Seeing 3teeth for the first time 12/29/23 at the The Teragram Ballroom ,know how to put on an incredible show. Can’t wait to see him again soon was not a disappointment at all a mush watch

Outstanding

This was the fourth time that I’ve seen 3Teeth in concert and while the previous shows were great this one was by far the best. The lighting and sound was superb and of course 3Teeth’s performance was absolutely phenomenal. They put on an incredible show and I can’t wait for the next chance to see them!

Best band everrrrr

Such great band to see live. They were amazing and had great energy

Great show from beginning to end, 3teeth knows how to put on a show, great set list, great lights, great venue

There are few words to summarize

Teragram is a great venue and the show was 💯 Security could have been a lil more chill & allowed obvious patrons in and out but being in L.A. you kinda get it. 10/10 would go again.

Great venue!

Spacious, cafe and bar available, easily accessible restrooms.

''

Nice venue, amazing band only thing the bartender charge me twice for my drink and had to call my bank to report the extra charge:( so be careful when you are paying.

Amazing show!!!!!

First the venue, Teregram Ballroom is a nice sized venue in Downtown Los Angeles. I prefer coming here for a show then any of the venues in Hollywood mostly because of the traffic. Los Angeles traffic sucks but its way better than Hollywood traffic. As for the performances; all three acts were on par. I was especially impressed with Author&Punisher. Solo act and he makes all his own musical equipment. Very unique and very good. Lana Del Rabies was another solo performer and she had this wild kind of energy you could almost feel during her performance. As for 3teeth, they put on the kind of energetic and entertaining show that makes me want to see them again and again. I was a little disappointed that they didn't play two of my favorite songs but I'll still be back.

Most amazing niht

I was in the very front row and the stage was right next to me. The band was so interactive and at the end of the show i ended up with a guitar pick. Best night of my life.

Loved the music, stage presence and overall experience. First time seeing them and will absolutely do it again! Badass band!

Too short. They played for more or less exactly 1h. I know, the ticket price was very low but I really would pay the double price (or more) per ticket to experience a "full" 3TEETH concert.

The band itself was awesome. Unfortunately they played in the smallest location (which has not the best acoustics) in Backstage but as it was their 1st time here I can understand that.

I hope they come again soon (I'll definitely will be there). Next time maybe in a bigger area here.

Band was absolutely amazing. Would definitely see them again. Only problem wasn't to do with the band it was the crowd. Crowd was very dead and weren't participating very much. Pig were a decent opener but the crowd was completely dead for them. Would of liked some mospitting but otherwise 3TEETH are a excellent concert experience and props to Lex for being a great frontman and doing photos afterwards.

HOLY SHIT! That sums up the amount of I tensity that one would wish to consume from a band of their caliber. I want more and in quicker increments (less than a year in between would be nice). They are part Freddy Mercury and part Soft Cell in appearance, but they are in a league of their own in terms of talent and energy

jeff-pearson’s profile image

Liked the name, really liked the music, loved the show!

They began nice and fast, then slowed it down a little before quickening it up at the end. The atmosphere was really dark and edgy. Sadly, although the crowd wanted more, they had run out of music. But they promised to be back next year. I know I'll be there.

Awesome show! Venue was small and intimate. This was my 2nd time seeing them and I had a blast. These guys are truly amazing! Looking forward to what the future holds for them.

3TEETH announce new album EndEx

3TEETH have announced their new album EndEx.

Fours years on from 2019’s Metawar, the band will be releasing EndEx on September 22 via Century Media, and they’re giving fans more of a taste of what to expect with new tune Scorpion…

Says vocalist Alexis Mincolla: “The scorpion symbolises the challenge to confront and integrate those parts of ourselves that we repress, ignore, or fear. It invites a descent into the depths of the personal and collective unconscious. Its venom is the entropic catalyst for the dissolution of old, rigid structures of the psyche, making room for rebirth. To acknowledge and embrace the scorpion is to accept the necessity of change.”

Check it out below:

See the full EndEx tracklist:

1. Xenogenesis 2. Acme Death Machine 3. Slum Planet 4. What's Left 5. Merchant of the Void 6. Higher Than Death 7. ALI3N 8. Plutonomicon 9. Paralyze (feat. Ho99o9) 10. Scorpion 11. Drift 12. Everybody Wants To Rule The World

3TEETH's Metawar: The ultimate track-by-track guide in the band's own words

3Teeth frontman Alexis "Lex" Mincola talks us through the band's new album Metawar

3teeth tour 2022

The Tool -approved industrial metallers 3TEETH dropped brand new album Metawar on July 5. The band's highly anticipated third studio album features the explosive singles President X and Exxxit and aims to confront the "rotting underbelly and impure motivations of the corporate mainstream".

Produced by Sean Beavan, who has also lent his expertise to the likes of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson , 3TEETH's new record continues their upward trajectory towards industrial royalty. It's lyrics might be a red pill, but it's swallowed like a blue.

Frontman, Alexis "Lex" Mincolla is a highly creative visionary who holds two science degrees and expresses a deep fondness and knowledge of numerology, theology, sociology and history – all of which feed into his politically charged lyrics.

We caught up with Lex hot off 3TEETH's tour with Ministry to delve into the inner workings of his cyber punk machine's newest output.

Hyperstition

"A coincidence intensifying infoxotin that serves as a catalytic accelerant introduction to the METAWAR itself."

"It's the all-consuming epidemic of our time. It's a socially transmitted disease that infects via the prosthetic digital nervous system when exposed to the conspicuous consumption based infotoxins emitted from Kim Kardashian's ass."

"The work hinges on a conceptual ultimatum that confronts consumers in the face of deteriorating quality of goods, states or institutions. You essentially gave one of three choices. You can EXIT (withdraw from the relationship).

"You can VOICE (attempt to repair or improve the relationship through communication of the complaint, grievance or proposal for change) or there is LOYALTY (which is essentially remaining loyal to said deterioration)."

American Landfill

"Welcome to the  memetic concentration camp of throw away culture piled up high with decomposing ideologies ready to be processed into the memory whole. This is the big data dump of perception management systems incorporated."

President X

"President X is about an arbitrary figure head that will continue to be replaced, repositioned and repackaged to maintain an illusion of choice and difference in a system that operates on auto-pilot.

"As the administration pendulum swings back and forth in our bi-partisan shit show, you basically get a new leader who comes in with the goal of undoing what the last guy did, continuing this cycle of futility.

"It’s like one of those TV shows that just keeps going on season after season, walking you in circles by throwing in new hackneyed characters and the same trite notions of conflict but in reality the story has no arc and no resolution and by the time the season finale comes, oh and it will come, you’re going to look back on it go holy fuck I want my money back… and no I’m not talking metaphorical money, I’m talking about your actual tax dollars that funded a hot trash show.

"I believe there was a fine scholar by the name of Frank Zappa who once said ‘Government is the Entertainment division of the military-industrial complex."

Altær

"Standing upon the fulcrum of our own extinction at the altar of change we we attempt to alter our DNA in a sort of failed promethean jail break from our own alien planet. Nothing will change until its too late."

"No one escapes Saturn's reach as our self imposed time prisons provide nothing but empty finish lines. We find nothing but grief in the shadows of our progress as Moloch merely shovels babies into the fire of productivity while Mammon hooks them on the dead heroin of envy."

"A mantric attempt at breaking the bonds of geotyranny. Fettered to our own lines in the sands we must declare that the map is not the territory and the menu is not the meal. Remain formless like water."

"Waking up at rock bottom and absolving yourself of an institutional identity injection. The retrospection of a solider disenchanted with his original sense of purpose or the realization that incentives drive ideology. If you don't develop a sense of self, a self will be issued and used to the advantage of said institution."

Sell Your Face 2.0

"Today's exchange rate for meta data is a a micro dose of dopamine and we couldn't care less.  Convenience is king and co-dependency is standard. Its easier to imagine the end of the world than a future without our mobile devices, but you better buckle up because the next 10 years are going to wild. See you in the algorithm."

"Hell manufacturing is the name of the game is business is great. As the walls close those bottom line numbers continue to skyrocket until one day there is no more sky."

"Embracing the demise and leaning into the end as a way of inviting the renewal. The majesty of decay of a dying star and the ephemeral glow of a fallen empire will be a truly beautiful twilight of an aeon."

Pumped Up Kicks

"Nothing says levity like pop songs and school shooting here in America and we figured after a punishing record we'd send you off with a little bit of a reminder of the starting point. Like a nice book end to bring you back to square one for a little sardonic comic relief."

Earlier this month, MINISTRY leader Al Jourgensen confirmed to Metal Edge that he has already commenced work on the follow-up to "Moral Hygiene" , which was released last October via Nuclear Blast Records . "We have eight songs recorded right now, and even my engineer went, 'This is total arena rock, dude,'" he said. "And I really feel like after that one, we have one more in us, which would be our 19th album. I don't think I'm gonna hit 20, but I'm pretty certain we're gonna have 19 by the time we're done. So we'll see. I mean, who knows, man? The world is just in such a state of fucking flux. You don't know what's gonna happen next fucking week. But this new record, it's fun stuff."

Asked if he was into any arena rock or hair metal stuff back in the 1980s, Al said: "No, not at all. I didn't know any of... to this day, outside of 'Girls, Girls, Girls' or something, I couldn't even name you a MÖTLEY CRÜE song. That's not something that I would listen to. I'm sure it's really great and all that, but when I say arena rock, I don't mean that this album's going to be a hair-band fucking album. I mean, it's MINISTRY , right? I'm just saying that the chord progressions and the sound of it is just much more… we don't go off on eclectic tangents as much. These are hard-hitting beats that are in your face, and that you could visualize 20,000 people knowing the lyrics to the songs and chanting along. So the music lends itself more towards a larger stadium atmosphere."

MINISTRY 's "Industrial Strength" U.S. tour kicked off on March 2. In addition to Jourgensen , MINISTRY 's touring lineup includes drummer Roy Mayorga , guitarists Cesar Soto and Monte Pittman , bassist Paul D'Amour and keyboardist John Bechdel . Due to overwhelming demand, MINISTRY added 13 new dates with the tour now running through April 18.

"Moral Hygiene" is MINISTRY 's 15th studio album and added to many "best of 2021" year-end lists, including Loudwire , Consequence Of Sound , Punk News and XS Rock (where it was ranked the No. 1 album of the year). It features some of the project's strongest and most inspired material to date, the creative masterwork of founder and creator Jourgensen who spent the pandemic pause ruminating on the new world we as a society have found ourselves in — while pondering just what we are going to do about it.

The 10 tracks are a follow-up to 2018's lauded "AmeriKKKant" and put forth Jourgensen 's societal manifesto and plea for civilization to get back to a set of standards that lives up to and embraces our humanity. Singles have included "Alert Level" (sounding the alarm on the state society is in), "Good Trouble" (a rallying cry to fight for human rights in homage to civil rights leader John Lewis ), "Disinformation" (the dangers of consuming mass media without critical thinking) and "Search And Destroy" (the unique take on THE STOOGES classic). The latter features guitar virtuoso Billy Morrison ( Billy Idol , ROYAL MACHINES ) who is also heavily featured on a number of songs on the album.

3teeth tour 2022

The wait is over for  EndEx . 3TEETH ’s brand-new album – their first in four years – is now out via Century Media Records.

To celebrate the album’s release,  3TEETH  is also sharing the final single and accompanying video from the album, a cover of Tears For Fears’  ‘Everybody Wants To Rule the World.

Watch  Here  | Stream/Save  Here

The reworked take continues  3TEETH ’s penchant for aggressive reworks of pop songs, previously seen on Foster the People’s ‘ Pumped Up Kicks ‘ and Dead or Alive’s ‘ You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) .’

Says frontman Alexis Mincolla of the track,

“Listening to it, I felt the weight of the world and the wild-eyed frenzy of the human condition – the never-ending chase, the insatiable hunger.

And in that moment, cruising down the highway, surrounded by the vastness of the desert, I realized: We’re all just careening towards our own versions of world domination, fueled by dreams and delusions.”

Watch the video for  ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’  below.

EndEx   showcases the modern industrial act at their most raucous yet, unveiling bold revelations of humanity’s technosocial disintegration behind a brutal soundtrack that sounds all the alarms. It’s the band’s first album since 2019’s  Metawar , which  Consequence  recently named as one of the Top 50 Industrial Albums of All Time, hailing  3TEETH  as “one of the modern bands keeping industrial alive.”

EndEx  features the handiwork of a solid extended team including the accomplished sound designer Mick Gordon (best known for his work on the gaming phenomenon DOOM) who produced several of the tracks, along with producer Nick Rowe and mixer Sean Beavan (NIN), bringing in another dimension to the band’s unmistakable sound.

Early singles have included noisemaker ‘ Paralyze’  (featuring Ho99o9),  ‘Merchant of the Void,’ ‘Slum Planet,’  and  ‘Scorpion.’  The tracks have been hailed as some the “best new songs” by  Metal Hammer  and  Revolver . While  Metal Hammer  states the new  3TEETH  material “traces lineage in both Al Jourgensen and Trent Reznor,”  Revolver  hails the new music as “utterly gigantic and over-the-top in the best way possible” and applauds the return of  3TEETH  in 2023 at a time “when we needed their apocalyptic, incendiary industrial-metal most.”

EndEx  is available in CD, Gatefold LP, and digital album formats. Special formats include:

  • Red LP (available at all EU outlets)
  • Red Smoke LP (available at all US outlets)
  • Ultra-Clear / Red Splatter LP (available from 3TEETH)

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

{{tournament.sponsortitle}}, player results, nadal downs de minaur for statement madrid win.

Rafael Nadal showed sustained flashes of his vintage best in a statement second-round win against Alex de Minaur at the Mutua Madrid Open on Saturday. The Spaniard thrilled his home fans in a 7-6(6), 6-3 victory, his first win against a Top 20 opponent in the PIF ATP Rankings since the 2022 Nitto ATP Finals .

In his second Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting with De Minaur in as many weeks, Nadal reversed a straight-sets defeat in Barcelona with an inspired performance at the Caja Magica. The five-time Madrid champion produced a dogged display full of thumping baseline winners and trademark fist pumps, repeatedly wowing a crowd that included King Felipe VI and football stars Zinedine Zidane and Vinicius Jr.

While Nadal was quick to deny that the old Rafa is back, he was happy to advance on home soil.

"No, not yet. It needs time," he said with a laugh. "I think for moments it has been a good level of tennis. I was able to do positive things, but still on and off. "I'm super happy to be able to be competitive against a great player like Alex, play over two hours. It means a lot to me and the atmosphere here is just a joke, so I can't thank enough everybody here."

Roaring back the years 💪 5-time champion @RafaelNadal rolls on in the Spanish capital 7-6(6), 6-3 past de Minaur @MutuaMadridOpen | #MMOPEN pic.twitter.com/M7Crcz8u12 — ATP Tour (@atptour) April 27, 2024

Nadal followed a breathtaking 77-minute opening set with an instant break in the second set and did not face a break point in seeing out the victory. After a slew of hot shots dotted the opening set, Nadal was more steady in the second until he brought up match points with a stunning backhand passing shot. His place in the Madrid third round was secured on a De Minaur double fault, his third of the match according to Infosys ATP Stats.

After competing for more than two hours in the victory, and despite his improving level on the court, Nadal cautioned that his physical health remains his biggest concern.

"I really believe that tennis hasn't been an issue for the last two years. More the physical issues," he said. "If I am able to play weeks in a row and if I am able to play tennis, then I'm going to see how far I can go and how competitive I could be. But that's not the case yet, just step by step and let's see how I recover."

By recording consecutive ATP Masters 1000 wins for the first time since the 2022 Madrid event, Nadal denied De Minaur's bid to become the second player to defeat him in consecutive weeks since Novak Djokovic in 2011 (Madrid, Rome). Similarly, the Aussie was bidding to become the first player to beat Nadal in consecutive tournaments since Roger Federer in 2017 (Indian Wells, Miami). De Minaur fell to 11-3 in his opening rounds on clay since the start of the 2022 season.

Next up for Nadal is a third-round meeting with Argentina's Pedro Cachin , who upset Frances Tiafoe 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-4 earlier on Saturday.

In a new interview, the Canadian singer discusses her health and says if she’ll return to touring.

Celine Dion Makes Surprise Appearance At The Grammys Amid Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis

She continued, “Five days a week I undergo athletic, physical and vocal therapy. I work on my toes, my knees, my calves, my fingers, my singing, my voice… I have to learn to live with it now and stop questioning myself. At the beginning I would ask myself: why me? How did this happen? What have I done? Is this my fault?”

Dion says she doesn’t have the answers as to why she got this illness and she only has two options, “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself. I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!”

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer says that it’s her family, children, and fans that keep her strong and is grateful she has the means to have good doctors and treatments, adding, “I have this strength within me. I know that nothing is going to stop me.”

Since being diagnosed with SPS, Dion has been largely kept out of the public eye. In February of this year, she made a surprise appearance at the Grammys and presented an award to Taylor Swift .

When asked about getting back on stage and touring again, Dion said, “I can’t answer that… Because for four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready… As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months’ [I will return]. I don’t know… My body will tell me.”

The Harry Potter tour in Leavesden is a big money spinner for Warner Bros.

Britain's Harry Potter movie tour has generated more than $1 billion of revenue since it opened 12 years ago according to its latest financial statements which show that sales doubled to a record $184.4 million (£149.1 million) in 2022 as the end of pandemic restrictions cast a powerful spell on the attraction.

The tour is set inside two cream-coloured cavernous soundstages at Leavesden Studios on the outskirts of London. Owned by media giant Warner Bros. Discovery WBD , Leavesden was originally an aircraft factory before it was converted into a movie studio in 1994 so that James Bond flick GoldenEye could film there.

Warner bought Leavesden in 2010 making it the first studio to have a permanent European base since Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1940s. Leavesden re-opened in 2012 after Warner invested more than $123.7 million (£100 million) in the site. Since then it has been home to well over 50 productions including all eight Potter films, the three Fantastic Beasts spin-offs and last year's highest-grossing movie, Barbie .

The studio generates 39.7% of Leavesden's total revenue which rose by $87.5 million (£70.7 million) to a record $305.8 million (£247.2 million) in the year to 31 December 2022 as we revealed in Britain's Sunday Times newspaper. The increase was entirely driven by the tour as studio revenue dipped 2.9% to $121.3 million (£98.1 million).

Revenue is increasing at Warner Bros' Leavesden studios

Samsung Is Giving Away A Free Galaxy S24 In A New Promotion

Google makes a new sale offer to pixel 8 buyers, biden could be 1st president since carter to not negotiate sign fta.

Over the past few years soaring inflation and the cost of living crisis has caused consumers to cut streaming subscriptions leading to studios scaling back the number of shows in production.

It didn't stop there as Leavesden faced the challenge of strikes in Hollywood when actors and writers downed their tools for more than six months last year in a bid to boost the royalties they receive. Warner is still counting the cost of this and on February 23 announced that revenue for the fourth quarter of 2023 was down 7% to $10.2 billion partly driven by strike-induced production delays. On the day of the announcement its shares closed 10% down at $8.61, almost the lowest price since the group was created by the merger of AT&T’s T WarnerMedia and Discovery Inc in April 2022.

The impact is being felt far beyond the studios as special effects firm Framestore, which created the spellbinding visuals in the Potter movies, said it expects margins "to be impacted" by the strikes in 2023.

In contrast, the tour behind the scenes of the Potter movies has been a dream ticket for Warner. Leavesden's net profit more than doubled last year to $87.8 million (£71 million) which was largely driven by the tour given that the studio's revenue reversed. Since 2012 Leavesden has generated total net profits of $589.6 million (£476.7 million) and paid $289.4 million (£234 million) of dividends to Warner.

Since it opened 12 years ago more than 18 million people have streamed through the tour's turnstiles generating a total of $1.2 billion (£935.8 million) of revenue – 67.5% more than the studio has made.

The tour is filled with props and sets from the movies with the latest addition being Professor Sprout's Greenhouse which opened in summer 2022. From the outside, the giant greenhouse appears to be in the grip of a giant vine which covers the walls inside. Its tendrils spread into flower boxes where plants seem to sprout from them. Visitors can uproot them to reveal a squealing shrub as Harry and his chums did in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets .

As we recently revealed , the tour has been so successful that Warner has invested more than $115 million in its first overseas outpost which opened in Tokyo last year and is 50% bigger than its British counterpart.

Leavesden operates the Japanese facility as well as the wildly popular chain of Potter shops and the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage show which premiered in London in 2016 to critical acclaim. Since then it has expanded to five other countries and is still growing as the financial statements reveal that "in 2022 the company invested in another production of the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ."

The company also produces the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage show (Photo by Sam ... [+] Tabone/WireImage)

Despite the logjam in Hollywood, Leavesden too is expanding. Last year it announced plans to build 11 new sound stages which will increase production capacity by more than 50% and will create 4,000 direct and indirect jobs. It is expanding to stay in the game in the face of increasing competition.

Britain has become a popular location for filming thanks to its generous fiscal benefits which give studios a reimbursement of up to 25.5% of the amount they spend in the country. It explains why Shepperton Studios, just outside London, is planning a 1.2 million square feet expansion which will make it the world's second-biggest studio.

Likewise, nearby Pinewood plans to spend $1.6 billion (£1.3 billion) on new facilities including a studio tour which will put it in even more direct competition with Leavesden. Over the past 80 years Pinewood has been home to everything from the Pink Panther and Paddington to Superman and Star Wars so it may take more than the wave of a magic wand to beat.

Share All sharing options for: Billy Horschel wins PGA Tour event amid historic finish, but there’s a catch

Corales Puntacana Championship - Final Round

Eleven months ago, after the first round of the Memorial Tournament, Billy Horschel stood in front of the media and fought back tears as he talked about his lack of confidence.

He had just fired a 12-over 84, which served as a metaphor for his struggles throughout the 2023 season. Horschel missed 10 cuts a year ago, which led to him missing out on the FedEx Cup Playoffs .

As such, Horschel did not meet the qualification requirements to play in this week’s RBC Heritage —the fifth Signature Event of the 2024 season . But he still wanted to play, knowing that his game was trending in the right direction.

So, he teed it up at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic, an opposite full-field event.

The decision paid off.

Corales Puntacana Championship

Horschel began the final round three strokes behind Wesley Bryan, but he stormed past him and all the others to win by two. The former Florida Gator signed for a 9-under 63, which tied the course record, to win for the first time on the PGA Tour since the 2022 Memorial.

“This game of golf is so fickle. I think you can put a lot into it and get everything you want out of it,” Horschel said after his win on Sunday.

“But I knew in my 14 years, 13 years previously on the PGA Tour, that I had the ability, I had the talent. I just needed to continue to work hard, do the right things, and continue to believe that good stuff was going to come to the forefront at some point in time.”

Even though his victory did not come against the likes of Scottie Scheffler , Wyndham Clark , Rory McIlroy, or any other elite PGA Tour players, Horschel still holds this win—and other opposite field events—in high regard.

“The PGA Tour has a lot of tournaments, and it’s tough for every tournament to get its due. Opposite-field events have been crucial for many players coming up the ranks,” Horschel explained.

“Look at Tony Finau, Viktor Hovland winning in Puerto Rico, Matt Wallace won this. So listen, it’s another opportunity to play, it’s another opportunity to become a better player, to get that win on the PGA Tour. These events are crucial to the PGA Tour in the sense of the growth of the development of the players on the PGA Tour.”

Horschel’s victory in the Dominican Republic vaults him from 76th to 45th in the FedEx Cup rankings. The top 70 players earn entry into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, so yes, this win carries significant weight.

But Horschel would not have been able to finish the job without his strong psyche and ability to handle pressure down the stretch.

“I don’t like talking about myself but growing up, I always wanted the ball when I was a pitcher; I always wanted to be the guy at battle trying to drive in the winning run; I always wanted to have it on me,” Horschel explained.

“I think growing up and having that mentality, I have grown into Ioving being in the lead. I love having that spotlight on me; I love having everything on me, knowing that if I mess up, it’s my fault, and I am the one who can control my destiny. I’ve always been really good up near the lead, and today, I showed that a little bit.”

Horschel made five birdies on the front nine to soar toward the top of the leaderboard at the midway point of his round. True to himself, he did not fold down the stretch, but rather, he thrived. His eagle at the par-5 12th gave him a two-shot lead with six holes to play, and he never relinquished it.

2024 Zurich Classic leaderboard, scores: Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry among leaders after Round 1

Mcilroy and lowry headline a crowded leaderboard as the competition moves to foursomes for friday.

rory-mcilroy-shane-lowry-round-1-2024-zurich-classic-g.jpg

There aren't many firsts left for Rory McIlroy to achieve in his PGA Tour career, but he checked one off the list Thursday at TPC Louisiana. Making his debut appearance in the Zurich Classic, the 34-year-old looked like the seasoned veteran he is alongside Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry. The two fired an 11-under 61 in the four-ball format amid the windy afternoon conditions to sit with the teams of Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard, Aaron Rai and David Lipsky and Ben Kohles and Patton Kizzire atop the leaderboard after Round 1.

While this week marks McIlroy's first attempt at claiming the PGA Tour's annual team event, it also represents his 11th start of the year as he continues to play through some relative early season struggles. McIlroy had no issues in the first round as he drove the ball beautifully, struck towering iron shots and picked apart the par-72 layout in unison with Lowry.

"You know that you sort of need to get off to a good start, and thankfully we did," McIlroy said. "We were 4 under through 4, which was really nice to see, and from there you've got some momentum and you're just trying to keep it going. But for the most part today, we kept both balls in play. We were having two looks basically on every hole at birdie, and that's the way you need to play better ball. Everyone thinks it's maybe a bit more gung ho than that, but as long as you have two balls in play off the tee, two balls on the green, I think you're always going to do pretty well in this format."

The two began their days with four birdies out the gate and tacked on a couple more to turn in 6-under 30. A birdie on No. 10 was followed with a disappointing par on the par-5 11th, but that did nothing to dampen their spirits. McIlroy struck his best iron of the day into the 12th when he feathered an 8 iron against the wind and to tap-in distance.

Lowry picked him up on the very next hole with a birdie of his own to get the team to 9 under and added another on the difficult par-3 14th to get to double digits under par. With four holes remaining, the two appeared likely to overtake the clubhouse lead, but a couple middling pars to go along with one last birdie on the par-5 18th meant there will be four teams sleeping on the lead tonight before the competition transitions to foursomes on Friday.

Let's take a look around the rest of the leaderboard after the first round in Louisiana.

The leaders

T1. Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry, David Lipsky/Aaron Rai, Ryan Brehm/Mark Hubbard, Ben Kohles/Patton Kizzire (-11)

Outside McIlroy and Lowry, the top of the leaderboard is surprising, to say the least. Hubbard has notched a couple top 20s, a top five and has yet to miss a cut this season while Rai has been solid, but the rest of the lot haven't seen the weekend with much consistency. Hubbard's teammate, Brehm, has seven missed cuts in 11 starts. Rai's teammate, Lipsky, has missed eight cuts in 11 starts and is without a top 40. Kizzire has six missed cuts and a withdrawal in nine starts, and Kohles has six missed cuts and a withdrawal in 11 starts. Four-ball can hide deficiencies, but the same cannot be said for foursomes, which will be played Friday and Sunday.

"Just like usual, we ham-and-egged it," Hubbard said. "I don't think either of us were feeling amazing about our games coming into the day, but we just feed off each other really well. We relax each other out there, and best ball is just a fun format. I didn't putt great last week, but he had a lot of holes where he snuggled it up there nice and close for par and it really freed me up. You just kind of get confidence that way, and I think even you watching me make some putts gave you confidence and you poured them in at the end."

Other contenders

T5. Davis Thompson/Andrew Novak, Thomas Detry/Robert MacIntyre, Cameron Champ/MJ Daffue (-10) T8. Sam Stevens/Paul Barjon, Garrick Higgo/Ryan Fox, Luke List/Henrik Norlander, Corey Conners/Taylor Pendrith, Zac Blair/Patrick Fishburn, Marc Meissner/Austin Smotherman, Callium Tarren/David Skinns, Keith Mitchell/Joel Dahmen (-9)

Detry and MacIntyre got off to a dream start by playing their first four holes in 4 under. After hitting a lull, the two turned it on and carded six back-nine birdies to shoot 10-under 62. MacIntyre has the team experience from this past fall's Ryder Cup, while Detry has been enjoying a very solid 2024 campaign. The staying power of all these teams on this leaderboard is interesting given the volatility of foursomes, but the two Europeans should be up to the task.

I think it's about leaving each other to it," MacIntyre said regarding Friday's strategy. "We're both good players, both know what we're doing with the golf ball. It's just trusting each other. If I hit a good shot, you hit a good shot. If you hit a bad shot, don't say sorry, you're not meaning to do it. You just keep walking forward and keep trying to hit good shots and committing to them and see where we end up. Can't really do anything about it. It's difficult because you might not hit a 5-foot putt until the 17th hole. It's completely different. All you can do is try your best."

2024 Zurich Classic updated odds, picks

Odds via Sportsline consensus

  • Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry: 13/5
  • Xander Schauffele/Patrick Cantlay: 10-1
  • Aaron Rai/David Lipsky: 15-1
  • Thomas Detry/Robert MacIntyre: 16-1
  • Andrew Novak/David Thompson: 16-1
  • Nick Taylor/Adam Hadwin: 18-1
  • Corey Conners/Taylor Pendrith: 18-1
  • Joel Dahmen/Keith Mitchell: 20-1

Let's roll with the 2022 champion at 10-1. Schauffele and Cantlay burned a ton of edges on Thursday but kept themselves in it with a late flurry of birdies. They now transition to foursomes for two of the next three days where they were dominant a year ago. In 2023, the two fired a 9-under 63 in Round 2 and a 6-under 66 in Round 4 in this format. If they card something similar in the mid 60s tomorrow, they should be in business heading into the weekend.

‘A huge deal’: International superstar Diljit Dosanjh in Vancouver to launch concert tour

3teeth tour 2022

If you get Global News from Instagram or Facebook - that will be changing. Find out how you can still connect with us .

One of the world’s biggest international superstars is coming to Vancouver on Saturday for what is expected to be a record-breaking concert.

3teeth tour 2022

Diljit Dosanjh will play BC Place to kick off his global DIL-LUMINATI TOUR.

It is being touted as the largest concert ever by a Punjabi artist outside India.

The 40-year-old has been making music since 2003. He has also starred in several Punjabi films.

“It’s a huge deal,” Neesha Hothi, marketing director for the 2025 Juno Host Committee and marketing strategist for entertainment and events. told Global News.

“I mean, the fact that he’s chosen Vancouver as the first stop of the tour…is a huge deal not only for the music industry as a whole but the South Asian community. It’s quite a statement to say that B.C. is the hub for South Asian diasporic music right now.”

Dosanjh’s latest album was produced in Surrey, B.C. with Intent, a local producer.

“ There were so many other B.C.-based artists from production, writing, video, etc. there’s so many levels of it that are involved with not only (Dosanjh), but so many other artists across that South Asian music scene.”

Tickets for the show are still available through resale and range from $44.50 for a video-only seat to $8,330 for a seat directly beside the stage catwalk.

Hothi said people are coming from across North America to see Dosanjh and she said he knows that the community is going to support him and welcome him.

“This artist is so huge in our community that people are travelling,” she said.

“If it’s in Vancouver, we’re coming to Vancouver, doesn’t matter. And if you think about that, isn’t that the Taylor Swift effect? Isn’t that the Beyoncé effect? Like we’re talking about major artists who create economic impact to create travel opportunities.”

Hothi said Dosanjh is an entertaining personality, he’s fun and he loves to interact with his millions of fans on social media. He also acts in movies.

Dosanji is of Sikh origin from Punjab, India.

“The South Asian community has worked a really long time to hit this global stride,” Hothi said. “Music is such a key part of our community and culture. It’s a part of all of our celebrations. It’s also a part of our lives, like music is such a key part of every traditional moment and celebratory cultural moment. And I think it’s just so incredible to see it hit such a global swell.”

Dosanji will be playing BC Place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

3teeth tour 2022

DETROIT (AP) — The NFL draft tour has not had a stop quite like the one in Detroit .

“We watched 32 amazing players join the NFL family in front of a record 275,000 people ,” Commissioner Roger Goodell told fans who flooded downtown Detroit on Friday for a second straight day. “Guess what? Another 230,000 are already here tonight.

“So Detroit, you’re within 100,000 of breaking the all-time record.”

Nashville drew 600,000 fans over the three days of the NFL draft in 2019 to set the mark the Motor City will shoot to surpass on Saturday. Nashville had the previous first- and second-round records, drawing 200,000 fans each day.

Michigan coach Sherrone Moore, assistant coaches and players he has returning from last season’s national championship-winning team were introduced on stage by Goodell, and the crowd sang the school’s fight song before the second round kicked off.

“It’s super special to be here,” Wolverines tight end Colston Loveland said. “Detroit showed out, for sure.

“There’s lot of bodies here.”

Streets, restaurants, bars and hotels were filled for a second straight day as fans of the 32 teams gathered for a party that showed no signs of slowing down.

Larry Kordosky traveled from Arizona to attend his second NFL draft and left no doubt who his favorite team is, wearing red and blue pants with Bills logos and a Buffalo jersey under black shoulder pads.

“You couldn’t ask for a better crowd or host,” Kordosky said, standing in a rare open space in the middle of Campus Martius Park. “I had never been to Detroit. I love it. It’s an amazing city.

“I went to the draft in Las Vegas two years ago, but it was nothing like this. There are fans everywhere, especially Lions fans.”

Lions season-ticket holder Reiner Calderero of Warren, Michigan, and Christopher Guiao of Sterling Heights were in the first row up against a barricade just beyond the covered theater area where the picks were announced.

They were easy to pick out in the crowd.

The men wore the same Honolulu blue and silver masks they put on for home games at nearby Ford Field.

Guiao said the NFL draft experience exceeded his high expectations.

“All day, both days, the whole area has been packed,” he said. “Hopefully, the world sees what we see. Detroit is a beautiful city with warm people.”

In addition to the intangible benefits of showing the city in a good light for visitors and 50-plus million people watching on TVs, phones and tablets, the economic impact was expected to exceed $160 million and that’s when local organizers were expecting 400,000 fans to attend the three-day event.

More than 20 teams have inquired about hosting a future NFL draft and Green Bay will be on the clock after the seventh round concludes Saturday.

The Motor City, which was once one of the nation’s largest and most powerful cities, has bounced back from filing for bankruptcy in 2013 and has made the most of an opportunity to shine.

“A special thank you to everybody here who came from across Michigan and across the United States to help Detroit set new attendance records for the NFL draft,” Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan , joined by Hall of Famer Barry Sanders, said on stage before announcing the Lions had drafted Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the second round.

The NFL draft is giving Detroit a chance to show the world how far it has come, according to Dan Gilbert, whose real-estate company, Bedrock, was among the private and public entities to land the league’s annual event.

“The city, it’s got an energy to it,” Gilbert said in an interview with The Associated Press. “I think that’s one of the reasons we’re able to convince the NFL to do the draft out here. They could feel the energy as we took them on tours here.”
