The Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) is a distinctive method of measuring the direct economic contributions of tourism demand to a national economy. Its unique approach derives from employing the principles and structure of the internationally recognized System of National Accounts (SNA) to measuring the direct economic impact of tourism. The SNA is the standard set of recommendations on how to compile measures of economic activity, such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in accordance with strict accounting conventions based on economic principles (SNA 2008 : 1).
The TSA comprises a set of interrelated tables that show the size and distribution of the different forms of tourism expenditure and its augmented cousin Tourism Consumption, in a country, and the direct contributions to GDP, employment , and other macroeconomic measures of a national economy that result (TSA:RMF 2008 : 13). Tourism satellite accounts in europe – 2023 edition.
Tourism plays an important role in many countries’ economies and labour markets. Tourism Satellite Accounts (TSA) is a framework developed to quantify the importance of tourism. This publication disseminates national results for a set of key TSA indicators for EU and EFTA countries, submitted on a voluntary basis to Eurostat, and is a follow-up of the publication Tourism Satellite Accounts in Europe of 2019. The publication focuses on data for the reference year 2019, but also includes an ad-hoc chapter using partial data for 2020 and giving preliminary insights on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the European tourism sector.

In recent period, Indonesia has also released other consistent satellite accounts, such as Tourism Satellite Accounts, Input Output Table on Creative Economy 2014, and Maritime GDP 2010-2016. In the near future, Indonesia will also release Social Accounting Matrix 2010 and develop Environmental Accounts.
