The PGA Tour resumes its 2022-23 season this week in Hawaii with the Sentry Tournament of Champions, which celebrates its 25th year in Maui by featuring a lineup including 17 of the top 20 players in the World Ranking.

Along with tournament winners from 2022, this year's 39-player TOC field is made up of the top 30 from last season’s final FedEx Cup points list. This week's event also is the first of 17 "elevated" events on the PGA Tour in 2023, with prize money payouts of at least $15 million.

Reigning PGA Tour player of the year Scottie Scheffler has a chance to get his new year started in style at the Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort, as he has the opportunity to jump from World No. 2 to the No. 1 spot with a third-place finish or better .

This week also marks the return of Will Zalatoris, who has been out since withdrawing from the BMW Championship in August due to herniated discs in his back. A week before, Zalatoris had claimed his maiden PGA Tour win at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

Among the others making the trip to Maui this week are Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau and Tom Kim.

Tony Finau hosted with the First Tee Hawaii an interactive event for junior golfers ahead of this week's Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Will this year’s Sentry TOC head to a playoff? Two of the last three editions have gone to extra holes, and last year's nearly did as well when Rahm just missed an eagle try on the 72nd hole. Cameron Smith came out on top shooting a PGA Tour-record 34-under 258 total for the week.

The winner on Sunday will receive 550 FedEx Cup points and a $2.7 million first-place prize money payout from the $15 million purse.

Golf Channel will carry live coverage on Thursday and Friday from 6-10 p.m. EST. Coverage on Saturday run from 4-6 p.m. on NBC and then 6-8 p.m. on Golf Channel.

Kapalua: Plantation

From Golf Digest Architecture Editor emeritus Ron Whitten: Most golf fans are familiar with Kapalua Golf Club’s Plantation Course, home of the PGA Tour's opening event each year. Located on the north shore of the Hawaiian island of Maui, the Plantation was built from open, windswept pineapple fields on the pronounced slope of a volcano and is irrigated by sprinklers pressured solely by gravity. As the first design collaboration by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, it unveiled their joint admiration for old-style courses. The blind drive on the fourth, the cut-the-corner drives on the fifth and sixth are all based on tee shots found at National Golf Links. So, too, are its punchbowl green and strings of diagonal bunkers. It's also a massive course, built on a huge scale, Coore says, to accommodate the wind and the slope and the fact that it gets mostly resort play. So it's a big course.

But what sets it apart in my mind are the little things. When I played the course years ago with Coore, it took only one hole for me to appreciate one of its subtleties. We were on the tee of the par-3 second, an OK hole but nothing riveting, nothing like the canyon-carry par-3 eighth or the ocean-backdropped par-3 11th. The second sits on a rare flat portion of the property. The green sits at a diagonal, angling left to right, and there's a string of bunkers staggering up the right side of the green. I suppose a lot of present-day architects would not have placed that forwardmost bunker on the hole, in the interests of playability for high-handicap resort golfers. But most of the old-time architects probably would have used such carry bunkers, especially in the days before irrigation, when greens were hard as a rock and every approach shot had to be bounced aboard. Another reason why studying the history of architecture might just help your score.

The 2022-23 PGA Tour schedule resumes this week in Paradise for the Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.

Some of golf’s top players who won at least one event last year are on hand for the event, including the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler , who won four times last season.

One new feature to this year’s field is that in addition to last year’s PGA Tour winners, the field is also comprised of those who competed at the Tour Championship last August. That list includes Sahith Theegala and Cameron Young, both of whom did not win a PGA Tour event last year.

Players will be faced with some wide fairways throughout the course as low scores are expected, especially after last year’s result of -34, which marked the lowest regulation score in PGA Tour history.

What channel is the Sentry Tournament of Champions on?

The Sentry Tournament of Champions will primarily be televised between the Golf Channel and NBC. Due to Week 18 of the NFL schedule , NBC and the Golf Channel are splitting the weekend.

How much are the Sentry Tournament of Champions tickets?

To just walk the grounds on Thursday and Friday, it will cost $60. The daily ground prices increase to $65 on Saturday and $75 for Sunday’s final round.

Those who only have grounds access tickets are reminded that up to two children ages 15 and under have free admission with a ticketed adult. In addition, Hawaii residents receive discounts on the grounds using the Kama’aina Tickets presented by Mauna Loa.

If you want to get a ticket in a club or have seats for the 18 th hole, tickets at regular price cost as much as $200 throughout the four-day event.

One of the top players in the world not playing is World No. 1 Rory McIlroy, who is the reigning FedEx Cup winner. Previously, McIlroy has had a dozen opportunities to compete in Hawaii for the Sentry Tournament of Champions but has only competed once, which came back in 2019.

Payout for the Sentry Tournament of Champions 2023

This season, the Sentry Tournament of Champions is one of the PGA Tour’s elevated events, which begins this season. The Sentry Tournament of Champions is one of 17 elevated events, including all four majors.

That means that not only will the top 20 PGA Tour Players in the 2022 Player Impact Program (PIP) have committed to the elevated events, but the total purse is also being increased as well.

The purse for the Sentry Tournament of Champions is set for $15 million, a $6.8 million increase from last year and the player who is victorious on Sunday earns $2.7 million.

5 players who can raise the trophy on Sunday

Xander schauffele.

Xander Schauffele won this event in 2019 after firing a final round 62. In the last three years since, Schauffele has finished no worse than 12 th , including finishing second after a playoff in 2020.

Schauffele is coming off a strong 2022 with three wins at the Zurich Classic, Travelers Championship and the Genesis Scottish Open.

Like Schauffele, Tony Finau won three times last year, which has come in his last seven official starts. With Finau’s win in Houston in November, the expectation for the Polynesian golfer rises, especially on the Hawaiian Islands.

Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas is a two-time winner at Kapalua having been victorious in 2017 and 2020. In five of the last six times playing on this course, Thomas has two wins, two third place finishes and a fifth-place finish, which came last year.

The challenge this week will be how he winds affect play. If the winds are anything like 2020, Thomas is in good position for Sunday.

In the five times Jon Rahm has played in this tournament, he has finished no worse than 10 th , including runner-up finishes in 2018 and last year. And last year came with shooting -33 and still not winning the tournament.

Rahm who shot three 66s and a 61 a dozen months ago, is out to finally get on top for the first time in a star-studded field.

Patrick Cantlay

Patrick Cantlay has a couple of fourth place finishes in his four trips to Kapalua, which came in 2020 and 2022. Cantlay started off strong going 66-67 but could not keep up on the weekend, despite shooting 66-67 in his final two rounds.

Cantlay can start his 2023 strong by having a good weekend, he is prime position to be atop the leaderboard on Sunday.

The PGA Tour returns in 2023 with the Sentry Tournament of Champions, and it will celebrate its 25th year on Maui by boasting a field that features 17 of the top 20 players in the world ranking. 2024 Masters Tournament TV schedule: How to watch on ESPN, CBS Sports

The 2024 Masters marks the first men's major championship of 2024, with the Augusta National Golf Club presenting the championship at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.

The Masters TV schedule is updated this year with ESPN and CBS airing the PGA Tour-sanctioned major championship. The Masters TV schedule feels predicatable, but that's a great thing as ESPN and CBS air four days of live golf action from Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. ESPN+, which is an add-on streaming service for $11 per month , does not have unique coverage streams for the Masters.

There will be four days of this tournament, with a cut after 36 holes. CBS airs the final two rounds on the tournament, with all four rounds at the Georgia host club.

The 2024 Masters field includes Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler and Tiger Woods, who all seek to win in the first major championship of the PGA Tour season.

ESPN has TV coverage of Thursday's first round and Friday's second round. CBS airs Saturday's third round and Sunday's final round.

On the first two days of the tournament, the coverage window will be four-and-a-half hours from 3-7:30 p.m. Eastern.

On Saturday and Sunday, CBS picks up at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

All of this coverage can be streamed online using ESPN.com and the ESPN app, as well on CBSSports.com. However, if you prefer to watch the 2024 Masters on good, ole-fashioned TV, here are the 2024 Masters TV times and schedule.

2024 Masters odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions from same golf model that's nailed 10 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the masters 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks for augusta national.

There is a gap between Scottie Scheffler and the rest of the 2024 Masters field according to oddsmakers. Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked player in the world, is the 5-1 favorite in the 2024 Masters odds. Scheffler has won two of his last three starts on the PGA Tour and finished 10th or better in his last six tournaments. Should your 2024 Masters picks include backing the clear-cut favorite, or should you look elsewhere in the 2024 Masters lineup for value?

The Masters 2024 field is loaded with major champions, including Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka and Tiger Woods, and play gets underway from Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday. SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament. McClure's model predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000. The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022. In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend, including the past two Masters. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Top 2024 Masters predictions 

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Masters: Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion and one of the co-favorites, fails to complete the career grand slam and barely cracks the top five at Augusta National. The world's No. 2-ranked golfer is off to a rough start in 2024, with his highest finish through his first five starts being 19th at the Players Championship.

Putting was an issue for McIlroy at the start of the season, as he previously ranked 129th in that area (-0.246). While he has improved to 83rd on the PGA Tour (0.036) and his total shots gained (0.610) is 40th, he is still 123rd in shots gained approaching the green (-0.176). While there appears to be small improvements in his game, his finishes this season are why the model is low on him.

Another surprise: Justin Thomas, a 28-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Thomas is a seasoned veteran on the PGA Tour and will make his ninth appearance at the Masters. He has secured a top-25 finish in six of his past seven starts at Augusta National, finishing fourth in 2020 and eighth in 2022.

Thomas is a two-time major champion and enters the 2024 Masters Tournament ranked fifth in strokes gained: approach to green (0.795). He's struggled on the green this season, but if he's able to drain putts this week, he'll have a shot at being in contention on Sunday.   See who else to pick here .

2024 Masters schedule: TV times, channel, streaming, dates and more

The 2024 Masters is finally here. The best men’s golfers from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf are ready to kick of a new major season this week at Augusta National Golf Club . Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 Masters schedule, including online streaming details, TV times and more.

How to watch the 2024 Masters

This year’s Masters will once again be a tournament unlike any other. While the PGA Tour and PIF have called a truce, they haven’t yet finalized an agreement. So once again the stars of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will face off against each other for the first time of the year at Augusta National.

Last year during his winning campaign at Augusta, Jon Rahm was one of the leading figures on Tour. Since then, he left to join LIV, so the Masters will be the first time in 2024 many fans get to see Rahm in action.

On the PGA Tour side, World No. 2 Rory McIlroy will once again attempt to capture his elusive first Masters win. If he does, he’ll finally complete the career grand slam.

But he’ll have stiff competition in the form of World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler . Scheffler, the 2022 Masters champion, is as hot as a player can be heading into the year’s first major. He’s straightened out his putting and put together big wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship.

The TV coverage for the 2024 Masters will be shared between ESPN and CBS, with ESPN airing the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday, and CBS taking the third and final rounds on the weekend.

Extensive streaming coverage of the 2024 Masters will be available online via ESPN+ , Paramount+, Masters.com, the Masters app and the CBS Sports App. You can watch simulcasts and featured group coverage during all four rounds. Masters.com and the Masters App will also feature “scoring, interactive player tracking, video highlights and features, in-depth tournament news coverage, ‘Every Shot, Every Hole’ and ‘My Group,’ which serves as a personalized featured group. IBM Watson will provide descriptive text and audio AI commentary for all 20,000+ ‘Every Shot, Every Hole’ videos.”

Masters Tournament, Round 1: How to watch, scores, tee times, TV times

The 88th Masters Tournament gets underway Thursday from Augusta National. Scottie Scheffler looks to continue his record-breaking season and enters the event as the favorite to win his second green jacket. Rory McIlroy travels to Augusta, Georgia, eyeing a career Grand Slam, while defending FedExCup champion Viktor Hovland will aim for his first major title. Tiger Woods makes his second start of the season with the opportunity to set a Masters record by making the cut for the 24th consecutive time. The five-time Masters winner tied Gary Player and Fred Couples last year for most made cuts.

Here's everything you need to know to follow the action.
