I didn't receive any info about how to get the app that you need for the tour, and eventually spoke to someone who basically made out that I had received the emails etc and it was all my fault. Eventually sorted the tech problem and rode the tour, which was ok. The first part, in the city was pretty useless to be honest, I couldn't find most of the things we were supposed to be looking for, and the tour sends you through a no-bicycle part of the city, where we were told off by police for riding! In a friendly way though. The cost was ridiculous. The bike hire place were really helpful by trying to sort out the tech part of the trip, but they're nothing to do with that side of things, they only supply the bikes. The bike hire could have been done for 9 euros a day but it cost us about 45 euros all in. I wouldn't recommend. Just do what we did on the subsequent days, hire a bike and make up your own route. This was a great self guided tour that was really easy to do via your phone. It was just amazing to put yourself in the same places as the great Van Gogh. While I’m not an arty kinda person, it made me appreciate Van Gogh’s work and have since researched him some more. Don’t let the 29km bike ride put you off, it’s flat all the way and very easy! Being a little unorganised I booked a day before but realising it was for the following week. I contacted Simone the organiser and she made it all happen for the following day! We didn't spend a great deal of time on the bikes as it was quite cold but really enjoyed the day, nonetheless. Next time we'll hire the bikes in the warmer weather and make a day of it. Gordon766 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles A very pleasant day The tour is self-guided using a web app and takes you to more than 30 different locations related to the life of Van Gogh in Eindhoven and Nuenen. At each site there is a commentary you can read on the web app and once you are ready to move on you can click for directions and are taken to a specially marked route on google maps. Some of the locations have landmarks still in existence ( such as watermills that feature on Van Gogh paintings and the houses were acquaintances), others are merely the place where something once stood. The stops vary in interest, but since you are going at your own pace, you can simply move on if you find a particular stop less interesting. The cycling is easy and very pleasant - pretty much all on cycle paths. The tour includes cake and coffee at a very pleasant cafe near one of the watermills. Near the watermill before that ( at Kollen) is also a great restaurant to stop for lunch ( not included) - It's called d'n kleine dommel. You can also get a version of the tour where cycle hire is included. We could not find this on Tripadvisor, nor actually on the website for the actual provider. - probable there, but not easily searchable. We ended up finding it on Get Your Guide. The tour could be dramatically improved with better commentary. The commentary is at times OK, at times disconnected, at times containing random details that are of little interest. You can always skim over the details, though organising things with a summary with links to extra details where you can click what you are interested in would be an improvement. The biggest improvement though would be to the quality of writing. The writing is dull and sometimes the English is very unnatural. With an updated commentary this would be an excellent tour for Van Gogh fans. Read more Written July 28, 2022

I am completely out of words to describe the amazing experience we had around Eindhoven thanks to City Tours Eindhoven. I’m a local, from here, and I didn’t know half of the places that were shown in the tour “Highlights of Eindhoven with picnic included”. Simone was very responsive, and immediately answered all questions asked through WhatsApp when I contacted her 2 weeks prior our tour. Marcel provided detailed explanation on how to use the fat e-bikes and gave a thorough description on how to use the website with all pinpointed areas of Eindhoven. This website is available in many languages, we used it in Spanish. We were able to navigate easily using the links from the website to google maps. It’s so interesting to find all the hidden gems of Eindhoven!! Please mind: for this you will need Internet and full battery in your phone! Lastly we had the most amazing picnic in Frankplantsoen park. The picnic box was delivered by the company Picknick 040, and he food quality was amazing! We had more than we could ever expected, so yummy and abundant! We were treated like queens and enjoyed our day as such. To accommodate the final leg of the NYC 5 Boro Bike Tour, the Department of Transportation has announced that several Staten Island streets, and lanes on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, will be closed on Sunday, at the discretion of the NYPD. (Dennis Rees for the Staten Island Advance)

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With more than 32,000 participants and thousands of spectators heading to Staten Island on Sunday, May 5, for the finish of the TD NYC Five Boro Bike Tour, residents should be prepared for several road closures and travel delays.

The event is billed as the largest charity bike ride in the world, with participants riding through all five boroughs of the city and crossing five major bridges as part of their 40-mile journey, including the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge , before completing their journey in Fort Wadsworth.

The tour is the primary fundraising event for the nonprofit Bike New York, and proceeds from the event help to fund free public bike education and access programs for more than 30,000 adults and kids throughout the five boroughs, the organization says.

To accommodate the final leg of the tour, the Department of Transportation has announced that the following Staten Island streets, and lanes on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, will be closed on Sunday, at the discretion of the NYPD:

— Bay Street between New York Avenue and Hylan Boulevard

— Hylan Boulevard between Bay Street and Edgewater Street

— Edgewater Street/ Front Street between Hylan Boulevard and Hannah Street

— Hannah Street between Front Street and Bay Street

— Bay Street between Hannah Street and Richmond Terrace

— Richmond Terrace between Bay Street and Nicholas Street Wall Street between Richmond Terrace and dead end

Due to the event, part of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge will be also closed for the majority of the day on Sunday.

The Staten Island-bound lower level of the bridge will be closed from 2 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. The Bay Street exit near the bridge will also be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Staten Island-bound upper level of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge will remain open during the event, and is accessible from 92nd Street and the Belt Parkway entrance ramps.

Drivers are advised that closure times are subject to change and delays are expected.

In addition, the BQE/Gowanus Expressway will be closed between BQE West Entrance Columbia Street and Verrazano Bridge to accommodate the event.

M ay 1—STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The TD Five Boro Bike Tour, the nation's largest charitable bike ride, returns this Sunday, May 5. Cyclists will begin their journey in Manhattan, and cross five major bridges, including the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, which will signal to riders that the Ford Wadsworth finish, and the Finish Festival on Staten Island, is near.

The first wave of riders will get started at 7:30 a.m.

Due to the event, hosted by Bike New York, part of the Verrazzano Bridge will be closed for the majority of the day on Sunday.
