Rising British star Paapa Essiedu, who earned an Emmy nomination for “I May Destroy You,” takes the time-traveling route in “The Lazarus Project” on TNT.

Essiedu plays George, who wakes up one morning to find that he’s seemingly repeating a day that happened six months ago yet nobody else seems to notice. He thinks he’s losing his grip on reality until he learns about a top-secret international organization called The Lazarus Project that uses time travel to stop mass-extinction events.

(He’s told that the world has already ended several times, including once in the ’60s when Russia and America launched nuclear warheads at each other — but The Lazarus Project was able to undo it).

Essiedu, 32, said he enjoys series in which time travel plays a main role.

“I loved ‘Russian Doll.’ I haven’t watched the second [season] yet but I thought the first one was brilliant,” he told The Post.

“‘Back to the Future’ is a classic. I think this show [‘The Lazarus Project’]  pulls on strands of all of that, and tries to create something that feels unique. There are sci-fi elements, romance, action, thriller, comedy.

“All of it.”

The Lazarus Project,” which first aired on the UK’s Sky Max in 2022, has already filmed a second season.

“I think George is a really relatable guy. He’s a very normal dude,” Essiedu said. “It’s crazy what he goes through. But he’s almost an everyman. He works in tech, he enjoys watching football, he’s got a girlfriend. He’s someone who is not prepared for this extraordinary situation, and has to improvise or adapt to reach the levels required of that world.

“I think what’s exciting about the show is … in the film of our lives, we’re all quite ordinary people. But weird sh–t happens all the time. How do we cope with it?”

Essiedu said that he was able to relate to George because in his own life, he’s experienced situations where he’s felt like a fish out of water.

“I remember when I went to drama school when I was 19, I never really went to the theater. I had never seen a Shakespeare play, I had never been around people who cared about Chekhov or Stanislavski or whatever,” he said. “And suddenly I found myself in this institution where that’s all anyone talked about all day. I felt like the odd one out.

“But you adapt and stretch yourself to be able to meet the demands of the space,” he said. “I think that’s what George does well. But I also relate to his questioning of the environment that he’s in. He doesn’t just turn up and people tell him what to do and he just does it. He asks questions.”

Essiedu also has a lot of other projects in the pipeline, including a role in the hotly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.” (“Absolutely not,” he said, when asked if he can share anything about that.) He’s currently in rehearsal for the play “The Effect” at the National Theater in London, he’s co-starring in the film “The Outrun” with Saoirse Ronan and he’s also co-starring with Melissa McCarthy in a Christmas movie from Richard Curtis.

“I just did a comedy,” he said, referring to his movie with Melissa McCarthy.

“And that was so different to the things I had been doing before that. But it was so nourishing for me as an artist. I try not to pigeonhole myself, or do the same thing twice. I’ve been busy.

“I’m grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given, and I don’t take them for granted,” he said. “I want to continue exploring different types of stories and characters.”

The Lazarus Project Cast: Where You Know The Stars Of TNT's New Sci-Fi Drama Series

Have you seen these actors before, or are you just stuck in a time loop?

Anjli Mohindra and Paapa Essiedu on The Lazarus Project

Have you ever sensed the feeling that you may have done some thing, or met some person, or been at some time once before? If so, it is nothing unusual, as every person experiences a case of déjà vu at some point in their lives. For instance, if you plan on watching TNT’s latest series, you might find yourself wondering what other movies or TV shows you may have seen TNT’s The Lazarus Project cast in before.

Not to be confused with the 2015 horror movie, The Lazarus Effect , this new sci-fi drama from creator Joe Barton follows a man who becomes a part of the bizarre, earth-shattering missions of a secret organization that uses time travel to prevent tragedy after he proves to be sensitive to their time-loop technology. Already a hit in the United Kingdom as a SkyTV original in 2022, The Lazarus Project will make its U.S. debut on TNT tonight at 9 p.m./8c. Before you check it out for yourself, take a look at this breakdown of who plays who and why the talented ensemble may have left you feeling stricken with déjà vu.

Paapa Essiedu on The Lazarus Effect

Paapa Essiedu (George)

Leading the Lazarus Project cast as George — an ordinary man recruited into the extraordinary titular organization after uniquely noticing that his life has been put on repeat — is Paapa Essiedu, who is best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Kwame on star and creator Michaela Coel ’s I May Destroy You and for his smaller, but pivotal, part in writer and director Alex Garland’s bizarre 2022 sci-fi drama , Men , as the husband of Jessie Buckley’s character.

The theatre-trained actor, who has performed in several stage productions of classic William Shakespeare plays, also appeared on the original British version of the sci-fi drama, Utopia , had a small role in 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express as a police officer, and played George Boleyn in AMC’s limited historical fiction series, Anne Boleyn . Keep an eye out for him when Black Mirror Season 6 premieres on Netflix later in June 2023.

Anjli Mohindra on The Lazarus Project

Anjli Mohindra (Archie)

The one who recruits George into the Lazarus Project after noticing his special sense of time loops is Archie, played by Anjli Mohindra, who is best known as Rani Chandra from the Doctor Who spin-off TV show, The Sarah Jane Adventures .

Coincidentally, she also guest-starred on a Doctor Who episode as an entirely different character named Queen Skithra in 2020 and also leant her voice to the animated series, Daleks! , as the Mechanoid Queen that same year. Audiences may also recognize Mohindra from a 2018 episode of the hit DC TV show , Legends of Tomorrow , Netflix’s hit miniseries from that same year, Bodyguard , and the sci-fi Amazon Prime original TV show from 2022, The Peripheral .

Rudi Dharmalingam on The Lazarus Project

Rudi Dharmalingam (Shiv)

A fellow Lazarus Project agent by the name of Shiv is played by Rudi Dharmalingam, who last starred in a title about time travel when he appeared in the 2019 Netflix original sci-fi movie , In the Shadow of the Moon .

Before then, he made his feature film debut with a small, uncredited appearance in the 2016 Harry Potter movies prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them , before starring in an episode of Amazon Prime’s original, Phillip K. Dick-inspired sci-fi anthology TV show , Electric Dreams , the following year. He would later go on to lead the psychological thriller TV series, Wakefield (aired as a Showtime original in the U.S. in 2021) and joined the Great Expectations cast as Wemmick for FX on Hulu in 2023.

Caroline Quentin on The Lazarus Project

Caroline Quentin (Elizabeth "Wes" Wesley)

As Elizabeth “Wes” Wesley, who serves as the leader of the Lazarus Project, we have Caroline Quentin, who is something of a renowned British TV legend, especially in the world of humor. She has appeared opposite comic genius Rowan Atkinson in an episode of Mr. Bean , was a series regular on the sitcom British Men Behaving Badly , and went on to play the title role another comedy series called Kiss Me Kate .

She would later branch out to more genres, such as with crime TV shows (like Blue Murder ) and period dramas (such as Dickensian and an episode of Netflix’s Bridgerton ), and has also starred in a couple of holiday movies with Elizabeth Hurley — namely Father Christmas is Back in 2021 and Christmas in the Caribbean the following year.

Charly Clive on The Lazarus Project

Charly Clive (Sarah)

Starring as George’s lover, Sarah, is Charly Clive, who made her screen acting debut in the 2015 dramedy film, Never Better , before going on to lead the raunchy Max (formerly HBO Max) original TV series , Pure . In 2021, she starred in the wicked British horror-comedy movie , All My Friends Hate Me , and wrote, produced, and starred as a fictionalized version of herself in the 21-minute short film, Britney . She actually played another character named “Charly” in a more recent short film from 2022, called Green Space .

Tom Burke on The Lazarus Project

Tom Burke (Rebrov)

Former Lazarus Project agent-turned-criminal Rebrov is played by Tom Burke, who first started to make a big impression on Stateside audiences with his role in 2019’s The Souvenir and with his spot-on portrayal of Orson Welles in Mank for Netflix the following year.

He also gave a charming performance opposite Academy Award nominee Bill Nighy in 2022’s Living and, since 2017, has portrayed the title role on the mystery TV show C.B. Strike , which is inspired by a series of books by J.K. Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. Some of his earlier most notable credits include the acclaimed 2003 miniseries State of Play (his first collaboration with Nighy), director Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives as the brother of Ryan Gosling’s character, and BBC’s Musketeers TV show from 2014 to 2016.

Now that you know why the talented members of the Lazarus Project cast look so familiar to you, you can see them in action disrupting the flow of time for the greater good (or for more treacherous purposes) when the drama becomes officially available for American audiences to witness, tonight at 9 p.m. EST (8 p.m. CST) on TNT.

Screen Rant

The lazarus project clip explains the show's time travel [exclusive].

Screen Rant exclusively presents an exciting clip from TNT's upcoming sci-fi action series, The Lazarus Project, which breaks down its time travel.

Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive clip from the upcoming TNT sci-fi action series The Lazarus Project . The series follows George, an unexpected new recruit to The Lazarus Project. This program manipulates time in order to save the world from apocalyptic events, and it has done so multiple times. However, George has a much more personal reason to want time to rewind when someone he loves is grievously injured.

After this turn of events, it's up to George (played by I May Destroy You 's Paapa Essiedu ) to decide if he's going to continue following The Lazarus Project's rules, which don't allow him to turn back time for personal reasons, or go rogue to save the one he loves. An original concept that combines time travel, world-saving action, and moral questions The Lazarus Project is an exciting new sci-fi adventure that first debuted in the UK in June 2022. TNT picked up the series and will debut it in the US on June 4.

More About The Lazarus Project

Screen Rant's exclusive clip from The Lazarus Project explains how time travel works within this world. George meets Archie (played by Anjli Mohindra), a part of The Lazarus Project. Archie tells him that his mutation has allowed him to naturally pick up on when time travel occurs, making him the perfect recruit for their program. She elaborates that they stop the world from ending and have had to jump back in time twenty times during George's life to save the world, but this is the first time he has picked up on it. George surprises her by asking about the world-ending events instead of time travel.

Although The Lazarus Project has the ability to time travel, they seem to only use it in the most dire of circumstances, when there are no other options to stop a cataclysmic event. George not being someone they actively recruited is an interesting dynamic because it establishes him as an outlier in the agency. He isn't someone they chose because he would be the right fit from a skill or psychological standpoint; instead, his mutation made him a candidate.

The first season of The Lazarus Project consists of eight episodes. The Lazarus Project stars Emmy® Award and BAFTA-nominated Paapa Essiedu, Anjli Mohindra, Tom Burke, Caroline Quentin, Rudi Dharmalingam, and Charly Clive. The Lazarus Project is executive produced by Julian Murphy, Johnny Capps, Joe Barton, Gabriel Silver, and Paul Gilbert.

What does ‘nf’ mean in ‘black mirror’ episode “demon 79”, ‘black mirror’ season 6 teases salma hayek, aaron paul and annie murphy in trippy first trailer, is ‘i may destroy you’ season 2 in the works at hbo.

Shows and movies with time jumps, especially ones where someone repeatedly relives the same day, weeks or months , make some people uneasy because of the idea that you live life for a time and then… you live it over again, completely aware that something isn’t right. In a new TNT thriller, a man finds out he has the ability to remember these time jumps and who’s been controlling them.

THE LAZARUS PROJECT : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

Opening Shot: A man and a woman in bed. When there’s a noise, the woman says, “The rubbish men are here,” then her hand lands on his face. He looks at his clock. It’s 7 AM on July 1.

The Gist: It’s an important day for George (Paapa Essiedu); he’s pitching his app to a bank for a business loan. His girlfriend Sarah (Charly Clive) tries to get him to relax by offering a flash of her tits if he makes her tea.

The pitch meeting, for a predictive stock performance app, goes well. Sarah finds out she’s pregnant. Then there’s a joyous wedding. But all is not well. A new global pandemic puts the UK in lockdown, and it seems to be worse than COVID ever was. By the holidays, everyone is in masks, hospitals are overwhelmed, and a pregnant Sarah is being rushed to an overcrowded ER, barely able to breathe.

All of a sudden, George wakes back up in bed with Sarah’s hand on his face. It’s July 1 again, but George remembers everything that just happened from July to December. It makes him completely paranoid, because he knows that the pandemic is coming. Things get so bad that he doesn’t get the loan and eventually Sarah leaves him. As he goes after Sarah, a woman named Archie (Anjli Mohindra) gives him a card with a building name on it and says he experienced a time jump, and if he experienced another one, he should go there.

Sure enough, he wakes up again on July 1, and he goes to the building. Archie introduces him to the other members of The Lazarus Project, who have the ability to turn back time whenever humanity is on the verge of extinction. July 1 is basically their checkpoint; they’ll keep going back to the previous July 1 as much as they need to save humanity, then when the emergency is over, time then moves forward, and the next July 1 becomes their new checkpoint. George is one of the very few people on the planet who can recall time jumps, and they can use that ability in the Lazarus Project.

He meets the group’s leader, Elisabeth ‘Wes’ Wesley (Caroline Quentin), and the other members: Blake (Lorn Macdonald), Greta (Salóme Gunnarsdóttir), Erik “The Dane” Erikson (Lukas Loughran) and Shiv (Rudi Dharmalingam). Shiv also has the same natural ability George has, but he’s got the serious manner of a man who’s seen some things.

Because of the time jumps, they have the time to help develop a vaccine, so they get past George’s first checkpoint as an agent. But there’s another threat; a nuclear warhead has been stolen by a former Lazarus agent named Rebrov (Tom Burke), who apparently isn’t the first agent to “go bad.”

An incident with Sarah’s coworker Ross (Brian Gleeson) almost leads Sarah to getting hit by a garbage truck at the school where Sarah and Ross work, but George grabs her at the last possible second. But when the Lazarus team tries to retrieve the nuke in Paris, Rebrov not only kills Archie and The Dane but sets off the bomb. Which means, of course, everyone goes back to the previous July 1. But George finds that didn’t happen before may happen now, and he may not be able to fix it.

What Shows Will It Remind You Of? Think Groundhog Day or Russian Doll but deadly serious.

Our Take: One of the things we appreciated about the first episode of The Lazarus Project is that writer Joe Barton ( Giri/Haji, The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself ) doesn’t torture George with dozens of time jumps before being introduced to The Lazarus Project. But what we also appreciate is that the first episode does just enough time jumping to set up what’s really going to happen in the series.

Yes, it’s about the fact that this group can turn back time to give itself the opportunity to save humanity. And there are rules involved in all this, some that are more vaguely defined than others. For instance, it seems that if you die before a time jump, you come back to life, and Lazarus Project members — who, except for George and Shiv, have been given this ability to remember jumps through artificial means — remember those deaths. How they’re not traumatized by that, we don’t know. Of course, if you die and the planet moves on to the next checkpoint, you’re out of luck, even if you’re a Lazarus team member.

That’s what is truly at play here. After Rebrov detonates that nuke, we get a time jump, which means that the incident with Sarah and Ross happens again, but this time, George doesn’t save her. If the threat of Rebrov is resolved this time around and the next checkpoint passes, Sarah will be gone forever.

So Barton is giving us a bit of a red herring by getting George involved with Lazarus. It’s what he does after Sarah dies, and who he turns to for help. that’s the real story here. And that’s certainly more intriguing than getting into the nitty gritty of just how Lazarus can do its thing. In fact, when George asks Archie how these time jumps work, the basically explains away things by telling him it’s a “singularity” and how it operates has to do with quantum physics, so “there’s really not much point in explaining it.” And with that sentence, Barton frees himself of having to do just that. The move is admirable in its obviousness, but it turns the show into more of an action series than a pedantic sci-fi show.

Essiedu is up to the task of playing George, who hasn’t seen as much of the world ending as Shiv has, but is soon going to learn that the personal consequences of having this “gift” are pretty vast. Mohindra is a good foil as Archie, and it seems that she gets to be one of the few who gets to fire off droll lines like “I’m a brown woman; why would I want to?” when George asks if they can go back to 1800s London.

Sex and Skin: We see Sarah and George having sex past the 2023 checkpoint, but it’s under the blanket with clothes on (the series was first developed for Sky in the UK and on basic cable here; that’s going to be all you get).

Parting Shot: Sarah gets hit by the garbage truck. George realizes what just happened, and we see him in slow motion turn around, silently yell “Sarah!” and run to where she got hit.

Sleeper Star: Rudi Dharmalingam’s Shiv is an interesting character, mainly because he’s seen the world end and knows that “it catches up with you.” It’s an entryway into examining just how this ability affects those who have it and why agents like Rebrov go rogue.

Most Pilot-y Line: After Rebrov sets off the nuke and time jumps, George calls Archie. “Holy shit, I got shot in the head!” she tells him with a bit of incredulousness but also a bit too matter-of-factly.

Our Call: STREAM IT. Because The Lazarus Project is more action thriller than sci-fi show, the mission that George goes on after Sarah dies will be interesting to watch, mainly because he may find himself in opposition to the group that constantly has to save humanity from itself.

The 32 Best TV Shows About Time Travel

time travel TV shows

Time traveling is a popular topic when it comes to all types of entertainment from books to films. But in recent years time travel has also become a popular theme in TV.

So let’s take a look at this list of the best time traveling TV shows and find out how each of them handles time travel and all the history that comes with it.

Doctor Who, BBC One (1963 – 1989, 2005 – present)

BBC One Doctor Who

When it comes to time traveling and TV, probably the most notable name in this niche is Doctor Who  because this time travel series has been around for 39 seasons and is still going strong.

Hailing from British television channel BBC One, Doctor Who tells the tale of the Time Lord aka The Doctor, and his companions as they travel to different times and try to prevent evil forces from changing history and hurting innocent lives.

Once the Time Lord gets hurt beyond healing, he can transform into a new body and continue saving the world. Hence why at this point 13 (soon to be 14) different actors have played The Doctor.

Doctor Who is not only a huge part of the fabric of British popular culture but by now this time travel show has found its way into the hearts of many people all over the world.

It has inspired many spin-offs in the form of TV shows, comic books, movies, novels, you name it. But more than that, by now it has become an industry standard both when it comes to science-fiction television series and shows about time travel.

No wonder that Doctor Who continues to be successful after countless actor changes and plot twists.

Where to watch Doctor Who:

Timeless, nbc (2016 – 2018).

NBC Timeless

Another time travel TV series that has already become a cult classic and is adored by fans all over the world is NBC’s Timeless . And despite the turmoil that this show has gone through, it still is time traveling at its best.

Starring Malcolm Barrett, Matt Lanter, and Abigail Spencer as Rufus, Wyatt, and Lucy, Timeless  details the trio traveling to different times in an effort to stop their adversaries from rewriting history.

But as it later turns out, the conspiracy goes deeper than them just changing history. Since the people who our trio is chasing are traveling through time to take down a dangerous and all-powerful organization. The same one that helped build the time machine that Rufus, Wyatt, and Lucy are using.

And although Timeless went on for just two seasons (and a two-hour wrap-up movie), you should still check out the show because it’s not only entertaining but will make you think and want to know more about the events that each episode is exploring.

Where to watch Timeless:

Dc’s legends of tomorrow, the cw (2016 – present).

DC's Legends of Tomorrow

If you are a fan of superhero TV shows, then you will probably have heard about DC’s Legends of Tomorrow . It is a show that is a huge part of The CW’s Arrowverse. And has crossed over with shows like Arrow , The Flash , and Supergirl multiple times now.

And even if you don’t like the rest of the superhero series but do enjoy a good old time travel TV show, then I suggest you still give Legends of Tomorrow a watch.

The plot of this show is based around a team of superheroes that are traveling through time in their time machine christened the Waverider to prevent different catastrophes from happening. Both ones made by others and those created by the team’s previous adventures.

At the forefront, there are well-known DC heroes like Rip Hunter, Firestorm, The Atom, Kid Flash, Steel, and Vixen. Joined by some original characters like Caity Lotz’s White Canary among others.

One of the defining characteristics of Legends of Tomorrow is how fun it is. Because adjectives like unapologetic, witty, and entertaining are frequently used to describe this time travel series.

However, more than that, it adds an interesting layer to the whole Arrowverse universe. And above all, it is just a hoot to watch.

Where to watch Legends of Tomorrow:

12 monkeys, syfy (2015 – 2018).

SyFy 12 Monkeys

Then there also is SyFy’s 12 Monkeys , which is a little darker take on time traveling. One that comes with mystery, drama, and apocalyptic stakes. But that doesn’t lessen how good this time travel TV series is.

Split between two timelines, 12 Monkeys centers on Aaron Stanford’s James Cole, who is tasked to travel back in time and stop the distribution of a virus that has the ability to end the human race as we know it.

In Cole’s real timeline, the year is 2043 and people are struggling to survive because of the terrible mutations caused by the virus. So Cole travels back to 2015 to find virologist Cassie Railly, played by Amanda Schull, that can help him stop the release of the virus and the organization that is behind it called The Army of the 12 Monkeys.

If you think about it, the post-apocalyptic setting and time travel really do go hand in hand. Because if you can go back in time to stop history from being changed, why not go back to change it if it prevents something terrible from happening?

And that is what this show explores. Beautifully combining elements of mystery, drama, and science fiction, to form a great TV show.

Where to watch 12 Monkeys:

Outlander, starz (2014 – present).

time travel show tnt

Want another show that mixes time travel with historical events and does it flawlessly? Then you should put Outlander on your must-watch TV show list!

The show starts in the 1940s when a combat nurse Claire Randall visits Inverness, Scotland as part of her second honeymoon with her husband Frank. Claire accidentally happens upon the standing stones at Craigh na Dun which transport her back in time to 1743.

To return to her own time she first has to survive 18th-century Scotland. And she does so by joining a group of rebel Highlanders from Clan MacKenzie and marrying one of the Highlanders, Jamie Fraser. But eventually, she falls in love with her new husband and aids the clan in evading British redcoats that are pursuing them.

Over the five seasons of Outlander that are currently out (with the sixth coming soon), we see Claire jump back and forth between the 20th and 18th centuries and her two families as she faces two pregnancies, wars, and much more. But eventually, Claire finds her way back to Jamie.

Where to watch Outlander:

Travelers, showcase (2016 – 2018).

Netflix Travelers

Then we have Travelers , a joint venture between Netflix and Canada’s Showcase that will tick all of your time travel TV show boxes.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world , this show depicts the adventures of travelers – operatives who go back in time to prevent the collapse of society.

These travelers are transferred into the bodies of our current-day humans, who otherwise would die, to blend in with twenty-first-century people. And with the help of their artificial intelligence boss from the future, travelers carry out missions in order to stop many catastrophic events from happening.

Travelers is a great mix of sci-fi and drama, featuring a great cast and spine-tingling storylines. So if you love all that and love a good time-travel series, then look no further than Travelers .

Where to watch Travelers:

Dark, netflix (2017 – 2020).

time travel show tnt

Netflix’s first German original series was the science fiction series Dark , which mixes in some mystery drama with sci-fi: time travel, the apocalypse, wormholes, and parallel worlds.

Dark takes place in Winden, a fictional German town, and begins in 2019 after children begin to disappear from the town. As the show progresses, however, timelines jump drastically between as early as 1921 to as late as 2053.

As four families in Winden investigate the disappearances to reunite with their lost loved ones, they discover a wormhole beneath the local powerplant that allows them to travel between timelines, thus uncovering a generations-long conspiracy involving the town and their families.

Where to watch Dark:

The umbrella academy, netflix (2019 – present).

time travel show tnt

Netflix brings another to the list with The Umbrella Academy .

On October 1, 1989, 43 infants were suddenly born from unsuspecting women despite them not even being pregnant the day before.

7 of them were raised together as the Hargreeve siblings and trained in their respective abilities until their relationship became strained as teenagers and they drifted apart.

Now, as adults, they’re brought back together by the death of their adoptive father – and the threat of the end of the world, of course.

They’re forced to travel back in time but end up in different times and places, and must find each other again to stop the nuclear apocalypse.

Where to watch The Umbrella Academy:

Seven days, upn (1998 – 2001).

time travel show tnt

We know that the National Security Agency has its share of secrets, but what if one of those secrets was a time-traveling machine?

In UPN’s Seven Days , the plot centers on one such device made from alien technology found at Roswell.

The Chronosphere, as it’s called, can only be used in times when national security is at risk – the limited capacity of the device allows for just one human to go back in time by seven days in order to avert disasters.

Thus, when the White House is attacked, the NSA employs former Navy SEAL and CIA operative Frank Parker to go back and prevent it from happening.

Where to watch Seven Days:

Loki, disney+ (2021 – present).

time travel show tnt

Yes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the greatest gifts to the cinema of our time. Now, the MCU has expanded even further into the television medium and we’ve got a few series to accompany it!

One of those is Loki , which of course, centers on the God of Thunder’s mischievous adopted brother.

After the events in Avengers: Endgame , particularly his stealing of the Tesseract, Loki inadvertently creates another timeline that began in 2012, making him a “time variant” version of himself.

When confronted by the authorities, Loki is given two choices: face punishment and cease to exist, or travel through time to fix his own mess and the threat that has emerged.

Where to watch Loki:

Making history, fox (2017).

time travel show tnt

The thing about traveling back in time is, you have to be very careful that your actions in the past won’t affect the future (which is essentially your actual present).

Most of the time, that’s something you wouldn’t know until you go back to your time. In Making History , however, Dan Chambers travels back in time to right before the American Revolution and sets off a series of events that seriously mess up the future.

Being able to constantly travel between time periods, Dan recruits the help of history professor Chis Parrish to travel with him and ensure that the American Revolution still takes place.

Where to watch Making History:

Quantum leap, nbc (1989 – 1993).

time travel show tnt

The title of NBC’s sci-fi comedy-drama Quantum Leap is also the name of the time travel machine that accidentally sends its creator, physicist Dr. Sam Beckett, back into the past.

Now, he’s stuck – and not as himself, either!

Sam discovers that he jumped into the body of a stranger and because he’s still himself, doesn’t know all the details of his current identity.

With the help of his friend Al, who appears as a hologram only he can see, he must fix something that went wrong so he can jump in time again and eventually get back to his own body.

Where to watch Quantum Leap:

Quantum leap, nbc (2022 – present).

time travel show tnt

Speaking of Quantum Leap , in 2022 NBC revived the 1989 series into a more modern take on the cult classic.

In this new Quantum Leap , thirty years have passed since Dr. Sam Beckett vanished into the Quantum Leap accelerator, and the Quantum Leap project was put to rest.

Now the project is restarted with a new team, who tries to puzzle together the mysteries behind Beckett and his time-traveling machine.

So, we follow Ben Song, the lead physicist of the Quantum Leap time travel project, who gets lost in the past after leaping back in time.

As he tries to return to the present he is helped by his fiancée Addison Augustine, who appears to him as a hologram during each leap, and the team back in the present time.

Where to watch Quantum Leap reboot:

The way home, hallmark channel (2023 – present).

time travel show tnt

Among the newest time travel shows on this list is Hallmark’s The Way Home which has already been renewed for a second season.

The Way Home follows three generations of Landry women who learn that they can time travel after discovering a magic pond on their family’s farm in Port Haven.

When Kat and her daughter Alice return to Port Haven and are forced to move in with Alice’s estranged mother Del, the three women use time travel to uncover their family history, including what really happened to Kat’s little brother Jacob and whether they can prevent his disappearance.

Where to watch The Way Home:

Russian doll, netflix (2019 – 2022).

time travel show tnt

Netflix’s Russian Doll deviates from the traditional time travel theme of a willing traveler in one specific timeline because Russian Doll’s protagonist Nadia Vulvokov not only has absolutely no choice or control over her so-called time traveling, but hers is also a time loop.

She wakes up every day having to relive the day of her 36th birthday party in New York City; every time, she dies and comes back to the exact same moment.

Every time, Nadia scrambles to figure out what happens to her and tries to prevent her death, leading her to find Alan, a man who is experiencing the same time loop.

Where to watch Russian Doll:

Undone, prime video (2019 – present).

time travel show tnt

Undone may be an animated series, but it certainly isn’t geared toward younger audiences; though there is a touch of comedy, the series leans more towards the psychological drama genre and “explores the elastic nature of reality”.

The series follows Alma Winograd-Diaz right after she gets into a near-fatal car accident.

Right before the crash, she has a strange vision of her dead father, and right after it, she finds that she now has the ability to manipulate and move through time.

Using this newfound power, she travels between time periods to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding her father’s death.

Where to watch Undone:

Voyagers, nbc (1982 – 1983).

time travel show tnt

Premiering back in the early 1980s, NBC’s Voyagers! Is set in a world where time travel already exists.

In fact, there’s already a secret society in place that trains its members, called Voyagers, to go back in time and make sure that historical events happen exactly the way they’re supposed to – otherwise it could affect the present in unexpected ways.

One such Voyager is Phineas Bogg, although he isn’t exactly the best at the job.

During an accidental trip to 1982, he meets the young Jeffrey Jones and ends up bringing him along on one of his missions.

Having lost his Guidebook, Phineas now needs to rely on the extremely smart Jeffrey to get history right.

Where to watch Voyagers!:

Fringe, fox (2008 – 2013).

time travel show tnt

Fox’s Fringe is a series that was well into the science fiction genre, with parallel universes, supernatural abilities, biotechnology, doomsday predictions, and of course, time travel.

The title is taken from fringe science, which is a branch that deals with scientific theories riddled with skepticism or even having been disproven already.

In Fringe , Special Agent Olivia Dunham is assigned to oversee the FBI ’s Fringe Division, which is run by Peter Bishop and his father Walter.

Together, the team uses both fringe science and Olivia’s knowledge in investigative techniques to explore the unexplained.

In the process, they discover a larger mystery involving parallel universes and alternate timelines .

Where to watch Fringe:

Time after time, abc (2017).

time travel show tnt

ABC’s Time After Time is based on the novel of the same name written by Kevin Williamson in 1979.

In addition to that, each episode takes its title from a line in Cyndi Lauper’s song, which was inspired by the film (and subsequently, the same book!).

In Time After Time , we are taken to H.G. Wells’ home in 1893.

During a dinner party, he reveals his time machine – right before his guest John Stevenson is arrested for actually being Jack the Ripper .

John escapes through the time machine and Wells follows him straight into the present: 2017. Thus begins a cat-and-mouse game as John attempts to gain control of the machine.

Where to watch Time After Time:

11.22.63, hulu (2016).

time travel show tnt

When you have anything with Stephen King involved, you know it’s going to be great.

Hulu’s eight-episode miniseries 11.22.63 is based on King’s novel 11/22/63 and is a science fiction thriller like no other.

Starring James Franco in the lead role, 11.22.63 follows Jake Epping, an English teacher from Maine .

His best friend Al reveals a time travel machine and asks him to take over the mission he’s been working on: to travel to the 60s and prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Will Jake be successful in changing a past that simply refuses to be changed?

Where to watch 11.22.63:

The 4400, usa network/sky one (2004 – 2007).

time travel show tnt

The 4400 is yet another slightly different take on the idea of time travel, in that there has been just one (fairly significant) shift forward in time, to the present.

Beginning in 1946, individuals who were easily overlooked or marginalized by society slowly began disappearing through beams of green light.

Now, all 4400 of them (hence the title) have been returned to the present day – without having aged a day and in some cases, even manifesting supernatural abilities like telekinesis, healing, and telepathy.

Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris are assigned to investigate the phenomenon and find out why the 4400 have returned.

NOTE: For a fresher take on the show, you can also check out the reboot of the original series which is currently airing on The CW.

Where to watch The 4400:

Somewhere between, abc (2017).

time travel show tnt

When tragedy strikes our lives, we always wish there was something we could’ve done to prevent it.

In ABC’s Somewhere Between we meet Laura Price, a successful news producer with a great career, a loving husband who’s a district attorney, and a beautiful daughter named Serena.

However, her life changes when the serial killer she is helping the cops to catch kills Serena.

Distraught with grief , Laura attempts to complete suicide but is unsuccessful, instead waking up having time-traveled to a week before Serena’s death.

She teams up with Nico, a former SFPD detective who experienced the same reset and wants to find the real killer to change his brother’s fate as well.

Where to watch Somewhere Between:

Terra nova, fox (2011).

time travel show tnt

Terra Nova takes its viewers to both extremes of the time-traveling timeline.

The present-day is 2149, where overpopulation has threatened to deplete the Earth’s resources.

In an attempt to save Earth and mankind, scientists have found a way to travel back in time, sending groups of humans back to the Cretaceous Period to set up colonies.

Terra Nova focuses primarily on Elisabeth and Jim Shannon, and their three children, who have joined the 10th pilgrimage to Terra Nova.

They offer their expertise as a trauma surgeon and former narcotics detective and help those in charge with stopping those whose intentions go against the greater good.

Where to watch Terra Nova:

Frequency, the cw (2016 – 2017).

time travel show tnt

One concept in time travel is known as “the butterfly effect”, wherein one small change in time may have great effects elsewhere.

Frequency demonstrates this concept perfectly.

Raimy Sullivan is an NYPD detective who, after a strange weather phenomenon, discovers that she can communicate with her dead father through his old ham radio.

Believing he was a corrupt cop, she learns the truth and warns him of his murder, thus saving his life.

However, this has profound effects on the future – Raimy’s present.

Now, they must work together across time to save her father and preserve the present.

Where to watch Frequency:

Life on mars, bbc one (2006).

time travel show tnt

In many of the shows on the list so far, the protagonists experience a time loop that’s triggered at the point of their death.

It’s no different for Sam Tyler, the main character in the British series Life on Mars .

Sam is a Detective Chief Inspector with the Greater Manchester Police, but one day he accidentally gets hit by a car.

When he awakens, he’s in 1973 and working at one rank lower than he was: Detective Inspector.

The selling point of Life on Mars , however, is that we’re left unsure if Sam’s predicament is due to his actual death, a comatose, or time travel.

Where to watch Life on Mars:

Always a witch, netflix (2019 – 2020).

time travel show tnt

Always A Witch (or Siempre Bruja in its original Spanish title) is a Colombian series that is set in both present-day Colombia and the 17th century .

The series follows Carmen Eguiliuz, a young 19-year-old witch who, after committing the crime of falling in love with a white man in 1646 colonial Colombia, is scheduled to be burned at the stake.

She gets a chance to escape to a new life when the mysterious wizard Aldemar makes a deal with her: he will save the man she loves if she travels into the future to find the woman who can break his curse.

Where to watch Always a Witch:

Beforeigners, hbo (2019 – present).

time travel show tnt

HBO’s Beforeigners is a Norwegian sci-fi crime drama series and the first Norwegian original from HBO Europe.

The title is a clever play on words centered on the general plot: a group of “foreigners” has suddenly shown up at a neighborhood in Oslo, and they are all from “before” times, or several different time periods in history.

Whether from the Viking period , the Stone Age, or the more recent 19th century , each of these ‘Beforeigners’ tries to integrate in modern-day Norwegian society.

One of them even partners with a detective to investigate first a murdered Stone Age woman, then a series of murderers tied to Jack the Ripper.

Where to watch Beforeigners:

Alice, sbs tv (2020).

time travel show tnt

Alice was a South Korean sci-fi series that aired in late 2020.

In the lead-up to the main plot, the show’s background is explained to its viewers.

Set in 2050, time travel is monitored by an agency called Alice, which sends its clients to the past to help find closure with deceased loved ones.

Alice one day sends two agents to 1992 in order to find the Book of Prophecy, but one of them disappears with the book and her unborn child.

In 2020, the child becomes a detective and in his investigation into his mother’s death in 2010, discovers the existence of Alice and time travel.

Where to watch Alice:

Live up to your name, tvn (2017).

time travel show tnt

Yet another South Korean time travel series , Live Up to Your Name initially takes its viewers some 400 years into the past, right in the middle of the Joseon dynasty.

There we meet Heo Im, a doctor of traditional Korean medicine who also specializes in acupuncture.

On one of his treatments of the king’s migraines, he made a mistake and was charged with treason.

Chased by the king’s soldiers, he’s shot with an arrow and presumed dead when he falls into the river – except he ends up waking up in present-day Seoul instead, where he meets cardiothoracic surgeon Choi Yeon-kyung.

Where to watch Live Up to Your Name:

My only love song, netflix (2017).

time travel show tnt

Our third South Korean series is Netflix’s My Only Love Song , which aired in 2017.

We start off in modern-day Korea where we meet Soo-jung, a talented and top-level actress.

However, it seems that the fame may have gotten to her head as she’s arrogant, and believes fame and money make the world go round.

When things don’t go her way on her new show, she winds up in a time-traveling van that takes her to the 6th century.

There, she meets a man much like herself in terms of arrogance, but his hidden soft spot and generosity towards the poor changes her perspective on her own life and self.

Where to watch My Only Love Song:

Signal, tvn (2016).

time travel show tnt

Signal is based on the 2000 American film Frequency , but another thing that sets this South Korean series apart from others is that the cases investigated in the series are also based on real-life crimes in the country.

Signal follows a cold case profiler from 2015 and a detective from 1989 simultaneously; they discover they’re able to communicate with each other through an old walkie-talkie.

Using this unique ability to provide much-needed foresight in investigations, they team up to both solve and in some cases, even prevent these horrific crimes.

Where to watch Signal:

Rooftop prince, sbs (2012).

time travel show tnt

Last but not least, South Korea brings its last time-traveling series to the table with Rooftop Prince , a comedy-drama filled with intrigue, mixed identities, and possible reincarnations.

Crown Prince Lee Gak from the Joseon dynasty accidentally time travels to 2012 with three others from his entourage, and their lives are thrown into a whirlwind.

He crosses paths with Se-na, who looks exactly like his recently deceased wife.

In the hopes of getting answers about his wife’s mysterious drowning, he assumes the identity of another man who he also looks exactly like and attempts to marry Se-na in this timeline as well.

Tomorrow people cw

You forgot The Time Tunnel, an Irwin Allen sci-fi show (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost In Space, Land of The Giants), all classic 60s sci-fi

Journeyman should also be on this list. It was only half a season on NBC but it wraps up to a satisfying conclusion.

Fantastic acting and interesting characters.

i was looking for this comment. such an underrated show

I concur. This was definitely a great one. It certainly provides a lot of food for thought.

Some of the information in the Doctor Who one is wrong. It started in 1963, it was only revived in 2005 (you put 2006), and it’s been going for 39 seasons, as of June 2022

Thanks for letting me know! I updated the article accordingly.

This is a great list! I love the Korean drama Time Travel series. My favorites are Faith, Rooftop Prince, I love Lee Tae Ri, Signal and Tunnel.

Have you ever seen “Voyagers!”? It was like a predecessor to Quantum Leap and lasted 1 season on NBC. It stared one of the most beautiful men to ever grace television, the late Jon-Erik Hexum. He’s a roguish time-traveling pirate, Phineas Bogg, a Voyager that travels throughout time with a smart young boy and they have to fix moments where history’s gone wrong. It was a fun show. It’s definitely binge-worthy and Hexum was such a charming young actor. Although it was made with kids and education in mind, (Co-Produced by Scholastic) there’s plenty of romantic moments for Bogg!

He and Meeno Peluce (the boy, Jeffrey Jones) made a great team. I run a fansite and FB page for the series. You can watch it on Amazon Prime, and it’s currently free on NBC.com.

I own the series and I was heartbroken when Jon died. I recently bought the 30 episode tv show from the 60’s The Time Tunnel…. Now this was where most time travel shows spawned from. Especially Quantum Leap.

Nice list! Back to the Future made me a sucker for time travel plots. So would the cartoon count as one?

How can Outlander be #16?

You NEED TO READ – It clearly states that the shows are in No Particular Order!

You forgot ‘The Time tunnel’ – The first American time travel show

Goodnight Sweetheart is THE ultimate time travel show!

Maybe you guys can help me….. I’m looking for a series perhaps a movie….. not sure. only saw a piece of it and have been searching ever since. I even looked trough all the male actors to cross reference, nothing. It seem to involve time travel an attempt to shift history. Almost achieve the goal by manipulating the son of the leader – I know its horribly vague…. but he ends up speaking to his son. He explains the situation from a watchmakers point of view- His hobby is watchmaking….the comparison he draws between ‘leading’ or directing humans where they need to be is similar to the watchmaker making a clock. its been almost two years…. but so far no luck finding this series. Help 🙂

think you may be thinking of inception (link removed)

How could you not have Netflix’s Dark on this list?

I agree. Dark is a pretty good series (3 seasons on Netflix). It’s a German show so you have to up with English lip syncing, but once you get used to it, it’s a good show.

Absolutely the best time travel show ever made imo

It is on the list (#30).

12 Monkeys needs to be #1 … Pretty sure it’s the only show that properly does time travel and causality! Love it

Continuum seems to be right on the money as we see a few corporations [e.g., Amazon] displacing small business, and taking over government. Science Fiction frequently becomes Science.

Looks like Continuum is no longer on Amazon Prime (unless you want to buy it. Is it anywhere else?

It looks like it’s only available to buy on Digital and DVD/Blu-ray now.

Netflix’s DARK is the best Time Travel show ever made. Never believe anything else!

Timeslip UK kids show from 60`s predates all these and deals with past , future, global cooling(remember that) and cloning.

I’ve never heard of it! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

It’s a indian movie named Time

Brødrene Dal og Spektralsteinene and Brødrene Dal og Mysteriet om Karl XIIs Gamasjer both have time travel as a key element. I prefer the former but both are pretty well planned out, although only the latter seems to remember concequences.

Thanks for the recommendations! 🙂

I like some others am trying to find a “Time Travel” movie that’s kind of like “If Only” Where a mans’ wife (Possibly Girlfriend) is killed in an auto accident an he keeps traveling back to that time to make her avoid it. He finds every time that it is avoided she is killed in another way. After so many attempts he goes back and gets in the car with her and they both die. So sort of like “If Only “ and sort of like the first part of “The Time Machine”(2002). I think the movie time-line was between 1970 and 2000 only guessing. I didn’t see the start of the movie. Always wanted to see it but the same accident happens or is averted only to have a new death.

‘bodies’ review: netflix’s sharply acted time-travel series does justice to its wild premise.

Shira Haas as DC Maplewood and Stephen Graham as Elias Mannix in Bodies.

Over eight plot-packed hours, Netflix ‘s time-spanning police drama Bodies never quite falls on its face — high praise for a genre whose convolutions reliably start off entertaining and end up infuriating.

The series begins in the present day with Shahara Hasan (Amaka Okafor), a London detective sergeant, engaging in a foot pursuit in the middle of a far-right rally and stumbling upon a body on Longharvest Lane.

In 1941, a detective (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd’s Whiteman) in bomb-rattled London gets a mysterious call to go to Longharvest Lane to make a pickup. There, in the middle of a torrential downpour, he finds a body.

In 1890, a Whitechapel detective ( Kyle Soller ‘s Hillinghead) is summoned to an alley on Longharvest Lane, where he finds a body.

Did I mention that it’s the same body? Naked. Shot through the eye, but with no bullet to be found. A strange hashmark or glyph tattoo on the wrist.

Are you curious yet?

Will you be more curious if I add that in 2053, in a London seemingly controlled by a platitude-spewing “commander” ( Stephen Graham ), a detective’s ( Shira Haas ‘ Maplewood) snazzy electrical car goes on the fritz in the vicinity of Longharvest Lane? There, she finds … yup … the same darned body.

So that’s four detectives in four time periods and one body, all connected by a doomsday cult, an unspeakable tragedy in 2023 and a future in which technological advancement and utopian equality are accompanied by the sort of autocracy that — spoiler alert — is rarely benign.

There’s some waxing and waning of momentum, but each detective has pivotal pieces of information at different times, and by the time the plotlines began to mesh in the third or fourth episode, I was fully curious about all the show’s major questions — including those related to the disposed body, the hinted-at apocalypse, the importance of Graham’s character and the fantastic or scientific machinations setting everything in motion.

My investment was rarely as great in the levels of primitive prejudice driving the three present/past threads. Hillinghead, who has a wife, daughter and a predictable Big Secret, is constantly witnessing homophobia. Whiteman, who hides his Jewishness, but finds intriguing rapport with a Yiddish-speaking girl (Chloe Raphael’s Esther), is constantly experiencing antisemitism. Despite being a practicing Muslim, Hasan witnesses very little Islamophobia, but the reactionary protests and messaging in the background are visible if you pay attention.

It isn’t that these elements don’t add nuance, but it’s pretty immediately clear that the show isn’t really “about” homophobia or antisemitism or the dangers of white nationalism. They’re semi-generic waves of hatred for the “other” that are mostly there to justify the plausible appeal of the egalitarian subservience in the future — before viewers remember that catchphrase-spouting fascists are rarely a good thing, even if that catchphrase is, “Know you are loved.”

The show’s a little nerdy, but not so nerdy that it demands you nerd out on its level. You can just take the show as a mystery/investigation and then tolerate the strained physics to your desired level. Somebody’s dead. Somebody did it. And it probably didn’t go down quite the way you’ll predict.

This is where the actors are crucial. Haas, so spectacular in Netflix’s Unorthodox , is especially good in the show’s most complicated and outlandish context. She has to withstand much of the exposition in the homestretch, and to convincingly play the character forced to navigate the choice between an enslaved utopia and a free dystopia; she does it without hitting a false note. There are multiple episodes in which the directors — Marco Kreuzpaintner for the first four and Haolu Wang for the next four — clearly realize that if you have only a limited special effects budget, putting Haas in a tight close-up and letting her summon tears can make viewers buy in to almost anything.

The supporting cast features fine work by Raphael, Tom Mothersdale, Synnove Karlsen, Greta Scacchi and more. Even though parts of the show sound silly if you describe them to people, nobody in the cast is performing like they’re in a silly show.

That’s how Bodies ends up working as well as it does. Maybe it isn’t quite ambitious enough to become a story that lingers on an emotional level, but it does general justice to the wildness of its premise and generates investment for the humans caught in the middle of it.

The Future of TNT's Iconic 'Inside the NBA' Is in Major Jeopardy

New report says NBC/Peacock is making an aggressive bid to steal the NBA from Turner Sports

  • Author: Jimmy Traina

1. The NBA’s current television deals expire after next season and it appears that there will be major changes beginning with the 2025-26 season.

One thing that won't change is that ESPN/ABC will still be the main player. Puck’s John Ourand has reported that ESPN and the NBA have agreed on the parameters of a deal that will see the Finals remain on ABC.

However, the “B” package could be on the move.

The Wall Street Journa ’ 's Joe Flint reported on Monday that NBC/Peacock is making a MAJOR push to steal the TNT package. MAJOR = $2.5 BILLION per year.

NBCUniversal is serious about trying to steal the NBA from TNT. It's prepared to pay an average of about $2.5 billion annually for games on NBC and Peacock. With @asharma and @thesimonetti https://t.co/DWyiB1egz8 — Joe Flint (@JBFlint) April 29, 2024

While that stinks if you’re like me and hate watching games on streaming services, the other ramification is way worse.

Chances are, if NBC gets the package from TNT, that would be the end of the greatest sports studio show of all time: Inside the NBA with Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal.

Maybe NBC would make a play for all four hosts, but normally, when a network acquires a package, it wants to put its own imprint on it. Plus, just snatching up the foursome won’t be that easy. Ernie Johnson does other work for Turner and has worked for them for basically his whole professional life. ESPN would do anything and everything it could to hire Barkley.

In addition, The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand has reported that Amazon will also get a third NBA package in 2025-26. (YAY! More streaming!). It would be more likely that Amazon can make the push to hire the the Inside the NBA crew than NBC because (1) Amazon doesn’t have in-house NBA people; (2) Amazon has more money than anyone; and (3) Amazon still needs credibility as a sports outlet, NBC does not.

But putting Ernie, Kenny, Charles and Shaq on a streaming service for regular season games that hardly anyone is going to watch will, quite frankly, suck. And suck a lot.

And it’s not just about the four personalities. The reason Inside the NBA has become a legendary show has just as much to do with producers, directors and all the behind-the-scenes people as the on-air talent.

If Amazon or NBC brought over all four guys, the show might be similar, but it won’t be the same. And anytime perfection gets messed with, it’s a huge bummer. And Inside the NBA is perfection.

The WSJ pointed out that Turner has the right to match any NBC offer. So there is a glimmer of hope that maybe Inside the NBA remains as is, but the Debbie Downer in me just doesn’t see how Turner drops $2.5 billion per year for NBA games that get marginal ratings. NBC will drop that ridiculous amount of money because they are desperate to add content to Peacock. Turner programming streams on Max, a service on much firmer ground than Peacock.

So while I don’t think Turner will match NBC's offer, I can assure you, I’ve never wanted to be more wrong about a prediction.

2. More potential fallout if Turner loses the NBA: What happens to the man with the best pipes in sports broadcasting, Kevin Harlan?

Obviously, Harlan would get hired by another network in about five seconds. And rightfully so. Just listen to these clips from his call of Monday night’s Lakers-Nuggets game. Nothing but pure electricity.

3. Monday Night Raw was in Kansas City last night and Patrick Mahomes was in attendance. He even mixed it up during a match a little bit, by giving Logan Paul his Super Bowl rings so Paul could use them to punch Jey Uso.

Mahomes was also "confronted” by Braun Strowman before getting some backup from Chiefs offensive linemen, Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith

Making Mahomes a heel in Kansas City was bizarre, but he played it well.

5. Info about The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady that will air this Sunday live on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET has started to trickle in. If you don’t think Bill Belichick roasting Brady will be must-see TV, I don’t know what to tell you.

Man claims to have caught 'time traveler' using his shed in wild video, alleged 'time traveler' fl man sneaks into shed comes out way older day later.

One guy claims to have captured a real-life Marty McFly on camera at his Florida Airbnb -- posting a video that certainly seems to suggest time travel is real ... if you buy this, that is.

A dude named Alec Schaal posted a series of videos this week that has the internet equally mesmerized and stumped -- because it shows what appears to be a dude sneaking onto his property, going into a shed ... and coming out a day later looking way different.

By that, we mean the man purported to be a "time traveler" emerges several years older.

Take a look and you'll see what we mean. Alec says he's got a home in Florida that he rents out as an Airbnb -- and there's a security camera system that alerts him to activity when he's not there. He got pinged to some movement, and says he saw something incredible.

Check it out ... the video appears to show a random young dude wandering onto Alec's property off the street and he moseys around aimlessly before popping into a shed, seemingly for no reason. Alec calls the cops, who come to check it out -- but can't find the guy in there ... even though you never actually see him leave the space. A day later, a big update.

Alec posted footage that seems to show a totally different person exiting the shed out of nowhere -- only this man is elderly ... although, he looks awfully familiar, at least to Alec.

Long story short ... Alec thinks he's got a time traveler on his hands -- and he insists there's no trickery or pranks afoot on his end. Some believe it, others are a bit more incredulous.

Alec says there are no tunnels in his shed, and he's going to the house soon to inspect what could possibly explain this. On its face, however ... you could call it 'Back to the Future,'-ish.

Drones Changed This Civil War, and Linked Rebels to the World

Consumer technologies are altering the course of the battle in Myanmar, and rebel drone units are taking notes on Ukraine and other conflicts.

A man squats as he pilots a drone with a control unit as others watch.

Hannah Beech reported from Karenni State, in Myanmar, and Paul Mozur from Taipei, Taiwan.

In flip-flops and shorts, one of the finest soldiers in a resistance force battling the military junta in Myanmar showed off his weaponry. It was, he apologized, mostly in pieces.

The rebel, Ko Shan Gyi, glued panels of plastic shaped by a 3D printer. Nearby, electrical innards foraged from Chinese-made drones used for agricultural purposes were arrayed on the ground, their wires exposed as if awaiting surgery.

Other parts needed to construct homemade drones, including chunks of Styrofoam studded with propellers, crowded a pair of leaf-walled shacks. Together, they could somewhat grandly be considered the armory of the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force. A laser cutter was poised halfway through carving out a flight control unit. The generator powering the workshop had quit. It wasn’t clear when there would be electricity again.

Despite the ragtag conditions, rebel drone units have managed to upend the power balance in Myanmar. By most measures, the military that wrested power from a civilian administration in Myanmar three years ago is far bigger and better equipped than the hundreds of militias fighting to reclaim the country. The junta has at its disposal Russian fighter jets and Chinese missiles.

But with little more than instructions crowdsourced online and parts ordered from China, the resistance forces have added ballast to what might seem a hopelessly asymmetrical civil war. The techniques they are using would not be unfamiliar to soldiers in Ukraine, Yemen or Sudan.

Across the world, the new abilities packed into consumer technology are changing conflict. Starlink connections provide internet. 3-D printers can mass produce parts. But no single product is more important than the cheap drone.

In Gaza last year, Hamas used low-cost drones to blind Israel’s surveillance-studded checkpoints. In Syria and Yemen, drones fly alongside missiles, forcing American troops to make difficult decisions about whether to use expensive countermeasures to swat down a $500 toy. On both sides of the war in Ukraine, innovation has turned the unassuming drone into a human-guided missile.

The world’s outgunned forces are often learning from each other. Drone pilots in Myanmar describe turning to groups on chat apps like Discord and Telegram to download 3-D printing blueprints for fixed-wing drones. They also gain insight on how to hack through the default software on commercial drones that could give away their locations.

Many also take advantage of the original use of these hobbyist gadgets: the video footage they take. In Ukraine and Myanmar alike, kill videos are set to heart-pumping music and spread on social media to boost morale and help raise money.

“It’s exponential growth, and it’s taking place everywhere,” said Samuel Bendett, a fellow at the Center for New American Security who studies drone warfare. “You can get on YouTube and learn how to assemble, on Telegram you can get a sense of tactics and tips on pilot training.”

In Myanmar, both sides have come to fear the whir of the propeller blades agitating the air above them. But without the air power of the junta, the resistance must rely far more on drones as they fight to overthrow the army and win some sort of civilian rule. Rebel-operated drones have helped capture Myanmar military outposts just by hovering overhead and spooking soldiers into fleeing. They have terrorized the trenches. And they have made possible sweeping offensives into junta-controlled territory, targeting police stations and small army bases.

As his rebel unit’s most skillful pilot, Mr. Shan Gyi said he had racked up dozens of successful strikes by flying drones with gentle flicks of joysticks on a video game controller. Bigger homemade drones can carry almost 70 pounds of bombs that can blow up a house. Most, though, are smaller and carry several 60 millimeter mortar shells, enough to kill soldiers.

“I didn’t play video games as a boy,” Mr. Shan Gyi said. “When I hit the bull’s-eye on the battlefield, I feel so happy.”

‘A Tech Disrupter-Type Mind-Set’

The head of the militia’s drone unit — he goes by the nom de guerre 3D because of his success at printing drone parts — might seem an atypical rebel. A computer technology graduate, 3D recalled the first time he assembled a 3-D printer during his college years.

“Not so hard,” he said.

Looking to make use of his skills when he joined the resistance movement, he first tried to print rifles. When they did not work well, he turned his attention to drones, which he had read were redefining warfare in other parts of the world.

“They had a tech disrupter-type mind-set,” said Richard Horsey, a senior Myanmar adviser at the International Crisis Group. “A lot of innovation happened.”

As 3D set out to build his fighting force, he had no training manual. Instead, he consulted with other young civilians setting up similar units across Myanmar. After the coup and brutally suppressed protests in 2021, young people who had grown up in a digitally connected Myanmar took to the jungle to fight.

Though none of his team’s 10 pilots had flown drones before the coup, they delved into online chat rooms, learning how to convert drones designed to spray pesticides for a more lethal use — against humans.

“The internet is very useful,” 3D said. “If we want, we can talk to people everywhere, in Ukraine, Palestine, Syria.”

Dozens of drone units are scattered across Myanmar, and a few are all-female. In 2022, Ma Htet Htet joined a militia fighting in central Myanmar.

“I was assigned to a cooking role because they hesitated to put me on the front lines simply because I’m a girl,” she said.

Last year, Ms. Htet Htet, now 19, joined a drone unit. The work put her on the front lines, since drone pilots must operate from the heat of a conflict zone. Her unit’s 26-year-old leader is still recovering from shrapnel injuries she sustained during battle. The women make their own bombs, mixing TNT and aluminum powder, then layer metal balls and gunpowder around the volatile core.

From October 2021 to June 2023, the nonprofit organization Centre for Information Resilience verified 1,400 online videos of drone flights carried out by groups fighting the Myanmar military, the majority of which were attacks. By early 2023, the group said it was documenting 100 flights per month.

Over time, drone use has shifted from off-the-shelf quadcopters made by companies like DJI to a broader mix, including improvised drones like the ones 3D makes.

A Game of Cat-and-Mouse

Recently, 3D went on a shopping spree. He was seeking a solution perfected in the trenches of Ukraine’s front lines for a problem he and his pilots were facing: Russian-made jammers that could take out drones by blocking their signals.

Within a few months of 3D forming his drone army, the junta started using jamming technology from China and Russia to scramble the GPS signals that guide drones to their targets.

3D has been searching for ways to fight back. When the Myanmar army sends up its drones to pursue rebel fighters, it must pause the jamming, opening a window through which he can dispatch his own aerial fleet, too.

Newer first-person-view drones, or F.P.V.s, offer another potential solution to the problem of getting through electronic defenses. Hobbyist racing drones repurposed into human-piloted weapons, the F.P.V.s can be less vulnerable to jamming because they are manually controlled rather than guided by GPS, and they can sometimes be piloted around the interference emitted by drone defenses.

The newer drones have reshaped the conflict in Ukraine, and parts to make F.P.V.s have been dribbling in to the Myanmar rebels in recent months. But they are much harder to fly than conventional drones, operated with goggles that allow the pilot to see from the perspective of the drone. In Ukraine, pilots often train for hundreds of hours on simulators before getting the chance to fly in combat.

On a recent afternoon when the rebel force’s generator was working, one drone pilot, Ko Sai Laung, sat in a bamboo shack sharpening his skills on a laptop loaded with Ukrainian drone simulation software.

He cradled a joystick in his hands, occasionally wiping away the sweat trickling down his face as he piloted a virtual drone above simulated Ukrainian farmland toward Russian tanks. He crashed and crashed again.

“I’m tired,” he said, rubbing his eyes. “But I have to keep practicing.”

Targeting the Capital

On April 4, a shadow Myanmar government formed by ousted lawmakers and others announced that a fleet of drones, launched by a pro-democracy armed group, had attacked three targets in Myanmar’s capital: the military headquarters, an air base and the house of Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, the junta leader.

Despite the shadow government’s excitement, none of the kamikaze drones caused significant damage that day. An analysis by The New York Times of satellite imagery found no apparent evidence of smoke, burning or other signs of a successful strike.

Still, the simple act of flying drones so close to the nerve center of Myanmar’s military is itself a potent psychological weapon. Naypyidaw, Myanmar’s capital, was built from scratch in the early 2000s as a fortress city.

The objective of the drone strike on Naypyidaw, said Dr. Sasa, a spokesman for the shadow government, was not so much to kill but to send a signal to the junta that it “should not feel comfortable freely roaming in and out.”

Such operations, however, are a one-way mission for the painstakingly built drones, and can require sacrificing dozens of them at a time in the hope that even one might make it through defenses. The opposition fighters lack ample financing and a reliable supply line for parts. Parts and munitions that can be assembled by hand into one favored multirotor drone design that can carry heavier loads costs more than $27,500, 3D said.

Still, the battles, and the casualties, grind on.

On March 20, Mr. Shan Gyi, the rebel force’s star pilot, was flying a drone from a spot on the front line. Suddenly, a much more menacing flying machine — a junta fighter jet — shrieked overhead. Its bombs struck, 3D explained later, and Mr. Shan Gyi was killed in action. He was 22.

Our Coverage of the War in Ukraine

News and Analysis

President Biden and Ukraine’s allies have invoked a sense of urgency over weapon deliveries. But there are logistical hurdles , and Ukraine has little time to lose.

The United States has accused Russia of using chemical weapons , including poison gas, “as a method of warfare” against Ukrainian forces, in violation of a global ban on the use of such weapons.

Russian troops have captured or entered around a half-dozen villages on Ukraine’s eastern front, highlighting the deteriorating situation in the region  for Ukrainian forces as they wait for long-needed U.S. military aid.

Signs of Trauma: As Ukrainian prisoners of war return with physical and psychological wounds stemming from torture by their Russian captors, they are being sent back to active duty — often without adequate treatment .

Patriotism or Survival: As the war drags on, communities in western Ukraine that were steadfast  in their commitment to the war effort have been shaken by the unending violence on the front line.

Resuming U.S. Military Aid: Weapons from the support package, considered “a lifeline” for Ukraine’s military , could be arriving on the battlefield within days . But experts say it could take weeks before there is a direct impact on the war . What would $60 billion buy ?
