For those who miss out, there’s also resale opportunities to secure tickets to one of the Eras Tour shows in Australia. But, as we saw overseas, getting Eras Tour tickets has been a bit of a struggle for everyone. Issues with ticketing sites, opportunistic scalpers and the sheer competition among fans meant many missed out, so there’s a lot of people holding onto hope for resale tickets.

So, as we anxiously wait for more tickets to be offered up, we’re trying to be as prepped as possible. Here’s some precious intel that will help you get tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour .

When Will Resale Tickets For The Eras Tour Be Available?

If you didn’t manage to get tickets the first time round then there’s still a chance you might secure those seats. Resale is now available for anyone with a Ticketek account through TMarketplace.

It will allow anyone with tickets to list theirs on the platform, available to be sold at up to 10 per cent more to someone else. When they’re resold, a new barcode is issued so that the original owner of the tickets can no longer attend the Eras Tour.

There are other third-party sites that will be selling tickets, but Ticketek warns any ticket not sold through TMarketplace could be at risk of cancellation, with the ticket price refunded to the original seller.

The resale platform will be open from now until closer to the concert, allowing fans lots of time to list their tickets if their plans change.

What Are The Australian Taylor Swift Eras Tour Dates?

How To Get Tickets To Taylor Swift

Tickets for the Eras Tour went on sale across a series of drops.

AMEX Presale

The first pre-sale tickets were offered to American Express credit card holders, who could purchase tickets from June 26.

Frontier Touring Presale

The pre-sale, courtesy of Taylor’s Australian tour promoters, Frontier Touring was available on June 28.

General Sale

The general sale of tickets started on June 30.

The resale date for the Eras Tour ticket resale was moved back from September 4 to November 24.

From November 24, tickets are on sale from 10am on the TMarketplace. This is the only official place to buy tickets and any tickets purchased on other platforms are at risk of being cancelled by the ticketing company – in an effort to avoid scalping.

Tickets will not be able to be sold for more than 10 per cent of their value.

Additional tickets, including partially obstructed side-view seats have already been released, so it’s unlikely we’ll see another round of additional seating.

What Are The Best & Worst Seats For Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour?

Swifties know everything (fact) and some beautifully generous fans are sharing some precious first-hand info about the best seats on the Eras Tour.

Those who have attended shows along Swift’s US tour have taken to TikTok to share the view from their respective seats, providing precious insight into what kind of view you’ll get, from where.

Both Australian arenas — like her international shows — have a similar layout and stage design, with an aisle and diamond-shaped platform protruding into the floor section.

You can also see where sound stages or other potential obstructions are on the floor (those are the greyed or blacked-out sections).

The Best Seats For Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Let’s take this per section…

Floor Seating, A-Reserve

Floor seating is, of course, allocated. There will be no rushing the stage or camping out for a front row position. You’ll have to duke it out with everyone else online.

If you’re towards the front of the floor sections (closer to the stage) you’ll be winning… But not all floor seating is created equal (more on that below).

It should be said, that floor seating is often about the vibe more than anything else.

The ‘lower bowl’ sections, i.e. the elevated seating around the sides is reportedly stellar, and superior to many floor section seats.

if you can get to the sides of the ‘diamond stage’ section, you will be loving life!

Here’s one such view …

The Worst Seats For Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Floor Seating

We’ve been through the pros of floor seating at the Eras Tour, but there have been many reports that you can’t see anything from the back of the floor sections. This could potentially include parts of B, C (outer), D & E floor sections, which is something to be mindful of for the cost.

Views can be obscured by people standing in front of you, and may be particularly tricky if you’re bringing along kids or anyone with a height disadvantage in the context.

Obstructed view

Of course, it’s wise to be wary of any tickets that come with an ‘obstructed view’ warning. However, here ‘s one such example from the US tour and, as you can see, the view wasn’t really ‘obstructed’ at all. (Watch below)

Nosebleed section

Again, this depends on how you define ‘bad’. It’s long been known that the nosebleed section is the furthest away from the action, and it’s the reason why it’s so cheap. However, for many, the price will be unbeatable (G-Reserve starts from $79.90, compared to $379.90 for A-Reserve). You’ll still be there at Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour — enjoy the ride!

As they say, there are no bad seats at the Eras Tour.

It seems Taylor Swift may have underestimated how beloved she is Down Under, that even right up until showtime, fans were clamouring for tickets.

In a new TikTok video taken on Night 2 of her sold-out Eras Tour in Sydney , fans who missed out on tickets who descended onto Accor Stadium anyway were seen running to the ticket booths when last minute tickets were announced over the speakers.

The clip, shared by user Melissa Aleksioska, showed hordes of Swifties rushing to the ticket booths for one last shot at getting their hands on the coveted seats.

“When they announce last minute tickets,” Melissa captioned the video.

Several TikTok users noted how “dangerous” the moment looked, with one commented that “people [are] about to be crushed”.

Another video on TikTok is getting attention after one user called out fans who arrived to the Sydney show one hour late.

A fan who wasn’t lucky enough to score a ticket aired their grievances on the platform, sharing a video of them sitting outside Accor Stadium while concertgoers arrived late and headed straight past them and into the arena.

“The people arriving at the Era Tour over 1 hour late vs. the fans who missed out on tickets and had to listen from outside,” the user captioned the video, while stationed outside the stadium on the ground.

However, some TikTok commenters suggested perhaps these fans were arriving late due to unforeseen circumstances or flight delays and cancellations because of the weather.

The user, who appeared to stay outside the stadium from start to finish, was also not impressed when some concertgoers left early while Taylor was still singing.

“Don’t even get me started on the people who left early,” they added.

Swift will perform another two sold-out shows in Sydney on Sunday and Monday, before jetting off to Singapore for the next leg of her tour.

Taylor Swift writes of being “shattered” during her Eras Tour in one of the songs on her latest headline-making album.

Country singer Luke Bryan took a mighty fall at his recent show, appearing to slip on a fan’s belonging that wound up onstage.

This is savage. One of the biggest rappers of the 21st century just performed to a near-empty arena meant to house 10,000 screaming fans.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

A new ‘Era’ just dropped.

On Friday, April 19, at midnight, Taylor Swift released her eleventh studio album “The Tortured Poets Department.”

“An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure,” Swift wrote on Instagram , describing the ambitious record.

Two hours later, she surprised even the most devout Swifties announcing that “The Tortured Poets Department” is a 31-track (!) double album.

“I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours,” she shared in a second late night post.

Taylor Swift poses on the red carpet.

While fans devour the sprawling record — featuring special guests Post Malone and Florence And The Machine — Swift is gearing up for another leg of her ongoing ‘Eras Tour.’

Starting May 9, she’ll resume her international trek with four shows at Paris, FR’s La Defense Arena .

When our team last reported on tickets in early January, prices for those France gigs could be scored for as low as $797 USD before fees on Vivid Seats.

Now, prices start at $433 before fees at the time of publication.

While that downward trend doesn’t hold true for every country she’s visiting, some ticket prices are significantly lower than they were three months ago.

The lowest price we found for all 65 remaining shows was $202 before fees for a show in Lyon, FR; the biggest drop in prices for a single show was over $2,500 (!) for an Italy gig.

Want to dig a bit deeper and find out how much it will cost to see Taylor (and maybe Travis Kelce) this year at the show nearest you?

You’re in luck.

We went ahead and found the cheapest tickets for all ‘Eras Tour’ concerts now versus what they cost on Jan. 3, 2024.

See you at a show (and save us a friendship bracelet).

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Taylor Swift 2024 tickets

A complete calendar including all upcoming tour dates, venues and the best ticket prices for all concerts versus what they cost on Jan. 3 can be found here.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Taylor Swift set list

While Swift is known for dropping a surprise song or two into her shows, the tracks stay surprisingly consistent for most gigs (although that will likely change in the wake of “TTPD’s” release).

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.

Over the past few months, we’ve a) spoken to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live, b)  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends  and c)  explained the drama  surrounding her international opener Sabrina Carpenter.

Want to see how much it cost to see Taylor in the states at the outset of the ‘Eras Tour?’ You can find that information  right here .

Taylor Swift new music

As noted above, Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” was released on midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek synth of “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged ballad “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

If you want to give it a spin — if you haven’t already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department” here .

Taylor Swift opening acts

Taylor only has two opening acts lined up for the ‘Eras Tour’ this year.

Here’s what you need to know about her well-established special guests.

Paramore will play alongside Swift after mounting a massive 2023 tour of their own. The group, fronted by lead singer Hayley Williams, reunited in 2022 after a five-year hiatus. For fans that want to check out their latest, you can listen to “This Is Why,” their sixth studio album, which dropped in February 2023.

Gracie Abrams , the daughter of film director JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, is a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and headlined her own tour last spring as well.

Huge stars on tour in 2024

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (maybe more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Olivia Rodrigo

•  Kacey Musgraves

•  Pink

•  Chappell Roan

•  Alanis Morissette

Excess demand has led organisers to add one last-minute round of new tickets. By Ella Sangster and Dani Maher

sydney eras tour seating

WHEN TICKETS TO the highly-anticipated Australian leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour went on sale in June, chaos ensued. Major scrambling and group-chat-planning occurred, but in what felt like the blink of an eye, the last of the coveted tickets were snapped up, leaving many eager fans empty-handed.

Since then, those unlucky fans have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of further available tickets through resale platforms — but now, even better news has come their way, as Frontier Touring has announced one last sweep of tickets will be released for eager fans, just days before Swift is set to touchdown in Australia.

It’s an exciting announcement for those many fans who missed out on earlier tickets when they went on sale in June. With only five original shows — two in Melbourne and three in Sydney — and 450,000 tickets available at the first release, there were always going to be fans left brokenhearted. And even when two new dates were added and the general sale began, many Swifties missed out.

Below, discover everything to know about securing tickets to the Australian leg of Taylor Swift’s tour — including all the details about the last round of tickets going on sale on February 13.

Are there new Taylor Swift Australian tickets available?

Yes, new tickets for the Melbourne and Sydney Eras Tour have been announced as of February 13. Frontier Touring shared this morning that “with the show setup now underway it has been confirmed that limited tickets, including restricted view tickets at $65.90, can be released for sale”.

The tickets — which will be available in an even more limited quantity than before — will be available for all of Swift’s Australian tour dates. The last round of tickets will go on sale here on Tuesday, February 13 at 2pm for all Melbourne concerts, and at 4pm for all Sydney concerts.

It’s sure to be a bloodbath once again — so be sure to log in to your Ticketek account early to pre-load your card details and ensure a smooth as possible process should you be lucky enough to make it through the queue. Once you’ve arrived on the landing page, stay calm and don’t refresh to avoid losing your place in the line. Good luck!

When will Taylor Swift resale tickets go on sale in Australia?

Second-hand tickets are available via Ticketek’s official resale platform, Marketplace — but bear in mind that it’s no easy feat to score even those. “Please note authorised resale tickets are extremely scarce and availability is subject to other fans listing their tickets for resale,” Ticketek have written on the waiting page for Marketplace.

Initially, the Taylor Swift resale was scheduled to open on September 4, however, Frontier rescheduled that date to Friday, November 24. On the platform, strict measures have been introduced to avoid scalping, with tickets unable to be resold for more than 10 per cent above the original price.

What happened when Taylor Swift Australia tickets originally went on sale?

The tickets for Swift’s Australian Eras tour first went on sale in June 2023. The scramble to nab tickets in the Frontier Touring presale event was intense, with more than four million fans reportedly attempting to secure their spot at one of the shows in Sydney or Melbourne.

Nine reported that the number of people who were in the online queue to access tickets set an all-time record for Ticketek. For the most part, the retailer’s site held up despite the traffic, although some users did report glitches or strange on-site happenings. Sydney tickets sold out just before 2pm on the day of the presale following “unprecedented demand.” Melbourne presale opened at 2pm and also swiftly sold out.

In response to the demand, two new dates were added, with one extra in each city. But as the clock ticked by for the general sale, more and more Swift fans went broken-hearted without securing Eras tickets.

Then on September 7, news broke that there would be one more shot for securing tickets. But those hopes for new opportunities were dashed just as quickly as they arose, as Frontier Touring have issued a statement denying that any new  Eras Tour  tickets will be available for purchase.

According to news.com.au, Accor (the hospitality group who own the naming rights to Accor Stadium where the Eras Tour will take place in Sydney) announced it would be selling new category A and suite package tickets for all four of the Sydney shows. The catch, however, was that the tickets would only be available to purchase using Accor Reward points via Accor’s Live Limitless program — 12,000 for the category A tickets, and 35,000 for suite packages. To enter in a points auction would cost 1000 points. However, in a statement issued on Thursday afternoon, Frontier Touring clarified that no further tickets would be available, despite the reports.

“Frontier Touring wish to advise that stories in the media today that Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets will be available through the ACCOR Live Limitless program are incorrect,” the statement read. “ACCOR is not approved for this activity and have confirmed they will be removing this offer immediately. We remind fans that the only safe — and approved — avenue to secure tickets is through the official ticketing agency for the tour, Ticketek.”

What is going on with the Australian Taylor Swift tour?

Tickets to the Eras Tour start at a respectable $79.90 for G Reserve and max out at $1249.90 for the largest VIP Package.

However, the costs didn’t end once fans had secured a ticket. Given Swift is only touring two cities along the East Coast, fans from interstate and New Zealand have had to fork out for flights and accommodation, too. When Swift took her tour to Chicago earlier this month, the weekend saw Chicago book the most hotel rooms on record, with occupancy averaging 96.8 per cent. Naturally, Aussie fans are already ahead, with some reportedly locking in accommodation as early as eight months out from the shows.

That demand posed another problem for those out-of-towners who were lucky enough to score a ticket, as fans report that affordably-priced accommodation quickly already sold out, along with flights.

“Have been looking at accommodation and there is literally nothing left. I didn’t even think about this,” wrote one Twitter user after securing tickets.

“Flights from Perth to Syd jumped to $2k for those dates, let alone accommodation. Scabs everywhere,” another vented.

“Okay, did not expect flights from New Zealand to Sydney to skyrocket like this! How did we not think about this before!” wrote yet another.

sydney eras tour seating

Virgin Australia released a statement on the issue, noting “We have seen a whopping 656 per cent increase in bookings to Melbourne and Sydney for Taylor Swift’s concert dates following the ticket release on Wednesday”.

“Swifties based in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide are leading the interstate fanfare with the most booked fares across the concert dates. Bookings are expected to increase again following the second ticket release today.”

The dedication is so strong that an Aussie fan told 9Honey they’d dipped into their housing deposit fund to afford tickets for the first American Express presale.

Why? The answer is simple: It’s Taylor .

One New Zealand-based Stuff culture reporter wrote that she’d already purchased flights for Swift’s Sydney show — prior to the sale going live.

She wrote: “I don’t mind the amount of money I’ll end up spending, or even the Australians I’ll have to interact with — the hope of seeing the person who has shaped my life for 15 years would convince me to do anything.”

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour declared a major event in Victoria

In huge news for die-hard fans, the Victorian government has declared Swift’s Melbourne shows a major event. The Andrews government declared the MCG shows on February 16 and 17, 2024, as a major event under the Major Events Act 2009.

The move was intended to protect fans from scalpers, who buy tickets with the intention to resell them with exorbitant price increases for profit.

“By making a major event ticketing declaration for the concerts, fans are protected from being ripped off by ticket scalpers, ensuring that tickets are available at a fair price,” a statement from the state government read. “Under the legislation, tickets to a declared major event can’t be advertised for resale or resold for more than 10 per cent above their original value.”

“In addition to this, ticket package sellers are required to be authorised by the event organiser, and individual ticket advertisements must also include ticket and seating details.”

The office added that breaches of this legislation could result in fines between $925 and $554,760.

European cities hope jet-setting Taylor Swift fans will splash the cash for Eras tour

The superstar arrives in Europe next month – and Swifties, tourist boards and venues are already preparing

T im Brown, 44, and his wife, Marcella, 34, may not consider themselves bona fide “Swifties”, but when it was announced last June that Taylor Swift would be visiting their corner of the globe this summer they could not resist joining the scramble for a pair of tickets.

A post-pandemic appetite for live music events has fuelled huge worldwide interest in the American singer-songwriter’s Eras tour, which surpassed in $1bn sales in November to become the highest-grossing series of concerts in history.

The pop culture event of the summer will arrive in Europe next month, kicking off in Paris on 9 May and wrapping up in London on 20 August with 49 dates in between in Sweden, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The unique nature of the tour’s ticketing system, which was tweaked after a number of hitches last year, means there will be a mass movement of travelling fans who will not only be Swiftie in affiliation but swift-like in their willingness to travel across the continent.

In expectation of intense demand, Ticketmaster introduced a pre-registration system that rewarded some early applicants with access codes to the ticket sale proper, via staggered windows for each city.

Notionally designed to prioritise genuine fans over “scalpers” – people who buy and resell tickets for a quick profit – the pre-sales system also meant many fans registered for tickets in multiple destinations across Europe to increase their chances.

Taylor Swift performs on stage amid a sea of confetti

Tim and Marcella, who live in Norwich, registered not just for the nearest concerts – in London and Liverpool – but also in Amsterdam and Lisbon. The pair got lucky with a pair of €91 tickets in the Portuguese capital and have turned the trip into a weekend break. “I used to live in Lisbon so I thought why not kill two birds with one stone,” Tim said. “We booked ourselves flights and four nights’ accommodation the same day.” They are far from alone.

Katie Soo, the chief business officer of DICE, a rival ticketing company, said: “The excitement and uncertainty inherent in the ticket-purchasing process might have inadvertently incentivised fans to apply for tickets in multiple cities, thereby increasing the likelihood of travelling across Europe to attend the concerts.”

Hotel prices

Several European cities have already reported a sharp rise in demand for hotel and short-term rental accommodation over the summer, when the Swift hurricane will arrive. In Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff, rooms at the Travelodge chain around Swift’s June dates have been sold out since August 2023, a month after tickets for the shows went on sale.

In Paris, where fans anticipate Swift to debut an updated version of the Eras show with songs from the new Tortured Poets Department album, 80% of hotels and apartments listed on Booking.com are already full up. In Warsaw on 2 August, only 9% of hotels listed on the same site are still available.

Not all of the 18 cities covered by the Eras tour are obvious tourism destinations. From 17-19 July, Swift will play three concerts at the 65,000-capacity home ground of the football club Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen in Ruhr valley, western Germany. The city’s less-than-familiar name prompted one US chatshow host to quip that “the place might not even exist”.

Yet even in Germany’s rust belt the influx of Swift fans is temporarily transforming the hotel market: any two-bedroom apartments that remain available are going for €800-2,000 a night, with cheaper accommodation available only in surrounding cities that are just as off the usual tourist track as Gelsenkirchen, such as Essen, Bochum or Herne.

Cities with stricter rules on allowing Airbnb-style holiday lets and a more limited stock of short-term rental apartments are reporting a particularly marked increase in rates during Swift’s visit, with about 30% year-on-year spikes in rental rates in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Milan, according to AirDNA, a data analytics company specialising in the short-term rentals market.

Of all the tour’s European stops, Vienna is experiencing the most notable impact on its rental market, with booking rates for the nights of Swift’s concerts recorded in February 44% higher than at the same point the previous year. By the end of March the number of nights booked in the Austrian capital for the length of Swift’s stay in the second week of August had risen by 430% compared with the same period in 2023.

When Luke Tilden’s wife, Tatjana, suggested last summer that the couple buy their 13- and 15-year-old daughters, Lena and Maya, tickets to a Taylor Swift gig for Christmas, the 53-year-old Briton initially waved it off. “There’s no chance in hell we’d get a ticket without paying through our noses, I thought,” said Tilden, who works as an interpreter at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

But after pre-registering for tickets in London, Paris and Munich, the Tildens got unexpectedly lucky for four tickets in southern Germany and have turned the concert visit into a mini-holiday: “We’ll visit the in-laws in Bavaria, enjoy the countryside, do a bit of hiking.”

The hope in cities across Europe is that this will be replicated on a massive scale, with fans’ excitement translating into generous spending sprees on food, shopping and leisure. In Stockholm, for example, where authorities are expecting 159,000 visitors to arrive from 135 countries in mid-May, the chamber of commerce has forecast a spending boost of €50m. “We hope the whole town will buzz from the Eras tour,” said Tomas Andersson, a spokesperson for the Swedish capital’s tourism board.

Whether fans will necessarily act like ordinary tourists, however, is up for debate. “Pop-culture tourists do not necessarily care about traditional buildings and authentic restaurants,” said Maria Lexhagen, a professor at the European Tourism Research Institute, Mid Sweden University.

“Joining up with other fan communities is stronger motivation, as is the idea that they might get closer to the stars themselves. Many of them will map out where Swift is spending her time in the city – they will seek out seemingly marginal but meaningful places like back alleys or coffee shops.” Venues may be hoping for a repeat of Sydney in February, when Swift swept into an unassuming Italian restaurant in the suburbs and sent its name into global media headlines.

A view of the exterior of Pellegrino 2000 in Sydney

In Stockholm the tourism board said it was expecting bookshops and secondhand clothes stores, rather than museums and royal palaces, to attract most of the arriving visitors. Some venues are being proactive: one restaurant within walking distance of the multipurpose Friends Arena in the Solna municipality is putting on a “Taylor Swift brunch experience” with a karaoke stage; the waterfront nightclub Debaser is hosting a pre-concert party on 16 May, an all-ages all-day party with a Swift-themed quiz on 19 May and an afterparty the day after.

Environment

As the Swift circus rolls across the continent, the transport infrastructure of urban centres will also be put to the test. Around the tour’s three-night stop in Dublin at the end of June, Irish Rail has announced additional late-night services to Cork and Limerick to meet an expected increase in demand. Extra tram and bus services are likely to be announced nearer the time.

Unlike rail operators, most airlines do not have capacity to charter additional flights. Due to yield management – airlines adjusting prices based on expected demand – a scramble for airborne journeys into cities that host the Eras tour is more likely to result in more expensive tickets rather than additional flights.

Officials at Lisbon airport said no additional flights had been chartered around Swift’s concerts on 24 and 25 May but that demand would probably be reflected in slightly higher load factors. A spokesperson for Amsterdam Schiphol said general aviation slots could be requested at short notice but nothing out of the ordinary had been logged so far.

Calculating the environmental impact of the tour with any certainty was difficult, experts said. “We can expect that some Swift fans will travel a long way to see one, if not several, shows across Europe”, said Stefan Gössling, a professor of tourism at Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden. “But measuring the environmental impact of these trips is extremely difficult – it would involve a lot of guesswork.”

Swift fans queue to buy a merchandise

This did not mean the carbon footprint was negligible. “Every flight taken by a person adds to demand and hence influences supply considerations,” Gössling said. “The greater the demand, the more aircrafts are in service.”

The pop star’s carbon footprint is easier to estimate. Swift owns two jets by the French manufacturer Dassault, whose journeys are trackable. During the 2023 leg of the Eras tour, Swift’s planes spent 166 hours crisscrossing the US in about 75 individual journeys, though it is possible they were used by people other than the singer.

According to data available through the open-access aviation tracker ADS-B exchange, Swift’s jets caused carbon emissions of about 2,830 tonnes of CO 2 equivalent over the course of the US Eras tour – about 1,700 times the annual contribution of an average person.

A spokesperson for Swift told US media last year that in advance of the tour’s start in March 2023, the pop star bought more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel. Carbon offset credits are tradable certificates that allow purchasers to compensate for emissions by investing in environmental projects that claim to reduce carbon emissions, though recent studies have questioned the efficacy of these schemes.

Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department is here, but it could be a logistical nightmare for the Eras Tour

A black and white photo of Swift holding up The Tortured Poets Department, and peering through the transparent vinyl

Get ready for another Taylor Swift era.

The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) is the superstar's 11th studio album and is being released around the world today.

It'll be dropping the second the clock hits midnight on the east coast of America, which will be this afternoon in Australia.

  • 2pm AEST : ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria
  • 1:30pm ACST : Northern Territory and South Australia
  • 12pm AWST : Western Australia

So far, we know the album is a whopping 16 songs (not including bonus vinyl tracks) and features multiple collaborations, including with Florence + The Machine.

We also know the first single will be Fortnight featuring Post Malone, with a music video dropping tomorrow morning as well.

Despite no singles being released in its lead up, clues point to TTPD seemingly being inspired by the five stages of grief : denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

Plus, many fans have speculated that the album title is a reference to the name of a group chat Swift's ex was part of – The Tortured Man Club.

And while The Tortured Poets Department could very well set new streaming records, it also poses a logistical nightmare for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: how do you include yet another album into a show that is over three hours long?

Below, two ABC reporters and Swifties weigh up the likelihood of how the megastar might adapt her sell-out tour when it recommences in Europe next month.

We could lose some songs from every era to make room

Jessica : This seems like the most likely course of action. To put things into perspective, the Eras Tour includes songs from nine albums, but their airtime varies wildly. Lover, Folklore and Midnights have at least six songs, while Speak Now gets just two. So this might be a chance to balance things out?

Georgie : It would make the most sense to me. I can't imagine a tour that doesn't spend at least some time on the freshest music. But, this is a unique scenario. You have an artist who is essentially doing a greatest hits tour at the age of 34 while she is still churning out new music.

If she does cut music to make room for Tortured Poets, it will be very divisive. Every fan has their favourite era. But, I think if she was to I would hope she cuts songs she has already toured. You have to remember she put out four (now five) albums since her last tour and I imagine it would make the most sense for her to give more air time to Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and TTPD.

Jessica : If you were in charge of Taylor Swift's setlist, which songs would you cull? I'd ditch The Archer from the Lover era so it ends with, well, Lover. I'd be ruthless and cut most of the songs from the Red era as nothing compares to All Too Well (10 Minute Version). But keep the Reputation portion as is! It's perfect.

What if smaller eras, like Fearless and Speak Now, got cut altogether?

Taylor Swift performs in a glittering lavender ballgown.

Jessica : I love chaos so I would not bat an eye if Taylor Swift dropped the entire Speak Now era from her tour. (But Enchanted is such a core memory for a lot of fans.) I know this might be a wild concept but there's not one song from her self-titled debut album in the Eras Tour (justice for Our Song!), so make of that what you will.

Georgie : I think this will cause a major generational divide. The beautiful part about the Eras Tour is you have fans new and old coming together. Taylor has been making music since 2009 and the Eras Tour has been a chance for people in their twenties and thirties to dress up in glitter and be teenagers again while sharing the new music with teenagers today. I'm a folklore girl through and through so I am hoping if any eras get sacrificed it's the older ones. But I can't lie, it's pretty special to belt out Love Story with thousands of other people.

Could we lose the two surprise songs for a few Tortured Poets hits?

Georgie : Controversial opinion but I would be ok with this. Although, take this as you want because I have experienced the Eras Tour. But the section is a gamble anyway. You never know what she's going to play and someone is always disappointed or their top pick is played another night. If you cut this section, no-one gets hurt. Maybe she subs it out for three best songs from TTPD?

Jessica : I missed out on tickets for the Eras Tour altogether so I was taken aback seeing fans who did score tickets complaining about which night got "better" surprise songs. You can't please everyone! I agree, this would level the playing field and take the comparison factor out of the tour… but I wonder if that uniqueness is a marketing factor as some super fans attend multiple concerts in the same city.

Sabrina and Taylor smile at each other on stage at a piano that’s decorated with painted flowers

Imagine if she just… didn't play her new album

Georgie : Don't say it or it might come true!

Jessica : I think this would be the riskiest option. Imagine the disappointment on the first night when the tour recommences in Paris on May 9. But some fans, especially in America, who witnessed the Eras Tour last year before this album was announced feel it's unfair if other countries get a different experience. But that's what happens with the passage of time!

Georgie : I see your point but you have to remember we're in an age where many people have watched the Eras Tour happen through TikTok and the cinema release. So is it really missing out when it's been inescapable for over a year? This could be a chance for the people who have waited so long for the Europe leg – who have basically watched the tour on streaming and all over TikTok – to have something unique and worth the cash.

Or she could just include the new album and make the show nearly *four hours* long?

Jessica : I think this option would please the most fans, but I genuinely don't know how she performs for hours on end each night and then travels through different time zones. Oh,  to be a billionaire with a whole team taking care of everything all the time.

Georgie : I don't see this happening. Costs would skyrocket and many stadiums have a noise curfew. That's new costumes, sets and dance routines.

Jessica : But I would eat up new costumes, sets and dance routines! A four-hour concert is outrageous, which makes me think she might very well pick this option. Time will tell.

Georgie : I'm obviously a Swiftie but when I found out about the new album and what that might mean for the tour I just felt… overwhelmed. I'm still processing the release of four albums and two Taylor's Versions in four years. And now she's putting out new music? It's simply too much! The concert is a marathon but if I did have to go to a four-hour show, I'd do it for Ms Swift.

The worst option: Swapping All Too Well (10 Minute Version) for the radio edit to save time

Jessica : Sacrilegious.

Georgie : The people would riot. Jake Gyllenhaal would be thrilled though.

Final thoughts

Jessica : With everything going on in the world, I think this is a fun problem to ponder, and an interesting one for Taylor to tackle. I wish her well in whatever form the Eras Tour takes, because fans are going to have strong opinions either way.

Georgie: I worry that Taylor needs a holiday but, as you said, she's a billionaire now so I think she'll be fine. I hope she tours future albums but I also support her having a rest. Go chill with the cats and Travis. You've danced in high heeled boots for two years.

Taylor Swift Has Bad Blood With Some Celebs (And They Didn't Get VIP Seating At Eras)

  • Taylor Swift welcomed many celebrities into her VIP tent during the Eras tour, but not everyone made the cut.
  • Celebrities like Karlie Kloss, Meghan Markle, Sydney Sweeney, and Machine Gun Kelly had box seats or even general admission tickets to Eras.
  • Taylor Swift may not have had bad blood with all the celebs who didn't make it into the VIP tent.

Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour has been one of the hottest events to get tickets to before the concerts even began. Those who are fans of the woman with a $1+ billion net worth knew how difficult it was to secure a ticket, especially with the scandal from Ticketmaster who sold the tickets for the Eras Tour , making it even harder still to get a seat.

Add in the prices that after-market ticket brokers were charging for tickets, which in some cases turned out to be fraudulent tickets for the Eras Tour , it seemed like a near-impossible feat to be one of the lucky few to see Swift live in concert.

Taylor Swift's Diet And Training For The Eras Tour Wasn't Perfect, According To A Fitness Expert

Even celebrities were not immune to issues with tickets. However, their situation was slightly different. This is because there were a select number of celebrities who were allowed in the VIP tent for the evening. Despite Taylor Swift's Eras Tour attracting many celebrities, not all of them got VIP treatment. Those who wanted to see Swift in action either had to pay for a box seat or, for some, sit among the fans.

Here are those fans whose status was not enough to warrant VIP.

Karlie Kloss Didn't Have A VIP Ticket To Eras

Karlie kloss sat in the upper portion of the stadium with fans.

Karlie Kloss and Swift met after Swift performed at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The two got along well and became fast friends.

In the months that followed after their friendship began, Kloss became part of Swift's squad, which also included Gigi Hadid , Selena Gomez , Martha Hunt, and more. Kloss even appeared in Swift's "Bad Blood" video. It looked like there was nothing that could come between the two friends.

While Kloss and Swift have never publicly spoken about their friendship, or lack of it, many speculate that it began to strain after Kloss went on a vacation with Scooter Braun at the height of the feud with Swift over purchasing her master tracks. Some fans even believe that the song, "It's Time to Go" is about Kloss.

Taylor Swift Slams Ex-Boyfriends And Fellow Celebrities In An Album That's Wonderfully Petty

If there is a rift between the two, it would make sense that Kloss would not have been invited to the VIP Tent for the Eras Tour. However, not only was Kloss not invited to the tent, she sat in the stands with fans for the three-and-a-half-hour event.

Meghan Markle Sat In Stadium Seating Instead Of A VIP Slot

Meghan markle sat in the stadium seats rather than in the vip tent.

Meghan Markle and friends attended the Eras Tour. However, they were not spotted by fans in the VIP area or even in a box seat. Instead, Markle and her friends sat among the plebian Swifties and sang along to the songs.

It is unclear what the relationship between Markle and Swift is. The duchess reached out to Swift to have her appear on Markle's now-defunct podcast , Archietypes. According to sources, Markle not only had Swift's people contacted but wrote a "handwritten letter" to the Midnights singer as well.

Kim Kardashian Bullied Online By Swifties As Fans Are Convinced Taylor Swift Disses Her In New Songs

Unfortunately, Swift's schedule would not allow her to appear on the podcast, which would have been a coup for Markle. However, it does not appear to have soured how Markle feels about Swift, given her appearance at the concert.

Sydney Sweeney Skipped The VIP Treatment, Too

Sydney sweeney sat in box seats at the eras tour.

While Sydney Sweeney and Swift may not be friends, many have compared the two and like to draw parallels to how similar Sweeney and Swift are. The most popular similarity that is commented on is how down-to-earth they both are. With the throng of celebrities who came out for the Eras Tour, it was not surprising for Sweeney to appear.

Clearly a fan of Swift's music, Sweeney posted pictures and videos from her night at the final performance at SoFi Stadium. From her box seat, Sweeney danced and sang along with friends , looking like she had an amazing time.

While she was in the VIP Tent, it did not appear to have phased Sweeney one bit, who captioned her Instagram carousel of pictures, "Had the time of my life."

Machine Gun Kelly Might Have Bought His Own Eras Tour Ticket

Machine gun kelly sat in box seats at the eras tour.

One celebrity that some were surprised to see at the Eras Tour was Machine Gun Kelly. However, this should not be that astounding, given that it appears that Swift and Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox are friendly with one another.

This was proven at the Super Bowl after party where pictures were taken of Swift, Travis Kelce, Fox, and MGK chatting and hanging out with each other. When this friendship began is unclear. But the conversation was more than just passing, proving there is some sort of history there.

It is not clear if Megan Fox attended the Eras Tour. While she was not spotted in videos or pictures fans took of Machine Gun Kelly while he attended a SoFi Stadium show, that does not mean Fox was not in attendance. However, if she was, she was enjoying the view with Machine Gun Kelly from a box seat rather than from the VIP Tent.
