El Auto Safari Chapín se encuentra ubicado en el departamento de Escuintla , en el se puede encontrar distintas áreas como la reserva de animales entre los que resaltan leones, jirafas, hipopótamos y otras especies, área de zoológico , Área recreativa con restaurante y paseos en lancha por una laguna.

Actividades que se pueden realizar

El Auto Safari Chapín es el primer zoológico de Centroamérica donde se puede ir en vehículo y estar en contacto con mas de 96 especies distintas de animales, donde las ventanas y puertas del auto son la única cosa que separa a los visitantes de los animales.

El parque cuenta con un total de 14 espacios , uno de los cuales es una zona de descanso donde podrá bajarse del vehículo, disfrutar de un refrigerio y observar a los animales desde los andenes o miradores, el recorrido completo dura aproximadamente 1 hora y media .

Este Zoológico se encuentra abierto de martes a domingo de nueve treinta de la mañana ( 09:30 AM ) a cinco de la tarde ( 05:00 PM ) el costo del ingreso para niños menores de 11 años es de Q. 50.00 y para niños mayores de 11 años y adultos es de Q. 60.00.

Esta tarifa cubre el paseo en auto, paseo por el zoológico, paseo en lancha y uso de las piscinas

Partiendo desde la ciudad de Guatemala lo recomendable para llegar es dirigirse por la ruta al Pacífico tomando la Calzada Aguilar Batres , seguidamente tomar la autopista hacía Palín, Escuintla hasta llegar a la Ruta a Puerto Quetzal donde se pueden observar rótulos con indicaciones para llegar al Auto safari chapin, en el kilómetro 87.5 .

El Auto Safari Chapín, ubicado en Escuintla, es un lugar para visitar en familia donde, dentro de tu vehículo, podrás apreciar animales salvajes.

El Auto Safari Chapín es un espacio abierto de animales ubicado en Escuintla , Guatemala . Es un lugar muy popular entre los guatemaltecos para observar de cerca la vida salvaje .

Historia del Auto Safari Chapín

Esta reserva de vida silvestre se comenzó a idear por Roberto Berger Lehnhoff y Ricardo Mata desde el año 1975. En ese entonces, su propósito se formuló para conservar y reproducir especies de la fauna guatemalteca en vías de extinción .

Los primeros animales que albergó este recinto fueron 15 venados cola blanca donados. Más tarde llegó primera pareja de hipopótamos y otros animales salvajes.

Se formularon estudios y se planificó la construcción del lugar y el cuidado de la fauna. Primero se realizó el camino de recorrido donde tuvieron trabajar la tierra para dejar espacio libre para los visitantes.

El ranchón del lugar se construyó utilizando madera de Teca y luego edificaron la infraestructura del zoológico , las oficinas, taquillas, ventas de refrescos y piscinas.

Se continuó con adquirir más animales y se reforestó el parque con árboles de Caoba, Conacaste, Matilisguate, Cedro, plantas de croto, clavelón y bambú, entre otros.

Oficialmente el Auto Safari Chapín abrió sus puertas al público el 26 de enero de 1980.

Atracciones

• El lugar se dedica a la preservación de animales a través de su reproducción y la educación de la fauna. Los estudiantes de todo el país que visitan el lugar pueden aprovechar para aprender y observar a los animales de cerca.
• Cuenta con un total de 14 recintos donde la mayoría de animales viven en áreas grandes, que son réplica aproximada de su hábitat natural .
• Algunos animales han sido rescatados de situaciones de peligro y otros han sido donados. La mayoría ha nacido dentro del parque.
• En el recinto hay 96 especies distintas de animales.
• Área de piscinas.
• Se puede dar de comer a las jirafas por Q 10.00 (De 9:30 de la mañana a las 12:00 del mediodía).

Ingreso individual: Incluye paseo vehicular, paseo peatonal en el zoológico, uso de piscinas y paseo en lancha.

The Chapin family’s memorial foundation will hold its first fundraising gala exactly one year after a University of Idaho home invasion attack killed student Ethan Chapin and three friends.

One year has passed since the slaying of four promising young University of Idaho students rocked the campus in Moscow, Idaho – and made shock waves across the country.

Now, the family of one of the victims is reflecting on the charitable work done in his honor.

The University of Idaho's Sigma Chi chapter, of which slain student Ethan Chapin was a member, has given the first memorial scholarship in his honor to his brother, Hunter. His parents are hosting a fundraising gala for their own scholarship fund on the one-year mark, and his triplet brother and sister are still studying at the school.

Ethan and Hunter, along with sister Maizie, are triplets whose 21st birthday was last month. All three enrolled at the university together, and both brothers joined Sigma Chi.

Their parents Stacy and Jim traveled from Washington state to Moscow, Idaho, last week. On Monday, exactly one year after the murders, the family is hosting a black-tie fundraising gala to help future students achieve their academic goals after Ethan's were cut short.

The family also released a series of previously unshared photographs recovered from Ethan's computer – showing him enjoying a day on the boat, vacationing with family and more.

Ethan majored in sports and tourism management and would have graduated in the class of 2025. The university awarded him a posthumous degree at the commencement ceremony in the spring.

In a surprise twist at the ceremony, the Sigma Chi Foundation also recognized Chapin's mother, Stacy Chapin, with an honor that had previously been reserved only for members and alumni.

Her family was the charity's largest donor, when accounting for separate donations from Maizie and from Ethan's own checking account, helping Sigma Chi endow the fund so it can award scholarships annually going forward.

"He would've thought that was the greatest thing ever," Stacy Chapin told Fox News Digital. 

IDAHO STUDENT MURDERS: KOHBERGER WAIVES RIGHT TO SPEEDY TRIAL, DELAYING START OF TRIAL

A Sigma Chi fraternity member will receive a $5,000 scholarship at the University of Idaho every year in perpetuity as a result, she said.

The fraternity established the Ethan Chapin Memorial Scholarship Fund just days after the slayings rocked the campus community, declaring they would present it to an undergraduate member once a year. So far, the chapter has raised more than $125,000.

Separately, the Chapin family has also established a memorial scholarship foundation in his honor, Ethan's Smile, to provide financial assistance for students from his hometown of Skagit Valley, Washington, attending the University of Idaho.

The university is also working on a memorial garden – which Stacy Chapin said will be designed by architecture students already on campus.

The parents met with those students when they were visiting last week, she said.

"Jim and I gave the gift of education to our kids with the intent that they could ‘stand on their own two feet’ one day," Stacy Chapin wrote on Instagram Thursday, where she shared Ethan's old photos. "With that in mind, we created the Ethan’s Smile Foundation to provide scholarships to post-high school kids so that they can follow their dreams. Better yet, kids receive the scholarship in Ethan’s name, and we can’t think of a better way to honor him."

The fraternity's house on Greek row is about a 200-yard walk from the King Road crime scene, where police found Ethan, his girlfriend Xana Kernodle and her two housemates, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, dead on Nov. 13, 2022.

After a weeks-long investigation, police arrested Bryan Kohberger , a 28-year-old criminology Ph.D. student from the neighboring Washington State University, at his parents' house in Pennsylvania.

A judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf in May on four charges of first-degree murder and another of felony burglary. He could face the death penalty if convicted. He is being held without bail at the Latah County Jail in Moscow, Idaho.

Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Se concibió la idea de crear una reserva de fauna por parte de Don Roberto Berger Lehnhoff y Don Ricardo Mata en el año de 1975, con el fin de conservar y reproducir especies de la fauna Guatemalteca en vías de extinción. Los primeros animales en llegar a la reserva fueron 15 Venados cola blanca donados por el Señor Rafael Herrera. Luego vino la primera pareja de hipopótamos, así como más adquisiciones de animales silvestres locales e internacionales, algunos en calidad de donación por varias personas. Después de 3 años de estudios y planificación, se inició por hacer el camino del recorrido, removiendo 75 centímetros de materia orgánica y agregándole balastre, el cual se ha mantenido en excelentes condiciones hasta la fecha. Luego se construyó el ranchón, confeccionado por el señor Horacio García Aguirre, utilizando madera de Teca, sembrada en 1945 por Roberto Berger. De allí se construyo el resto de la infraestructura del zoológico, y además se hicieron las oficinas, taquillas, ventas de refrescos y las piscinas. Durante dos años que duró la construcción se continúo con la adquisición de animales, mientras se reforesto todo el parque con árboles de Caoba, Conacaste, Matilisguate, Cedro, así como varias plantas de croto, clavelón, y bambú, entre otros; abriendo finalmente sus puertas al público el 26 de enero de 1980. En 1994 se inició un programa progresivo de remozamiento de las jaulas y recintos, en la cual se reduce la necesidad de jaulas y los animales cuentan ahora con un entorno más natural, abierto y acondicionado para sus necesidades específicas. Hasta la fecha se continúa la remodelación para poder mejor mostrar a los animales y que estos cuenten con espacios abiertos donde vivir. Se ha logrado reproducir con éxito especies guatemaltecas en peligro de extinción como el venado cola blanca, venado huitzizil, coche de monte, jabalí, jaguares, monos araña, monos capuchinos, guacamayas rojo y azul, loros, y pericas.  

Además se mantiene la colección de especies de otros continentes, para colaborar mundialmente con su reproducción, y que a la vez sirvan para darlas a conocer a los visitantes de la reserva. Los visitantes pueden admirar fauna africana como el león, jirafas, avestruces, monos vervet y otros. También pueden ver ñandús o reas, así como antílopes Nilgai, sasín y venado chitales originarios del Asia. La mayoría de estas especies se han reproducido con mucho éxito en la reserva, y continuamos el esfuerzo por mantener una colección abundante y sana. Nuestro programa educativo ha hecho que estudiantes de escuelas de toda la república visiten el parque, y a través de su visita se les haga conciencia de la importancia de la preservación de la fauna y flora, para que cuando lleguen de regreso a sus lugares de origen, compartan con su comunidad éste mensaje y llamen a la acción a las personas para cuidar su entorno natural.
