Trivium have unveiled their upcoming Goblins And Wizards tour – which they promise to be the “best metal show to hit your town this summer”.

Trivium announce 13-date intimate UK tour

It’s shaping up to be a ridiculously busy year for Trivium ! Fresh from their incredible UK headline tour last month, not to mention recently announcing a massive co-headline run with Beartooth in the U.S. , the band have just confirmed even more shows coming up.

The metal heroes will be crossing the pond once again for what they’re calling the Goblins And Wizards Tour: 13 intimate UK shows at some lesser-visited spots, with Bleed From Within and Orbit Culture as support.

“Since the first UK headline tour in 2005 we’d made it a point to do our best to get out of the big cities and play other ones that might get overlooked or skipped,” says bassist Paolo Gregoletto. “We looked at old Maiden and Motörhead posters and let that inspire the way we routed this one.

“Bleed From Within and Orbit Culture are two of our favourite new bands and we are honoured to have them join us. This is going to be the biggest and best metal show to hit your town this summer guaranteed!”

We don’t doubt it. Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, February 15, at 10am.

The Goblins And Wizards tour dates look like this:

23 Cambridge Corn Exchange 24 Norwich UEA 25 Nottingham Rock City 26 Oxford O2 Academy 28 Stoke Victoria Hall 29 Liverpool O2 Academy 30 Sheffield O2 Academy 31 Newcastle NX

On release in October 2021, TRIVIUM’s tenth album, In The Court Of The Dragon crashed in at #1 in the UK’s Official Rock & Metal Albums chart (#20 in the UK Top 100 Albums chart). A vinyl edition followed in January 2022. The record was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur and recorded at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.

Press hailed In The Court Of The Dragon yet another colossal triumph for the band, with Upset awarding it a full 5* rating, declaring “This is Trivium at the very top of their game. Pure unadulterated metal, this is gargantuan music for the biggest of all stages.” Powerplay (9/10) called it, “A truly fearless album…. stylish, inventive, and brutal as hell.” Metal Hammer (9/10) stated, “It’s hard to see who can compete with Trivium right now. In terms of a band playing contemporary, modern heavy metal, Trivium have been the best for some time. They still are, and In The Court Of The Dragon is a f*cking awesome heavy metal album.” “One of 2021’s most compelling pure metal releases,” raved Kerrang! concluding, “These are songs that are built to be played from the largest stages, and deserve to be.”

"This is going to be the metal tour of 2025." Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine announce co-headlining UK tour, playing classic albums Ascendancy and The Poison in full

Two of the biggest metal bands of the modern era will play their two most celebrated albums in full!

Matt Heafy and Matt Tuck on stage

Modern metal heavyweights Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine have announced a blockbuster, co-headline UK tour, where both bands will be performing their beloved breakthrough albums in full. Both Trivum's Ascendancy and Bullet For My Valentine's The Poison turn 20 next year, and to celebrate the occasion, the two bands will join forces by playing those records in their entirety.

The tour was announced at a special press conference (see video below) held at the Sanctum Hotel in Soho, London this evening, Thursday, February 22), following days of speculation after both Trivium and Bullet began teasing activity around those two classic albums on social media.

“Bullet For My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy are two records whose influence can be heard to this day - in the DNA of modern metal,” says Trivium frontman Matt Heafy. “It’s incredible to think of the impact the albums had when they came out in 2005.  They were both like bolts of lightning. Both bands grew up independently of each other in different countries and separately from any movement or scene but both shared a common love of melodic heavy metal at the core; and both had similar meteoric rises right out of the gate.

"Trivium and BFMV were in such whirlwinds when our respective albums came out that we each never truly got to play together or sit back and celebrate during the maelstrom of constant touring, recording and globetrotting," he continues. “But that’s what this anniversary tour is. It’s a celebration by the bands to the fans of an important era, and most importantly it’s an invitation to fans come and have an epic night with us and sing and rage and celebrate the awesome power of the music.”

“I honestly can’t believe it's been 20 years since the release of The Poison and what an incredible 20 years it’s been," comments Bullet frontman Matt Tuck. “I feel so proud of what we've achieved as a band in the last 2 decades and it all started with that debut album. The Poison is such an important part of our lives musically and personally and we know the massive impact it had on the metal world on a global level. This tour will be made even more special as our brothers in Trivium are also joining us on the road to celebrate and play in its entirety their stunning album Ascendancy .

“This is going to be the metal tour of 2025," he concludes. “Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium, The Poisoned Ascendancy World Tour 2025. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of both albums and playing them in their entirety. Get excited people, it's going to be special and we can't wait to celebrate with you all."

The tour will mark the first time the two bands have toured together. See the full list of tour dates below. Tickets go on sale next Friday, March 1 at 10am GMT from this location .

Released on March 15 2005, Ascendancy was Trivium's first album for the prestigious Roadrunner Records , and it saw their popularity skyrocket to place them as one of the most talked about metal bands of their generation. Released seven months later, The Poison , Bullet For My Valentine's debut album, confirmed their status as British metal's great new hopes, landing at an impressive number 21 on the UK album charts.

Late last year, Matt Heafy joined Bullet on stage at a show in Heafy's hometown of Orlando, Florida, to offer guest vocals on smash hit The Poison anthem, Tears Don't Fall .

Recent tour reviews

We saw Trivium in Berlin, in Kesselhaus in der Kulturbrauerei. Show was amazing. Sound was not great, but it was passable. Venue was terrible. The atmosphere in the place, we got in about half an hour before the show started and it was already unbearably hot. When the actual show started, things got shameful, there was no air conditioning or ventilation whatsoever, it was hot to the point that we were actually surprised nobody passed out.

It was the second time we watched a show in Kesselhaus, and sadly it once again proved to be a very bad choice of a venue. Shame.

These guys just know what they are doing, you can hear that clearly and loudly. The crowd always goes wild because this band shows exactly what the power and love of music really is. I think these guys found the perfect balance between "heavy" and "melodic" songs and that is the reason why I also think their music is very unique. And I have to talk about Matt Heafy. This guy is probably the most down-to-earth vocalist I have ever seen, he is very respectful with everyone, and also very thankful for having a career like that, you can definitely see that he actually means it. So in conclusion, I am very happy that I discovered this band and I am a huge fanboy.

The show was fantastic! Really know how to get the crowd along. I didn't like the tuning of the instruments though. The drums were way off compared to other instruments and completely overshadowed them. It ruined the high guitar notes and even vocals. It was clear the people of Tivoli were struggling during per-tuning, but they should have accepted the fact that the tuning required some more attention instead of continuing due to time pressure.

Hope someone will pick this up!

As the title hints at, the tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of BFMV’s debut album ‘The Poison’ and the two-decade landmark of Trivium’s ‘Ascendancy.’

Both bands will be performing the respective records in full for the first and last time.

The sleeve to the international version of AC/DC's 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' was created by fabled English design group Hipgnosis. The building in the background was a motel on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

The motel on AC/DC's 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' cover is now called Hotel H-Wood.

Thunder - 'All The Right Noises' (2021)

Thunder's 13th studio album 'All The Right Noises' from March 2021 features a visually striking outdoor sculpture called the Singing Ringing Tree set against a dramatic skyline.

Located on the Pennine hill range overlooking Burnley in Lancashire, the Singing Ringing Tree is a wind powered sound sculpture that stands 3 metres tall. Designed by architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu of Tonkin Liu, the unique sculpture features pipes of galvanised steel that create sounds when the wind hits them. Luke Morley stumbled upon the sculpture when Googling "bizarre musical instruments."

Black Sabbath – ‘Black Sabbath’ (1970)

The seminal and highly eerie cover for Black Sabbath's eponymous debut album 'Black Sabbath' in 1970 was shot at the 15th Century Mapledurham Watermill, located on the banks of the River Thames in Oxfordshire.

Six years after the release of 'Black Sabbath', Mapledurham Watermill featured prominently in the 1976 World War II movie 'The Eagle Has Landed'. Here's actress Jenny Agutter during location filming on 14th June 1976.

The grade II listed building of Mapledurham Watermill has become a mecca for Black Sabbath aficionados around the globe – including children's TV presenter Mr Tumble, aka Justin Fletcher.

Pink Floyd – 'The Division Bell' (1991)

Pink Floyd's longtime album artwork collaborator, the late-great Storm Thorgerson, had two gargantuan metal heads the size of double decker buses made for 'The Division Bell' sleeve and he positioned them in a field near the cathedral city of Ely in Cambridgeshire, which you can see in the background. In 2017, the two heads appeared at the magnificent Pink Floyd exhibition Their Mortal Remains at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

After extensively searching through fields, Bob Egan of the website Pop Spots discovered the exact location of Pink Floyd's 'The Division Bell' sleeve.

U2 - ‘The Unforgettable Fire’ (1984)

U2 recorded their fourth studio album 'The Unforgettable Fire' at Slane Castle in County Meath, Ireland, however they opted for a different castle to adorn the sleeve – Moydrum Castle, east of Athlone in Ireland. Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry liked the mysticism of the ivy-engulfed ruined castle and thought it suited the music perfectly. The photo was a copy of a picture on the cover of a 1980 book In Ruins: The Once Great Houses of Ireland by Simon Marsden and the band's representatives had to pay an undisclosed fee for the copyright infringement.

After the legendary Roger Dean designed the band's previous four album sleeves from 1971's 'Fragile' to 1974's 'Relayer', Yes enlisted Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis fame for 'Going For The One'. The sleeve retained Dean's Yes logo, and featured a naked man looking towards the Century Plaza Towers in Century City, California against a blue sky.

Designed by Minoru Yamasaki (who also designed the original World Trade Center) and completed in 1975, the visually striking and geometric Century Plaza Towers are 174 metres high and the tallest buildings in California outside of Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Neil Young – ‘After The Gold Rush’ (1970)

Neil Young's third studio album from over half a century ago features a photograph of the musician walking through Greenwich Village in New York. The photographer Joel Bernstein was just 18 years old when he took the photo, and he was said to be "shocked" that Neil Young picked it.

A composite of the 'After The Gold Rush' album cover against the railings. They're located on the northwest corner of Sullivan Street and West 3rd Street, Greenwich Village, New York.

Led Zeppelin – ‘Physical Graffiti’ (1975)

The cover to Led Zeppelin's sixth studio album 'Physical Grafitti' features two side-by-side tenement buildings located at 96 and 98 St. Mark's Place in New York's East Village.

As you can see from this Google street view image, artist Peter Corriston and designer Mike Doud were forced to crop out the top floor of the five-storey buildings so they would fit onto the square sleeve better.

The Rolling Stones' video for their 1981 single 'Waiting on a Friend' was filmed on the front steps of #96 St. Mark's Place in an apparent nod to Led Zeppelin. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards meet on the steps of #96 before walking to the corner of 1st Avenue to the meet with the rest of the band.

Rush – ‘Moving Pictures’ (1981)

Created by long-time Rush collaborator Hugh Syme, the artwork to Rush's 1981 magnum opus 'Moving Pictures' is a very literal translation of the album title. A triple entendre, it features workers moving pictures, then the paintings themselves depict emotional – or moving – scenes, and finally the back sleeve has a film crew making a motion picture of proceedings. The sleeve was photographed outside the Ontario Legislative Building at Queen's Park, Toronto.

Defined by its characteristic pink-hue sandstone – giving it the nickname The Pink Palace - the Ontario Legislative Building in Rush's native Canada was completed in 1893. It houses the viceregal suite of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, and offices for members of the provincial parliament.

The Who – ‘The Kids Are Alright’ (1979)

The Who's 1979 soundtrack album to the film of the same name features a photograph of Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon draped in a huge Union Jack flag outside a section of the Carl Schurz Monument at 116th Street and Morningside Drive in New York.

Bob Egan of the website Pop Spots has brilliantly superimposed the artwork onto the monument.

David Bowie - ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’ (1973)

The artwork to David Bowie's seminal masterpiece 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' depicts of Bowie as Ziggy at 23 Heddon Street in London, outside the home of furriers "K. West". The photograph was taken by Brian Ward in monochrome and recoloured by Terry Pastor.

Here is a 1980s photograph of Heddon Street with the Ziggy Stardust album artwork superimposed on top.

On the 40th anniversary of 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' in 2013 a plaque was unveiled at 23 Heddon Street. Pictured are Spiders from Mars band members Woody Woodmansey and the late Trevor Bolder at the plaque's unveiling.

Led Zeppelin – ‘Houses of the Holy’ (1973)

The otherworldly cover image that adorns Led Zeppelin's fifth studio album 'Houses of the Holy' is a collage of several photographs of two alien-like children (siblings Stefan and Samantha Gates) taken at the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland by Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis fame.

The 40,000 interlocking and mostly hexagonal basalt columns that make up Giant's Causeway are the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption some 50 to 60 million years ago.

The image on the inner gatefold sleeve of Led Zeppelin's 'Houses of the Holy' was captured at the medieval Dunluce Castle near the Giant's Causeway and depicts a silver man holding up the young girl.

The now ruined Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland, which was built over half a millennium ago in the Late Middle Ages. It's located on the edge of a basalt outcropping in County Antrim.

KISS - ‘Dressed to Kill’ (1975)

The artwork to KISS's third album depicts Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley wearing dodgy suits and standing on the southwest corner of 23rd Street and 8th Avenue looking north in New York City. The photo was taken by esteemed photographer Bob Gruen.

Another Pop Spots image with the KISS 'Dressed to Kill' album cover superimposed over 23rd Street and 8th Avenue.

Pink Floyd - Animals (1977)

Pink Floyd's tenth studio album depicts a floating pig above the imposing Art Deco megastructure of Battersea Power Station in London. Storm Thorgerson designed the sleeve but the idea was the brainchild of Roger Waters who regularly passed the station on journeys into central London from his home.

Located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Nine Elms, Battersea, work on Battersea Power Station was completed in 1955 before it was decommissioned in 1983. The building was converted into flats in 2021 and 2022, and it's currently owned by a consortium of Malaysian investors.

The Clash – ‘The Clash’ (1977)

The Clash's eponymous debut album features artwork designed by Polish artist Rosław Szaybo and a cover photo shot by Kate Simon in an alleyway opposite Camden Market, London.

'The Clash' album cover superimposed on the real alleyway in Camden Town.

Eagles – ‘Hotel California’ (1976)

One of the best-selling records of all time, the Eagles' ubiquitous 1976 album 'Hotel California' is adorned with a photograph of The Beverley Hills Hotel in California. The timeless image was captured by photographer David Alexander while standing 60 feet above Sunset Boulevard on top of a cherry picker.

An aerial photograph of The Beverley Hills Hotel featuring the distinctive turrets and palm trees that appear on the 'Hotel California' cover. Work on the hotel was completed in 1912 and from the 30s to the 70s, the world-famous hotel became synonymous with Hollywood glamour.

Ramones – ‘Rocket To Russia’ (1977)

The photograph hat adorns the Ramones' third studio album was taken by the band's manager Danny Fields at 315 Bowery behind the legendary New York club CBGB.

In image of the exterior of CBGB prior to its closure in 2006 with 'Rocket To Russia' superimposed over it.

Pink Floyd - ‘Wish You Were Here’ (1975)

The photograph of the stuntmen Ronnie Rondell and Danny Rogers for Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' was taken by Aubrey "Po" Powell of Hipgnosis at The Burbank Studios (now the Warner Bros Studios) in California. Decades before the advent of CGI, one of the stuntmen had to be set on fire wearing a flame-retardant suit and Rondell drew the proverbial short straw.

Steely Dan – ‘Pretzel Logic’ (1974)

Walter Becker and Donald Fagen's third album features a photograph of a pretzel seller taken by the late Raeanne Rubenstein. The pretzel seller was standing on the west side of Fifth Avenue and 79th Street in New York near the Miners' Gate entrance of Central Park.

A composite picture of the album cover on the real 'Pretzel Logic' location in New York.

Deep Purple – ‘Deep Purple in Rock’ (1970)

The 'Deep Purple in Rock' album cover was the brainchild of the band's manager Tony Edwards, who suggested placing the US Presidents' heads on Mount Rushmore with the heads of the Mark II line-up; Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial in the Black Hills in Keystone, South Dakota. Created by Gutzon Borglum, the sculpture features the 60-foot (18 m) heads of Presidents George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865).

Queen – ‘Made In Heaven’ (1995)

Queen's last studio album, released four years after Freddie Mercury's death, features a photograph at dusk of Irena Sedlecká's Mercury sculpture located at Lake Geneva in Montreux, Switzerland.

The iconic Freddie Mercury statue overlooking Lake Geneva in Montreux. Standing three metres high, the sculpture was unveiled several years after Freddie's death by Montserrat Caballé and Freddie's mother Jer.

Black Sabbath – ‘The Best of Black Sabbath’ (2000)

Black Sabbath's 2000 compilation album 'The Best of Black Sabbath' features a black-and-white photograph of four water-filled stone graves on the cover.

The stone graves date back to around the 11th Century and they're located at the ruined St Patrick's Chapel in Heysham, Lancashire overlooking Morecambe Bay. Photography by Twitter user @gdpreston __ .

Led Zeppelin – ‘Led Zeppelin IV’ (1971)

The block of flats that can been seen on the back sleeve of the gatefold to 'Led Zeppelin IV' is Salisbury Tower, a 20-storey tower block on Middleway View in the Ladywood district of Birmingham. Completed in 1968, the tower is 57 metres tall and contains 116 flats.

Unstoppable metal powerhouses  TRIVIUM  – Matthew K. Heafy (vocals/guitars), Corey Beaulieu (guitars), Paolo Gregoletto (bass), and drummer Alex Bent – are thrilled to announce their return to the UK this summer, for the  Goblins and Wizards Tour  – a baker’s dozen of intimate shows including venues the band haven’t played in over 15 years!

Fresh from their colossal sold out UK run this January, expect these tickets to go like proverbial hot cakes! Special guests will be none other than widely-tipped metal squad  BLEED FROM WITHIN , with  ORBIT CULTURE  firing everyone up first for the summer’s hottest metal extravaganza.

Paolo Gregoletto  declares,  “ Since the first UK headline tour in 2005 we’d made it a point to do our best to get out of the big cities and play other ones that might get overlooked or skipped. We looked at old Maiden and Motörhead posters and let that inspire the way we routed this one.

Bleed From Within and Orbit Culture are two of our favourite new bands and we are honoured to have them join us. This is going to be the biggest and best metal show to hit your town this summer guaranteed!”

On release in October 2021,  TRIVIUM ‘s tenth album,  In The Court Of The Dragon  crashed in at #1 in the UK’s Official Rock & Metal Albums chart (#20 in the UK Top 100 Albums chart).

Trivium postpone UK and European tour dates to 2023

The band said they can't proceed with the tour in November due to "uncertainty of cross-border travel and restrictions"

Matthew Heafy and Paolo Gregoletto of Trivium

Trivium have rescheduled their UK and European tour dates to 2023, citing travel difficulties caused by the pandemic.

The metal band’s tour was expected to kick off next month, however travel restrictions across countries have made the circuit unfeasible.

“We are deeply disappointed that we have to postpone these dates as we were determined to be one of the first international acts to resume touring across Europe,” bassist Paolo Gregoletto said in a statement to Kerrang .

“Unfortunately with the uncertainty of cross-border travel and restrictions it’s become impossible for these dates to proceed as planned. We can assure you we were doing everything up until the last minute to figure out a way to do the shows and it wasn’t a decision we made lightly.

“We appreciate this is a way off, but we promise to make it worth the wait and we have two new albums’ worth of material we haven’t toured yet to bring to you. We can’t wait to return and hope to see all of you at the rescheduled dates!”

Fellow metal act Heaven Shall Burn will be joining them across the UK and Europe, along with Malevolence in the UK only. An additional European support act will soon be confirmed.

Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine announce extra Ascendancy / The Poison 2025 tour dates, plus stellar support act

Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine have announced additional dates on their Poisoned Ascendancy world tour.

The metalcore favourites announced the tour in February, which will see them coheadline to celebrate their 20th anniversaries of their respective breakthrough albums, Ascendancy and The Poison .

The records will each be performed live in full.

The bands also announced the UK dates simultaneously, which will start on January 26, 2025, in Cardiff, Wales, and conclude on February 1 in London.

Now, the pair have added a string of European shows to the tour.

The full list of dates and the new poster are available below.

It’s also been revealed that Swedish groove/death metal up-and-comers Orbit Culture will be the support act for the UK and Europe gigs.

Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine have stated previously that The Poisoned Ascendancy will be a world tour, implying that North and South American and Asian dates will be added to the run in due course.

Ascendancy was released on March 15, 2005, as Trivium’s debut on renowned label Roadrunner Records.

It only charted at 151 in the band’s native United States, but received critical acclaim and became a sleeper hit, especially in the UK following Trivium’s main-stage set at Download festival, Donington, that June.

Ascendancy has since been certified Gold in the UK.

The Poison came out on October 3, 2005, and was Bullet For My Valentine’s debut album.

It reached number 21 on the album charts in the band’s native UK and also received critical acclaim.

The Poison has since been certified Gold in the UK and in the United States, and certified Platinum in Germany.

When the first Poisoned Ascendancy dates were announced in February, Trivium singer/guitarist Matt Heafy commented: “Bullet For My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy are two records whose influence can be heard to this day – in the DNA of modern metal.

“It’s incredible to think of the impact the albums had when they came out in 2005. They were both like bolts of lightning.

“Both bands grew up independently of each other in different countries and separately from any movement or scene but both shared a common love of melodic heavy metal at the core; and both had similar meteoric rises right out of the gate.”

Bullet For My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck also commented, saying: “I honestly can’t believe it's been 20 years since the release of The Poison and what an incredible 20 years it’s been.

“I feel so proud of what we've achieved as a band in the last two decades and it all started with that debut album.

“ The Poison is such an important part of our lives musically and personally and we know the massive impact it had on the metal world on a global level.

“This tour will be made even more special as our brothers in Trivium are also joining us on the road to celebrate and play in its entirety their stunning album Ascendancy .”
