on where you decide to go, but commonly seen animals on both sides of the border include big cats, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, numerous antelope species and, in some cases, rhinos. Landscape highlights include some of Africa’s highest mountains (Kilimanjaro and Meru), the peerless Ngorongoro Crater, the vast savannah grasslands of the Masai Mara and Serengeti, and superb beaches. While on safari you can also expect to stay in or close to the national parks or reserves you visit, sleeping in lodges or in safari tents in tented camps. You’ll also have a guide who will show you around and help you to understand more about what you’re seeing.”
How much does a safari to Kenya and Tanzania cost?
“Safari tours to Kenya and Tanzania vary greatly when it comes to cost. As a very rough estimate, expect the cheapest budget camping safaris to start from around US$150 per person per day, while top-end luxury trips can cost US$500 per person per day or even much higher. There are a number of different variables to consider when calculating the cost of your safari. First, there’s the accommodation. If you’re staying in simple camping tents you can, of course, expect to pay significantly less than if you’re staying in five-star rooms or luxury safari tents. The season in which you’re traveling can also play a role: high-season prices can be double the prices you’ll pay in low season, or even more. Then there’s the type of safari you choose. If you go on a private safari (where you’ll have the guide, vehicle and other services all for yourself), you can expect to pay much more than if you travel on a group safari (where these services and their costs are shared). A third option is a self-drive safari, where you pay more for transport in return for having greater independence, although accommodation costs can vary, depending on whether you’re camping or staying in lodges or tented camps.”
What is the ideal holiday length for a trip to Kenya and Tanzania?
“There are as many different answers to this question as there are tours, trips and packages. The ideal length of your Kenya and Tanzania safari will depend on numerous factors. One of these is, of course, how much time and money you can dedicate to your holidays. Once you have decided this, you can begin to plan how long you devote to each country and each destination within those countries. A minimum to at least get a taste of what Tanzania and Kenya have to offer is two weeks. With two weeks you could spend a week in each country or divide it up differently depending on what you want to see. Flying between the two countries, and even between the various parks and reserves, may increase the cost of your safari, but it will cut down on traveling time and enable you to see more.”
What is the best time to visit Kenya and Tanzania?
“The best time to go on your Kenya and Tanzania safari is from June to October. This is the Dry season, which has two advantages. First, this is when you can generally expect clear skies and fine weather: rain is very unlikely to disrupt your safari. The second benefit is that these months are when the animals are easiest to see: as the landscape dries out, animals are drawn to the diminishing number of water sources, which makes them easier to see. If you’re a birder, you may want to consider going sometime between November (when millions of migratory birds arrive in East Africa) and April (when most of them return). If spending time at the beach is an important part of why you’re here, the Kenyan and Tanzanian coastlines are year-round destinations, although some rains are a little more likely from November to April or May. It’s certainly warm enough to enjoy the beach lifestyle all through the year.”
Which parks and reserves should I visit on a Kenya-Tanzania safari?
“There are so many choices when it comes to parks and reserves that choosing which ones to visit could be one of the most difficult things about planning your Kenya and Tanzania safari. In fact, you could go on several trips or holidays and still not even come close to seeing everything. In Kenya, the most rewarding safari destinations for both wildlife and landscapes are the Masai Mara and Samburu National Reserves, and Amboseli, Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Lake Nakuru National Parks. In Kenya far more than in Tanzania, it also pays to look beyond the national parks and reserves, especially around the Masai Mara where there are numerous community-run conservancies that allow far fewer tourists and permit night drives, off-road game drives and plenty of community engagement. In Tanzania, the main parks and conservation areas of the Northern safari circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire) are all exceptional wildlife destinations. You could visit any of these on their own and you would have an excellent safari, so to visit more than one would be a real treat. These northern parks work especially well if you’re also visiting Kenya. Out in Tanzania’s east, Gombe and Mahale Mountains National Parks are first-rate chimp tracking spots, while Mikumi, Ruaha and Nyerere (formerly Selous) National Parks in the south are also outstanding.”
Will I see the Big Five?
“You might see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) on your Kenya and Tanzania safari, but doing so requires careful planning. Few parks have all five but you could easily combine neighboring or nearby parks or reserves to make up the full complement. For example, there’s a good chance that you’ll see all five if you visit Ngorongoro and the Serengeti on the same trip, or Nairobi National Park and Amboseli. Both the Masai Mara and Serengeti have the Big Five within their boundaries, but in both cases, rhinos can be hard to see. Far more reliable is Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya’s north. It’s also worth remembering that the ‘Big Five’ was actually invented by hunters in early 20th-century Kenya. They chose these animals as the most dangerous big animals for them to hunt. Sightings of other species in Kenya and Tanzania can be just as thrilling, including cheetah, African wild dog, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and so many more.”

Zanzibar is a truly wonderful island that offers some of the finest tropical beaches within Africa. The name itself has captivated travellers imagination over the years and certainly lives up to expectations. Alongside the idyllic, crystal clear sea and vibrant reefs, excellent for diving, the island has a rich cultural and historical offering, particularly within the old Stone Town.
Zanzibar Safari Holidays
Zanzibar is very combinable with a safari in East Africa and tends to be an ideal beach bolt on to safaris in Tanzania and Kenya.
Zanzibar offers a real mix of accommodation choices with many of our favourites being the smaller boutique lodges offering a true Zanzibari experience. However, there are one or two resort-style hotels that offer a wider choice of activities and are often more suitable for families.
The archipelago’s turquoise seas are as stunning below as above the water line allowing for some magnificent diving. Manta rays, green turtles, hawksbill plus barracudas add to the array of colour with opportunities for wall dives nearer Pemba.
Zanzibar has seen a growth in visitor numbers in recent years but fortunately has remained relatively unspoiled or exploited. To really enjoy your time on the island it is important to find the right style and character of accommodation to suit you. The range is broad from large mainstream resorts to small exclusive hideaways; busy “backpackers” beach huts to private boutique guesthouses.
Click on the links in the right-hand margin for accommodation options or our favourite:
Luxury beach lodges are Matemwe Bungalows, Kilindi, Unguja Beach Lodge or Fumba Beach Lodge.
Lower cost beach guesthouses but still offering something special are Pongwe Beach, Kasha Boutique, Matemwe Beach, Shooting Star or Echo Beach.
Cool places to stay in Stone Town are Beyt Al Chai, 236 Hurumzi, Swahili House or Serena Inn.
Ultimate exclusivity at Mnemba Island.

Safari Overview
Midrange safari is wonderful tour that surpasses all tours in East Africa. This midrange safari comprises all activities that will let a client feel the real holiday and relax to make their minds and souls fresh. Amongst others, you will have game viewing in Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and Ngorongoro. This tour makes a complete East Africa holiday and leaves a client with a full detailed knowledge and experience of Tanzania tours
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
We will depart from Arusha in the morning and travel to the Tarangire National Park where you can marvel at the colossal termite mounds and the ancient baobab trees. This Park has the highest population density of elephants in Tanzania. Tarangire comprises of herds of up to 300 elephants that scratch the dry river bed for underground streams. There are also migratory wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, and elands. It’s a smorgasbord for predators and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed. After a whole day game drive, you will be transferred to TLOMA LODGE in the evening for dinner, a warm shower, and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
In the morning after breakfast, the driver/ guide will pack your picnic lunch boxes in a 4×4 safari jeep, then you will have less than 30 minutes to drive before you begin your exploration of this wonderful country to your destination of the day Lake Manyara. Although it is one of Tanzania’s small wildlife enclaves, Lake Manyara National Park is a spectacular reserve that boasts an incredible diversity of land. This is the area where bird lovers will enjoy the most, the lake is full of birds such as hundreds of pink flamingos and yellow-billed storks to mention a few flying here and there around the lake. Also, Lake Manyara is famous for a special variety of tree-climbing lions which is probably the only variety of lions that cannot be found elsewhere in Tanzania, but also a great concentration of baboons, blue monkeys, large buffalos, wildebeest, zebras, and giraffe. After the whole day game drive, you will be transferred to TLOMA LODGE for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
In the morning your driver/guide will transfer you to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. After registration descend to the crater for an enchanting game viewing. Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife arenas.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, some 25,000 large mammals wander the plains, lakes, and forests of ‘the land. During your game drive inside the crater, you will most likely see black rhinos, leopards, wonderful black-maned lions, and many flamingos. After the crater, you will be transferred to Arusha where you will have the option to overnight in Arusha or be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
