If you need to seat seven or eight people, there are minivans and SUVs that can handle the job without breaking a sweat. And some full-size SUVs can seat nine passengers if you opt for an available front bench seat.

But what if you need to seat 10 or more people? A full-size van is the best vehicle for the task if you're transporting large groups. There are options in that class with cavernous cabins, able to accommodate as many as 15 passengers.

Full-size vans are sold in passenger-van and cargo-van body styles. As you might expect, the passenger-van version is the one to choose if you’re focused on hauling people, not cargo.

The current class of full-size vans includes two vehicles not listed in our slideshow: the Ram ProMaster and the all-electric Ford E-Transit. While both those models have roomy cabins, they’re not configured from the factory to seat 10 or more people. As a result, they’re not eligible for inclusion in our list.

Our slideshow presents all the vans that can move 10 or more passengers. We’ve included details regarding horsepower, amenities and maximum passenger capacity to help you decide which model is right for you. We’ve listed our selections in alphabetical order.

2023 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van

Automakers typically redesign their cars every five years or so, but full-size vans don’t get the same treatment. The Chevrolet Express is proof; the automaker last redesigned this van with the 1996 model.

Buyers who select the Express passenger van can choose between regular- and extended-wheelbase versions. Twelve-passenger seating is standard, but you can equip this van to seat as many as 15 people.

The Express passenger van comes standard with a swing-out passenger-side door and a swing-out rear side door. A passenger-side sliding door is optional for easier access in tight parking.

Chevy equips the base-model Express passenger van with a modest range of tech and convenience features. Rivals like the Transit have more standard equipment.

If you choose the base model, the Express has a two-speaker stereo with an auxiliary jack for connecting mobile devices. A Wi-Fi hot spot is also standard. The list of optional tech features includes Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and satellite radio.

Aside from a rearview camera, this van’s key driver aids are optional. The lineup of available driver-assistance features includes forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring.

Chevy’s Express has a two-engine lineup consisting of a strong V6 and a muscular V8.

The base engine is a 4.3-liter V6 with 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque, and it comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. More power is available via the optional 6.6-liter V8. It produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and Chevy combines this powertrain with a heavy-duty six-speed automatic.

The V8 is your best bet for towing. Cargo-van versions of the Express pull up to 10,000 pounds with that engine. The maximum tow rating is 9,600 pounds with the passenger-van body style. That figure ties the Express with the GMC Savana for having the most towing power among passenger vans in this class.

2023 Ford Transit Passenger Van

The Ford Transit passenger van gives you many configuration options, allowing you to tailor the vehicle to suit your needs.

You can choose from regular-length, extended-length and long-length versions. The regular-length and long-length Transit passenger vans come standard with 10- and 12-person seating, respectively. The extended-length model comes standard with a 15-passenger seating capacity, so it’s the one to choose if you want the version capable of ferrying the most people.

A sliding passenger-side door is standard. A power-sliding door and power running board are available for easy entry and exit.

Full-size vans of the past were known for being behind the times regarding comfort and tech features. Fortunately, that’s not the case with the 2023 Transit. Available keyless entry is on hand to get you into the cabin, and you can opt for push-button and remote start capabilities.

The standard infotainment setup has a 4-inch display, Bluetooth connectivity and two USB ports. You can beef up this van’s tech with options like navigation, satellite radio, a 12-inch display and an eight-speaker stereo.

All Ford Transit passenger vans have driver aids like forward collision warning, lane-keep assist and forward automatic emergency braking. Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring and a surround-view parking camera system.

Ford gives Transit buyers a choice of two powertrains. The base engine is a 3.5-liter V6 with 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The second option is a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6; it produces 310 horses and has a torque rating of 400 pound-feet. A 10-speed automatic transmission shifts the gears, and rear-wheel comes standard. All-wheel drive is available.

2023 GMC Savana Passenger Van

The GMC Savana is a corporate cousin of the Chevrolet Express. They share the same platform and have some features in common.

GMC gives Savana passenger van buyers a choice of regular- and extended-wheelbase versions. The standard passenger capacity is 12, but you can equip this van to seat up to 15 people.

The Savana passenger van comes standard with a swing-out side door that opens wide to facilitate loading and unloading. You also get swing-out rear cargo door windows and a swing-out rear door. A passenger-side sliding door that opens and slides toward the van's rear is optional.

Like the Chevy Express, the GMC Savana has an unambitious selection of tech and convenience amenities. Other choices in this class provide more robust offerings.

The Savana passenger van comes standard with an AM/FM stereo providing MP3 playback capability. The setup has two speakers located on the van’s front doors, and an auxiliary jack is on hand to connect your small media devices. Every Savana has a Wi-Fi hot spot, and the list of optional equipment includes a four-speaker stereo, a USB port and satellite radio.

A rearview camera is pretty much it regarding standard driver-assistance features. The list of available driver aids includes forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring.

The Savana’s engine lineup starts with a 4.3-liter V6 providing 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque. GMC matches that powertrain with an eight-speed automatic transmission. V8 power is available for those who need it. The optional engine is a 6.6-liter V8 generating 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. A heavy-duty six-speed automatic governs that powertrain.

Its $55,800 base price makes the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter passenger van the most expensive vehicle in its class. Fortunately, it offers innovation, amenities and refinement that help justify its cost.

Mercedes-Benz sells the Sprinter passenger van with either a 144-inch or 170-inch wheelbase. Twelve-passenger seating is standard, and those needing more room can upgrade to a 15-passenger seating configuration.

A power-sliding passenger-side door is optional. The Sprinter also offers an available electric sliding step for easy accessibility.

Mercedes-Benz gives the Sprinter a modern selection of tech and convenience amenities. It’s one of the most compelling picks for drivers seeking a full-size van with modern equipment.

You can choose between optional 7-inch and 10.25-inch touch screens. Wireless device charging and navigation are also available.
