Home » Assassin's Creed Odyssey » Journey’s End Quest – Scytale Puzzle Solution – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Journey’s End is one of the side quests in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It’s the last step of the quest chain you start by talking to Phidias in Ellis. In order to complete it, you’ll have to solve a puzzle using the scytale you get from Phidias and open the door to the inner sanctum of the Ancient Stronghold. If you have trouble decyphering the hints, keep reading our AC Odyssey Journey’s End quest guide, and we’ll show you the scytale puzzle solution.

How to open puzzle door using Scytale?

Once you find Phidias’ body, you’ll also find the scytale – a piece of papyrus with some symbols drawn on it. Go to the Ancient Stronghold – it’s on the island of Lemnos, and you’ll have a map marker to lead you there. Once you reach the entrance to the inner sanctum, look at the walls of the antechamber. You’ll notice rows of pressure plates on both sides, with images drawn on them. Four of the images from the plates correspond to the ones on the scytale.

You’ll need to press them in this order: first on the left (two-headed spear), fourth on the left (head with animal skin), third on the right (beast head), second on the right (bird with spread wings). After you’ve pressed them in the correct order, you’ll get a quest objective update, and the doors will unlock. Open them to get to the chest with a legendary weapon inside.

Atlantean Blade legendary weapon

Once you open the chest, you’ll get the Atlantean Blade legendary weapon. It’s dagger that gives you +15% hunter damage, +25% critical hit damage and +30% armor penetration. It’s a pretty good piece of weaponry, and you can engrave it with one more perk, to make it better suit your needs.

A million thanks wouldn’t be enough. Thank you!

I am having the adventure of a Greek Gods Lifetime!! I played and stopped for about a year and now I can’t stop ?. I think I’m gonna be sad when I do finally finish. Thanks for all the great tips – I try and read as little as possible and only when I’m really stuck – getting all the answers makes as much sense as finding out who the murderer is before you read the book ?

I opened the chest and all I got was a ashen bow. Why didn’t I get the legendary sword.

I’ve obtained the scytale with those 4 symbols but when I press them in the correct order then go to the door, he says ” I haven’t crossed half the world to give up now.” What am I missing??

It was wery great. Thank you!

I can’t open the door. He said something that the door won’t open. Help me!

I never would’ve figured that out

I have killed everyone and the quest shows complete, yet I do not have the Scytale. The door and ability to even interact with symbols is not available to me. Where do I get the Scytale from?

After checking out those symbols on the three statues, and you return to Olympia, loot the Scytale off Phidias’ dead body.

How do I start the Journey’s End side quest? I’ve been trying to figure out how it begins but I’ve never gotten an icon on the map or a new quest notification.

It’s in Elis near the tombs of champion and omaneais it’s the artist you saved earlier in the game.

Did u check the body for the popyris. It’s on the body of the artist.

This quest is recommended for those level 47 and above, but it may differ according to your own level.

It starts automatically after a quest where you find Phidias dead.

Find the secret room

As you have obtained all hidden symbols, your only objective is to find the secret room and access it.

The exact location of the room is shown in the map below, marked as the quest symbol. It’s inside the Ancient Stronghold on Lemnos.

ac-odyssey-journeys-end

You should see a huge base filled with guards. You can access the place quietly and sneak in or just go ahead and kill the guards.

The secret room you are looking for is in the northwest corner of Lemnos, inside the Ancient Stronghold. You will have to solve a puzzle to get inside the room, using the Scytale you found off Phidias's body.

Simply press the buttons corresponding to the symbols on the Scytale in order from left to right. The order goes, if you are looking at it from the entrance:

  • The first button on the left.
  • The last button on the left.
  • The third one on the right.
  • The second one on the right.

If you pressed them in this order, the door on the opposite side of the room will unlock and you may enter. Loot the treasure inside to finish the quest.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Solve The End Puzzle Now!

Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Solve The End Puzzle Now!

Welcome to our ‘Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Solve The End Puzzle Now!’ guide, we will show you how you can solve the end puzzle from the Journey in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Side missions do exist inside the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The  Journey’s End begins in Ellis after speaking with Phidias. During the task, Phidias will give you the Scytale, allowing you visit the Ancient Stronghold and buy a weapon. To finish the quest and receive the weapon, you must solve a puzzle. It is one of the game’s easiest puzzles as the answer is within the Scytale and you can do it in about a minute. Here’s how to finish your Journey’s End secondary quest.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Solution for the End Puzzle

Following the acquisition of the Scytale, the next goal will be to travel to the “Ancient Stronghold” on the “Island of Lemnos”. Once you’ve arrived, enter the antechamber. As you progress, deal with any foes you encounter. Before approaching the puzzle chamber, you can also grab the “Anigmata Ostraka” tablet on the right.

After acquiring the tablet, enter the puzzle chamber to find four plates with patterns on them on either sides of the room. Four of the eight plates must be pressed in the precise order. As a result, the puzzle will be completed and the door ahead will be opened. The sequence that you will interact with the plates will be the same as in the Scytale. The first plate on the left wall is the 1st plate from the left, followed by the 4th plate from the left upon the left wall.

Then, on the right wall, engage with the 3rd plate from the right side on the right wall, followed by the 2nd plate from the right side upon the right wall. If you’re still not sure, look at the photographs and look at the numbers written on them. A

fter you’ve completed the problem, go to engage with the doorway, which will lead you to a tiny room which has a box in the centre. “The Atlantean Blade”, a knife with +15 percent Hunter Damage, 25 percent Crit Damage and 30 percent Armor Penetration, may be obtained by looting it. You can also add a good engraving to it to boost your stats.

Spot to Park

Joseph Gangi makes our eyes play tricks on us.

A woman lays on a park bench on a sunny day.

By Sam Corbin

Jump to: Today’s Theme | Tricky Clues

WEDNESDAY PUZZLE — A cognitive phenomenon known as frequency illusion, also called the Baader-Meinhof effect , describes that feeling you get after encountering something once and then seeming to notice it everywhere. This phenomenon came to mind as I was solving Joseph Gangi’s crossword, which happens to use a theme style I just wrote about (click at your own puzzle-spoiling risk) only two weeks ago.

This is Mr. Gangi’s third puzzle for The New York Times, and one might refer to its theme as a frequency illusion, in the sense that once the grid is complete, we realize how infrequently a certain bit of language was inside of it.

Today’s Theme

The revealer for Mr. Gangi’s puzzle is tucked at the bottom of the southeast corner, occupying the last Across clue. A “Feature of 20-Across” is, “when sounded out, a feature of today’s puzzle” (73A), clues included. (Say that three times fast.) There’s nothing obviously out of the ordinary — nothing glaring, one might say — and for me it was only when the Greek mythology in the grid came together that everything snapped into place.

POLYPHEMUS (20A) is the “Cave dweller of Greek myth” in Homer’s ODYSSEY (41A). He is also called THE CYCLOPS (60A). A “Classic feature” of this character is his ONE EYE (73A). And now, even with only ONE EYE open — I hope you can see where this is going — the entire grid and clue set features only one “I.” That’s in the circle at the top of 18-Across, and it’s fittingly centered in the upper part of the grid, just like the eye in POLYPHEMUS’s head.

Tricky Clues

18A. The nature of this “Cry after a poke” is ambiguous — “That hurt!” or “I’m awake!” both fit in our squares, for instance. This grid’s answer is I CAN’T SEE, and presumably the poker is the one who needs a better sightline. (N.B.: Please do not poke a stranger. May I recommend a gentle tap?)

70A. You may be tempted to think “Wrap for a monarch?” is a reference to royalty, but a question mark at the end of the clue should always redirect your instincts to the less obvious, or almost too obvious to be correct, answer. This “monarch” is a butterfly, and the entry is COCOON.

71A. Abbreviations abound in “D.C.’s B and A: Abbr,” but don’t get lost in them! This clue is asking for an abbreviation for Washington, D.C.’s alphabetically lettered streets. The answer is STS.

5D. At first glance, “Beth preceder” looks as if “Beth” refers to the end of a name, in which case the answer might be “Eliza.” That’s a convenient bit of misdirection. “Beth” stands on its own as the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet. (It is also sometimes spelled “bet.”) The letter that precedes it is ALEPH .

27D. To “Eschew the pews, say” is to ELOPE, using “pews” as a metonym for the marriage altar.

61D. Mind the comma in “An OK place to be naked, once.” This clue is referring to a past time with “once,” and that place was EDEN. Now that I’ve brought it up, though, I can’t think of a single instance in which it is “OK to be naked once.”

66D. “Lead regulator, for short” offers a two-pronged challenge: We may stumble over either the search for an abbreviation or the pronunciation of “lead,” which here refers to the element, and not to a leading figure. The answer is E.P.A.

Constructor Notes

I really wanted to make the “one I” gimmick part of the solving experience, so the first submission of this puzzle had the lone “I” in an unchecked square surrounded with black squares (giving a visual representation of an eye). This required solvers to figure out, through the revealer, that there is only one “I” in the puzzle. Then, observing no “I” yet in the grid (or clues), for them to confidently place an “I” in the unchecked square. Yeah, maybe a little too ambitious. Going back to basics (and proper crossword convention), I settled with circling the “I” and making the crossings related to the theme in a silly way, as both words recount what happened to poor Cy. I also kept the letter “I” out of the clues; it was no longer necessary, but I thought it gave the puzzle a nice added touch without really sacrificing anything. My favorite edit in the final version is the clue change in 21-down to be a shout-out to Homer — fantastic!

Le Corbusier’s triumphant return to Moscow

journey's end odyssey puzzle

The exhibition of French prominent architect Le Corbusier, held in The Pushkin Museum, brings together the different facets of his talent. Source: ITAR-TASS / Stanislav Krasilnikov

The largest Le Corbusier exhibition in a quarter of a century celebrates the modernist architect’s life and his connection with the city.

Given his affinity with Moscow, it is perhaps surprising that the city had never hosted a major examination of Le Corbusier’s work until now. However, the Pushkin Museum and the Le Corbusier Fund have redressed that discrepancy with the comprehensive exhibition “Secrets of Creation: Between Art and Architecture,” which runs until November 18.

Presenting over 400 exhibits, the exhibition charts Le Corbusier’s development from the young man eagerly sketching buildings on a trip around Europe, to his later years as a prolific and influential architect.

The exhibition brings together the different facets of his talent, showing his publications, artwork and furniture design alongside photographs, models and blueprints of his buildings.

Irina Antonova, director of the Pushkin Museum, said, “It was important for us to also exhibit his art. People know Le Corbusier the architect, but what is less well know is that he was also an artist. Seeing his art and architecture together gives us an insight into his mind and his thought-processes.”

What becomes obvious to visitors of the exhibition is that Le Corbusier was a man driven by a single-minded vision of how form and lines should interact, a vision he was able to express across multiple genres.

The upper wings of the Pushkin Museum are separated by the central stairs and two long balconies. The organizers have exploited this space, allowing comparison of Le Corbusier’s different art forms. On one side there are large paintings in the Purist style he adapted from Cubism, while on the other wall there are panoramic photographs of his famous buildings.

Le Corbusier was a theorist, producing many pamphlets and manifestos which outlined his view that rigorous urban planning could make society more productive and raise the average standard of living.

It was his affinity with constructivism, and its accompanying vision of the way architecture could shape society, which drew him to visit the Soviet Union, where, as he saw it, there existed a “nation that is being organized in accordance with its new spirit.”

The exhibition’s curator Jean-Louis Cohen explains that Le Corbusier saw Moscow as “somewhere he could experiment.” Indeed, when the architect was commissioned to construct the famous Tsentrosoyuz Building, he responded by producing a plan for the entire city, based on his concept of geometric symmetry.

Falling foul of the political climate

He had misread the Soviet appetite for experimentation, and as Cohen relates in his book Le Corbusier, 1887-1965, drew stinging attacks from the likes of El Lissitsky, who called his design “a city on paper, extraneous to living nature, located in a desert through which not even a river must be allowed to pass (since a curve would contradict the style).”

Not to be deterred, Le Corbusier returned to Moscow in 1932 and entered the famous Palace of the Soviets competition, a skyscraper that was planned to be the tallest building in the world.

This time he fell foul of the changing political climate, as Stalin’s growing suspicion of the avant-garde led to the endorsement of neo-classical designs for the construction, which was ultimately never built due to the Second World War.

Situated opposite the proposed site for the Palace of the Soviets, the exhibition offers a tantalizing vision of what might have been, presenting scale models alongside Le Corbusier’s plans, and generating the feeling of an un-built masterpiece.

Despite Le Corbusier’s fluctuating fortunes in Soviet society, there was one architect who never wavered in his support . Constructivist luminary Alexander Vesnin declared that the Tsentrosoyuz building was the "the best building to arise in Moscow for over a century.”

The exhibition sheds light on their professional and personal relationship, showing sketches and letters they exchanged. In a radical break from the abstract nature of most of Le Corbusier’s art, this corner of the exhibition highlights the sometimes volatile architect’s softer side, as shown through nude sketches and classical still-life paintings he sent to Vesnin.

“He was a complex person” says Cohen. “It’s important to show his difficult elements; his connections with the USSR, with Mussolini. Now that relations between Russia and the West have improved, we can examine this. At the moment there is a new season in Le Corbusier interpretation.” To this end, the exhibition includes articles that have never previously been published in Russia, as well as Le Corbusier’s own literature.

Completing Le Corbusier’s triumphant return to Russia is a preview of a forthcoming statue, to be erected outside the Tsentrosoyuz building. Even if she couldn’t quite accept his vision of a planned city, Moscow is certainly welcoming him back.
