Jodeci, SWV and Dru Hill Announce ‘Summer Block Party’ Tour Dates

Three legendary R&B groups are hitting the road this summer. Live Nation has announced the tour dates for Summer Block Party Presents: Jodeci, SWV & Dru Hill.  Jodeci is headlining the tour with SWV and Dru Hill joining as special guests. 

The North American tour kicks off July 28 in Charlotte, North Carolina, at PNC Music Pavilion. From there, Jodeci, SWV and Dru Hill will play in other major cities such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, St Louis, Nashville and Los Angeles, to name a few.

The first leg will conclude Sept. 8 in Concord, California, at Concord Pavilion. According to Live Nation, more dates will be announced at a later time.

Artist presale begins Tuesday, April 25, at 10 a.m. local time. Live Nation’s presale launches Thursday, April 27, at 10 a.m. local time. All presales will end Thursday, April 27, at 10 p.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, April 28, at 10 a.m. local time.

Each group is expected to perform some of their iconic songs as well as some fan-favorite deep cuts. In 2022, Jodeci supported New Edition on  The Culture Tour , along with Charlie Wilson. In March, Jodeci performed at Jazz in the Gardens in Miami Gardens, Florida. 

Jodeci last released an album in 2015 titled  The Past, The Present, The Future .  It included their hit single “ Every Moment ,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart.

As for SWV, they recently wrapped up the finale of their limited reality series SWV & Xscape: Queens of R&B , which aired on Bravo. The show was created following SWV’s 2021 Verzuz with Xscape .

Before the tour kicks off, the Sisters With Voices will be honored at the 2023 Black Music Honors , along with Missy Elliott ,  Evelyn “Champagne” King ,  Jeffrey Osborne , and The Hawkins Family.

SWV’s last album,  Still , arrived in 2016. It included bops such as “ MCE (Man Crush Everyday) ” and “ Ain’t No Man .” The album debuted and peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. It spent seven weeks on the chart.

Dru Hill released a festive project in 2017 titled  Christmas in Baltimore .  Before that, their last proper album, Indrupendence Day , dropped in 2010.

In 2020, they dropped their single “ What You Need ,” produced by Troy Taylor. The song was supposed to appear on their new album,  The Second Coming , which has yet to be released. 

Dru Hill first teased  The Second Coming  when they announced their two new members – Jawann “Smoke” Peacock and Benjamin “Black” Bush — in 2018. Smoke and Black are also founding members of the R&B trio Playa, which included the late Static Major. 

“We are bringing our churchy, soulful vocals — which is the foundation of Playa’s legacy — and adding them to the legacy of Dru Hill,” Smoke told VIBE . “I feel like we bring a whole other concept of harmonies and melodies to the table. And not only that, we’re writers, producers, and arrangers.”

Three of the most commercially successful R&B groups from the 1990s will hit the road together this year. Jodeci will headline the “Summer Block Party Tour” with SWV and Dru Hill as supporting acts.

Over the weekend, the official Jodeci account on Instagram confirmed the “Summer Block Party Tour” is on the way in the near future. All four members of Jodeci will be part of the North American trek.

DeVanté Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and JoJo make up Jodeci. Sometimes referred to as The Bad Boys of R&B, the Uptown Records originals released chart-topping singles such as “Forever My Lady,” “Come and Talk to Me,” and “Cry for You.”

The “Summer Block Party Tour” will also feature SWV, best known for songs like “Weak” and “Right Here/Human Nature.” Dru Hill is part of the lineup as well. The foursome scored hits with tracks like “Tell Me” and “In My Bed.”

Jodeci Will Join Mary J Blige For The SOAW Festival In ATL

The “Summer Block Party Tour” announcement comes after Mary J. Blige’s Strength Of A Woman Festival booked Jodeci for the 2023 event in Atlanta. It will be the first time Blige and the four men shared a stage together in over 30 years.

“At the end of the day, Jodeci and Mary J. Blige, we’re a family, and we helped each other in a lot of ways,” said Blige in March. “Me and JoJo wrote some songs together, and he sang background.”

She added, “So regardless of whatever our little beef was back in the day, we were young, but now we’re all grown. At the end of the day, I’m a fan of Jodeci. We realize how important we are to each other, so it was beautiful to see them.”

Former couple K-Ci and Mary J. Blige collaborated for “I Don’t Want to Do Anything” off MJB’s  What’s the 411? album from 1992. DeVante Swing produced and co-wrote the song. Jodeci’s JoJo and K-Ci also worked with Blige to write songs on her second studio LP  My Life .

The three legacy r&b acts may be bringing their block party to your city..

Three of ’90s R&B’s most prominent groups are going on a Live Nation Urban-produced block party tour this summer. Running from July 28 to September 8, Charlotte’s Jodeci is linking up with New York City’s SWV and Baltimore’s Dru Hill for what’s gearing up to be the most nostalgic tour of the year.

Artist presales start on Tuesday, April 25 at 10 a.m. local time, and Live Nation will host its own presale on Thursday, April 27 at 10 a.m. local. Everyone else can purchase tickets on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local. Tickets will be available for purchase on Ticketmaster .

Jodeci , SWV, and Dru Hill have announced a massive summer tour. BET reported that the Summer Block Party–which is set to kick off in June 2023—will make its way throughout the United States and Canada.

“The ‘Summer Block Party’ tour promises to be a nostalgic journey back to the golden era of R&B, giving fans the opportunity to relive some of the most memorable moments in the genre’s history,” reported the outlet. “With a combination of soul-stirring ballads, infectious dance tracks, and stunning harmonies, this tour is set to be the must-see event of the summer.” Fans can sign up for early ticket access so they can get emails for exclusive pre-sales when they become available.

Hailing from Charlotte, N.C. and consisting of two sets of brothers – Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey and Joel “JoJo” Hailey and Donald “Devante Swing” DeGrate and Dalvin “Mr. Dalvin” DeGrate – all with deep roots in  gospel music , the foursome formed one of the most hallowed R&B groups of all time. Their Southern fried musicality and sanctified vocal harmonies separated them from their contemporaries in the scene such as Boyz II Men , Blackstreet, the aforementioned Dru Hill, among others.

Rocking baseball caps, sports jerseys, and military boots (from the marketing mind of a young Sean “Puffy” Combs), they became known as the “bad boys of R&B” and on  The Show, the After Party, the Hotel …. they lived up to the name.

Released on July 18, in the sweltering summer of 1995,  The Show, the After Party, the Hotel  fused  New Jack Swing  with silky vocal arrangements and hip-hop grooves. The album features contributions from the Swing Mob, a collection of singers, rappers, writers, and producers organized by DeVante Swing. Members such as Stevie J, Timbaland, and Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott, who would all go on to achieve significant success in their own right, helped to craft the experimental sound on  The Show .

Legendary R&B groups Jodeci, SWV and Dru Hill are coming to a block party near you!

Jodeci, SWV and Dru Hill are the latest acts to join the 2023 summer tour circuit. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will make 21-city stops with more dates to be released.

The presale starts tomorrow (April 25) at 10 a.m for fans who signed up for the presale code. The general on-sale begins Friday, April 28.

The tour will bring the powerhouse R&B vocalists together to take fans on a nostalgic flashback to the 90s.

Jodeci , comprised of members, DeVante Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and JoJo, is known for their new jack swing style, producing unforgettable hits including, “Forever My Lady,” “Come and Talk to Me,” and “Freek’n You.”

Acclaimed R&B group, Dru Hill will hit the stage singing their classic hits, “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” “How Deep Is Your Love.” Mark “Sisqó” Andrews served as the lead singer alongside Tamir “Nokio” Ruffin, Larry “Jazz” Anthony and James “Woody” Green. While Dru Hill is still active, the group achieved most of their success in the 90s.

Female powerhouse trio, SWV , includes Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” Johnson-George, and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons. SWV’s ability to blend their gospel vocals with R&B stamped them as as force in the industry. “Weak,” “Rain,” “I’m So Into You,” are only a few nostalgic bangers fans can expect to hear at the concert.

Dru Hill has a new lineup every single time they tour. I can’t figure out when and how they got to seven people in the group. Sisqo is the only one who has the same voice, same energy, same everything.

That’s why I’m not going to their concert when they come to my hometown on April 21st. I would but naa I’ll pass..I want to see the original 4 if it ain’t them I don’t want to see it..and then they are bringing Sunshine Anderson with them..I sure as hell do NOT want to see her so I’ll just stay at home and watch my old-school 90s R&B videos that night

Hailed as “The Bad Boys of R&B,” Jodeci is one of the most influential R&B throughout the culture K-Ci, DeVante Swing, JoJo, and Mr. Dalvin have sold over 20 million records worldwide, and achieved three #1 albums on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart. In 2023, Jodeci headlined their own highly anticipated Summer Block Party Tour selling out shows from coast to coast, joined by SWV and Dru Hill.

Their debut album Forever My Lady (1991) was a huge success reaching #1 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart in its first week of release, and featured hit single, “Forever My Lady,” which climbed to #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks chart. The album’s classic hits “Come & Talk To Me,” and “Stay,” also topped the charts reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Their second album, Diary Of A Mad Band (1993) went #1 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart, penning their hit single, “Cry For You” which landed at #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks chart. Jodeci’s third album, The Show, The After Party, The Hotel (1995) gave the group their third #1 album on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart, producing hit songs “Freek’n You,” and “Love U 4 Life.”

In 2021, Jodeci reunited and signed with P Music Group for management by Founder and CEO Michael Paran. To kick off their reunion, Jodeci joined Charlie Wilson and New Edition for a 30-city tour in 2022, on the critically acclaimed "The Culture Tour.” Jodeci's legendary sound and style have shaped the world of R&B and continue to influence a new generation of artists.

SUMMER BLOCK PARTY: Epic Summer Tour Featuring JODECI, SWV and DRU HILL To Kick Off In July!

Live Nation Urban announces what promises to be one of the biggest R&B tours of 2023— Summer Block Party Presents: Jodeci, SWV & Dru Hill . This extensive North American jaunt will be headlined by Charlotte, NC multi-platinum quartet Jodeci and joined by legendary R&B vocal trio SWV and R&B group Dru Hill. Fittingly, it kicks off with a homecoming for the headliners at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC on July 28, visits major markets coast-to-coast, and concludes at Concord Pavilion in Concord, CA on September 8.

Artist presale goes live on Tuesday, April 25 at 10am local time, while a Live Nation presale follows Thursday, April 27 at 10am local time. All presales end  Thursday, April 27 th at 10:00pm local time and general on-sale begins Friday April 28 at 10am local time.

It seems that fans of Melbourne’s Closure In Moscow just can’t get enough. Days after wrapping up their Supreme Turbo Facilitator Tour (selling out all but one of the shows) the popular five piece have announced their Singularity Tour featuring headline dates in all capital cities.

The tour marks the beginning of what plans to be a super massive travel cycle for Closure In Moscow as they head across to the U.S on the Warped Tour playing all 44 shows.
