What is a safari suit?

At its core, this is a suit that will help you protect yourself against any potential challenges during a trip in the savanna. It’s a very good idea to have a safari suit because it protects you against any problems. You can pair a safari jacket with dedicated shorts or trousers and it will become a safari suit.

The main idea here is to have a suit that offers protection against many of the challenges that appear in the wilderness. There can be insect bites , predators attacking and so on. The safari suit is designed to be inconspicuous, so you can explore the region at your own pace without worrying about any possible problems that can appear.

As we mentioned earlier, the best safari suit is the one that will not make you stand out. The main colors for this tend to be beige, brown, tan or khaki, although you can find some white safari suits too. The idea here is that you want to avoid any impact on the wildlife, instead you want to be camouflaged and experience the wildlife in its most natural format.

Bright colors will most likely make you stand out in the environment. When that happens, you end up scaring the animals, and that’s definitely something you must take into consideration as much as you can. If you would have safari suits that are blue for example or very dark, these will attract a lot of insects that carry yellow fever, dengue fever and malaria, among many others. That’s why specific coloring is very important because it will help you stay safe.

What kinds of safari suits are there?

You can have the standard safari jacket which has the traditional length, it comes with multiple pockets and it should fit perfectly. You also have the mid-length jacket which is shorter and that can be a bit easier to wear. If you want to traverse challenging territories, the bush jacket is very handy.

This one has a belt around the waist and it can have either a similar length or it can be longer when compared to other jackets.

Lastly, you have safari bomber jackets that are made out of polyester fabric. Most of these tend to have 4 path pockets, zippered front and an inside pocket. They are the most durable and dependable, but also the most expensive.

You can also get a safari vest if you want, this one is designed to offer the extra warmth and protection you may need. It also delivers extra pockets too, which is something you need to take into consideration as much as you can.

What to wear with a safari suit?

The upper garments would usually include a shirt under the jacket. Some people want a sleeveless option because it can get very hot. There’s also the option for long sleeves, depending on your own needs and requirements.

For the lower garments, you want to have either shorts or khaki trousers. Women can go for leggings if they want to. Long skirts can be a good idea too, since they offer added protection. When it comes to what footwear you need, you do want safari boots or hiking shoes. Slip on or closed shoes are ok too, but it’s better to go with boots or something that delivers an even better protection.

How to wear a safari suit?

Ideally, you want to use the safari suit when you go in a safari trip with a designated guide. You want to have a shirt, a jacket on top of it, safari trousers and proper shoes. You can adapt everything according to your own needs, and the results can be very interesting once you go down this route. You will be incredibly impressed with the value and results, and the experience is amazing because of it.

Do you need a safari hat?

Yes, normally you do, because there can be all kinds of hazards in the wilderness. A good safari hat needs to be waterproof, to provide you with proper coverage and it should help you fight against the UV rays. Obviously it needs to be comfortable and when it comes to material it can be cotton based, rubber or leather based.

It’s important to know where and also when you are going on a safari. This will make it easy to identify the proper equipment you need. If you visit during the dry season, then the equipment above will do just fine. Mens Safari Trousers & Shorts Read our Mens Safari Trousers & Shorts Advice Guide

• Pack men's safari trousers which are made in safari-suitable colours. These are ideally shades of khaki, brown, and green.
• The men's safari trousers go-to product will always be zip-off or convertible men's safari trousers and pants. These are designed for maximum versatility no matter the conditions on safari: trousers when cool, shorts when hot - and they save on valuable packing space by being two garments in one. The leg sections also give added protection from the sun and defence from most biting insects - especially when treated with built-in SPF and anti-insect treatment. For walking safaris, having separate waterproof leg sections for your men's safari pants which provide insect defence work the best.
• Should you prefer to also pack separate men's safari trousers and men's safari shorts, then make sure you work out the duration of your activity and wear either trousers or the shorts depending on the weather during that activity. There is no use starting off warm with men's safari trousers when its cold in the morning only to be boiling hot later on in the day. Another option if you prefer separate safari trousers and safari shorts would be to take shorts or trousers with you on the safari activity in a satchel or daypack and change while on the activity.
• The ideal men's safari trousers and shorts are lightweight, strong, provide a high level of sun protection (SPF50+ is recommended), and have an anti-insect finish. Wicking is less important from a sweat and cooling point of view, as your legs don't sweat as much as your upper body, but wicking would be important in ensuring that, should your safari trousers get wet from the rain or a water-based activity - or even just the morning dew while walking - that they dry very quickly.
• Men's safari trousers which are made from man-made fibres (such as polyamide) are preferable to those made from natural fibres (such as cotton) for their moisture wicking properties, ensuring that you stay cool and dry on safari.

Number of men's safari trousers and shorts to pack for your safari: Up to 4-day safari: x 2 (1+1); Up to 8-day safari: x 3 (2+1); Up to 12-day safari: x 4 (2+2) We have shown the number of men's safari trouser zip-offs/convertibles as the first number - "x 3"- and the men's safari trousers plus men's safari shorts combination in brackets - e.g. (2+1). Always make sure that you pack the total number whether you opt for safari zip-offs, safari trousers, or safari shorts, but always have a combination of safari shorts and trousers. As an example, for an 8-day safari, you could take one pair of zip-offs, one pair of trousers, and one pair of shorts - or 3 pairs of zip-offs, or two pairs of shorts and one pair of trousers - or vice versa.

Semi-Formal/Casual Wedding Attire for Father of the Groom: Dads with permission to dress down (or at least a notch down from formal garb) should still make an effort to look their best and stand out from the rest of the guests. A nice, simple suit is always a good call, whether it's with proper suit attire for a semi-formal wedding or dressed down with a camp-collar shirt in the summer or a sweater in the colder months. For a rustic farmhouse/barn wedding it's always a good call to go with a dress shirt, suit vest, and matching trousers (but leaving the jacket at home, weather-permitting). And in either case, mixing suit separates is also a safe bet.

Beach Wedding Attire for Father of the Bride: If the beach wedding in question still has a more formal dress code, a linen suit is always going to have you looking great and keeping cool. If the dress code is more laid back, this is where it's okay to leave the pants at home and instead go for a nice pair of dressy shorts. Pair them with a camp-collar shirt or a linen button-down and you'll be ready to escort the bride.

The color of your father of the bride suit and the accessories you pair with it depends on the dress code of the wedding and the couple. Be sure to check in with them before planning whether to wear a black or blue tux or whether or not to wear dress shoes or loafers.

Should the Bride's Father and Mother Match?

A bit of synchronicity with the mother of the bride when dressing up never hurts (matching your tie to their dress is always a classy call), but there are no hard rules on coordinating between the father and mother of the bride unless the bride has specifically requested it. This is, once again, something you should check with the bride and groom on before getting dressed.

For Ron Goldman’s family, O.J. Simpson’s death evokes a ‘mixed bag’ of emotions

In the decades since Ron Goldman was fatally stabbed outside his friend Nicole Brown Simpson’s Brentwood home in 1994, Goldman’s family has been battling for what it sees as justice denied.

O.J. Simpson, once an American football star, was charged with killing Goldman and his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson . But he was acquitted in 1995 in a drama-filled and widely broadcast trial that enthralled the nation.

The Brown and Goldman families then brought a civil suit against Simpson. In 1997, a jury in Santa Monica found him liable for the deaths, and he was ordered to pay the families more than $30 million in damages. Simpson responded by giving up his Brentwood estate and moving to Florida, in large part to evade paying the civil judgment. The Goldman family claimed in court records that Simpson paid only a fraction of the judgment amount.

On Thursday, they reacted to Simpson’s death .

“The news of Ron’s killer passing away is a mixed bag of complicated emotions and reminds us that the journey through grief is not linear. For three decades we tirelessly pursued justice for Ron and Nicole, and despite a civil judgment and his confession in ‘If I Did It,’ the hope for true accountability has ended,” Ron’s sister Kim Goldman and father Fred Goldman wrote in a joint statement.

David Cook, an attorney for the Goldman family, said Thursday that Simpson “died without penance.”

O.J. Simpson, whose rise and fall from American football hero to murder suspect to prison inmate fueled a public drama that obsessed the nation, has died.

For more than two decades, the Goldmans have chased down secret hordes of Simpson’s memorabilia; taken possession of “If I Did It,” the “fictional memoir” in which Simpson discussed how he might have committed the slayings; and spoken out against a criminal justice system that they say ignores victims’ rights.

In a 2019 interview with The Times , Kim Goldman talked about her efforts to hold Simpson accountable.

She said she does not use his name. He is simply “the killer,” the “murdering liar.”

“He doesn’t deserve more,” she said.

“It is always, and most importantly, about remembering Ron and Nicole.”

It is not clear how Simpson’s death will affect the debt still owed to the Goldman family from the civil judgment, which has ballooned to $114.2 million including interest, Cook said.

Simpson had paid just over $132,000 of the total liability, according to a 2015 court document.

In their statement, the Goldmans said they would “continue to advocate for the rights of all victims and survivors, ensuring our voices are heard both within and beyond the courtroom. And despite his death, the mission continues; there’s always more to be done.”

The death of Simpson, whose journey from football legend to accused murderer captivated the nation, has triggered widespread discussion of his legacy .

Simpson’s family said on X that he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren when he died on Wednesday. He was 76 and had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, according to his social media.

“During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace,” the X post read.

After the criminal and civil trials, Simpson didn’t fall out of the public spotlight for long. In 2007, the planned publication of “If I Did It,” triggered outrage. A year later, he was convicted of armed robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy and other charges stemming from his attempt to recover memorabilia he claimed was stolen from him. He served nine years in prison.

Civil rights attorney Carl Douglas, who was among the “dream team” of lawyers representing Simpson during his murder trial, said he was shocked to learn of the death of his former client, who always maintained he was innocent.

“He is one of the most famous clients that I have ever represented in my 44 years as a lawyer, and I expect our names will forever be linked together in some way. My sincere condolences go out to his four children. May he rest in peace,” Douglas said.

Gloria Allred, a civil rights attorney who represented the Brown family during Simpson’s murder trial, offered condolences to Simpson’s children, but said she doesn’t mourn the man who she maintains killed Nicole Brown Simpson.

“I do mourn for Nicole Brown Simpson and her family. They should be remembered. The system failed,” Allred said during an interview on WABC-TV in New York.

Caitlyn Jenner, who was once friends with Simpson and was formerly married to Nicole Simpson’s best friend, Kris Jenner , offered a cutting response to news of his death, posting on X just two words: “Good Riddance.”

Ron Goldman ’s family is emphasizing the “pain” they’ve lived with since his 1994 murder.

On Thursday, just hours after O.J. Simpson ’s family announced he had died of cancer at the age of 76, Fred Goldman, Ron’s father, gave a statement to People magazine about the death of the controversial NFL player and actor.

“This is just a reminder for us of how long Ron has been gone, how long we have missed him and nothing more than that,” Fred Goldman told the magazine. “That is the only thing that is important today. It is the pain from then until now. There is nothing today that is more important than the loss of my son and the loss of Nicole. Nothing is more important than that.”

In 1994, Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were found stabbed to death outside Brown Simpson’s condominium in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Days after their deaths, Simpson was arrested after leading police on a slow-speed freeway chase in his white Ford Bronco, an event that was broadcast live to millions of viewers.

Simpson’s trial in the murder case became a media frenzy that engrossed the American public. Simpson was acquitted on Oct. 3, 1995, but was found liable for Goldman’s and Brown Simpson’s deaths in a civil suit almost two years later.

Ron Goldman’s Dad on O.J. Simpson’s Death: ‘The Only Thing’ That Is ‘Important’ Are the ‘Victims’

Ron Goldman ’s dad, Fred Goldman , has broken his silence on O.J. Simpson ’s death.

“The only thing I have to say is that today is a further reminder of how long Ron has been gone and how long we have missed him,” he told Us Weekly on Thursday, April 11. “The only thing that is truly important today are the victims.”

News broke on Thursday that Simpson died at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer . “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren,” the Simpson family shared in a statement via X. “During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

While Simpson rose to fame as a football standout, his name became rooted in infamy when his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron (a close friend of Brown Simpson) were found stabbed to death outside of her Los Angeles home in 1994. (They wed in 1985, but their marriage ended in 1992.)

O.J. Simpson Through The Years: His Life and Controversies

Following a low speed Bronco chase through the city and highways around Los Angeles, Simpson was arrested and subsequently charged with the murders of which he was acquitted. The trial, a.k.a The Trial of the Century, served as the inspiration for the 2016 limited series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story .

Simpson was later found liable for the wrongful death of and battery against Ron in a civil suit filed by Ron’s family. Simpson was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the victims’ families. It was reported in February that Simpson was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, but the former NFL athlete never publicly confirmed his diagnosis. When rumors swirled that he was in hospice, Simpson took to social media to deny the speculation .

“Hospice? Hospice?! You talkin’ about hospice?” Simpson said in a video posted via X in February. “No, I’m not in any hospice. I don’t know who put that out there.”

Simpson’s legal woes resurfaced in the media when he was arrested in September 2007 after leading a group of men into a room at a Las Vegas hotel and casino to steal sports memorabilia. He was charged with a number of felony counts, including kidnapping and armed robbery.

Fred Goldman, father of Ron Goldman, says his thoughts are with his son and Nicole Brown Simpson following the news of O.J. Simpson ’s death at the age of 76. Simpson was accused and later acquitted of killing Goldman and Brown Simpson in 1994. He was found liable, however, in a wrongful death civil suit brought by Goldman’s family in 1997.

“The only thing I have to say is that today is just a further reminder of how long we have missed my son, how long he’s been gone, and the only thing that is important today are the victims,” Goldman tells Rolling Stone . “That’s it. I have nothing else to say.”

Brown Simpson and Goldman were found stabbed to death outside her Los Angeles home on June 12, 1994. The murders led to one of the most infamous court cases in American history, with Simpson charged with the two murders. The trial was a media circus that spanned 10 months in 1995 and ultimately ended with Simpson’s acquittal. 

In 2021, Goldman said he was surprised that Simpson told the sports news outlet The Athletic that a serious coronavirus infection he contracted left him contemplating his own death for the first time. “Honestly, the only thing that strikes a chord with me is that he didn’t think about death before. I think about his death all the time. I can think of no one better suited to be underground,” Goldman told the New York Daily News .

Simpson’s children announced his death, saying their father died April 10 after a private battle with cancer. “He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

Few details about his diagnosis have been released. Earlier this year, a television station in Las Vegas, where Simpson had been living, reported that he was undergoing treatment for cancer, and while Simpson neither confirmed nor denied the reports, he did rebuff rumors that he was in hospice care. Just before the Super Bowl, he posted a video on social media saying his health was good, adding, “I mean, obviously, I’m dealing with some issues, but I think I’m just about over it.”

O.J. Simpson, acquitted murder defendant and football star, dies at age 76

O.J. Simpson, the acquitted California murder defendant, former football star and actor, has died, his agent confirmed to CBS News. He was 76.

A statement posted to social media  by Simpson's family said he died of cancer Wednesday. Simpson's agent said he had prostate cancer .

"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren," the family's statement said.

Simpson was famously acquitted in the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman, in a case that dominated headlines and TV screens for months. He was later found liable for their deaths by a jury in a civil trial.

David Cook, an attorney who has been seeking since 2008 to collect the civil judgment in the Goldman case, said he spoke with Fred Goldman, father of Ron, on Thursday about Simpson's death. Cook declined to say what Fred Goldman said or where he was.

"He died without penance," Cook said of Simpson. "We don't know what he has, where it is or who is in control. We will pick up where we are and keep going with it."

"He had a very complicated legacy," attorney Carl E. Douglas, who was on Simpson's legal team during the murder trial, told CBS News. He said Simpson's legacy included his accomplishments on the football field and successful move from athletics to becoming a highly sought-after pitchman.

"Before Michael Jackson, before Tiger Woods, there was O.J. Simpson running through airports and highways hawking cereal, cars and rental car agencies," Douglas said.

Simpson earned fame, fortune and adulation through football and show business, but his legacy was forever changed by the June 1994 knife slayings in Los Angeles.

Evidence found at the scene seemed overwhelmingly against Simpson. Blood drops, bloody footprints and a glove were there. Another glove, smeared with blood, was found at his home.

The knife used in the slayings has never been found. In 2016, Los Angeles police said a retired officer turned in a knife that was allegedly found years earlier by a construction worker during the demolition of Simpson's estate. Police concluded the knife wasn't the murder weapon .

On the night of the murders, Simpson flew overnight to Chicago to play in a golf tournament and checked into a hotel near O'Hare airport. While at the hotel, he claimed that he had cut his hand on a broken glass.

When he was back in LA, authorities said he reneged on a promise to surrender, and live TV coverage of his arrest after a famous slow-speed chase marked a stunning fall from grace for the sports hero.

He had seemed to transcend racial barriers as the star Trojans tailback for college football's powerful University of Southern California in the late 1960s, as a rental car ad pitchman rushing through airports in the late 1970s, and as the husband of a blonde and blue-eyed high school homecoming queen in the 1980s.

"I'm not Black, I'm O.J.," he liked to tell friends.

The public was mesmerized by his "trial of the century" on live TV. His case sparked debates on race, gender, domestic abuse, celebrity justice and police misconduct.

The trial 's prosecutors, defense attorneys and witnesses became household names. Watercooler conversations nationwide focused on prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden, Judge Lance Ito, Simpson's houseguest Kato Kaelin, homicide detective Mark Fuhrman  and Simpson's "dream team" of defense attorneys, including legendary lawyer Johnnie Cochran .

Simpson didn't testify, but the prosecution asked him to try on the gloves in court. He struggled to squeeze them onto his hands and spoke his only three words from the trial: "They're too small."

Cochran told the jurors, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."

The jury found him not guilty of murder in 1995, but a separate civil trial jury found him liable in 1997 for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to family members of Brown and Goldman. 

A decade later, still shadowed by the California wrongful death judgment, Simpson led five men he barely knew into a confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers in a cramped Las Vegas hotel room. Two men with Simpson had guns. A jury convicted Simpson of armed robbery and other felonies. 

Imprisoned at age 61, he served nine years in a remote northern Nevada prison, including a stint as a gym janitor. He was not contrite when he was released on parole in October 2017.

The parole board heard him insist yet again that he was only trying to retrieve sports memorabilia and family heirlooms stolen from him after his criminal trial in Los Angeles. 

"I've basically spent a conflict-free life, you know," claimed Simpson, whose parole ended in late 2021.

Public fascination with Simpson never faded. Many debated if he had been punished in Las Vegas for his acquittal in Los Angeles. In 2016, he was the subject of both an FX miniseries and five-part ESPN documentary.

"I don't think most of America believes I did it," Simpson told The New York Times in 1995, a week after a jury determined he did not kill Brown and Goldman. "I've gotten thousands of letters and telegrams from people supporting me."

Twelve years later, following an outpouring of public outrage, Rupert Murdoch canceled a planned book by the News Corp-owned HarperCollins in which Simpson offered his hypothetical account of the killings. It was to be titled, "If I Did It."

Goldman's family, still doggedly pursuing the multimillion-dollar wrongful death judgment, won control of the manuscript . They retitled the book "If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer."

"It's all blood money, and unfortunately I had to join the jackals," Simpson told The Associated Press at the time. He collected $880,000 in advance money for the book, paid through a third party.

"It helped me get out of debt and secure my homestead," he said.

Less than two months after losing the rights to the book, Simpson was arrested in Las Vegas.

Simpson played 11 NFL seasons, nine of them with the Buffalo Bills, where he became known as "The Juice" on an offensive line known as "The Electric Company." He won four NFL rushing titles, rushed for 11,236 yards in his career, scored 76 touchdowns and played in five Pro Bowls. His best season was 1973, when he ran for 2,003 yards — the first running back to break the 2,000-yard rushing mark.

"I was part of the history of the game," he said years later, recalling that season. "If I did nothing else in my life, I'd made my mark."

Of course, Simpson went on to other fame.

One of the artifacts of his murder trial, the carefully tailored tan suit he wore when he was acquitted, was later donated and placed on display at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Simpson had been told the suit would be in the hotel room in Las Vegas, but it turned out it wasn't there.

Orenthal James Simpson was born July 9, 1947, in San Francisco, where he grew up in government-subsidized housing projects.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled at City College of San Francisco for a year and a half before transferring to the University of Southern California for the spring 1967 semester.

He married his first wife, Marguerite Whitley, on June 24, 1967, moving her to Los Angeles the next day so he could begin preparing for his first season with USC — which, in large part because of Simpson, won that year's national championship.

Simpson won the Heisman Trophy in 1968. He accepted the statue the same day that his first child, Arnelle, was born.

He had two sons, Jason and Aaren, with his first wife; one of those boys, Aaren, drowned as a toddler in a swimming pool accident in 1979, the same year he and Whitley divorced.

Simpson and Brown were married in 1985. They had two children, Justin and Sydney, and divorced in 1992. Two years later, Nicole Brown Simpson was found murdered.

"We don't need to go back and relive the worst day of our lives," he told the AP 25 years after the double slayings. "The subject of the moment is the subject I will never revisit again. My family and I have moved on to what we call the 'no negative zone.' We focus on the positives."
