Jordan Discovery tour

I booked the Jordan Discovery tour with Explore, and it was absolutely amazing. The hotels were lovely, and I had the best guide Abdallah. We started in Amman and worked our way down to the dead sea, camped in Wadi Rum and stayed in Petra. The highlight of the tour was the Treasury of Petra and sleeping under the stars in Wadi Rum. Abdallah was an excellent guide who went above and beyond. His knowledge of Jordan's history is exceptional. I learnt so much about Jordan from Abdallah on this trip. He helped with finding the best restaurants and even gave history talks during the journey to each historic site. Explore have packaged this trip perfectly. The Jordanians are so kind and lovely. I felt super safe to walk around alone day or night. I highly recommend this tour and hope you get the amazing Abdallah as your guide.

Amalfi Coast Walking — Hotel Sole

Matteo Giordano proved to be an excellent and loveable guide. Matteo is knowledgeable in both the terrain and history of the Amalfi coast. We were fortunate that Matteo took us to visit his family lemon orchard, where his mom and dad welcomed as friends and treated us to a couple of specialties. Being in my late eighties, I chose to participate in three of the leisurely walks, which I found challenging but well worth the effort. Midweek the trip to Herculaneum and Pompeii was guided by a colleague of Matteo’s, Francesco. He knows his history and added a lot of interesting information to our visit. On the other days that I chose not to hike, I spent a few hours reading on the lovely and sunny Hotel Sole terrace and walking about Maiori, enjoying this seafront town. Another day was spent taking the ferry to both Amalfi and Positano. The multi-generational Hotel Sole staff was very welcoming and every morning, with a smile on her face, the hostess enquired “Cafe Americano?”. March or November is a great time of they year to take this walk, as the weather is a little cooler, the crowds a little smaller and the restaurants quieter.

Miserable shambles in Costa Rica

Family trip to Costa Rica is an expensive shambles - the itinerary is vague and rose tinted. The reality is shabby lodges with terrible food, pointless ‘nature hikes’ with zero wildlife to be seen, on crowded paths only metres from the car park. Food provided is ghastly. Every day is spent hour after hour in the bus, arriving at the next dismal hotel in the dark. Explore have managed to remove any element of authentic Costa Rican life from this trip and keep you isolated in aging hotels, far away from any ambiance or culture. Save your money, folks, and just hire a car - everyone speaks English & you don’t need the miserable experience provided by Explore

Date of experience : 03 April 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent trip in Costa Rica. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. While we endeavour to offer a balanced itinerary of adventure, exploration, and cultural immersion, we understand that individual preferences may vary. We partner with reputable providers for transportation and accommodation, and we regret any disappointment you experienced in this regard. Costa Rican cuisine is renowned for its simplicity and freshness, and while we aim to cater to diverse palates, we understand that tastes can differ. Regarding wildlife sightings and nature hikes, while we showcase the country's rich biodiversity, we acknowledge that nature can be unpredictable. We were grateful that you contacted us towards the end of your tour, with your feedback. Whilst we did provide an opportunity for you to leave the tour given your dissatisfaction, however, you chose to continue. Your feedback is invaluable, as we continually strive to enhance our offerings. We have already received direct feedback from you regarding your concerns and will reply to those in the next few days. Thank you once again for your feedback.

Not adventure - a coach holiday

Advertised by Explore ! As adventure tourism, actually it’s 8 hours trapped in a bus- the reality bares no resemblance to the itinerary provided. It’s a coach holiday basically- day after day schlepping around in a stuffy bus with an hour or so a day to get out & trudge along a crowded path in the ‘rain forest’. Same food rice & beans day in day out - dreadful experience, itinerary is a complete deception.

I have responded to your most recent review concerning this trip.

Just back from the Inca Trail Trek in…

Just back from the Inca Trail Trek in Peru and had a great time. Knowledgeable friendly local guide, clean comfortable hotels, good food and tents when camping. Could have had a little more information about what to pack for camping and a little more time to explore Saqsaywaman and Macchu Picchu (though accept that the latter is restricted by Peruvian regulations for protection of the site). Was it perfect? No, but what is; I certainly have no complaints and the fact that this was my 11th trip with Explore in 12 years is testament to the fact that this experience was not a one off.

Date of experience : 07 April 2024

Dear Helen, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your Inca Trail Trek holiday. We are delighted to see that you had a great time whilst on tour. I have forwarded your comments on providing a bit more information on what to pack for the camping portion of the holiday on to the Product Manager for the region. We sincerely appreciate your suggestion and are so happy to see you found the hotels to have been clean and comfortable and the food good. We cannot wait to welcome you on trip 12 soon! Kind regards, Explore!

Walking Jordan's Spice Trails

Walking Jordan's Spice Trails Just back from a fantastic few days walking through parts of Jordan including Wadi Rum, Petra, Little Petra, Madobar and Jerash. The scenery was amazing, our guide, Saleh, was extremely knowledgeable and patient and we learnt a lot about the history of Jordan and gained an understanding of the modern day country. This was the first guided tour trip I have been on. It was very well organised allowing a reasonable amount of time in each area. We spent a day in Amman before joing the trip and a few days in Aqaba at the end. All the Jordanians we met were very welcoming and we felt safe for the whole of the visit. I'd fully recommend the tour.

Date of experience : 24 February 2024

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that your walking tour through Jordan's Spice Trails, was a fantastic experience for you. We're delighted to have made your first guided tour memorable with well-organized itineraries and a good balance of time in each area. Your endorsement means a lot to us, and we're pleased to hear you felt safe and welcomed by the Jordanian people throughout your visit. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to hosting you on more incredible journeys in the future!

Fantastic service. Would recommend

We were on holiday in Sri Lanka when an accident meant we had to return home after 3 days. The staff at Explore were absolutely amazing. They helped to sort our return so quickly, working with our Insurance Company. The Emergency Duty Manager was on hand 24/7 (which was great due to the time difference). We really cannot praise them highly enough. we have been fortunate over many years to never need any assistance, but thankfully they showed at this time how good they are. Would highly recommend them. A special thank you to Yvonne, Cally and Jenny who sorted flights and special assistance at the airports all in under 24 hours . Fantastic service !! Thank you all.

Date of experience : 25 February 2024

Thank you for sharing your experience with us Robert. We greatly appreciate your kind words regarding the support you received from our team, especially Yvonne, Cally, and Jenny. It's heartening to know that our staff's quick response and assistance, even in challenging situations, left a positive impression. We're grateful for the recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Classic Egypt and Nile Cruise

We’ve just completed a tour of Egypt, the “Classic Egypt with Nile Cruise” which included the pyramids, Abu Simbel, cruising on the Nile and a whole lot more. The whole trip was expertly handled by our Explore tour guide Waleed. His knowledge of Egyptian history was phenomenal and interestingly woven into stories. He soon tuned into the interests of our little group and his sense of humour made for a relaxed atmosphere. He took care to ensure every aspect of the trip was safe, the guidance he gave for us as travellers was appropriate and wise. Egypt is safe and a fascinating place to visit. There is so much amazing history. We absolutely loved this holiday and recommend it whole heartedly. Visit Egypt and you won’t regret it. Ask for Waleed a fab Egyptologist.

Date of experience : 29 December 2023

Thank you so much for your review, Karen! We are delighted that you had such an enjoyable time on your Classic Egypt with Nile Cruise holiday and that Walid provided such a wonderful experience. I will pass on your kind feedback to the Product team and Walid. We hope to have the chance to welcome you on your next Explore adventure soon!

Discover Nepal

This was a fantastic trip (my 28th with Explore and one of the very best). Every day was enjoyable. Kiran Deo Bhatt our guide was simply outstanding. The accommodation was first class (normally this is one area Explore gets marked down on by me slightly but no complaints on this occasion) and the Nepali people so kind and welcoming. This trip is a brilliant blend of culture nature and walking. Expect long drives on dusty uneven roads but if you are after a genuine experience theseare well worth it. The white water rafting was something I was reticent about but it was great fun. Recommend you do all of the optional activities. Simply brilliant.

Thank you so much for your review, Andrew! We are delighted that you had such an enjoyable time on your Discover Nepal holiday and that Kiran provided such a wonderful experience. We cannot wait to welcome you on your next Explore adventure!

Trip was horribly managed by Explore

Trip was horribly managed by Explore, particularly at the start and finish and was redeemed only by the great guide and the other travellers. We complained to them by email 2 weeks ago and have yet to receive a reply.

Costa Rica Coast to Coast November/December 2023

This trip to Costa Rica was a bit disappointing from beginning to end, apart from the wildlife seen. The initial information was disappointing. The trip notes were vague and did not correspond to the guide's itinerary. Quite often what we expected in the way of tours did not materialise. We seemed to lurch from an expensive lunch to a pricey dinner most days. The guide had to be pressed to make the tour more flexible and active. We did not spend a lot of money to be satisfied hanging around a hotel. Accommodation was spacious but there were plumbing issues in most hotels/lodges. The wildlife was fantastic however, and we were lucky enough to see the creatures on most people's bucket list. Overall, the holiday was too expensive for the experience received.

Date of experience : 25 November 2023

Dear Muireall, Thank you for taking the time to review your Costa Rica – Coast to Coast holiday. We do apologise that you felt the holiday was not a good value. I have forwarded your comments on to the Product Manager for this holiday and she is speaking with our Local Ground Agent about the points you’ve raised. We are happy to hear that you found the wildlife to have been a highlight whilst on tour. Booking no problem BUT poor customer service after that

Booking no problem, but as others have reported on going customer service appears poor. I haven’t got an appropriate response to my query about a trip next month after 2 emails and 4 telephone calls. I am beginning to regret booking with Explore. Wish I had read these reviews prior to booking.I would certainly have gone elsewhere. I just hope this gets a response

Date of experience : 16 October 2023

Thank you for your comments and I am sorry it has taken a long time to respond to this. However, I understand that you received a response to your pre-tour queries, on 1st November. I hope are having a wonderful time in Vietnam, it's a beautiful country. Lisa, Explore Customer Relations

Inside Vietnam tour

We have just returned from the Inside Vietnam tour and had a great time. The tour was very well organised with visits to some very interesting sights, The hotel accommodation was very good especially the homestay on the Mekong Delta. We couldn't have asked for a better guide, Thin Ton, was very attentive and knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. On the basis of this trip we would use Explore again.

Thank you so much for your review, Nigel. Please be assured we'll pass on your kind feedback to the Product team & your Explore Leader. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next adventure!

Classic Egypt Tour, a dream come true.

I have just returned home from Egypt where I had the most amazing experience coutsefy to Waleed, our Explore designated tour guide. The tour was very well organised and it exceeded my expectations in many ways, particualtly in terms of the amazing knowledge of Egyptian history shared by Waleed. He is an outstanding egiptologist and tour guide, very enlightened, funny, friendly and considerate. Thank you Explore and Waleed for making my biggest dream come true.

Date of experience : 24 December 2023

Thank you so much for your review! It is so nice to hear that Walid was such an excellent Explore Leader and that your holiday exceeded your expectations. We hope to have the chance to welcome you on another Explore adventure soon. Kind regards, Explore!

Avoid Explore if you can

I received final payment for my forthcoming booking but the telephone number given doesnt exist. I emailed twice and received no response. I went on website to see the site is down but to ring a number. The number given is unhelpful as cannot take payment. The price of the holiday has gone down but I have to pay the original price.... Wont be booking with them again and if you want to, book late and not early as you will be ripped off!

Walking in Crete

Had a brilliant time trekking through Crete. A beautiful and rugged Island with Geography that keeps you in awe. A really good bunch of people and a special mention for Peter, our tour leader who most of us felt went above and beyond when helping members out on what were at times really quite technical descents. His knowledge and sense of humour were excellent and his passion for Greek culture and history was contagious. Recommended.

Date of experience : 17 September 2022

This is lovely to hear Brian, thanks so much for taking the time to recommend our Walking in Crete trip!

Costa Rica Wildlife Tour

I don't usually write a review and I'm a well seasoned traveller who is happy to go with the flow but my Costa Rica wildlife holiday worst holiday ever - tour guide was in a bad mood most of the time and condescending - half the time he pointed things of interest out after we had passed them or you couldn't even see them. Accommodation was poor in most places and often no choice of where to eat - and expensive for what you got. Itinerary was definitely not accurate and misleading - very disappointed and a waste of money. I had previously posted this under Explore Trips.

Date of experience : 07 November 2023

Thank you for taking the time to review your Costa Rica Wildlife Tour, Roslyn. We do very much apologise for your experience with your Explore Leader and that you found the holiday underwhelming. I have forwarded your comments on to the Programme Manager for Costa Rica and she is currently speaking with our Local Ground Agent about the concerns you’ve raised. We once again thank you for your comments and review of your trip as it is invaluable to ensure we are offering unforgettable holiday experiences. Kind regards, Explore!

Malta & Gozo Walking

The walking and overall schedule was good. Some last-minute changes to the plan at the end of the week - that messed things up - which was a shame. Can't imagine doing the walking in the heat of the summer. Temperatures for us (Nov) - mid-20s deg C - perfect. Booking process and support from UK - very poor (sorry, Explore) - hence the 3 stars.

Date of experience : 04 November 2023

Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that the walking and schedule overall were positives for you on your holiday. I am sorry to hear, however, that you felt the service you received during the booking process was poor and some last-minute changes to the itinerary marred your experience. We try to deliver great customer service throughout your engagement with us and I am sorry that we fell short of your expectations. We do once again thank you for your feedback as we constantly review the quality of our service and tours to ensure we are offering unforgettable experiences. Should you have any additional feedback you would like to share, please reach out to our Customer Relations team at [email protected]. Kind regards, Explore!

Exploring Turkey

Last month I travelled to Turkey with Explore and loved every minute of my adventure! Our guide was very knowledgeable, completely passionate and personable. This gave the group the right platform to bond well. The tour was a blend of authentic experiences, gastronomic delights and local encounters. I felt like I had a taste of true Turkey. This was my first time touring with Explore, and I’m already pouring over their tours, planning my next escapade! Thank you Explore; now where to next?!

Date of experience : 18 June 2023

Hi Clare, thank you so much for taking the time to post this, we're looking forward to welcoming you on your next Explore 'escapade'!

Japan is a wonderful country

Japan is a wonderful country. Easy to travel around as signage on public transport was in Japanese and English. Very helpful people; if they cannot answer your question they will try to find someone who could. Great value for money. Most cafe/restaurant menu’s were in Japanese so ordering food was an adventure in itself; however staff would go out of their way to help.

Hello, I'm considering a tour with Explore Worldwide Tour Company https://www.exploreworldwide.com/ or http://www.exploreworldwide.ca or https://www.explore.co.uk

I've looked through the forum and while there seems to be a lot of people mentioning the company, I didn't find any reviews of the company or specific trips they organized and a lot of comments are 4-6 years old or by people with only a couple of comments. I'm wondering if anyone has used them recently. What has been your experience? I'm specifically thinking of going on their Jordan trip, but I'm more interested in hearing how your experience was working with the company. Were they well organized, professional, quality of accomodations, tour guides, etc. Thank you in advance.

Hello grlfrmnsk,

You might want to consider researching directly on the Jordan forum as well or even posting there to see if the local experts in Jordan are familiar with this travel company the the tours they provide within the country. Here is the link to the Jordan forum if helpful.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g293985-i2131-Jordan.html

Good luck with your research and hope you find the information you are looking for.

Thank you for your reply. But I'm really looking for general feedback on this company.

What is Amazon Explore?

How much is amazon explore, how is amazon explore different from other virtual experiences, my experience with amazon explore, some of the best amazon explore experiences to try, prime members can try amazon's new virtual travel experiences for free — here's what the platform is like to use and some of the best tours to try.

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

  • Amazon Explore was recently launched to offer interactive, one-on-one virtual travel experiences.
  • Hosts are located around the world and for some, you can even shop for local items in real time.
  • Amazon Explore experiences range from $10 to $99, but Prime members can try it for free.

Insider Today

The other night I walked through the streets of Tokyo, stopping in at small shops, exploring handmade ceramics, saying hi to a local shopkeeper, and filling a basket with new treasures to display in my home — all while sitting in my living room in New Jersey. This was possible thanks to one of the new virtual tours from Amazon Explore .

For the last long year, I've been trying to scratch my travel itch with virtual experiences, with mixed success. I tried online cooking classes, virtually toured museums and historical sites around the globe, and even bought my son and his cousin a small group online tea ceremony with EF Tours. And I've followed along as Airbnb added online interactive tours with guides.

After all of that, I was surprised to hear that Amazon was jumping into the game. After a year of online experiences, why now? And how would this be different?

To find out, I bought a virtual ticket for a first-hand Amazon Explore review to see exactly what they were offering.

Amazon Explore is a series of live, virtual one-on-one experiences with hosts located around the world. You can access the program on the Amazon website. However, as a brand new offering that is technically still in beta, it's a little hard to spot tucked away as the very last entry on the "Programs and Features" tab.

Perusing Amazon Explore you'll find experiences ranging from hands-on cooking to tours of Paris and Berlin to virtual trips to the beach. Before I jumped in and booked my own tour, I was given an opportunity to do a short media "sampling" of Amazon Explore for review purposes. Highlights included two cooking experiences (salsa in Mexico , $28, and pasta making in Italy , $52) and two shopping and culture tours (one in Tokyo for only $9 and Quebec City at a pricey $62). They were all fun and exciting enough that I was eager to sign up for a full experience myself after.

Other available options range from learning about the legends of alchemy in Prague ($56) to getting up close with sloths in Costa Rica ($27). No matter your travel interests, it's easy enough to find an experience catered to it. You can also filter by place, price, ratings, experience duration, and more to help narrow down the options.

Everything takes place within the unique Amazon platform, and on the shopping experiences, you have the added benefit of being able to pick items out in real time to be sent to you later.

Prices run the gamut from $10 to $99. Sometimes you'll find multiple prices for similar experiences (individual guides set their own prices, according to Amazon). Those who have Amazon Prime can try their first experience up to $50 completely free using the code FREEFUN . If you're not already a Prime member, you can sign up here .

Before you get started, shop around to make sure you're not overpaying, just like you would if you were actually in the destination.

Like purchasing any other item on Amazon, you can use your preferred stored payment method, add a new card, or use gift cards.

One additional way you can pay is with travel points — which is especially great since many of us have been sitting on a pile of unused points due to the pandemic. Hilton Honors has expanded its collaboration with Amazon so you can now use your Hilton points to book experiences. You just need to link your Hilton account with your Amazon one before you book.

I noticed that the charge for my session wasn't processed until I had successfully completed my experience, and I also had the option to cancel right up until the time slot began. If there are tech difficulties that force a cancellation, you'll automatically be refunded.

There are a few things that make Amazon stand out from other online virtual tours and experiences. First, every tour with Amazon Explore is a one-on-one experience. If you're hoping to sit back with your microphone turned off, this isn't going to be your cup of tea. However, if you miss chatting with someone new, asking questions about what you're looking at, or trying out a few words of a new language, this is a great option.

Another difference you'll notice right away is the high production value. While other experiences use a regular Zoom log-in, Amazon has created its own unique platform. This high-tech option has integrated graphics, including maps and labels; the ability to touch an item on your screen and have your guide see what you're pointing to; and one-touch buttons for taking screenshots and to use a "megaphone" to talk to locals (for example, a shopkeeper) near your guide.

One thing to note: Currently, there's no dual camera. Amazon's platform allows you to see your guide, but they can't see you. However, you can still easily converse in real time.

Another intersection where Amazon Explore detours from Airbnb and other virtual tours is with the shopping experiences. Your guide will shop for you if your experience is marked with an "In-Session Shopping" tag.

On a shopping itinerary I tried, this was a revelation and an entirely new way of interacting with the destination. The guide entered a local store, held up items, and after we chose one, brought it to the register, photographed it, and purchased it for me. The itemized charges appeared in my Amazon orders immediately. Genius.

However, shipping is extra, so don't assume you'll have free Amazon Prime delivery for this program.

Additionally, for one of the cooking experiences, I was able to have all of my fresh ingredients delivered from Amazon Fresh. Although this service isn't fully integrated into the program yet (it's not a one-click option), it's easy enough to copy and paste the ingredient list into your Whole Foods or Fresh shopping basket.

While you're at it, you can also order any suggested kitchen equipment for your recipe from the Amazon site (if you're wondering, like I was, why Amazon is getting into experiences, this was an "Aha" moment).

I was interested in trying Amazon Explore 's live shopping options, and my son, who was joining me for this experience, is interested in Japanese culture, so it was an easy jump to choose a Tokyo shopping experience. There were three options that worked for us timing-wise (we had to choose a late-night time slot on the East Coast to coincide with stores opening in Japan in the morning) for $10, $20, and $39 price points, all 45 minutes long. I chose the mid-level option: Shop Like a Chef . It was a tour of Kappabashi, an area of Tokyo that specializes in cookery and kitchenware, and $20 for a 45-minute private session seemed like a good value.

Our session started out strong. Explore has an interface that can only be accessed via Amazon on a laptop or desktop computer. The graphics were great, and the short intro of technicolor experiences around the world created Disney-level excitement. This was definitely not a Zoom chat.

Our guide Giulia (a friendly, trilingual Italian, Japanese speaker), jumped right in with introductions and gave us a quick intro to the cooking district complete with a map of the area displayed across our screen and crisp graphics that showed four shop choices available to tour — Chopsticks, Ceramics, Fake Food, and Knives. Giulia said we'd have time for two, and we chose Ceramics and Fake Food, because plastic ramen was something we needed to see.

One note I quickly realized is that you need to be decisive on these tours. It helps to be able to pull the trigger quickly on a purchase since time is quite literally ticking while you shop. After I (finally) committed to a lovely hand-painted teapot and two teacups halfway through the session, Giulia brought them to the register and photographed them so she could return after the tour to process payment.

We then tagged along on a quick walk through Kappabashi, listening to the sounds of shoppers and background store music on our way to an "only in Japan" shop filled with hand-painted food replicas.

Several magnets and key chains shaped like raw fish later, our 45-minute tour was over and it was time to say sayonara . All around, it was a really fun, truly unusual, and rewarding virtual experience.

My receipt arrived immediately, and although shipping can take as long as four weeks, my package arrived in just five days. However, be aware that prices can quickly add up on top of the initial experience price. I ended up spending $80 while shopping and the shipping was an additional $25.

"Souvenirs are memories," enthused guide Mizuki in Japan at the end of our tour, which seemed to perfectly sum up why these experiences seem so special. Staying at home this year I have neither new memories nor new souvenirs, and I was happy for an opportunity to get both.

Overall, I found the Amazon virtual experiences I tried to be superior to other online travel options I've tried. From the unique interactive platform to the personal, one-on-one interactions to the real-time shopping options, these virtual offerings truly stand out in a crowded field.  I'm guessing that when Amazon Explore comes out of beta there will be a dual video option, which would be very helpful.

Neil Young And Crazy Horse Kick Off Love Earth Tour 2024: Here’s The Setlist

by Em Casalena April 25, 2024, 12:40 pm

Neil Young’s highly-anticipated Love Earth Tour just kicked off with Crazy Horse in San Diego, California yesterday at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre. As always, Young puts on one hell of a show and hasn’t slowed down at this point in his six-decade career.

Videos by American Songwriter

[ Buy Tickets to See Neil Young and Crazy Horse Live in 2024 ]

Young performed some of his greatest hits, including “Cortez The Killer” and “Heart Of Gold” to fans’ delight. He performed a couple of deep cuts as well.

Young and Crazy Horse killed the performance, and it’s clear that both the legend and the band have quite a bit of pent-up creativity. They’ve just put out a new collaborative album as well, FU##IN’ UP , which was released just a few days ago on April 20. An all-format version will be released tomorrow, April 26.

Neil Young’s Love Earth Tour Setlist

Curious about what you can expect from Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s current tour? Here’s the setlist from last night’s show:

1. “Cortez The Killer”

2. “Cinnamon Girl”

3. “Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’)”

4. “Don’t Cry No Tears”

5. “Down By The River”

6. “The Losing End (When You’re On)”

7. “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”

8. “Powderfinger”

9. “Love And Only Love”

10. “Comes A Time” (Solo/Acoustic Performance)

11. “Heart Of Gold” (Solo/Acoustic Performance)

12. “Human Highway” (Solo/Acoustic Performance)

13. “Don’t Be Denied”

14. “Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)”

While fans shouldn’t expect Young’s setlist to be exactly the same for all of the Love Earth Tour’s upcoming dates, last night’s show in Cali gave a pretty solid preview of what fans can expect from the rest of the trek.

Young and Crazy Horse will perform another set tonight at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre before traveling to Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and onward towards Canada.

Alaska Freewheel

Initial liaison with Explore Tours was perfect. The girls understood our needs & took our ideas into consideration AND planned a wonderful tour for us. Basically we wanted accommodation & car rental; we would plan our own excursions. Doing the self-drive though the tour agency presented more leverage with both aspects & we paced ourselves on well-researched excursions. Communication detail was brilliant. Our accommodation was exceptional & car hire went without a hitch. We were particularly enamoured with Denali Grizzly Bear Resort & the Knik River Lodge. Knik River is a delightful, out-of-way area. Alaska is a picture-perfect place & our trip will remain etched in our memories forever. I have already espoused the virtues of Explore Tours to friends & family here in Australia.

The tour needs to give more info about Nome -see comment.

The tour needs to give more info about environment , people & culture of Nome and much less personal life story of the driver/guide. It was more an "ego trip" for the mayor and not really a "tour of Nome".

Denali Park Village has mediocre food…

Denali Park Village has mediocre food and accommodations, at best. The service was very good, however. The company that provided our short airplane ride kept us waiting and took another group (scheduled 2 hours after our group) before us. The result was a shorter ride with fewer expansive views to see. Otherwise, the trip was well-planned and scheduled.

Our trip was well laid out

Our trip was well laid out. In addition, when some small issues popped up they were responsive about handling things (kayaking cancelled due to weather-they got us rescheduled for the next day...).

Our Alaska experience was wonderful

Our Alaska experience was wonderful. The Golden Dome train exceeded expectations. I highly recommend it. The Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, the Lakefront Anchorage Lodge and the Harbor 360 Hotel in Seward were all great lodges, each with their unique ambience and spectacular views. The Denali Park Village hotel was good, but their shuttle was slow to pick up arriving passengers. Denali Bluffs Hotel was average. All three boat rides: Mahay's Jet Boat, McKinley Run and Kenai Fjords Natl Park Cruise were great -we highly recommend. And don't miss the tram ride in Girdwood. Thank you Explore Tours. We had a great time and couldn't have done it without you.

My Nome and Teller Day Tour - local guide failed to show up.

My Nome and Teller Day Tour, booked through Explore Tours was a complete failure because the local guide never showed up to pick me up at the predetermined start point and time. I contacted the local tour operator's office and found out that the guide had failed to notice my name on the tour manifest and had already left with the other individuals scheduled for the tour that day. He called me at the end of the day to apologize, which I appreciated. Though perhaps an honest mistake, it was complete failure on the part of the local tour operator to meet their contracted obligations and I expect a full refund for services not rendered.

Great tours!

We enjoyed several days of tours that were very interesting and scenic. Tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. All tours were as described in itinerary. We especially liked the small group touring.

Unbelievable experience with Explore…

Unbelievable experience with Explore Tours—two weeks in Alaska with many components. Two different trains, hotels, the car rentals, multiple excursions... all flawless due to Heidi and Explore Tours. As a travel agent who used them fir my personal travel too, I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Alaska Trip

We visited Alaska and were very impressed how detailed and organized the itinerary was from Explore Tours. Everything went off without a hitch.

Alaska land excursion

Difficulty picking up rental car because it was not shown on invoice that the vehicle had been paid for. Accommodations and all excursions were to our satisfaction. Dining and extra excursion recommendations were on point.

Cheers to the next adventure and we’re here to make the third visit a seamless and comfortable experience when you’re ready. Safe exploring!

Outstanding Experience

We had an outstanding experience with our reservations made by Explore Tours. Everything went smoothly, and it was nice to have hotels and transportation already paid for.

Amazing Adventure Viewing the Auroras

Roberta did a fantastic job planning my small group adventure to Fairbanks and Chena Hot Springs. Everything worked out perfectly, even the Northern Lights made a debut during our stay. I will definitely refer other guests to Explore Tours for their Great North Adventures. Thank you!

June 2018 was our third trip to Alaska…

June 2018 was our third trip to Alaska planned with Explore Tours. Each time we found the staff to be knowledgeable, professional, flexible, and timely. Our first two trips were exactly what we wanted and went without a hitch. Our third trip was also exactly what we wanted however we had a hitch on the first leg of our adventure, a hitch which was promptly solved by the Explore Tour staff. Specifically, when we arrive in Anchorage, we discovered our flight to Valdez was cancelled due to weather. We called Explore Tours and told them the situation. They told us they would call back within 15 minutes. They did call back within 15 minutes after they had made an Anchorage hotel reservation for us for the night, canceled our first night's hotel reservation in Valdez and confirmed the 2nd and 3rd nights' stay, and changed our glacier cruise reservation to a day later. They gave us all of this information via telephone and followed up with an email. We were impressed with their prompt, thorough, friendly and professional response. We will return to Alaska again and when we decide to do so, we will use Explore Tours. We recommend them highly.

Thank you for the great review, Janice, and for taking the time to share your experience with other readers. You did have an authentic Alaska experience, in that Mother Nature certainly influences what happens around here. We’re glad that we could be your local resource for some quick problem solving and support to keep the vacation rolling. You took time to visit some fantastic destinations in Alaska, many of which are off the beaten path and off the road system for that matter. A true Alaska adventure most certainly! Also, thank you for taking the time to call and share some of your highlights, feedback, and suggestions after your travels. It’s that kind of collaboration that helps ensure that travel experiences only continue to improve. Happy travels, wherever exploring takes you next!

We expected the cabin at Grizzly Bear Resort to have a kitchenette or at least a small fridge. It was really did not have anything extra then a hotel room. Love the Talkeetna Cabin and the Phantom fishing. The tour plan was great giving you time to drive to your next destination. Alaska was beautiful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whilst internal flights are covered for certain itineraries, you will have to make your way to the meeting point for the start of your tour. When booking flights be mindful of departure times and possible delays. Tip: We suggest that you start comparing prices the moment your deposit is paid to avoid costly flights.

We have a set minimum age of 10 for our tours, but we're happy to consider younger children on a case-by-case basis. Just let us know your request, and we'll do our best to accommodate it. Expat Explore reserves the right to accept or decline the request at our discretion. We want to ensure everyone has a great time exploring with us!

We make every effort to include local cuisine on our tours to ensure an authentic experience for you. You'll receive an email before the tour begins, where we'll ask for your dietary preferences. We always have a vegetarian option, and we'll work hard to accommodate any other dietary needs or preferences you may have.

Contactless payment is widely accepted across Europe – it’s best to bring a payment card with no overseas withdrawal fees. * Keep in mind that certain optionals are payable in cash to your tour leader whilst on tour. We suggest that you talk to your Tour Leader about when & where to draw cash to pay for the optional excursions.

While Expat Explore cannot assist with booking pre or post-tour accommodation, we recommend Booking.com for affordable accommodation options prior to and after the tour. If hotel information is available, we can provide you with the details in advance so that you can book accommodation at or nearby the start hotel. Please request this by sending a message through on the conversation page.

While Expat Explore endeavours to stay current on all major entry requirements, we are not a registered visa agent. We are, however, able to make things a little easier by providing you with the required supporting documents for a visa application once your tour is paid in full. It is a requirement of the embassies that tours are paid for in full before visa support documentation is requested and applications are made. When you have made the final payment for your booking, simply reach out to our Customer Support Team to request your visa support documents and confirm which embassy you will be applying to.

This is up to you and will vary depending on how much you wish to spend on snacks, drinks, souvenirs etc. We do not include entrance fees to attractions and museums. We do, however, provide you with free time to see everything you want, and our tour leaders will have all the information on pricing and locations so you can manage your own budget. Please refer to your tour-specific pre-departure information and optional excursions guide for further details.

It's your responsibility to arrange sufficient travel insurance for your trip. When you travel with Expat Explore, both you and your personal belongings do so at your own risk. A comprehensive insurance policy should cover medical expenses for illness or accidents before or during the holiday, as well as reimbursement for lost holiday funds due to cancellation, curtailment, or other insurable events. Make sure there are no exclusions that would limit coverage for the activities included in your tour. We generally recommend WorldNomads because they cover a wide variety of nationalities, but you are welcome to use any supplier that offers you the most comprehensive plan. You are able to obtain travel insurance through one of TourRadars partners, XCover. Please reach out to receive a quote.

We embrace travelers of all ages and backgrounds, prioritizing attitude and mindset over age restrictions. However, our tours are fast-paced and jam-packed with experiences. Regrettably, individuals with mobility limitations or those using wheelchairs may find this tour challenging. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring quaint towns and navigating cobblestone streets. We want every traveler to fully enjoy their journey, so we encourage reviewing the itinerary carefully before making your booking decision.

When you book for more than one person, we will by default group you together in the same room(s), unless you request single supplements or specifically request us not to. If there are unequal numbers (3, 5, 7 etc.) then the remaining traveller will be roomed with another passenger of the same gender, unless you opt to add a single supplement (subject to availability) to your booking. Please note that minors under the age of 18 cannot share with another traveller outside of your group's booking. If you are making separate bookings and would like to share the same room(s), please send us an email with the booking references for each of the travellers and the details of your preferred rooming allocation.

The winery is also home to the exceptional Jonkershuis restaurant, where guests can savor elevated cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. Families with young kids won’t want to miss the Kids Carnival area, providing an entertaining space for children to enjoy while their parents explore the estate’s acclaimed outdoor art collection.

Stellenbosch is best discovered via walking tour so you can see first hand the lovely Cape Dutch ... [+] architecture, art scene and lively street life.

Stellenbosch On Foot

Stellenbosch is not just the name of an acclaimed wine region, it’s also a beautiful city with a fascinating history and vibrant art and food scene. It’s worth spending the time to get to know this bucolic university town and one of the best ways to do so is via a walking tour. Led by knowledgeable guides like Juliana, Stellenbosch on Foot offers a historic tour that gives participants an intimate look at Stellenbosch's stately, oak-lined avenues, interesting historic personalities and iconic Cape Dutch architecture.

As you stroll through the "village of the oaks," your enthusiastic guide shares fascinating stories and insights into one of South Africa’s key historic urban centers. Guides also freely dispense insider advice on the best not-to-be-missed eateries, local shops and picturesque streets during the pleasant promenade. Art-focused walking tours (Stellenbosch is one of the country’s premier art centers and has stunning displays peppered throughout) are also available.

Kayamandi Township Tour

Discover a different side to Stellenbosch as you explore Kayamandi, the second oldest township in the country. The walking tour of Kayamandi, which means "nice home" in Xhosa, is done with a local guide and provides guests with a unique insight into the area’s complex and dynamic history and culture. Highlights include street art, the chance to meet local entrepreneurs and sampling traditional foods. Also considering signing up for the Djembe drumming session.

It may be worth hiring a professional driver to navigate South Africa's most celebrated wine region.

Oswald Tours

When visiting the winelands, it’s important to keep in mind that there is no viable public transportation and renting a car can be difficult for those who want to go on several wine tastings and are not used to driving on the left side of the road. That where Oswald Tours comes in. The company offers affordable and reliable personalized chauffeur services, ensuring that you can enjoy your wine tastings and explore the region in comfort. Their knowledgeable, friendly drivers (like Francois) are equally as skilled at driving safely as they are at providing insightful and engaging commentary about the wine region’s' rich history and culture. The company also offer airport pickups, as well as a variety of pre-set tours like Cape Town and whale watching.

Disappointing

We paid the same amount as everybody else, and my son ended up in a room with two single beds instead of doubles. So he ended up on an oversized CHAIR - absolutely ridiculous!!!!!! Not to mention it said, meals included, LUNCH is a meal and was NOT included. Very very upset, disappointed, and will absolutely never recommend this company to anybody. I have three more boys coming through the school. I will be advocating for a different company. Very upset parent to say the least!

EF has the ability to fill all my needs.

EF has the ability to fill all my needs. They cover all the areas of interest and provide travel, security and meals. I just have to show up and make the most of my time with my students to help them experience Washington and expand their minds.

Engaging and fun!

Everything went smoothly, the places we visited were interesting and our tour guide (Dionne) made them intriguing and exciting for the students. This was my first time taking students on this type of trip and EF guided every step and kept communicating on best practices and what to do next.

My daughter had a wonderful trip, but flight situation could of been better.

My daughter had a wonderful trip. The flight situation could of been better. Would of preferred non-stop flights. Also, the time of the flights were way too early for departure and way too late for arriving back home. In my opinion, leaving a day earlier or leaving a day later to avoid terrible flight times would be better.

We understand the importance of convenient flight times and will take your suggestions into consideration for future trip planning. Seamless process

Working with Devon has been wonderful. This is my first time utilizing EF for a Washing D.C. tour. and she has been very proactive in the onboarding process for my families. I look forward to working with EF.

Amazing trip from start to finish!

Amazing trip from start to finish! Everything we did in a short amount of time was astounding. Our tour director Patrick C. was amazing!!! He made the trip what it was his personality, energy, compassion, knowledge, attention to every detail was unmatched. It’s not an easy feat and he executed it seamlessly. The emotions felt from the historical experience were so intense and my daughter and I will cherish this memory forever.

Date of experience : April 22, 2024

Activities cancelled

According to the places they were supposed to visit there were some that had cancel. I didn’t sent my daughter to go visit Macy’s instead of going to Central Park for example.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation of certain activities during the trip. We understand the disappointment when plans change unexpectedly. Your feedback is valuable, and we will use it to improve our future tour experiences. If you have any further concerns or would like to discuss this matter in more detail, please feel free to reach out to us.

JT’s trip to Virginia, DC and NY April ‘24

My son had a great experience and learned a lot on this Virginia, Washington DC and NY trip. He enjoyed highlighting and showing us many photos of places he visited. However, I took away a STAR ⭐️ because the Til card provided and handed out to students should have been kept with student and NOT returned. My son still had $$ on card. With that said, WE paid a great amount in order for him to go on this trip, therefore that daily allowance not spent should have been left in his possession. If not, refunded back to account created!!

Date of experience : April 17, 2024

We're thrilled to hear that your son had such a positive experience and gained valuable insights during his trip to Virginia, Washington DC, and New York. It's wonderful that he enjoyed sharing highlights and photos of his journey with you. We appreciate your feedback regarding the Till card. We'll certainly take this into consideration for future trips to ensure a smoother experience for all participants. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we hope to welcome your son on another adventure with us soon!

My daughter had a great time

My daughter had a great time. What a fabulous opportunity to get a little taste of independence in a fun and safe environment. To be able to learn some history lessons, experience city life and travel is a great gift to give a child. As a teenager she came home with nothing negative to say. That is saying something.

Great experience, just too much going on

My child had a wonderful time and it was an unforgettable experience! The only thing I would change is maybe give the kids more time on the trip or maybe not add as much “things to do” since I feel like they cram as much as they can in 5 days and the kids are just exhausted. It just seems like they’re doing too much with such little time and don’t get as much “quality” time. Other than that, it was a simple process and they had a lot of fun.

Date of experience : April 20, 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We're delighted to hear that your child had a wonderful time and found the experience unforgettable. Your input is valuable to us, and we appreciate your participation in our programs.

Itinerary was great

Itinerary was great. However, the red eye flights from the west coast to east coast connecting in DFW was terrible for the kids and chaperones. A direct flight would have been a much better option.

Date of experience : April 13, 2024

We appreciate your feedback on the itinerary. While we strive to provide efficient travel arrangements, we understand that red-eye flights can be challenging, especially for younger travelers. We'll take your suggestion into account for future trip planning to ensure a more comfortable and convenient travel experience for everyone involved. Thank you for sharing your insights with us.

Rain or Shine

This was a trip for my granddaughter. This was a lot of First for her, First Flight, First School trip among some other things. Hotel accommodation was very nice. Very wonderful Tour Guide and Bus driver. I wasn’t excited about 4 students sharing room with 2 beds given they were complete strangers. EF meal planning could have been better given the price of the Trip. Overall it was a Fantastic experience for Both Myself and My Granddaughter, She’s Ready for Her next Trip not Me.

Date of experience : March 30, 2024

We're delighted to hear that your granddaughter had such a memorable first experience with us, from her first flight to her firstl school trip. It's excellent to know that she enjoyed the hotel accommodations and had a fantastic time with our tour guide and bus driver. Please know it's standard for students to share beds and rooms together on our trips. However, we do offer an option to upgrade for those who prefer to have their own bed. Regarding meal planning, we appreciate your feedback and will take it into account for future trips. Thank you for sharing your positive experience, and we look forward to welcoming your granddaughter on her next adventure with us!

Great experience

My son enjoyed the trip and had so much fun that he could have stayed longer. From a parent’s point of view, everything went smoothly. My daughter can’t wait to go in a couple of years after hearing her brother’s experience.

The tour guide

The tour guide, Mr. James Carter, did an outstanding job; he knew everything about the places we visited, engaged with the students very well, and asked for input The tour program was excellent the lunch program needs improvement,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We're thrilled to hear that James did an outstanding job as your tour guide, providing valuable insights and engaging with the students effectively. We're also glad to hear that you found the tour program to be excellent. We appreciate your feedback regarding the lunch program and will take it into consideration as we strive to continuously improve our tour experiences. If you have any further suggestions or questions, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to welcoming you on more adventures in the future!

Highly recommended!

EF works with group leaders to meet their needs. Their tours are led by locals which give an authentic experience. I have traveled with my students on EF tours since 2013 with no regrets. I recently went on my first domestic tour to Puerto Rico. It was diverse, educational, and fun! We truly experienced the culture. I highly recommend EF!

Date of experience : April 14, 2024

We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to many more wonderful adventures together in the future!

Amazing tour guide!

Our tour guide, Lisa B, was amazing! She knew how to keep the kids engaged and she was able to flawlessly change up our itinerary due to unexpected weather conditions. Thank you!

Date of experience : April 03, 2024

Great tour! Could be more flexible

Really excellent tour! Guides handled the itinerary well, were super knowledgeable, and took care of all the money and ticket stuff, which was nice. I do wish we adjusted to the rain and cold a little more. Instead of walking 70 Jr High students through the rain for 5hrs, we could have driven through some landmarks/sites, or split the group and made the outdoor walking part optional. Pre-trip travel plan adjustment process was unclear, difficult, and shockingly expensive.

Date of experience : April 08, 2024

Thank you for your positive feedback on our tour guides and itinerary! We appreciate your suggestions regarding adjusting to weather conditions and pre-trip travel plan adjustments. We'll review our processes to ensure clarity and affordability in the future. Thank you for being part of the EF Explore America family- we hope to welcome you on another tour soon!

The trip was well organized with well…

The trip was well organized with well thought out attractions and an excellent guide. She was very enjoyable to be around and she also taught us a lot. This trip had good security and there were the occasional mishaps, but it didn’t affect the trip in any dire way. This trip really helped us create stronger bonds with community as we all were able to travel and learn new things.

Date of experience : April 10, 2024

It's wonderful to hear that you had such a positive experience on your tour! We're thrilled that you found the attractions well thought out and enjoyed the guidance of your excellent tour guide. Building stronger bonds within the community through travel and learning is exactly what we aim for, and we're delighted that your journey facilitated this. Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we look forward to helping you create more memorable experiences in the future!

Great 8th Grade Trip

Great 8th Grade Trip. My daughter had a great trip to DC/NYC and the tour guides were wonderful. I just wish our school did a better job of advertising this trip even though there was a limit of how many kids could go. I would also pay a little extra to have the kids fly non-stop (having a direct) flight to their destination instead of having to deal with connecting flights. But in the end the made to the destination and made it back home in one piece. Everyone had a great time and learned some new things while seeing great historical sites.

Date of experience : April 06, 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Gloria! We're thrilled to hear that your daughter had a great trip and that the tour guides were wonderful. We understand the importance of convenient travel arrangements and appreciate your suggestion regarding non-stop flights. We'll certainly take that into consideration for future trips. It's fantastic to hear that everyone had a great time and learned new things while exploring historical sites. If you have any further suggestions or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to welcoming your daughter on more unforgettable adventures in the future!
