The England Supporters Travel Club 2022-2024 membership cycle is now open to join
Some important things to note before joining
- All members, whether new or renewing, will be required to upload a new membership photo. We strongly advise that all members either take a new photo before they begin or, upload a photo from their gallery instead of using the ‘camera’ function in the sign-up process.
This is due to a current issue that affects the quality of the image you take, and it could impact how long it takes us to process your membership card. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
- If you are intending on renewing or creating an account for a Junior member we advise that you do this within the same sign-up flow, as opposed to signing up yourself and then attempting to sign up a Junior separately
- Whether you are a brand-new member or renewing, you will see language within the sign-up process talking about ‘joining’. Don’t be concerned if you are a renewing member, your discounted price will be reflected in the summary page before you pay - All renewing members will have six months, until Friday 21 July 2023, to renew at the discounted price - Any member under the age of 16 at the point of joining the Travel Club will be considered a Junior member and receive the Junior Member price - Upon successfully joining, you will be met with a confirmation screen. As soon as your account has been updated in the back end of our system you will receive a welcome/confirmation email Please note that during times when there is a high volume of sign-ups this can take up to 48 hours to receive - Members who are renewing from the 2020-2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar membership will receive one renewal cap
- Members who are renewing for a third consecutive membership will receive an additional ‘Bonus Cap’ by keeping their previous year’s renewal cap - You may experience a delay between signing up and the awarding of any renewal or bonus caps while these are calculated and verified against your membership history
- The caps table is currently being updated and will soon reflect the current standings
- Any issues with Germany caps will be resolved in the coming days
Join, or renew, here!
Why join the England Supporters Travel Club?
Being a member, it isn’t just about away games and tournaments.
The England Supporters Travel Club isn’t just for access to away matches and tournament finals ticket applications. Members also receive a guaranteed £5 off their ticket for every England home game when they purchase within the priority sale window. On top of that, members will have exclusive access to £25 tickets in the 'Home End', during the first sales window, for every home game within this membership cycle.
“ The fans play an important role in helping the team to perform. Wherever we turn up, we know there will be supporters with us every step of the way. It takes a lot to follow England and we will never take it for granted. If I reflect on how far we have come in recent years, travel club members have been a big part of our story. We are all representing our country with pride and hopefully we can give the fans even more special moments in future. ” – Gareth Southgate
Whether you plan to cheer on Southgate’s Three Lions here at Wembley, on the road, or both, the England Supporters Travel Club is the best way to secure your tickets at the best price.
How much will it cost me to join?
After COVID we revised our renewal prices, reducing them for both adult and junior members. We are pleased to announce that these prices will remain for the next campaign. Renewing Members (members of 2020–2022 ESTC who renew before 21 July 2023: Adult: £55 Junior: £15 Please note : All members who renew will enter the sign up process as a 'new' user. However, at the end, and before you pay, you will be presented with the renewal prices New Members: Adult: £75 Junior: £30 How long will the 2022–2024 Membership run for?
The 2022–2024 England Supporters Travel Club will run from now until the final of UEFA EURO 2024 on Sunday 14 July 2024. What will happen to my Caps total?
At the start of every new membership cycle, every member’s ‘Active Caps’ total will be updated. When a new membership cycle starts, only the caps which were earned from matches that took place during the previous membership will remain ‘active’. Therefore, the highest caps total any member will be able to have after the reset will go from 54 caps to 28. That equates to 26 caps for matches attended, one for renewal if you were a member of the previous membership and an additional bonus cap for members who are now in their third consecutive membership. Work will be carried out on caps/the caps table over the coming week. Please don’t be shocked when you see your caps totals change or decrease. The Bonus Cap The ‘Bonus Cap’ will be added to your cap total if you are renewing for a third consecutive time. i.e., If you were a member of the 2018-2020 membership and the 2020-2022 membership, and then choose to renew again for the current membership, then you will have an additional cap added to your ‘Active Cap’ totals. Italy v England Match Registration England will play their first away UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier on 23 March 2023 against Italy in Naples. Registrations for this fixture will open on Thursday 26 January 2023 and run until Thursday 16 February 2023. Only members of the 2022-2024 membership will be able to register their interest in this fixture. At this moment in time, we are still awaiting confirmation on our final allocation for this match. We expect to have this confirmed to us by the Italian FA before the end of February. Other Important Information For this membership cycle, all members will be required to upload a new image for their membership card, so please do not be alarmed if your previous image is no longer available to select. You can find all the Rules and Regulations on the Travel Club right here.

England and Wales fans urged to follow World Cup travel tips: Qatar 2022
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) issues 6 top tips for travelling England and Wales fans to help avoid preventable problems.

With only 1 month to go until the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup kicks off in Qatar, the FCDO has issued 6 top tips for travelling England and Wales fans. Following these tips will help fans avoid preventable problems and enjoy the tournament.
Any Brit planning to attend the World Cup is advised to:
prepare before you go. Our checklist has all the practical steps that fans need to think about before they head off to the tournament, from passport validity to health prescriptions
read our Travel Advice and sign up for e-mail alerts. World Cup-specific information can be found at gov.uk/qatar2022 . Our Qatar travel advice is kept under constant review so fans should sign up for email alerts to stay up to date on the latest developments throughout the tournament
follow the entry requirements for Qatar. To enter Qatar, fans must have a Hayya Card (a form of fan ID), as well as proof of a negative COVID-19 result through a valid PCR or rapid antigen test certificate. Accommodation must be arranged before travelling out
get travel insurance . Without it, fans risk medical bills which may run to thousands of pounds. Fans should check that insurance covers them for all destinations, medical needs, COVID-19 costs and planned activities
know the do’s and don’ts. Qatari laws and customs are very different to those in the UK. There may be serious penalties for doing something that is not an offence in the UK. The availability of alcohol, and associated laws, will be different to previous tournaments
steer clear of drugs. Qatar takes a zero tolerance approach and visitors can expect a severe penalty for the possession of even residual amounts. Punishment can include lengthy custodial sentences
Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said:
The countdown to the World Cup is on, with only a month to go until the action kicks off in Qatar. We want all travelling Brits to enjoy their World Cup experience, and they are more likely to do so if they prepare before they go. Following our 6 top tips and signing up to Qatar travel advice email alerts will help fans have the best possible time at the tournament. The FCDO is working closely with a range of partners, including the Football Associations, fan representatives and UK Police, to provide practical information and advice to travelling supporters.
England Manager, Gareth Southgate said:
I know how much our fans look forward to watching England at major tournaments. With only 1 month to go, I would suggest anyone travelling to the World Cup signs up for the UK Government’s travel alerts. As well as keeping them across all the information they need, they will get important tips too for getting the most out of following England away. We look forward to seeing them all at the finals.
Wales Manager, Rob Page said:
Everyone in Wales is looking forward to seeing Cymru in the World Cup, our first appearance in the competition since 1958. For those fans who are travelling to Qatar, we know how excited they are to be watching Cymru play at the tournament but it’s incredibly important that they keep up to date with the very latest information and advice. For the best possible experience, we advise our fans to sign-up to the Qatar travel advice email alerts.
Ashley Brown, England Fan Embassy Team, part of the Football Supporters Association said:
Travelling to World Cups always requires a level of planning for supporters to make sure we get the most out of a tournament – whether that’s match days, sightseeing or general safety. Qatar has very different laws to the UK and we’d encourage all fans to familiarise themselves with the FCDO ’s 6 top tips and to follow the FSA for further supporter-specific updates.
Paul Corkrey, Fan Embassy Wales said:
This is our first World cup in a generation and we know the Welsh fans will be determined to enjoy the experience. It is a trip to the unknown but information is available and we urge the Red Wall to bookmark the FCDO Travel Advice website.
The UK will have a consular presence in Qatar and across the region throughout the tournament. British nationals needing help or advice will be able to contact the FCDO by phone 24/7 on +44 (0)20 7008 5000 or by calling the Embassy locally on +974 4496 2000. Fans in Qatar can access the Qatari emergency services by dialling 999.
Fans planning to travel elsewhere in the region should check the Travel Advice for each location they plan to visit or transit through. Rules and requirements will vary from country to country.

Your Trip to England: The Complete Guide
England is more than just the iconic sites in London, and planning a trip to the country can be overwhelming thanks to its many destinations and famous attractions. Whether you're looking to enjoy England's beaches, its historic sites or to pub hop through the countryside, there's a lot to consider before arriving in Blighty. From what to eat to where to stay, here's everything you need to know about visiting England.
Planning Your Trip
Best Time to Visit: England makes for an amazing holiday destination any time of year, but take advantage of the warmer weather and long days during the summer, especially July and August, to make the most of your trip. If you prefer to avoid crowds, visit in May or September. Christmas is also very popular all over England, with celebrations, lights and holiday markets taking place throughout December.
Language: English is the primary language spoken in England, however many residents hail from all over the world, so it's not surprising to hear multiple other languages spoken, especially in bigger cities like London.
Currency: The currency in the U.K. is the pound sterling, also known as GBP or just "the pound."
Getting Around: England has a vast network of trains, which connect both the major cities and smaller towns. While trains are the easiest way to travel, visitors can also rent a car or opt for cheaper buses. Within major cities, look for public transportation, like the Tube in London or the trams in Manchester. Taxis and Ubers are also plentiful in more populous destinations.
Travel Tip: There's a lot to see and do in England despite it being a relatively small country, so plan your itinerary to maximize a particular region or activity. Be sure to give yourself at least two days in London and then venture onward to another area, whether it's the beaches of Dorset or the excitement of a northern city like Manchester.

Things to Do
There are a considerable amount of things to do around England and what you choose to do depends on your preferences. Consider visiting a town like Brighton or Whistable if you want to hang out on the beach, or drive through the picturesque Cotswolds to enjoy the famed English countryside. Historic sites, like Winchester Cathedral and Whitby Abbey, are popular with visitors, as are museums like the Tate Modern in London and Manchester Art Gallery in Manchester. Lovers of literature will also find a lot of interesting attractions, from Jane Austen's House in Hampshire to the birthplace of Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon.
- Pay a visit to Stonehenge , which is a great day trip from London or a stop on the way to Bath or Bristol.
- Take a day trip to Windsor Castle , located in Windsor. Other popular royal sites include Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
- Experience the real Downton Abbey at Highclere Castle , which can be found in Hampshire, not far from Winchester or Newbury.
- Embark on a hiking trip in the Lake District or Peak District, or stroll along the Dorset Coast on the South West Coastal Path .
- Venture southwest to Cornwall, a scenic coastal area with lots to do , like the Tate St. Ives and the Eden Project.
Explore more attractions with our full-length articles on the best things to do in England and the best beaches in England .
What to Eat and Drink
English food is a lot better than you might assume, especially in the bigger cities where there's a vast range of international options. For a truly classic experience, dine in a local pub, which can be a great way to try favorite British dishes like a Sunday roast or bangers and mash (as well as a refreshing pint). The country is dotted with Michelin-starred pubs, like The Crown in Bray and The Hand & Flowers in Marlow, and it's worth seeking out a higher-end pub experience.
- In the seaside towns, seek out fish and chip shops for the freshest catch. When in doubt, ask a local for their favorite shop.
- Enjoy afternoon tea, a traditional experience in England. Visitors can find it at any number of local tea rooms or hotels. Some of the best include Cliveden House Hotel, Fortnum and Mason, and most National Trust properties around the country.
- Indulge in a full English breakfast, which can be found on most breakfast menus around England. It's a good way to fill up for a day of sightseeing, too.
- England may not be famous for its wine, but there are many wineries around the countries, most in the south. Look for vineyards like Rodington, Chapel Down, and Greyfriars.

Where to Stay
Deciding where to stay in England depends on your destination. There are plenty of hotels throughout the country, both in the cities and in rural areas, but some spots, like beach towns, are better experienced with a holiday rental. In the cities, opt for a hotel near the center of town, like Covert Garden in London, to make your trip more walkable. Many pubs also offer accommodation, which can be a cheaper option in small towns. For a splurge, look for luxury country house hotels, like Chewton Glen, Clivden House Hotel, and Lime Wood Hotel.
Getting There
Most travelers coming from the U.S. arrive in London by plane, flying into nearby airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, and City. However, England has numerous airports, some of which are international and have flights to and from the U.S. Visitors from Europe can take the Eurostar train into St. Pancreas from Paris, Brussels, or Amsterdam.
- Heathrow International Airport: Heathrow, located west of London, is the primary airport used by international travelers coming to England. It can be accessed by Tube, train, bus, or taxi, and it's recommended to look into public transportation when arriving during rush hour. The Heathrow Express gets passengers from the airport into Paddington Station in only 15 minutes. Travelers can catch trains to the rest of England from Paddington, as well as Kings Cross, Euston, Waterloo, and Victoria.
- Manchester Airport: Manchester Airport is a large international airport with three terminals, serving the areas around Northwest England, including Liverpool and the Peak District. It's accessible to central Manchester by Metrolink tram service, train, bus, or taxi.
- Birmingham Airport: Birmingham Airport is an international airport located near Birmingham, Coventry, and Leicester, with transportation links to most of central England. Most airlines connect to the U.S. via Europe.
- London City Airport: Located centrally, London City is popular with short-haul flights to Europe, but also services the U.S. via New York City. Taxis or public transportation are both good options to head into London, which has connections to the rest of England via train.
Explore our article on how to get to Heathrow , as well as our guide to London's airports and our guide to England's airports .
Culture and Customs
While England, especially international cities like Manchester and London, can feel similar to the U.S., there are a few differences, notably when it comes to tipping and service. All restaurants and bars will include a service charge (usually 12.5 percent) on the bill, so there's not need to leave extra cash. If you do want to leave a cash tip, 10 to 15 percent is customary. It's also nice to tip food delivery people, taxi drivers and bartenders, although they don't expect large tips the way service people do in the U.S.
If you encounter a long queue, and you likely will, it's considered polite to stand patiently in line without complaint or cutting. The English also have a reputation for being fairly reserved in public, especially on public transportation, so be mindful of your volume, particularly when traveling in a group or with kids. Of course, all of that polite behavior goes out the window at a pub, especially during a sports match.
If you decide to rent a car, there are some important road rules to learn when driving in England, including driving on the opposite side of the road. Read our guide to driving in the U.K. before you head out.
Money Saving Tips
- Take advantage of free museums as much as possible. London and Manchester have many museums that are free to enter, including the British Museum and the Manchester Art Gallery, and there are great free attractions throughout England. It's a good way to see iconic spots without spending any of your travel budget.
- Long-distance buses (called coaches in England) are the cheapest way to get around, although they may not be the most exciting. Those on a budget can opt to take a coach between cities. Look for good options with National Express when journeying to and from London.
- To save money on meals, look for holiday rentals or self-catering accommodations that have kitchens. It's easy to find local grocery stores or markets anywhere in England, so why not try your hand at some bangers and mash at home?
- England is full of beautiful parks and gardens, many of which are free to enter. It's a good way to spend time outside, especially if you bring along a picnic. During the warmer months, take advantage of the country's outdoor spaces for quick and cheap lunches and nice strolls.

Security Increased for Champions League Games After ISIS Threats
Online messages urged violent attacks on four matches, prompting the police in England, France and Spain to step up precautions.
By Aurelien Breeden , Rachel Chaundler and Tariq Panja
Reporting from London and Zaragoza, Spain.
Public safety officials in England, France and Spain said Tuesday that they would step up security for matches this week in the Champions League, Europe’s marquee soccer competition, after ISIS-related groups called for violent attacks on the contests.
The first of four quarterfinal matchups were scheduled in London and Madrid on Tuesday, and were to feature some of the top clubs in world soccer: Spain’s Real Madrid; the English giants Arsenal and Manchester City; and Germany’s Bayern Munich. Two other high-profile matches will take place on Wednesday in Paris and Madrid.
“We don’t know what location might be particularly targeted, neither in what conditions,” the French interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, told reporters in Paris. But he said he had spoken with police officials in Paris on Tuesday morning and had been assured that they “have considerably reinforced the security measures.”
In Spain, the interior ministry said it had raised the country’s terrorist alert level after the appearance of a photo online carrying the message “Kill them all” and the names of the four stadiums where this week’s games are to be played, according to reports in the Spanish newspaper El Mundo. The ministry said security measures at the matches in Madrid had been increased and additional agents deployed.
At least one of the threats was accompanied by an image showing the main entrances to Arsenal’s stadium in London.
“The U.K. terrorism threat level remains at ‘substantial,’ meaning an attack is likely,” said Ade Adelekan, the deputy assistant commissioner for the Metropolitan Police in London. The Metropolitan Police said it would have a “robust” security plan in place for the Arsenal-Bayern Munich match at London’s Emirates Stadium.
“We’re aware of online and media reports in relation to calls to target matches across Europe and here in London,” Commissioner Adelekan said. The police asked the public to report anything “that doesn’t look or feel right,” he said.
Arsenal’s game against Bayern Munich is the first of two quarterfinal matches set to take place on Tuesday. In the other, in Madrid, Real Madrid will host the English champion Manchester City.
On Wednesday, Atlético Madrid will play another German team, Borussia Dortmund, and Paris St.-Germain will host Barcelona.
European soccer’s governing body, UEFA, which organizes the tournament, said that it was aware of the threats and was in communication with the authorities in each city but that the four matches “are planned to go ahead as scheduled with appropriate security arrangements in place.”
Threats from ISIS or ISIS-affiliated groups urging attacks on Western targets are not unusual; in the wake of a deadly assault on a concert venue near Moscow last month, for example, an ISIS spokesman urged so-called lone wolves to attack targets in the United States, Europe and Israel.
While Mr. Darmanin stressed that he had no specific information about the threats in Paris and the other cities, they needed be taken seriously. He said he had directed the French intelligence services to share information with the other countries hosting quarterfinal games.

Sports world reacts to OJ Simpson death with silence and derision
- NFL reports on former player’s death with agency copy
- Former teams do not mention Simpson on social media
If anything got to the heart of OJ Simpson’s troubled legacy in the NFL, it was the lack of reaction to his death from a sport at which he excelled.
Simpson, whose death at the age of 76 was announced on Thursday, was one of the greatest running backs of all time. He played in the NFL for 11 seasons, led the league in rushing on four occasions and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. His induction into the hall came 10 years before the murder trial, where he was controversially acquitted of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, that would overshadow his playing career.
That trial, which ended his image as a lovable retired football star, explains the silence. When Jim Brown, a similarly talented running back, died last year the NFL tweeted a tribute within minutes of the announcement of his passing. “We are heartbroken by the passing of the legendary Jim Brown,” read the tweet. “One of the greatest players in NFL history, a true pioneer and activist. Jim Brown’s legacy will live on forever.” In contrast, the NFL’s only tweet on Thursday morning was a look back at the 1989 draft.
On the NFL’s official website, which usually posts lengthy tributes to former stars when they die, often with video from the league’s huge archive, Simpson’s death was reported with agency copy. There was no look back at his greatest games or finest touchdowns.
ESPN, the mainstream voice of sports in America, aired a segment in which reporter Jeremy Schaap reflected on Simpson . “Anyone who has seriously looked at the evidence ... would have to come to the conclusion that he was a murderer,” said Schaap. “And so am I filled with sorrow today? I’m not.”
NFL teams post tributes to social media when one of their former player dies, even if they only had a brief time with the franchise. But the Buffalo Bills, where Simpson played most of his career and became one of the most famous men in America, did not acknowledge his death on their social media accounts on Thursday. Several hours after Simpson’s death the most recent tweet on the Bills’ X account was a happy birthday message to one of their former wide receivers, Steve Tasker. Simpson’s other professional team, the San Francisco 49ers, and his college team, USC, also chose not to mention his death on their X accounts.
High-profile athletes such as LeBron James, who often reacts to the death of former sports stars, were largely silent. Caitlyn Jenner, who was an Olympic champion when Simpson’s football career was at its peak, tweeted “Good riddance”. Former NFL receiver Torrey Smith was one of the few football players willing to say anything remotely positive about Simpson.
“The amount [of] journalists/media companies that are using OJ’s court pictures to announce his death is disgusting! Regardless of what you may think about him he was innocent in court and has kids out here,” wrote Smith.
But while the sports world stayed largely silent, Simpson’s death was soon trending on X. Many of the most popular tweets were of Simpson being welcomed to hell.
