A Guide to Amazon Rainforest Tour Prices

Tambopata Amazon Tours

Here is a guide to tour prices for Amazon Rainforest tours.

We will also mention what usually accounts for the a differences, what you get for your money, and what to look at for different budgets.

We will break the article down to cover the different types of tours on offer in the Amazon. But keep in mind the main factors that determine a tour’s price. These include:

  • Fuel used to get to the lodge or on tour (this helps explain why cruises usually cost more than rainforest lodges)
  • Exclusivity, such as a private guide or a small-group cruise or tour
  • Quality of accommodation
  • Quality of service
  • Guide ability
  • The wildlife you’re likely to see

Another factor to consider is the length of time you wish to visit. If you’re planning on short tours of 2 or 3 days, make sure you pick an area of fantastic diversity close to a gateway town or city. This means you don’t waste time traveling to and from the lodge. Remember that the day-to-day price decreases the longer you choose to stay.

To maximize your experience, no matter which budget you’re looking for, focus your attention on tours in an area of fantastic diversity. This means an area of Amazon forest that hasn’t been damaged by human activity. The general rule is that forest very close to cities and towns has often been damaged and disturbed. The wildlife has left the area many years ago, but there are exceptions. We will cover these later.

We will go over some of the considerations for Amazon tour prices. And we will suggest three of the top tours for each to give you examples of:

  • Budget Tours
  • Luxury Tours
  • Lodge-Based Tours
  • Cruise-Based Tours
  • Deep Amazon Lodges

Short Amazon Tours

Budget tours.

If you’re interested in a more budget conscious Amazon tour, make sure you choose an area of high biodiversity close to an Amazon gateway town. One of the best gateways for a budget tour is the Amazon town of Puerto Maldonado in the Peruvian Amazon. This is just a short flight south of Cusco and is easily accessible from Lima.

Puerto Maldonado is a great place because the protected area of Tambopata National Reserve is so close to town. You can be in the reserve in a little over 20 minutes, which means you don’t waste time traveling to and from your lodge of choice

Lodge-Based Amazon Tours

Lodge-based tours are often a lower cost than cruise-based experiences. This is because less fuel is used on tour, which is often the highest cost for Amazon tour operators.

This also explain why deeper Amazon tours are often a higher cost than lodges closer to a gateway town. But we will cover this a little later.

Pink Dolphin - Amazon Rainforest Tour Prices

A lodge-based experience allows you a more intimate experience with the rainforest. And it means you can spend more time exploring a specific area. The advantage of this is that the guides have usually spent years exploring the area for the best spots to see different animals and plants. This is if you choose one of the higher quality lodges.

These lodges are often positioned after years exploring the Amazon to find the best sites. And this is why the best lodges are often near areas for almost guaranteed wildlife sightings. Usually, they are near protected areas, clay licks, or at the edge of wildlife-filled Amazonian lakes.

We will suggest three of our recommended lodge-based experiences to see fantastic wildlife. These will be suited to different budgets and time frames. Each of these lodges has its own fantastic feature for exploring the forest, such as a canopy zipline, tall canopy tower, or a canopy swing bridge.

Amazon FAQs

Thinking about an Amazon trip? Here’s a list of frequently asked questions we often hear from our guests. Visit our Amazon Vacation Planning page for in-depth Amazon travel tips.

For many reasons, the best time to visit the Amazon is from June – November. During this time, the Amazon Rainforest experiences its dry season – meaning the water levels are lower, allowing access to forested areas and greater opportunities for land-based exploration excursions. However, it’s important to note that as the largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon experiences approximately 250 days of rain a year, spanning all months. Despite having varying seasons, like the “wet” season (December – May), travelers should expect a few hours of light rain at any point in the year. The rain is what continues to keep the rainforests and its rare flora and fauna alive.

Yes, traveling to the Amazon Rainforest is safe! In Brazil’s main center for visiting the Amazon – Manaus, you’ll always have guided activities with expert naturalist guides to help you navigate the jungle. Outside of town make sure you have all recommended vaccinations, according to your doctor and that you take a Malaria prophylaxis. Although along the Rio Negro, where most travelers go, there are very few mosquitoes!

All Amazon lodges and cruises offer jungle walks guided by local professionals to get to know the vegetation. Discover the importance of medicinal plants, spot vibrant macaws and parrots, and learn to identify the calls of rare animals. While listening to the sounds of the animals in the jungle is a common experience, actually spotting the fauna can be difficult. Travelers may consider the Pantanal wetlands for wildlife spotting, as it is less dense than the Amazon. Piranha fishing is also very popular. Local guides can also take you to different areas where other animal species can be seen, such as the pink river dolphins or macaws. Alligator (jacare) spotting at night is one of the most fascinating activities.

In general, the Amazon Jungle is not dangerous for travelers! Animals in the Amazon are not aggressive, as there is plenty of food available. Even the aforementioned “alligator” is a “caiman,” the peaceful cousin of the crocodiles you have heard about from Australia and the Florida Everglades. Your guide will always make you aware of toxic plants or spiders. Most guides are from the local communities, knowing well the healing properties of the plants that surround you. The one element to be aware of is Malaria: there is no vaccination, rather prophylaxis you take before traveling to the Amazon and stop taking as soon as you depart.

If visiting the Amazon in Brazil, you’ll get to the Amazon rainforest mostly by flying into Manaus, or for a more remote experience, by flying into Alta Floresta, with its luxurious lodge, or into Tefé for the most remote experience possible. In Peru, the main access points are Puerto Maldonado, Manu and Iquitos. In Bolivia, it is Rurrenabaque, Coca in Ecuador and Leticia in Colombia.

No – There are different areas with different flora and fauna. The main difference is caused by the altitude. Most of the Brazilian part is at sea-level or only slightly above it, whereas in Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia, the rainforest sits on higher ground. The higher, the less dense the fauna is. Therefore, for example, if you are interested in birding, you would prefer the Peruvian Rainforest, as, due to the fauna being less dense, it is easier to spot birds. The Peruvian Amazon also offers some of the most luxurious river cruise ships such as the Aria. The Brazilian Amazon Rainforest offers travelers a wide range of lodges and cruises. Embark on a large cruise ship such as Hurtigruten or Iberostar, or a small, intimate cruise such as the Tucano. The Ecuadorian Amazon boasts Yasuni National Park, home to millions of species of plants, birds, insects, and mammals.

Typically, you would stay at a lodge or cruise along the river. It depends on what kind of experience interests the traveler(s). The advantage of a lodge is that your stay in the Amazon Rainforest can begin at any time, whereas cruises have set departure dates. While cruises offer plenty of departure dates, it can be challenging to be on a strict schedule. On the other hand, the advantage of a river cruise is that you see a vast extent of the rainforest, with different animals and vegetation, without needing to turn back after each excursion. Cruises also tend to include a stop at local communities where you can experience and learn about the lives of Amazonian locals. Whether you experience the Amazon on a cruise ship or nestled in a lodge, you’re sure to have a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Amazon Rainforest Tours & Travel Guide

Amazon Rainforest Attractions & Landmarks Guide

Exploring the Amazon rainforest, whether by a small ship , river cruise ship , jungle lodges, or camping expedition, promises an unforgettable rainforest excursion.

Spanning over two million square miles across Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, it's the largest rainforest in the world. The Amazon offers unparalleled biodiversity and natural beauty. Immerse yourself in the eerie calls of howler monkeys as you search for elusive wildlife like macaws, sloths, and jaguars during your Amazon river trip or stay in the Amazon lodges.

Discover remote villages and learn about indigenous cultures, all while guided by expert local guides and tour operators recommended by Travelstride.

Rurrenabaque, accessible from La Paz by a short flight or a scenic bus journey through the mountains, serves as Bolivia's entry point to the Amazon. Here, travelers can embark on tours of both the pampas and the jungle. For the budget-conscious, Bolivia is usually the place to find the cheapest Amazon tours.

Pampas Tours: These tours offer the opportunity to explore the wetlands bordering the rainforest, providing excellent wildlife sightings. Hop into a riverboat, listen to the sounds of the rainforest, and spot capybaras, caimans, monkeys, and colorful birds along the riverbank.

Search for Anacondas: Some tours even include the chance to plod through swampland in search of anacondas, although it's essential to be cautious and avoid touching them. Reviews are a reliable way to ensure the tour operator is reputable.

Swimming With Pink River Dolphins: A highlight of pampas tours is the chance to swim with pink river dolphins, a thrilling experience best enjoyed in the late afternoon when the water is warmer.

Jungle Tours: Jungle tours from Rurrenabaque vary in duration, ranging from two days to a month. These immersive experiences involve trekking through dense forestation, camping in the wilderness, and cooking dinner over an open fire. Visitors may also enjoy activities such as fishing in the river or crafting handmade souvenirs.

You can travel to the Amazon rainforest from various points across Brazil , providing unforgettable experiences amid the lush wilderness.

Pantanal Wetlands: Like Bolivia's pampas, the Pantanal wetlands in southern Brazil offer prime wildlife viewing opportunities. Tours typically depart from Campo Grande or Cuiaba and offer a range of activities such as canoeing, piranha fishing, boat trips, walking excursions, and river floats.

Visitors can expect sightings of capybaras, caimans, giant otters, and even jaguars. Expert guides enhance the experience and increase the chances of spotting elusive wildlife like tapirs and giant anteaters.

Rainforest Expeditions: Venturing deeper into the Brazilian rainforest, tours are often conducted by boat, whether on a luxurious cruise liner or a traditional riverboat with hammocks. Along the way, travelers can spot pink dolphins, caimans, and monkeys and even try their hand at piranha fishing from their Amazon river cruise ships.

Guided jungle walks may lead to close encounters with tarantulas and other fascinating creatures. Many tours also include overnight stays in ecolodges, offering the chance to immerse oneself in the sights and sounds of the surrounding nature.

Peru can be a popular jumping-off point into the Amazon. Many adventurous tourists combine Machu Picchu and Amazon jungle tours. While some shorter trips start from Cusco, adventurous types can also head to northern Peru for deep jungle treks. Excursions are undertaken on foot or by boat, and highlights include spotting river otters, monkeys, caimans, and macaws.

The Amazon River basin in Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse places on earth. Here, you'll get to stay in ecolodges in the rainforest, surrounded by vibrant hummingbirds and butterflies. You can enjoy rainforest treks, boat rides, and wildlife spotting.

For a truly immersive experience, meet and stay with indigenous tribes living in the Amazon. Reaching these communities can be challenging since Ecuador's rainforests are highly isolated and hard to reach.

You can also fly into the community on a puddle-jumper aircraft and stay in one of the lodges the villagers own for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Discover the adventurous side of the Amazon in Colombia , offering a sense of exploration and untamed wilderness.

Few visitors choose Colombia for their Amazon trip, meaning you may have this unspoiled land to yourself and a higher chance of seeing wildlife if you visit the Amazon rainforest from Colombia. It may also mean fewer resources and tour options, but you have nothing to worry about if you're visiting the Amazon rainforest with Travelstride's suggested guided tours.

Like Ecuador, you can experience the unique culture of indigenous tribes by staying with them in Colombia. Make local handicrafts and try traditional delicacies like mojojoy, a fried worm in palm trees.

Why Consider an Amazon Travel Package?

Experiencing the Amazon Rainforest with a guided travel package is more secure than venturing into the wilderness alone. Experienced guides are equipped to navigate the complexities of the rainforest terrain and handle any unforeseen circumstances.

Moreover, knowledgeable guides enhance the experience by offering insights into the region's ecology, wildlife, and indigenous cultures, enriching the journey with educational opportunities.

Going with a group fosters camaraderie among like-minded travelers, creating memorable shared experiences and ensuring a sense of community throughout the adventure. In essence, a guided Amazon rainforest package ensures a well-organized and immersive exploration, maximizing enjoyment and minimizing risks.

Popular Stops Along an Amazon Rainforest Tour

Diverse experiences, from wildlife encounters to cultural immersion, make the following stops popular for travelers exploring the Amazon rainforest.

Manaus, Brazil: Known as the gateway to the Brazilian Amazon, Manaus offers access to the Meeting of Waters, where the Rio Negro and Solimões rivers converge.

Puerto Maldonado, Peru: A bustling jungle town near the Tambopata National Reserve, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing and ecolodge stays.

When Is the Best Time To Visit the Amazon Rainforest?

Remember that rain can occur in the rainforest at any time of year, so be prepared for occasional showers regardless of when you visit.

Ultimately, the best time for your trip depends on what activities you want to pursue and your tolerance for humidity and rain.

Amazon Rainforest Weather: Seasons & Best Time To Visit

What our customers are saying.

Happy Couple On Skiff In The Amazon

What Is One Thing I Shouldn’t Miss In The Amazon?

Of all the amazing sights in the Amazon, the Meeting of Waters in Brazil shouldn’t be missed. At the confluence between the black waters of the Rio Negro and the sandy whitewater of the Solimões River the two rivers’ waters run side by side without much mixing for over 6 kilometers (3.7 miles).

When Is The Best Time Of Year To Go To The Amazon?

The best time of year to visit the Amazon is during the shoulder season between the wet and dry seasons (varies by country). At this time of year river levels remain high, allowing Amazon river cruises to still navigate deep into the rainforest, and the fine weather draws out much of the wildlife.

If seeing the Amazon rainforest at its lushest and getting up close to lots of birds and mammals (and enjoying slightly cooler temperatures) sounds most attractive, then the wet season with its higher river levels might be your best choice.

If jungle hikes, fishing for piranha and other Amazon River fish species , or spotting exotic migratory birds appeals most to you, while still having the chance to see capuchin monkeys , kinkajou, and other mammals, you might be happier choosing the warmer, dry season when water levels are lower.

Our guests are awed by the Amazon at whatever time of year they visit. If you can’t decide, perhaps the best solution is to choose one season this year and the other in the future!

Is The Amazon A Good Family Destination?

An Amazon vacation is a great option for adventurous families with adaptable kids – after all, where better to inspire and educate them about the natural world! Bear in mind younger children may be affected by the humidity levels, and noisy little ones may reduce the chances of spotting wildlife.

Many of our Amazon guides have children themselves and are skilled in keeping young ones entertained, and are naturally experts in spotting any potential natural dangers you may encounter. It should be noted many Amazon river cruises have minimum age requirements of 7 and above, but jungle lodges and private charters are often more flexible.

Can You Swim In The Amazon River?

Swimming in the main channels of the Amazon river is generally not advised due to strong currents and boat traffic. Swimming in smaller tributaries and lakes is safer (especially the Amazon’s blackwater rivers ), but always follow the safety advice of your guide.

What Activities Can People Do In The Amazon Rainforest?

Most people head to the Amazon to spot wildlife, and this can be done on daytime jungle walks, from canopy walkways and lookout towers, or on nighttime boat safaris. Other common Amazon Rainforest activities include piranha fishing and local community visits.

As previously mentioned, more adventurous travelers may swim in the Amazon (sometimes with pink river dolphins!) or go kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, or even tree climbing. In certain parts of the Amazon, float plane flights can also be arranged to get a real bird’s-eye view of the rainforest.

How Much Does An Amazon Cruise Cost?

The cost of an Amazon cruise typically depends on itinerary length, boat comfort level and cabin category, although seasonal and single supplements may also apply. Short cruises of 4 days cost between $900 – $4,400 pp, and longer cruises of 7+ days from $1,800 – $9,600 pp based on double occupancy.

Some other Amazon river cruise cost factors to consider:

  • If you wish to privately charter an Amazon river boat , costs can be significantly more, but can actually work out cheaper per person if your group fills the boat.
  • There are also additional costs involved in accessing the remote parts of the Amazon when cruises depart from, namely the domestic flights to Iquitos (Peru), Coca (Ecuador), Trinidad (Bolivia), Manaus or Santarém (Brazil).
  • Port fees and entrances to the national parks are typically included in your cruise cost.
  • For those considering a luxury Amazon cruise, Rainforest Cruises are proud to offer a best-rate guarantee thanks to our unique relationships with operators.
  • To get your cruise cheaper, keep apprised of the latest Amazon river cruise deals .

3 days - Tambopata Amazon Jungle

We did the 3 day 2 night tour with this company and it was easily one of our favourite things we did on our South America trip!! We got airport transfers which was a great bonus and made the whole trip very easy on our part. Our guide was brilliant! He was very knowledgeable on all the wildlife of the local area as well as local conservation efforts. He was always very happy to answer any questions our group had and was just generally, a lovely addition to our group! The food on this trip was also genuinely amazing! (I was gutted that we didn't get a chance to tell the chef how much we loved his food before we left!) We stayed in our own little cabin which was lovely. I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone who is considering it - spending a few days in the Amazon was such a unique experience. And this company and the 3 day tour was just brilliant - We had a great itinerary and saw a good mix of wildlife over the 3 days. It was a prefect mix of trips and activities as well as good food and enough down time as well that the trip felt relaxing as well. Couldn't recommend more!

Ecuador Treasures Bucket List 8 Days Tour Tour

Ecuador Treasures Bucket List 8 Days Tour

We had the most remarkable family tour with Guidecuador Travel. Not only everything was perfect, but we felt, in every instance, that our guide Alejandro and his local guides truly cared about us, both the kids and adults, and did their best to make this trip memorable. For our well-traveled children (aged 9 and 12) this definitely has become the most eye-opening, adventurous, and stunning journey of their life - something they will remember, draw upon, and cherish for many years to come. For adults, we were pleasantly surprised by the diversity of our trip: from the Andes trough the Jungle, from ever-changing and filled with surprises meals offered every day , We definitely will be back to South America! Thank you again..

Lima to Buenos Aires: Deserts & Dancing Tour

Lima to Buenos Aires: Deserts & Dancing

A really good mix of hiking, culture, and exploration. I really enjoyed this tour, as it covers so many places that aren't otherwise accessible on your own. Arguable, Inca Trail was the highlight, but there was so much more. Ballesta Islands, Lake Titicaca, the Yungas Road in Bolivia, steak in Salta, etc etc. I enjoyed Bolivia much more than I expected (the museums in Potosi were world class). You have free time to explore the big cities such as La Paz on your own if you choose. Only downside were some inflexibility in restaurant choice. Overall a good trip I'll remember for a long time.

If you like primitive camping this is the trip for you. Disconnecting was just what I needed to reset. Make sure you bring long pants and plenty of insect spray if mosquitoes bother you. The Great South American Journey: Quito to Rio Adventure Tour

The Great South American Journey: Quito to Rio Adventure

This is the best G adventures tour I have done in terms of itinerary and people I was traveling with. I had a fantastic time with a great group of people. The only feedback I will give G is I feel the CEO guides are pressured to get 9s or 10s in their reviews and hence transmit that to us which made me not leave a review on the G website as I felt I could not be completely honest without harming the tour guides' rating. This culture should change if you want constructive feedback. I loved all 4 of my CEOs on my tour but 2 of them were outstanding (10/10s) and I felt as a result of above, I could not give them the credit they were due without causing harm to the other 2 who were also good but more 7/10s.

La Selva Amazon Lodge 4 days Tour Tour

La Selva Amazon Lodge 4 days Tour

As a traveler, I must debunk the news outlets misconception that Ecuador is not safe. My recent trip proved otherwise, I was fortunate to have a very friendly tour guide who not only ensured my safety but also made my journey unforgettable. Exploring Ecuador's great nature revealed breathtaking scenic views that left me in awe of this country's beauty. People genuinely care about their environment. Everyone seemed dedicated to preserving Ecuador's natural wonders. Ecuador is a country that works tirelessly to protect its environment. I was impressed by the sustainable initiatives in place, from eco-friendly accommodations reserved by my guide to strict conservation policies. My guide always available, thanks to his flexibility and punctuality. Whether it was adjusting my itinerary or ensuring timely pickups, My guide made every effort to accommodate my needs. Lastly, I was amazed by my guide's extensive knowledge of Ecuador's history, culture, and biodiversity. His insights added depth to my experiences and enriched my journey. What people love about Amazon Rainforest Solo Tours

An amazing but very full on adventure. From day one, right through to the end it was very eventful, busy, challenging but most of all extremely rewarding. We had no expectations we we began the tour but our expectations were exceeded. We were blessed with mostly great weather, amazing scenery, fabulous fellow travellers and fantastic and very supportive guides.
This trip was truly the trip of a lifetime. Jesus really submerges you into the Peruvian culture and the three days you’re there, you are nonstop with activities. Our guide was so knowledgeable and he made the trip. His family grew up in the rainforest so he was able to tell you the history about most things there (the families, the foods, the animals etc). We went during rainy season, and still had a wonderful time. If you’re looking for adventure, meeting wonderful people, and being in nature - this trip is for you!

It is the gateway to explore the Tambopata National Reserve, an area rich in lush vegetation, amazing landscapes, and wildlife, where spectacular waterfalls feed the many lagoons that herons, kingfishers, caimans, and giant otters populate, where hundreds of macaws come daily in search of minerals on the claylicks, where monkeys and tapirs run free, where birds nest near palm swamps and where hikers take time to rest on the sandy beaches of the river.

If you are looking for an authentic experience in the Peruvian Amazon jungle, rest assured that Eco Amazonia Lodge will deliver on all your expectations.

Important notes

Trip details, day 1 boat ride to the lodge, caiman lagoon excursion.

You driver will be waiting for you at Padre Aldamiz, Puerto Maldonado international airport. After a 15-minute transfer to the port of Puerto Capitanía you will board a motorized riverboat to sail down the Madre de Dios river to your lodge (2 hours).

On your way out of town, you will glide past farmland dedicated to plantations and livestock. The riverbanks rolling to the side of your boad host colorful plants like the large-flowered heliconias and they are often visited by Amazonian wildlife such as capybaras, caimans, water turtles, herons, cormorants, carrion birds and various birds of prey.

The lodge's staff will be waiting to welcome you on the property with a well-deserved fresh fruit juice before taking you to your comfortable private bungalow. Once you are settled in your room, a sumptuous lunch will be served in the rustic-chic dining room.

In the afternoon, your specialized guide will take you through an interpretive trail, conveniently signposted, to Caiman Cocha, a little lagoon where black caimans and the more common caimans abound. They feed on the rich fish population that inhabits the pond.

At dusk, enjoy nature's warmest performance while the sun sets over the Amazon basking the jungle in spectacular colors with blaring hues and intensities.

Back at the lodge, feast on a delicious dinner with Amazonian flavour and enjoy some free time to share unforgettable moments at the bar. With an excellent game room and an extensive bar list, relax under the southern stars as the melody of the jungle lulls you to a sweet dreamy night.

Day 2 LAKE APU VICTOR, MONKEY ISLAND

After breakfast, your guides will take you on a hike through the deep forest along clear signposted trails. On the way, you will cross the river to reach high-elevation forests, before going downhill to explore floodable forests and eventually climb up again. Throughout your journey into the wild, your guide will open your eyes to an environment teeming with flora and fauna.

Learn about the medicinal plants and fruit trees sustaining the animal and human populations in the Amazon forests. Among these well-used resources are the moriche palm, mahogany, chestnut, catahua, cedar, trumpet-wood, copaiba and shihuahuaco.

This is also the opportunity to spot large mammals like the Brazilian tapir and the white-lipped peccary, the peculiar rodents of the jungle like the giant otter, the capybara, the spotted paca and the armadillo, the playful primates like the coto, the howler monkey, the squirrel monkey, the lion monkey and the black-cap capuchin monkey, the elusive reptiles like the iguana and the bothrops atrox and the numerous birds like the guan, the partridge, the golden parakeet and the blue, yellow and red macaw. In the rainy jungle you will see insects such as butterflies (Lepidoptera), scarabs (Coleoptera), crickets, cicadas, ants and lots of centipedes and millipedes.

Stop at the majestic Lake Apu Victor with its crystal clear waters, surrounded by marshes and giant trees.

Head up to the observation deck, with its breathtaking view over the lake. From there you can watch the active canopy of the rainforest with its parrots, macaws, toucans, camungos, shanshos and herons as well as the caimans and turtles in the lake below. The giant otter, one of the most cutest critters of the rainforest might also make a shy appearance.

A wide variety of fishes enters Lake Apu Victor with the flooding of (heavy) rainy season. In addition, there are other species of fauna associated to the lake, like the yellow-footed tortoise, the mata mata, the twist-necked turtle, the freshwater blenny, the kinkajou, the white-tailed deer, the Central American agoutis and the giant otter of the Amazon rainforest.

Back in the lodge, a refreshing lunch will be waiting for you.

In the afternoon, your specialized guide will take you to Monkey Island, a unique island river, a short boat ride from the lodge up the Madre de Dios River. Amidst extraordinary landscapes and exuberant vegetation, meet the various species of monkeys in their natural habitat. Maquisapas, capuchins, small lion monkeys, frailes, cotos along with other Amazonian mammals like the coati and the sloth and of course a great variety of birds.

End your visit to the island with another extraordinary sunset before heading back to the lodge downstream.

Enjoy a relaxing evening with an exquisite dinner.

Day 3 LOST LAGOON, FREE TIME OR BOTANICAL GARDEN VISIT

After breakfast, set off on to explore the primary forest with a local guide.

Huking through untouched parts of the forest this interpretive tour follows well-maintained tracks. The path crosses many rope bridges over the tributary streams of the Madre De Dios river where fauna and flora thrive.

Your guide will point out ornamental plants with unparalleled beauty on your way to the Lost Cocha.

As the river beds change with the season they leave behind wetland systems, lakes, ponds and lagoons like the spectacular Lost Cocha.

Wetlands play a great part in the biodiversity of the Amazon providing a perfect ecosystem for a substantial biological source of endemic species and an ideal shelter for mammals. These swamps make 60% of the area protected and restored by the Eco Amazonia Lodge.  The presence of moriche palm is very important for Amazonian ethnic groups. It is a mystery plant considered to be the mother of the forest or the tree of life.

The swamp is home to jealous guardians like the jaguar, considered the son of the swamp, the anaconda, the world's biggest snake, the black caiman, guardian that punishes those that dare steal the female moriche palm fruit and the owl that sees everything from its dwelling at the top of the trees, to cure all ills.

Climb up to the Concha's observation platform and from this lookout, you will be able to grasp the vastness covered by this magic place and you will be able to make out two types of swamps: thick and mixed.

Back on the ground, take a pleasant walk around the Lost Cocha with the hope to spot the Pteronurabrasiliensis, the Amazon giant otter, the biggest in the otter family and one of the most impressive animals in the jungle.

Back at the lodge, enjoy the fresh air while savouriong your exquisite lunch.

Free time or botanical garden visit.

This evening you will be served another delicious dinner and have time to relax or enjoy a fun night at the bar and game room.

Day 4 GAMINATA OR BRIOLO RIVER, FREE TIME OR BOTANICAL GARDEN VISIT

After breakfast, start your day sailing through the magic Amazon rainforest on the Madre de Dios River all the way to the Gamitana or Briolo rivers for a fun and refreshing experience.

Dive into the crystal clear waters for a relaxing swim and cast your line to catch some of the local fish.

Hiking in the area, you will be able to spot countless birds, caimans, turtles while marveling at the majestic panorama over the Madre de Dios river.

Visit a local farming family in the heart of the rainforest along the banks of Madre de Dios River.

Back at the lodge, you will get to enjoy a refreshing lunch.

Farewell dinner.
