Travel is an inevitable part of living in the Caribbean. Now that FLOW Jamaica is 1 million strong as per the celebration vibes captured in How Flow Jamaica celebrated 1 million customers with a 99 cents FAM Plan , having a reliable Network while you roam is more critical than ever!

So how do you make calls when you’re no longer in your country of origin?

Well, you can always use WhatsApp, but that’s if you have an unlocked Quad-Band smartphone and you can purchase a SIM from the Network in that country. Not to mention the people you call have to also have Skype or WhatsApp and have either an active Data plan or be in close proximity to reliable Wi-Fi.

Geezam - FLOW Jamaica MyRoam Prepaid, MyRoam Postpaid and One Rate Caribbean Roaming Plan - 05-07-2016 LHDEER

You can also purchase a MiFi from that country and then switch on your Wi-Fi and make all our calls via Skype and Wi-Fi. But if you’re going to be among regular people who are not teenagers or Millennials, you can’t depend on Wi-Fi, even from a portable MiFi.

Instead, you’ll need one of three (3) Roaming Plans from FLOW Jamaica:

  • MyRoam Prepaid
  • MyRoam Postpaid
  • One Rate Caribbean Roaming Plan

So here’s the details on the various Roaming Plans offered by FLOW Jamaica.

FLOW Jamaica’s MyRoam Plans – Out of plan rates are murderous

First, Choose your location in the Caribbean and where you want to Roam using the handy drop down box:

Then choose a Roaming plan. FLOW Jamaica has three (3) Prepaid Roaming plans, called MyRoam that give you Voice and Data and are activated as follows:

  • MyRoam Basic – *134*1#
  • MyRoam Max – *134*2#
  • MyRoam Data – *134*3#

Here’s a list of the MyRoam Roaming plans.

Please note if you exceed any of these plans, you’ll be charged out of plan rates as listed below.

flow roaming 4 - out of plan prepaid - 16-06-2016 LHDEER

Make sure you have your Credit card handy so that you can top up your plan when you exceed or the days run out via the various online portals as explained in When in the wild, Top-up your FLOW Jamaica or Digicel smartphone Online .

To check your voicemail, call you own number while roaming. To check your MyRoam plan while abroad, you’ll have to visit the Online Customer Care Portal.

So what about Roaming Plans for Postpaid Customers?

MyRoam Postpaid – Roaming Bolt-ons for MyPlan Basic Postpaid

The MyRoam Postpaid Roaming exists as Bolt-ons that you add on to your MyPlan Basic Postpaid plan as described in Flow Jamaica’s MyPlan Base Plan is Postpaid with Bolt-On Benefits .

There are Voice and Data Roaming Bolt-ons as listed below.

flow roaming 4 postpaid - 16-06-2016 LHDEER

And as with Prepaid MyRoam Plans, you’ll be charged out of plan rates as listed below.

flow roaming 4 Out Of Plan Postpaid - 16-06-2016 LHDEER

However, these Roaming plans really apply to the US, UK, Canada and the Caribbean. Since we already live in the Caribbean, shouldn’t there be a Roaming plan designed especially for the Caribbean?

One Rate Caribbean Roaming Plan – Because We are one Special Caribbean People

Fortunately there is; it’s called the One Rate Caribbean Roaming Plan and is as shown below.

flow roaming 4 one Rate Caribbean Roaming - 16-06-2016 LHDEER

This unifies us a Caribbean People, as instead of having different Roaming rates in the Caribbean, we can all roam on one Caribbean Rate. Then again, there is always using WhatsApp on Wi-Fi, so along as the people you’re calling have Wi-Fi.

When in Roam, roam with FLOW Jamaica. Sharing is caring so share this article with your friends, encouraging them to switch to FLOW Jamaica!

Flow Introduces New Flat Rate Roaming Plans with More Data and Free Incoming Calls

' src=

PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS, November 2, 2022 – Flow has made it much easier for their customers to stay connected and share their travel experiences with family and friends while abroad, with the launch of the company’s new roaming plans offering more data, flat rates, and free incoming calls and texts.

The new roaming plans offer one flat rate to more countries for both prepaid and postpaid mobile customers, and feature 1, 7 and 30-day plans with up to 2.5 Gigs of data, plus affordable talk rates from as low as $0.30 per minute depending on the destination.

Travelers will also receive timely updates on data consumption and plan renewal reminders, making it easier to remain connected while travelling.

flow jamaica travel pass

Missick explained, “The plans are divided into two regions: Zone 1 which covers 88 destinations including North America, Canada, and most islands within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), as well as Latin America and Europe. Countries in Zone 2 include the Asia Pacific Region such as Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, as well as Poland, Ukraine, Sweden, Pakistan and many more destinations.”

The new plans are a welcome and timely addition to Flow’s suite of products, as all major mobile carriers across the USA have discontinued their 3G networks and have transitioned to 4G LTE and/or 5G technologies.

There are three ways that customers can purchase a roaming plan when travelling: 1. Dial *129# and access the USSD menu to select the preferred roaming plan; 2. Download and use the Top Up Flow App; or 3. Visit http://roam.topupflow.com/ portal. This portal is FREE for Prepaid customers and allows the purchase of Roaming Packages with a balance or with a credit card. For postpaid mobile customers, the portal also allows the roaming plans to be charged to the customer’s monthly bill.

To enjoy the best roaming experience, Flow is encouraging its customers to:

  • Upgrade their mobile device from 3G to a 4G LTE or 5G device that supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE). Most current Android and IOS smartphones support this feature.
  • Upgrade their SIM card to an LTE SIM at the nearest Flow location for FREE;
  • Ensure that they subscribe to a suitable roaming package via their USSD menu before departure by dialing *129#
  • Ensure that the VoLTE feature in your device is activated and updated with the latest version.
  • Ensure that VoLTE is switched on prior to travelling.

MEDIA RELEASE

#TurksandCaicos, April 23, 2024 – Blue Hills resident KENDALL RONDRE DEAN has been convicted of murdering JOSHUA SWANN .

Mr. Dean, also called “Maddie”, “Mad Max”, and “Dre”, was found guilty by a nine-member jury yesterday (April 22nd) in the Grand Turk Supreme Court.

Following the verdict, Mr. Dean was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison, pending sentencing on 10th June 2024.

Based on the evidence presented, Mr. SWANN of Five Cays was shot multiple times about the body on Sunday, August 8th, 2021, while at North West Point, Providenciales.

Mr. Swann was transported to the Cheshire Hall Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives of the Serious Crimes Unit received a report, and following intensive investigations and interviews, Mr. Dean was arrested and subsequently charged.

Shortly after the verdict, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams said, “This conviction demonstrates the RTCIPF’s commitment to bringing to justice those who cause the most harm throughout our communities using illegal firearms.

“This is an example of the effective coordination of the various units across the Force in supporting the lead detective in bringing about this conviction. The RTCIPF is grateful for the information provided by witnesses who came forward.

Airports Authority aims for 24-hour airport and announces Scholarship programme

Dana Malcolm

Staff Writer

#TurksandCaicos, April 19, 2024 – In an attempt to move to 24-hour-a-day operations Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) is steadily recruiting Air Traffic Controllers to work at the Providenciales/Howard Hamilton International Airport, according to Godfrey Smith, TCIAA CEO, reporting to the Appropriations Committee.

Speaking on April 8th Smith said a cabinet paper would be sent soon requesting six more Air Traffic Controllers to make round the clock operation at the Provo International possible and to open the airport in Grand Turk till 12 a.m.

Currently, 17 posts are filled and seven are vacant.

Smith was candid with his responses to recent industrial action from ATCs which led to resignations and firings.

flow jamaica travel pass

Smith indicated that recruitment was an issue across the board, ‘we need to find ways to recruit a little bit better’ he told the committee. Also in need of a push was capital spending or projects according to the CEO, who said the agency had ‘not been very good’ at meeting that mark but insisted they had recognized the issue and could do better.

A very important key performance indicator drawn up by the TCIAA is increasing passenger satisfaction at the Howard Hamilton International Airport. For the TCIAA part of this means a 30 percent increase in seating by Q2 of this year.

When queried on if they could even handle this increase the CEO said,

“The fact of the matter is we already have the capacity there. What we need is to make the service a bit better.”

Staff shortages have become such a frustrating issue that the TCIAA is instituting a scholarship program created by Authority Chairman, Selvyn Hawkins

“What the board wants to do is basically allocate $25,000 annually for a scholarship and they’ve approved it already.”

This process would cover tuition and all other costs for one student.

The student would return as a summer intern and other breaks to work at the TCIAA and upon graduation, assume a role at the company.

“We identify a particular skill we need, we go after it and we build capacity that is in a nutshell the nexus of the program,” Smith said.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) is allocated $49 million this financial year; over $20 million goes to salaries.

Jamaica entry requirements: what do I need to visit?

By Anna Prendergast

Jamaican

As of Monday 4 October 2021, the UK’s traffic light system for travel has been scrapped. Now, there is simply a red list and a ‘rest of world’ list (which includes countries previously on the green and amber lists). Jamaica is now on this ‘rest of world’ list, so while travel there from the UK is now allowed, there are still some restrictions.

What do I need to know and do before I arrive in Jamaica?

Until Friday 29 October, anyone who has been in Argentina , Brazil , Chile , Colombia , Paraguay or Peru within 14 days of their intended date of entry to Jamaica will not be permitted entry unless they are a Jamaican citizen.

All travellers to Jamaica must apply for and obtain a Travel Authorization from the Visit Jamaica website, while travellers age 12 and above are required to show proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR or Antigen test taken within three days before arrival. Jamaica is currently operating a ‘Resilient Corridor’ system, whereby tourism services permitted to accept guests have been thoroughly inspected and are compliant with the required standards of training, protective equipment and processes under Covid-19 protocols designed and approved by The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The Resilient Corridors include the coastline from Negril to Port Antonio (North Coast Corridor) and from Milk River to Negril (South Coast Corridor).

Visitors staying in the Resilient Corridors don’t need to quarantine – and can move freely around within the ‘corridor’, visiting approved attractions. Fully vaccinated travellers staying outside of the Resilient Corridors must quarantine on arrival for eight days, while unvaccinated travellers must do so for 14.

What do I need to know and do before I return to the UK from Jamaica?

Fully vaccinated travellers returning to the UK from Jamaica must provide a Passenger Locator Form on return. Since Sunday 24 October, a lateral flow test has replaced a PCR test, to be taken on or before day two after return, and the results must be registered online . Travellers who are not fully vaccinated must still take a pre-departure test and PCR tests on or before days two and eight, as well as isolate for 10 days (with the option to test for release from day five, unless you are in Northern Ireland where this is not available). The UK’s travel rules are reviewed every three weeks.

Flow upgrades mobile pre-paid plans

Communications and entertainment company Flow recently upgraded its prepaid mobile offer.

In a press release, the company said, via its Endless Energy campaign, Flow prepaid customers now get international calling minutes to the USA and more any-use data across its various prepaid plans.

In addition, customers also enjoy unlimited social media, unlimited YouTube, unlimited Spotify, unlimited calling and texting to any local network as well as data for TikTok, the release stated.

Dwight Williams, Flow’s Commercial Director – Mobile, pointed out that the upgraded prepaid plans are part of the company’s ongoing commitment to deliver the best mobile value in Jamaica.

“Based on feedback, our customers want access to more data that allows them to get more done when online, and they want to keep in contact with family in the USA. Flow is committed to delivering on these customer expectations while providing the best value and the most options for our customers that fit their budget and lifestyle,” said Williams.

He further touted that Flow has the best prices and plans in the Jamaican market and that customers can get even greater savings by subscribing through the company’s digital platforms.

“Customers can easily access these plans at an even lower cost if they purchase them using the Top Up Flow App or at topupflow.com through to March 31. This gives our customers even greater value and the added benefit of convenience,” noted Williams.

The company also announced a loan increase up to $2,300 through its Flow Lend feature on its Top

Up Flow App. Flow Lend is ideal for customers who urgently require communication or internet access but do not have sufficient credit/data, the release stated.

“We invite customers who are on the other network to experience these great prices and benefits by switching to the Flow network while keeping their existing telephone number,” said Williams.
