Day 1 : Arrive New York City

Welcome to New York. Check into your hotel and then head out on your own for an afternoon of discovering New York City.

This evening, meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2 : New York / Philadelphia / Washington DC

Enjoy a fabulous city tour today. View the towering Empire State Building, vibrant Times Square and iconic Central Park.  

In Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love , visit the Liberty Bell Center.  Stroll around Independence Hall, the historic site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, before travelling on to the nation's capital, Washington, D.C. 

Day 3 : Washington DC Sightseeing & at Leisure

Today, marvel at the White House, the U.S. Capitol Building and visit the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II and Vietnam War memorials. Visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture. This is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history and culture.

Day 4 : Washington DC - Lancaster County/Amish Country

Roll back in time to explore the rural back roads of Pennsylvania's Lancaster County with a Local Expert. Learn about the traditional agricultural lifestyle of the Amish and the Mennonites, who live much the same as they did when they first settled here over 200 years ago. Arrive at your hotel, a historic preservation in the heart of Amish Country. 

Day 5 : Lancaster County / Niagara Falls

Depart Lancaster County and travel through Pennsylvania into the eastern part of New York State. En route enjoy the wonderful scenery, before you stop at the Corning Museum of Glass and marvel at the beautiful sculptures. Arrive in Canada at the mighty Niagara Falls for two nights.  

Day 6 : Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the Lake

After soaking up the panoramic views and thunderous roar of the falls, set out on an exhilarating boat ride to the base of spectacular Horseshoe Falls. Enjoy some free time to explore on your own before travelling on to the picturesque community of Niagara-on-the-Lake. This afternoon, visit a family-owned winery for an exclusive lunch and tour, taste their award-winning wines, including ice wine, a speciality to the region only produced in a few other areas of the world. 

Day 7 : Niagara Falls/Toronto

Arrive in cosmopolitan Toronto today and enjoy a tour of this vibrant city set on the shores of Lake Ontario. In your free time we'd recommend a visit to the CN Tower. There will also be a stop in Oakville, learn the art of playing Canadian hockey and if you want to don the full hockey gear, grab your stick and hit the ice!

Day 8 : Toronto / Ottawa

Set off for Kingston today where you'll have some free time for lunch and you'll adore your next stop, Ottawa, Canada's stately capital. On the city tour here you'll discover Parliament Hill; Rideau Hall, the residence of the Governor General of Canada and the beautiful downtown galleries and museums.

Days 9/10 : Ottawa /Quebec City

Begin your day with breakfast at Madohoki Farm, followed by a presentation of the Algonquin People including the Friendship dance before we travel to the only walled city north of Mexico in the Western Hemisphere - Quebec City. We will visit Old Quebec, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its cobbled streets, sidewalk cafes and classic bistros. We'll explore its winding streets with a local guide who'll tell you stories about the city's military past. Over the next two days you'll have time to explore every nook and cranny of this delightfully historic city,

Day 11 : Quebec City/Montreal

Today, enjoy a trip to a farmers market where you have lunch before we arrive at our next stop Montreal. A guide will lead you by the hand through some of Montreal's spectacular, historic attractions - the  Notre-Dame Basilica, the colourful port area and Place Jacques-Cartier, the epicentre of the old city.

Say farewell to The City On A Hill today with a final morning stroll around Boston Common before your early afternoon transfer to Boston Airport. Day 1 - Greetings From New York City

Check in to your New York hotel and spend the afternoon exploring its soaring skyline on your terms. This evening, you’ll meet your Travel Director and fellow travelers for a Welcome Reception at 6 p.m.

Day 2 - Explore the Highlights of NYC and Philadelphia

From the iconic to the unexpected, we embark on an orientation tour of the City that Never Sleeps. View the towering Art Deco façades of the Empire State Building, pulsating Times Square and the tranquil mid-city oasis of Central Park. We’ll journey through the Land of the Free to Philadelphia and visit the Liberty Bell Center to gaze upon the famous cracked bell whose inscription has inspired so many to “proclaim liberty”. View Independence Hall, site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, before traveling to Washington, D.C.

Day 3 - Immerse Yourself into Historical Washington, D.C.

Celebrate the proud heritage of a nation as you view the memorials and monuments that have made Washington famous. Pass the White House, the U.S. Capitol Building, the Lincoln Memorial, and the World War II and Vietnam War memorials. Visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture on a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience. Day 4 - Engage in the Stories of Amish Country

Day 5 - Discover the Artistry of Glassblowing

We’ll travel north across Pennsylvania’s rural landscapes to the New York State, stopping en route at the Corning Museum of Glass. Witness first-hand the delicate craft of glassblowing and admire the glass artistry on display in its galleries. Later, we’ll cross the Canadian border bound for Niagara Falls.

Day 6 - Take in the Sights and Flavors of Niagara Falls

Experience the rush of cascading waters as you embark on an exhilarating boat ride to the base of Horseshoe Falls, which plunges dramatically into Lake Ontario. Enjoy some free time to explore on your own, contemplating this tremendous force of nature. This afternoon we'll Connect With Locals at Ravine Winery and sample some of Niagara's regional cuisine paired with their delicious vintages at a Be My Guest Lunch. Upon returning to Niagara Falls enjoy the remainder of the day as you please.

Day 7 - Get Expert Hockey Tips and Tricks

Skirt the shores of Lake Ontario and stop in Oakville where you will learn the art of playing hockey like a real Canadian hockey player. Dive Into Culture and embrace Canada's national sport, learning the secrets and superstitions of hockey players as a team staff member walks you through a day in the life of a player. Go inside the players' dressing room and put on the full hockey gear. Grab your stick and it's off onto the ice where you'll soon find out whether you are a lefty or righty, and learn how to score the big goal. Head to Toronto for an introductory tour, the rest of your day is at leisure to explore the city. 

Day 8 - Explore Ottawa

Today we stop off in Kingston where you can enjoy lunch on your own before heading to Ottawa for an orientation tour of Canada's capital city. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 9 - Unlock the Traditions of Quebec City

Travel to Madohoki Farm for breakfast followed by a presentation of the Algonquin People including the Friendship dance. Our love affair with French-speaking Canada continues today as we go on our voyage to Québec City and the UNESCO-listed Old Québec. Day 10 - Wander the Historic Streets of Quebec City

Delve into Quebec City’s French and English military past at the fortified Citadel and the Plains of Abraham, the site of a major colonial battle. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore La Vieille Capitale on your terms.

Day 11 - Sample the Flavors of Montréal

Visit a local farmers market outside of Montréal to Dive Into Culture and experience the flavors of the region during a lunch tasting including wine and cider. Savor the good life as you arrive in Montréal. Meet your Local Specialist and visit Notre-Dame Basilica, the Old Port of Montréal, and Place Jacques Cartier. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 12 - Journey to Rustic Franconia Notch

Return to the United States this morning and traverse New Hampshire bound for Franconia Notch, in the heart of the White Mountains. As you journey past sugar maple and white birch in their thousands, keep a keen eye out for the black bear, moose and deer that find sanctuary in these scenic forest landscapes.

Day 13 - Engross in the History of Boston

Connect with the living history of Boston this morning, touring the city’s red brick Freedom Trail with stops at the Old North Church and Boston Harbor, the site of the famous Tea Party protest. Spend the rest of the day on your terms. Consider a visit to the bar that inspired the TV show Cheers or stroll through the centuries-old Boston Common. This evening, toast your memorable East Coast experiences at a Farewell Dinner.

Day 14 - Farewell New York

Return to New York and head to JFK International Airport, arriving at approximately 15:00, or consider extending your stay longer in New York.

How much does an escorted tour cost?

That depends on a few things. Different destinations tend to have different base prices, but tour quality weighs into the overall price as well. For a budget tour, you can estimate about $150 per day for the land portion of your trip; on a first class tour, you can expect about $200 to $300 per day, and for a deluxe tour $400+ per day is common. Escorted luxury tours are also available, but prices tend to run much higher.

Why the big changes in price?

Well, it depends on the hotel you stay in (both quality and location can affect the price), how many meals are included, and how much sightseeing is included in the price.  For example, a stay in a 4-star hotel is less than staying in a historic villa or castle.  We can help you read through the itineraries and understand these differences so you know what to expect and pick the best trip.

Because the group size is smaller, you get to spend more time with your tour guide, as well as move through popular sites more quickly, which means you will have more free time to explore.  You also participate in some activities normally not available to larger groups, like private concerts, after-hours tours, cooking classes, or wine tastings.
