Nord Course
Was dennoch möglich ist?

Glass Case of Emotion
Porsche European Open winner Marcus Armitage delivers tear-jerking interview of the century . . . also Zooms with his dog
Winning on a professional sports circuit is a rollercoaster—a glass case of emotion, if you’ll accept the Ron Burgundy-ism. There’s the triumph and validation sure, but also relief and exhaustion and the immediate, flooding reminder of everything you had to give up along the way. What we often mistake for tears of joy as some steely-eyed assassin sobs like a infant in the winner’s circle are really just tears of everything coming out all at once.
We wouldn’t exactly call European Tour pro Marcus Armitage a steely-eyed assassin, but on Sunday after claiming his first-ever European Tour win at the Porsche European Open, the sprinkler system fired up all the same, as big-hitting Brit remembered his late mother and congratulated himself on all his hard work over the years (something we could all be better at it). It was as touching an interview as they come and a must-watch for all the strivers, grinders, gutters, and gritters out there.
RELATED: European Tour pro credits his roommate's burritos for making record NINE birdies in a row
Not a dry eye in the clubhouse, nor should there be. But if you know anything about Armitage—a guy last seen hitting naked putts in his hotel room and flying a 300-yard drive into the back of a speeding BMW —you know that he’s usually producing laughs not tears. Thankfully, he delivered on that as well, jumping on a Zoom call with his dog (yes, a literal canine) a few short moments later. Let’s lighten the mood, shall we?
RELATED: Marcus Armitage, AKA "The Bullet," petting his new golf clubs is the funniest video you'll see today
Remember that one time you accidentally unmuted a work call and everyone heard calling your cat The Great Centurion Warrior Snowball McFlufflebutt? Well, that’s pretty much what Armitage is doing here, only in front of the entire world. Not that it will bother him one bit. First of all, we already covered the naked-putting-video thing. Second of all, he just validated his entire life with 72 holes of golf. When you’ve come that far, done all that, and sobbed in front of a stranger holding a microphone, you’ve earned the right to baby-talk your dog on Skype. Those are the rules, folks.

European Tour: Porsche European Open changes date and length due to Covid travel restrictions
The European Tour has announced next week's Porsche European Open in Germany will now take place over 54 holes and be played from Saturday June 5 to Monday June 7, due to the German government's decision to place the United Kingdom on its travel 'red list'
By Ali Stafford
Thursday 27 May 2021 20:44, UK
The Porsche European Tour has been given a late date switch and reduced to a 54-hole event due to coronavirus travel restrictions between the UK and Germany.
The tournament, due to be held from June 3-6 at Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg, has been pushed back 48 hours and shortened by a day, with the event now being played from Saturday June 5 to Monday June 7.
The late decision was made after the German government placed the United Kingdom on its 'red list' for travelling, meaning anyone entering the country that had not been outside the UK for a minimum of 10 days would be forced to observe a mandatory quarantine period.
Almost a third of the 156-player field, along with a similar number of caddies and a 'significant number' of European Tour staff and broadcast crew would have been affected without the last-minute change, with the move enabling the tournament to still go ahead
Keith Pelley, European Tour chief executive, said: "The significant travel changes announced last week meant it was simply impossible for us to start the Porsche European Open as intended a week today without unacceptably damaging the field and the integrity of the tournament.

"Over the past year we have had to react to numerous changes at short notice and our ability to do this has unquestionably been down to the flexibility of our players, caddies, staff, broadcaster partners and sponsors. This is another wonderful example of everybody working together pragmatically to find a solution.
"That has enabled us to not only provide vital playing opportunities for as many of our members as possible, but also to showcase this prestigious event, and Germany, properly to our global television audience."

The European Tour said in a press release that the 'vast majority' of people affected by the travel restrictions will be able to spend the required time outside the UK during and after this week's Made in Himmerland tournament in Denmark, before crossing the border into Germany next Friday.
England's Paul Casey and Abraham Ancer of Mexico, both inside the world's top 20, are both still set to feature, with former major champions Henrik Stenson and Martin Kaymer among the other notable names in the field.

2022 Porsche European Open final results: Prize money payout, leaderboard and how much each golfer won
The 2022 Porsche European Open final leaderboard is headed by winner Kalle Samooja, who earned the big DP World Tour win at Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg, Germany.
In a difficult Sunday, much like throughout the week, Samooja was the standout player. Samooja shot 64 in the final round, cruising up the leaderboard to finish on 6-under 282 and earn a two-shot win over Wil Besseling.
Last week's winner Victor Perez and Richard Mansell finished in a joint third-place position on 3-under total.
Samooja won the €291,660 winner's share of the €1,750,000 purse.
Porsche European Open recap notes
Samooja earned 24 Official World Golf Ranking points with the win. The field for the tournament was weak, but the points are critical for him.
There was a cut this week, with 73 players finishing the event in the 18th completed event of the season.
Samooja earns 460 points in the DP World Tour points standings for his win, getting into critical position in the season-long points race.
The 2022 European Tour schedule continues next week with the 2022 Scandinavian Mixed .

Porsche European Open Prize Money 2023
Porsche european open field 2023.
The DP World Tour moves to Green Eagle in Germany for the Porsche European Open.
Last year, Finn Kalle Samooja mastered one of the longest courses in Europe to claim his first win on the Tour after beating Will Besseling by two shots, and both players are in this week’s field.
There are some strong contenders hoping to perform well in their homeland. One is Maximilian Kieffer, who won the D+D Real Czech Masters last August, while another is Marcel Siem, who has more recent success on the Tour following his win in February’s Hero Indian Open. Nick Bachem is another German who will be looking for the backing of the home crowd to inspire him after his four-shot win in the Jonsson Workwear Open in South Africa in March.
However, the player carrying the hopes of most local fans will be Yannik Paul, who won the Mallorca Golf Open in October and has two runner-ups finishes in 2023 so far. That’s left him well in contention for a place in Luke Donald’s European Ryder Cup team for the biennial event at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club .
Another player riding high in the European Ryder Cup Points List is Spaniard Jorge Campillo, who finished eighth at the Rome venue in the Italian Open and is a relatively recent winner on the Tour following his Magical Kenya Open victory in March.
Marcus Armitage closed out a two-shot win in this tournament in 2021, and he also plays, looking for his second DP World Tour victory. Two other Englishmen who’ve won the tournament in recent years are Richard McEvoy and Jordan Smith, who also play.
Others who will be keen to follow up recent successes include Swede Simon Forsstrom, who secured his maiden DP World Tour win in the Soudal Open two weeks ago, while SDC Championship winner Matthew Baldwin also plays.
