GUIDE TO THE BEST  PACKAGES

What are super bowl packages.

A Super Bowl package is a unique experience that is created for an individual who wants to remove the headache and time required to put together a once in a lifetime sports weekend.

What’s Included in a Super Bowl Package?

Like any fan travel experience, Super Bowl packages bring together key elements, including a hotel stay, game tickets, a unique pregame activity, and usually involves some sort of transportation on game day, such as a luxury motor coach or limousine.

Why would someone want a 2020 Package?

Purchasing a complete package can deliver an exclusive weekend of premium experiences without having to spend your time trawling the Internet for hotel rooms and accommodation.

Here at Fan Hospitality, we’ve done all the hard work for you and secured the best deals out there.

Where to find the best Super Bowl packages?

You could spend hours of research trying to find the best Super Bowl package. But, we decided to put together this awesome guide to sift through all the available packages online to discover the best options for fans traveling to the game.

Can you save money by purchasing package elements separately?

You can most definitely save money by purchasing all of your Super Bowl trip components at once.

What types of packages are there?

Super bowl hotel package.

This type of package includes hotel accommodations, gift bag, game tickets, ground transportation to and from the stadium on game day, and usually a tailgate party of some sorts.

Super Bowl tailgate package

Like the hotel package, but without the hotel. The ticket package usually consists of game tickets and a tailgate party.

Super Bowl travel package

Like the hotel package, the Super Bowl travel package includes everything you need for the entire weekend, including airfare to/from the Super Bowl host city.

Super Bowl party package

Our favorite package by far includes game tickets, hotel accommodations, a gift bag, game day transportation, and to top it off, all includes access to the hottest celebrity filled parties all weekend – think Rolling Stone or Playboy!

What package add-ons are available?

super bowl trip

Super Bowl parties are like none other. Filled with glitz and glamour these celebrity driven parties turn up the heat during the wild weekend of festivities and allow you to immerse yourself with the passionate fans before during the biggest weekend in sports travel in the Unites States.

Airfare can be ridiculously expensive sometimes costing 3x-4x the typical fare.

We’ve seen prices for New York to New Orleans at $1300 with a departure date of Thursday prior and a return on the Monday following the Super Bowl. These flights usually run $300 on a normal weekend.

Due to the high demand many ticket brokers and travel companies buy up airfare and resell the tickets at 2x-3x the purchase price, sometimes saving you a few hundred dollars.

Hotel suite upgrades

Packages usually include run of the house rooms which are typically deluxe king or queen standard rooms at any hotel.

If you have an extra few thousand laying around why not upgrade to a suite? Suites typically include around 600sqft +, and sometimes include 2+ bedrooms for your family.

4/5 star Super Bowl Hotels

Most 4 or 5 star hotels in the downtown area of any host city during Super Bowl sometimes can run $10,000 for a 3 night stay.

Super Bowl Team Hotels

If you’re lucky you might be able to snag a hotel an either the AFC or NFC hotel for $15,000+. Typically at the Marriott.

Are packages only for individuals?

No. We have a strong track record of delivering corporate events that impress and can help you to plan out your entire corporate Super Bowl Package experience.

Are there any VIP upgrades for packages?

From luxury hotel rooms, VIP concierge, and chauffeur driven services, through to in-stadium catering, premium seats, and match-day hospitality, we have everything covered.

Our Super Bowl packages make great gifts or are ideal if you are looking to impress your corporate clients or employees.

What is the most expensive Super Bowl package?

Great question! We have seen a million dollar and a $2 million dollar Super Bowl packages.

Both packages offering incredible elements including extravagant mansions, access for 40+ to a luxury suite, VIP treatment at the best parties and town.

The $2 million dollar package

This one adds house staff, including a chef to cure those party hangovers for Rolling Stone or Maxim the night before to get you ready for the Super Bowl match-up itself.

How to Travel to Super Bowl LVI on a Budget

Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money .

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events each year. While most Americans watch the big game with family or friends, some devoted football fans attend in person. Super Bowl LVI will be held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Feb. 13, 2022. If you're planning to be there in person, here's how to make the trip to Super Bowl LVI on a budget.

Flying to the Super Bowl

Nearest airports.

There are many airport options to choose from when traveling to Southern California. Unfortunately, some airports are further away from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. But, they can be worthwhile options depending on the routing, pricing and award availability.

The airports serving the Los Angeles area include:

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX): 4 miles away.

Long Beach Airport (LGB): 21 miles away.

Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR): 30 miles away.

John Wayne Airport (SNA): 42 miles away.

Ontario International Airport (ONT): 53 miles away.

LAX generally has the most flight options since it is the largest airport in the area. However, Bethany Walsh, a travel rewards expert at BougieMiles.com, says, "smaller airports can offer competitive pricing and routes, depending on where you're traveling from. They also tend to have less congestion at the airport, which can reduce the stress of flying."

Flying to LAX with points and miles

You can fly almost any domestic airline into LAX. Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and Alaska Airlines have a significant presence.

Southwest has nonstop flights to LAX from 28 cities as far east as Nashville. The price of flights varies by day and route. For example, you could book round-trip flights from Phoenix to Los Angeles for less than 8,000 points for Super Bowl weekend, leaving on Friday, Feb. 11, and returning on Monday, Feb. 14.

super bowl trip

If Delta is your airline of choice, you might be better off turning Super Bowl weekend into Super Bowl week. The cheapest dates to fly from Atlanta to Los Angeles with SkyMiles are Wednesday, Feb. 9, to the following Wednesday, Feb. 16.

super bowl trip

Meanwhile, round-trip from Boston to Los Angeles could probably run you at least 30,000 miles on United for travel from Friday to Monday.

super bowl trip

Flying to Long Beach Airport with points and miles

Since LGB is the next closest regional airport, it's another viable option. You can fly to LGB nonstop from 16 destinations on four airlines:

American Airlines: Two nonstop flights.

Delta Air Lines: One nonstop flight.

Hawaiian Airlines: Two nonstop flights.

Southwest Airlines: 14 nonstop flights.

Three of these nonstop destinations — Honolulu, Maui and Phoenix — are serviced by more than one airline.

Travelers have the most options on Southwest; its nonstop flights to LGB range from California cities like San Jose, Oakland, and Sacramento, to farther destinations east, like Chicago, St. Louis and Houston.

Southwest flight costs vary based on travel dates and your departure city. For example, you can find flights from Chicago-Midway to LGB on Thursday, Feb. 10, starting at only 3,458 points and a return flight on Tuesday, Feb. 15, beginning at 2,686 points. Travelers with flexible schedules can find the cheapest flights with the Southwest Low Fare Calendar.

American Airlines operates many hubs across the country and two of them offer flights that fly directly into Long Beach: Dallas-Fort Worth and Phoenix.

From Dallas-Fort Worth, you can fly to Long Beach for 14,000 AAdvantage miles round-trip. That's 7,500 miles on Feb. 10 and 6,500 miles on Feb. 15 — and these prices are available on several dates.

Hotels on points for Super Bowl LVI

It can be challenging to book hotel rooms with points during Super Bowl weekend in many cities. However, because Los Angeles is such a large city with many hotels, you can find availability for almost any loyalty program. Even so, you may have to stay further away depending on the hotel brand.

Marriott hotels within five miles of the stadium

Marriott lists 172 hotels when searching for Inglewood; however, the options considerably shrink if you want to stay close to the stadium. Marriott has 20 properties within five miles of the stadium. Unfortunately, only one has rooms available if you wish to use Marriott Bonvoy points to book your stay: The Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles International Airport.

super bowl trip

Photo courtesy of The Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles International Airport

This hotel is only 2.1 miles from Inglewood and it is conveniently located near LAX.

Cost to book in points: This property has rooms that start at 40,000 points per night. When booking any Marriott hotel with points, you'll receive the 5th night free — a 20% savings on points. So, for example, for a five-night stay from Thursday to Tuesday, you'd redeem the 5th-night-free benefit and pay 160,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

There are no additional charges, except for the daily $40 fee for parking. However, if paying in cash, you will shell out $484 per night, for a total of $2,423, including all taxes and fees.

Hilton hotels near So-Fi Stadium

Hilton's website returned 27 properties in the Los Angeles area for Inglewood searches, but only 13 are within five miles of the city. In addition, most of these hotels are sold out for the big game weekend. So, your options are limited if you want to book a Hilton hotel during Super Bowl weekend with points.

super bowl trip

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Los Angeles International Airport South is your best option, only 3.5 miles away from Inglewood. Embassy Suites offers more space than most standard hotel rooms because every unit is a suite with a separate bedroom and sitting area. Plus, Embassy Suites is known for its complimentary evening happy hour and made-to-order hot breakfasts.

Cost to book in points: Hilton doesn't have a set award chart, but rooms tend to cost between 38,000 and 50,000 points. If you have Hilton Honors Silver status or higher, you'll receive the fifth night free on an award stay. A cash reservation would cost around $393 per night, or a total of about $1,965, for five nights from Feb. 10 to the 15th including taxes and fees.

Hyatt hotel close to the stadium

super bowl trip

Hyatt has six properties within five miles of Inglewood. Of these properties, four are sold out and only one allows rooms to be booked with points on Super Bowl weekend — The Hyatt House Los Angeles/LAX/Manhattan Beach.

This Hyatt House property offers a two-bedroom, two-bath trio suite ideal for families or friends traveling together. These large suites also have a living area and a fully-equipped kitchen if you want to make any meals during your stay.

Cost to book in points: Category 3 (rooms start at 12,000 points or $610 per night).

While rooms can be booked with points and cash ($519 + 6,000 points), it may not be the best choice because a standard cash reservation is $610 per night. That means you're only getting 1.5 cents per point with the points and cash reservation.

Jon Nickel-D'Andrea, the first class cabin enthusiast behind NoMasCoach.com, advises against cash and points redemptions like this. Instead, he says, "you're better off saving your Hyatt points for a higher-end redemption, as you would be receiving almost 25% less in value for your points by booking this room."

The bottom line

It is possible to travel to the Super Bowl on points and miles because Southern California has many airport and hotel options. Major domestic airlines fly into LAX and several of the most popular also fly into Long Beach, a smaller airport close to the stadium. So your best option is to compare flights to airports serving the Los Angeles area and find the one that matches your schedule and offers the best deal.

Hotels in Inglewood close to SoFi Stadium may be tough to book with points, so expand your search to nearby cities. In addition, some credit cards have travel portals that allow you to book hotels with flexible points , which opens up even more options for your stay.

Bookseats.com does it all, if you're traveling from overseas, across the country, or even if you already live in Florida! Our priority is to save you time and money, and our Super Bowl travel packages have everything you need them to.

Do you plan on staying in Tampa for the 2021 Super Bowl, but don't have tickets? Don't worry! We can help, securing game tickets for you. How about if you are too far away to drive? That's no worry either! Bookseats.com can get you a Super Bowl flight and an amazing Super Bowl hotel that fits your budget, not to mention Super Bowl tickets at Raymond James Stadium.

If your number one goal is getting amazing Super Bowl hotel accommodations, experiencing the Super Bowl tailgate party at another stadium, or keeping it local by only getting your fingers on some home game tickets, we've got the ideal Super Bowl package for you.

How Does It Work?

Normally, when crafting a Bookseats.com travel package for a normal NFL game, your first step would be to explore the schedule, pick the destination and rivalry you want to experience, and then look up hotel locations and rates for a NFL travel package that best correlates with your gang’s needs.

However, with the 2021 Super Bowl, there's no need for any of that!

Everybody already knows when and where it will be, so your only real selections will be choosing the perfect location of the tickets for Super Bowl 2021 in Raymond James Stadium. As long as you let us know your location preference and budget, we'll do the remaining. 50 yard line Super Bowl tickets? Don't mind if you do!

To create a Super Bowl travel package personalized to meet the exact requirements of you and your party.

As for Super Bowl flights and Super Bowl hotels, with Bookseats.com, all we need to know is how large your group will be, where you're coming from, and your preferred travel dates. Once you've submitted that info, you'll be able to easily choose from any combination of Super Bowl accommodations, Super Bowl flight times and Super Bowl ticket packages that work best.

Just ask yourself: would I rather stay near the electricity of the city center, or get Super Bowl hotel accommodations close to the stadium? Do I have to be back at work on Monday morning, or can I have a week of it in Tampa?

And if you're already in Florida and don't require Super Bowl flights? No problem! We can limit our Super Bowl packages to only include Super Bowl hotels and Super Bowl tickets, or even only game tickets without a hotel! With us, there's no reason to be worried that the 2021 Super Bowl at Raymond James Stadium is already sold out. Take a sigh of relief, because at Bookseats.com, we can source tickets to almost any match - even if you've heard it was sold out.

Thanks to our relationships with hundreds of airline and hotel partners, we can get you the most competitive rates, every time. You won't miss a second of the game, as we even display Uber rates and forecasted travel times to the stadium from whatever hotel you're in, so transportation and timing are a breeze.

How to get to the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas

Sean Cudahy

For football fans, the countdown is on: There's less than a month until the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas .

The event figures to be quite the spectacle. As usual, there's the game featuring the NFL's top teams in front of a television audience of millions. There's also the halftime show, which Usher will headline this year.

But what may make the big game an even larger draw this year is that, for the first time, it's in Vegas — one of the nation's top tourist destinations, famous for its resorts, casinos and sportsbooks.

If you're considering traveling to Vegas for the game or booking a last-minute trip if your favorite team qualifies, there's little time to waste.

When and where is Super Bowl 58?

super bowl trip

Super Bowl 58 is set for Sunday, Feb. 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. PST.

It will be the first Super Bowl for the stadium, which opened in 2020 and is named for its budget airline corporate sponsor, Nevada-based Allegiant Air .

Which teams are playing in the Super Bowl this year?

It's too early to know. The Super Bowl matchup will be set Sunday, Jan. 28, when the top teams in the AFC and NFC face off in their respective conference championship games.

That means once your favorite team qualifies, you'll have less than two weeks until kickoff to book flights and hotels and land tickets.

Are flights available to the Super Bowl?

Plenty of seats are still available on flights to Vegas for the Super Bowl. After all, the city's Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is one of the busiest airports in the country.

It's also a top destination for many leisure-oriented airlines like Southwest Airlines and ultra-low-cost carriers such as Spirit Airlines.

super bowl trip

Whether you can find affordable flights, though, is a different story.

According to booking app Hopper, even the best deals you'll find to Vegas for Super Bowl weekend are likely to be at least 25% more expensive compared to the month of February as a whole.

And those are just averages. As always, the fares you actually find as you search for your specific route and travel dates may be much pricier — particularly if you're traveling to Vegas just before Super Bowl weekend and departing the Monday after the game.

Let's say you're a Baltimore fan hoping to lock in a reservation, banking on the fact that the Ravens are currently the top seed in the AFC playoffs.

A Thursday-to-Monday round trip to Las Vegas from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) aboard Southwest Airlines currently goes for $470.

super bowl trip

Prices may be a bit more palatable from the Bay Area for fans of the NFC's top-seeded San Francisco 49ers — another Super Bowl contender. We found a $333 round trip from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Vegas on Alaska Airlines.

super bowl trip

Viable award availability is a challenge, too. Though you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a seat that's technically bookable with miles, there's a good chance you'll have to part ways with a significant number of miles.

Will more flights be added?

Oftentimes, airlines will add flights to the Super Bowl from the cities of participating teams.

American Airlines did this last year, for instance, between Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) after the Eagles qualified.

Might airlines do something similar this year?

It's possible, though you'll probably need to check back after the matchup is set Jan. 28.

Southwest Airlines told TPG it's keeping an eye on travel trends and booking patterns to and from Vegas — already one of its largest operations, with 230 daily departures to nearly 70 cities across the airline's network.

It's also worth noting that some airlines have been known to shift newer, nicer aircraft to the Super Bowl; American Airlines, for one, is shifting its Airbus A321T aircraft to carry travelers to Vegas that weekend.

Are hotels available?

The story with hotels is a similar one. In a city with so many hotel rooms, there is still availability. However, you'll likely find both expensive rates and sky-high points pricing.

How much does it cost to stay in Vegas for the Super Bowl?

We searched for four-night stays from Thursday, Feb. 8, to Monday, Feb. 12 — essentially right during the peak Super Bowl period.

Nightly rates at the major resorts and casinos included:

  • $404 per night at Luxor
  • $407 per night at Excalibur
  • $722 at MGM Grand
  • $856 per night at New York-New York
  • $860 per night at Park MGM
  • $1,092 per night at Bellagio
  • $1,137 per night at Aria
  • $1,751 at The Cosmopolitan

A lot of hotels don't have award availability at all. And those that do may be places where you'd rather not redeem your hard-earned points. (For instance, we found a three-night stay at a Fairfield Inn for 126,000 Marriott Bonvoy points — an average of 42,000 points per night.)

That being said, if you think there's any possibility you'd like to attend the Super Bowl if your favorite team makes it later this month, you should go ahead and lock in a flexible booking. You can typically cancel it later at no penalty if you decide not to go.

Getting tickets to the Super Bowl

All this about flights and hotels, and no mention of actually attending the game.

Don't expect a discount. Standard, semi-affordable tickets have long since sold out, so the prices you'll find now will likely be four or even five digits.

On Ticketmaster, we found tickets starting at $11,000.

super bowl trip

We found tickets on StubHub for as low as ... $6,700.

super bowl trip

There are also a variety of packages you can purchase through hospitality provider On Location, the official tourism provider of the NFL.

Some packages include a ticket to the game, a hotel stay and access to special Super Bowl week parties and events (and the food and drinks that come with those events). These all-inclusive packages start at around $12,000 per person, depending on the resort involved.

Tips for booking Super Bowl travel

Though the terms "Super Bowl" and "cost effective" generally don't go together, here are some steps you may want to take if you're planning a trip to Vegas for this year's event.

Book cancelable flights now, even if you're not 100%

Even if you're waiting to make a final decision on traveling to the Super Bowl, it's a good idea to lock in your airfare now. After all, prices typically rise as you book closer to your travel date, and you're unlikely to find a good deal by Jan. 28 or 29, when the teams are set.

However, on the three legacy U.S. carriers and Southwest, you can cancel most tickets and at least get trip credit back if you decide not to travel — just don't book a basic economy ticket. (Budget airlines typically do not have this flexibility.)

This is also when booking using points or miles can be helpful. You can cancel most award tickets and get your miles back at no penalty.

Lock in flexible hotel reservations now, too

It's the same story for hotels (and car rentals). Book them now, and go with flexible reservations you can cancel if you decide not to travel.

Most standard hotel reservations (and reservations made with points) can be canceled penalty-free if you do so at least a few days before your scheduled check-in date.

super bowl trip

Try alternative airports or dates

If you live in a metropolitan area with multiple airports relatively close by, open up your airfare or award space search to include more airports.

For instance, let's assume that the Ravens end up making the Super Bowl again. A Baltimore resident may be inclined to fly out of BWI.

However, here's a round trip out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) for 21,500 miles on American Airlines — a handy option if you've got a stash of AAdvantage miles or Bilt Rewards points to transfer.

super bowl trip

Also, just like with any major holiday or event, the earlier you can arrive and the later you can leave, the more you'll save.

That goes for cash fares and award rates.

For instance, you'd pay 32,500 MileagePlus miles one-way for this United Airlines Monday return flight from Vegas to San Francisco International Airport (SFO). If you extend your trip until the Wednesday after the Super Bowl, though, the rate drops to fewer than 7,000 miles.

super bowl trip

Of course, that does mean you'd be paying for more hotel nights, but it could be a useful tactic if you're inclined to spend a few days in the city after the chaos of the Super Bowl winds down.

Piece together an itinerary with sweet spots (and cash)

Hoping to use miles for a flight to Vegas for the Super Bowl? You might check some international airline loyalty programs .

For instance, travelers can sometimes find United flights for just a few thousand miles by converting credit card points to Avianca LifeMiles .

You may be able to do the same using Avios on American Airlines.

Here's a one-way to Vegas for 6,500 miles for the Thursday before the Super Bowl — a United flight booked through Avianca. I'd have to find a return flight (no award space on the way back), but this could "solve" half the puzzle of finding cheap flights, at least.

super bowl trip

Go with a budget airline and backpack it

Just about every major low-cost carrier flies a robust schedule to Las Vegas. Even if you wouldn't normally be inclined to fly with Allegiant or Spirit Airlines, this may be the time to see if a fare works for you.

Don't forget to factor in all the fees you'll pay on top of your base fare. On the contrary, if you can travel with just a personal item that fits under the seat, you can make the flight portion of your travels much more affordable.

Leverage credit card offers

Check your credit card offers for potential trip savings.

I carry The Platinum Card® from American Express and found this offer: Spend $500 or more at Hilton Las Vegas and Nevada properties, get $100 back.

super bowl trip

Though such offers are typically targeted at specific credit card holders (and thus not available to all cardholders), they can really help reduce the cost of your travels.

super bowl trip

Consider staying away from the Strip

The Super Bowl is certainly a splurge trip, much like traveling to watch the Olympics in person. To that end, going to the Super Bowl in Vegas and not staying on or near the Strip might well defeat the purpose.

However, if you're looking to sacrifice some luxury on the hotel end, there are cheaper options at budget-tier properties farther outside the city center.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Has Finally Offered An Explanation For Her Super Bowl Extravaganza

The office of Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) has issued a statement about her trip to the Super Bowl following a TPM report that highlighted the high costs of her tickets and the ethical questions raised by her big night at the big game. According to a written statement Sanders’ spokesperson, Alexa Henning, provided to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette newspaper, the governor and her family of five “were in the upper level, not a suite” as they cheered on the victorious Kansas City Chiefs.

“And no taxpayer money was used for tickets to the game for her security detail,” Henning added.

As a public official, Sanders is subject to regulations that bar her from receiving gifts valued over $100. She had also faced prior controversies related to her use of taxpayer funds. Her family’s big night at the most expensive football game of all time brought up all of these issues — particularly because Henning did not respond to any questions (including multiple inquiries from TPM) about how the governor obtained tickets.

In fact, much remains unanswered following Henning’s statement — including questions about field passes the family flaunted at the Super Bowl, prior instances where Sanders posted social media photos in which she appeared to be enjoying extraordinary access to Chiefs games, and whether any of this needed to appear on her required financial disclosure documents. The disclosure requirements matter because, even if Sanders did indeed ultimately pay her own way, there are substantial indications she received perks at the Super Bowl and another Chiefs game that were not available on the open market and could be considered a gift for regulatory purposes.

Sanders’ office did not immediately respond to renewed questions from TPM, following the Wednesday statement, about these details and others.

Sanders published video and pictures on her Instagram page on Feb. 12, the day after the big game in Las Vegas. The post showed what Ken Solky, one of Sin City’s top ticket brokers, described to TPM as seemingly “not just a suite but a pretty damn good suite.” Arkansas Times Investigative Reporter Matt Campbell also analyzed the clips in a thread on Twitter and pointed out evidence Sanders’ video appeared to be filmed from the suites.

Henning did not respond to an email asking her to address evidence suggesting that her claim the governor was “in the upper level, not a suite” did not give the full picture. The precise location where Sanders, her husband, and their three children sat raises questions because it would affect the value of her tickets. According to Solky, suite seats had a minimum face value of $37,500 each, which would mean the family’s trip was worth $187,500. Even if they were in cheaper seats, it was still an expensive evening. The cheapest face value tickets were reportedly $2,000 each, which would put the Sanders’ tab at $10,000.

The governor’s husband, Bryan Sanders, is a Kansas native and the family are ardent Chiefs fans. Sanders may have, as Henning claimed, paid for all of this herself, but tickets were just one part of the family’s Super Bowl experience.

On Instagram, Sanders posted pictures of her family at pre-game parties and hanging out on the field — including for the halftime show featuring R&B singer Usher. They displayed passes for each of these things including some branded with the Chiefs logo that, according to Solky, were given to the team and other insiders. In her statement, Henning said Sanders would not include any gifts related to the Super Bowl on her financial disclosure for this year, which will be made public in 2025. However, even if she paid for them, if she received passes that were not available on the open market from a private source, that would constitute a gift, experts told TPM. Henning did not respond to follow-up questions from TPM about the Chiefs-branded passes the family displayed in Sanders’ post.

Theoretically, some of the special Super Bowl passes given via the team could have ended up for sale on the secondary market. If Sanders purchased them there, they would come at a steep markup, but would not be considered a gift, and might not require disclosure.

However, prior to the Super Bowl, Sanders enjoyed a Chiefs game where she clearly seems to have been given special access by the team.

As TPM reported, last November, Sanders posted another set of pictures on Instagram showing her family taking in the team at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Based on details in the photos, the Sanders clan was in attendance when the Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles and they were sitting in owner Clark Hunt’s private suite. Sanders even posed for pictures with Hunt’s wife, Tavia. The Hunts and the Chiefs’ communications team did not respond to questions about how Sanders ended up in the owner’s suite. Of course, Henning also did not respond.

Making it into the owner’s private box would seemingly require being given special tickets. Of course, the owner might not necessarily have to pay an individual price for guests in their own suite. Graham Sloan, the director of the Arkansas Ethics Commission, which is responsible for evaluating complaints about potential violations of the rules on gifts, told TPM that any suite tickets that were free for the giver would be valued as much as the highest price standard seat at that game for regulatory purposes. In spite of this, Sanders’ 2023 statement of financial interest, which was released earlier this month, did not make any mention of the game at Arrowhead.

Henning did not address the 2023 game where Sanders apparently sat in the owner’s box in her statement. She did not answer follow-up questions from TPM about why it was absent from Sanders’ financial disclosure, which listed several far less expensive gift items.

Along with making headlines, TPM’s report on Sanders’ Super Bowl extravaganza has raised questions from experts and even inspired memes in Arkansas. The reaction has been fueled by prior scandals over Sanders’ spending including her infamous, approximately $19,000 podium (or lectern for those of you in the grammar police) and a college football party she hosted with about $13,000 in taxpayer funds. Amid the mounting questions over her spending, Sanders backed an effort in 2023 to curb Arkansas’ Freedom of Information Act that makes it much harder for reporters to obtain the records that might help answer all the questions left unanswered by her response to Podiumgate and/or Lecterngate, and, now, the emerging Chiefsgate.

Super Bowl trips have proven, in recent years, to be a thorny issue for politicians. Similar concerns about the cost of a trip Gov. Mike DeWine (R) and his wife took to the 2022 Super Bowl have prompted fallout in Ohio. After TPM’s report on Sanders, Ohio State Rep. Elliot Forhan (D) reached out to say he is introducing a bill in that state’s legislature on Thursday that would create an exception that would designate as a public record documents related to expenses the governor and anyone in their party incurred while attending entertainment or sporting events. Forhan’s bill, which would help reporters and members of the public to monitor the cost for these trips, is called the “Super Bowl Entourage Expense Act.”

In Arkansas, it is unclear whether Henning’s questionable explanation will be enough for Sanders’ critics and colleagues. On Wednesday, Sloan, the Ethics Commission director, told TPM he could not comment on whether his office had received any complaints related to the Super Bowl or Sanders’ 2023 trip to watch the Chiefs.

An audit of Sanders’ podium purchase is expected to be completed by a subcommittee of the state’s Legislative Joint Auditing Committee by the end of March . Rep. Jimmy Gazaway (R), one of the committee’s co-chairs, told TPM there are no plans to audit Sanders’ Chiefs trips. However, if there is pressure from lawmakers, that might change.

“As with any request, if a member makes a request for an audit, we’ll take it under consideration,” Gazaway said.

I’m an NFL quarterback who played in Super Bowl – now I’m going on a road trip in a tractor with my teammate

SAN Francisco 49ers star Brock Purdy is used to the big stage, but now he's showing his acting skills off… while driving a tractor.

Yes, you read that correctly. Purdy has been driving a tractor in a new John Deere commercial.

Purdy driving the tractor in the commercial

In the commercial, Purdy is seen on the hunt for a CTO – that’s Chief Tractor Officer – to be a part of John Deere's social media team.

Purdy is joined by his 49ers teammate Colton McKivitz in the video where they attempt to go on a road trip to find the new "QB of JD".

The problem is the pair hardly make it anywhere.

Every time the tractor moves a few yards, Purdy is disturbed on his phone by people saying they're desperate for the job.

It's not surprising that John Deere, among others, are keen to cash in on the Purdy name.

The 24-year-old quarterback has had a stunning couple of years since breaking into the 49ers team because of injuries to other players.

In the 2022 season, he helped the 49ers all the way to the NFC Championship game.

But he picked up an injury early on in their meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles, and the 49ers went down to defeat.

San Francisco then went one step further in the 2023 season, reaching the Super Bowl.

But they suffered heartbreak in Las Vegas, losing in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs .

Purdy played for the 49ers in February's Super Bowl in Las Vegas

Purdy revealed recently that while filming the John Deere commercial, he saved a news anchor from being attacked by a coyote.

Local CBS affiliate KPIX-TV anchor Sara Donchey was strolling nearby, while a coyote was trailing behind close to her, in the Bernal Heights Park area of San Francisco.

Purdy told the story on The Pat McAfee Show.

"I see this thing trotting by that has a big tail. I was like, 'That looks like a mini wolf.'

Roger Goodell eyes moving Super Bowl date, 18-game season, international expansion and more

The commissioner shared his vision for future changes in the nfl.

NFL: APR 25 2024 Draft

The NFL could be undergoing some major changes in the near future and one of those changes could involve the date of the Super Bowl .

During an interview with Pat McAfee on Friday , Goodell was asked if the NFL would look to expand the regular season again after adding a 17th game in 2021 and the NFL commissioner gave an interesting response. Goodell said that he would love to see the league eventually get to 18 games, which would set the stage for the Super Bowl to be moved to a holiday weekend.

If the NFL added one more game to the schedule, the league would play 18 regular-season games and two preseason games.

"If we got to 18 and 2, that's not an unreasonable thing," Goodell said. "The other thing it does, [Super Bowl Sunday] ends on up Presidents' Day weekend, which is a three-day weekend, which makes it Sunday night and then you have Monday off."

If the NFL moved to an 18-game schedule, that would push the Super Bowl from the second Sunday in February to the third Sunday in February, and as Goodell notes, that would put the game on Presidents' Day weekend, which is a move that most fans would probably love. NFL fans have been clamoring for years to get the Monday after the Super Bowl changed to a national holiday, but under this plan, nothing would have to change since there's already a national holiday in place.

Of course, if this does happen, it will likely come at some point a few years down the road at the earliest.

"I think we're good at 17 [games] now, but we're looking at how we continue," Goodell said. "I'm not a fan of the preseason. I don't think we need preseason anymore."

Although Goodell isn't a fan of the preseason, he didn't make it sound like he was going to try and eliminate it.

Goodell has done several interviews since arriving in Detroit for the 2024 NFL Draft and another topic he touched on was international expansion. During a Thursday interview with ESPN, Goodell said that the league could be playing as many as 16 international games per season at some point in the next decade.

"I honestly think we'll be playing 16 games internationally if you go 10 years out," Goodell said, via the AP . "I think we'll try to get to eight or nine in the next couple years."

For the 2024 season, the NFL will be playing five games abroad with three in London, one in Germany, plus the league's first-ever game in Brazil. The NFL will also be adding Spain to the rotation in 2025 and the league is also planning on making a return to Mexico City, so the number of international locations will be shooting up soon.

"The reaction we're getting from the fans every time we play in a new market is incredible, so we'll continue to play in London, we'll continue to play in Germany and I hope continue to play in Brazil," Goodell said. "We'll be back in Mexico, but there are a lot of other markets that -- obviously, we're going to go to Spain next year, we've already planned that -- but there are a lot of markets that want us to play there and we're actively looking at all those, exploring that."

Although the NFL has big goals for international expansion, Goodell didn't sound so confident about putting a team in another country.

"Will a franchise ever happen or a division? Maybe. But that's beyond 10 years," Goodell said.

One other key topic that Goodell talked about was the proliferation of streaming. During the 2023 season, the NFL exclusively streamed a playoff game for the first time and that sounds like something the league will continue to do going forward.

"As you know, we go for the broadest possible distribution we can. We want to make our games available to the widest audience we possibly can," Goodell said. "But also I think the streaming platforms give us more interaction. There are more opportunities to do alternative broadcasts. There's more interaction for the fans if they want that interaction."

Last year's playoff game was on Peacock, and this year, the NFL will be putting a playoff game on Amazon , a partner that the league has been thrilled with so far.

"So we've been incredibly happy with our Thursday night package on Amazon Prime," Goodell said. "YouTube had our Sunday Ticket this year. Again, tremendous growth, and I think the fans really enjoyed it. And in each of those platforms, our average age of our audience went down eight to 10 years. So that's where a lot of people are that we need to reach, and that's why we're investing in it."

The NFL's first streaming exclusive game of the 2024 season will come in Week 1 when Peacock serves as the exclusive provider for the league's game in Brazil, which will see the Eagles serving as the home team against the Packers . Every Thursday night game is also exclusively streamed on Amazon, so it's pretty much a guarantee that streaming is here to stay.

Will nfl’s super bowl push daytona 500 off its traditional date in the future.

  • Dustin Long ,
  • Dustin Long

The date of future Daytona 500s could be in flux with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressing interest in moving the Super Bowl to Presidents Day weekend .

The Daytona 500 has run on Presidents Day weekend 48 of the last 54 years. Total, the race has been held on that weekend in 51 of its 66 years.

There will be no change next year. The 2025 Daytona 500 is scheduled to take place on Feb. 16 — President’s Day weekend.

The 2025 Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 9. The 2026 Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 8 — a week before Presidents Day.

NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 - Practice

Goodell said in an interview Friday on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he would be in favor of expanding the regular season from 17 to 18 games. Goodell noted that with making the season a week longer, it would push the Super Bowl back a week.

“That ends up on Presidents Day weekend, which is a three-day weekend, which makes (it) Sunday night, and then you have Monday off,” Goodell said.

Presidents Day falls on the third Monday of February and is a federal holiday.

Before any change can be made to the number of NFL games played (and forcing the Super Bowl to move back a week), the NFL Players Association would have to approve. That’s not likely to happen until the next labor deal . The current agreement between the league and the NFLPA goes through the 2030 season.

The only time in the last 54 years that the Daytona 500 has not run on Presidents Day weekend was from 2012-17. While there were various reasons for the pushing the start of the season back a week, NASCAR executive Steve O’Donnell acknowledged then that the NFL’s interest then to have the Super Bowl on that weekend was a consideration .

“We’re not going to deny the fact that part of this also is in dealing with the NFL,” O’Donnell said in 2011. “Who knows where they’ll go with an 18-game schedule, but we want to get ahead of that. Either way, we think it’s the right thing to do for our season. The Super Bowl is certainly a big event, but so is the Daytona 500, and to give fans an opportunity to go to both of those is certainly the right move.”
