Don’t miss this awesome opportunity for fun! Our guides were fantastic and the trip a blast. You tube through a plantation in irrigation tunnels and canals that were hand dug in the late 1800’s. It was loads of fun, interesting and worth the trip. A great way to spend a few hours! Don’t wonder, just do this adventure.

My husband and I joined Johnny and his team (sorry I don't remember everyone's names) for a tubing ride. The drive up, the tubing itself, and then the ride back was amazing. Johnny was so nice and such a people person! It was amazing and the views are to die for, oh and the water is very refreshing! I HIGHLY recommend!

Excellent tour from beginning to end. Right from the booking to the actual excursion. First time in Kauai and will return just for this tour so fun and worth it!!!! A must in Kauai....

So much fun and would highly recommend it. It was our first time to Kauai and this excursion along with our guides who were extremely funny, left a memorable impression with our family. My son is 6 years old and absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back this year. There aren't words to express how everyone was so nice and helpful there. We have recommended this to everyone!!! Life changer!

A unique and fun experience, for sure! Our hosts guided us all the way, complete with ukelele accompaniment, as we floated the canal through hillside and tunnels. Lots of tunnels. Great fun all the way!

Going underneath the tunnels and learning a little bit of history while you're on the tour. I highly suggest you have a GoPro or an underwater camera with you to get your own pictures. They take your pictures professionally too but have to purchase them thru the kiosk there. Guides are great. I highly suggest this activity for any local or tourist.

As a fellow guide on the island, I highly recommend the tubing ride to all visitors! Great experience from check in to the entire adventure. All the staff and guides were amazing and entertaining. Mahalo for such a great adventure and keep up the good work.

The guides were awesome, funny and very knowledgeable of the island. The actual tubing adventure was like nothing we have ever experienced. It was non stop fun the entire time and gives you a glimpse of the island you wouldn't see other wise. We would hands down recommend this tour!!

We made the decision to fly over from Honolulu for the day and do the Tubing. It was a great day out, the staff was friendly and very helpful. From the preparation time at base, the bus ride up the mountain, the tubing adventure and lunch, the staff kept us in fits of laughter and relaxed all day. This experience was better than I was expecting and became the highlight of our holiday. Thanks, Guys!

This is our first Zipline experience. Both my wife and myself enjoyed it very much. It is the highlight of our trip so far. Drake and Kevin did a good job keeping us alive and excited. Highly recommended!

WHAT TO BRING

  • Chevron down Hats

Our helmets allow you to wear your own hats. Ball caps are best, we don’t recommend cowboy hats or sombreros. Of course we have a great selection of ball caps in our store for purchase.

  • Chevron down Shirts

We use full body harnesses and we have heard from some guests that tank tops are uncomfortable to due to chaffing…your choice. We also have a great selection of t-shirts for sale in the store.

  • Chevron down Shorts/Pants

This is serious, ladies. Short shorts have the same “chaffing” effect as tank tops. We recommend longer shorts, pants, or yoga pants. Gentlemen, those thin lightweight basketball/athletic shorts tend to creep up, making it….ummm…awkward. We recommend more sturdy shorts.

  • Chevron down Footwear

Closed toed shoes are just that, your toes must be covered. We recommend tennis shoes or hiking boots. Water socks/reef shoes are fine, and we have a nice selection to choose from in our store.

  • Chevron down Sunscreen

Our tour goes through the jungle and above the forest. The second part of the tour you will be in direct sunlight. We recommend your favorite sunscreen on sunny days.

  • Chevron down Sunglasses

We allow sunglasses on tour, just make sure they fit securely. We sell polarized shades in our store as well as those nifty sunglasses cords to hang them from your neck.

  • Chevron down Cameras

You are welcome to bring your own camera. Just remember to tie it down and that we are not responsible for items lost on the tour.

  • Chevron down Bug Spray

Yes, we have mosquitos. They typically come out more during cloudy overcast days or after it rains. With Kauai’s unpredictable weather, we recommend bringing bug spray. And guess what? If you don’t have any, we have some to choose from for purchase in our store.

TOP-RATED OUTDOOR ACTIVITY IN KOLOA ON TRIPADVISOR!

logo, company name

I have been on numerous Zip Lines in Costa Rica, Mexico, and Oahu. This one on Kauai was the very BEST!

We had an awesome time! The guides were friendly, organized, and seemed quite experienced. We felt very safe. The zip lines were so much fun and we had great views flying through the trees. We can definitely recommend.

We had a great time, 3 teens and parents, our guides were fun, outgoing, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend this zip line

My sister and I had more fun on these zips than we could have imagined! It was scary at first but then we learned to trust the harness and the wonderful guides James and Janelle, who were knowledgeable, safe, and funny! ! Hope to be back again. 🤙

My son Riley (age 11) and I had a wonderful experience zipping along the 8 ziplines. The views and lines were great, but the care shown by guides Judah and Chad made all the difference. They were extremely careful and thorough in their safety checks, which made the tour all the more relaxing and fun. We’ll be back!!

Probably my favorite zip line tour ever. Great guides, beautiful scenery, fun glide positions and super safe. Highly recommended to anyone! Even the experienced zipliners will enjoy it.

We had an amazing time ziplining with a group of 2 adults, 2 teens and one kiddo - Kai and Koa were amazing with my niece and encouraging her daredevil spirit!

I have now tried 3 different zipline companies on Kauai. This one is my favorite by far! The terrain is diverse. More zips through the tree canopy. The stunt line was awesome. How many times in your life will you be able to hang upside down going 30+ miles per hour?...Again, it was awesome. Our guides, Obi and Kai were great! I guess the third time really is the charm.

From the start, everything was just perfect. At first the money felt like a little more than I wanted to spend, but once we got there and started the experience, it was worth every penny. I had been looking forward to the upside down experience and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating, I would highly recommend this experience.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL KULEANA (RESPONSIBILITY)

Kauai is steeped in legends and folklore handed down from generation to generation through spoken stories. One such legend is the romantic story of Ohia and Lehua. Today, the Ohia Lehua (Metrosideros Polymorpha) is facing a real-life tragedy as described below. At Shaka Zipline our mission is to connect a safe, exciting adventure that informs and educates our guests on Kauai’s history and culture through minimal environmental impact and contribute to the preservation of Kauai’s fragile resources.

a pink flower on a plant

The Legend of Ohia

There was once a man named Ohia. He was strong and tall and it was said that the Pele, the goddess of volanoes, had a crush on him. Sadly for Pele, his heart belonged to another woman named Lehua. And Lehua returned his love. One day, Pele was walking in a forest and came across Ohia. She tried to catch his attention, but he was oblivious to her efforts. Ohia could only see Lehua as he was walking and happiness struck his face. Pele grew so angry that she could not have Ohia. She struck him and turned him into a twisted ugly tree in revenge of rejecting her. Lehua looked at her love in tears, begging Pele to return him to her or to turn her into a tree as she couldn’t bear to be separated from him. Pele refused to grant Lehua her wishes, but the other Hawaiian gods were angry with what they saw. They decided to reach down to Lehua and turn her into a beautiful red flower. They placed it upon the twisted ohia tree so she could remain one with Ohia.

Legend has it that whenever a flower is plucked from the tree, heavy rain falls upon the land like tears. Lehua still cannot bear to be separated from her beloved Ohia.

a close up of a plant

The Ohia Lehua Tree

Ohia trees are endemic to Hawaii. They are found in almost all Hawaiian ecosystems, both wet and dry, ranging from lowland dry shrublands and rainforests to dry lava flows and high elevation bogs. Ohia was used by early Hawaiians to create weapons, everyday tools, and medicinal teas. Leaves of this tree sustained populations of native birds, such as the apapane and the mamo, whose vibrant feathers were used in traditional Hawaiian clothing and ceremonial adornments. Today, Ohia blossoms continue to be used in cultural ceremonies and practices, such as lei and hula, though many hula practitioners have begun forgoing the use of Ohia to prevent the spread of Rapid Ohia Death (ROD) and protect this culturally significant tree species. Adapted to the variable and sometimes harsh weather conditions of the Hawaiian islands, Ohia play a key role in watershed protection and water conservation by retaining water following storm events and preventing subsequent erosion and flooding.

a close up of a flower

Rapid Ohia Death

Unfortunately, in 2014 Rapid Ohia Death (ROD) was discovered. It is a fungus (Ceratocystis fimbriate) that attacks and quickly kills Ohia trees. On Hawaii thousands of Ohia trees have already been killed by ROD. As researchers believe this fungus can spread over long distances, ROD has the potential to kill Ohia trees across the entire state. 2018 saw the first case of ROD on the Garden Isle of Kauai .

How can we stop the spread?

By properly cleaning shoes before entering the course, and upon exiting, we can make sure we aren’t spreading infected seeds, leaves or debris. Shoe cleaning stations include dry scrubbing as well as a rubbing alcohol spray on the soles of your shoes. Sadly, ROD has spread to locations on Kaua’i. Please be sure to use shoe cleaning stations on our course, and any other locations on the Garden Isle where provided. YOU can stop the spread.

"First time zip-lining, and it was incredible! Jen and Crystal were fantastic guides, very fun, energetic, and knowledgeable. You can't beat the views either! A group of us went, and a few had been zip-lining before (in CA and UT) and said this was the best experience by far."

"Our zipline guides were great; knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful with making us feel confident and comfortable as well as sharing extra stuff for those wanting more. It was such a fun time. Breathtaking scenery."

"It was our first time zip lining. We did the 8 line tour. Definitely worth the extra 3 lines. I was worried about hiking, but very little hiking has to be done. Our guides were great and we learned a lot about the culture as well. Cody was very personable. Definitely would do it again!"

"Eddie and Jared did an amazing job! They made the experience so much fun with jokes and laughter! I would definitely recommend using this company and these guides!"

"This is our second time ziplining in HI and it was a great experience! This is, hands down, our favorite family adventure! Our guides, Jenn and Lowen, were both fun and safety and enjoyment were their number one priority! The views were spectacular! We'd love to try the 8 line zip next time!"

My son and I had never been ziplining before and this was just amazing! Our guides were so nice, funny, and helpful. We could not have been in better hands. Truly an experience I want to go back and do again.

We had so much fun! Jen and Crystal were personable, fun and literally do all the work for you. This was my first zip line experience and I was a little nervous but they took such good care of us and I felt a hundred percent safe the entire time. Not only is the experience super fun but the views are breathtaking. I can’t recommend this spot and crew more :) if you’re thinking about booking it, do it! And make sure you book for the full 8 lines!

Excellent service and experience. This was my 1st zipline and I would highly recommend it. I definitely will do this again when I find myself back on Kauai. Both the young ladies that took us out made it fun and memorable.

A quick 10 minute drive from their office brings you to the zipline spot. Their pre and post zip line process is smooth and requires little prep. The team is great and ensured they kept the activity fun and interesting. We did the 5 line Zipline and as we got comfortable, they introduced new tricks (running start, trust fall, zig zag). Overall a great and memorable experience.

kauai zip line bike tour

Overall rating

Although the entire activity takes about 1.75-2 hours (including check in and some transportation), you really only get to ride on the bike for 5 minutes depending on how fast you ride because the zipline is not very lon ... g. A lot of other time is just spent waiting while others are doing the zipbike. There are other activities to keep you busy (water bike, kayak, fishing), but since we signed up for zipbike, it was a little disappointing that we only got one short ride over and back that was over in 10 minutes (with half of that time being spent just turning the bikes around). It would be nice if we were given 20-30 minutes total (split between the different groups who are in the same reservation) to ride the bikes back and forth as many times as we wanted/at whatever speed we wanted. The jump down from the platform was fun and other people seemed to have gotten the opportunity to jump down more than once. I wish we had asked to do that as well. According to the staff, they've only had the zipbike open for about a month (due to COVID delay). I hope they're able to work out a few more kinks and give a few more opportunities for guests.

For one, the zipline gear can be set up for you to fly headfirst (or regular) on most lines. It's absolutely thrilling to go headfirst! There is also a cool tandem option where two people can go at the same time as long as they combined, don't exceed the weight limit. This works great for little kids who are old enough to zip but may not weight enough to go.

  • Duration: 3 Hours
  • Restrictions: Minimum age: 7 - Weight limit 280Ibs. No pregnancies.
  • Tandem (two person) riding possible as long as both people weight less than 280Ibs combined
  • Zipline headfirst (optional) on 6 of the 8 lines.

Bicycling on Kauai Guide

Bicycling on Kauai Guide

There are a number of bicycling opportunities on the beautiful island of Kauai, as well as some limitations.

At first glance, Kauai would seem to be the perfect place for a bicycle road trip. A single highway basically rings the island except for a section of the island’s rugged Na Pali Coast. However, the highway which has only two lanes in many sections is generally not bicycle friendly. Heavy traffic and narrow shoulders (or almost no shoulders) make bicycle trips problematic and dangerous.

Despite the drawbacks, more than a few bicyclists successfully make bicycle road trips on Kauai. Many bicycle the parts that are more advantageous, then use the public bus system to bypass problematic areas. Problematic areas include Hanalei Hill, the steep hill between Princeville and Hanalei.

Here are some good places to go bicycling on Kauai, whether you’re looking to ride in the town or mountain bike or visiting Kauai as a cruise ship passenger.

Kapaa Bike Path

Kapaa Bike Path

The most popular bicycling activity on Kauai is the Kapaa Bike Path on the island’s eastern side near Kealia Beach.

Kapaa Bike Path

Officially known as Ke Ala Hele Makalae and the Kauai Multiuse Path, the path is a scenic, paved path that follows the coastline from South Kapaa to a cove beyond Donkey Beach. A walk or ride on the path is a relaxing way to see and experience Kauai’s beautiful Coconut Coast.

kauai zip line bike tour

The Kapaa Bike Path is approximately 4.5 miles long. There is another section of the bike path that leads from Lydgate Park to Wailua Beach Park which is about 2.5 miles long. There are plans to eventually extend the path all the way from Nawiliwili to Anahola.

Bicycle Kapaa

In addition to the bike path, the town of Kapaa itself is a nice place to ride a bike locally. Overall, bicycling in Kapaa is easy and enjoyable and there are several bicycle rental places in Kapaa to rent bikes.

Kapaa Bike Path

Waimea Canyon

Bicyclists may find more success on the road in Kauai’s less-traveled western region (Hanapepe, Kekaha, and Waimea Town areas).

Bicycle Kauai

The steep roads to Waimea Canyon present a special challenge for bicyclists. A bicycle trip up the roadway here is a grueling challenge that few undertake. It’s better to be dropped off at the top and bicycle down, but good brakes are a must. There are a few bicycle tour companies that offer tours from the top down at Waimea Canyon.

For those intrepid and fit individuals who seek a challenge, Waimea Canyon does present a unique opportunity. The ride from Kekaha (at the bottom) to the very top (Kalalau Lookout) involves a trip of about 19 miles with a 4,200 foot elevation gain!

Every May there is a race called Pedal to the Meadow (P2M) – “the bicycle hill race on Kauai” – where competitors cycle from sea level at Kekaha up to Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow in Kokee State Park.

kauai zip line bike tour

We’ve already mentioned Kapaa as a good town for bicycling. In addition to Kapaa, several other towns present nice opportunities for bicycling.

The sunny town of Poipu is a nice place to bicycle. In Poipu, bicycling is not only an enjoyable experience along the coast, but it can be a practical method for getting around town.

Hanalei, on Kauai’s North Shore is another nice place for a bicycle ride, especially around town and to the Hanalei Pier. Bicycles can be rented at several places in Hanalei, including at Pedal ‘N Paddle at the Ching Young Village Shopping Center. Also in the area, the resort community of Princeville is a relaxing place to ride a bike.

The highway from Hanalei to the end of the road at Haena is one of the most beautiful rides in the world. But narrow shoulders and heavy traffic during the day make bicycling this beautiful section difficult. However, some bicyclists find better conditions in the early morning before the heavy traffic.

In the evening hours, after the traffic subsides around 4-5PM, the far North Shore area around the town of Wainiha comes alive with local bicyclists who make their way to and from beaches (including Tunnels Beach) and to places such as the Wainiha General Store.

Local kids like to ride their bicycles in this area, so watch out if you’re driving through.

Kalepa Ridge Mountain Bike Trail

Mountain biking on Kauai depends a lot on the weather and trail conditions. Frequent rains contribute to sticky, muddy trails that are often impossible to ride.

Kauai has a variety of mountain bike trails scattered throughout the island. Notable mountain bike locations on Kauai include the Kalepa Ridge Mountain Bike Trail near Lihue and various trails off the Powerline Trail on the Princeville side of the trail.

The Kalepa Ridge Mountain Bike Trail (MTB) shares the same name as the famous trail (Kalepa Ridge Trail) that starts at the Kalalau Lookout , but the MTB trail is located on the opposite side of the island in the hills between Hanamaulu (Lihue) and Wailua.

The area can be seen in this Google map of the Kalepa Mountain Forest Reserve area. Several miles of mountain bike and hiking trails can be found here. See this video for more information about the area. The trails can be best accessed from the back of the Hanamaulu neighborhood.

Powerline Trail

Volunteers, working together with the Bike Doktor in Hanalei, have created several miles of mountain bike trails in the vicinity of the Powerline Trail on the Princeville side. Use caution in this area. It’s easy to get lost in the myriad of trails, and there are some precipitous drops to watch out for. See the Bike Doktor for details about these trails.

Loop Road Mountain Biking

Another location we have identified as a mountain biking opportunity on Kauai is Loop Road between the Keahua Arboretum and the weir stone dam at the end of the road. This is a maintained dirt road, but due to heavy and constant precipitation in this area, the road is often in poor condition.

Though the road is problematic for vehicles (except for locally modified off-road vehicles), the road presents an opportunity to ride in a jungle setting. Bring rain gear along for the ride and don’t attempt to cross any streams during heavy flows.

One other area we would like to mention for mountain biking are the dirt roads in the Mahaulepu area near Poipu, the Old Sugar Mill east of Koloa and the Waita Reservoir . Many of these roads are on the private property of Grove Farm. Though Grove Farm provides a fair amount of latitude for visitors to the area, we do not recommend riding on roads that are marked closed with a gate.

Kauai Zip Line Bike Tour

Kauai Zip Bike Tour

For a unique bicycle experience, the Kauai ZipBike allows participants to ride a bicycle on a zipline 700 feet across water (the Waita Reservoir) to a platform, then turn around and ride another 700 feet back to the launching platform.

For cruise ship passengers debarking at Nawiliwili Harbor, there are few bicycling options. This area, which includes Kalapaki Beach, is somewhat enclosed and not expansive enough for bicycle rides. At one time, a company offered bike tours to the Menehune Pond area, but that initiative caused traffic problems and local resentment and the initiative was ended.

Kipu Zipline Safari Tour

Quick Details

  • User Ages: Ages 3+

Paddle. Ride. Zipline. Do it ALL on our Zipline Safari in Kauai!

Start your adventure with an easy two-mile paddle on the scenic Hule’ia River while being serenaded by tropical birds. Your expert guides will help you get suited up in zipline harnesses for major fun zipline rides . Waterzip , a great picnic lunch, a half mile hike back to the river, and a kick-back cruise on our motorized canoe round out this fabulous adventure in some of the most beautiful backdrops to be found anywhere.

What you need to know

  • To zipline, passengers must be at least 7 years old and weigh between 60lbs and 275lbs. Guests who don’t meet those guidelines are welcome to take the tour and skip the ziplining.
  • If you are pregnant or have back, neck, or muscular problems, you should carefully consider whether to zipline.
  • Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Chevron down Rates

• $255– Adults + tax • $245– Children 3-17 + tax (Guide gratuity not included)

  • Chevron down Check-in

  • Chevron down What to wear and bring

We recommend you bring a swimsuit, shorts, t shirt, windbreaker or light rain coat, and footwear with tread for muddy conditions. 6 short walks link up the locations, so be ready for about a mile of hiking in total.  A sport type sandal with heel straps or aqua socks with tread work great. And don’t forget a hat, sunscreen, bug spray and a mask or face covering.

  • Chevron down Health and Safety

At Outfitters Kauai, health & safety are our top concerns. In order to reduce the spread of Covid-19, we have instituted enhanced cleaning and disinfection of gear and facilities, reduced our tour capacities, and changed procedures to allow for social distancing.

The Ultimate Guide to Biking on Kauai

The Ultimate Guide to Biking on Kauai

In Adventure , Things To Do: Makana Charters Blog by Makana Charters May 21, 2022 Leave a Comment

How often have you looked at Kauai’s landscape and wished you could bike through it? If you’re thinking about bringing your bike along on your next trip to the Garden Island, you should know some essential things before hopping on and starting.

In this ultimate guide to biking on Kauai , you will learn everything from the best places to bike and some safety tips when riding. You would not want to miss out on this one!

6 Famous Bike Trails in Kauai

1. kapaa bike trail.

The Kapaa Bike Path (also known as Ke Ala Hele Makalae and the Kauai Multiuse Path) is a picturesque, paved path that runs from South Kapaa to a cove beyond Donkey Beach on the island of Kauai. Seeing and experiencing Kauai’s lovely “ Coconut Coast ” while walking or riding on the trail is pleasant.

The trail is available to the public and has multiple entry and exit locations. The path is open to walkers, runners, cyclists, leashed dogs, and strollers. Motorized vehicles such as Segways and electric bikes are not permitted, while motorized carts for the disabled are allowed.

The Kapaa Bike Path stretches for around 4.5 kilometers. Another 2.5-mile piece of bike route connects Lydgate Park and Wailua Beach Park. There are plans to extend the path from Nawiliwili to Anahola in the future.

2. Koloa Heritage Trail

Kapaa is a good town for riding in general. Poipu is a fantastic place to bike. Bicycling along the shore is entertaining, but it may also be a practical mode of transportation.

The Koloa Heritage Trail is located in Poipu. Your voyage will take you through 5 million years of exploration, emphasizing the Koloa District of Kauai’s natural heritage, archaeology, culture, and history.

The Koloa Heritage Trail is a 10-mile walk, bike ride, or drive containing 14 stops and monuments explaining the area’s history.

3. The Kalepa Ridge Mountain Bike Trail

The weather and terrain conditions on Kauai significantly impact mountain riding. Rainy seasons result in slick, muddy trails that are nearly difficult to ride.

The Kalepa Ridge Mountain Bike Path (MTB) has the same name as the famous trail (Kalepa Ridge Trail). Still, it is located on the opposite side of the island in the hills between Hanamaulu (Lihue) and Wailua. There are several miles of mountain biking and hiking routes here. The trails are easy to access from the Hanamaulu neighborhood’s backside.

4. Loop Road

Another mountain biking path on Kauai is Loop Road. It’s halfway between the Keahua Arboretum and the end-of-the-road weir stone dam. This bike trail is a well-maintained dirt road. However, it is frequently in bad shape due to the area’s heavy and persistent precipitation.

Even though the road is difficult for cars (save for locally modified off-road vehicles), it provides an opportunity to ride through the bush. Bring rain gear, and don’t attempt to cross any streams during high water levels.

On Kauai’s North Shore, Hanalei is also an excellent area for a bike ride, particularly around town and to the Hanalei Pier. Bicycles may be rented at Pedal’ N Paddle in the Ching Young Village Shopping Center, among other sites in Hanalei.

One of the most magnificent rides in the world is from Hanalei to Haena, where the road ends. However, tight shoulders and high traffic make pedaling this lovely portion challenging throughout the day. However, some bicyclists prefer to ride in the early morning before the rush hour.

6. Kauai Zip Line Bike Tour

If you are up for an adventure and want to try something new, you need to try the Kauai ZipBike. They allow participants to ride a bicycle 700 feet across the water (the Waita Reservoir) to a platform, then spin around and ride another 700 feet back to the launching platform for a unique biking experience.

Safety Tips When Riding

Riding your bike in the sunshine and open-air is a fantastic way to explore the natural beauty of Kauai. But, it’s essential to exercise caution when biking in Hawaii. Bicyclists must follow all road rules and regulations just like motorized vehicles, so drivers know where they are.

The first step to riding safely is remembering that depending on the road is for everyone’s safety: drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians alike—not just bicyclists.

The following tips will help keep you safe and ensure motorists know what to expect from bikers sharing the road with them.

The most common causes of bicycle accidents include distracted driving, speeding, drunk driving, and poor weather conditions. If you see any one of these factors while on the road or highway, be extra cautious because they could cause an accident during your ride. The following are the rules for riding a bike in Hawaii:

  • Bicyclists must follow all motor vehicle traffic laws.
  • When riding between sunset and daybreak, a bicycle must have a light on the front of the bike and a red reflector on the rear.
  • When turning left or right, bicyclists must use hand signals to let vehicles know what they intend to do next.
  • A biker must ride no more than two abreast of another bicyclist and must not obstruct normal and reasonable traffic flow.
  • Any package, bundle, or other objects that prevent bicyclists from keeping at least one hand on the handlebars is prohibited.
  • A bicyclist cycling on a roadway may not ride more than two abreast, except on pathways or portions of roads designated for bicycle usage only.
  • A cyclist entering a traffic lane from a parked position must yield to all present traffic.
  • Bicyclists may only ride side by side if they ride in the same direction and pace.
  • Bicyclists are required to ride on a fixed, conventional seat.
  • A person riding a bicycle may not carry or ride with another person unless the bike is intended to accommodate more than one person. A passenger may ride on the bicycle’s permanent and normally connected two-person seat or another heart firmly attached to the back or front.
