Six Reasons Why Going To Gigs Alone Is The Best
So you want to go see that metalcore band you love but none of your friends like that “shouty” music? Or you REALLY want to go check out that new artist on TikTok you discovered but all your mates won’t go to a gig where they only know one song? Or worse, your group of friends cannot get themselves organized and work out which show and when to go on a tour, so you’re worried you’ll miss out on tickets. Let them be miserable and start living your best life by going to concerts by yourself. Trust us, it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do!
Going to gigs alone can be daunting. What am I going to do with myself in between sets? Are people going to think I’m weird? Why would I not want to share the experience?
Listen, we are all for sharing the experience, but sometimes it’s either missing out or going alone, and in those cases we definitely recommend going alone. Here’s a few reasons why you’ll never regret it once you build up the courage to go through with it.
1 . See artists you really REALLY want to see
Imagine the FOMO of missing your favourite band on their new tour, hearing all those new songs live, seeing everyone post about it. Don’t let that happen, and get that ticket. Plus you then get to tell the pals who didn’t want to come how you saw that band or artist before they blew up or how they played that one B-side track that everyone loves – now who has FOMO?
2. Meet new friends
It’s no secret that music brings people together. That moment when everyone’s favourite ballad hits and there’s not a dry eye in the building, you turn to your left or right and suddenly you bond with a stranger over your favourite song. For the metalheads, we also recommend mosh pits, follow the rules of the pit but what a way to make new friends!
3. The freedom
Now hear us out – but going to a gig alone means you can get to the venue when you want, you can go to the loos when you want, you can stand in line at the merch for hours and no one will ask if you’re sure you want to wait. And no one will drag you home when you want to wait after the show has finished and find every piece of confetti or ask for the setlist.
4 . It’s a cult
You are not alone in going to gigs by yourself, you’d probably be surprised by how many people do the same thing. Some fan groups even have entire sub cultures of going to gigs alone (shoutout to Frank Turner’s solo armada, we see you!) – bringing us back to reason #2, new friends.
5. Confidence boost
Going to a gig by yourself will do wonders for your confidence. Sure the first time might feel a bit awkward and weird, but isn’t it always? Remember your first day of school? And then it was kind of okay after a while (let’s ignore our teenage years…) Once you’ve done it and experience all of the divinity of a solo gig you’ll feel free as a bird.
6. Experience the music your way
Whether you love hanging out by the bar, need to be front row, prefer seats or want to leave a bit earlier to catch the last train – the world is your oyster! The experience is yours, you don’t need to coordinate with someone else, rely on them to enjoy the show as much as you are and have as much of a good time as you are. And frankly, if you took a chance on a new genre or new artist and it isn’t your vibe, you can just go home. Glorious.
So there you have it – doesn’t sound too bad now does it?! At the end of the day it all comes down to you and your artist, a concert will always be a shared experience whether with strangers or friends. The most important thing to do is have fun.
Your next gig awaits
It all starts here.
Create memories to last a lifetime
Whether it’s your favourite band, an evening with friends, discovering new artists or the seventh show on the tour, we are your go-to home for all things live music.
Don’t miss out on the biggest announcement and keep checking back for latest news and last chance tickets.

‘Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man’: Bob Seger’s Debut Hit
Clapton was most recently seen at the Royal Albert Hall in May, when he performed at a pair of shows held to pay tribute to fellow guitar legend Jeff Beck, who died in January . Clapton, who organized the show alongside Beck’s widow Sandra, was joined onstage by Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Billy Gibbons, Johnny Depp, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Joss Stone, Imelda May, John McLaughlin, Gary Clarke Jr., Doyle Bramhall and Robert Randolph.
Back in March, Clapton also announced a new set of North American shows to take place in September . The guitar giant will be supported on the shows by respected blues and R&B mainstay Jimmie Vaughan, a frequent companion on recent itineraries.
A few weeks later, Clapton then unveiled the stellar bill for the seventh edition of his Crossroads Guitar Festival , which will include Sheryl Crow , ZZ Top, Santana, Vince Gill , Robbie Robertson, Stephen Stills, and Buddy Guy among others. The event will take place on September 23 and 24 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
As is customary, the event will raise funds for Crossroads Centre, the substance abuse rehab center that Clapton co-founded in 1998 in Antigua. Since its inception in 1999, at Madison Square Garden in New York, the Crossroads Festival has taken place on average every 3-5 years, most recently in 2019, at the American Airlines Center in Denver.

The most-charted British female solo act of the 1980s announces huge UK tour
Share this with
An iconic 80s pop singer has thrilled fans with the announcement of a colossal UK tour next year.
Scheduled for 2025, Kim Wilde will be performing ten dates in Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Cambridge, London, Liverpool, Sheffield, York, Glasgow, and Nottingham between 14 and 25 March 2025.
The shows promise to be spectacular events, showcasing Wilde’s timeless hits and much-anticipated new music, along with support from 80s band Cutting Crew.
Known for classics like Kids in America, Wilde’s career has left an indelible mark on the industry. Between 1981 and 1996, she had an impressive 25 singles charting within the Top 50 of the UK Singles Chart.
Her chart-topping success includes hits like Chequered Love and You Came, solidifying her status as the most-charted British female solo act of the 1980s.
Accompanying Wilde will be the legendary eighties rock band Cutting Crew, who are best known for their 1986 hit (I Just) Died in Your Arms, promising a night filled with 80s glam.
Dubbed the Closer Tour, the shows will feature Wilde and her band delivering renditions from her celebrated Close album, along with tracks from her upcoming Closer album, as well as other beloved classics from her extensive repertoire.
Fans can expect to feel nostalgic to hits like Never Trust a Stranger and the reworked version of the Supremes’ song You Keep Me Hangin’ On, which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1987.
Beyond her musical prowess, Wilde has carved a name for herself in the world of horticulture. Amidst her musical career, she pursued a passion for landscaping, earning her recognition at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show.
She’s also contributed to popular gardening programs like Channel 4’s Better Gardens and the BBC’s Garden Invaders.
After taking some time off after her heyday in the 80s, Wilde was inspired to return to music by an unexpected source .
In 2018 she went on Loose Women and explained that an extraterrestrial encounter prompted her return to the stage.
She said: ‘It was in 2009 and I was in my garden with my husband and a girlfriend of mine.
‘We saw some helicopters and a bright light come towards us from the South West. We looked of course, expecting to see they were after someone.
‘That didn’t happen, the helicopters left. I think they were scrambling to try and find what this thing was.’
When asked if anyone believed her story, she laughed: ‘Everyone thought I’d been on the pinot grigio…’
The singer went on: ‘The light remained behind a cloud in the sky, we went to investigate.
‘I’m looking up and I’m seeing this thing and all of a sudden it moves from 11 o’clock to 2 o’clock… Then a smaller one joined it.’
‘It has really inspired me a lot,’ she said. ‘I really believe what I saw was a UFO. It wasn’t of this planet.’
Tickets for the highly anticipated tour will be available for purchase starting Friday, April 26 at 10 am.

Artists touring Down Under in 2024 include Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Hozier, Laufey, aespa, IVE and more
Fresh out of a pandemic, Australia’s 2023 touring calendar was one of the busiest in recent memory, as artists of all stripes took centrestage everywhere from stadium shows to intimate local gigs. With a starry schedule that included the likes of Post Malone , Red Hot Chili Peppers , and Mötley Crüe , it’ll be tricky for 2024’s schedule to outdo its predecessor – and yet, thanks to the likes of Taylor Swift , Blink-182 and Pink , plus Coldplay, Pearl Jam and SZA, it’s poised to do just that.
From debut headline shows for breakout artists to bustling festival sideshow programs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as a stellar batch of musicians make their way Down Under in 2024. Read on for NME’s roundup of all the biggest concerts and tours coming to Australia this year.

Taylor will be accompanied by Aussie pair Josh Pyke and Ella Hooper .

Imagine Dragons’ sixth studio album LOOM represents the pinnacle of their artistic journey of self-discovery and marks the best body of work they’ve ever made. LOOM , produced entirely by Imagine Dragons and their longtime collaborators Mattman and Robin, finds the perfect balance between the classic sounds that have made them superstars and the freshness that brought them joy in the studio. Featuring 9 brand new tracks including hit single “Eyes Closed”, LOOM signifies new beginnings on the horizon – the excitement for a new day, moments yet to come.
Last year, the members of Imagine Dragons found themselves with a rare and well-deserved break from the road—perhaps their longest in many years. So, they made the most of it by devoting that time to family and friends. Catalyzed by this respite with a refreshed perspective, the band rallied together in the studio and mined the same well of inspiration that fed their most beloved material. The musicians reflected on the past in order to catapult into a future where stylistic boundaries have disappeared entirely and anything is possible creatively. This journey has brought them to their most dynamic and definitive body of work to date, LOOM .
To herald LOOM , the band recently shared their soaring new anthem entitled “Eyes Closed.” Check out the video HERE . The track illuminates their penchant for boundary-breaking. Stretching the limits of the soundscape almost to the breaking point, they harness a burst of energy with a rafter-reaching refrain primed to soar on the upcoming summer tour.
It’s the year of the Dragons …

ABOUT IMAGINE DRAGONS:
Imagine Dragons continue to redefine rock in the 21 st century. Filling stadiums, crafting cloud-rattling anthems, and breaking records at every turn, diamond-certified GRAMMY® Award-winning Las Vegas quartet Imagine Dragons occupy rarified air as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Tallying cumulative sales of 74 million album equivalents, 65 million digital songs, and over 160 billion streams, they stand out as “the only band in history to earn four RIAA Diamond singles , ” namely “Radioactive” (16x-platinum), “Believer” (13x-platinum), “Thunder” (12x-platinum) and “Demons” (11x-platinum). Since emerging in 2009, they’ve scored five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with Night Visions [2012] (7x-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Smoke+Mirrors [2015] (platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Evolve [2017] (triple-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Origins [2018] (platinum)(KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), and Mercury – Act 1 [2021]( KIDinaKORNER/Interscope). With the release of Mercury – Act 2 (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope) in 2022, they completed their first double-album opus produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. The hit single “Bones,” featured on Mercury Act 2, went to number one at Alternative Radio and remains in the Global Top 50 on Spotify. The band’s hit collaboration with East Atlanta-based rapper J.I.D, “Enemy,” has racked up billions of global streams and landed at #6 on the IFPI Global Singles Chart for 2022. Dominating radio, they remain one of only four bands to ever achieve consecutive Top 5 singles at Alternative radio, and the only band to repeat this feat. Most recently, Imagine Dragons made history on Spotify, as “Bad Liar” became their 10th song to surpass 1 billion streams. The band now holds the crown for the group with most billion-plus streamed songs, becoming the first in the platform’s history to have ten songs reach this milestone. Meanwhile, Imagine Dragons’ music videos for hits “Thunder” and “Believer” have garnered an astounding 2 billion YouTube views, while videos for “Radioactive” and “Demons” have surpassed over 1 billion views. They’ve collaborated with everyone from Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, and Wiz Khalifa to Avicii and film composer Hans Zimmer. Giving back, they’ve raised millions for various causes, including their pediatric cancer charity the Tyler Robinson Foundation, and frontman Dan Reynolds’ LOVELOUD Foundation and festival in support of LGBTQ+ youth.
