WEDDINGS & FUNCTIONS
Leahton park is a unique and great country style venue that is only 10 km from charters towers with a sealed road to the front gate., meet the owners of the texas longhorn tours, mick & lynda.
Michael ‘Mick’ & Lynda Bethel moved to Charters Towers in 1998 - they liked the feel of the area and in particular, Leahton Park.
They have spent all of their lives raising cattle and operating their custom saddlery business. They had a herd of Texas Longhorn cattle and were inspired to share their knowledge and in 2009 Texas Longhorn Wagon Tours & Safaris was opened.
Mick and Lynda started Texas Longhorn Tours with a couple of horses and a wagon they made themselves, adding the Safaris a few years later.
Mick and Lynda say that talking to the people who visit Leahton Park is the best part of what they do. "We love sharing what we do with visitors from all over Australia and overseas as well."
When they get spare time, they're working on the property and in the saddle shop. They also try to visit their two daughters who live away and spend some time with their young grandchildren.

Must do experience.
The Texas Longhorn Safari was just like an African safari, being driven around in Polaris Rangers all wheel drive, go anywhere, light weight bush bashers. The day started with a welcoming greeting by the owners of Leahton Park, Lynda and Michael Bethel. We then watched a film on Leahton station and the history of Texas Longhorn cattle. An explanation of how the cattle are artificially inseminated followed. We then boarded the Polaris vehicles and were driven through the large property getting up close and personal with the Texas Longhorn cattle, as well as other breeds such as bison and Scottish highlander cattle. The morning finished with tea and yummy biscuits and slices. The whole experience was informative and it was obvious the passion and love Lynda and Mick have for their cattle.
Thanks for the great and comprehensive review and thanks again for visiting.
Our safari was a great experience that both my partner and I enjoyed. Linda and Mick were very informative and took the time to answer all questions and made the experience, they have done an amazing job. Definitely would recommend

Thanks for the nice review - we appreciate your support and kind words.
A fabulous informative day. Very professional and highly enjoyable. A must do while in Charters Towers.
Thanks Shona :-)
Highly recommend this tour. We did the safari tour and loved it. Lynda is a great host and very informative on all the runnings of the station. Texas longhorns are majestic animals and very inquisitive. Morning tea was delicious. This is the best tour experience we had throughout our travels. A must do when visiting Charters Towers.
Firstly, sorry for the late response to your review. We really appreciate your kind words.
Highly recommend this tour. We did the safari tour and absolutely loved it. Linda was wonderful and answered all of our questions and it never felt rushed at all. She even offered to take photos in front of these amazing animals for anyone who wanted to. The morning tea was delicious and then we could take our time wandering around the other exhibits they had on display. They even had a wonderful gift shop with lots of souvenirs and other interesting things. Definitely one not to be missed when visiting Charters Towers.
Thanks for the nice review - it was great to have you visit and we apologize for late response.
