Sous le haut patronage de la commission nationale française pour l’Unesco, le « Monumental Tour » aura lieu vendredi 29 septembre 2023 dans la cour du Château royal. Ce concert exceptionnel sera placé sous le signe de la musique electro avec projection et créations scénographiques.

Le Monumental Tour 2023 au Château Royal de Blois

Après avoir électrisé les publics dans des sites historiques exceptionnels comme le Château de Vincennes, le Phare des Baleines de l’île de Ré et l’Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel, Michael Canitrot, le talentueux DJ/Producteur à l’origine du projet Monumental Tour, se prépare à animer la Cathédrale de Laon, la Place Stanislas de Nancy, l’Abbaye de Maillezais, et pour ce qui nous intéresse : le célèbre Château Royal de Blois.

Soutenu par la Commission nationale française pour l’UNESCO, le Monumental Tour s’apparente à une révolution culturelle, mixant musique électronique, patrimoine historique et art digital . L’objectif : fusionner l’ancien et le nouveau, permettant aux mélomanes de voir et d’apprécier nos monuments sous un angle radicalement différent. Ces soirées promettent une synergie époustouflante entre musique électronique, scénographies impressionnantes comprenant light-shows et vidéo-mapping, et l’architecture historique.

En plus de la mise en lumière de notre patrimoine, le Monumental Tour a une vocation pédagogique. Il ambitionne de sensibiliser le public à l’importance de préserver nos sites historiques pour les générations futures , et ce, à travers des appels aux dons. Il sert également de plateforme pour les talents émergents de la scène électronique française , offrant à de jeunes artistes une opportunité inégalée de se produire dans ces lieux d’exception.

Michael Canitrot a souligné que le Monumental Tour est une « expérience musicale et visuelle » née de sa passion pour la musique électronique et les monuments historiques. En transformant chaque site en une scène musicale immersive, il a pour ambition de faire découvrir ces lieux emblématiques sous un jour nouveau.

Les dernières performances du Monumental Tour ont séduit des millions de spectateurs, à la fois en direct et via des diffusions sur des chaînes populaires comme France 2 et C8. Le Château de Chantilly, le Palais-Royal, le Château de Pierrefonds et bien d’autres ont déjà été mis en lumière lors de ce tour.

A monumental musical experience

The show goes on for the Monumental Tour in 2023, with concerts and dazzling visuals at some of France ’ s most beautiful monuments.

Launched in 2019, the Monumental Tour continues to bring audiences across France a musical multimedia experience like no other. Supported by the French National Commission for UNESCO, this ongoing series of concerts was originally conceived by French DJ and producer Michael Canitrot and in collaboration with the creative visual team of AV Extended. He wanted to bring together different creative disciplines and talents in an encounter with France’s historical monuments. The result is a unique cultural event that continues to delight audiences.

The Monumental Tour presents some of France’s most iconic historical sites from a new perspective, making them a canvas for immersive multimedia shows that combine electronic music, video projections, digitally mapped light shows and live performances. ESA has contributed to the project from the outset, providing stunning images from Earth observation satellites and the Hubble Space Telescope to add to the spectacular visuals for each show.

Michael Canitrot reflected on the extra creative dimension provided by collaborating with ESA: “The partnership with ESA has allowed us to push the boundaries of inspiration and instil strong symbolism. Using sublime satellite images from thousands of kilometres away as a creative basis for imagining entire paintings and projecting them onto iconic monuments produces a fascinating encounter between the past, present, and future, as well as a connection between space and our Earth. What a fascinating dialogue.”

The Monumental Tour concerts attract a diverse crowd, bringing generations together at a variety of historical venues, and are also viewed on TV and via livestreams on social media. Each show helps to raise awareness of how precious France’s heritage sites are and how important it is to preserve them for future generations. They also support fundraising efforts for local heritage projects. With an eye on the future, the opening section of each concert also provides a platform for up-and-coming talents to present their work.

The first three years of the tour have visited a wide range of venues, including monuments such as the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, the Château de Vincennes, the Palais-Royal in Paris, Lisbon City Hall, the Whale Lighthouse in Ile de Ré, the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Laon and the Abbey of Maillezais.

There’s still a chance to catch the show in 2023 and experience it for yourself, with two dates remaining in September: a show at Place Stanislas in Nancy and another at the Château Royal de Blois. They are sure to be monumentally impressive musical experiences.

Modulo Kinetic at the cornerstone of an astounding mapping on the Royal Château of Blois for the Monumental Tour

The Royal Château of Blois brightened up in late September with the Monumental Tour . AV EXTENDED projected onto the interior façades of the Renaissance and Gothic style edifice. The projection mapping relied on 12 Christie projectors powered by the Modulo Kinetic media server. One Modulo Kinetic Designer workstation was installed in the control room of the Monumental Tour. It was connected to 2 Modulo Kinetic V-Node servers – each equipped with 6 outputs – within the castle control room through ethernet cables.

The edifice, including its remarkable grand spiral staircase, was mapped thanks to Modulo Kinetic ’s X-Map function. Using this exclusive feature, teams of AV Extended had the ability to warp each layer independently and have a the most accurate mapping.

Monumental Tour Initiated by the DJ and Producer Michael Canitrot, The Monumental Tour offers a unique experience blending electro music and digital art, in the core of emblematic heritage sites. A strong partner in the project, AV EXTENDED is entrusted with the visual and lighting design to sublimate the exceptional sites serving as backdrops for the Monumental Tour.

The ticket office closes 30 minutes before the Chateau. Our ticket office staff remain at your disposal for further information in French and English.

Everything you ever wanted to know about the lives of the kings and queens, a guided tour unveils their story and opens the doors to the Royal Château of Blois. What were they eating? What odors were they smelling? Nothing will be a secret for you afterwards.

Children will discover the Chateau and the Fine Arts Museum while having fun; there will be questions, games, riddles, puzzles, drawings and observation... At the exit, a small gift will be theirs. No extra charge.

"Behind-the-doors" tour (only in French)

A conference guide will take you on a very special tour of the château and show you parts that are usually closed to the public: apartments, towers, fortifications, attics and other unusual places.

- On the Place du Chateau, 2 parking spaces for people with reduced mobility (PMR, in French) are at your disposal, as are toilets designed for the disabled; they are located at the back of the courtyard, on the right. They may be reached via the ground floor of the Francis I wing. - Wheelchair available on loan, information at the reception desk - Seats are present in all rooms, throughout the visit

The château has held the national ‘Accessible Tourism’ mark for hearing and mentally impaired visitors

Explanatory notices for visitors are available in the reception area, as is a magnetic loop system for the hard of hearing. Portable magnetic loops loan available for the audio guide route. For persons with mental and cognitive disabilities, suitably tailored tours are offered, on reservation.

For your tour of the Fine Arts Museum (located in the Louis XII wing, accessible by the staircase, half a flight up from the Hall of the Estates General), we can lend you magnifying glasses and eyeglasses (TVmax). Folding stools are available at the museum. Please ask for information directly at the museum entrance.

For blind or visually impaired persons , suitably tailored tours are offered, on reservation.

Whenever material is borrowed, an identity document will be requested.

Apart from these spots, the parking for camper vans is allowed on public roads, on condition of having an adequate size.

Golden Spike monument’s stop at Union Station to coincide with opening of new exhibit

OGDEN — Next week will be big for Union Station.

May 3 will mark the Golden Spike Anniversary Whistle Stop Tour from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Hope Eggett, curator for the Museums at Union Station, told the Standard-Examiner that the event helps commemorate the May 10 anniversary of the driving of the golden spike on the transcontinental railroad and will feature a stopover by the Golden Spike Foundation’s monument.

“We’ll be visited by a 43-foot golden spike monument up close before it gets installed in Brigham City later this month,” she said. “It will be right there in our main plaza.”

Additionally, she said the day also will see a new exhibit opening at the museum.

“We are opening our Chinese railroad worker exhibit,” she said. “This is a temporary art show that’s in collaboration with the Utah Chinese Golden Spike Society and the U.S.-China Railway Culture Friendship Association.”

The exhibit opening is scheduled for 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Eggett said the event will help celebrate a major part of Ogden’s past.

“It’s a great opportunity to honor our heritage as well as to celebrate all that the transcontinental railroad has affected (in) Ogden and our area today,” she said.
