The Hero of Skill - Part Two

Shadow Court

Let the glowing trail lead you through the Shadow Court. After going down some stairs, look to your left for a weak wall that you can break down, revealing a treasure chest with, we found, a Troll Strength Potion . Just a bit further into the cave, watch out for little shadow hobbes that blend into the darkness.

Fable2 b12 069.jpg

A bit beyond the first batch of baddies, look along the left wall for a boarded-up section that you can tear through to reach another chest. The next obstacle you run into is a hall with a spiked floor. The spikes move up and down in alternating patches—if you're careful, you can pretty easily move forward one section at a time without needing to slow time or anything. At the end of the hall is a chest in plain view, inside which we found a Pure Experience Extract .

Fable2 b12 079.jpg

The next hall leads to a relatively large, blue-hued room. On the left wall is another weak section you can break down to find a Silver Key . Before you can open the door out of this room you'll need to clear it off the shadow enemies You start fighting a few shadow hobbes, then graduate to shadow hollow men and eventually end up fighting a few batches of shadow balverines. Ample use of the Raise Dead and large radius effect Will skills will help out immensely.

Fable2 b12 092.jpg

With the room cleared and the doorway open, drop into the hole ahead and you'll come to a chamber with a crying woman and a trio of Shadow Judges. They give you the option of sacrificing yourself or the stranger. As you might guess, sacrificing yourself is the good option while giving the seal to the stranger is the evil option. Step into the glowing ring before the judges and either do nothing to sacrifice yourself or press a button to give the seal to the woman.

Fable2 b12 112.jpg

You're now done here, so follow the glowing trail out of the Shadow Court. Along the way, you'll run into (pretty much literally) a chest inside which we found a Concentrated Will Potion . Grab the loot and continue out to Wraithmarsh so you can get back to Bloodstone and talk to Reaver.

12. Fable II DLC: See the Future

Murgo is standing by the Bowerstone Market docks. Listen to his speech about how he's been receiving things from somebody and is interested in eventually getting an item that lets you see into the future. He first needs some help removing some curses from some of the items he has. You will also get the (01/10) Murgo "Pay Me" Model , one of ten in a set that we need to get for an achievement. In addition are Traders' Game, an expression manual for the expression Hat, Headband, Moustache, and Dog Tricks! The Backflip. Use these two expression books to work towards the base game achievement called The Completionist .

When you're ready to start the story, buy Murgo's cursed snowglobe for 5G. Go to the miscellaneous tab of your items list and use the snowglobe to warp into it.

The Snowglobe

There are two sets of collectibles in this DLC. We've already talked about one, being a set of ten models of Murgo. The other is a set of dye. The last dye is particularly hard to get but the achievement can be cheesed if you collect all but the final dye, then do a little extra work. The method to obtain it normally will also be present for those who missed the opportunity to cheese it.

Anyways, we're in a snowglobe, kinda. We'll do some exploring later, so just follow the golden trail until you find three blue shadows. Since they're blue, they can only be hurt by physical attacks. Take the key the man gives you and use it to open a nearby house with a blue door. Save the next man and mess with a flit switch to proceed past a gate. The trail will take us to a well. Inside the well, pass through some tight spaces, then look behind a pillar of stone on your left when the area starts to open up a little. It's a (02/10) Murgo "Chicken" Model , your lucky day! Your dog will also identify this as treasure.

The well is a pretty easy place to get through; just shoot switches and kill shadows like usual. Make sure your magic is an offensive one after leaving the well as red shadows will appear just past the yellow gate. Notably, your dog will find a dig spot just outside the building here, the Shadow Court. Dig up the hero doll - this is indeed one of the six dolls related to the infamous achievement, so hold on to it or find someone to give it to if you already have the achievement.

Past the court, look at the tree in the middle of some houses and run past the houses towards the beach in the distance. Run east along the coast (when running to the beach, you were facing south) and pick up the (03/10) Murgo "Dancing" Model . Next, continue following the golden trail until you pass over a stone bridge above some seemingly shallow water. Dive into the water and use the dive spot underneath the bridge to warp to a new area, finding the (04/10) Murgo "Dismissive" Model on the edge of a cliff. Drop down and zap away the red shadows harassing a school mistress, then look around the beach-village area for five children. One child is in the houses here, then the next near the coast. The third is in a house on the west side of the area, though the shadow might be on the back side of the house. The fourth is on the coast again and the fifth is further west along the coast. Return to the mistress to get a red seal - this can probably be used to enter the Shadow Court!

Follow the golden trail down, then make a left. At the next turn, look right instead and break open a cracked wall. Behind it is the last statuette in the snowglobe, the (05/10) Murgo "Begging" Model . Get to the bottom of the shadow court by defeating more shadows, then kill the cultists with their respective type of move. This will restore color back to the whole of Wraithmarsh -- no, Oakvale -- the snowglobe. Before we leave the snowglobe (we can't fast travel out right now), let's find the five dyes hidden inside the snowglobe so we don't have to come back later.

Let's first go back into the Shadow Court. Return to the cracked wall where you found the Murgo "Begging" Model, then turn left and go directly ahead to find a chest you could not open previously. This contains (01/10) Cursed Grey Dye .

Do not sell any dyes or you will be unable to earn the dye-related achievement.

Next, manually leave the Shadow Court and go back to the school mistress' house. Continue walking past it and make a left to find (02/10) Well Red Dye in another chest. Our next dye is in the well, unfortunately. Kill the shadows in your way and dive once again into the second half of the well's interior. If you jump off a ledge after diving, you're going the wrong way - look for a room with a bunch of standing armor and open the chest in this room to get the (03/10) Jaunty Jaundice Dye . Two more dyes left and they're easy to get - let's follow the golden trail out of the well and towards the wheat fields from earlier. Enter the house by the wheat field and finish the flit switch's targeting until it leads to another switch, then another, and finally a chest. This chest contains an invitation that lets you into a house near the well with a signpost in front of it. Use the mirror on the upper floor of this house and pick up the (04/10) Gory Glory Red Dye from a stone pedestal. Use the mirror to go back, then return to the wheat fields once again. The last dye is simply in a chest in a windmill past the fields. This is the (05/10) Performer's Blue Dye . Nice, we're halfway done with both sets of collectibles!

Return to Murgo just up the path and hear him talk about his next item, a cursed skull. Buy it for 5G.

The Costume Party

The cursed skull is also in the miscellaneous tab of your items list. Use it, then look to your left and pick up the (06/10) Murgo "Sycophantic" Model from behind some pillars. In front of a creepy skull statue, the voice of a cursed knight will speak to you. First he'll ask you to lure the wisps of hollow men over to him. As soon as you step onto the path surrounded by tombs, open the first one on the left and open the sarcophagus inside. Our first dye for the skull, the (06/10) Wisp White Dye , is inside. Open the sarcophagus the golden trail is pointing to, then put on the hollow man costume. Perform a bloodlust roar to the stone statue in front of the nearby gate while wearing the costume. Approach the tomb the trail takes you to, then go down the path and cut down some plants in the distance. The (07/10) Murgo "Slanderous" Model lies just up ahead. Backtrack out of here and follow the trail until you see a gate to the right. Turn sharply left, then make another left when you can to get the (08/10) Murgo "Tickled Pink" Model .

Defeat a bunch of balverines, including a new poison variant, then open the chest behind the gate and pick up the balverine suit. Follow the trail to the tomb, then growl at the balverine statue to open it. Pop open that sarcophagus in the tomb to find (07/10) Balverine Brown Dye . Switch to the hollow man suit and take the wisps over to the cursed knight, then follow the trail towards another statue to growl at. Defeat some hobbes down near the entrance to a cave. If you dig up a dye outside the cave, this is actually a base game dye and not one that we're looking for.

Enter the Mysterious Cave and kill some more hobbes. When the knight shows you where the last costume is, count the wooden bridges on the way up. Jump down on the left side of the third bridge to find a chest containing (08/10) Night Blue Dye . Make your way back up to the top and take the hobbe costume. Next, go to the fourth wooden bridge (the one right before the hobbe costume chest) and drop down to the right. This path takes you to the (09/10) Murgo "Optimistic" Model . You are now free to take the hobbe costume and walk next to the statue. This will spawn a spooky hobbe that will blow up the rock in the distance if you get close to it. Kill more hobbes by some poison swamp water, then use one of the statues to break another rock. This will give you access to a hobbe-on-stilts statue that releases a ghost that can cross the swamp water. Cross the water yourself once the button is pressed, then shoot a red barrel next to some wooden junk and cross some water over to our final statue, the (10/10) Murgo "Mad Trader" Model .

You, or a friend, managed to find all of Murgo's statuettes. A career in swindling beckons.

The Con Artist

A new hand touches The Beacon. Open the one chest here to find (09/10) Ethical Green Dye . Time to get out of here! Let's follow the golden trail back to the exit to Bowerstone Market.

Keep the three costumes you have been given in this quest. We'll use them for achievements in just a second.

Talk to Murgo and use the Spire statue.

Walk to the person here and take their hand to see a vision of the future. This future hints towards the events of Fable III . You'll receive a royal outfit from your friend and Murgo will give you a second object for free, a colosseum statue.

You have seen what is to come. But will you be ready for the future when it arrives?

The Visionary

Before you use this item for the first time, make sure you have all the dyes except the one found in the colosseum. Save your game before entering the colosseum.

Intermission: Costume Quest

It is now time to pop a few achievements related to the costumes you received in the previous quest. Get a decently-sized crowd around you by playing the lute or just using general expressions. Switch to your hobbe costume and use the sock puppet or fart expressions to make at least five people laugh at once.

Nothing makes people laugh more than hobbes dressed as heroes. Except Heroes dressed as hobbes.

The Ghastly Jester

Switch immediately to your hollow man costume, then play dead or perform a vulgar thrust to make five people disgusted.

You, or a friend, brought a wave of nausea to five poor people. It was probably fake rotting flesh.

The Repugnant

Finally, switch into your balverine costume and use a spell with your safety off to scare multiple people at at once. For some reason, using expressions kind of doesn't work for this achievement.

A balverine Hero scared five innocent bystanders. How were they to know it was just a costume?

The Howler

Let's go back to Murgo and wrap up the DLC.

The Colosseum

Again, try to make sure you have all nine dyes from the snowglobe and cursed skull before using this item. This is because we can trick the game into thinking we have the last dye, but it only works if we have all the other ones. We are going to first focus on the last dye as this is the most annoying achievement of what's left. You should see a golden ring in the arena - don't step into it and instead walk along the right side of the area until you get to a telescope. Read the famous quote on the telescope's plinth, then shoot at one of the gargoyles that are "underneath" the moon from your perspective (as long as you're still standing next to the telescope). This will give you the Wizard Teddy. Next, walk along the left side of the arena and look for the two big-ish candelabras with white candles. Use a fireball on the candles to light them, releasing King Teddy from his slumber. Take him, then save and quit, then reload your game. This will trick the game into thinking you got the last teddy and you'll then receive (10/10) Strawberry Blonde Hair Dye for free alongside some other random stuff. Wow!

You, or a friend, managed to collect all the special dyes secreted in other worlds.

The Colourist

Note: If you already collected these two bears in the past/didn't have all nine other dyes before setting this up, you probably will not be able to cheese the achievement like this and will have to get the third teddy legitimately. More on that will be discussed later in this section of the page.

If you have the chicken suit, a three-piece costume from Fable II 's defunct website, put it on and keep it on. You need to kick five chickens in the colosseum while wearing this outfit for an achievement. Alternatively, you can play with someone who has the suit and has already kicked five chickens - the achievement will pop after the player with the suit kicks one more chicken in here. Those who have connected to the website in the past should be able to buy all the pieces of the suit in Oakfield. You may even find someone in the threads of TrueAchievements giving suits out...

A Hero dressed as a chicken and proceeded to kick many of its own kind. We're sickened.

The Fowl Player

Now that that's out of the way, let's discuss what's left on our plate. We've got to get a 10x multiplier (in turn granting us a score of 20,000 effortlessly) as well as defeat the final boss, the necromancer. Your multiplier is increased by hitting flit switches that periodically pop up, so you'll have to hit quite a few of them. Set up your Will to be Lv1-2 Inferno and Lv3-5 Time Control.

When the announcer starts counting down from three, charge a Lv5 Time Control to give yourself a ton of slowed time. Defeat as many enemies as you can and try to charge up more slowed time so they chain into each other. Prioritize hitting flit switches. Kicking chickens will also give you more points, though that's not super required for what we're trying to accomplish right now. Focus on getting a 10x flit switch multiplier and earning 20,000 points.

You, or a friend, reached an impressive multiplier of 10 in the intimidating Colosseum.

The Multiplicator

20,000 Colosseum points! Few have attained such a landmark. Less than a million, probably.

The Gladiator

The Colosseum's resident necromancer stood little chance against such a Hero.

The Combatant

Misc Achievements

Some of this DLC's achievements are given for doing some random stuff. First off, let's discuss the achievements that are related to the base game. First is the achievement for opening all nine demon doors. There's a page in this walkthrough showing how to open them all, so you should have no trouble with that. All you need to know on this page is that if you open the doors before installing the paid version of the See the Future DLC, the achievement will pop once you reenter the game. You can only pass the achievement on to someone else if you open the final door in Fairfax Gardens while the recipient is there. To do that, you'd have to save, open the door for yourself, and reload without saving to keep the door closed.

All the Demon Doors in Albion have been opened. No wonder there’s an unnatural draught.

The Concierge

To start, you will now get an achievement for having marital or extramarital sex 25 times. This does not include sex that was paid for. All three of these categories can be tracked in Logbook - Personality - Stats. The ideal thing for a male character to do is to marry a prostitute and just have sex with them (male prostitutes have been seen in Bloodstone), then sleep for a day (or a week if you have to), then repeat over and over. For those of you playing as a woman, as I have, you will just have to find/marry a kinky man or woman and have sex with them over and over. Just remember that if you're in a straight relationship, use a condom or you'll have a chance of having a kid. I for one got extremely lucky and found a bisexual, raunchy, kinky, aggression-loving woman, so this achievement took only a little while to grind out.

Do note that if the game just immediately skips to the end of the sex and doesn't go through the black sex screen, then the sex didn't count. You should be able to initiate sex with your partner again right after and that time should count. Like the demon door achievement, if you do this before installing this DLC, the achievement will unlock as soon as you reenter the game.

Being a Hero isn't just about quests, it's about spreading the love. A lot of love.

The Paramour

With Dextrous Styles Lv4, you can aim your ranged weapon at specific body parts. Use this to hit enemies in the groin 25 times to unlock another simple achievement. This one is also retroactive like the above two achievements. Groin shots work on hollow men, too, but the easiest thing to do is to just turn your safety off and shoot at Murgo's groin down by the Bowerstone Market docks. Murgo cannot die or move, so he'll take it like a champ.

Heroes are the harbingers of injuries both painful and comedic. Which explains the 25 groin shots.

The Nutcracker

Well, that's it! Finally! If these are your last achievements, you've somehow 100%'d Fable I I well after its release date despite the terrible achievements they put in here. Congratulations! (Don't worry, it's a lot easier to cheese the Fable III achievements.)

Fable II was developed by Lionhead Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios . It is the sequel of Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters . It was released in North America on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 and in the United Kingdom on Friday, 24th October, 2008. Since 12 November 2015, Fable II is available on Xbox One through Backward Compatibility.

Announced in 2006, the game takes place once again in Fable' s setting of Albion , though 500 years after the final defeat of Jack under the Hero of Oakvale . It is in a colonial era resembling the time of highwaymen or the Enlightenment; guns are still primitive, and large castles and cities have developed in the place of towns. Unlike the original, the player may choose to be either male or female.

Lead designer Peter Molyneux has played a major role in presenting this game to the public, as he did in the lead up to the release of the original Fable.

The game was awarded gold master status on September 22, 2008.

The game became available on Games on Demand (in Xbox Live) for US$19.99 (1600 MS Points) as of April 6th, 2010.

Synopsis [ ]

Fable II Storyline

Gameplay [ ]

Announced at E3 2007, all melee combat takes place on the X button. All ranged combat runs on the Y button and magic or will abilities on the B button. Flourishes will be shown in a different perspective and time will slow down to show finishing moves. Moves done in melee combat are also dependent on where the player is located. For example, if a player is on top of a tower, pressing the X button may cause the player to throw a certain enemy off of the tower rather than attack with a weapon. Also, in the Xbox 360 edition of the combat with a not yet ready combat engine shows you can use the environment which leads on to different combat reaches. The character can get into a bar fight shown in the combat demo (the first tested engine).

There are multiple different weapon types: Clockwork, Turret, and Flintlock Pistols and Rifles , Cleavers , Axes , Longswords , Hammers , Cutlasses, Katanas and Maces . Crossbows were confirmed in the IGN.com video, posted October 9, 2008, showing all the types of weapons. It was been confirmed recently on the Lionhead blogs that the Longbows would not be in Fable II due to the appearance of guns in Albion. Although bows were no longer available, crossbows were upgraded to keep up with the firearms.

All spells available in the game have a targeted and area effect version. To target, the player simply points the left thumb stick toward their desired target then releases their spell. Most spells do noticeably higher damage or have a much longer duration when targeted. When higher ranks of spells are learned, they must be charged for a certain amount of time (depending on the rank) before being released.

In Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters , the Hero wandered Albion alone and saving all the people, with help sometimes. But Fable II brings a new ally on the scene, Man's Best Friend. Molyneux announced that the Hero of Fable II shall have a dog to look after, as well as himself.

The player will encounter this dog early in the game, and it will stay with the player 'til the end. Every dog in the game will be unique and will morph depending on the alignment of the character. The dog has also been said to alert the player to threats, while not showing the player to the threat itself making for a stealthy kill. It is also replaced the radar seen in the original Fable by telling the player where he/she should be going. It will also attack the enemies that have an advantage over the player; for example, if the hero had a melee weapon drawn, it would attack the enemy with the Ranged weapon, though in reality the dog will only attack enemies that the player has knocked down. In a recent interview and game demonstration, Molyneux showed some of the interactions players can have with their dog, including buying treats, playing fetch and rewarding or punishing their dogs for their behaviour.

The dog has been given advanced AI. The dog isn't controllable directly, but the actions of the player will control the dog. If the player goes to attack, the dog will attack as well, if the player starts to run, the dog will run as well. The dog's behavior is context specific, and when in towns, or if the player is injured, the dog will stay closer. If the player goes in a shop, the dog will wait outside the door, and go back to the player when that person walks out. Also, the dog can be trainable by expressions. Molyneux also revealed that if the player does not want a dog, then he/she will have to run away and escape from it (preferably when it is injured), although the dog will track down the player, requiring him or her to run away again. One example given is if the dog is injured and the player leaves and goes to the pub, later there will be a scratching at the door. Someone will open the door for it and observers will react negatively; however, this event isn't able to be recreated.

The dog itself can be taught to do tricks using books, raise the level of its fighting abilities and treasure hunting by also reading a book, and even renamed using a collar. Learning the new expressions and teaching the dog to find treasure is as easy as reading a book. These books can be found throughout Albion as treasures, or by buying the books at the Bowerstone Book Shop.

On July 14th 2008 at E3 2008, lead designer Peter Molyneux demonstrated "Albion Orbs". These orbs show where other players are in their respective worlds and allow you to, at the press of a button, bring them into your world to co-op with. The actions of visiting players are permanent in the game, unless the safety feature is activated. Players will be able to give items to visitors. The players' dogs will not accompany them into another player's game.

The mode of co-op is somewhat similar to that of Lego Star Wars: The Video Game ; in those players will be able to drop in and out of other player's games at will. The host player can set certain rules; e.g. how loot gained is split between the players and if friendly fire is active or not.

The online co-op patch was made available on October 21 at 12:00am for midnight launches. Online co-op is available to anyone who bought the game, has a high-speed internet connection and Xbox Live gold membership.

While on the same console, a second player with their own account can drop in and out as a "henchman" to the first player. If the second player on the same console does not have an account of their own, the henchman is made in a brief create screen that pauses the game. Henchmen created this way are not saved into the main player's game. The first player also decides how much bounty the henchman will obtain, e.g. gold and renown. The second player will also be able to port any experience, renown and gold to their own Fable II game via a memory card if they have imported their character and not created the henchmen from scratch.

As in the original Fable , you have the ability to fall in love, and get married. In Fable II , the idea of family has been changed so it fits more in with the theme of emotion. Additionally, same-sex marriage is possible. Children will stay at home, either with the mother or the father while the hero goes out to do heroic deeds. The hero's alignment dictates the child's alignment.

To have children, the player must ask his/her spouse to follow to the bed, activate the bed, and select Unprotected Sex. Selecting Protected Sex will keep you from catching STD's or having unwanted children, but the option is only available if you have a condom on your person. Condoms can be bought from general stores found around Albion, and by digging up treasure/leafing through a treasure chest. At the beginning of the game, you will only be able to have one child, which remains a baby until you finish the Spire quest, after which the child will have grown to a nine-year-old. Any children you have after that will take about an in-game day to mature.

Originally, if the hero/heroine had died, the character would remain dead, but a child of theirs would become playable to replace them. This led to play testers having more children than they ordinarily would have, in an attempt to farm extra lives.

Then the thought came along of the player's character not dying upon defeat. Rather, he or she would fall unconscious once he/she loses all of his/her health. The enemies would then injure the character while unconscious by beating, kicking or stabbing which would leave permanent and humiliating scars. Falling unconscious could be avoided with one of three sacrifices: gold, reputation, or experience gained.

At the Game Developers Conference in 2008, Molyneux indicated in interviews that the design for death had changed due to player feedback during play testing when it was found that players would rather turn off their console than subject their character to permanent disfigurement.

In the new design, upon losing all health, a hero falls and loses a certain amount of experience which is uncollected at the time. This experience is exchanged for a "burst" of energy, allowing one last "Heroic Struggle" in which the player rises to their feet and knocks all enemies away. This would leave the player momentarily safe from harm, though the Hero will also receive a scar for each time. Resurrection Phials prevent loss of Experience Points upon death, and in so doing, prevent the character from getting scarred. Certain augments can also prevent scarring, or even just make it worse.

Alignment [ ]

Unlike the original Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters , there are now other alignments apart from good and evil. Lionhead decided to add more choices concerning how you customize your player such as purity, corruption, attractive or scary. These alignments can be changed depending on common factors such as laziness and eating fresh foods from a produce stall.

Features [ ]

Expressions [ ].

Like in Fable , there are many expressions that can be used by the player in order to communicate with other people, including dancing, laughing, taunting, belching, etc. This feature has been improved as shown in E3 2008; the player can use a button to access the expression menu at any time, which is a circular set of buttons that each lead to a different category. In order to find out information about an NPC's attitude toward the hero, you target the NPC using the left trigger, then press the Y button to view their opinion of you. For example, if the player can get an NPC to like you, the NPC will give the player a reward. Similarly, if the player can make an NPC love the player, the NPC may marry the player (If you offer the ring). These scenarios can only be achieved through the use of expressions, sometimes through an extended expression mini-game. Some expressions have been taken to yet a further level of depth. In an interview with Game Informer Magazine, it was revealed that the player can even adjust the duration and tone of belches and farts.

A number of expressions including belch, fart, dance, laugh and whistle can be held for longer, using a status bar similar to the one used in jobs , so try and get it inside the bar. Holding an expression increases its effect, but if you fail to finish the expression properly, you will mess up the expression and alter the resulting attitude change of nearby NPCs. One such example is failing a fart, which results in your hero releasing his bowels in his pants, and while performing the belch expression if failed the hero will double over and hold their stomach and mouth, accompanied by the sound of vomiting.

After learning them, your dog can also make expressions and these are tied to your own actions. For example, after learning "Hide snout," when you fart or belch your dog will bury its nose in the ground, covering it with its paws.

Content [ ]

According to an IGN preview, Albion will be about ten times the size it was in the previous Fable title. While Molyneux has stated that the player can complete the main story in 12 hours if they rush through it, it would take 100+ hours to complete everything in the game. Molyneux has stated that it will cost about 100 million gold to buy every item in the game.

Cutscenes [ ]

There are both interactive and a few non-interactive cutscenes in the game. [1] According to Lionhead, the non-interactive cutscenes consume less than five minutes of game time.

In the fully interactive cutscenes a player can use their expressions during the dialogue or even run away from the scene, thus skipping it, afterwards the player can return to the cutscene location to start it again.

If the player runs away from a cutscene which contained important information, the character will come and find you later on.

Dynamic World [ ]

The world in Fable II is fully dynamic, interactive and free roaming with no set quest path to take and includes all 4 seasons.

Since the game will take place over a hero's lifetime, many things will change; Molyneux gave an example of a trade camp that the player could either help or destroy. Trading in such camps would increase their profit, resulting in a small town growing around them, while stealing from the camp or massacring the camp will result in the abandonment of the area.

Additionally, every accessible property in the world can be purchased, and ownership often unlocks further quests. When stores, or property is owned you will earn Gold every 5 minutes of play time. Players can furnish the houses with furniture and other items available for sale. In addition, titles will be awarded for buying property; if one were to buy every building and piece of land in a town, he may become the mayor of that town; owning more land leads to higher titles such as king of the entire land of Albion . [2]

The environment in Fable II will feature trees with branches and leaves that are individually animated according to their own physics, each tree having roughly 120,000 leaves. There are also around 15 million poppies in Albion.

Peter Molyneux also has revealed the "bread crumb" trail, a feature that shows glowing sparkles in a line in front of you to guide you back to the main story line. Molyneux also said players are free to turn off this feature at any time and venture on their own path to that quest, or just completely ignore the quest and explore more of Albion or partake in a side quest.

In Fable II Pub Games , an unlockable concept art shows a map of a coastline unlike the one from the original game. Whether this is a new area or a revamp of the original is unknown.

Pre-release Marketing [ ]

Tales of albion [ ].

Lionhead Studios released a section on their website entitled "Tales of Albion", which provides a back-story to Fable, Fable: The Lost Chapters, and Fable II. In "Fragments of the Old Kingdom", it details how the Archon came to power in Albion, and how the Heroes' Guild was founded. "Tales" also chronicles the ruin of the Guild in "Fall of the Heroes", and will describe Albion in Fable II with "Travels in Today's Albion".

Online Competitions [ ]

Just as Lionhead has done with The Movies , online competitions were made available through Lionhead's forums. One such competition was naming a title to be used in the game, similar to the first game wherein a character was addressed by various titles that the character purchased from a "Title Vendor" Lionhead has stated these titles will be bought but they have to be earned first. They are bought from a town crier in Fable II ; the winning title was Lionheart. On May 30th, Lionhead held a competition for artwork that would be used in the game.

Video Diaries [ ]

Technology [ ]

The graphics engine is written in-house, but middleware is integrated for several other parts of the game: Havok is used for a physics engine and Kynapse is used for some AI. Alienbrain 8 is used to track assets such as 3D Models, files, and art.

Collector's Edition [ ]

A Collector's Edition was also released, and included a bonus DVD with videos (including a Making-of feature) and concept art, a redemption card allowing the download of exclusive in-game content, and an Xbox LIVE trial membership (also a redemption card).

The in-game content is referred to as the "Otherworldly Content" package, and includes " The Wreckager " (a Legendary Cutlass weapon), the " Hall of the Dead " (a dungeon) and items modelled on the Spartan Armour and Energy Sword used by the character Master Chief in Halo . [4]

Originally the Collector's Edition was to be packaged in a premium box and include physical items: a collectible Hobbe figure and five different fate cards. These items were cancelled and never released.

Game of the Year Edition [ ]

A newer version of Fable II called Game of the Year Edition was released in 2009.

Fable-2-game-of-the-year-edition--xbox-360-front-cover

This was released after both the Knothole Island and See The Future DLCs came out, and has them both fully downloaded onto the disc - so there is no need to buy the features from Xbox Live. The game of the year edition featured a green tint to the cover art and can also be found with the usual red tint to the game cover art. The easiest way to identify the copy you are buying is the game of the year edition and not the regular version of the game is to look for the game of the year sticker in the top right corner of the cover art which reads "Extra Content! More Quests, More Locations, More Choices!".

  • This may not apply to used copies of the game purchased from retailers such as Gamestop , as the case on the shelf may not correspond to the disc you receive when checking out.

The same sect of Old Kingdom alchemists who are said to have solved the secret of immortality also created the recipe for this life-prolonging potion. Few have the knowledge or the skill to brew it successfully now.

Resurrection Phial [ ]

It's a good idea to keep one of these invaluable potions in your inventory. Should your health drop to zero, the Resurrection Phial will automatically revive you, while preventing any of the inconveniences associated with defeat, such as experience loss and scarring. Smells faintly of lavender.

Potion of Transmogrification [ ]

This is a one-of-a-kind potion that is found in Fairfax Tomb, hidden under Fairfax Castle . Drinking this potion will cause the player to have an irreversible sex change. This decision must be made in the tomb because the potion evaporates if you leave without drinking it. Please be aware that your game is saved directly after using the potion, therefore it is permanent .
