How to use Safari’s suggested passwords feature
Your email has been sent
From the office of “Why haven’t other browsers thought of this?” comes a feature found in the Safari browser that other browsers might want to consider. The feature is called Suggested passwords. This built-in tool offers you a strong, random password you can use, when creating a new login for a site or service. To make this feature even more appealing, the suggested password will then be stored in your iCloud Keychain, so you don’t have to write down that strong password (which you shouldn’t do) or memorize it (which you would have trouble doing). Effectively, what Safari offers (in conjunction with iCloud) is a built-in password manager. You might scoff at this notion, but it works and it works well.
Let me show you how to make use of this Safari browser feature. If you’re a user of Safari, and you don’t currently use a password manager, I highly suggest allowing this feature into your daily routine.
How to get a suggested password
This is really, really simple. When you land on a site (using Safari, of course) that requires a password, click on the password section of the login and you’ll see a key drop-down ( Figure A ).
Click on the drop-down and then click Suggest New Password. The drop-down will reveal a Safari-suggested password ( Figure B ). If you choose to use that password, click on it and it will automatically paste into the password section of the login and then saved to your iCloud Keychain.
That’s all there is to getting and using a password. Now we have to retrieve it.
Retrieving your password
Hopefully, you didn’t have Safari save that password. Why? Because that’s not safe. Anyone with access to your laptop would then have access to that site. So don’t allow Safari to save the newly-generated, strong and random password. You can, however, have that password saved to your iCloud Keychain (which you should, unless you’re using a third-party password manager).
That being the case, how do you recall that too-complicated-to-be-memorized password? That’s where iCloud comes in. Thanks to iCloud, those passwords will be automatically synced to your keychain on your macOS device. Here’s how to retrieve it.
- Click on the Launchpad icon on the dock.
- Search for keychain.
- Click on the Keychain Access entry.
- Click on the iCloud entry in the left pane.
- Locate the login you want to reveal.
- Double-click on the entry in question.
- In the resulting window ( Figure C ), click Show password.
- When prompted, enter your local (macOS) user password.
- Enjoy your newly-revealed password.
And that, my friends, is how you make use of the suggested passwords feature built into Safari and iCloud. With this user friendly tool, there’s no longer an excuse to not use a password manager on your macOS devices. Besides, the time for using memorizable, easy passwords is over. Now’s the time to start working with very challenging passwords that are harder to crack. Keep your use accounts safe with the help of Safari’s suggested passwords.

How to Use and Store Safari Password Suggestions
If you use Google Chrome on your computer, you’re probably familiar with a browser's ability to save your password for login websites. But did you know that Safari on iOS has the ability to suggest passwords for you? And Safari will then store the secure password for later use. This is an awesome feature, because not only does Safari create a far more secure password than your dog’s name plus your birthday, but it stores the password so you don’t need to remember it too. Here’s how to get a Safari password suggestion.
Open a website you want to create a new account with. For our example, we’ll use the Insider subscription for iPhone Life. Tap Sign-up on whichever website you’re creating an account for. When you tap to fill in the Password field, you’ll see Suggest Password. Select that.

How to stop Safari from suggesting strong password
I do no want this feature enabled. I do want my regular password to be used so turning to auto fill-in is not an option. How can i turn this off?
This is particularly frustrating when filling in random forms and safari adds a "strong password" into the fields even though a password may not have even been asked for and I need to delete it making the process of filling in the form slower.

How to Use Automatic Strong Passwords and Password Auditing in iOS 12
In iOS 12, Apple has introduced new password-related features that are designed to make it easier for iPhone and iPad users to create strong, secure, and unique passwords for app and website logins. In this guide, we'll show you how to use two of those features: automatic strong passwords and password auditing.
How to Use Automatic Strong Passwords in iOS 12
- Launch Safari and navigate to the site asking you to create new login credentials, or launch a third-party app asking you to sign up for a new account.
- Tap Use Strong Password to accept the password suggestion and save it to your iCloud Keychain.
Pro tip: Next time you need one of your passwords, you can ask Siri. For example, you could say: "Siri, show me my BBC password." Siri will then open up your iCloud Keychain with the relevant entry, but only after you authenticate your identity with a fingerprint, a Face ID scan, or a passcode.
How to Identify Reused Passwords in iOS 12
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Authenticate via Touch ID, Face ID, or your passcode.
- Tap Change Password on Website to open the associated website and make the change.
Note that the last screen shows you on which other websites you've used the same password.
Pro tip: You can share passwords with other people directly from the iOS Password Manager via AirDrop. Simply tap the password field and an option to AirDrop the login will appear. The login can be AirDropped to any device running iOS 12 or macOS Mojave.

I prefer not to use automatically generated passwords because they eventually are reversed engineered.
As long as it doesn't force me to use excessively long and confusing passwords, I'm ok with this. I know many sites, institute insanely long and complex passwords so this may be helpful
Can you edit that strong password? There are a lot of stupid websites that don’t take passwords longer than 10 characters or accept the dashes.
If it doesn’t exist already, this will be a feature of future password managers. It would be trivial to screen-scrape and/or keep a database of password requirements, and generate a compliant password based on that knowledge.

How to use the password manager in safari on iphone or ipad.
If you use Safari on your iPad or iPhone, you can store website passwords and then manage them using the Passwords settings.
Quick Links
Using the passwords manager on safari for ios.
If you use Safari on your iPad or iPhone, you can store website passwords and then manage them using the Passwords settings. The passwords manager on iOS is easy to use, and one of the best we've found on mobile devices.
We know that having and using a passwords manager is all but a necessity on any computer or mobile device. For one, if you're even moderately security conscious, you are probably using strong passwords . Unfortunately, typing strong passwords on a mobile device (assuming a password with upper and lower-case letter, numbers, and symbols) is kind of a pain.
You might also change things up from website to website. It goes without saying that you shouldn't use the same password twice (easier said than done), so you need to exercise your memory in order to have a unique password for every single website.
To that end, if you use an iPhone or iPad, then Safari already includes an excellent, robust passwords manager, which we'll show and explain to you today.
Access the passwords manager by first opening the "Settings" on your iOS device. Scroll to and tap open "Safari" in the left column, then tap open the "Passwords" category.
Before you can access your passwords, you will need to verify your identity using Touch ID . On older devices that don't have Touch ID, you will need to enter your passcode.
Every account on your device will be shown. Your passwords won't appear, instead you will only see the user ID associated with each account. Notice that there's an arrow on the right edge of each account row.
Tap open any account and you will now see your user name, password, and the associated website.
Tap the "Edit" button in the upper-right corner and you can edit everything or delete the account from your device.
Back on the main passwords screen, tap the "Edit" button in the upper-right corner and notice that a selection circle appears to the left of each account row.
With the edit option enabled, you can select multiple accounts at once. The advantage to this is that you can go through all of your accounts and select the ones you no longer have or want stored, then simply tap the "Delete" button in the upper-left corner.
You don't have to actually access each account to copy your user name and password to the clipboard. From the passwords screen, you can long-press and the option for both will appear on a context menu.
We'd be remiss if we didn't point out that you can tap open the "Search" field.
When you do this, the keyboard will appear and you can then tap a few characters to find the account or user name you're seeking.
Finally, we need to point out that your passwords are saved to iCloud so they're available on all your iOS devices. If you simply want to prevent Safari information from being synced to iCloud, then tap off the button next to it in the iCloud settings.
If you want to turn off iCloud Keychain syncing, then your Safari information such as bookmarks and history will still be synced but passwords will not.
The passwords manager for Safari on iOS is clearly one of the easiest to use and you can quickly transfer information from it to other browser logins.
While we can't recommend copying sensitive information like this as plain text to your device's clipboard, it can make things substantially easier. Just be advised that doing so is a security risk.
We hope you found this article helpful and you now feel comfortable managing website user accounts and passwords on your iPhone or iPad. If you have any questions or comments, we invite you to leave your feedback in our discussion forum.

This is where iCloud Keychain in iOS 13 comes to rescue. It safely stores all your passcodes and also helps you to automatically generate a strong password on the iPhone or iPad. Let’s move on.

New ‘dangerous’ iphone spyware attack warning issued to ios users.

Apple iPhone users have been issued a new warning after security researchers found a prolific and dangerous spyware campaign has returned. Researchers from security outfit and former smartphone giant BlackBerry discovered a spyware campaign dubbed “LightSpy” targeting iPhone users in Southern Asia and “probably India.”
It comes after Apple issued a spyware warning last week, with iPhone users in 92 countries receiving alerts to indicate their device may have been compromised. The LightSpy campaign ties in with this warning, with iPhones in India being targeted, submissions from malware analysis website VirusTotal show.
Researchers from BlackBerry discovered a spyware campaign dubbed “LightSpy” targeting iPhone users ... [+] in Southern Asia and “probably India.”
The location of the iPhone spyware campaign potentially indicates “a renewed focus on political targets and tensions in the region,” according to the blog posted by the BlackBerry researchers.
LightSpy is “particularly dangerous” because it can allow an attacker to locate their target with “near-perfect accuracy,” the BlackBerry researchers said.
What is LightSpy iPhone spyware?
It’s not the first time LightSpy has been discovered. The iPhone spyware—described as a “sophisticated iOS implant,” was first reported in 2020 amid rising political tensions in Hong Kong.
Love Is Blind Alum Brett Brown Says You Need These 3 Things To Pivot Careers
Huawei’s pura 70 ultra beats iphone with pioneering new feature, sh gun episode 10 review a powerful finale but not what i was expecting.
The latest iteration of LightSpy has more extensive spying features than the first, the researchers said.
“Specifically, it is a fully-featured modular surveillance toolset that primarily focuses on exfiltrating victims’ private information, including hyper-specific location data and sound recording during voice over IP (VOIP) calls.”
LightSpy possesses modules designed to exfiltrate iPhone device information and saved files, including data from popular messenger applications such as QQ, WeChat, and Telegram. It also has a plugin capable of crawling the payment history of the victim from WeChat Pay (Weixin Pay in China).
The iPhone spyware can access a user’s contacts, SMS messages, phone call history, GPS location, connected WiFi history and the browser history of Safari and Chrome. “This comprehensive set of features can turn a user’s infected phone into a potent spying device,” the researchers warned.
Evidence such as code comments and error messages strongly suggest the attackers behind LightSpy are native Chinese speakers, raising concerns about potential state-sponsored activity, BlackBerry’s researchers said.
New iPhone Spyware Warning—The Risk
It’s a scary warning and something that all iPhone users should be careful of. However, spyware tends to target a specific subset of users.
“Though typically deployed against a very small percentage of individuals—most usually journalists, activists, politicians and diplomats—hyper-focused spyware attacks are an ongoing and global threat,” BlackBerry researchers warned.
Any iPhone users who fit into this category can use Apple’s super-secure anti-spyware tool Lockdown Mode to help prevent an attack.
Spyware itself is very hard to detect, but signs your iPhone could be compromised include a very hot or a slowed device. It’s worth noting that if you switch off your iPhone, it can sometimes disrupt spyware temporarily.
In the case of LightSpy, BlackBerry reckons initial infection likely occurs through compromised news websites carrying stories related to Hong Kong. Therefore, be very careful of the sites you visit and links you click on your iPhone. Only download from sources you trust.
The most important thing here is to ensure you always update your iPhone to the latest software, in this case iOS 17.4.1 , by visiting Settings > General > Software Update and downloading and installing it now.
