The Smashing Pumpkins Announce New 2024 North American Tour Dates

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a 2024 North American Tour, running from July to September. Intermixed with The Saviors Tour–a series of co-headline performances alongside Green Day, beginning on July 29 in Washington, D.C.–the alt-rock pioneers will plot a run of solo sets, opening with a July 31 engagement at The KEE To Bala in Bala, Ontario. Beyond its 21 Green Day dates, the group will make 10 additional headline stops before a final show at Las Vegas’ BleauLive Theater on Sept. 27. 

After an Ontario send-off, the group will head to Montreal, Quebec on Aug. 3 for the Osheaga Festival before heading into the states for a performance at Maine Savings Ampitheater in Bangor, Maine on Aug. 4. The groundbreaking ensemble will then trek through the Midwest with an evening at Kansas City, Mo.’s Starlight Theatre on Aug. 14 before dates in Illinois and Iowa. Eventually heading south, the group will make a pitstop at Simpsonville, S.C.’s CCNB Ampitheater at Heritage Park on Aug. 27 before a Sept. 10 Southaven, Miss. show at the BankPlus Ampitheater At Snowden Grove. The tour will wrap with three shows in the West, including the solo tour’s grand finale in Las Vegas.

PVRIS and The Glorious Sons will join The Smashing Pumpkins to support the North American run. Beyond shows in the U.S. and Canada, the group will embark on a European tour through June and July. Starting in Birmingham, United Kingdom on June 7, the ensemble will deliver 20 additional performances with stops in England, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and more before a final set in Athens, Greece on July 16. Weezer, Interpol and Tom Morello have previously been announced as featured guest appearances for the European leg.

The Smashing Pumpkins  today announced their North American arena tour with special guests  Jane’s Addiction.  Produced by  Live Nation , the 32-date  SPIRITS ON FIRE TOUR  will commence on  October 2 in Dallas, TX  and will conclude on  November 19  in  Los Angeles, CA  at the  Hollywood Bowl . Both bands revealed the exciting news live this morning exclusively on  SiriusXM ’s  The Howard Stern Show . Pre-sales begin on  Thursday, May 12 from 10am local . Tomorrow night, in support of  The Smashing Pumpkins  tour announcement, the GRAMMY® Award-winning, critically acclaimed band will be performing and talking on  CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden . 

Later today,  The Smashing Pumpkins  will appear at the  TCL Chinese Theater  in Hollywood for a commemorative ceremony in celebration of their tour announcement. Each band-member will add their handprints in cement, joining a long list of global treasures before them. 

When  The Smashing Pumpkins  first emerged out of Chicago in 1988, the world had never heard a band quite like them. They spun together rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia, and electronic into a kaleidoscope of saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration, incendiary fretwork, eloquent songcraft, and unshakable hooks. Upon their formation, their sound was different, iconoclastic, and wholly new—and it still is today. As a result, they’ve sold over 30 million albums worldwide and collected two GRAMMY® Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. Their catalog is highlighted by the platinum  Gish   [1991], the quadruple-platinum  Siamese Dream  [1993], diamond-certified  Mellon Collie   and the Infinite Sadness  [1995], platinum  Adore   [1998], and gold  Machina/The Machines of God   [2000]. Live Review: The Smashing Pumpkins w/ Jane’s Addiction @ Capital One Arena — 10/18/2022

The Spirits on Fire Tour featuring The Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction paid visit to Capital One Arena last week featuring two bedrocks of the ’90s alternative rock scene taking different approaches to their sets.

At Capital One Arena on Oct. 18, headliners Smashing Pumpkins, led by alt-rock curmudgeon Billy Corgan, were ostensibly promoting their upcoming triple album, Atum, which is being released in three phases with Act 1 arriving on Nov. 15. The band’s set featured four new songs from Atum, “Beguiled,” “Empires,” “Harmageddon,” and “Neophyte.” “ Beguiled ” is out on your streaming service of choice, and it’s the best thing Corgan and Co. have done in years.

The aforementioned “Empires”  led off the night and was quickly followed by “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” and “Today” had the capacity crowd all on their feet. The next phase of the show was more for the hardcore fans and the energy in the venue dragged a bit when the band played a gothy cover of Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime” and the industrial-sounding tracks “Eye” and “Ava Adore.” However, a heartfelt acoustic version of  “Tonight, Tonight” by Billy and guitarist James Iha was a nice change of pace and got everyone’s attention back.

A late set 1-2-3 punch of “Cherub Rock,” “Zero,” and “1979” showed the breadth of the Pumpkins sound and returned the crowd’s energy level to 10/10 for the final few songs.

All in all, not a bad performance (certainly better than their somewhat stodgy 2019 show at Merriweather ) that showed Billy Corgan still has things to say that are worth hearing.

One thing Billy Corgan has been very good at recently is choosing excellent openers for his tours. In 2016 for Billy’s “Plainsong” tour he brought Liz Phair and in 2019 Noel Gallagher did the honors . This time around it was Jane’s Addiction, a band that somehow I had never seen. I still regret not seeing their 2009 NINJA co-headlining show at Merriweather with Nine Inch Nails but I unsuccessfully tried to see the Beastie Boys in Baltimore that night. 

I did not have high expectations for their set, especially with Dave Navarro’s absence due to long covid (get well soon, Dave!) but I could not have been more wrong. Perry Farrell and Co. sounded brilliant and aside from one cover, stuck to material released before 1991. Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen filled in at guitar and with all respect to Navarro, he fit in seamlessly and you’d have never known this was his first tour with the band.

Perry Farrell’s voice was magnificent and the rhythm section of bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins supplied the tribal beats and basslines that propel the band. The 10-minute epic “Three Days” was a particular highlight and a song I’ve waited decades to hear live.

Smashing pumpkins, bunnie xo takes part in viral tiktok trend to taylor swift's 'who's afraid of little old me', trending on billboard.

“I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong,” Corgan said in a statement announcing the tour he hopes will remind fans of some of the classic alternative tours and festivals of the 1990s. “That’s what The World Is A Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don’t fit in, you belong here. It’s about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party.”

The Pumpkins’ driving, new wavey new single, “Spellbinding,” got its radio debut on Tuesday morning during Corgan’s appearance on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show, during which the band also played “1979” and “Empires” live in the studio. The final act of the band’s three-part rock opera, ATUM , is slated for release on May 5.

The Smashing Pumpkins Announce North American Headlining Arena Tour Dates

General on-sale begins Friday, May 13 at 10am local.

The Smashing Pumpkins today announced their North American arena tour with special guests Jane's Addiction. Produced by Live Nation, the 32-date SPIRITS ON FIRE TOUR will commence in October including UBS Arena at Belmont Park on Friday, October 14.

Both bands revealed the exciting news live this morning exclusively on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show. Pre-sales begin on Thursday, May 12 from 10am local. General on-sale begins Friday, May 13 at 10am local. For tickets and more details, go here .

Tomorrow night, in support of The Smashing Pumpkins tour announcement, the GRAMMY® Award-winning, critically acclaimed band will be performing and talking on CBS' The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Later today, The Smashing Pumpkins will appear at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood for a commemorative ceremony in celebration of their tour announcement. Each band-member will add their handprints in cement, joining a long list of global treasures before them.

When The Smashing Pumpkins first emerged out of Chicago in 1988, the world had never heard a band quite like them. They spun together rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia, and electronic into a kaleidoscope of saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration, incendiary fretwork, eloquent songcraft, and unshakable hooks. Upon their formation, their sound was different, iconoclastic, and wholly new-and it still is today.

As a result, they've sold over 30 million albums worldwide and collected two GRAMMY® Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. Their catalog is highlighted by the platinum Gish [1991], the quadruple-platinum Siamese Dream [1993], diamond-certified Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness [1995], platinum Adore [1998], and gold Machina/The Machines of God [2000].

In 2018, they embarked on one of their most successful tours ever, the Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour, followed by SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN. Meanwhile, 2020 saw the release of the band's eleventh full-length and latest double album, CYR. As prolific as ever, The Smashing Pumpkins confirmed they will release more music in 2022 as they resume touring. More details to come.

UBS Arena at Belmont Park is made for music and built for hockey. New York's newest premier entertainment and sports venue and home of the New York Islanders is developed in partnership with Oak View Group, the New York Islanders and Jeff Wilpon. Providing a significant boost to the regional economy, the world-class entertainment venue, with its timeless and classic design, bridges its iconic past with today's advanced technology and amenities.

The $1.1 billion multi-purpose, state of the art arena opened in November 2021 and has welcomed top artists including Harry Styles, Sebastian Maniscalco, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Genesis and TWICE.

The venue will host more than 150 major events annually while delivering an unmatched live entertainment experience including clear sightlines and premier acoustics. UBS Arena is designed to accommodate 19,000 people for concerts and 17,255 for NHL games. In an effort to build a greener future, UBS Arena intends on being carbon neutral for operations before 2024, which will make it the first arena to do so on the eastern United States seaboard.

Smashing Pumpkins have added to their upcoming tour schedule with a run of headlining shows taking place this summer and fall.

In between their upcoming gigs opening for Green Day on their own “Saviors Tour,” the Pumpkins will play headlining shows in Montreal, Kansas City, Des Moines, St. Louis, Reno, Las Vegas, and beyond.

For the newly announced shows, a ticket pre-sale begins Tuesday, April 2nd (use code VAMPIRE ), with a public on-sale taking place on Friday, April 5th via Ticketmaster .

Fans can also find deals or get tickets to sold-out shows via Stubhub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

Smashing Pumpkins recently launched an open call for a new guitarist following the departure of Jeff Schroeder. The band received over 10,000 applications , but have yet to announce who won the job.

A press release announcing Smashing Pumpkins’ new tour dates also confirms that the band is currently working on new music for release later this year.

For the last two years The Smashing Pumpkins have been nothing but prolific. Last year they took their curated The World Is A Vampire Tour on the road with Stone Temple Pilots and Rival Sons . In 2022, they traveled across North America on their Spirits On Fire Tour with fellow rock legends Jane’s Addiction . They also recently completed their three-act rock opera ATUM , a 33-track behemoth that included singles like “Beguiled” and “Spellbinding.” At the moment they are in the studio recording new songs and plan on releasing them this year.

Green Day Detail 2024 Tour With the Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, the Hives, and More

Green Day recently told fans that they’d be going on a North American tour next year with support from the Smashing Pumpkins , Rancid , and the Linda Lindas . The band has now shared the details of the Saviors Tour, which is scheduled to kick off in Europe in May. For the European leg of the tour, Green Day will have support from Nothing but Thieves, the Hives, Donots, the Interrupters, and Maid of Ace. The group begins the North American leg in July. Green Day’s tour comes in support of the band’s new album, Saviors . The band will also use the trek celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dookie and 20th anniversary of American Idiot .

“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors , a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. So let’s thrash,” Green Day remarked in a press release. “We’ve got some amazing friends who are coming along for the ride!”

Saviors , the follow-up to 2020’s Father of All… , is out January 19. Below, watch the music video for the new LP’s second single, “ Look Ma, No Brains! ”

Smashing Pumpkins reveal new guitarist after receiving over 10,000 public applications

The Smashing Pumpkins have revealed their new guitarist after receiving over 10,000 public applications to fill in the spot.

At the beginning of the year, frontman Billy Corgan launched a search for an additional guitarist  and anyone interested was encouraged to apply. The call for guitarists generated over 10,000 applications. The position came up after longtime guitarist  Jeff Schroeder announced that was leaving the band last October.

After narrowing down the applications, a small group of finalists auditioned for the position in person in Los Angeles last month. The iconic alternative rock band chose veteran session musician and Youtube sensation Kiki Wong as their new guitarist.

Wong has performed with Taylor Swift at the 2014 VMA’s,  Usher at CBS’s Fashion Rocks Fall 2014 and was the lead guitarist for Bret Michaels in a commercial for Nissan. She has also performed with rock bands Nylon Pink, Hellfire Heart, and currently, Vigil of War.

The veteran guitarist has 210,000 subscribers on YouTube, 1.3million followers on TikTok and 667K followers on Instagram.

Speaking about choosing Wong as their new guitarist in a statement, Corgan said: “Reviewing the work of these incredible musicians was a herculean, albeit worthy effort. First off, I really want to thank everyone who submitted materials for consideration. It wasn’t an easy decision with how much great guitar playing we were lucky enough to hear and see over the past few months.”

He continued: “I was a fan of Kiki’s before she submitted her name to be considered – and it’s great that someone of her acumen will be part of our touring family. I can’t wait to hit the road with Kiki as part of our mad circus. It’s definitely an exciting moment for The Smashing Pumpkins to be this busy with touring in 2024. We’ll see you all this summer!”

Wong added: “It’s been an absolute wild ride, but I am beyond honoured and humbled to be chosen to perform alongside some of rock’s greatest and most influential musicians of all time.”

Wong will join the band – comprised of Corgan, guitarist James Iha, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, plus touring members Jack Bates (bass) and Katie Cole (guitar, keys, vocals) – in the UK and Europe at the beginning of June where they will make their debut as a new lineup. Billy Corgan's crew put out an open call for a new member in January and they've found the latest addition to their line-up

The Smashing Pumpkins have unveiled their new guitarist. Back in January, the Chicago alt-rock giants announced that they were looking for a new six-stringer after the departure of long-serving member Jeff Schroeder, who had played with the group since they reunited in 2007. After putting out an open call and prompting many a 90s rock fan to go up to the loft and dust down their old guitar, the band stated that they had received over 10,000 submissions vying for the position, stating that there were eight people “working full-time to review each and every one”.

This afternoon, the band announced the winner, ending the dream for Dave from Milton Keynes and 9,998 others who thought this could be their big break. Writing on their social media channels, they said, “SP is excited to officially welcome highly-skilled veteran guitarist Kiki Wong. Kiki joins the band’s touring lineup of Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha, along with mainstays Jack Bates and Katie Cole. Please join us in welcoming Kiki to the SP family.”

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City says The Smashing Pumpkins will perform at Battery Park this summer on Sunday, Aug. 18.

The Hard Rock says The Smashing Pumpkins is bringing its “The World is a Vampire Tour” to Sioux City and will be the second act in Hard Rock’s Summer Concert Series. They’ll be joined by special guests PVRIS.

F ollowing a viral search that included seeking open applications from the public, the Smashing Pumpkins have announced their new guitarist for their upcoming tour.

The Chicago-based rock band is welcoming Kiki Wong to join the group's current touring lineup of Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, James Iha, Jack Bates and Katie Cole.

"It's been an absolute wild ride, but I am beyond honored to be chosen to perform alongside some of rock's greatest and most influential musicians of all time. I never thought little ole 15-year-old me playing metal guitar in my bedroom would amount to this moment. It goes to show hard work and perseverance truly pays off if you're willing to push through the tough stuff, so never lose hope out there. I am so grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to share the stage with the legendary Smashing Pumpkins," Wong said.

The band announced they would be sharing more information in the coming weeks while encouraging fans to check out Wong's work and welcome her into the fold.

The Smashing Pumpkins have released 12 studio albums, with their most recent work, "Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts" being released in May 2023.

The group kicks off their next tour in Birmingham, England on June 7, while kicking off a North American tour in Washington, D.C. on July 29.

The Smashing Pumpkins will play a hometown show at Wrigley Field alongside Green Day on Aug. 13.

Vigil Of War guitarist joins the Chicago band after an open audition process that attracted 10,000 applications

Los Angeles-based guitarist Kiki Wong has been announced as Jeff Shroeder 's replacement in the Smashing Pumpkins as a touring guitarist, following an open audition process that began at the beginning of the year, prompting around 10,000 applications from around the world.

The guitarist with LA rockers Vigil Of War has a significant social media following with  674,000 followers on Instagram where she posts covers, collaborations and playing insights. 

"SP is excited to officially welcome highly-skilled veteran guitarist Kiki Wong," the band posted on Instagram. "Kiki joins the band’s touring lineup of Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha, along with mainstays Jack Bates and Katie Cole. Please join us in welcoming Kiki to the SP family."

Vigil Of War have released two EPs to date with the most recent, Reap What You Sow in 2022. The following year Wong gave birth to her son Jet Merrick Autry.

Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan offered further insight to Wong's selection in an addition post on the Pumpkins' Instagram.

"Reviewing the work of these incredible musicians was herculean, albeit worthy effort," he reflected. "First off, I really want to thank everyone who submitted materials for consideration.

"It wasn't an easy decision with how much great guitar playing we were lucky enough to hear and see over the past few months," he admitted. "I was a fan of Kiki's before she submitted her name to be considered – and it's great that someone of her acumen will be part of our touring family. 

"I can't wait to hit the road with Kiki as a partner in our mad circus. It's definitely an exciting moment for The Smashing Pumpkins to be this busy with touring in 2024. We'll see you all this summer!"
