Awesome and its football time already.

Taking a bus to see the game must be an adventurer all by itself, sounds like the way to go.

My wife and I have been on several of the Buffalo Bills bus trips with Elite, and they are always AMAZING! The trips may seem a little pricey, but they are worth every penny! The seats are always great, staff are always fun and helpful, and the tailgate food and drinks can't be beat. You can't plan this quality of trip on your own, and not having to worry about the driving is the best, (especially getting out of the parking lot after the game!) Thanks for an always memorable time, can't wait to go again this year! Go Bills Go!

Just got back from Cincinnati, Neil O'Sullivan from Elite Sports Tours helped me with booking and got us great seats for the Reds vs Cubs. Our hotel was not very close but that was due to budget restraints. I will probably use their services again.

I honestly was a little apprehensive about dealing with a company out of Canada. Nothing against Canada, but never came across this before. I must say that I was totally impressed with the customer service that Neil provided to us regarding our trip to Cleveland to see our Chiefs play. (A birthday celebration for my husband.). Neil was so polite and answered my questions and explained the e-ticketing process thoroughly! Our trip overall went so smoothly from booking at the Hyatt Regency Arcade, which was very nice and tickets to the football stadium. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. We even learned to use Uber. We are rather old school, but willing to learn new! Thanks so much Neil! We will definitely use your company again for our next sporting adventure out of town! Overall a good experience for my first time with Elite Sports Tours. Patrick, Tim, Austin, were cool and did a good job and the the megabus was comfortable, hotel was excellent, and the Packers game and HOF experience was just amazing:) A few small things could been better, but overall a positive experience:) Thanks Patrick, Tim, Austin for giving me a piece of mind on the Wednesday, when I misplaced my CDN passport, and the guys were nice enough to go back onto the bus and find my passport:) That was great customer service and the bus driver Julie did a very good job driving us through 4 states and some crazy Chicago traffic. I look forward to another trip in 2020 with Elite Sports tours either to the Philadelphia for a Eagles home game or back to Lambeau Field:) Thumbs up for the great experience..

Austin did an incredible job with our weekend trip to Atlanta to see the Braves play the Nationals. The hotel (Marriott Northwest Galleria) is within walking distance to the ballpark but also offers a shuttle. There are plenty of places to eat and a lot of activities for young kids too. The seats that Austin was able to provide were "exceptional" and beyond. I highly recommend Elite Sports Tours to anyone looking for a fun sports filled weekend. Elite Sports Tours is exactly how it sounds... Elite. They do an absolutely fantastic job of making the sports tour of your choice as enjoyable as possible. I have traveled with them in the past to Buffalo Bills home games and the experience has been nothing short of electric. Booking the trip is extremely simple and straight forward with any questions being answered by their customer service staff. The actual game day experience is amazing... flexible pickup locations to accommodate as many sports fans as possible, fun/interactive games and trivia on the way to the destination, a great selection of all inclusive food and drinks at the tailgate prior to the game, the ability to sit as a group once inside the stadium and well coordinated departure after the event is over... everything is carefully planned out and designed to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. Highly recommend them for the best game day experience possible. Well done Elite Sports Tours.

We booked a Montreal Canadiens vs Buffalo Sabres weekend get away with the help of Neil O'Sullivan (Mar 22 - 24, 2019). We stayed at the InterContinental Montreal and the accommodations were splendid. Very clean room and "top shelf" hotel staff to accommodate. The Concierge staff were extremely friendly and helpful directing us to see attractions. As for the game itself, excellent tickets 15 rows up, centre ice at the Bell Centre. Very impressive. First time to the Bell Centre and what a great experience. We will definitely book through Elite Sports Tours Inc., again. Highly recommend their services. Thank you Neil O'Sullivan for all your assistance and follow up to ensure our get away weekend was first class.

Was very disapointed in the trip to Buffalo for the Patriot's Game. First, they added a second stop in Vaughn. Second the tailgate was not in the same place. It was on a gravel parking lot that did not have the atmosphere of previous years. I left my wallet in the stadium and asked them to wait a few minutes to see if I could track it down. They left without me but luckily I caught up to the bus on the highway. The trip home took over five hours due to the three stops and a change of drivers in Vaughn. Won't be back

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

Well it was our first time using Elite Sports Tours, and having a wife who hates doing anything online out of fear of being ripped off or scammed. Austin was great. As Packers fans living in Houston, I wanted to surprise my son with a Green Bay Game road trip to Dallas to watch the Packers. He provided us with a very comfortable hotel conveniently located near AT&T stadium in a section behind our team and competitively priced versus the on line rates. This trip could not of been any better!!! We had Packer fans all in our section and many in our hotel. We will use again soon for a trip to Chicago to watch our Blackhawks soon.

My amazing Wife ,Kelley, gave me a huge surprise by telling me that we were going to celebrate our 30th Anniversary in Toronto, and we were going to see the Leafs play the Bruins on October 19th! The idea sounded great, but she wasn’t sure how to go about getting the tickets, and finding a hotel nearby. Fortunately, while searching for ticket/hotel packages, she discovered Elite Sport Tours! Neil Sullivan gave her a variety of ticket and hotel options for us to choose from. Neil was very helpful and patient, promptly answering any questions that we had. The end result, we were fortunate to see the Leafs defeat the Bruins 4-3 in overtime, and the Novotel Hotel was an easy walk to Scotiabank Arena! Neil delivered as promised, great lodging and seats, at a very competitive rate! Looking forward to booking another trip through Neil at Elite Sports Tours! Steve Messinger; Sylvania, Ohio, U.S.A.

I have had the pleasure of participating in 3 Elite Sports Tours trips. Two football and one hockey. Both football games (Bills vs Browns & Bills vs Steelers) were the most fun I have had going across the border to a Buffalo Bills game...ever. And the hockey trip was an absolute riot that will likely turn into an annual event with our large group. The bus is ALWAYS on time, clean, comfortable and fun. The EST staff are funny, engaging and professional (ask for Pat unless you're allergic to fun). No time wasted in picking up fans en-route to the event. HOCKEY: We just got back from a 2 night stay in Montreal to see the Maple Leafs play the Canadiens. From start to finish EST made this an awesome trip. We were able to set up a group name that guys could call in and reserve on their own. The bus traveled safely through an awful snowstorm to get us to our destination. EST set us up with an awesome pregame party at La Cage in Old Montreal and tickets together at the game. All while capturing us along the way with professional equipment so we could prove to friends and family back home that we were still alive and truly having fun. Having done it multiple times I know how much of a pain It can be to organize these kind of trips on your own. Fronting money, finding tickets, securing a hotel, making reservations, and transportation can be a nightmare. That is where Elite Sports Tours are truly the best. They take care of legitimately everything while ensuring that you and your group have the best time possible. Simply professionals of customer service. FOOTBALL: Once at the tailgate everything is extremely organized. They have their own tailgate section where the food and booze are unlimited to your own personal desires. Once inside the seats you are given are typically in the end zone - close enough to hear the action in real time. The bus leaves after the game at the specified time with or without you, which is perfect because you don't get stuck waiting longer than you have to at the border. I would highly recommend taking a trip with Elite Sports Tours to any venue as these guys are true professionals. If you do not have a good time it is truly your own fault.

Nothing beats heading down to an away stadium with 100s of fans and taking over!! Unmatched experience you can't find anywhere else!!

Great job Mitch/Cole! Having never seen an NFL football game live, I decided to book my first one with Elite Sports Tours. Placing my order was simple, I called up, gave my information and received a prompt email confirmation about the Buffalo Bills game on December 29th. Our pick-up location was at the Burlington location (Tucker's Marketplace parking lot). We were told which bus # we were on, as there were multiple. Emails were sent leading up to the date reminding us on what was needed (passport/SIGNED waivers/ETC) and how to download the digital tickets. For security, I guess you can't print out tickets anymore so I copied them to my Apple Wallet. Our bus captains, Mitch and Cole did a great job with the rowdy bus guests, we were across the border into Buffalo very quickly. The weather did not cooperate, as it rained the entire day. The New Era Arena is outdoors so we came prepared. Upon getting close, the buses parked at a reserved tailgate restaurant lot where burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork and wings were ready for us. This along with all the Bud and Bud Light you wanted were included in the price! The tailgate was open until about 30min before game time. NOTE: Once the game ends, they gave us 20min to get back to the bus and they depart; plan accordingly! Security and Ticket Validation went quickly, no purses or backpacks allowed unless they are see-through. Seats were in the Bills end-zone (Section 125). Overall it was a fun experience and I would love to plan another event with Elite in the future.

Neil did a great job organizing out trip to Toronto to see the NY Yankees play! Our hotel, the Novotel Toronto Center, was perfect. Very nice room. Great hotel restaurant plus a plethora of other restaurants directly across the street. We had a brief twenty minute walk to the stadium. Our seats were right behind home plate. We were able to see the players up-close. Enjoyable trip from start to finish. Thank you.

Blockbuster Bills Trade Proposal Sends WR With ‘Elite’ Potential to Buffalo

T he Buffalo Bills have gained a reputation for moving up the first-round draft board in recent years to meet pressing needs, and this week’s Stefon Diggs trade could lead to an even bigger jump later this month.

The Bills shipped Diggs to the Houston Texans in a blockbuster move on April 3, voiding their offense of the No. 1 receiver and leading to what one insider believes will be a big draft-day trade. The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia predicted in a new mock draft that the Bills would move all the way up to No. 7 to snag one of this year’s top receiving prospects — LSU pass-catcher Malik Nabers.

“I continue to believe that anything, including a move like this one on draft day, is a real possibility for the Bills,” Buscaglia wrote “[Bills general manager Brandon] Beane has long been an aggressive draft-day trader when he’s excited about a prospect and how he’d fit their system. Now, with a gaping hole for a top target at wide receiver and where the Bills are in their build, this is the type of move Beane could rationalize as one that puts them over the top for the foreseeable future.”

Bills Start to Replace Stefon Diggs

The Bills lost their most productive receiver when they shipped Diggs to the Texans this week. Despite a late-season dropoff, Diggs still managed 107 catches for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Combined with the departure of No. 2 receiver Gabe Davis in free agency, the Bills have a lot of production to make up for in 2024.

Buscaglia predicted that it will start with a major move up the draft board to snag Nabers. He predicted the Bills would swing a trade with the Tennessee Titans for the No. 7 and No. 182 overall picks. In exchange, the Bills would swap their first-round pick this year, No. 28 overall, along with their second- and fourth-round picks this year and a first-round pick in 2025.

Buscaglia compared it to the move the Atlanta Falcons made in 2011, sending a haul of draft picks to the Cleveland Browns so they could snag wide receiver Julio Jones.

“The Bills have one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Josh Allen, a still-talented roster around him, and a pretty good idea that they’ll be pushing for the playoffs at the very least in 2024,” Buscaglia wrote. “By arming him with a young receiver with elite potential on a rookie deal for the next four years, it gives the Bills a lot of flexibility for how they spend through the duration of the receiver’s rookie deal.”

Malik Nabers Earns Big Comparison

Nabers is getting plenty of interest in the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft. As Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports noted, he has made pre-draft visits with several teams including three that would pick ahead of the No. 7 spot.

Sullivan noted that Nabers has measurables similar to another former LSU star.

“Nabers’ measurables compare similarly to fellow LSU phenom and current Bengals superstar Ja’Marr Chase,” Sullivan wrote. “They are both 6 feet tall and weigh roughly 200 pounds. Nabers ran a 4.35 40-yard dash, while Chase logged a 4.38. They also had similar board jumps and verticals. For the Tigers last season, the All-American caught 89 balls for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games.”

Kiel's Pierce Arenz headlines 2024 Lakeshore Elite boys basketball team

KIEL — With his four-year career now complete, Pierce Arenz is statistically the greatest player in Kiel Raiders boys basketball history.

Arenz holds the career program records in points (1,886 points), steals (264) and assists (479).

He’s also a two-time Lakeshore Elite boys basketball player of the year, having won the honor in 2023 and now again in 2024.

Lakeshore Elite is an all-area team comprised of schools from Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties.

Arenz doesn't want people to think of him as simply a player who scored a lot of points, but for everything else he brings to the table.

“A lot of people will look at the points but I see (my legacy) as he pushed his teammates to get better,” Arenz said.

The Raiders got a lot better in the 2023-24 season, starting the season 28-0 and reaching the WIAA Division 3 state semifinals before losing by two points in the closing seconds.

Kiel set team records for not only most points scored per game but also fewest points surrendered per game as well.

“He’s our motor and he led us to an historic season,” Kiel coach Marcus Rumpff said. “He’s pretty incredible, he makes everyone around him better.”

Rumpff says before Arenz, everyone in Kiel looked up to Brandon Gries who previously held the all-time scoring record and led the Raiders to state in 2010.

“Brandon Gries was the guy in Kiel,” Rumpff said. “That team was put on a pedestal.”

Added Arenz:

“Definitely a special season,” Arenz said. “To be one of the top teams to come from Kiel is a special feeling.”

Now that he’s taken up the mantle, Arenz wants future players to use him as inspiration the same way he used Gries.

“Hopefully these records will be around for a while and give future players something to chase like we chased,” Arenz said.

Lakeshore Elite girls basketball: Oostburg's Ady Ketterhagen headlines 2024 Lakeshore Elite girls basketball team

What makes Arenz so effective is his tenacity and endurance.

“His motor is incredible, the kid doesn’t get tired,” Rumpff said. “It’s wild, if he’s not in foul trouble he doesn’t come out. Plus, he’s so dynamic on both ends. Teams haven’t dared press us these last few years because he destroys it.”

One player isn’t how a team wins its first 28 games though, both Rumpff and Arenz says everyone on the team took a leap this season.

“He’s trusting his teammates more,” Rumpff said. “His assists were up, his shooting percentage was up and his teammates stepped up.”

Lakeshore Elite boys wrestling: Two Rivers' Justin Klinkner is 2024 Lakeshore Elite boys wrestler of the year

“What helped me was knowing my teammates had my back,” Arenz said. “We trusted each other.”

With everyone on the same page, Kiel had a season that won’t long be forgotten.

“As a group they all bought in,” Rumpff said. “Pierce was the leader of it all.”

Bryson DeChambeau puts on a Masters clinic and takes a 1-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler

Bryson DeChambeau is the leader at Augusta National after Day 1.

By Doug Ferguson

Bryson DeChambeau was the mad scientist who calculated barometric pressure and the decay of spin rate in altitude when trying to figure out how to best play the game.

Then he became the incredible bulk, adding 40 pounds of muscle and mass with a diet of some 3,500 calories a day in an effort to swing the club faster and hit the ball farther than anyone.

The third iteration he showed at the Masters on Thursday might be the most daunting.

“The golf phase,” DeChambeau said Thursday after opening with a 7-under 65, his best start in a major and lowest score at the Masters. “Trying to be the best golfer I can be.”

DeChambeau was plenty good in a relentless wind, taking a one-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler in the rain-delayed opening round. Scheffler hasn’t changed at all. The world’s No. 1 player was practically flawless from tee to green.

The first round could not be completed because of a 2 1/2-hour delay from overnight rain that drenched Augusta National, leaving the greens softer than they have been all week. The test came from a steady 20 mph wind, with gusts twice that strong.

Among those still on the course was Tiger Woods, who was 1-under par through 13 holes when it was too dark to continue. He next faces 23 holes Friday, an endurance test for his battered legs, as he tries to set the Masters record by making his 25th consecutive cut.

Nicolai Hojgaard of Denmark, one of 17 newcomers to the Masters, was at 5 under with three holes to play. Max Homa was at 4 under through 13 holes.

DeChambeau put on a clinic of power and putting, always a good recipe at Augusta National.

“I’m just in a place where I’m repeating a motion, trying to do the same thing over and over again,” he said.

He ran off five birdies in a six-hole stretch on the back nine, including a two-putt birdie on the par-5 15th when his risky shot under a pine tree cleared the water fronting the green and left him 40 feet away.

“It clipped the tree. I hit four pine needles rather than five, and it worked out perfectly,” said DeChambeau, not entirely rid of his precise calculations.

Scheffler teed off about two hours later when the wind was at full force, and part of him was surprised to see so many red numbers under par on the large, white boards.

“I’ve played this tournament once before in some pretty high winds, and it’s an extremely challenging golf course,” Scheffler said, giving credit to caddie Ted Scott for “guessing the wind correctly” on a number of shots.

He had the only bogey-free round of the 89 players in the field, no small task on a day like this. Three of his six birdies came on the par 3s, one of those when he holed a bunker shot from behind the 12th green.

DeChambeau feels he got fortunate with his shot that grazed the tree. There was no doubting the break Scheffler got with his second shot on the par-5 13th, when he flinched upon hearing a shot hit from another fairway. Scheffler’s ball came up short, and he assumed it would roll back into the tributary of Rae’s Creek that winds in front of the green.

The turf was soft enough that it stayed up, and he chipped it close to make birdie.

“I’ve never seen a ball stay up there,” Scheffler said. “I don’t know if that will happen again this week. I’m hoping I don’t find out.”

Scheffler began as the 4-1 favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, the shortest odds since Tiger Woods nearly two decades ago. And then the No. 1 player in the world — who came into the Masters off two wins and a runner-up finish — played as expected.

It was his ninth bogey-free round of the year.

“Any time you can get around this golf course bogey-free, you’re going to have a pretty good day out there,” Scheffler said.

DeChambeau dropped only one shot, a long three-putt to a back pin on No. 9, and otherwise was flawless. He nearly drove the short par-4 third hole, leaving him a chip-and-putt birdie. He took care of three of the par 5s and got a bonus at the end when he holed a 30-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole.

DeChambeau feels he has settled in with his new life on Saudi-funded LIV Golf, with his equipment and his swing. He is not chasing swing speed like he once did, though he still has it when needed. He says his swing has been the same since that 61-58 weekend he had at LIV Golf Greenbrier last summer.

“He’s always been one of the best putters in the world. When he drives it like he did today — I mean, he drove it really good — and he makes putts, he’s obviously very good,” said Gary Woodland, who played alongside him. “It was a clinic. It was impressive. He didn’t get out of position hardly at all, and he rolled it very, very nice.”

Defending champion Jon Rahm never got any momentum and bogeys on his last two holes sent him to a 73, leaving him eight shots behind.

“Those are some seriously good rounds in conditions like today,” Rahm said. “I haven’t made it easy for myself. I’m going to have to start making up ground quickly.”

Rory McIlroy at least didn’t shoot himself out of the tournament after one round. In his 10th bid for the final leg of the career Grand Slam, he saved par with a chip from behind the 18th green for a 71, the first time he has opened the Masters with a round under par since 2018.

“I held it together well. It was a little scrappy,” McIlroy said. “Probably turned a 3 under into a 1 under there at the end. But overall, still not a bad score. And obviously a lot of golf left to play.”

The first round was to resume at 7:50 a.m., and with a good forecast for the rest of the week, the Masters should be back on schedule by the weekend.

City Street Guides by f.d. walker: A Street Photography Guide to Moscow, Russia

moscow-guide-cover

*A series of guides on shooting Street Photography in cities around the world. Find the best spots to shoot, things to capture, street walks, street tips, safety concerns, and more for cities around the world. I have personally researched, explored and shot Street Photography in every city that I create a guide for. So you can be ready to capture the streets as soon as you step outside with your camera!

At over 12 million people, Moscow is the largest city in Russia and second largest in Europe by population ( Istanbul is #1). An urban, cosmopolitan metropolis with more than enough glitz and glam to cater to the elite, but without losing its fair share of Soviet era roughness around the edges. It can be fast paced, brash, busy, and trendy like other big cities, but it has its blend of West meets Russia atmosphere and beauty that provides plenty of unique interest. The Red Square is as famous as it gets, but there’s so much more to this city, including the most beautiful subway system you’ve ever seen. It would take years to capture all of Moscow, but that means you have an endless amount of areas to discover.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

So here’s a Street Photography guide so you can be ready to capture all that Moscow has to offer before you even arrive!

  • Patriarch’s Pond
  • Old Arbat Street
  • Maroseyka Street
  • Tverskoy Boulevard

Top 5 Street Spots:

1. red square.

The Red Square is the most famous square in not just Russia, but all of Eastern Europe. The name actually doesn’t come from the color of the bricks or communism, but from the name in Russian, Krásnaya, once meaning “beautiful” before its meaning changed to “red.” This large plaza is what you see on the cover of guide books and magazines for Moscow, with St. Basil’s Cathedral being the center piece next to Lenin’s Mausoleum surrounded by the Kremlin Wall. Of course, the Red Square attracts hordes of tourist due to the main attractions, but all that activity around an interesting atmosphere does provide street photo opportunities. It’s also the central square connecting to the city’s major streets, providing a good starting point to explore outward.

You’ll also find the popular pedestrian only Nikolskaya Street connecting the Red Square to Lubyanka Square. This line of expensive shops includes plenty of activity, while also leading you to another popular square. Filled with history rivaling any city, the Red Square and surrounding areas are the heart and soul of Russia.

2. Patriarch’s Ponds

Patriarch’s Ponds is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Moscow. Despite the name being plural, there’s only one large pond, but it’s worth a visit with your camera. It’s a popular spot for locals and expats to come relax or take a stroll around the pond. You get an interesting mix of young and old too, from young love to “babushkas” feeding pigeons. It’s a very peaceful park atmosphere in one of the nicer areas within the city center, while bringing enough activity for street photography.

The pond is shallow and in the winter becomes a popular spot for ice-skating too. The area is also well-known for the location in the famous Russian novel, The Master and Margarita.

3. Old Arbat (Stary Arbat)

Old Arbat is the most famous pedestrian street in Moscow, and dating back to the 15th century, also one of its oldest. Originally, it was an area of trade, but soon became the most prestigious residential area in Moscow. During the 18th century, Arbat started attracting the city’s scholars and artists, including Alexander Pushkin. Cafes lined the streets and impressive homes filled the neighborhood. Since then, New Arbat street was created as a highway in the area, while Old Arbat was paved for a 1km pedestrian only walkway.

Due to the historic buildings, famous artists that lived here, and the bohemian atmosphere, Old Arbat has become a big attraction for tourists today. Now, there’s a mix of cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, street performers, street merchants and other attractions for visitors, and some locals, to come enjoy. It can get really busy here and there’s usually something interesting going on so it’s a good street to come walk with your camera for guaranteed life.

4. Gorky Park

One of the most famous places in Moscow is Gorky Park. The official name is Maxim Gorky’s Central Park of Culture & Leisure, which gives you an idea of what goes on here. When built, it was the first of its kind in the Soviet Union. Divided into two parts, it stretches along Moscow River. One end contains fair rides, foods stands, tennis courts, a sports club, a lake for boat rides, and more. This end brings more active life due to its number of attractions, while the other end is more relaxed, where you’ll find gardens, trees, older buildings, and an outdoor amphitheater.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

Gorky Park attracts mostly locals so it’s a good spot to capture the non-tourist side of Moscow life. Muscovites come here to escape the city and unwind in a picturesque setting. The park remains alive outside of the warmer months too, especially when the lake turns into the city’s largest outdoor skating rink. I’d recommend taking the metro out here to spend at least half a day exploring the massive park’s life with your camera.

5. Maroseyka Street

Maroseyka Street is a popular area not too far from the Red Square. The long, winding street turns into Pokrovka and is lined with restaurants, cafes, bars and places to stay. It’s actually where I like to stay when I’m in Moscow due to its location and solid street photography opportunities itself. You have Kitay-gorod station near and if you keep walking southwest, you’ll get to the Red Square. But if you walk northwest, as it changes to Pokrovka, you can find a long street of activity for photography with its own interesting atmosphere.

6. Tverskoy Boulevard

Tverskoy Boulevard is the oldest and longest boulevard in Moscow, beginning at the end of Nikitsky Boulevard, and finishing at Pushkin Square, a spot to come for activity itself. The boulevard is made up of two avenues, with pedestrian walkways in-between. You’ll find grass, shrubbery, trees, benches and more walking it’s almost kilometer length. Many people come here to enjoy some relaxation, walk their dog, or just to use it to walk wherever they’re going. Its center location also provides a nice place to walk with your camera near plenty of other spots you’ll want to check out anyway.

Sample Street Walk:

For a full day of Street Photography, covering some of the best spots, you can follow this sample street walk for Moscow:

  • Start your morning walking around the Red Square (1), while exploring the surrounding area, including Nikolskaya Street
  • Then walk northwest to Patriarch’s Ponds (2) and slowly walk the pond and surrounding area with your camera
  • Next, walk east to the Pushkin Monument and stroll down Tverskoy Boulevard (6)
  • Once Tverskoy Boulevard (6) ends, it will turn into Nikitsky Boulevard. Follow this down until you get to the start of Old Arbat Street (3), across from Arbatskaya station
  • After you’re done walking down Old Arbat Street (3) for more street photography, spend some time checking out Moscow’s beautiful metro stations
  • To finish off the day with more street photography, get off the metro near Red Square (1) again, Maroseyka Street (5) or wherever you’re staying for the night.

3 Things I’ll Remember about Shooting in Moscow:

1. museum metro.

The Moscow metro system was the first underground railway system in the Soviet Union and today includes 203 stations across 340km of routes. The elaborate system has some of the deepest stations in the world too, with escalators that seem to go on forever. None of this is what makes it so special, though. Many of its stations feel like stepping inside a museum, making it without a doubt the most interesting and beautiful metro system I’ve been in.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

When built, Stalin wanted to make the metro stations “palaces for the people” with marble, chandeliers, and grand architecture. The best part is the variety of architecture and styles used, making many of the stations a completely different experience visually. You could easily spend a whole day traveling the stations and there are even tours available for people who wish to do just that. My advice, though, would be just to buy a ticket and hop on and off at different stations, while exploring different lines. The museum-like surrounding mixed with the crowds of characters can make for a great photography experience.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

Since there are so many stations, here are some of my favorites to check out:

  • Novoslobodskaya
  • Mayakovskaya
  • Elektrozavodskaya
  • Komsomolskaya
  • Ploschad Revolyutsii
  • Dostoyevskaya
  • Prospekt Mira

2. Moscow is Big

It’s no secret that Moscow is a big city, but it can feel even bigger with how spread out much of it is. This is especially true if you compare it to cities outside of Asia. If I compared it to cities in Europe, I’d probably say only Istanbul would warrant more time to really discover the depths of this city. Most only explore around the Red Square and surrounding area, but that is such a small part of the city. Although, that central area does give you plenty to see on its own.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

Fortunately, I had a good friend living in the city to show me around, but it opened up my eyes even more to how much there is to discover in Moscow. It’s a big city with a variety of atmosphere that can take you from “east” to “west” and trendy to rugged depending on where you go. I’d imagine you’d have to live here a while to really know the city.

3. Cosmopolitan Mix of East meets West

Modern skyscrapers mixed with amazing architecture, a world-class metro system with museum-like beauty, trendy fashion and chic clubs, Moscow is a rich mix of Russian culture and history in a more western cosmopolitan package. There is a push to keep the Russian culture, while also pushing forward with a modern metropolis the whole world will envy. This comes with an impressive skyline, that continues to grow, and endless modernities, but with soviet nostalgia and atmosphere mixed in for good measure.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

Mixed in with this grand western cosmopolitan atmosphere, is a strong national pride in Russia. This includes their famous leader, Vladimir Putin. Maybe no other place will you see a country’s leader more often. All over, from the pricey tourist shops to the underground walkway stalls, you’ll find goods with Putin’s likeness covering them. From t-shirts to magnets to Matryoshka dolls. There’s a strong national pride that can be seen around the city, which also extends to their leader. Moscow is many things. It’s East meets West, modernizations meets Soviet era, and a whole lot more.

What To Do For a Street Photography Break?:

Eat at a stolovaya.

Stolovayas are Russian cafeterias that became popular in the Soviet days. You grab a tray and walk down the line of freshly prepared local dishes, and select whatever you want from the chefs. They’re usually inexpensive and a much better value than restaurants, while giving you the opportunity to try from a wide selection of everyday Russian food. They’re also very tasty. I always include some borsch on my tray and go from there. The places themselves are all over Moscow and usually come with Soviet-era aesthetics to complete the experience.

Street Safety Score: 7

*As always, no place is completely safe! So when I talk about safety, I’m speaking in general comparison to other places. Always take precaution, be smart, observe your surroundings and trust your instincts anywhere you go!

Being the 2nd largest city in Europe with over 12 million people, you’re going to have your dangerous areas, but for the most part, it feels safe walking around. Russia is statistically higher in crime compared to most of Europe, but this generally doesn’t apply to tourists and visitors. Around the Red Square and surrounding city center, you should feel completely safe walking around. Pick pocketing can happen, but no more than other touristic places. I always explore Moscow freely without coming across too much to worry about. It’s a spread out city, though, so of course it matters where you are. Just use basic street smarts, know where you are and Moscow shouldn’t give you a problem.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

People’s Reaction Score: 7

Moscow is fast paced, big city life, which usually means people aren’t too concerned with you, or your camera. I don’t find people notice or pay much attention to me when I’m out taking photos in Moscow. For the most part, people just go about their day. You shouldn’t get too many looks or concern. But it can depend on the area you are in. The more you stick out, the more you might get noticed with suspicions. I’ve never had any problems in Moscow, or Russia, but just be careful who you’re taking a photo of if you get out of the city center. Other than that, it’s about average for reactions.

Street Tips:

Learn the alphabet .

Much of Moscow, including the metro system, doesn’t use english. The Russian alphabet uses letters from the Cyrillic script, which if you aren’t familiar with it and don’t know the sounds, can be hard to decipher the words. This is most important for street names and metro stops when trying to get around. It can save confusion and make it easier getting around if you learn the basic alphabet. At the very least then, you can sound out the words to see which are similar in the english conversion, which can help matching them to maps. When out shooting street photography, getting around is as important as anything. So save yourself some time and frustration by learning the Russian Alphabet.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

Use the metro

While Saint-Petersburg feels very walkable for a city its size, Moscow can feel very spread out, even for its bigger size. Outside of the Red Square area, you can have plenty of walking before getting anywhere very interesting, so you’ll need to take the metro a lot if you really want to explore the city. Maps are deceiving here too, it will always be further than it looks.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

Another reason it’s less walkable than Saint-Petersburg is its completely different set-up. Moscow’s streets are mostly contstructed in rings with narrow, winding streets in-between. This is common with medieval city cities that used to be confined by walls, but you usually don’t have it in a city this massive. Saint-Petersburg has a more grid-like pattern that also uses the canals to help you know your way around. When it comes to navigating on foot in Moscow, it can be more difficult, so bring a map and take the metro when needed. It’s why Moscow’s metro carries more passengers per day than the London and Paris subways combined.

Explore other areas if you have time

Moscow is really big. While most people stay around the Red Square within the Boulevard Ring, there’s so much more to the city. I covered some other spots outside of this circle, but if you really want to see the city, you’ll need time. If you do have time, some other areas I’d check out first are Zamoskvarechye, along some of the south and western Moscow.

Inspiration:

For some more inspiration, you can look through the Street Photography of Moscow photographer Artem Zhitenev  and check out 33 of my photos taken in Moscow .

Conclusion:

Moscow’s name brings a certain mystique, but once you’re there it might bring a different atmosphere than you expect. It’s big and sprawling, but beautiful in many ways. It can feel like a European capital on a grand scale, but you can definitely find its Russian side in there.

elite sports tours buffalo bills reviews

The urban sprawl of Moscow can be intimidating, but give it enough time and you’ll be rewarded with plenty to discover. All with the world’s best metro system to take you around.

I hope this guide can help you start to experience some of what Moscow contains. So grab your camera and capture all that Moscow has to offer for Street Photography!
