• The Rotorua Information Centre is located at 1167 Fenton Street Rotorua. Please be ready and waiting at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled activity time.

• What to bring:
• For kayaking in summer months (Dec, Jan, February) we recommend wearing swim wear with thermal leggings/gym type leggings and a thermal top layer, fleece jersey and light jacket. For Kayaking outside of summer (March-November) please wear swim wear, thermal leggings/gym type leggings and a thermal top layer with a minimum of three upper layers which are preferably fleece or wool. Please also bring a woolen beanie and woolen gloves. If it looks like rain a rain jacket also. Water shoes are recommended, but are provided free of charge if needed.
• Towel and warm clothes to get changed into after the tour.
• A sense of fun and adventure.
• Not recommended for travelers with back problems
• Most travelers can participate
• This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund

The whole scenery is wild, with steam constantly coming off the cliffs and the geyser going off every eight minutes or so. The kayaking itself was relatively easy and perfect for beginners. Our guide, Zita, was very knowledgeable and experienced. She showed us to the best viewing spots, took photos of us kayaking, and did a detour at a hot water beach which was pretty cool. There are plenty to see in this tour which includes about 5 separate caves/caverns. Nice night kayaking experience. But a little offsetting to go blind into these somewhat small spaces completely on your own. Not a lot of instruction or direction on getting into caves...bump into a wall and feel/pull along cave walls until glow worms are above you. Our guide seemed frustrated with the group it seemed. Sunset, glow worms, and an incredible sky full of stars from on the lake was well worth the price, but an added bonus was our cheerful, personable tour guides. It was a calm, clear night and I happily stargazed while waiting my turn to go in the caves. The stars were incredible. The caves are small, and you go in to see the glow worms one by one sitting or lying down on your board. The large group was picked up from the visitor center in town, and then we were split into 3 separate paddling small groups of kayak or SUP. Upgrade to our Starlight Gourmet Kayak Tour and enjoy a full gourmet BBQ Dinner, Drink and Dessert with an additional Hour at the Hot Pools for NZ$240 per person.

If a cancellation is made at least 24hrs prior to the scheduled departure, with consultation of the Waimarino Group manager, a full refund will be made. If persons fail to arrive for departure of the tour, without notifying Waimarino Group before the stated check in time, the full balance of the tour payment will be withheld.

Glide across the lake to the stunning Manupirua Hot Pools, which are only accessible by water. On the way back visit our secret Glowworm cave and see how the lake is transformed by the moon and the twinkling stars above, with the night sky being the perfect end to your adventure. Our guides will meet you at our launch site 41C Otaramare Road, Okere Falls. We can provide you with transport from your central Rotorua accommodation for an additional cost of $30pp. This option can be added to your tour upon booking.
