Staying in one of the Star Wars Hotel guest rooms can be an adventure all on its own. I mean it better be for the $5,000+ price tag it costs to stay there. But just what are the guest cabins like? Let’s take a look at the Galactic Starcruiser hotel rooms and find out!

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Guest Room

In this post, we are going to give you a full tour of a guest cabin on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser including photos and video of the entire space and our thoughts after staying here. We’ll let you know the pros & cons of the rooms , if they are comfortable and if they can really fit 4-5 adult guests.

While it’s true you won’t be spending that much time in your hotel room with all the other exciting experiences onboard, it still is important to have a comfortable place to lay your head at the end of a long day of completing missions on the Halcyon.

Really, they are much more than that. The stateroom cabins keep you in character and fully immersed in the story during your galactic-inspired journey.

We’ll also break down the difference between the 3 types of rooms and what’s included with each, and also how they compare to regular Disney World Resort hotel rooms. While they definitely aren’t your standard hotel rooms, they are for sure one of the best-themed and “coolest” rooms you will find in Walt Disney World and we absolutely loved staying in them.

  • Room Configuration: 2 queen beds, 2 berths (bunk beds) for one adult each, and 2 wall pull-down beds for one adult each

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Rooms Grand Captain's Suite

The vast majority of cabins are standard rooms and they are also the most popular room type on the Galactic Starcruiser because of the size and it is the cheapest of the three types.

Just keep in mind that the size of all three rooms is not comparable to the other Walt Disney World Resort hotels but they are smaller and feel more like true cruise ship rooms than regular hotel rooms. This fits the narrative of getting people out of their rooms and into the overall experience, so come with those expectations.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Room Prices

There are a million reasons why we loved our stay at the Star Wars Hotel, but the price was definitely not one of them. The cost of your stay on the Galactic Starcruiser will vary depending on how many people are in your group, what cabin type you choose, and the dates of your visit.

A 2-night, 2-day stay on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser starts at $4,809 for a 2 guest room. And that’s in August/September, the cheapest time of the year to go to Disney World . That means most of the year you are looking at $5,000+ for two people and $6,000+ for 4 people.

The basic thing to know is that the cost is on a per guest, per night basis, and the more people you have in your group, the less it comes out to per person. Also, the two Suites cost more money than the Standard Cabins.

We definitely recommend reading our post on “ How Much Does the Galactic Starcruiser Cost? ” to get a more detailed breakdown of everything.

Galactic Starcruiser Rooms vs. Other Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Rooms

Disney's Riviera Resort Hotel Room

Before we give you the full tour of a Galactic Starcruiser cabin, you should understand there is a big difference between the rooms here and the rooms in a traditional Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

The guest cabins at the Star Wars Hotel are smaller than what you would find in other Disney World Resorts and less important during your journey. Sure, getting a good night’s sleep is always important, but there are so many activities and entertainment options on the Starcruiser , that the guest cabins really take a back seat.

On the contrary, at other Disney World Resorts, the hotel rooms are usually one of the top 2 or 3 reasons for staying at a particular resort and you want something more comfortable where you can relax in your downtime. Don’t worry, no downtime on the Starcruiser!

Disney's Gran Destino Resort Hotel Room

Another big area in which the two types of rooms differ is the price. On our Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser stay we paid a grand total of $5,415.79 . That breaks down to $2,707.89 per night. That number includes a few drinks we ordered, but it was mostly the package for the room and experience.

Many Disney World vacations can cost that much or more, but here we are talking about a 2-day voyage, not a week or more.

If you look up other resorts for those dates (March 1st and 2nd), you could have stayed at the Grand Floridian Resort for $1,740 ($857 per night), Disney’s Beach Club Resort for $1,332 ($666 per night), or Disneys Polynesian Village Resort for $1,470 ($735 per night).

Obviously, you are getting a very different experience here, but the price needs to be taken into consideration.

How Big is a Standard Cabin on the Galactic Starcruiser?

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room Standard Cabin

A standard guest cabin on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is approximately 200 square feet. Ok, so just how big is that?

When we compare a hotel room at the Galactic Starcruiser to another 200 sq ft is really small. In fact, these are now the smallest hotel rooms at any Walt Disney World Resort Hotel.

To give you an idea, the Value Resorts like Disney’s All-Star Sports or Art of Animation are about 260 sq feet. A standard room at a Deluxe Resort on the other hand like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is 440 sq ft. That’s more than twice as big as a standard cabin at the Star Wars Hotel.

Disney's Art of Animation Resort Hotel Room

Strangely enough, when we stayed on the Starcruiser there were 2 of us, and we had plenty of floor space and did not feel cramped walking around or have trouble finding a place for our bags. Due to the smaller square footage however, 5 people would get pretty cozy IMO.

It’s a good thing the Starcruiser keeps you busy, and quite honestly, we didn’t spend hardly any time in the room, just to sleep and get changed. Remember, it’s not like a regular resort where you might want to go back to the room and chill for a while. You will be out of the room way more than not so it shouldn’t be an issue.

If you find yourself in a group of 4 or more people, try to pack as lightly as possible so the bags aren’t taking up a ton of space in the room.

Do the Guest Rooms on the Star Wars Hotel Really Sleep 4 or 5 Adult Guests?

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Bed and Bunk Beds

Even though they don’t look very big, they can actually sleep 4 or even 5 adults pretty comfortably. The main bed is Queen-sized so it can fit 2 adults. Yes, a King would be better, but unless you really like to sprawl out, you shouldn’t have an issue.

The Bunk Beds (or Berths as Disney likes to call them) also can hold one adult each. They are long enough and wide enough that I had no problem sleeping in them and I’m not a small guy. That brings the total to 4.

Some of the standard cabins also have a pulldown bed on the wall under the TV that fits another person. This isn’t as large as the bunk beds, so you’ll want to put the smallest adult of the group there.

Standard Cabin Room Tour

Star Wars Hotel Guest Room

Ok, now that we got some of the basic info about the Star Wars Hotel cabins out of the way, what do they actually look like and what is it like to sleep about the Galactic Starcruiser? Let’s take a full tour of our Standard Guest Cabin that we stayed in during our voyage.

Each standard cabin has one Queen Bed, and two Bunk Beds, which fit 4 guests. Some have a pull-out bed under the TV for a 5th guest.

Before we can look at the room, we need to actually get there. Your trip starts in the Atrium when you arrive onboard, but when you are ready to go to your cabin, just take the elevator or the stairs to the floor your room is on.

Elevators in hallway of Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel

Ours was on Deck 4 which is the bottom floor of the building. There are guest rooms on three floors, Deck 4, Deck 5, and Deck 7, and they are equally spread out on each level.

There is one long hallway on each floor where all the guest cabins are located.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Hallway

This however, is not an ordinary hallway you find in any resort, and you immediately start to see the details that you are indeed on a spaceship.

The wall panels are much different, and the doors really stand out.

Guest Cabin door from hallway

Outside each cabin door, there is a decorative panel with the room number on it, plus a keypad where you scan your MagicBand to enter the room. This certainly is the coolest way we’ve ever seen to enter a hotel room before!

Keypad to enter Hotel Rooms

You can easily see the MagicBand tap point here on the panel. When it is waiting to be opened, the light is blue.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room MagicBand Tap point

Once you scan your MagicBand over it, the light turns red, giving you access to the cabin.

Opening door to Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

Another thing we liked about the doors were the heavy-duty handles, and the overall weight of the door. The handle twists down to one side to open it and the door then slides open, it doesn’t swing open like a normal hotel room door.

Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room door handle

The door itself was very heavy and needed some elbow grease to open. Not cheap-feeling by any means.

Once you step inside the guest cabin, you find yourself in a small hallway.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room Door

There is a vanity with a mirror and closets on the left, the bathroom is on the right, and the bedroom is straight ahead.

Inside main entrance of guest cabin

Here is another view from the bedroom.

The vanity is one place you can put down some small things like your wallet or it’s also a place to charge your phone. There isn’t a coffee maker in the room, unfortunately, but there honestly isn’t space enough for one.

Halcyon comic and water on the counter

Right away you will notice the glass water bottle to the side, along with two metal drinking cups.

Water cups and bottle on counter near mirror

We appreciate the style, but weren’t fans of drinking from a metal cup. The glass water bottle on the other hand comes in very handy as you can bring it to the atrium where there is a water refill station. You can choose from sparkling or still water, either cold or ambient.

Also on the vanity was a Halcyon Legacy comic book. Take a few minutes and read up about the history of the Halcyon ship to get you in the mood for your upcoming adventure.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

We’re going to skip by the bathroom for the moment and head into the bedroom straight ahead.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room Entrance

Once you walk into the main living area, you really feel the theming of the room and it feels “Star Wars.”

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room Main Floor Area

There is a Queen bed in the middle of the room, a TV on the left wall, and the window into space on the far side of the room. There are also 2 bunk beds around the corner to the right.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Guest Cabin

They have a distinct “space-feel” to them with white walls, and light panels and buttons everywhere you’d expect to see on a starcruiser.

Many people have likened the bedroom in the Star Wars Hotel to staying in prison because of its small size. Yes, the room is tiny, on level with many of the Disney Cruise Line rooms, but we didn’t think it was that noticable.

Standard Guest Room Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Resort

Honestly, it looks much smaller in photos than it does when you are inside it. I don’t know how Disney does it, maybe it’s the unique layout, but the room definitely makes the best use of the approximately 200 square feet it has to work with.

Star Wars Hotel Guest Room

On our visit, there were two of us in the room and we had plenty of walking space around the beds, even with our suitcases in the room.

Standard Guest Cabin Star Wars Hotel

This would be a lot tighter obviously with 4 adults, but for 2 nights you can make it work.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

Overall we really like the style of the room and its unique style and shapes perhaps make it the best-themed room in Walt Disney World. They definitely keep you immersed in the story.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Resort Guest Cabin

Even though you won’t be spending a ton of time in your guest cabin, the most important feature of the rooms are the beds. Let’s face it, if the bed isn’t big enough or comfortable enough, you aren’t going to get a good night’s rest and wake up ready to go in the morning.

The standard guest cabins on the Galactic Starcruiser have 3 beds. 1 Queen Bed and 2 Bunk Beds, or Berths as Disney calls them. There are no King-sized beds available in any of the guest cabins.

The queen bed is located in the middle of the room and is big enough for 2 people.

Bed in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Guest Room

We’ve heard some people complain about the mattress on the queen bed saying it is too firm. Honestly, we didn’t feel that way and we thought the support/comfort ratio was pretty good. We don’t like sleeping on a really soft mattress though and don’t use a pillow-top, so if you are used to those, you may not like it.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Queen Bed

The white quilted sheets on top of the bed are very light. There was a thin white one, and an orange and gray blanket runner on top of that with the Chandrila Star Line Starcruiser logo. Everything was light yet pretty comfortable.

The bed has pillows with covers made from a similar material as the quilted sheets.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Pillows

2 of the pillows were a little softer and the other 2 more firm so it was easy to make a nice combination to find the right match. We aren’t too picky about pillows and found them to be as good as most.

Pillows on bed of Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

The black leather headboard above the bed was pretty cool. We like the texture with thousands of tiny holes in the pattern, making it look like braille almost, giving it a cool effect.

Behind the headboard of bed

Here’s a shot of my suitcase on the bed to give you an idea of the dimensions.

Here’s a side shot of the details on the bed. Those panels are another added detail, though it would have been a lot cooler if the buttons were functional.

Bunk Beds (Berths)

Ok, every Disney World Resort has a regular bed, but how many of them have bunk beds?? I have to admit, when I first saw this, the little kid in me jumped for joy and I thought this was about the coolest idea. But are they practical?

Bunk Beds on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

There are two bunk beds, a top one and a lower one and they are built into the wall making good use of the small space in the room. They are brilliantly themed to the room, and kids are going to love how they look.

Lower Bunk Bed

To get up to the top bunk you need to use the metal ladder attached to the side.

Ladder to the bunk beds

The ladder is pretty sturdy and it held me easily even though I am well over 200 pounds. They might be tricky do get down from in the middle of the night though if you need to use the bathroom.

Ladder to the bunk beds

Inside each of the bunks is a vinyl-covered mattress which is thin and very firm. There are no sheets on the bed, but each one comes with a rolled-up blanket that is kind of like a sleeping bag.

Lower Bunk Bed with pillow

We absolutely loved the sleeping bag! It was very cozy and we wish they would start selling these in the gift shop, we’d buy one in a heartbeat.

Roll up sleeping bad on bunk bed

Here is what it looks like when it is all rolled out. Also, notice the small reading light on the wall. That is in both the upper and lower bunks.

Top Bunk Bed on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Here is a view of the room from the upper bunk.

View of the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room from top bunk bed

Even though the bunk beds give the room a really cool look, the beds themselves were not very comfortable, much less so than the queen bed.

The good news is that crew members told us they were replacing the mattresses immediately because other people have already complained about them. So by the time you read this, they are most likely better than the ones we tried.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room

The only other issue we had with the bunk beds is there is no power outlets or USB ports in them. That means you have to plug in your phone somewhere else to charge and can’t have it right next to you.

There is one USB port behind the nightstand on the side of the bed, but you will need a long USB cord if you want to plug in your phone from the bunk.

Can Adults Sleep in the Bunk Beds?

Inside Top Bunk Bed

Disney claims on their website that the bunk beds are big enough for a full-grown adult, so we couldn’t wait to get in one and see for ourselves!

The bunk beds look really small in photos, but they are actually pretty big and can sleep an adult over 6 feet tall pretty comfortably, even on the top bunk. I would say any person up to about 6 ft 3-4 inches shouldn’t have a problem with the length.

Let’s not forget one of the most important features of any hotel room, the bathroom, or “the refresher” in Star Wars-speak. You can close the sliding bathroom door from the hallway to have privacy.

door to the bathroom

The bathroom is a split design with a sink, vanity, and shower in the main part of the room, and a separate chamber for the toilet if you need some extra privacy.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Bathroom

We were expecting a much smaller bathroom to be honest, but it’s actually quite big and the same size, if not bigger than other bathrooms throughout the Disney World Resort Hotels.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Guest Cabin Bathroom

The vanity here is where you will find the sink and many of the other accessories you will need throughout your stay. There are soap dispensers on the wall, a towel rack on the front of the vanity, as well as a tissue dispenser. There are shelves underneath with extra towels and a hairdryer.

Sink area in the bathroom

The sink follows the rest of the room’s theming and is made of stainless steel.

Sink in the bathroom

There are some washcloths rolled up on the side of the sink.

rolled up towels

As you will see in the shower, the hand soap and body lotion are located in pump dispensers, so you can’t take them home with you.

hand soap and body lotion

There are, however, some free toiletries that you can take home with you located in the small metal box on the vanity. These include facecloths to remove makeup and a foaming bubble mask for your face, something like you would get at a spa. These are all on theme and look fancy.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser bathroom toiletries

If multiple people are in the room and need to get ready at the same time, the room with the toilet has a sliding door you can close for privacy.

bathroom with toilet

There isn’t much in here except for the toilet, a mirror, and some towels on the rack above you will need for the shower.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room Toilet

We did appreciate the small, themed details such as the Chandrila Star Line logo on the toilet paper roll and towels.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Guest Room towels

Next, let’s look at the walk-in shower. There is a frosted glass door on the outside you can close, again handy if you need privacy but others want to use the bathroom.

Inside the shower

The shower was surprisingly large, much larger than at my house, and really nice! There is a big waterfall-type showerhead on the ceiling and a hand-held showerhead if you need more mobility.

Shower Heads in Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room

The water pressure was excellent, something that is not always the case at Disney hotels. The water mixing controls were easy to use and we had no problem finding the right temperature.

Controls for the shower Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

Here is a look at the inside of the shower door and the sliding mechanism it uses. The door was heavy and slides nicely. We didn’t have any issues closing it completely and no water escaped making the floor wet (which is something we hate in hotel bathrooms).

Sliding shower door

A trend at Walt Disney World Resort hotels in recent years is to include pump dispensers in the shower for the shampoo, body wash, and conditioner, instead of individual small bottles.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Room Shampoo and soap in the shower

For people who liked to bring those home as souvenirs, that time has passed and the pump dispensers are here to stay.

One of our big complaints in Disney hotels is finding shampoo and body wash pumps that are not easy to pump or that even fall apart when you do because the person refilling them didn’t put them back together correctly.

That was not an issue here, and at least these ones are pretty sturdy and easy to pump.

Space Windows

What makes the guest cabins on the Galactic Starcruiser really stand out from any other hotel room in the world, are the windows into space. We have been waiting years for these, so let’s take a closer look.

Space Window in Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

You have probably seen the space windows in other parts of the ship, but they are also in each guest cabin and provide incredible views.

That’s right, there are no real windows in the guest rooms, so you can’t see the real world outside. You won’t have a view out into the parking lot or see any trees or gardens either. Instead, you are looking into space where you will see planets, spaceships, and droids moving by.

In fact, there is a whole world of activity happening right outside for you to enjoy.

Window into Space with droids passing in Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

After spending some time looking at them, we really thought they were cool, but they do have some design issues. When the lights are on in the rooms, they can be hard to see out of and give off a nasty glare, especially around the corners of the window. This greatly reduces the impact they were designed to make.

However, when you turn the lights off, the annoying reflections go away and it’s an entirely different effect. That is when they really shine and you get the incredible effect the Disney Imagineers were going for. They really do make you feel like you are floating through space.

Space Window in guest cabin Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

There are more details around the edges of each window including lights and ports.

Extra Details on side of window in Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

The buttons don’t do anything, but they are cool to look at.

Can You Turn Off the Space Windows?

Don’t worry, you don’t have to leave the space windows open all night as the light might prevent you from sleeping. If you want to close them, all you have to do is push a button below the window that brings down the blinds and blocks the view during sleeping hours, giving you total darkness.

Controls for Space Window

Though we realize most people will need total darkness, there was something special that happened when we turned off the room lights and left the window open for the night. It really gave the room a calm and peaceful feeling, and at that moment we were completely convinced we were on the Halcyon Starcruiser traveling through space.

We can imagine that is exactly what Disney Imagineers were going for and it was one of the coolest hotel experiences we’ve had in a while.

Can I Open the Windows?

No, you cannot open the space windows to see the outside world. The only way you can see outside is to leave the hotel. All areas inside the hotel block out the outside world.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Standard Guest Room

Even though you won’t be spending much time watching TV while on the Starcruiser, there is one on the wall opposite the bed.

TV in Guest Room Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

When you arrive you even see a personalized message on the TV from the Halcyon Starcruiser with your names on it.

TV in room with name of guests

What Can I Watch on TV?

The TV at the Star Wars Hotel has all the same channels you would find at any Disney World Resort hotel on earth. That way guests can feel comfortable and be able to watch all their regular programs.

It still is very puzzling why Dinsey doesn’t offer Disney+ in its hotel rooms though.

Honestly, though, we didn’t have any time to watch TV as we were exhausted from doing the missions all day long. We recommend staying up longer exploring the ship and taking advantage of everything to do and to watch TV when you go back home.

Droid Telephone System

A very underrated feature of the cabins was the telephone system. This is located on the wall right next to the TV.

Telephone intercom unit Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

It has a phone you can pick up in the center bottom of the unit and an intercom on the right side with a video screen. There are also temperature controls for the room in the top center.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Guest Room Telephone

The phone looks like a standard corded phone and you can use it to call the desk if you need anything, just like in a regular hotel.

Telephone intercom unit Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

There are some other neat details on the side.

Telephone intercom unit Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

What really makes this phone special though is the AI droid D3-09 who is the host of your voyage. Instead of just being a regular phone, you get messages from her relating to missions and the overall events happening on the starcruiser. She also surveys guests and assists them with questions, and helps explain the events in the story.

D3-O9 on Guest Room intercom Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Resort

Communicating with a droid was pretty smooth, and there is even a scary event that happens later on, so check your messages. She also will sing you a lullaby at night which was hilarious.

Other Features

We have already looked at the biggest features of the cabins, now let’s check out some of the smaller details.

Back in the hallway near the entrance, there are cabinets behind the doors in the wall with plenty of shelves for storing clothes or other items.

Inside the cabinet

If you have valuables you don’t want to leave out, the room has a safe you can store them in.

Guest room safe

At the bottom of the cabinet, you will find the Cooling Supply Unit. Yes, every guest cabin on the Galactic Starcruiser has a mini-fridge, but there isn’t really much to put in it. We didn’t use it at all.

Here is the inside of the min-fridge.

The other cabinet doors reveal a closet where you can hang your Star Wars costume or any other clothes you brought with you.

Two guest robes to wear in Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

There are also two Chandrila Star Line robes in the closet to wear when you go down to the spa. Ok, there is no spa at the Star Wars Hotel, but you can wear the robes at night when you are lounging out. They were very soft and silky to the touch.

At the top above the closet is an extra pillow which would be for the person sleeping on the pullout bed when available.

Extra pillows in the closet

Back in the bathroom under the vanity you will find the “Thermal Blower,” or hairdryer as it is known back on Terra.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Thermal Blower Hairdryer

It is a standard hairdryer, but it comes in a really cool case. We love that Disney went the extra step to call this a thermal blower!

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Thermal Blower Hairdryer

The room has pretty standard light panels for turning the lights on and off.

Main Light Switch in Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

Also right near the entrance to the cabin, you’ll see a touchscreen for housekeeping. Here you can turn on the “Do Not Disturb” light on the top, or touch the little cleaning droid for housekeeping. Again, we love the theming details!

With every stay on the Galactic Starcruiser, you get a small bag upon arrival.

Star Wars Datapad bag with instructions

In that bag are Star Wars Datapads for each guest and some charging cables.

The Star Wars Datapad is essentially an iPhone that has been wiped clean and only has the Play Disney Parks app on it. It also comes with a waiver stating that you are responsible for the phone if something should happen to it.

You also get Halcyon Starcruiser medallions to take home as souvenirs. Look at how beautiful this thing is!

On the last day of your stay you are given check-out instructions and suitcase tags. In the morning you can attach them to your luggage and leave them outside the room and a crew member will take them downstairs for you where they will be waiting outside when you leave.

The cabins have a waste disposal can that is divided into a trash bin and a recycling bin. Recycling is also important in space.

On either side of the queen bed there are small nightstands. Inside there are power outlets if you need to charge your electronic devices.

Nightstand and remote in Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Rooms

On one of the nightstands is the TV remote control which is wrapped in plastic to ensure sanitization. This has become standard practice in all Disney hotels.

Here is a closer look at the power outlet. There is also a button which controls the lights in the room.

The nightstand on the opposite side has a power outlet and also a USB port for directly charging your UBS devices.

Nightstand and power outlet

Honestly, I don’t know why there isn’t a USB adapter on each side. With all the recent resort hotel room remodels, Disney has been pretty good about adding an abundance of USB ports in each room considering how reliant guests are on them nowadays.

That’s why it’s puzzling to me to see that there are no USB ports in the bunk beds and only one near the nightstands. One USB port in the entire room…someone want to explain that one to me?

Nightstand and power outlet with USB

We needed to attach a 6ft USB cable just to charge our phone from the bunk bed.

There are other power outlets around the room, this one over by the mirror in the entryway. It looks a little worn to me even though this is the first-ever Galactic Starcruiser voyage…

Above the nightstands on each side, you will see a small flip-out light you can use for reading.

One subtle thing we liked were the wall panels. The walls weren’t your typical sheetrock and plastered walls but it was a heavy-duty plastic paneling that was textured.

It was definitely something you would think the walls would be made from on a starship.

What about if you need a place to work, use your laptop or eat? There is a built-in table in the wall with two small ottoman stools that pull out from underneath.

The table wasn’t very deep and we have it pulled out all the way in the photo below.

It was good enough to set my laptop on and that’s about it.

On the inside of the main door, you will find the evacuation route in case of an emergency. Hopefully, there are plenty of shuttles off the ship in that case, and not like the Titanic.

Even though we are in space, there also is an emergency door located on the side of the space window.

It’s a long narrow door built into the wall panels.

Guests can check in to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm on their arrival day. On the last morning for disembarkation, guests can check out anytime between 6:00 am and 9:45 am. We recommend, however, sticking around for breakfast as it’s quite good.

If you push the button to close the shades and turn off the space window, the room gets completely dark. There are no other lights in the room except for a few small buttons near the door.

The guest cabins at the Galactic Starcruiser are definitely the smallest guest rooms in any Walt Disney World Resort hotel and are similar in size to the cabins on the Disney Cruise Line.

No, probably not. Everyone, of course, is different but we didn’t feel claustrophobic at all while in the room and we don’t particularly like small spaces. It also depends on how many people you go with. If there are 4 or 5 adults in the room it will get cramped.

The rooms on the Starcruiser are similar in size to Disney Cruise Line rooms. Most Disney Crusie Line rooms run from 200-240 square feet, in comparison the Star Wars Hotel rooms are about 200 square feet. However, some of the inside rooms on the Disney Cruise Line ships can be as small as 169 square feet, so in comparison, the ones on the Starcruiser feel much bigger.

No there is no coffee pot in the room. You can get coffee at the Sublight Lounge on Deck 6 or in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room on Deck 4.

Yes, there is a mini-fridge in the room, though you probably won’t need it since you won’t be bringing leftovers back to your cabin.

Yes, housekeeping is available upon request. All you need to do is push the small droid button by the front door to get your cleaned, or you can also hit the do not disturb button if you want privacy.

Most of your tips are covered in the price of your hotel package and you don’t need to tip extra to the crew members in most situations. It’s not like a Disney Cruise in that regard. The only time you might want to tip is for valet parking and room attendants.

The air-conditioning system works great, just like all other Walt Disney World Resort hotel rooms. We found the rooms to be much colder than the general temperature throughout the hotel.

No, don’t worry about getting motion sickness. It’s not like a cruise where the ship moves or sways back and forth. There is absolutely no movement once you are on board. The only thing that moves is the space shuttle (an elevator) that simulates launching to space, but it’s very mild.

You can buy things like toothbrushes and other toiletries in the gift shop, but you will need to ask a crew member to see them as they are not visible in normal circumstances. We even needed something that was not available, and a crew member was kind enough to offer to go to a store all the way on Earth and get it for us.

ECVs and scooters cannot be stored in guest cabins or in the hallways.  There are designated parking locations on each deck of the starcruiser.

Having an internet connection is crucial to the whole Galactic Starcruiser experience, and we had no problems getting online during our stay. We had full bars on our cell phones and the on-site wi-fi worked in every room we went. I wish I could say the same thing for other Disney World Resorts.

Making Reservations

Now that you know about the cabins, you’re now going to have to actually book a reservation. We cover this info in our complete guide to booking the Star Wars hotel but we have some of the basics here below.

Reservations for the Galactic Starcruiser are available for booking right now and as of this writing, dates are available through the end of the year.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Resort Guest Rooms

Booking a room is easy. You can either make reservations directly with Disney or through an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner.

  • Authorized Disney Vacation Planner – This is the easiest way. Contact an authorized planner with your dates and guest info, and they will take care of all the arrangements for you.
  • Directly through Disney – To make your reservation, call (407) 939-1800 from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM Eastern Time. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call.

There are no online reservations for the Star Wars Hotel at this time.

We much prefer using an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner instead of getting on the phone and booking it ourselves because it’s way easier, and they are FREE to use.

Having someone on your side who knows what to expect will help make everything much easier. They can book your dining and whatever extra experiences you want to do. They even waited on the phone for me for 7 hours to book my room so I didn’t have to!

Since they are absolutely free to use, they will end up saving you a ton of money on your trip. We recommend René at  Show You the World Travel  for all your trip planning needs. We use them multiple times per year and they give you the best service and savings combination out there!

Ziggy Knows Disney close

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

Since the only time anything about mobility was mentioned it was ‘ecvs’ and scooters must be left down the corridor. And nothing is mentioned about even the minimum of a seat in the shower, the Star Wars Hotel is not ACA compliant. So my husband and I will not be dropping close to 10 grand there. When will people learn that the mobility impaired often live in their heads, will spend more to live out fantasies, and really ‘get into it’ more than many who just bring their kids & sit back to take pictures while complaining about price?

For the most part the cabins seemed well designed and thought out, except for the lack of USB power sockets and that should be an easy fix. Those dual electrical outlets are of a style I have never seen. But like it was said, the cabins are very much like early cruise ship cabins (my first was in 1967 on a Cunard ship). One thing the guests can be thankful for is that Disney used what sounds like good quality cotton sheets instead of the metallic material that was popular in the Star Trek quarters. Based on the info provided, it seems the least expensive way for individuals to experience the Starcruiser is to get a group of 8 friends together and book a Captain's Suite.

Room Tour: Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Cabin Photos & Video

star wars room tour

Walt Disney World’s new Star Wars “hotel” has two types of rooms: standard cabins and 1-bedroom suites. In this review of Galactic Starcruiser’s accommodations, we’ll share photos & video from inside a less expensive of the two, pros & cons, whether these can comfortably sleep 4-5 adults, and more.

Those are air quotes around Star Wars “hotel” because that’s something of a misnomer–even if it’s how the vast majority of potential customers will refer to it and assume that’s what it is prior to booking. (Which is precisely why Galactic Starcruiser has its own dedicated site and can only be booked over the phone.)

In reality, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is more like more like a cruise on land, with all-inclusive food & non-alcoholic drinks, similar staterooms, immersive entertainment, and live action role-playing. This is why our 4,000+ word, spoiler-free  Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Review  barely even touched on the rooms, whereas our normal Walt Disney World Hotel Reviews dedicate about half of their text to the topic.

Another way that Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser differs from normal Walt Disney World resort rooms is the cost. Don’t get us wrong–there is a  significant  premium for the Disney brand, theme, and on-site location. The Star Wars “hotel” would take that to the next level were if best viewed as a normal hotel, minus the air quotes.

The room you’ll see in this review & tour cost cost $6,634.32 for a party of 4. We shared the room with another couple, friends of ours with whom we regularly travel. Sarah and I paid a total of $3,317.16 for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser–or $1,658.58 per person. For more thoughts on this expensive pricing, see  Is Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Worth the High Cost?

For the exact same dates, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would have cost $1,470 total, or $735 per night. Of course, the critical distinction is that the Poly is very much a hotel, and while it offers daily entertainment and programming for guests, it’s not the same. Nevertheless, we’ll use other on-site Walt Disney World resorts throughout this post to provide an imperfect comparison. Just know that this is an apples to orangutans situation.

star wars room tour

Before we dig into the substance of the resort room review, here are some basics about guest cabins aboard the starship Halcyon. Per Walt Disney World, the starcruiser features 100 well-appointed cabins and suites, each one offering an atmosphere of elegance, style, comfort, and exclusivity.

Your Star Wars story continues even in your cabin or suite. There, you can relax in comfort and gaze out your window as ships, planets, stars, and other breathtaking galactic sights float past on the majestic canvas of the cosmos. (In case it’s not clear, those are very much Disney’s words and not mine.)

star wars room tour

Each Standard Cabin is fitted with furnishings and fixtures designed to ensure comfort while traveling throughout the galaxy—including a pullout table and a TV with entertainment from your home planet—and a window with a view out into space.

Specifications

  • Sleeps: 4 to 5 passengers
  • Room Configuration: queen bed, 2 berths (bunk beds) for one adult each and a wall pull-down bed for one adult (if sleeping 5)

Cabin Amenities

  • Mini refrigerator
  • In-cabin safe
  • Phone with voicemail messaging
  • Interactive TV
  • H2O Plus spa, bath and shower products

star wars room tour

One-bedroom Galaxy Class Suites feature a living space complete with an integrated seating area and have all the comforts of Standard Cabins plus a double vanity bathroom, bar area, 2 windows with views out into space and a few extra surprises.

  • Sleeps: 4 passengers
  • Room Configuration: queen bed and 2 wall pull-down beds for one adult each

Note that the high-roller suite only sleeps 4, whereas the standard cabin sleeps 5. This is actually not particularly uncommon with suites versus standard hotel rooms at Walt Disney World, but it’s still odd to me. You’d think more space would equal more guest capacity, but apparently not.

star wars room tour

Room size is one of the most common reader inquiries we’ve received, so let’s start with that.

Based upon our rudimentary measurements, there’s about 200 square feet of usable room space. For context, the Value Resorts at Walt Disney World are ~260 square feet. Rooms at the previously-discussed Polynesian Village Resort, among the largest at Walt Disney World, are ~450 square feet. (See Hotel Room Sizes at Walt Disney World   for a full rundown . )

star wars room tour

For such a relatively small room, the bathrooms are quite (arguably disproportionately) large.

This reminds me a bit of the Tower Studio at Disney’s Riviera Resort , which has an incredibly economical living area, but inexplicably large bathroom. (Those rooms are 255 square feet, so probably  slightly larger than this after the entire space is accounted for.)

star wars room tour

Speaking of inexplicably large, that describes the shower in the standard cabins at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

I didn’t do a good job of capturing it in the photo above, but it extends the full length of the vanity and toilet area. Perfect for bathing a Bantha, I suppose.

star wars room tour

The standard cabins definitely present smaller than they actually are due to the layout. Beyond the bathrooms, there’s the way that the bunk beds are recessed into the wall.

This makes the room more economical with its space, so to speak. Two of the beds aren’t included in our square footage number above because you can’t walk around them. If counted towards the total, the standard cabins in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser should be almost as large as a Value Resort room.

star wars room tour

Speaking of the bunk beds, they are deceptively large. Certainly more spacious and longer than we expected after seeing photos and concept art prior to the opening of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser’s opening.

In fairness, no one in our party was exactly “large.” The fact that 4 people, all of whom are under 6 feet tall and weigh less than 175 pounds each (guessing on that one, still haven’t found a polite way of asking our friends if I can weigh them) found the bunk beds comfortable and sufficiently sized may not be saying much.

star wars room tour

However, we’ve also heard from a number of others who are larger. The prevailing sentiment was similar–the bunkbeds are “surprisingly spacious.” One reader even said her 6’5″ spouse was able to sleep in the beds. That height is probably pushing it, but the point stands that humans of most heights will fit in the bunk beds just fine. (Families of Wookiees might want to seek alternative accommodations, or multiple rooms.)

Speaking of which, the bunk beds and pull-down bed (which is  much smaller and probably only suitable for someone well under 6′ tall) use funky sleeping bags instead of normal bedding. These are actually pretty cool, perfectly functional, and will be undoubtedly popular with kids–hopefully the gift shop starts selling them soon!

star wars room tour

In general, we have heard a lot of sentiment that the standard cabins in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser are “surprisingly spacious” from other guests.

No offense to those offering this feedback, but I’m going to discount it. In large part, this early assessment is coming from people who have followed this project closely, saw concept art, knew this was going to be like a cruise cabin, etc. As compared to photos, the Halcyon’s rooms do appear larger in real life. That’s subjective, but “feels true.”

star wars room tour

For newcomers to Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser who are first learning about it now, or otherwise will have expectations based on pricing or comparisons to other hotel rooms around Walt Disney World, these rooms will likely appear and feel smaller than expected.

Whether the room size is ~200 square feet or ~260 square feet, it’s small. It just is. No amount of space-saving innovations or trickery to maximize the usable area of the cabin materially changes the equation. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser’s standard cabins are small. (Never a good sign when the majority of my room photos are shot with a fisheye lens!)

star wars room tour

In fact, I’d argue that the standard rooms aboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser do a worse job of utilizing their footprint than do the redesigned rooms at the Value Resorts.

With those, one of the beds converts into a table when not in use, which is both functional and increases the open area of the room. The bathrooms also have better balance, and take up less of the square footage. In addition to that, there are a lot of little functional upgrades and little features. From my perspective as a hotel reviewer, all of this is quite noticeable–these things immediately stick out.

star wars room tour

However, there’s still the question of whether it’s all noticeable to an actual guest over the course of staying in the Halcyon and using the room during the 2-night immersive experience.

Largely, no. We spent barely any time in the cabin, which seems par for the course with Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. While the same could be said for a “commando tourists” staying at regular resorts, we often find ourselves in the room eating breakfast, taking a midday break, or even relaxing on our non-parks day.

star wars room tour

None of that exists with the Halcyon. Included breakfast is offered elsewhere and taking a midday break eats into story/adventure time. About the only things you’re doing here are sleeping and the ole SSS routine.

The only major exception I could see to this is with a group doing elaborate costuming and makeup, or multiple outfit changes per day. I’d probably advise against that in the first place as a time-waster for most, but it’s going to be integral to the experience for some. In that scenario…I’m not really sure. Breathing room and space for getting ready might become more of an issue.

star wars room tour

The more apt comparison is probably to Disney Cruise Line’s staterooms, many of which are under 200 square feet in size.

That’s not just similar from a size perspective, but also the experience being more analogous. Even then, we spend far more time in our stateroom aboard DCL, on average, than we did during our Galactic Starcruiser stay.

star wars room tour

For our party, the size of the standard cabin was no issue whatsoever. There was sufficient space for storing our luggage and navigating the room, especially given how infrequently everyone was in there simultaneously, outside of when we were asleep.

My main annoyances revolve around features. Unless hidden in a secret compartment of the ship, there was only 1 USB outlet in the entire room. This definitely caught us off guard given Disney’s recent push to add these to redesigned resort rooms. Also, while there was ample luggage storage space, the same cannot be said for the contents of said suitcases. Be prepared to live out of your bags for your time aboard the Halcyon.

If you want to better visualize the layout (or see details I forgot to photograph) of the standard cabin, here’s the room tour Sarah shot of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser:

Speaking of little annoyances, the toiletries are in wall-mounted pumps. This is done throughout Walt Disney World now, and was a move done under the guise of environmentality. We are mostly ambivalent to this, recognizing that in reality, Disney did this to cut costs–but the outcome of less waste still exists.

Many of you are,  ahem,  far more “passionate” about this subject than us. In addition to being upset about the loss of packaged toiletries, there are some concerns about tampering. Something tells me no one is dropping $5,000+ to play a practical joke involving shampoo, but perhaps I’m too trusting.

star wars room tour

Regardless, I can understand the frustrations on this front. It would be one thing if this wasn’t happening simultaneous with higher prices and other nickel & diming. (In defense of this practice at Galactic Starcruiser, there is a provided tin of face clothes and foaming bubble masks–for now–which is a nice touch.)

Although I forgot to get a photo of the panel, there are also buttons for ‘do not disturb’ and to request housekeeping. Unlike at other Walt Disney World hotels, that’s not an issue at Galactic Starcruiser. Presumably, since it’s a 2-night stay with security as you enter, there will not be daily room checks, either.

star wars room tour

Turning to some of the unique features of the Halcyon, each cabin has a pullout table and a TV with standard entertainment (didn’t get a chance to check out the Resort TV situation) and a “window” with a view out into space. The table, pictured above at the bottom of the frame, is largely useless. It feels like an afterthought, as do the footstole-style chairs.

In keeping with the overarching story, what’s visible out your “window” reflects that’s shown in other “windows” around the Halcyon and on the bridge. Meaning that if the ship jumps to hyperspace, you’ll see that in your portal, too.

star wars room tour

There’s also the D3-O9 Logistics Droid, which interacts with you via an panel on the wall. D3-O9 seems a bit like the coming “Hey, Alexa” service on steroids, with the ability to brief guests on mission elements, details, and more.

Built centuries ago by Chandrila Star Line’s founder, D3-O9 has a lot of knowledge and opinions. According to Walt Disney Imagineering, she’s advanced Artificial Intelligence and is the next frontier of storytelling. D3-O9 is currently being treated as a “limited playtest” and Walt Disney World has repeatedly emphasized that D3-O9 might not always be available.

star wars room tour

D3-O9 was a surprise hit with us. Not the interactions, those were clunky and felt fairly rudimentary rather than advanced. Perhaps if we used her more (I suspect a big role D3-O9 fills is involving guests in the story who spend more time in the cabin) it would’ve been more fluid.

Rather, D3-O9 was great for her dry humor and wit. The amusing “bedtime story” she told us at the end of a long day was perfect, and just another way Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser manages to thread the needle with levity.

star wars room tour

By contrast, we were really looking forward to the “window” offering views into space, and it was only okay. Not that I expect this to look real, but even suspension of disbelief is difficult. Most of the time, there are too many reflections, distortion, and odd ‘bleed’ from the way details are displayed.

With that said, I did go back to the room at one point to grab something, and was struck by how peacefulness of the portal, and the stars’ light illuminating the room. It was a serene moment, further underscoring just how  different these cabins are than all other rooms at Walt Disney World, both in practicality and purpose.

star wars room tour

Ultimately, that’s really what makes it so difficult to review the cabins at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. This isn’t a real resort, and the rooms are certainly not what a lot of people would expect at this price point. While the service and attention to detail are top-notch, this is most definitely not a luxury hotel in any traditional sense of the term.

Even with that and all of our other caveats out of the way, the rooms aboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser do not disappoint in any of the ways you might expect. Although small, the rooms are perfectly serviceable given the nature of the experience. The bunkbeds are sufficiently spacious for adults. The bedding is comfortable and high-quality, with quilted texture to the pillows and bedspread– plus a runner!

The rooms are not the least bit sterile or cold, instead having plenty of fun details and features–just not always the most functional ones. If anything, that’s the most surprising “miss” for us; even after redesigning so many rooms to address common guest complaints, Disney still made a few mistakes with features and layout.

Where can we book the rooms?

' src=

Did you feel claustrophobic or closed in without a traditional outdoor window? With space so tight, at least you have a window or Verandah (besides inside staterooms) on a cruise. I can’t do inside staterooms for that reason, but wasn’t sure if that was an issue here.

' src=

So about 2 hours after getting on board I was like “this feels weird not seeing outside.” (I’ve never been on a cruise so I had no comparison.) However, there is a “climate simulation room” that’s available for the duration of your trip. Being in the room wasn’t a problem for me at all after knowing there was easy access to the outdoors as needed. At that point it was just like we’d drawn the blinds for two nights; you’re barely in the room AT ALL.

' src=

I get the continued comparison to a “cruise ship on land” or in this case in space….but it seems like sizing the cabins the same as their sea-worthy brethren is a bit cheap.

Cabin density is imperative on a cruise ship. To pile in the people.

A 100 room boutique hotel should have larger rooms.

' src=

Tom: Thank you for your blog…it really is the best! My family just got back from our cruise on Saturday and I think your blog sums up the rooms very well. The experience is so creatively imagined we barely spent any time in our room, but the time we spent we really enjoyed. All of the bedding was comfortable, we loved the window, and D3 was really a great use of AI and we all loved interacting with her(we even wonder IF we ever went again would she remember us?!?!) What I think it boils down to for this and your other review is if you book this experience and look at each individual part of the ship, the room to a lesser degree the food and expect each individual thing to live up to the price…then you will be setting yourself up to be disappointed….This is an experience that the sum is MUCH, MUCH greater than the individual parts. Particularly for families of 8 to 14 year olds that are Star Wars fans!

' src=

We loved our Starcruiser adventure! Since there were only two of us, the room seemed plenty spacious. While we didn’t spend much time in our cabin, there were a couple of things I’d have changed about it: – when the closet doors are open, they block the small hallway. That made it difficult for both of us to get ready at the same time – the toilet tissue was awful! – I wish we could have turned off or dimmed the lights surrounding the window. It would have been great gaze at “space” while falling asleep.

' src=

Two questions. 1. On the bunk beds what are the odds the top piece ever gets cleaned by Mousekeeping? 2. If the bedspreads are a true sleeping bag style, how often are these going to be cleaned?

' src=

Hi Tom, Thanks for the info! Although I loved the blog, I’d like to know where Sarah got her outfit! Thanks! Jillr

' src=

This is it: https://amzn.to/3JxKuGh (Size XS)

Thanks Tom (and Sarah)! I’ll check it out. Jillr

' src=

It doesn’t seem to be that much more than a deluxe resort, considering the fun things you can do. Because I snore, and I mean I grind those planets you were flying about, it would be a travesty for any human being to have to share a room with me. So I could not do that hotel alone due to the cost. I can however, live it through your review and as a bonus save $6000. Thank you!

Wireless noise cancelling headphones are game changer when it comes to sharing a room with snorers! 😉

' src=

Can the room fit an ECV?

There are actually little ‘docking bays’ (not sure that was the exact name, but it’s something fun) in the hallways for ECVs!

' src=

Is it $6k for just two nights? Wasn’t clear how long u stayed there.

' src=

@Brooke Yes, that’s the cost of a two-night “cruise.”

' src=

Every stay is 2 nights. Your voyage “departs” on whatever day of the week you’ve booked, and “returns” 2 days later. No new people arrive or depart on the middle day.

' src=

Are snacks plentiful like on a cruise? Hoping I get a few Mickey Bars next month for my $6k. I’m also planning to sample each of the cocktails!

I wouldn’t say “plentiful” (not to the same degree as a cruise) but there’s always food available, whether it’s in the main dining room, from the lounge, or a little stand in the atrium.

' src=

As someone who did attend with a (relatively) elaborate costume, I can say that the bathroom space and the mirrors were absolutely stellar. Er, no pun intended. I believe that if you go into the experience expecting a small, cruise-ship like room…then you will be surprised by how spacious the room actually is. If you go in expecting it to be like other Disney Rooms, then you will be disappointed in how small it is. As my party used to travel several times a year for different conventions, we have become ‘masters’ at room reconfiguration–moving the setup of a hotel room around to better generate useful surfaces and extra space. For a costumer, there were a lot of good configurations in our standard suite. For instance, I removed both chairs from the wall and used them to store merchandise we had purchased, and then put suitcases up on top of them for ease of access. Then, the largest suitcase tucked nicely into the wall and under the table, which was just large enough to place out items needed for the next day. We also pulled down the 5th sleeper, and used it as a table to hold the rest of the suitcases and the ironing board we had requested. The room actually gives you a lot of closet space, but it’s almost unnecessary. Since the voyage is so short, you really do have to live out of your suitcase. There’s no point in taking any of your precious time to move clothes around, except to maybe hang a nice dinner dress or suit. Overall, I really liked the rooms more than I expected to, but was also disappointed in the view port. However, it’s also responsible for one of my best memories…falling asleep on the big bed, watching communication satellites drift by. When all the lights are off and all the ship is asleep, it’s almost magical…even if it never looks real.

Thanks for sharing your experience on sharing the room and getting ready as someone with more elaborate costumes. If anyone would know about that, it’s you!

Also, very jealous that you got to fall asleep with the portal open.

' src=

Ok – biggest question when doing your video of the room tour. Were’s Tom My guess is as Sarah was in the shower you snuck in the bathroom as she headed back out to show the pull down bed & table

' src=

Haha, Mike. That was my question too. I watched the video again and noticed he is behind her or to her left in the beginning of the video. You can see his reflection from 0:37 to 0:45. Then, I assume he squeezes into the corner when she turns (around 1:00). You see his reflection again at 1:28 as he exits. My first viewing I wondered who lowered the bed and pulled out the table and chairs. Nice video! Thanks!

I’m glad some of you not only appreciate our “seamless” transitions, but also replay the videos to figure out how we did it.

In this case…I do not remember. Josh’s detective work is better than my memory. All I can recall is that we had to do it twice, because I screwed up the first time.

' src=

Thanks Tom & Sarah for another great review! I keep meaning to ask… does Imagineering do anything to make it feel like the Starcruiser is in motion through space, whether by sound or vibration or otherwise? I would think that would be key for immersion / suspension of disbelief. At least in the halls and common areas. Probably a bad idea to do this in the rooms, especially during sleeping hours!

No, there’s no false sense of motion with the building itself. All of the screens do a surprisingly good job of simulating that, though.

' src=

We also enjoyed the bedtime story. The real hero is finally getting his due.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Room Tour

By:   Mary Alys Foutz , a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

Marvelous Mouse Travels recently returned from a 2-night galactic adventure aboard the Halcyon Starcruiser.  Take a look at our out of this world cabin!

Starcruiser Room

ROOM OVERVIEW

We stayed in a standard cabin.  Our sleeping arrangements included one queen bed, two twin-sized berths (bunk beds), and one twin-sized pull down bed.  Our cabin included a pullout table, two stools, a television, full size bathroom, and our own personal window out into the galaxy.

Starcruiser Bathroom

I was pleasantly surprised that there was so much “space” in space.  The Starcruiser room was much larger than I anticipated.  There was storage under the bed, in the stools for the retractable table, and two closets.  We had four adults staying in one room and never felt cramped.

Star Wars Bunk Bed

I know the bunk beds have gotten a lot of chatter about looking small.  They really aren’t!  If you’ve ever taken a Disney Cruise and used the berth there, this one was much larger.  Each bunk had a full size twin mattress and was almost like a little pod!  Plenty of room to stretch out and even stash some electronics or toys!

SPECIAL GALACTIC TOUCHES

Galactic Starcruiser Pillow

The entire experience on the Halcyon Starcruiser is completely immersive and your cabin is no different!  The Halcyon Starcruiser symbol was found in special places throughout our cabin, including embroidered on the towels and linens.

Star Wars Window Table

We had some really neat high-tech elements in our cabin as well!  This included our window that changed views as we continued our journey in space.  We could also raise and lower the screen on the window to adjust the room lighting.

Droid in Room

One of the neatest aspects of our cabin was our very own droid!  She came to life anytime we tapped our M Band (Magic Band) on the corresponding board.  Her interactions were great!  They included general information about the ship if needed, but also adventures.  Once she asked us to negotiate a bribery deal for the ship and another time she sang a space lullaby.  This was such a special touch in the room!

CABIN OPTIONS

Starcruiser Room

Cabin configurations vary.  Standard cabins sleep 4-5 guests (as pictured).   There are also one bedroom Galaxy Class Suites available (sleeps up to 4) as well as two bedroom Grand Captains Suites (sleeps up to 8).

Star Wars Control Panel

Amenities in Each Cabin Include:

  • Mini refrigerator
  • In-cabin safe
  • Phone with voicemail messaging
  • Interactive TV
  • H2O Plus® spa, bath and shower products

Creating the Ultimate Star Wars-Themed Man Cave: A Jedi’s Guide

Welcome to the definitive guide to building the greatest Star Wars-themed man cave, Star Wars fans and fans of interior design alike. No matter if you prefer the original trilogy, the prequels, or the most recent films, this blog will show you how to make your home into a setting that honours a galaxy far, far away. Take out your lightsaber, and let’s begin!

Star Wars Man Cave

Choosing the Ideal Space

Choosing the ideal location is the first step in designing your Star Wars-themed man cave, where are you going to put your galaxy far, far away? Take into account elements like space size, natural lighting, and the ambience you want to create. This may be accomplished in a basement or spare room, which offers a private and intimate setting or you could try some out door options but you might be limited to something like this cool death star fire pit.

Death Star Fire Pit

Theme Selection

Choose the particular Star Wars motif you wish to use in your man cave. It doesn’t matter if you choose the original trilogy, the Clone Wars, or even The Mandalorian; either way, it will have an impact on the entire style and décor of your room. We have been sent this amazing home theatre on Tik Tok that we featured from @Propsandvillainy77

Color Palette and Lighting

Setting the mood for your man cave requires choosing the proper colour scheme. Choose a combination of deep, cosmological colours like midnight blue, charcoal black, and icy silver. Utilise LED lighting that has the ability to change colours to provide an alien atmosphere evocative of the famous lightsabers .

Wall Art and Murals

Transform your walls into access points to a distant galaxy. Purchase premium Star Wars posters, framed artwork prints, or even custom murals that include your preferred actors, famous moments, or starships. You will certainly be transported into the Star Wars world by these visual components.Out favourite is this Darth Vader Star Wars Canvas Wall Art cavas that would go perfect in any home bar as it’s the most iconic character and it’s classic black.

Furniture and Seating

Choose comfortable and appropriately themed furniture that aligns with your chosen Star Wars era. From Darth Vader-inspired recliners to Millennium Falcon coffee tables, there is a wide range of options available to suit every taste and budget. Consider incorporating plush Star Wars-themed throw pillows and blankets for added comfort and style. One really cheap and effective addition would be this Official Star Wars Welcome To The Dark Side Door Mat so it would greet all of your guests to the dark side.

Official Star Wars Welcome To The Dark Side Door Mat

Home Theater System

Without a top-notch home theatre system, a man cave is lacking. For the complete Star Wars experience, set up a big-screen television or projector and surround sound system. Provide theater-style seats, popcorn machines, and throw rugs with Star Wars themes to enhance your authentic home cinema vibe.

Star Wars Home Theater

Collectibles and Memorabilia

Without an excellent collection of memorabilia, no Star Wars man cave is complete. On shelves or in glass cases, show off your favourite action figures, lightsabers, replica helmets, and spaceship models. Make a special spot to display your greatest things, and make them the focal point of the room.

Star Wars House Museum

Gaming Zone

Install the newest gaming consoles and Star Wars-themed video games in your man cave for the gamers. Create a relaxing gaming space that includes chairs, charging stations, and a console cover with Star Wars graphics. Invite your buddies to participate in epic lightsaber duels or virtual X-wing dogfights.

Themed Bar and Refreshment Area

Create a designated area for refreshments and entertainment by incorporating a Star Wars-themed bar. Install a mini-fridge to keep your drinks chilled, and stock it with Star Wars-themed glassware and coasters. Consider adding a lightsaber-style bottle opener and Star Wars-inspired cocktails for an extra touch of creativity. We found this great Emperors Cabinet to store drinks in which would be a great feature in a home bar of any size.

Finishing Touches and Details

To truly bring your Star Wars man cave to life, pay attention to the small details. Incorporate starry ceiling decals, starship models suspended from the ceiling, and a custom-made Star Wars welcome mat. Display quotes from the movies using wall decals or illuminated signs, and add a touch of the Force with scented candles inspired by iconic locations

What colours can you paint a Star Wars room?

When it comes to painting a Star Wars room, the possibilities are as vast as the stars themselves. To capture the essence of this epic saga, consider using colours like deep space black, iconic lightsaber blue, or the earthy tones of Tatooine’s desert. These colours will set the tone for a room that truly embodies the spirit of Star Wars.

What Colours are associated with Star Wars?

Speaking of colours, certain hues have become synonymous with Star Wars over the years. The iconic lightsabers wielded by the Jedi and Sith are often associated with vibrant blues and striking reds. Additionally, the classic armour of Stormtroopers in gleaming white and the sleek black attire of Darth Vader have become instantly recognizable symbols of the dark side. Incorporating these colours into your Star Wars-themed room will undoubtedly evoke a sense of adventure and nostalgia.

What decor is in a star wars themed room?

When it comes to decor, the Force is strong with a Star Wars-themed room. From life-sized replicas of droids like R2-D2 and BB-8 to wall decals featuring starships soaring through space, the possibilities are endless. Consider adding Star Wars-themed bedding, posters, action figures, and even a custom-made lightsaber display. Don’t forget to adorn the walls with framed artwork featuring iconic scenes from the movies, such as the Battle of Hoth or the climactic duel between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

What drinks can you serve in a star wars bar?

Now, let’s journey to a Star Wars bar and explore the tantalising drinks you can serve to patrons who seek refuge from the intergalactic battles. Quench their thirst with a galaxy-inspired menu that features drinks like the legendary Blue Milk, a creamy concoction that first appeared on Tatooine. For those seeking a darker experience, serve a Sith Sour, a tantalising mix of blackberry liqueur and blood orange juice, or a Jedi Mind Trick, a refreshing blend of vodka, melon liqueur, and pineapple juice. Don’t forget to add a dash of creativity by garnishing each drink with a lightsaber stirrer or a tiny Death Star ice cube.

Which characters should feature in a star wars themed room?

Now that your drinks are flowing and the atmosphere is set, it’s time to bring in the stars of the show—the characters. When designing a Star Wars-themed room, you can’t go wrong with featuring fan favourites such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, or Chewbacca. Showcase their iconic images through posters, life-size standees, or even life-sized replicas if you want to go all out. You can also add collectible action figures or create a display shelf dedicated to the vast array of characters that have graced the Star Wars universe.

@mancavegeek ♬ Star Wars, Episode IV “A New Hope”: Main Theme – John Williams

Which star wars movie would be the best to theme a room on?

Choosing which Star Wars movie to theme your room around is no easy feat, as each instalment holds a unique place in fans’ hearts. However, one movie stands out when it comes to creating a visually stunning and iconic room—Episode IV: A New Hope. This movie introduced us to the characters, planets, and themes that have become synonymous with Star Wars. Pay homage to the beginning of this epic saga by incorporating elements such as the Millennium Falcon, Tatooine’s desert landscapes, and the legendary Mos Eisley cantina.

What details from the The Mos Eisley cantina scene can you have in a bar?

Speaking of the Mos Eisley cantina, it’s time to delve into the details that can transform your home bar into a hub of intergalactic intrigue right out of the movies. Nestled within the seedy underbelly of Tatooine, this notorious watering hole proved to be a melting pot of galactic scum and villainy. It was in this very bar that the likes of Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Han Solo first encountered the enigmatic and wise-cracking smuggler, Han Solo, along with his loyal Wookiee companion, Chewbacca.

The Mos Eisley cantina exuded an otherworldly ambiance, a vibrant amalgamation of diverse species and peculiar characters. And what better way to emulate this captivating scene in a bar of your own than by incorporating some key details from that fateful encounter?

To begin, set the mood with dim lighting, casting a mysterious glow over the space. The bar itself should be a hub of activity, with an assortment of beings from various planets, each with their own tales to tell. Consider adorning the walls with eclectic art pieces that pay homage to the intergalactic adventures of Star Wars.

Star Wars Home bar

Now, let’s not forget the diverse cast of characters that frequented the cantina. Showcase the diversity of the Star Wars universe by incorporating alien species into your bar’s décor. From the snarling Trandoshans to the elegant Twi’leks, these unique and eye-catching species are sure to captivate your patrons’ imaginations.

And what would a Star Wars-inspired bar be without some delightful libations? Pay homage to the Mos Eisley cantina’s famed blue milk and exotic concoctions by serving up your own creative alien-themed drinks. Whether it’s a Hutt-tini or a Tatooine Sunrise, the possibilities are as endless as the stars themselves.

Lastly, to truly transport your patrons into the Star Wars universe, make sure to have a corner of your bar dedicated to lively cantina music. Let the catchy tunes and rhythmic beats transport them to a galaxy far, far away.

With these elements, you can create a truly immersive experience reminiscent of the Mos Eisley cantina scene. So, step into the world of Star Wars and let your imagination soar as you bring this legendary setting to life. May the Force be with you on this daring venture!

45 Best Star Wars Room Ideas for 2024

Image

Star Wars has been a classic for decades, and with the release of new movies, a whole new generation is falling in love with the genre. As a result, plenty of children are asking for Star Wars themes in their rooms and plenty of adults want their very own Star Wars game room or Star Wars throne room for that matter. Here, you will find 45 unique ideas to incorporate the Star Wars theme in almost any room of the house. They can provide starting points and you could personalize them for your own space too.

Check Out 45 Ways of Bringing Star Wars to Your Room!

1. death star living room.

Do you wonder what it would be like to walk the halls of the death star? (Before Luke destroyed it of course) This living room idea uses various shades of gray and silver layered throughout the space to give it the feel of the ultimate weapon of the dark side. Embossed vinyl on the walls and even ceiling creates a sleek, mechanical look. Minimal Star Wars room decor keeps with the theme without going overboard. Ultra modern furniture completes the look for a sleek, and slightly dark, style to the room. And, a death star pendant light brings the whole room together.

2. Minimalist Star Wars Room Design

Minimalist Star Wars Room Design

This room doesn’t go overboard with the Star Wars decor, but it still brings the force to a living room. The vinyl Star Wars room decals depict an epic space battle scene complete with x-wing fighters, tie fighters, the Millennium Falcon, and the death star. The use of a stark black and white color palette ensures the theme itself remains the focal point of the space. Modern and minimalist furniture serves its purpose while keeping a futuristic feel too. This room proves a Star Wars theme can be attractive without saturating the whole space with images and decor reminiscent of the movie.

3. The Star Wars Artist Loft

The Star Wars Artist Loft

Tasteful home decor and the Star Wars them come together in this design for a unique, artistic feel. The walls have an industrial stone look, offering the perfect palette for the Star Wars room design. A steel gray shag rug adds just enough warmth to the room to keep it from being too stark. The mix of browns, tans, and grays in the furniture are reminiscent of the Mos Eisley Cantina, where we all know Han shot first. A selection of unique Star Wars artwork and a storm trooper helmet bring the science fiction theme to life throughout the room.

4. Enchanted Star Wars Kids Room

Enchanted Star Wars Kids Room

The use of Star Wars theme wallpaper will saturate a child’s room in the epic story. Kids will love feeling like they really are in space with every surface but the floor featuring stars, tie fighters, and alien planets. A fun and ever so slightly industrial style child’s bed with Star Wars bedding and complementary bedroom furniture will help a kid feel like they really are a space ship. The pops of red found in a soft throw rug and desk chair break up the space just enough to keep it from becoming monochromatic. Finishing with a hardwood floor keeps the space grounded without going overboard in the theme.

5. A Bedroom on Another Planet

A Bedroom on Another Planet

Step into The Empire Strikes Back with these Star Wars room decorations designed to saturate the room in the movie. The whole theme of this room makes one feel that they are on the planet Hoth, where an epic battle took place. The bed is designed as a T-47 airspeeder, and it even includes a trundle underneath for extra sleeping space. Textured walls, sky blue paint, and fluffy bedding create the feel of snow throughout the room. The rest of the furniture is non-descript so that it doesn’t take attention away from the thematic bed. Finally, individual Star Wars specific elements personalize the room perfectly.

6. Bright and Colorful Star Wars Theme

Bright and Colorful Star Wars Theme

Colorful blue paint sets the stage for this Star Wars kids room. Wall decals depict important characters, like Yoda and Darth Maul for the perfect dash of excitement to the space. Bedding depicts various ships from the movies, including a tie and x-wing fighter. The furniture in this room is a bit more grown-up, making it the ideal transitional space for older children and pre-teens who may want something more mature. Floating shelves offer the perfect space for various Star Wars memorabilia too. Neutral window coverings and lighting ensures the space isn’t completely saturated with color and Star Wars details.

7. The Geeky Parents Nursery

The Geeky Parents Nursery

What Star Wars baby room would be complete without a stuffed tauntaun rug on the floor? This nursery space is the right combination of Star Wars as well as soft colors and textures to make it perfect for a little one. Quotes from the movies appear as vinyl wall decals and as a fun throw pillow on a corner chair. A toy Star Wars lightsaber is just enough decor in this soft room. Dark wood furnishings provide a nice contrast to bright white and blue walls. Soft, sheer curtains allow just enough light in for an airy, baby soft space.

8. The Boy’s Room Star Wars Dream

The Boy's Room Star Wars Dream

This intricately designed Star Wars bedroom has a more mature look and feel to it while remaining the ideal space for children. The top of the walls is painted with a deep, dark blue and enhanced with star and spaceship decals. The lower part of the walls features a soft blue-gray color reminiscent of mechanical spaceship parts. The two shades are set apart by bright white molding. Pops of red add depth to the design through framed artwork on the walls. A model Millennium Falcon hangs from the ceiling as if it is flying through space. A dark wood bunk bed keeps the room fun while offering contrast to the colors as well.

9. Lego Star Wars Room Decor

Lego Star Wars Room Decor

This is a fun take on the Star Wars theme thanks to the Lego details reminiscent of the cute video game. Wall art from the Lego video games becomes the focal point of the room, set off by soft blue-gray walls. A Lego At-AT Walker takes up one corner and other small Star Wars decor completes a fun look for any boy’s room. Bedding from Attack of the Clones keeps the cute, childlike style without getting too serious. And, minimalist furniture doesn’t detract from all of the cute Star Wars details. Lighting is contributed to with LED light bars hidden behind the Star Wars wall mural.

10. Bright in Blue Star Wars Kids Room

Bright in Blue Star Wars Kids Room

The color blue just seems to reflect Star Wars in every way, and this room definitely plays on that idea. Various shades of blue are used throughout this Star Wars kids room including paint on the walls, a soft rug, bedding, and lampshades. The movie itself shows through in wall art and Star Wars specific bedding. Natural wood in the furniture and exposed beams on the wall and ceiling provide just enough color contrast to keep the room from being too monochromatic. Finally, a toy lightsaber serves as extra wall decor to complete the theme without being too cutesy.

11. Saturated in Star Wars

Saturated in Star Wars

When it comes to Star Wars room ideas, you could choose subtle or bold and bright. This room is the latter of these two options. Thanks to bright blue wall paint and matching bedding, this is definitely a bold room. The bedding itself is in keeping with the Star Wars theme, and a brightly colored mural takes up one wall, adding layers to the shades of blue. Contrasting dark wood furniture adds depth to the space. A Star Wars helmet just adds a fun element to the decor in the space, which is otherwise sparsely decorated. This is the ideal room for multiple children, twins or even triplets.

12. The Epic Battle Living Room

The Epic Battle Living Room

Who says Star Wars themes have to be kept only to bedrooms? This Star Wars room design shows that even the living room can be fun, exciting, and somewhat geeky. Color is the main element of this theme with bright yellow vinyl wall decals depicting an epic battle with Tie fighters, X-wing fighters and the death star being rebuilt. The colorful theme continues with bright green, yellow, blue, red and purple pillows tossed on the couch. Even stark tree branches get a colorful treatment. The rest of the room remains a neutral pale gray to ensure specific elements get all the attention.

13. The Dark Side Star Wars Room Decor

The Dark Side Star Wars Room Decor

Many Star Wars room decorations focus on Luke Skywalker, Yoda and all the heroes. This room, though, takes a walk on the dark side. Starting with a deep blue accent wall, the Star Wars spirit begins through a life sized Darth Vader wall decal and the classic wording from the beginning of the movies in vinyl too. The brighter blue bedding features images of Darth Vader and his storm troopers too. Aside from the Chewbacca artwork, the rest of the room remains free of Star Wars elements so that the main ones get all the attention. Natural wood furnishings and dark carpet add depth to the space too.

14. A Deep Sea of Star Wars

A Deep Sea of Star Wars

Not every Star Wars room decoration has to be bright and airy, especially if the space is for the true fan. This is certainly the room for the ultimate Star Wars fan. The ceiling includes a dark blue sky with stars showing through as well as blue sun flairs around the edges, fading into the lighter blue walls. Gray flooring provides contrast for the room. All of the bedding is in keeping with the Star Wars theme and numerous posters and art pieces adorn the walls. Two book shelves provide plenty of space for Star Wars memorabilia and toys too.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

Tour the rooms onboard the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser . We got a full days preview of Disney’s newest resort or cruise, or starcruiser (whichever way you want to think about it) onboard the Halcyon Galactic Starcruiser . We did not get a chance to stay overnight but did get a preview and tour of the rooms.

The room we toured was a standard room, which you can read the specifications below. All the Disney accommodations and luxury are here, including a new logistic Droid named D3-09 which will interact with you and lead you on your journey. Without spending the night, we can’t tell you how comfortable the bed stays after sleeping on it, but the time we spent on the bed felt great and comfortable.

The bathrooms are also comfortable and have sliding doors for privacy. FYI, all doors on the Galactic Starcruiser slide left and right, none open in or out. Water pressure was decent, and the shower will be very comfortable and can be used by those who may be larger sized. Lots of space.

There is a plethora of space to spread out, and closet space for storage. Tables can be pulled out for whatever your needs are, along with bins that can be used as seats or storage.

The big deal is the interactive TVs and more importantly, the window that shows you space!

When entering the gate we were politely reminded that no photographs could be taken. At the time of our visit in 1986, no members of the press had been admitted. Our tour guide for the drive related that Ronald Reagan, then President of the United States requested a tour of Skywalker Ranch but was denied. Lucasfilm lost a court battle to have the U.S. government refrain from calling the Strategic Defense Initiative, "Star Wars." I suspect this ruling didn't help President Reagan's chances for a visit...

Framed by a lake and two lush green hills, the ranch house is a strikingly beautiful building of Victorian design. It has a gray roof interrupted periodically by chimneys and the peaks of dormers surrounding windows on the third floor. As you approach the house, ribbons of color burst from the etched glass windows which dance like a dozen prisms in sunlight. The entrance hall features a grand staircase on the right which gracefully curves left as it rises to the second floor, and Mr. Lucas' private office. A staff member confided that George had the hand assembled redwood staircase re-done three times before he was satisfied. Much like the storyboards back at ILM preceded films, George felt that the ranch he was constructing should have good story. He decided that the estate would have started as a monastery, but was later converted into a mansion and vineyard for wine-making. As the vineyard's family grew, new homes and cottages were built. Last, as the story goes, Lucas purchased the estate and adapted it to become his creative headquarters for artists and technicians alike.

In reality, George had a wood shop and a glass shop set up on site during the construction of the ranch house. He salvaged a large amount of sizable and rare redwood supports from trestles and bridges that were being modernized in the western United States. These shops produced the beautiful redwood lumber and etched glass used in much of the construction of the main ranch house.

The breakfast room, located to the left of the entrance hall was our first stop. Decorated in Colonial Williamsburg style (hey I know this when I see it, Williamsburg is a 30 minute drive from my home), the room was tastefully furnished with antiques and featured a very large table in the center. Our guide informed us to expect many different themes throughout our tour.

We again passed through the entrance hall and entered a large and lofty reception room. This room was approximately 30' wide by 60' long. It was furnished with ample furniture for sitting and lounging and a large fireplace. The room was paneled in rich redwood, and numerous windows prevented the room from seeming too dark. Tall, open cathedral ceilings were framed with beams milled on the ranch. Several minutes later we were joined by several of the LucasArts computer specialists we met earlier at the apartment-like complex.

We exited the reception room through a doorway at the opposite end of the room and passed into a very long hallway that wouldn't be out of place in a old Victorian mansion. The hallway must have spanned much of the center length of the ranch house and provided access to numerous rooms and more stairs to the upper floors.

Next stop: the Skywalker Ranch library, a breathtaking stop on the tour. The room features isles of bookcases, thousands of books, and tables and chairs to make research sessions more comfortable for the library's patrons. One notices a different quality to the light in this room and a glance skyward explains the reason. A forty foot stained glass dome is set in the ceiling casting down its component colors of gold, red, and orange. A second level accessible via a spiral staircase is home to more books and original paintings. At the base of the staircase, I asked a LucasArts designer a question on my mind. In the mid 80s word was circulating that George Lucas, frustrated by the decade the Star Wars New Hope trilogy took to produce, canceled any plans for future episodes. "Will there be more Star Wars films?" I asked. While the Prequels are common knowledge today and you can even glimpse behind the scenes at www.starwars.com , www.starwarz.com , and www.theforce.net , there was no hint that they would be produced in the popular press of 1986. Therefore, it was very exciting when the staff member asked me to reflect on the new technologies I had viewed earlier in the day. He indicated that everything George Lucas was doing was to make films faster and easier to make using digital sound, video, and editing. "There will be more [Star Wars] films," he confided.

A little past noon, our group was led to the rear of the ranch house and into a Victorian style solarium. The three exposed walls and ceiling provided a view of part of the Ranch including the two large green hills that frame the ranch house. The view isn't cluttered by parked cars, since parking garages are located below ground. Thirty foot trees rise from a lower level and pass through the center of the solarium and nearly to the glass ceiling. I was told that vaults for Lucasfilm treasures including film and props are housed below around the base of the trees. However, without the climbing ability of a Wookie you wouldn't gain access to the vaults from this room! Today a large building housing the Lucasfilm archives has been constructed on Skywalker Ranch, so the basement vaults may no longer exist. The solarium was filled with iron patio-style tables and chairs. Here we dined with Skywalker Ranch staff on traditional California cuisine prepared and served by George Lucas' chef. Staff at the table next to me were discussing work on a scene for Howard the Duck. They were planning a strategy for deploying hundreds of duck decoys during a scene in the film. As lunch was completed, we were told of an observatory George had constructed on the Ranch to house a large telescope given to him by an ardent Star Wars fan. Sadly, rain showers prevented us from taking the short hike to the observatory for a visit.

Rather, we headed below ground to a basement level of the Ranch. There we entered George Lucas' private theater. The room, approximately 25' wide by 50' long was filled with about 15 comfy recliners. Each chair was accompanied by a marble end table with a touch-sensitive bankers lamp. Theater style, three walls were draped with rich, burgundy fabric and all of the chairs faced a large screen on the remaining wall. We were informed that the theater housed a new technology offering superior sound and named, THX. I also learned the room sits on a special foundation that apparently offers the unexpected benefit of shielding occupants from earth tremors. Guests have left the theater surprised to learn that tremors were experienced elsewhere on the property. Moments later the room dimmed and we were treated to film footage not available outside of Skywalker Ranch with outtakes from Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Here, thanks to the magic of audio dubbing (and creative Lucasfilm techs) we find Indiana Jones not in search of the Ark of the Covenant or lost Shankara stones, but seeking to find the best pot in the world! In another scene we see Harrison Ford knock on a door, that is answered by Stephen Spielberg. Surprised, Spielberg reacts and catches Ford as he leaps into his arms and swoons, "Honey, I'm home!"

Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser Rooms: Guide to Star Wars Hotel

Star Wars Hotel Rooms

Wondering what it’s like to stay in one of the new Star Wars hotel rooms ? Read on to learn about each room type on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Image of Star Wars Land at Disney World

We waited ages for it, and the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser finally arrived in March 2022.

A two-night all-inclusive adventure, staying at Disney’s Star Wars hotel is more than what we expected. It almost makes it worth the sticker shock when you see the starting prices.

Star Wars Hotel Rooms

There are 100 guest rooms on the “ship”…which type is right for your family?

Let’s describe each type of room.

Before we get into the rooms on the Galactic Starcruiser, here’s some starting info:

Think about a Galactic Starcruiser vacation package like a two-night cruise, including a park day excursion.

That’s essentially what you’re paying for here – much more than just booking Star Wars themed hotel rooms, although we won’t pretend that the prices aren’t still steep for two days.

  • Two nights stay in a cabin or suite
  • Ongoing, immersive, and interactive entertainment, where YOUR choices determine your experience
  • Food and beverages on the starcruiser (excluding alcoholic and specialty beverages) and a quick-service meal at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo or other select locations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for your planetary excursion to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
  • Valet parking
  • Exclusive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser MagicBand

With that taken care of, let us embark on our journey through the rooms on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser!

Table of Contents – Rooms Aboard the Galactic Starcruiser

  • Standard Cabin
  • Galaxy Class Suite
  • Grand Captain Suite

Galactic Starcruiser Basic Rooms: Standard Cabin

When you first walk into your cabin, you’ll feel the Star Wars hotel vibes right away.

These cabins are reminiscent of cabins on Disney Cruise Line ships , with a distinctive Galactic Starcruiser look for the rooms.

A combination of gray, silver, and white have that clean space style, with pops of orange for color. Copper elements also serve as an accent tone to set off the orange.

Cabin Entrance

To one side is a small closet and long lighted mirror, and on the other side a pocket door encloses the bathroom space.

In the bathroom, you have the sink and shower in one area and the toilet in another, again separated by a pocket door.

The mirror above the sink is lighted, with hand soap and lotion mounted on the wall and storage under the sink.

If you’re someone who needs a hair dryer, the thermal dryer is in a box under the sink.

The shower is long and narrow and is only a stand-up (no tub combo). There’s a fabulous rain showerhead, and a thin shower wand if you like to have an additional spray.

The frosted glass door of the shower slides shut which mimics the style of the pocket doors. A long mirror in the same space as the toilet completes the bathroom area.

Inner Space

Moving into the living and sleeping spaces, you have a closet with shelves and hanging areas, as well as your small safe.

On the bottom shelf is the Cooling Supply Unit (mini-fridge) which is great for bringing your own snacks or small cold items.

When you’re landing in Galaxy’s Edge , it’s always a good idea to bring cold water or other snacks from your Galactic Starcruiser rooms in case it’s a hot day in Batuu.

In the hanging part of the closet there are two Chandrilan Star Line robes for use during your stay in the Galactic Starcruiser rooms – just remember if you try to stow them away, you’ll be charged the galactic credits.

On the one wall is the phone and D3-09 , your on-board droid companion, as well as the inset TV.

On the opposite side from the TV is the queen-sized bed with cool built-in nightstands and lights that come out from the wall. Unlike some of the newer Disney resorts , these beds don’t have storage underneath, but there’s plenty of room in the corner to stack suitcases.

To the one side of the beds are the built-in bunks, which can fit an adult. However, we know it is more likely you’ll be using these for the kids.

The bunks also have pull-out lights from the wall, which is nice for your little readers.

On the opposite wall are small rollout storage cubbies as well as your view of space out your window.

Each of the Galactic Starcruiser rooms has an everchanging panorama of what is happening in the galaxy, as well as a first look at the planet Batuu as you land at Black Spire Outpost.

Watch this short video tour of the Standard Cabin here:

Galactic Starcruiser Medium Rooms: Galaxy Class Suite

When you first enter the Galaxy Class Suite , you’ll immediately be blown away by all the extra space. The word suite is not used lightly here!

Disney definitely continues to bring the quality in the larger rooms of their Star Wars hotel.

We splurged for the Galaxy Class starsh… ah, suite. Fun welcoming gifts. #GalacticStarcruiser #Halcyon pic.twitter.com/0siA20qzjK — Drew’s Geekery (@drewgrgich) April 6, 2022

Entry & Living Room

Galaxy Class Suites open into a wet bar and seating space, complete with a sink and mini-fridge.

You also have more storage in this space, ideal for keeping your own dry snacks and cold items.

You won’t be able to heat up anything, as there isn’t a microwave, so just plan to bring packaged snacks rather than frozen meals. However, this space is nice for feeding your family in the morning with the bar stools and table.

In this entry space you also have a vanity with stool and lighted mirror, as well as the same closet space seen in the smaller Galactic Starcruiser rooms.

The closet has an extra set of bedding and a pillow, which you can use for the pull-down bed located in the living room.

As you move into the living room, there’s a large couch that can certainly seat everyone in your party.

An inset TV rests in the wall, which defaults to your journey through your Star Wars hotel itinerary. Again, this will feel common to Disney Cruise guests, as the TVs on the ship do the same. Even in your Galactic Starcruiser rooms, you have a bit of Earthly familiarity.

The living room also is the location of one of the pull-down beds.

Much like we’ve seen at the newer DVC resorts such as Riviera Resort, the pull-down bed rests under the TV and is like a little nook in the wall. During the day, the bed folds up, making more room for everyone. There’s space within the end tables of the couch as well as the closet for the belongings of the person sleeping in the living room.

Completing the living room is a window looking out into the galaxy, your perfect view throughout your voyage.

Bedroom & Bathroom

One of the best parts of these Galactic Starcruiser rooms is the separate bedroom.

This bedroom is much like the sleeping space in the Standard Cabin, with a queen-sized bed as the focal point.

The main difference is that instead of bunks, there’s another pull-down bed under the inset TV. Another cool feature is a hidden tunnel that connects the bedroom to the living room via a small sliding door – you’ll really feel like you’re in the Resistance !

The bedroom also has its own closet space and D3-09 panel , which means you don’t have to leave your room to access the phone or your itinerary information.

A pocket door separates the bedroom from a small hallway which runs through the suite, and the bathroom is right across the hall.

The bathroom has much the same setup as in the Standard Cabin, except there is a double sink rather than a single. We really like this feature, as it allows multiple people to get ready at the same time.

Again, there is only a shower, so if you’re traveling with younger kids you may want to make use of the wand to help them rinse.

Check out a brief video tour of the Galaxy Suite here:

Galactic Starcruiser Premium Rooms: Grand Captain Suite

This is the largest of the Galactic Starcruiser rooms, and ideal if you’re travelling with a large party.

In many instances with Disney, it’s more cost effective to reserve multiple rooms rather than booking one of the larger suites.

However, in this case, it might prove less expensive if you’re filling the room.

That means putting eight people all in the suite – four in one bedroom, three in the second, and one person in the living room. It might seem like a tight squeeze, but it is just for two nights.

The Grand Captain Suite appears as if you took the other two Galactic Starcruiser rooms and merged them into one.

The entrance and living room are the same as the Galaxy Class, including the closet and sink spaces. Oh, and don’t forget the secret tunnel from the living room to the first bedroom!

In the first bedroom, you have a queen bed and a pulldown bed under the TV, much like in the Galaxy Class.

Across the hallway is the first of the two bathrooms, again exactly like the Galaxy Class. This is one of the aspects that preserves the Galactic Starcruiser vibes of these Star Wars hotel rooms – they are consistent. Much like fictional space cruisers, the compartments mimic one another.

Moving into the second bedroom, this one is like the Standard Cabin, with the queen bed in the center and the bunk beds inset into the walls.

The second bathroom connects to this bedroom, with the smaller setup of the Standard Cabin bathroom. When you’ve got eight people all in one cabin, you’ll be glad for this second bathroom!

Watch this video tour of the Grand Captain Suite: (Note: get a view of an ADA compliant bathroom with this walkthrough)

This Star Wars Hotel rooms guide walks you through each class of cabin aboard the Galactic Starcruiser:

  • There are three type of cabins, varying in price and number of guests
  • Do the math; it might make sense financially to reserve multiple smaller cabins than larger suites
  • Cabins are similar size to a Disney Cruise cabin and have full Star Wars theming

Get ready to take off on the adventure of a lifetime in your Galactic Starcruiser room.

Which cabin seems right for your family? Let us know in the comments.

FULL TOUR of a Star Wars Hotel Room in Disney World

By Robin Burks 1 Comment

We’ve already established that a stay at Disney World’s Star Wars hotel, the Galactic Starcruiser , is certainly NOT cheap , although discounts are now being offered to select visitors .

star wars room tour

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

We’ve also stressed that this is so much more than JUST a themed hotel stay , with an experience that basically has you roleplaying your own character in an adventure that takes place in a galaxy far, far away. However, you’ll still need to sleep at some point, so you might be curious as to what the rooms are like on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser . So we’re going to tell you all about it!

So first, let’s talk a little more about the Galactic Starcruiser concept. This is Disney storytelling at its finest, and part of that experience is in your cabin, which includes a view of the stars flying by during your voyage . It’s a two-day cruise in space that includes an interactive adventure , themed food , and unique entertainment.

star wars room tour

Rey on the Galactic Starcruiser

There are three types of cabins you can book for this adventure: the Standard Cabin, the Galaxy Class Suite, and the Grand Captain Suite.

Standard Cabin

We’re going to give you an inside look at a standard cabin. So here’s a full tour of the room.

star wars room tour

Starcruiser Cabin

Before you enter your room, you’ll need a databand (aka a MagicBand ) to open the door to your cabin.

star wars room tour

But these doors are not made like regular hotel room doors. Instead, once unlocked, you’ll slide the door open to go inside. Very space-like.

star wars room tour

Hallway to Passenger Cabins

Once you enter the room, you might be a little shocked at just how small they are — in fact, they’re smaller than real cruise cabins. When we stayed, we had three adults in the room, and it felt a little crowded at times. Upon entering, there’s a small hallway with a door to the bathroom on one side and a door to the closet on the other.

star wars room tour

Little hallway

We’ll start our tour in the bathroom. It’s a split design with the sink and shower in one room and a smaller room with a door for the toilet.

star wars room tour

Standard Cabin Split Bathroom

You will find some amenities on the sink, including packets of make-up remover wipes and foam bubbling face masks — yep, spa day in space, right? There are also dispensers with lotion and hand soap.

star wars room tour

Look at these fun little packets!

You’ll find towels hanging up in the bathroom, but if you need more, there are shelves under the sink that have extra towels. You’ll also find a hairdryer under the sink in its own box.

star wars room tour

Storage underneath the sink area.

The sink area is separated from the toilet room by a sliding door, which comes in handy if you have multiple people using the bathroom at any given time. Inside the toilet room, you’ll just find the toilet, a toilet paper holder, special Chandrila Star Line toilet paper, and more bath towels. There’s also a full-length mirror on the wall here.

star wars room tour

The toilet room is pretty simple.

The shower is really nice, though! The main showerhead is a waterfall one (oh, yeah!) that’s attached to the ceiling, but you also get a detachable handheld shower if you need that, too. The shower is separated from the rest of the room by a sliding frosted glass door.

star wars room tour

A glimpse into the shower.

Just like any other Disney hotel, your shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are in special dispensers on the wall. Also, like at other Disney hotels, these are all H20 products.

star wars room tour

Toiletries available in the shower

Okay, let’s back out of the bathroom and go back to that little hallway at the room’s entrance. Opposite the bathroom, you’ll find a light-up mirror, as well as another shelf with storage underneath. There’s an outlet here, too, so you can plug in the hair dryer or any electronics you might have.

star wars room tour

There’s ANOTHER mirror!

There’s a complimentary bottle of water on the counter with two spacey tumblers. You can refill this bottle as much as you’d like in the atrium.

star wars room tour

Space water!

Next to the alcove with this mirror is the closet area, which is the main storage area for the room. In the first cabinet, there are three shelves that can be used for storing your stuff.

star wars room tour

Shelf storage in the first cabinet.

You’ll find two more shelves below that. One holds the room safe…

star wars room tour

Each room comes with a safe.

…and the other holds the “Cooling Supply Unit.” Yep, that’s the mini fridge — by mini, we mean MINI. Like super tiny.

star wars room tour

Cooling supply unit

The cabinet next to all that is where you can hang your clothes. You’ll also find hangers, two Chandrila Star Line robes here, as well as an extra blanket and pillow.

star wars room tour

A glimpse into the second closet.

Let’s walk into the main part of the room. You’ll find a control panel on the wall next to the wardrobe. That’s where you’ll find your telephone, thermostat, and your own personal droid (remember, you’re on a luxury Starcruiser!).

star wars room tour

The control panel has a bunch of helpful features.

Your new droid friend is D3-09. You can speak to her through the screen on the wall — she’ll keep you updated on things going on around the ship, as well as any events that have happened in the story. This is NOT a personal assistant, so he’s only available at certain times, but she will sing you to sleep if you ask nicely.

star wars room tour

Greetings from D3-O9

You’ll find the TV on the same wall that is EXACTLY the same as the TVs in other Disney hotels. Yep, it’s all the same channels and things you’d find if you were staying at Disney’s All-Stars Resorts. The pull-down bed is also on this wall.

star wars room tour

Cabin aboard the Starcruiser

The pull-down bed is large enough to fit most adults, although if you are taller than 5’8,” it might not be super comfortable for you. It folds back into the wall when not in use.

star wars room tour

Pull-down Bed

You’ll also find bunk beds in the cabin, but don’t worry, they will fit full-grown adults. BUT we have to admit we didn’t find them that comfy. Each of these beds has a mattress covered in vinyl that pretty much feels like sleeping on a firm futon. You won’t get any sheets on these beds either — just a bright orange blanket. The ladder is attached to the foot of the bed and the top bunk has a small barrier.

star wars room tour

These beds also have ZERO outlets or USB ports, which feels like a huge oversight.

star wars room tour

A look inside the bunks

There’s also a queen-sized bed in the middle of the cabin (and we guess adults will be fighting over who gets to sleep in it). This one is dressed up with actual sheets and a blanket, plus a runner down the middle with the Chandrila Star Line logo.

star wars room tour

No need to sleep in the bunks if you don’t want to.

There’s a nightstand on each side of the bed with outlets and individual lights.

star wars room tour

It’s not huge — just enough storage for a few small items.

If you happen to need more storage, you’ll find a luggage compartment underneath the queen bed — there’s enough space to fit in several suitcases at once.

star wars room tour

The storage area underneath the queen bed.

There is a table with chairs in the room, but it’s set up that the table pulls out from the wall, with two orange stools underneath it. It’s not made for lounging for hours, but you can enjoy a quick snack here.

star wars room tour

The table and chairs tuck away into the wall.

Okay, remember those views of space we mentioned earlier? Well, above that small table is the window that looks out on space. If the whole space view gets to be a bit much, though, there’s a button you can press that closes it. You’ll even see those stars whiz by when the ship jumps into Hyperspace.

star wars room tour

The view is really great when the room is dark.

You’ll also find a small trash can and recycling bin in each room.

star wars room tour

Trash and recycling

You’ll also find an emergency exit hatch next to the space window that will let you get out of your room if the electronic door cannot be opened.

star wars room tour

The exit hatch, in case you need it.

To sum up, the room is small, but at least there’s plenty of storage. You also do get that feeling that you’re on a spaceship cruising through space.

Galaxy Class Suite

We also got to take a look at the Galaxy Class Suite, which is a one-bedroom suite with a separate bedroom and seating area, plus a bathroom and kitchenette. Fancy!

star wars room tour

Galaxy Class Suite Living Area

These suites can sleep up to four adults and include a queen bed and two pull-down bunks (one in the bedroom and one in the seating area). There are also space windows in BOTH rooms. As you can see, these rooms are bigger, too.

star wars room tour

There’s a queen bed in the bedroom, along with a pull-down bunk.

The bathroom in the suite is also larger than the bathroom in the standard cabin. The suite has two sinks, so more people can get ready in the bathroom.

star wars room tour

You’ve got a bigger bathroom.

The shower is HUGE and has shower heads on BOTH sides. You’ll also find those H20 bath products in here.

star wars room tour

The shower is HUGE.

The suites also have their own kitchenette that includes a bar area with stools and a counter. Behind the counter is a sink, you’ll find a storage area with dishes, and a larger mini-fridge.

star wars room tour

This mini-fridge has more space!

There’s also a crawl space between the two rooms: just slide open the doors next to the pull-down beds to crawl between the seating area and the bedroom. Kids will LOVE that. But who doesn’t want to crawl around on a spaceship?

star wars room tour

There’s a tiny crawl door!

There’s a control panel in these rooms, too, with the phone, thermostat, and personal droid.

star wars room tour

These rooms also have the control panel.

You’ll also find many of the same amenities in the suite, including a hair dryer, safe, and TV.

Grand Captain Suite

Of course, if you want to live it up on the Halcyon, you can stay in a Grand Captain Suite, which is good for up to eight people. This room has two bedrooms and a living area that includes two queen beds, two bunk beds, and two pull-down beds. There are also two bathrooms, a bar area, three windows with space views, plus all the regular amenities.

star wars room tour

So that’s what it’s like taking a cruise on the Galactic Starcruiser. If you’re looking to board a two-day adventure, be sure to check out the eligible dates for cruises on the Galactic Starcruiser website.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Last updated: May 30, 2023

The Galactic Starcruiser is a live-action role-playing game that just happens to come with a hotel room. Think of it as a cruise ship that doesn't float, and lives in the Star Wars universe.

The absolute best themed entertainment and story-telling available anywhere

Good food on board

No time for relaxation

Standard cabin mattresses are too firm for some guests

Including the walls, storage, bath, and everything else, we think that rectangle is just under 250 square feet in size. Excluding space for walls and unwalkable space for those closets, the sink, and the like, we think these rooms measure around 180 square feet-by a wide margin the smallest rooms in Walt Disney World.

  • Room with Queen Bed(s) and en-suite bathroom
  • Pull-down twin bed for children
  • Dresser with drawers
  • Full-length mirror
  • Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi)
  • Flat-panel TV
  • Ironing board and iron
  • Digital thermostat
  • In-room safe
  • Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and bar soap

Despite its size and lack of windows, the room didn't feel small for two adults. We spoke, however, with groups of four adults who all said that two days was the upper limit on how long four people could get along in these small surroundings.

The one dining location, Crown of Corelia, serves cafeteria-style breakfast and lunch, and sit-down dinners. The food is better than we expected, some of it in unusual shapes and colors.

Practical Matters

Check-in is 1:00pm Check-out is 11:00am

All Disney resorts participate in Disney’s Online Check-In program. If you’ve checked-in online and provided a mobile phone number or email address, you will receive your room number electronically. Then you can go straight to the room and use your smart phone or MagicBand to open the door, skipping the lobby altogether.

These rubber and plastic wrist bands can function as your room key, park admission, charge card, and more! MagicBands cost money, but if you'd like a free option you can use the official Disney World app on your phone or request an RFID-embedded card at the front desk.

Park tickets are best purchased online in advance either directly through Disney or via our Least Expensive Ticket Calculator . However, if you arrive without park tickets, head to the concierge desk in the hotel lobby.

Dining reservation are best made online in advance or on your phone or tablet during your visit. You can also use our Disney World Reservation Finder .

Washers and dryers are availabile in laundry facilities at each Disney World hotel. Cost is $3 per wash, and another $3 per dry cycle. A small selection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for around $1 each. Only credit/debit cards can be used for payment. For more information, see our Disney World Laundry Facilities page.

If you lose something in a theme park or during your stay at a Disney-operated hotel, visit Disney's Lost and Found website or call (407) 824-4245.

Disney hotels have gifts shops near their lobbies with a decent collection of Disney-branded souvenirs. You will also find basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, allergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. Resort hotels with Deluxe Villa rooms offer an assortment of groceries, as well.

Disney recommends a third party company, Kid's Nite Out , to provide babysitting services at the resort hotels. See our Disney World Child Care page for more information.

The Galactic Starcruiser is in the Hollywood Studios Resort Area. All modern GPS apps, and Google Maps, will have clear driving directions to it. As a backup, look for Disney road signs directing you toward the Studios once you're on property, and then look for signs for the Starcruiser. The Starcruiser is adjacent to the Studios, so it's very close.

The Starcruiser provides shuttle service to Hollywood Studios. There is no service of any kind to other destinations, so Uber, Lyft, or taxis are your best bet.

The easiest way to get to any Disney World destination is by car.

There's no bus service at the Starcruiser. To get to another resort, use Uber, Lyft, or taxi service.

if you have a car, the easiest way to get to Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and other tourist destinations is to drive. Alternatively, Mears Transportation operates shuttle services between the Disney hotels and other theme parks.
