Which Years Of Used Chrysler Voyagers Are Most Reliable?

Black Chrysler Voyager

Not all Chrysler Voyager years are created equal.

CoPilot Compare breaks down pricing and feature differences between Chrysler Voyager years so you can find the sweet spot between value AND reliability.

Chrysler Voyager by Rudolf Stricker - CC-BY-SA-4.0

The popularity of minivans had indeed declined compared to their peak in the early 2000s. This change in consumer preference is primarily due to the rise of SUVs and crossover vehicles, which became popular due to their versatility, off-road capability, and stylish design. That said, minivans still hold a significant market niche and are popular among certain buyers, particularly families.

When it comes to minivans, the most popular options include the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Chrysler Pacifica. However, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly minivan, you should probably check out the Chrysler Voyager.

First launched in 1988, the Voyager has seen several redesigns, each time adapting to new trends and technologies. Basically, Chrysler took the lowest trim of the Pacifica and converted it into the Voyager from an old Plymouth model.

THE CHRYSLER VOYAGER YEARS TO AVOID

To prevent wasting time and money on your next car, avoid purchasing Voyager years with extensive issues. Read on to learn more about the Chrysler Voyager years to avoid , the worst overall year, and other critical information.

If you’re searching for the most reliable Chrysler Voyager year, you’ve come to the right place. For today’s buyers’ guide, we look at recent Voyager models to determine the most reliable years and models to avoid.

2000-2003 Chrysler Voyager

With the 2000 model, all Plymouth Voyagers became Chrysler as the former brand was phased out. Then, the 2001 model year marked a significant redesign for the aging minivan.

Avoid: 2000 Chrysler Voyager

The 2000 Chrysler Voyager is harder for us to recommend due to its age and known reliability issues. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2000 Voyager recorded 171 complaints and eight recalls. One of the main reasons why you should avoid this model year is the problematic transmission.

A frustrated owner claimed their van produced a whistling sound after the warranty of 30,000 miles ran out at 40,000 miles. Eventually, the transmission just failed to shift. Even though the dealership fixed it, the transmission acted up again at 103,000 miles. Replacing or rebuilding the transmission may cost you thousands.

You don’t want to buy a car - you want to get the best deal on the car you’re looking for. The CoPilot app will notify you if there’s a similar vehicle in your area at a better price, so you’re always certain you got the best deal available.

Avoid: 2001 Chrysler Voyager

Although the 2001 Chrysler Voyager was more reliable than last year, this redesigned minivan had numerous complaints and issues. Some commonly reported issues include transmission problems and engine issues.

As for the transmission problem, many owners have complained about experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Shifting Problems: Some owners have reported issues with the transmission not shifting properly, or refusing to shift into certain gears. This can cause the vehicle to feel sluggish or unresponsive.
  • Premature Transmission Failure: In some cases, owners have reported complete transmission failure at relatively low mileage.
  • Transmission Leaks: Some Chrysler vehicles, including the Voyager, have been reported to develop leaks in the transmission, which can cause the transmission fluid to drop to unsafe levels and cause damage.
  • ‘Limp Mode’ Issues: Some vehicles may go into “limp mode,” a safety feature designed to protect the engine and transmission from further damage by limiting the vehicle’s speed.

At CoPilot, except for a few exceptions, we always recommend avoiding the first production or redesign years of any car because of potential issues not caught during testing – the 2001 Voyager is no exception.

THE BEST USED SUVS UNDER $10,000

We looked into price, reliability, features, and more to create this list of the best used SUVs under $10k on the market today. Take a look - some of the best used SUVs have gone mostly overlooked or forgotten.

Buy: 2003 Chrysler Voyager

For the first lineup of the minivan, the most reliable Chrysler Voyager year is the 2003 iteration. For starters, it doesn’t have too many complaints, and the few ones that are there are mostly minor issues. Most complaints filed via the NHTSA were about the Voyager’s electrical system .

A complainant reported that while cruising at 50 mph, the lights inexplicably began to flash on and off, and ultimately turned off completely. This issue first occurred when the car had approximately 30,000 miles on the odometer, and according to the complainant, it has progressively worsened since its onset.

Regardless, such reports are infrequent and primarily consist of minor issues.

2020-2022 Chrysler Voyager

In 2020, Chrysler brought back the voyager after a long hiatus. This time, the Chrysler Voyager was slotted below its more popular sibling, the Pacifica, and marketed as the lower-cost offering.

Buy: 2020 Chrysler Voyager

The return of the Voyager was met with positive reception from customers and critics alike. CarandDriver gave the 2020 Voyager a respectable rating of 8.5 out of 10, citing affordable pricing and good fuel economy as the minivan’s strengths.

Under the hood, the 2020 Voyager was identical to the Pacifica, housing a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 287 horsepower and offers a good balance of power and efficiency. Like other minivans, the Voyager provides plenty of room for passengers and cargo. It can seat up to seven passengers and features Chrysler’s innovative Stow ‘n Go seating for added cargo flexibility.

As a relatively newer model, there’s little data about the Voyager’s reliability. As such, there are little to no complaints regarding this model year. Safety-wise, the 2020 Voyager had an impressive performance in NHTSA’s various crashworthiness tests and earned a 5-star overall safety rating . The 2020 Voyager includes a rearview camera as a standard feature, with available advanced safety features like rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

THE BEST USED LUXURY CARS ON THE MARKET

Buying a used or CPO luxury car is one of the smartest buys you can make - you can get a lot of car for not much money. You can pick up a three-year-old luxury car for about half of what you’d pay new. Check out this list of the best used luxury cars on the market to find the best deals.

Buy: 2021 Chrysler Voyager

This year marked the discontinuation of the Grand Dodge Caravan, which means your budget minivan option has shrunken down to one: the Chrysler Voyager. The 2021 Chrysler Voyager had generally favorable reviews, particularly for its affordability and practicality as a minivan.

The 2021 Chrysler Voyager was powered by the same 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 287 horsepower. This gives the Voyager minivan a 0-60 mph acceleration in 7.3 seconds – pretty good for a family-oriented vehicle.

Regarding safety, the 2021 Voyager comes equipped with a basic set of standard safety features. However, the most advanced safety features are only optional add-ons, whereas many competitors offer these as standard. Despite this, the 2021 model has been awarded a 5-star rating from the NHTSA and has generally received positive evaluations from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

On the downside, as of 2023, the Voyager lacked comprehensive reliability data and has not been rated by organizations like J.D. Power or Consumer Reports. Nonetheless, the minivan has registered very few complaints and has only been subject to a single recall. This is a good sign for the vehicle’s quality and potential long-term reliability.

What's new

  • Revives the Voyager name from the now-defunct Plymouth brand
  • Replaces base and fleet trim levels of the Chrysler Pacifica
  • No notable changes from the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica L and LX
  • Launches the second Voyager generation under the Chrysler brand and fifth Voyager generation overall

Here's a Throwback Thursday we didn't see coming. Chrysler is rebranding the lower trim levels of its Pacifica minivan with an old-school name from its past. The 2020 Chrysler Voyager dusts off a nameplate from the defunct Plymouth brand that dates back 45 years and was last seen about 15 years ago when it quietly disappeared as — wait for it — the Chrysler Voyager.

Cost to Drive Cost to drive estimates for the 2020 Chrysler Voyager L 4dr Minivan (3.6L 6cyl 9A) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $3.55 per gallon for regular unleaded in North Dakota.

Despite the retro name dust, the Voyager is really just the first two trim levels of last year's Pacifica. There are minor feature changes here and there, but effectively it's the same enchilada. That means you get plenty of space for passengers and cargo, a classy-looking cabin, capable acceleration, and even useful towing capability of up to 3,600 pounds.

Reviving the Voyager nameplate is a curious choice, and we suspect it has more to do with the impending discontinuation of the old Dodge Grand Caravan than a detailed plan of selling a ton more minivans under the Chrysler brand. As a shopper, all you need to focus on is the end result. The Voyager is a solid minivan and its pricing is attractive, but it can't quite match the Honda Odyssey for overall refinement.

Which Voyager does Edmunds recommend?

2020 chrysler voyager models.

The base L trim comes with essentials such as a rearview camera, cloth seats, a second-row bench seat (for seven-passenger seating), a folding/collapsible third-row Stow 'n Go bench seat, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 7-inch touchscreen.

The LX trim adds more comforts, including softer suspension tuning, a power-adjustable driver's seat, second-row captain's chairs, three-zone climate control, and satellite radio. Several safety features (blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert) come with the optional SafetyTec package for both trims, while a roof rack, remote start, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are options for the LX.

2022 chrysler voyager front exterior

Select a year

  • Lows Only offered to fleet buyers, driver-assistance features cost extra, no hybrid option.
  • Verdict The Voyager is a minivan bargain but sadly isn't available for sale to regular Joes.

What's New for 2022?

The Voyager goes fleet-only for 2022, meaning it's no longer offered for sale to the general public. The base L trim has been dropped, leaving the LX as the only option. The van gains the new Uconnect 5 infotainment system, Stow 'n Go second row seats, power sliding rear doors, a power-operated rear liftgate, a new in-cabin air filtration system, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel all as standard. A Safety and Premium Group package adds blind spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, in-dash navigation, a larger 10.1-inch infotainment display, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Silver Mist is now an available exterior color.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2022 Chrysler Voyager starts at $33,610.

While you'll need to be a fleet customer to order it, the Voyager's value-oriented packaging offers plenty of equipment as standard. Those features include automatic headlamps, aluminum wheels, three-zone manual climate control, and a lot more.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Mechanically, the Voyager is identical to the Pacifica, using the same 287-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels. In our testing, the Pacifica managed a 7.3-second sprint to 60 mph. Given this van forgoes some of the features that weigh down its brother, the Voyager likely weighs less than the Pacifica and thus has the potential to beat that time. Don't hold your breath for a hybrid. Chrysler will reserve that powertrain for the pricier minivan in its lineup.

2022 chrysler voyager rear exterior

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

We haven't had the opportunity to test the Voyager on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy loop, but for reference, the last nonhybrid Pacifica we tested achieved 31 mpg. The Chrysler vans both earn EPA estimates of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The Voyager's 22 mpg combined score matches that of the Carnival and Odyssey, both chief competitors. For more information about the Voyager's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website .

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

As with the exterior styling, powertrain, and chassis, the Voyager's interior mimics that of the Pacifica, albeit with fewer creature comforts. You won't find leather seats, automatic climate control, or rear-seat entertainment here, but the Voyager provides the same Stow 'n Go capability that makes the Pacifica so versatile. Behind the third row, the Voyager boasts the same 32 cubic feet of cargo volume as the Pacifica. So, while we have yet to put this van through our practical space tests, we feel safe saying that the Voyager will be able accommodate what its brother could (i.e., 12 carry-on suitcases with the rear seats up).

2022 chrysler voyager interior

Infotainment and Connectivity

Chrysler provides a 3.5-inch digital display in the gauge cluster, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center stack, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a six-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation. Bluetooth streaming and integrated voice control are also included but in-dash navigation, a larger 10.1-inch infotainment display, and SiriusXM radio are optional.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Looking for driver-assistance features ? You won't find many in the Voyager and nothing of the like is offered as standard. For more information about the Voyager's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Available automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Available rear parking sensors with rear automated emergency braking
  • Available blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Chrysler's warranty coverage is fairly typical for the class. The Toyota Sienna offers more value here in the form of a two-year/25,000-mile complimentary scheduled maintenance plan.

  • Limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
  • No complimentary scheduled maintenance

2020 Chrysler Voyager Overview

Is the 2020 chrysler voyager a good used minivan.

Yes, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager is a good used minivan . But it just isn’t as profound or exciting as its rivals. The Voyager was created from the lower trims of the Chrysler Pacifica and is the more budget-friendly of the two. The Voyager boasts good safety scores and a fairly comfortable cabin, but there are classmates worth checking out. The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid boasts better mpg ratings and a more luxurious cabin than the Voyager. Another alternative to consider is the 2020 Honda Odyssey , which has a bit more cargo space than the Voyager and wields impressive and enjoyable handling.

Which Used Chrysler Voyager Trim Is Right for Me?

The 2020 Chrysler Voyager comes in two trims: L and LX. The base L trim should satisfy most shoppers. The Voyager comes standard with a good amount of tech and infotainment features, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The LX trim has a few more add-ons, such as a rear DVD player, heated front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and remote start. Notably, the second-row seats do not fold into the floor on either trim, but the Voyager does come standard with third-row Stow 'n Go seats.

The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica , the Voyager’s sibling, is worth checking out for its additional entertainment and safety features.

  • Chrysler Voyager L: The base L trim comes standard with cloth upholstery, second-row bench seats, a rearview camera, and remote keyless entry. It also features a Uconnect infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen, a USB port, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a six-speaker stereo. You might find some models with rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and/or tri-zone automatic climate control.
  • Chrysler Voyager LX: The LX trim gains an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, two second-row bucket seats, in-floor storage bins for the second row, and satellite radio. You might find some models with tri-zone automatic climate control, a rear DVD player, heated front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and/or remote start.

What Does Chrysler's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Chrysler has a certified pre-owned program for vehicles less than six years old and with fewer than 65,000 miles. Buyers get the balance of the seven-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. They also receive a three-month, 3,000-mile maximum care warranty that covers most major components and is good from the date you purchase your CPO Chrysler. If your CPO Chrysler has any of the original three-year, 36,000-mile new-vehicle warranty remaining, the maximum care warranty kicks in when the new-car warranty expires. Chrysler CPO vehicles must pass a 125-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and 24-hour roadside assistance may be available.

Chrysler has one of the worst CPO programs among affordable carmakers, according to our analysis. Kia, Hyundai, Chevy, Ford, Honda and Mazda are all better.

2020 Chrysler Voyager Versus the Competition

2020 chrysler voyager vs. 2020 chrysler pacifica.

The Voyager and Pacifica are both minivans produced by Chrysler, but the Pacifica ups the ante when it comes to options and a lavish cabin. The Voyager is a product of lower Pacifica trims, which means they have some commonalities, including the same 287-horsepower V6 engine and similar gas mileage ratings. However, the Pacifica is available with all-wheel drive, which cannot be found in the Voyager and many other minivans . Other options found only in the Pacifica are forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a 20-speaker Harman Kardon stereo. If you don’t need AWD or some of the features available in the Pacifica, the Voyager remains a decent choice.

2020 Chrysler Pacifica vs. 2020 Honda Odyssey

The highly ranked 2020 Honda Odyssey is a great option. The Odyssey has more cargo space and a higher-quality cabin than the Voyager, and it has spacious and comfortable seating in all three rows. The Odyssey also boasts a smooth ride and composed handling. These two have similar gas mileage ratings, and neither offer all-wheel drive. Overall, the Odyssey is the better pick, but the Voyager isn’t a bad choice either.

2020 Voyager Interior

2020 voyager interior quality.

The interior is where the Voyager falls flat compared to most of its competitors. Cabin quality isn’t bad, as there are several soft-touch surfaces, but there are some hard plastics mixed in.

How Many People Does the 2020 Voyager Seat?

The 2020 Voyager seats seven people in three rows in its standard setup. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, but the second and third rows aren’t as impressive as those found in rivals. The second row isn’t very spacious, and the third row is tight and best suited for children.

Standard seating features:

  • Cloth upholstery
  • Third-row Stow ‘n Go seats
  • Second-row bench seat

Available seating features:

  • Heated front seats
  • Eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat

On the plus side, the dashboard features physical knobs for the climate control and audio functions, and they’re easy to use while driving.

  • Standard infotainment features: a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker stereo
  • Available infotainment features : a rear-seat DVD player and satellite radio

2020 Chrysler Voyager - Review

Available years, 2020 chrysler voyager, 2020 chrysler voyager review: a superb value minivan.

While the name Voyager may be new to some, it is, in fact, a very old nameplate that once belonged to Plymouth, a subdivision of Chrysler. However, that van was discontinued decades ago, and we thought we would never see the Voyager again. Instead, Chrysler has resurrected the brand, although it is not actually a new minivan at all. Instead, the lowest trim levels of the popular Pacifica minivan have been rebranded as the budget Voyager, with a low starting price of $26,985. You still get the same V6 engine, with an ample 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, but you won't be able to get all the high-tech features available on the Pacifica. Instead, the Voyager is all about high utility and value for money. It may not be as refined as some higher-cost rivals, but the Chrysler Voyager will definitely appeal to the minivan shopper on a tight budget.

What's the Price of the 2020 Chrysler Voyager?

For the level of quality provided, the Chrysler has a pretty reasonable starting price tag. Getting behind the wheel of the entry-level L will only cost you $26,985, and even the top-tier LX is quite affordable at $29,795. While the list of features isn't as extravagant as the top-tier trims of some rivals, the Voyager is still great value for money. These prices are MSRP and don't include tax, registration, licensing, or Chrysler's destination charge of $1,495.

2020 Voyager Exterior

2020 voyager performance, handling and driving impressions.

While by no means a thrilling driver, the Chrysler Voyager is competent on the road. The steering is light enough for maneuvering around town, which is great because the long, girthy minivan is hardly nimble. At higher speeds, it gains a little heft, but you'll never get much feedback from the wheels, so you'll be relying on your commanding seating position to provide you with information about where the edges of the vehicle are.

The suspension is quite good for such a bulky car, absorbing most road abrasions without too much fuss. The cabin may bounce around a bit over larger bumps, but load in some passengers and cargo, and the ride smooths out as the increased weight keeps the body stable. This is not a vehicle you should try to drive with any degree of thrill-seeking, as the handling simply cannot cope with anything more than neurotic soccer-mom levels of driving.

The active noise cancellation from the sound system helps to deliver a quieter ride when the music is playing, but wind and road noise are ever-present, even at minimal levels. Overall, the Voyager is nothing to write home about, but you won't complain about it either.

2020 Voyager Interior

2020 voyager trunk and cargo space, us nhtsa crash test result, verdict: is the 2020 chrysler voyager a good minivan.

Minivans are not overly appealing vehicles, despite their inherent practicality and value for money. They are not attractive or flashy, do not boast engaging driving dynamics, and can be a bit of a nightmare to maneuver around town due to their size. Still, it is a segment worth considering if you have a large family or frequently have to lug your kids' friends around town.

The Chrysler Voyager is not a new vehicle, even if it is a newly resurrected nameplate. In fact, it builds on the good name of the Chrysler Pacifica and will be a popular choice going forward due to the fact that it plays specifically on the strengths of the minivan segment. It offers exemplary passenger and cargo space, and a pretty upscale interior for its price. And it's the minivan's price that makes it a particularly good choice.

True, the Honda Odyssey is a bit more refined, especially at the upper trim levels, but you need to pay a pretty tidy sum for those. It comes with more extensive features and just as many, if not more, utility options. But, if you are already supporting a large family, what matters to you most may not be whether or not your chair swivels in a few more directions, or if it takes you a few more seconds to load the trunk. No, what you will care about is if you're getting the best bang for your buck. And when it comes to value for money, the Chrysler Voyager certainly makes a good case for itself.

What Chrysler Voyager Model Should I Buy?

While the $3k price hike over the price of the base L trim may put the LX out of reach of those on a tighter budget, we still recommend it as the better buy. It's true that it doesn't offer much over the base model, but the eight-way power driver's seat and tri-zone climate control are worth the upgrade. The SiriusXM and automatic headlights are bonuses. The L also doesn't get access to the optional DVD player or heated front seats.

2020 Chrysler Voyager Comparisons

2020 chrysler voyager vs chrysler pacifica.

The Chrysler Voyager is quite literally simply a subsection of the Chrysler Pacifica. The lower trim levels of the Pacifica, the L and LX, were rebranded as the Voyager. As such, both vehicles get the exact same dimensions, the same powertrain (287 hp and 262 lb-ft), and the same amount of passenger and cargo space. The only difference is the list of standard and available features, and the subsequent increase in price. The Pacifica also offers a hybrid option. The cheapest Pacifica starts at $33,745 and comes with more standard features than the top Voyager. A fully loaded Pacifica will cost you $45,790. If you want a minivan for utility as well as comfort, and have the cash to spare, the Pacifica is the plusher buy, but if you're on a tight budget, the Voyager will serve you better.

2020 Chrysler Voyager vs Dodge Grand Caravan

The Dodge Grand Caravan is very similar to the Voyager, being another of the more economy-focused minivans on the market. But that being said, it doesn't offer the same level of affordability as the Chrysler, with a rather unimpressive 17/25/20 mpg fuel economy. This is a bit surprising, considering it gets a similarly powered 283-hp V6. Still, the Grand Caravan has a similar starting price tag of $28k, and offers the same level of utility with fold-flat rear seats and plenty of standard cargo space. But the Dodge doesn't supply much in the way of modern infotainment features, having not changed that much since it was first introduced way back in 2008, and comfort and convenience are very limited. Overall, the Chrysler Voyager provides much better value for money.

Maintenance for Your 2020 Chrysler Voyager

How often should I service my 2020 Chrysler Voyager?

Your Guide to 2020 Chrysler Voyager Scheduled Maintenance

You want your Chrysler Voyager to last as long as possible. With proactive maintenance , your Voyager could be on the road well past the 200,000 mile mark. Not an expert in what services your car needs and when? No problem. There's no need to guess when it's time to get Voyager maintenance, and no need to wait until something goes wrong. It’s as easy as following the recommended maintenance schedule that’s been written specifically for your 2020 Chrysler Voyager!

Chrysler knows your vehicle inside and out (they made it, after all!), so they’ve designed this schedule with your car’s unique needs in mind. Depending on driving conditions and climate in your area (as well as other contributing factors, like your personal travel habits), your car’s scheduled maintenance needs may vary; however, there’s a good chance that your vehicle’s recommended maintenance services will include oil changes, tire rotations, brake pad replacement, filter changes, and fluid checks and exchanges. Scheduling routine service appointments is one of the best ways to help extend your Voyager's life, increase your vehicle safety, and maybe even save you the headache of dealing with common 2020 Chrysler Voyager problems in the future.

Essential Maintenance to Keep Your Chrysler Voyager Running Newer, Longer

Bring your 2020 Chrysler Voyager to Firestone Complete Auto Care for factory-recommended maintenance services and an expert technician will begin by performing a Courtesy Check. The Courtesy Check helps us see what we’re working with under the hood, and allows us to alert you to any potential problems before they worsen. During a Courtesy Check, we’ll always check your battery, then we’ll move on to inspect your Voyager’s head and tail lights, tires, fluid levels, alignment, and windshield wipers.

Maybe it's time to find a new auto battery for your 2020 Chrysler Voyager. In general, car batteries only last three to five years. Depending on the climate where you live and your habits while driving, your Voyager may need a replacement battery sooner. Taking short trips or exposing your car to extreme temperatures (like in the dead of winter or heat of summer) could reduce the life expectancy of your Chrysler Voyager battery. Sure, you could wait until your battery is completely dead, but it’s a much wiser decision to replace it before you need to. Otherwise, you may find yourself (and your trusty Voyager) stuck in the middle of nowhere. Your Chrysler Voyager won't be going anywhere without a strong battery.

Ensuring you always have a well-charged battery can help your car’s overall performance, and regularly scheduled oil changes can help your 2020 Chrysler Voyager's engine run smoother. See Chrysler's recommendations for oil change intervals for your 2020 Voyager in the chart at the top of this page. Keep in mind that your oil change interval could be different given your driving style and climate. Come in and speak with a Firestone Complete Auto Care technician to find out how often to change your oil. We can also answer any questions you have about what type of oil to use for your 2020 Chrysler Voyager.

Routine upkeep for your Chrysler Voyager suspension and steering system can help you keep control of your vehicle at all times (plus, it can make for a smoother ride!). Don’t let a misalignment or pulling steering wheel put you in danger. You can count on Firestone Complete Auto Care’s trained technicians to inspect this system and, if needed, provide Chrysler Voyager steering and suspension services including wheel alignment, strut replacement, power steering fluid changes, ball joint lubrication, and wheel bearing replacement. To keep your car running at its best, it’s essential to have regular maintenance services on your Chrysler Voyager's steering and suspension system.

If you fall behind on routine Chrysler Voyager maintenance (or worse, don’t do it at all!), you (and your engine) could quickly lose your cool when there's a problem on the road–especially if that problem is an overheated engine or broken A/C. Our technicians have you covered there, too, with the tools and expertise to care for your entire Chrysler Voyager cooling, heating, and climate control system. Is it time to replace the radiator in your Chrysler Voyager? We got it. A/C smelling musty? We’re on it. Firestone Complete Auto Care is your one-stop shop for 2020 Chrysler Voyager maintenance and repairs.

We can help you keep your vehicle (and your life!) running smoothly. Many of our locations have weekend and evening hours for your convenience.

Take an active role in maintaining your 2020 Chrysler Voyager. Get answers to common Chrysler Voyager maintenance questions and learn more about caring for your vehicle.

  • When should I have Chrysler Voyager alignment checked? Watch out for pothole damage. If your 2020 Voyager is pulling to one side or the other, your tires or suspension system could be calling out for help.
  • When should I switch my Chrysler Voyager to high mileage oil? Do you have more than 75,000 miles on your Chrysler Voyager? If so, request to switch to high mileage oil at your next oil change. This type of oil is specially formulated to keep aging engine parts in the best possible condition.
  • Can I ignore dashboard lights on my Chrysler? Because there might be a problem under the hood. Those warning lights are there for a reason! As soon as you notice that one’s illuminated, take your Chrysler Voyager to Firestone Complete Auto Care so you can address any small problems long before they worsen.

hi all - does anyone know if a Build Sheet designation of: SERP Load Leveling and Height Control means nivomat? both the '02 & '05 T&C FSM state: This vehicle is available with either standard type or load-leveling shock absorbers. they never use the word nivomat? they do mention that they are larger in diameter: On the exterior, load-leveling shock absorbers are larger in diameter than standard shock absorbers. just not sure if i can assume that "load-leveling" & nivomat are interchangeable? or that fat shocks = nivomat? REASON: i replaced the shocks on my '03 T&C Limited (185k) & '04 T&C Touring (155k)... ... not necessarily b/c they were bad (i don't even know how to tell)... ... but, mainly, just b/c i assumed they were old & may as well while i'm at it. here's the thing - both vehicles had fat shocks . both now have skinnies. the '04 got KYB shocks as part of a kit (struts too). no problems... except that, curiously, one or more of my sons said something about bouncing down the road (5 sons ages 10-21). the '03 got monroe as part of a kit (struts too). one of those shocks failed (leaking, not just weeping) after maybe a month. they're under warranty & rock auto is sending a replacement... ... BUT, i wonder if i've unknowingly effectuated a downgrade by putting on "brand new" parts?!?!?!?! for all i know, the fatties could still be good (i still have all 4). curious to see what you all think... ... and if there's some way to test my old fatties to see if they might still be good? i have heard/read horror stories of folks having to get parts (bushings) for these from europe or something (weird)?!?!? anyway, as always appreciate the wisdom & experience... ... i think i may have jacked this one up in trying to do good & be proative/preemptive :-( thanks, scott

Plug your VIN into this and see if it lists load leveling, if so the van should have Nivomat shocks. Post a photo of your old shocks as MOPAR has a few different numbers for Nivomats.

the 2003 is the one currently with the leaking monroe i should get a replacement on today. Click to expand...

For future reference, shocks don't go bad by time or mileage, but if they are leaking fluid or if the vehicle is bouncing around over bumps, then they are bad or going bad.

thanks for those tips... ... i don't have much of a reference point (or know what "normal" is) for the bouncing... ... but my youngest commented on the bouncing he experienced AFTER the fatties came off the 2004 and the KYB regular (new, of all things) shocks went on! so, that's telling.... seems pretty clear these vehicles, at least with a load, need some extra help. i'm starting to understand why people proudly put "nivomats" in their signature when describing their vehicles! i might only add to your list of leaks & bounce (based on what just happened to me)... ... also if the metal piece falls out of the bushing!?!?!??! yikes - never a dull moment... appreciate you sharing!

The new 'used' van I bought, '06 Touring, had Nivomat load leveling shocks from the factory per the build sheet. Someone installed coil-over Monroe shocks. I went to pick and pull, bought two good condition Nivomat shocks and installed them. Way better ride and sits a bit higher. I would probably go back to the Nivomats. You can get bushings for them on EBay someone said from Latvia. I did a search for "Nivomat Bushings" and they came up. look at page 4 of this post . Special Edy posted a link to get option codes for a given van. Good if you are digging around in wrecking yards.

Good thing you saved them. They were running around $300 each when I replaced mine a few years ago. Can't remember if that was before or after the 2020 jump in inflation but I bet they're more now. I originally got mine from a salvage yard and pulled the leaf springs too. They have their own leaf springs that go with them. They ran great for a few years till one started leaking. I regularly load down the back of the van so I splurged and bought new ones when I couldn't find any good ones at the yard.

no kidding! that was a very close call - i knew nothing of this at the time & basically viewed them as trash! it's a bit weird to me that these are viewed as optional or some sort of "upgrade." they almost seem like an integral part of the car as designed (if you even half-way use the back end)! i didn't know about the leaf springs part... ... i assume i'm okay in that dept. since it appears the cars started off with fatties. thanks for sharing!

UPDATE: IT'S TOO BIG! so i went to swap shocks on my '04 T&C touring... ... taking OFF the new KYB skinnies ... and putting BACK ON the nivomat fatties i took off. holy crap - now i get it! so, this isn't even close to being close. these nivomat things are monsters. i put the top bolt in and quickly realized the bottom of the shock and the hole it need sto align with are INCHES apart - 3, 4... i don't know. a lot. QUESTION: are we supposed to somehow compress these things and strap them in place before putting them on? i tried to get a pry bar under the bottom of the thing with it dangling... and soon decided against a valiant effort at that. i grabbed the other one to try to push down on it and it's not really impressed by my effort! obviously these things compress when forced to... ... but i'm just not sure how best to approach this. i have 2 jack stands under the rear axle... ... and2 jacks (one under each front spring mount) for back-up. i thought about jacking up a bit, removing the jack stand and lowering that side of the axle... ... but i'm honestly not sure i can get the spread i need even doing that! given the cost of replacing these things (which i'm now rather fond of)... ... i thought i better pause and seek out some guidance here. any wisdom would be much appreciated! thanks, scott

Move the jackstands from the rear axle and place them somewhere under the frame. That should let the axle hang and give you the clearance you need. You'll probably need to put a jack under the axle, on the side you're installing, to raise it up to get the bolt through. It's been a while since I messed with the rear of this thing but that's how I remember it.

ok, thanks for sharing that! that might just do the trick - i'll just reverse what i currently have going on then. the FSM talks about having the jack stands on each end of the axle... ... but that's clearly not going to work in this case. it was fine going from fatties to the little ones... ... but this is another story. i'll give that a shot tomorrow... much prefer that over trying to mess with compressing these things! thanks again - appreciate you taking the time to share!

No problem. The shop manual probably assumes they're new. New shocks come compressed with a compression strap. I think you'll have all the room you need. If the stands are low enough you might be able to leave them in place and lift the van by the rail in front of the rear wheelwell until the holes line up. The van (and shock) will lift while the axle stays put.

Ah, the fun and joy of reinstalling old Nivomats. Looks like Derrick got you through it. On the other pair, you might run into some trouble while replacing the bushings. The bushing itself has a metal ring/band on the outside and it tends to get kind of fused to the mounting ring of the shock. No matter what I tried, I couldn't just "push/press" the ring out. I'm sure that there are some other solutions that I couldn't figure out, but what I ended up doing was to secure the shock in a vice, push out the inner core and rip away all the poly/rubber material. This left just the outer metal band. I then used a hack saw to cut through that band. Once it looked like I was almost through it and down to the ring, I then used a hammer and chisel along the length of the cut groove.

if anyone has a proven source for the bushing replacments, please feel free to share. i have other fires to put out at the moment, so i've only casually poked around the internet. but, having a place to buy them where someone's already had success would be a great addition to the thread. thanks!

19th Edition of Global Conference on Catalysis, Chemical Engineering & Technology

Victor Mukhin

  • Scientific Program

Victor Mukhin, Speaker at Chemical Engineering Conferences

Title : Active carbons as nanoporous materials for solving of environmental problems

However, up to now, the main carriers of catalytic additives have been mineral sorbents: silica gels, alumogels. This is obviously due to the fact that they consist of pure homogeneous components SiO2 and Al2O3, respectively. It is generally known that impurities, especially the ash elements, are catalytic poisons that reduce the effectiveness of the catalyst. Therefore, carbon sorbents with 5-15% by weight of ash elements in their composition are not used in the above mentioned technologies. However, in such an important field as a gas-mask technique, carbon sorbents (active carbons) are carriers of catalytic additives, providing effective protection of a person against any types of potent poisonous substances (PPS). In ESPE “JSC "Neorganika" there has been developed the technology of unique ashless spherical carbon carrier-catalysts by the method of liquid forming of furfural copolymers with subsequent gas-vapor activation, brand PAC. Active carbons PAC have 100% qualitative characteristics of the three main properties of carbon sorbents: strength - 100%, the proportion of sorbing pores in the pore space – 100%, purity - 100% (ash content is close to zero). A particularly outstanding feature of active PAC carbons is their uniquely high mechanical compressive strength of 740 ± 40 MPa, which is 3-7 times larger than that of  such materials as granite, quartzite, electric coal, and is comparable to the value for cast iron - 400-1000 MPa. This allows the PAC to operate under severe conditions in moving and fluidized beds.  Obviously, it is time to actively develop catalysts based on PAC sorbents for oil refining, petrochemicals, gas processing and various technologies of organic synthesis.

Victor M. Mukhin was born in 1946 in the town of Orsk, Russia. In 1970 he graduated the Technological Institute in Leningrad. Victor M. Mukhin was directed to work to the scientific-industrial organization "Neorganika" (Elektrostal, Moscow region) where he is working during 47 years, at present as the head of the laboratory of carbon sorbents.     Victor M. Mukhin defended a Ph. D. thesis and a doctoral thesis at the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (in 1979 and 1997 accordingly). Professor of Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. Scientific interests: production, investigation and application of active carbons, technological and ecological carbon-adsorptive processes, environmental protection, production of ecologically clean food.
