Dimmu puts a on a wicked show.
Both bands were amazing. Need to see them again!!!
Solid performance by Enslaved and Dimmu. Woe opened up for the show with a great start! They are a local Philadelphia black metal band, whose first record is "Quietly, Undramatically" released under Candlelight Records. Solid, true blackmetal opener for Blood Red Throne, Enslaved and Dimmu - however I did not think Dawn of Ashes quite fit in the lineup... I would have liked to have seen them replaced by a more fitting band, even if it was local, like Woe.
dimmu was incredible
These guys never cease to amaze me...This is the first time I saw them and they are mind blowing....anyone who hasn't had the chance to see them when they come back thru North America...hope they are....go see them no matter how far you have to travel...you won't regret it...we got to meet the band and they allowed us to take photos, autograghs and were genuinely very nice dudes. Thanks for putting on such an amazing show....Hail Dimmu!!!!!!!!
dimmu borgir was amazing live
i will never forget this concert as long as i live was absolutely amazing and the price was phenomenal cant wait to see them again
Always good to see black metal in Philly
Opening bands terrible but nothing unusual. Loved having several Norwegian bands together. One had trouble with the mic but Enslaved was simple, clean and it was great to hear them finally. Didn't seem like the audience knew their music or history too well. Dimmu good but getting overproduced for this type of music. Overall a great show and a good crowd. Bring us more shows like this.
Dawn of Ashes was the whole night.
The show was amazing my neck is still recovering from it. Dimmu weren't that great as i thought they would be. Dawn of Ashes took my attention very quickly from when they first walked on stage. I thought they would be an industrial band from what I heard but, man, I was wrong. Idk the other bands they never announced themselves. One band, the microphone didn't work which was very upsetting. When the mic did work his vocals were really good I wish I heard more from him.
One of the best shows I have seen lately. Both Dimmu Borgir and Enslaved played and sounded near perfect.I definitely look forward to see them on the next tour.
Dimmu Borgir was amazing!
Great show by all bands, high energy, great crowd.
Dimmu was great!
Dimmu Borgir did not disappoint, fourth time seeing them and this was the best. Enslaved was good. Blood Red Throne was good except for half of the show they had mic problems. Dawn of Ashes was great for only knowing a few songs they impressed me and now I am a fan. Could have did without Woe.
Dimmu show was one of the best I've seen
I go to a lot of metal concerts, and Dimmu put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Easily In my top 3 of all time. Thanks for bringing black metal to Houston!

Plenty of metal bands talk the talk; Dimmu Borgir, though, most definitely walk the walk. They’ve spent over twenty years now delighting and terrifying their audiences in equal measure, and as you’d expect from a band with albums called, amongst other things, Godless Savage Garden, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon, the word ‘compromise’ has never been in their vocabulary. Whilst their sound has evolved over the years, they’ve usually focused on symphonic black metal, blending the typical ear-shredding volume and unrelenting heaviness of black metal in general with an atmosphere and ambience that provides a counterbalance to the morbid lyrical themes with which they concern themselves. The release of their most recent record, Abrahadabra, in 2010 saw a first for the Norwegian trio; they performed live with a full symphony orchestra in their native Oslo. They took a more conventional Dimmu Borgir show on the road, too, with their most recent UK tour, in late 2011, billed - with tongue perhaps in cheek - as An Evening with Dimmu Borgir. Giving fans a choice of three classic records - For All Tid, Stormblast and Enthrone Darkness Triumphant - they played two sets in intimate venues; one of those records in its entirety, and then a greatest hits selection. A new Borgir record is now overdue - expect news of both that and further UK dates soon, after a recent return to the festival circuit.

I loved them sooo very much all my life, but the sound was not clear, wasn't mixed well.. I enjoyed the show because I waited to see them for so long, but even I had trouble to recognise the songs - which I know by heart.. and I really look forward to seeing them again - hoping that everything will be perfect then. ❤️
Great show put together by these crazy Norwegians! I'm not the greatest black metal fan out there but have to hand it to them, they really worked the crowd.
A couple headbangers in there as well. They managed to keep the spirits up between Hatebreed and the almighty Kreator!
From what I can recall they killed it. Awesome gig and venue. Kicked off a three day bender. Always a good crowd there, nothing like hanging with like minded individuals.
Loved dimmu borgir last night, old songs new songs, yes well worth going to see live
Nice back drop also, hope to see them headline their own gig in the bear future

About Dimmu Borgir
Dimmu Borgir Announce North American Tour Dates
Launching an ominous campaign for In Sorte Diaboli—their first studio album in four years, scheduled for North American release on April 24th—Norwegian melodic black metallers Dimmu Borgir have announced their headlining return to the western hemisphere. Beginning on Friday, April 20, in Cleveland, Ohio, and supported by Unearth, Devildriver and Kataklysm, Dimmu Borgir’s foreboding Wagnerian majesty will be unleashed in all major cities in the U.S. and Canada.
According to songwriter/guitarist Silenoz, “It’s been too long…the wait is over! It is with great anticipation we look forward to start, for once, a World Tour on North American soil! We’re excited to have Unearth, Devildriver and Kataklysm on this diabolic ride and can’t wait to meet all our loyal fans and friends old and new once again. Come join us in the Invaluable Darkness!”
Teaming up once again with producer Fredrik Nordström (Opeth, Arch Enemy, At the Gates) at the new Studio Fredman in Hyssna, Sweden, In Sorte Diaboli is Dimmu Borgir’s first concept album and a treatise on modern day political and social abuses of organized religion. An epic tale set in medieval Europe, this first-person account of an acolyte is told through his own journal entries, depicting his personal struggle with the teachings of the church. Experiencing a life-altering epiphany, he abandons the church completely, and his spiritual victory is won through his rejection of the concept of god.
In Sorte Diaboli will be available in North America in two different formats: a jewel-case CD and a limited edition digipak ( + bonus track, + bonus DVD with the Patric Ullaeus–directed video for “The Serpentine Offering,” + “The Making of In Sorte Diaboli” in-studio/behind the scenes footage).
The complete track listing for In Sorte Diaboli:
- 1) “The Serpentine Offering”
- 2) “The Chosen Legacy”
- 3) “The Conspiracy Unfolds”
- 4) “The Sacrilegious Scorn”
- 5) “The Fallen Rises”
- 6) “The Heretic Hammer” (Bonus Track)
- 7) “The Sinister Awakening”
- 8) “The Fundamental Alienation”
- 9) “The Invaluable Darkness”
- 10) “The Foreshadowing Furnace”
The band’s recording and current touring lineup includes Shagrath on vocals, Silenoz on guitar, Galder on guitar, I.C.S. Vortex on bass & clean vocals, Mustis on keyboards and Hellhammer on drums.

Dimmu Borgir + Amorphis announce co-headline tour for January and February 2020
The year 2020 is set to start with a roll of thunder! Today, the Norwegian black metal force DIMMU BORGIR and Finnish melodic prog metallers AMORPHIS announce a co-headline tour that no metal fan should miss. In January and February of 2020, the unholy Scandinavian alliance will haunt 10 European cities and bring the American post black metallers WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM along as support.
DIMMU BORGIR commented: "We're going to crush Europe in January next year, and together with AMORPHIS, we'll make sure that Nordic darkness will create a perfect winter's storm. See you all soon!"
AMORPHIS' Esa Holopainen stated: "When the idea of doing a co-headline tour with DIMMU BORGIR came up, it sounded great, but at the same time we were really surprised. However the more we thought about it, the more it sounded like a perfect match. Musically we are different, but deep down, it’s not really by that much. There’s a lot of similar elements where both bands take their inspiration. Both bands are absolutely unique on stage. It is needless to say that this tour is going to be a true killer with a massive production, that will undoubtedly bring even more coldness into people's hearts in January 2020.
We would also like to welcome WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM to open the evenings."
WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM added: "We are ready to blaze forth across Europe with these two titans of Heavy Metal! DIMMU BORGIR and AMORPHIS are bands that we love and we are looking forward to supporting them on this tour. We will be playing songs off our new album (released by Century Media in February) as well as some classic WOLVES material. Thank you!"
See the bands on one of the following exclusive tour dates. Tickets go on sale on August 14th at 10:00 CEST.

Lost Themes IV: Noir is the latest installment in a series that sees Carpenter releasing new music for John Carpenter movies that don’t actually exist. The first Lost Themes was released in 2015, followed by Lost Themes II in 2016 and Lost Themes III: Alive After Death in 2021.
Sacred Bones previews, “It’s been a decade since John Carpenter recorded the material that would become Lost Themes , his debut album of non-film music and the opening salvo in one of Hollywood’s great second acts. Those vibrant, synth-driven songs, made in collaboration with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, kickstarted a musical renaissance for the pioneering composer and director. With Lost Themes IV: Noir , they’ve struck gold again, this time mining the rich history of the film noir genre for inspiration.
“Since the first Lost Themes , John has referred to these compositions as “soundtracks for the movies in your mind.” On the fourth installment in the series, those movies are noirs. Like the film genre they were influenced by, what makes these songs “noirish” is sometimes slippery and hard to define, and not merely reducible to a collection of tropes. The scores for the great American noir pictures were largely orchestral, while the Carpenters and Davies work off a sturdy synth-and-guitar backbone.
“The trio’s free-flowing chemistry means Lost Themes IV: Noir runs like a well-oiled machine—the 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster from Kiss Me Deadly , perhaps, or the 1958 Plymouth Fury from John’s own Christine . It’s a chemistry that’s helped power one of the most productive stretches of John’s creative life, and Noir proves that it’s nowhere near done yielding brilliant results.”
