Frequently asked questions

What do i need to know before booking a flight.

There are various factors to consider when booking a flight including cost, fare classes, baggage policies, the complications of flying long haul, and complying with airport regulations. To make your booking journey smoother KAYAK has developed a comprehensive flight guide including insights on finding affordable flights, packing efficiently, and utilizing the best travel tools.

Which month of the year are flight prices lowest?

It’s well established that flights in the low season are generally cheaper than ticket prices during the high season. That means that knowing which month to find the lowest priced plane tickets will depend heavily on seasonality and your destination. While avoiding peak travel times can help you keep costs down, our data shows that the month with the lowest priced plane tickets for domestic flights based on all searches made on KAYAK in the last 12 months was January, while the most expensive was March. If you’re booking an international flight, then January is the cheapest month to fly and June the most expensive.

Can flying international flights with a layover save money on airfare?

For many long-haul international flights, flying non-stop is not possible and you will have to fly with a layover. Some routes will offer both and you could consider flying with a layover for a number of reasons. Firstly, breaking up what would otherwise be a long-haul flight, taking a rest and then completing the journey might make the flight more manageable. Secondly, prices can also be lower than non-stop flights, so while it might take longer for you to reach your destination, you could save money. We’ve looked at prices over the last 12 months for the 100 most popular international destinations for KAYAK users and on average, prices for non-stop flights were cheaper than flights with a layover.

How do I find the best flight deals on KAYAK?

A simple flight search at https://www.kayak.com/flights scans for prices on hundreds of travel sites in seconds. We gather flight deals from across the web and put them in one place. Then on the search results page you can use various filters to compare options for the same flight and easily choose the best flight deal from all of the deals coming straight from the travel sites to your screen, with no extra fee from KAYAK.

Does KAYAK query more flight providers than competitors?

Yes, KAYAK has access to more data and information than online travel agencies and consistently outperforms the competition in accuracy, globally.

What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you flights up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. That way, you can see if leaving a day or two earlier will find you a better deal. You can also select the flexible "weekend" or "month" search options to widen your search range and find the cheapest price that works for you.

What is the cheapest day of the week to book a flight?

The best day to book your flight depends on a number of factors, but there are general trends that you can follow to increase your chances of cheaper plane tickets. Based on an analysis of KAYAK data for all flights departing from inside United States over the last 12 months, the cheapest day to fly for domestic flights is Wednesday. For international flights, Tuesday had the cheapest tickets on average.

When is the best time to buy plane tickets - Last minute or in advance?

Last minute flight deals are definitely up for grabs but when exactly to purchase your plane tickets will depend on where you’re traveling to and from. Based on all data for flight searches made on KAYAK over the last 12 months, prices for domestic flights remained below the average price up to 1 weeks before departure. For international flights, deals could still be had up to 1 weeks prior to the departure date, with prices remaining below average. If you’re flexible, KAYAK brings you both advance and last minute one-way and round-trip flight deals.

How does KAYAK find such low flight prices?

KAYAK processes over 2 billion flight queries annually and displays results from hundreds of airlines and third party sites, allowing it to find a variety of flight prices and options. It also displays results from 2M+ properties along with rental cars, vacation packages, activities and millions of verified reviews so users can see as many available travel options as possible.

How can Hacker Fares save me money?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets on different airlines when it can save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket.

How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy?

KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a given destination and date is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

How to find cheap flights, what is the best day to buy a plane ticket.

This just in! Airfares offered on Thursdays tend to be the cheapest, according to flight demand on Travelocity in 2021. Tuesday and Wednesday prices are also good, but you may want to prepare your budget if booking during the weekend, as data shows that is when prices are generally at their highest.

What are the cheapest days to fly?

Frequent travelers may already know this, but earlier in the week can be the cheapest time to fly. In 2021, flights departing on a Monday were generally the cheapest of the week, whereas you may pay a premium for weekend flights when demand is usually high. On average, tickets were most expensive for Saturday departures, so if you need to fly out on a weekend, you might look for deals ahead of time.

How far in advance can you book a flight?

Trying to figure out how early you should book your flight? It’s possible to start comparing international airfares on Travelocity up to 12 months in advance. However, it does depend on the carrier as not all airlines release their prices that far out. According to our 2021 flight demand trends, last minute planners can still bag a bargain with some of the cheapest fares appearing 0-2 weeks prior to their travel dates.

*According to flight demand on Travelocity.com from January to December 2021. Savings are subject to change based on departure location, date and destination.

In this article, we will explore various types of day trip destinations, from coastal getaways to mountain retreats, historical sites to cultural hubs, and outdoor adventures to bustling urban centers. Each destination offers a unique experience and promises to make your day trip an unforgettable one.

So, fasten your seatbelt and get ready to embark on a whirlwind journey as we discover the best places to fly for a day trip!

Factors to Consider

When planning a day trip, there are several important factors to consider in order to make the most of your time and ensure a successful adventure:

  • Proximity: Opt for a destination that is within a reasonable flying distance. The shorter the flight, the more time you’ll have to explore and enjoy your chosen day trip location.
  • Weather: Check the weather forecast for both your departure and arrival destinations. Choose a place with favorable weather conditions that align with your desired activities.
  • Attractions: Research and identify the key attractions or experiences offered by the destination. Whether it’s visiting historical landmarks, enjoying outdoor activities, or immersing yourself in a vibrant cultural scene, make sure the place has something that aligns with your interests.
  • Transportation: Consider the transportation options available at your chosen destination. Will you need to rent a car, take public transportation, or rely on organized tours to get around? Ensure there are convenient and reliable transportation options to maximize your time.
  • Time Zone: Take into account any time zone differences between your departure and arrival locations. You don’t want to lose valuable time adjusting to a new time zone, so choose a destination that is within a similar time zone or has minimal time difference.
  • Safety and Accessibility: Research the safety of the destination and any travel advisories in place. Additionally, consider the accessibility of tourist sites and attractions, especially if you have limited time.

By considering these factors, you can ensure that your day trip is well-planned, enjoyable, and tailored to your preferences and interests.

Believing there’s just one optimal day a week to save on flights — and that day is Tuesday — is the stuff of legends. And like all good legends, there is some truth to it … but it’s not the whole story.

The reality is that flight prices change constantly and at all hours of the day, adjusting to real-time demand. Airlines don’t restock on the same day every week like a grocery store, so you won’t find deals by waiting until Tuesdays to book. However, you might find some modest savings if you’re willing to fly on Saturdays or midweek, when there’s less demand than usual.

Here’s what the data shows on the best days to book a flight and when to fly.

» Learn more: The best travel credit cards right now

Best day to book a flight

No single day of the week is best to book a flight. You can find deals any day of the week since flight prices fluctuate with demand.

Airlines might offer sales, increase the number of seats on a route or even lower prices to match a competitor, so there’s no actual pattern in what day of the week has the best deals.

Best day to fly

Hopper — a travel booking app — collected flight booking data from October 2023 through April 1, 2024 for May 2024 departures. Here are the findings about the best day to fly.

Tuesday and Friday flights can help you avoid the rush earlier in the week

Sundays and Mondays are the most expensive days to depart for domestic trips. If you can’t fly on the cheapest days, flying on Tuesdays or Fridays might also be a good option. The average airfare is about 12% lower than peak Sunday prices on these days.

Mondays can still be a relatively expensive day to fly domestically. By departing on Monday instead of Sunday, you can expect to save only about $9, or about 3%.

Wednesdays and Saturdays are the cheapest day to fly internationally

Meanwhile, international flyers would also be wise to leave on Wednesdays or Saturdays, usually the cheapest days to depart for an international trip. That said, there isn’t a huge difference in price across the days of the week for most international routes.

Hopper estimates that leaving on a Wednesday for Europe will only save you about 10% compared to the most expensive day (Friday).

Fly on the holidays (or as far from it as possible)

Holidays are an entirely different beast, no matter whether it’s the Fourth of July or Labor Day. There are generally more people flying in the days around a holiday, so there are fewer airplane seats available and higher prices.

To get the best deal, book as early as possible. Because many airlines have flexible cancellation policies, it doesn’t hurt to lock in a decent rate ahead of time and rebook if the flight price drops in the months after. According to Google Flights’ 2023 insights, the best time to book a mid-December holiday flight is 71 days before departure.

In many cases, the best day to fly will be further out from the holiday. If the holiday falls on a Monday, flying the Tuesday before will likely be cheaper than flying the Friday before. You can also look at flying on the holiday itself. For example, flying on Christmas Day or Thanksgiving Day is usually much more affordable than flying on the days before or after.

Here are our recommendations for when to fly around some of the major holidays based on recent checkpoint data from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA):

The best days to fly around Memorial Day .

The best days to fly around Fourth of July .

The best days to fly around Labor Day .

The best days to fly around Thanksgiving .

The best days to fly around Christmas .

Tips to find cheap flights any day of the week

Book one to three months in advance.

Even though no day of the week consistently has cheaper flights, there is a time period during which you should book before prices go up.

Going, a flight deals aggregator, recommends booking domestic flights one to three months in advance to avoid any price surges in the weeks leading up to the departure date. Last-minute flight deals aren’t super common and you risk not getting a seat at all because your desired flight might ultimately sell out. If you’re flying internationally, you’ll want to look two to eight months out.

It doesn’t hurt to look at flight prices before the ideal booking window. Google Flights, for example, sometimes shows in the search results when it expects prices to be the lowest based on historical data for your route.

one day trip by flight

Set a price alert

Let a computer program do the work for you. Instead of checking flight prices every day, set a price alert on the travel search engine of your choice — whether it’s Google Flights , Hopper, Skyscanner or Kayak . They’ll send you an email when they see the price drop.

Rebook if you find a cheaper price

Most airlines have adopted more flexible change and cancellation policies , which make it easier to rebook your flight and save money.

First, you’ll have to make sure that the original flight you booked will not have change or cancellation fees. For most airlines, that applies to most main cabin and premium class tickets on domestic flights and some short-haul international flights. You usually cannot change or cancel basic economy tickets for free.

If you can cancel or change without fees, set a price alert. When the price drops, you can cancel your flight and rebook (on the same airline or a different one) to get the cheaper price. Be aware that you might only get a travel voucher or credit if you cancel, so you should only use the option if you are fairly confident you will fly with the original airline again within one year.

Be flexible with destination, airport and dates

The golden rule of cheap travel remains: Be flexible . Use Google Flights to see if there are cheaper places to go by leaving the destination field blank when you search. Check nearby airports if you’re set on a destination and use the calendar views to find lower prices on different dates. Maybe embrace a long layover as a chance to see another city on your trip.

After all, the best day to book a flight and the best day to fly is when it’s cheapest, and that could vary depending on when and where you are going.

Why day-tripping via plane is totally worth it

Airplane taking off from the airport runway in beautiful sunset light

Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here .

I know this sounds totally odd, but hear me out: taking a day trip via plane is the newest, best way to do it. Ok, admittedly this isn't a one-size-fits-all solution -- no one is taking a day trip from San Francisco to New York -- but there are a lot of reasons why your next outing should be by plane. Let's explore why:

Heading home after a day trip to Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan. Photo by Carissa Rawson/The Points Guy.

It gets you farther

This one is pretty easy to understand. Simply put, you can go a lot farther via plane than other modes of travel. So far I've successfully used air travel to do a day trip twice. Once I flew from Southern California to Northern California to visit my brother for his birthday, and another time my husband and I flew from Almaty, Kazakhstan, to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for a day-long city tour.

In both cases these trips wouldn't have been possible if we had tried to travel via car or train, with trip times taking up to six hours vs just fifty minutes on a plane:

one day trip by flight

In places like California, early departure times and late return times mean that you can spend tons of time on the ground. For me, it meant spending a full day at a theme park celebrating a birthday before heading home (wiped out), happy that I got to spend that time with my family.

It's easy

While flying isn't stress-free for everyone (or anyone, really), those of us who fly frequently have developed travel habits that make airports pretty easy. And when you're just day-tripping? It gets even simpler. No checked bags means no need to head to the counter. It's similar to many business travelers. Not needing to drag a vacation's worth of clothing means you can waltz right in. For me? I check-in on my phone, head through TSA PreCheck, and make a beeline for the lounge to grab a few snacks before boarding. It's about as stressless as airline travel can be.

Flying in for my brother's birthday meant happy family memories. Photo by Carissa Rawson/The Points Guy.

While traveling in other countries, it can actually make cross-border travel much simpler. Take, for example, my recent trip to Central Asia. I managed a day-trip to Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan, landing in Bishkek early in the day where heading through immigration was smooth and efficient. As the nation's capital, Bishkek Airport sees a lot of traffic. The land border, on the other hand? It's a convoluted affair in which you must depart from your Kazakh taxi, wait in lines through border, hope you get in, and hope you can find a Kyrgyz taxi on the other side.

Similarly, the land border crossing between countries with tensions is also difficult. A trip to Jordan from Israel is painful, with barbed wire, intense scrutiny and hours of waiting to get across the border. In contrast, a flight from Tel Aviv to Amman takes 45 minutes and Jordanian immigration happily sells you your visa when you land. It's simple.

It's cheap

Depending on where you're going, it can actually be cheaper to fly than drive. In the case of my above trip to Bishkek, a cab ride from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan rang in at $250 round-trip, while a flight was only $130. And while I recognize that it's not cheap in either case, I definitely saved money flying instead of driving.

Even better, for those of us with points and miles, flying can mean that your day trip actually ends up being, well, free. This is especially true for international travel overseas, where you can take advantage of airline award charts to fly for cheap -even with miles. Take, for example, British Airways' partner flight with Royal Jordanian from Tel Aviv to Amman:

one day trip by flight

While $237 doesn't exactly look cheap for taxes and fees, it's much better than the cash cost of this notoriously expensive ticket:

one day trip by flight

This is especially valuable for time-strapped travelers wanting to maximize their vacations (I'm looking at you, American corporations who only give their workers two weeks of vacation per year).

It's rewarding

Similar to the above, using a plane vs a train or car can be much more rewarding. Why? Because massive, international airline alliances mean most airlines you fly are going to earn you miles. The same can't be said for your cab ride, unfortunately. Even better? If you hold certain cards, like the The Platinum Card® from American Express (which has a $695 annual fee. See rates and fees.), you can double-dip your earnings and score 5x rewards on your airline purchase (must be purchased directly with the airline and on up to $500,000 per calendar year) in addition to airline miles. As an elite on Star Alliance, I'm going to head for the plane ride every time.

Bottom line

Day-tripping via plane isn't for every occasion, or even every person. But there are so many circumstances where heading out for the day on a plane is a great idea- from speedier travel to free flights, it's time to consider a flight for your next adventure out.

What is the best day to book flights?

Fares can change as many as 49 times between the first published price and the departure date!

flight booking infographic

  • Jennifer Graham Kizer
  • April 16, 2024

Let’s just say it: Buying airline tickets can be maddening. The same seat on the same flight often costs a different price on Tuesday than it does on Wednesday. Both prices will change depending on the month or season. And if you add in a few other factors (like how many stops and what class you’re flying), the prices change yet again.

Most frustrating of all? The cost varies based on when you buy the ticket. It’s not unusual for fares to seesaw up and down from the moment a price is first published until your departure date, changing as many as 49 times . How can you know which day the airline will offer the lowest price?

MORE: Airlines now have to give you cash instead of voucher for cancelled flight

You can’t know for sure. But you can keep up with the latest airfare studies — in which travel experts crunch the numbers from past flights, looking for trends and patterns. Read on for some tips on when to purchase tickets this year.

full flight infographic

Best day to book domestic flights

About 10 years ago, when online flight booking was still new, airlines would post their latest fares and special deals at the end of the day on Tuesday. In many cases, airlines would match one another’s discount fares. Travel experts passed this information on to consumers, and people came to think of late Tuesday and early Wednesday as the best times to buy tickets.

These days, airlines update their fares all the time, and price matching is less prevalent. So the traditional advice to purchase tickets midweek no longer applies .

Research from Expedia shows that nowadays, Sunday is the best day to book a flight, while fares are most expensive on Friday. The data suggests that if you book on Sunday instead of Friday, you can save around 5% on an economy class ticket and 7% on a business class ticket.

Best day to book international flights

Sunday is also the best day to book international flights. If you choose to buy tickets on Sunday instead of Friday, you can save around 5% on an economy class ticket and 24% for a business class ticket. While the amount of savings has varied, Expedia found that Sunday has been the low price winner for the last three years running .

Cheapest days to fly domestically

In a study by CheapAir.com , travel experts found that Wednesday is the least expensive day to fly domestically, and Sunday is the most expensive. Choosing Wednesday to travel will save you an average of $102 versus traveling on Sunday. The next cheapest option is Tuesday, which will save you an average of $99 versus traveling on Sunday.

Cheapest days to fly internationally

If you’re flying overseas, aim to travel mid-week. “For international trips, depart on a Thursday to save as much as 6%, or $60, per round trip ticket,” Hayley Berg, lead economist for travel deals app Hopper, told “Reader’s Digest. ”

Meanwhile, CheapAir.com found that the best days to travel internationally were Tuesday or Wednesday , depending on the continent.

Best months to fly

Lots of people take vacations in the summer, which drives the prices up in May, June and July. And the fall and winter holidays lead to higher prices in November and December. So, if you have a bit of flexibility in your travel dates, you can save money by flying in January, February, September or October.

Berg told “Reader’s Digest” that air passengers can get a discount of over $100 off domestic airfare by traveling during less popular months.

Best time of day to fly

Because fewer people want to take early morning flights, they tend to be a bit cheaper. According to Trip.com , if you opt for a flight that leaves before 9 a.m., the price could be as much as 15% less expensive. You’ll also get a cleaner, possibly less-crowded plane.

How far in advance to book flights

Buying your airline tickets as early as possible doesn’t mean you’ll get the best deal. “Booking more than six months ahead can cost you, since airlines set their initial prices conservatively,” Hopper’s Chief Data Scientist Patrick Surry told Travel & Leisure . But if you wait too long, you might end up paying an inflated price.

According to CheapAir.com, the best day to buy a plane ticket this year is 42 days before your departure. The prime booking window to buy a cheap flight is 74 to 21 days in advance. Outside of that window, the rates will probably be higher. But seasonal changes and holidays can alter the pricing, and where you’re flying comes into play, too.

To be better informed about your specific pricing window, you can use CheapAir’s tool to find the best time to buy flights, based on data compiled from over 8,000 markets and over 1.3 billion airfares. You can plug in departure and arrival cities, hit “Get Info,” and this tool will tell you the prime booking window for your flight. For example, if you’re flying from Atlanta to San Diego this year, CheapAir.com suggests you book between 29 and 72 days in advance.

Buying plane tickets would be a lot less stressful if the prices didn’t change so frequently. But the task is easier when you have these basic tips in your back pocket!

Ask Amy: Should we take a flight with our 1-year-old or miss a family function to avoid the travel headache?

DEAR AMY: My sister will earn her Ph.D. out-of-state this summer.

My wife and I have a one-year-old and a three-year-old.

Bringing the whole family would be too much for the one-year-old to handle.

I’d like to bring our older child, who is close with the graduating aunt.

My wife doesn’t support the older child going with me because she wants to be there for that child’s first airplane flight.

She acknowledges that this is a selfish desire.

Should we go as a family, despite the headaches that will come from flying with a baby, or should I go solo?

– Harried Husband

DEAR HARRIED: I have to admit that as someone who has flown – a lot – with my daughter when she was a baby and a toddler, and subsequently with many other children of varying ages, I don’t see flying with a three-year-old as being the important and unmissable milestone your wife seems to perceive it to be.

(I still have flashbacks of running from one end of the Dallas airport to the other with my daughter, repeatedly dropping our carry-on luggage and assorted backpacks as we went.)

If the trip to your sister’s graduation is a direct flight of three hours or less, I would take the whole gang. If the trip requires a complicated connection, I would suggest you go solo.

This Is How Early You Should Purchase an International Flight if You Want the Best Price

W hen it comes to booking anything travel related, the earlier, the better, whether that is for peace of mind, availability, or price. But how early exactly do you have to book your international flights to get the best deal possible? CheapAir.com’s 2024 International Airfare Study looked at 917 million airfares across the world to determined how many days in advance American travelers should be booking flights in 2024.

Best time to book an international flight

Infographic: CheapAir.com

While flying to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the South Pacific requires a lot of advance planning, taking a last-minute trip to the Caribbean, South America, Central America, Mexico, Asia, and Canada is a lot more affordable, although you still need to get your ducks in a row at least one month in advance.

The best time to book an international flight changes every year and depends on a variety of factors including big events in certain geographical region. For example, in 2023, the best time to book a flight to Europe was only 45 days in advance but with the Summer Olympic Games taking place in Paris this summer, the lowest airfare for the region is now to be found 320 days early. The trend is reversed if you want to travel to the Caribbean this year; in 2024, you’ll find the best price only 29 days in advance, while in 2023 you needed to book your flight 56 days early. With the 2026 Winter Olympic Games taking place in February in Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy, you should start planning early for your next European travels.

The study has also yielded CheapAir.com with some interesting data about the best days of the week for Americans to book cheap international flights (Tuesdays and Wednesdays), the best month (February), and the worst one (July). With February well behind us, you may have to do some digging to find good deals on airfare.

Not even for 10 minutes unless you hold a passport of one of the visa-exempt countries (Australia is not).

> I have read about the 72hour free transit visa for international flights but could not find anything in detail.

It was a project that never took off.

Thanks for that

My question are , is this even possible view out a visa? and Even if I change my flights to the same Airport I still have to get through passport control to get my luggage and check in is this possible without a visa.

We are in Uzbekistan and need to find a travel agency which can organize a Transit Visa for Russia in Tashkent for a German Passport holders.

//at SVO and leaving 24hr later from DMO. My question are , is this even possible view out a visa?

Change your travel plans. Even do not mention the visa question, travel plan with changing SVO to DME is, as a rule, bad idea. These airports are far from each other and travel between them is long and uncomfortable.

//Even if I change my flights to the same Airport

International transfer in the SAME airport of course can be done without visa (exception - Belarus), because you stay in airport and do not cross Russian border.

one day trip by flight

<International transfer in the SAME airport of course can be done without visa (exception - Belarus), because you stay in airport and do not cross Russian border.>

However, if your layover is more than 24 hours, you still need a Russian visa.

Consider that you have bought yourselves some common sense. Money well spent if you learn to use it when booking your next set of tickets.

> is this even possible view out a visa?

Definitely not.

> Even if I change my flights to the same Airport I still have to get through passport control to get my luggage and check in

Not necessarily. In many cases you can check in online or at the time you check in for your first flight or simply call the airline and ask them to deliver your boarding passes to the gate. Same with the luggage - if you can't check it in to your final destination a transfer desk staff can often re-check your luggage for you.

> We are in Uzbekistan and need to find a travel agency which can organize a Transit Visa for Russia in Tashkent for a German Passport holders.

I'm not sure it's possible. One thing I am sure of though is that the Moscow forum is a spectacularly wrong place to ask a question about a travel agency in Tashkent. Why don't you just call the Russian embassy in Tashkent? If they say they can't do it then no agency can.

andrejfleischer, hi

Solution: dodge a bullet, change your ticket in order to have a connection airside any MOW airport on single PNR and without changing the ports. OR re-route your itinerary to avoid connection in Moscow .

' class=

Note this may end up costing a small fortune, but given the monumental screw up by your travel agent, I would press them to somehow adjust this. After all, while as you say you may be "guilty" of causing the confusion, they are guilty was before this for not booking a legal ticket, well, legal in the sense that given what they did, the needed to advise you of the need to have a transit visa in hand for boarding in Tashkent...

The airline's sale, which ends on Tuesday, is in celebration of Earth Day.

Spirit Airlines is celebrating Earth Day with a sale that has one-way flights starting at just $49.

The deal , which ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on April 23, is available for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from April 30 to June 19 and then again from Aug. 6 to Oct.16, Spirit shared with Travel + Leisure . The sale is not available during several blackout dates, including May 28, May 29, Sept. 3, and Sept. 4.

“The opportunity to travel and explore nature is impactful and helps us better appreciate our planet,” Lania Rittenhouse, the vice president of guest experience, brand and communications at Spirit Airlines, said in a statement shared with T+L. "We hope this offer makes it easier for our Guests to discover a new national park or beach this summer with family and friends.”

Fly between Atlantic City and West Palm Beach, between Atlanta and Baltimore, between Nashville and Boston, between Charlotte and Dallas, between Newark and Pittsburgh, and more starting at just $49 each way. On the West Coast, travelers can fly between Los Angeles and San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and more also starting at just $49, or splurge and fly from the City of Angels to New Orleans starting at just $77 one-way.

Travelers can also fly cross-country for less with travel between Miami and Chicago starting at just $69 each way and travel between Philadelphia and Los Angeles starting at just $81 each way.

The sale comes as Spirit Airlines plans to launch new routes to popular destinations like Boston, Portland, Ore., and Salt Lake City in time for summer.

The ultra-low cost airline offers bare-bones tickets and charges for extras like baggage and seat selection. However, travelers who belong to the airline’s paid yearly membership program, the Saver$ Club, receive discounts on those extras.

Travelers who miss the sale can still save big by booking their tickets in person at the airport . That’s because Spirit waives its passenger usage fee for customers who book in person, which generally saves travelers around $23 per ticket each way.
