Boquete Tree Trek Mountain Resort
- Destinations
The Boquete Tree Trek Mountain Resort is set in the highlands above Boquete. The resort has log cabins that are rustic and comfortable, as well as its own onsite canopy tour. It’s a great place to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle of Boquete.
Boquete is set in Panama’s western highlands, an area composed of rugged mountains, fast-flowing rivers and thick forests. There is no shortage of things to do here, especially for adventurous and outdoorsy types. Visits can be made to the Barú Volcano National Park, which offers great hiking and bird watching opportunities, and white-water rafting can be had on the Río Chiriquí. There are also a number of coffee plantations where travelers can learn about the roasting process and enjoy a deliciously fresh cup of coffee.
The Boquete Tree Trek Mountain Resort blends natural immersion with comfortable amenities. If you’re in the market for a mountainous experience but don’t want to sacrifice comfort, this is the place for you.
The resort offers both rooms and cabins. All accommodations are wooden from ceiling to floor and provide a rustic environment for your stay. The beds are comfortable and spread with warm down comforters. The rooms are smaller and less private than the cabins, but have the ability to connect together, which is nice for families traveling with children. The cabins are larger and more secluded. A spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine that houses an additional room. There are outdoor patios equipped with tables and chairs, and many cabins have fantastic views of the valley.
One of the resort’s selling points is its onsite canopy tour. These tours aren’t as widespread in Panama as they are in countries like Costa Rica, so the novelty of having one on-hand is huge. The zip lines spread across 5.5 kilometers (3.5 mi) and include 12 cables and 14 platforms. During the ride, you’ll pass waterfalls and enjoy spectacular views of the Barú Volcano. The tour lasts four hours.
The onsite Crystal River Restaurant provides guests with a scenic place to dine. The restaurant serves everything from burgers to pasta to fresh trout, and has a continental breakfast that includes pancakes, tropical fruit, and fresh coffee. Diners can enjoy wonderful views of both the Barú Volcano and Boquete.
There is also a conference room that guests can rent for meetings, seminars or trainings. The room is spacious and well lit and can seat up to 50 people. It’s equipped with wireless Internet and a 51-inch LCD screen.
In addition to the canopy tour, the resort offers tours of a nearby coffee plantation. During the tour, participants will explore the plantation and learn about the varieties of coffee and the roasting processes. The whole tour lasts around three hours.
Boquete Tree Trek Facilities Restaurant, bar, canopy tour, conference room, shuttle service
Amenities Private bathroom, hot water, patio, desk, closet, wireless Internet
Accommodations All accommodations are equipped with a private hot water bathroom.
Rooms – there are four rooms that have a queen-size bed and six rooms with two queen-size beds. Some rooms can connect.
Cabins – these log cabins have two levels. A spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine with a second room. Three cabins have a queen-size bed and one cabin has a king-size bed and two single beds.
The food and one of our servers, Eric, were especially outstanding.
Never attended breakfast since we would take off very early in the morning all 4 days we were there, however the dinned in the restaurant was great. accomodation and location were awesome.

Boquete Tree Trek Mountain Resort
A rustic mountain lodge offering a good range of outdoor activities.
Boquete Tree Trek Mountain Resort is situated in a national park on a hillside surrounded by tightly packed woodland. It’s a bit of an effort to get there, as the winding access is steep in some places and unpaved, but its lofty location promises panoramic views over the surrounding landscape which do not disappoint.
The accommodation is in cosy wooden Alpine-style cabins which are dotted about the property. There are walking trails from the lodge, and while there are plenty of guided activities on offer in the local area, such as ziplining and horseriding, it is also a great place just to relax. All 13 of the rustic bedrooms have a balcony offering a river, mountain or courtyard view, intermittent Wifi, a TV and private bathroom.
What our clients say
Panama was far more interesting than what we thought it would be, particularly the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Bio Diversity Museum.
Most Memorable Moment?: Too hard to choose one. Panama Canal Transit was a lifelong ambition.
Top experiences in Panama - going through the canal and exploring Panama City and surrounding area. I was surprised to find that Panama is not just the Canal Zone!
"Bocas del Toro was great fun and frivolous and a great journey there by boat."
"Most memorable was watching mother and baby two-toed sloths from bedroom window at Canopy Tower. Early morning on the roof of Canopy Tower listening to howler monkeys as the sun…
Most memorable experience: “Tranquillo bay was a cut above everything else. Staying on Waidup (near Isla Tigre) was also special.”
Our Expert's Opinion
The incredible birdwatching, coffee tours and soft adventure activities the region is best known for are all offered by Boquete Tree Trek Mountain Resort in their 40-hectare private reserve so staying here was really convenient. The zipline guides were excellent and the gardens teemed with hummingbirds. We were even lucky enough to spot a Resplendent Quetzal from the restaurant veranda!

Boquete Tree Trek
Cloud forest • zip lining • adrenaline rush • 3 kms of cable.
- 11 cables
- Cloud Forest Zip Line
- All-inclusive package
- Adrenaline Rush
- Age: 9 and up
- Gateway: Boquete, Chiriqui
3 Km’s along the tree tops! - See the forest from the eye-view of the monkey and the Quetzal!- 100% safe!
In Boquete, Panama you can safely experience the thrill of a zip-line canopy tour that can be compared to the most famous in the world. BOQUETE TREE TREK: 3 kilometers in total length divided into 11 different zip-line cables. You will glide through the trees and encounter a world unknown… a fascinating perspective of life that you’d never believed existed.
Tarzan, 21st century ! Who would have thought that a technology utilized hundreds of years ago by our indigenous people and later perfected by botanists and naturalists to observe and study the behaviors of wild creatures in their natural habitat, would be transformed into one of the most revered extreme sports.
A harness, an ultra-resistant steel cable and gravity are the only elements necessary to suspend and propel the "fearless rider" in this incredible "adrenaline rush".
Security Measures: The equipment and the steel cables that you will use, have the capacity to resist many times the weight of a human, no matter what.
Glide through the treetops of century-old forests, high above the pristine rivers and waterfalls that make up the incredible collection of natural landscapes bordering the National Park La Amistad and the famous Baru Volcano.
This is a tour traversing a cloud forest of century-old trees and waterfalls where at anytime you may encounter fog and the gentle rain we call bajareque. The wildlife within the treetops is immense and varied making it possible to appreciate our native species of small animals and birds; with a bit of luck you may even get the chance to see monkeys and the famed quetzal. In addition, you can marvel at sight of the great variety of orchids and wildflowers that you will find throughout the area.
The harness will support 2,000 pounds (907 Kg) and the cable will support 10,000 pounds (4536 Kg).
For safety, we recommend maximun weight of:
250 pounds for gentlemen = 113.4 Kg. 170 pounds for Ladies = 77.2 Kg.
It might two daily departures: 8:00am to 12:30pm or 1:00pm to 5:00pm or both depending on time of the year. It starts at Plaza Los Establos, diagonal to Boquete main Park in downtown where we will ride in vehicles that will take up to the mountain.
Once in our quarters gear will be provided and safety measures explained to them take you to where it all start. Guides will escort the group in each set of cables.
The tour ends back where it started at Plaza Los Establos in Boquete Down Town.
